Valuable Things, 2020

Realised that I never shared this! A quote from a comic by @eorzean-cabbage that really touched me and my anxiety+depression combo. I asked about Mordred and Theodore’s favourite associated colours and flowers, found cross-stitch patterns, and finally finished this during the early months of lockdown.

This has now been framed and hangs outside my bedroom door so I can see it every day.

Wedding Portrait, 2019

My wedding present to the happy couple. It was very gratifying to return to acrylics and find that I can still paint, six years after the last time I used them for portraits.

Original photo taken by Shutter Bliss Photography, Bristol, UK. The photo was chosen and provided by the bride, and no money was exchanged in the creation of this gift.

Rowan, 2019

Not my first artwork of the year, but the first I have permission to share. This fellow is Rowan, the character of one of the other players in the game. Going by backstory, he’s the one that my character, Llarynna aka Rinn, has known longest, after she caught him cheating in a game of luck and decided to use her powers as a cleric of Lady Luck to mess with him. The pair ended up travelling together, and are good friends, although she often calls him out when he’s lying.

While this is his true face, it is not the one he often wears. He is not a wizard: he is, in fact, a warlock, who thought he was a sorcerer, and he has been accused of being involved in the murder of his adoptive mother, so he uses a magical disguise. As I understand it, he got caught up in a pact with Asmodeus that his parents made, and was thus unwittingly granted powers. As our campaign progressed, Asmodeus began to communicate with him, and that book is how he can communicate back. Also, his true form has begun to change into that of a chain devil. Thus far, his first intentional pact was to save Larynna’s life when she had been cursed to turn into a hell hound. He asked Tymora/Lady Luck for guidance when faced with a decision between Llarynna and another party member, or his parents’ souls (said parents were planning to kill hundreds of people), and Lady Luck clearly wanted her cleric to keep going. Larynna was less than thrilled to be “indebted” to the Prince of Devils, but had promised to aid Rowan in his quest.

Carwyn Liadon, 2018

I totally forgot to post this here! This is Carwyn, the half-elf son of my main DnD character, Llarynna Liadon. He’s my backup character, and a paladin of Lathander. As on the previous picture, I modeled him on The Sims 4, and then I used a reference picture (credit to faestock on deviantART)to help with the cloak and pose, before painting in watercolours.

Caron came to a good start in life when he was born in the temple of Lathander, god of birth and light. His mother did her best to raise Caron properly, and with the aid of many acolytes and priests from the temple that had taken her in, did a fairly good job of it. The solemn manner of the clergy came through more than any mischief from his mother, and he demonstrated a sense and steadiness that both endeared him to and frustrated Rinn. He appeared shy, studious and a little anxious – wide-eyed and always looking for ways to help – but took great, if quiet, joy in light and music and nature and art, and greatly preferred being with people over studying. He is very dutiful, but not necessarily to the law. The path of a paladin seemed a natural extension of this, and when he became a squire to an older paladin he felt at home.

Ten years later, he completed his training, swore the Oath of the Ancients, and chose his adult name: Carwyn. His mother bestowed a Cloak of Elvenkind upon him, as while he would not want to keep to the shadows at all times, there were times when being unseen would save his life. She then left for Silverymoon to pursue her own calling to be a cleric of Tymora, leaving Carwyn in Neverwinter. The two of them correspond when they can, and Carwyn is rather fond and proud of his mother for what she’s doing; he also thinks it’s very funny that she has unwittingly adopted five more boys, after leaving for some freedom.

Carwyn has spent most of the past year serving in and around Neverwinter. He is very much based at the temple of Lathander, and most of his service is in aiding and protecting the poor and vulnerable (another trait he inherited from mum). He has done some adventuring in and around the city when required.

Amaphine ‘Fi’ Fiakiir and Glory, 2018

Pencil drawings of characters for side/minor campaigns of DnD.

Fi is a half-elf bard made for a one-shot that got cancelled who is coming back for a new one-shot. Her face was improvised. 

Glory is an nb tiefling fighter (champion) who got killed at the end of their one-shot in a way that was very satisfying and meant I had a solid excuse not to continue with the campaign. Their face is Kate Winslet’s.

Llarynna Liadon, 2018

I’m really glad to have a new picture to show you! The wrist is still giving me a lot of trouble, but by using tools like The Sims 4 to model the face and hair, and my lightpad to trace a screenshot, I managed to ease the stress on my mind and hand and actually made something I’m very happy with!

This is Llarynna Liadon, a moon elf who has recently discovered her calling as a cleric of Tymora, aka Lady Luck.

Llarynna, more often known simply as Rynna or Rinn, hails from the isle of Gwynneth in the Moonshae Isles. She was raised in the mountain kingdom of Synnoria with the other Llewyr elves, and although she loved her culture she felt little closeness to the elven gods and spent her days exploring the mountains and taking risks, perhaps looking for something that called her. She is not the strongest of elves, but she is hardy and nimble.

When she was aged 74 - still a child by her people's reckoning - a whirlwind romance, a plan to elope and shipwreck later, she found herself in Neverwinter, destitute, alone and pregnant. Fortunately, a priestess of Lathander found her and took her in, providing food and shelter in return for what help she could offer in the temple and town, which was still rebuilding after the troubles a few decades earlier. Her child was born in the temple and named Caron.

She loved Caron greatly and did her best by them, and grew fond of Lathander and her fellows, but still did not feel that this was the god who called her to serve. When Caron was 15 and entered into training as a paladin of Lathander, serving as a squire to an experienced paladin, Rinn took her new freedom to research other gods whose voice she might be hearing echoes of. She discovered the stories of Tyche, Tymora and Beshaba, and found herself drawn especially to Tyche. She spent much time praying and meditating, as well as going out into the town to find what her path might call her to.

Rinn was 100 and Caron was 25 when he completed his training, swore his Oath of the Ancients and chose his adult name - Carwyn. Rinn chose her own adult name at the ceremony - Llarynna - bade her grownup son farewell and headed to Silverymoon so that she might visit the temple to Tymora there, learn more of her and receive a blessing for her vocation.  They gave their blessing and told her to go out into the world to find out what Tymora wanted her to do.

Llarynna is now travelling to Waterdeep to begin her journey of self-discovery.

Firil, 2017

I’ve not yet posted these pictures because I was expecting them to be used in a video; however, that has had to be put aside, and I’ve been given permission to post these myself by @fatefulfumble.

Some of my wonderful friends ( @ingridbeast​ and @woodsmokeandwords are the only ones whose tumblrs I know) are part of a very ambitious and wonderful series of Dragon Age Table Top RPG games that have been streamed (think Critical Role but Dragon Age) set in the DAI ‘canon’ for @starbitcosplay‘s Inquisitor Lavellan. Although the campaigns have diverged to different channels and GMs, they came together for a huge event in November called the Fateswain Con.

After those events, there was a DAI/Trespasser-style epilogue planned, and fans were called to provide artwork for it. I produced three pictures, the final picture is Firil being all sneaky-sneaky and getting up to non-Inquisition business...

Fateful Fumble is great! They do livestreams and are turning episodes into podcasts. Please do go and check them out over on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook - if you feel like supporting them they have a fan group, and  financially, they also have a Ko-fi and a store.

Firil and “Gaffy”, 2017

I’ve not yet posted these pictures because I was expecting them to be used in a video; however, that has had to be put aside, and I’ve been given permission to post these myself by @fatefulfumble.

Some of my wonderful friends ( @ingridbeast​ and @woodsmokeandwords are the only ones whose tumblrs I know) are part of a very ambitious and wonderful series of Dragon Age Table Top RPG games that have been streamed (think Critical Role but Dragon Age) set in the DAI ‘canon’ for @starbitcosplay‘s Inquisitor Lavellan. Although the campaigns have diverged to different channels and GMs, they came together for a huge event in November called the Fateswain Con.

After those events, there was a DAI/Trespasser-style epilogue planned, and fans were called to provide artwork for it. I produced three pictures, the second of which is Firil (left) conspiring something with the #prettydecentbigboy Gaffy, son of their previous companion Ness, who died during the Con. He’s 12.

Ram and Valeth, 2017

Mordred Surana, 2017

My half of an art trade with @thedosian-cabbage! I know I ended up doing more detail than agreed (please don’t feel obliged to go beyond the original deal, or if this is Too Much/you’re no longer up for it, consider it gift art), but I got Inspired by all the talk about giving Mordred presents, and I also got delayed by RSI/visiting family/dodgy tools, so I wanted to make up for that. Plus, I’ve wanted to draw him for a while. I hope I did him justice!

What’s in the box? Probably nice velvet bags for Mordred’s more delicate tools, if it’s from Amrita, but the box is part of the present. It’s nothing fancy, and is in fact fairly crude as they are early efforts, but the girl needed a hobby to take her mind off shit and Blackwall and Krem got her into carving and sewing (making stuff as opposed to just patching and darning, which she did while running the alienage clinic) respectively. They got the first fruits of her efforts, but she thought Mordred would appreciate the thought, as he’s always making things.

After hearing about Mordred’s old tendency not to care about checking food for toxicity first, she considered making copies of her notes about plants, but there are too many plants in the world; she’s only intimately familiar with the ones growing around the Ostwick Coast; and she thought a book would probably be worthless because who’s got time for that when they can purge their own body of poisons anyway?

My half of an art trade with @rainbowd00dles, drawing a picture of hers in my own style (as best I could)! (It’s not very much in my own style. I’m sorry. I tend to copy closely when I’m looking at reference pictures, and I really don’t know the series/characters. So I at least painted it, and looked for references on Yuri’s costume. I’m rather out of practice with my watercolours tbh but I tried.)

EDIT: Now a touched-up version where Yuuri doesn’t look so White. FSR Victor came out even whiter but hey. Scanners, amirite?

My half of my @daficswap with @lovelylittlekitten! They requested Anders and Hawke in this pose, in the N7/Shepard outfit, with Anders looking confused as to why they’re wearing it. Apologies for the delay!

I opted not to colour the whole thing in black, as it wouldn’t have looked good and it would have wasted all the linework I was kind of happy with. Those outfits are tricky.

Ellaria and Alistair, 2016

My @daficswap​ with @phantomhive3108​! They requested their Warden, Ellaria Cousland, doing something festive, and this scenario came to mind. The husband thinks it’s sweet.

I guess I’m setting it in the later 9:30s? So making Ellaria and Alistair look a little older was deliberate. (I probably should have drawn her in boots because it’s cold, but I was very pleased with how the shape of her legs came out, so leggings and socks it is. The socks were a gift from Alistair. Not just a romantic, but a prudent one. Plus he may have heard a certain rumour about wearing socks in bed and improved sex…)

Three and a half hours, maybe? It has kept me occupied while I wait to go to midnight mass. Poses referenced from here and Hot Cuppa Sitting 07 by Null-Entity. Pen, Copics and metallic gel pens on paper.
