I think the two of them are uniquely able to understand each other bcuz in summary, the things they are both most vulnerable and affected by, the things that have probably damaged their lives most, are things they cannot conceal from others. Laios’ autism and Chilchuck’s size. There’s VERY good discussions on whether Chil is totally normal, autistic but very good at masking, somewhere inbetween, or even whether he’s cis, and those would all INFORM this conversation but whichever way you read him, he is socially aware enough to see that Laios is NOT. And it drives him crazy and he is constantly frustrated and trying to teach him to be more aware of himself as the party leader and just “be more normal”. In my opinion this is because Chil KNOWS how much it hurts to live with a part of yourself you can’t control that makes it hard to make your way through the world — in his own way, he is trying to take care of Laios. This may be both for selfish (he wants a good stable party and that requires a good socially savvy party leader) and selfless (chilaios…) reasons, but either way. It’s essentially just there in the text To Me.

Chilchuck is probably extra frustrated because, at least as he seems to see it, Laios COULD choose to shave off those rough edges of himself and “pass” as respectable/“normal”. (Another reason I kinda think Chil has his own autism thing happening. In my experience, shamefully, I’ve been least patient with people who I see as like me but they just haven’t figured out how to stop the world from hurting them like I have.) (I imagine chil often thinks things like. why don’t you just change. Don’t you see how much easier it would be for you. Don’t you see how much you’re letting the world hurt you. Don’t you know what that will do to you, over time.) meanwhile Chilchuck cannot stop the rest of the world from seeing him as either childLIKE or just straight up a tall-man kid. No matter how professional he is or how scathingly he can insult people or how much he can drink — he can’t stop what people SEE when they LOOK at him (this also makes him a great trans character To Me). I think Laios knows exactly how this feels. He’s not seen as a kid, so it’s not exactly the same. But despite having everything Chilchuck would like to have (tall, looks manly, socially respectable in appearances)… Laios is never going to pass as normal once people get to know him. He ISN’T socially aware. He CAN’T pretend to be someone else anymore, not once the story starts.

So autistic Laios keeps bumbling through social situations that make people want to fucking hunt him for sport. He can’t say the right things, and when he has tried to be himself, we can assume it’s been very poorly received in the past, both when dungeoneering and prior as a little kid. When he’s not being manic about his monster special interest he seems to constantly be doing an Autism Stare that serves to keep people away from him and his sister.

The fact that Chil and Laios both, to some degree, can’t hide what they hate most about themselves, makes them uniquely able to understand each other. And treat each other with sympathy/empathy underneath it all. Laios is the one out of their party who most treats Chilchuck as an adult with agency (understands the stress of his work, defends him, lets him steer situations, listens to his advice, never demeans him or gives any indication he thinks he’s a child altho he did assume Chil is younger than him). If the daydream hour extras that give rough indications of who joined the party when are canon, Chilchuck is the party member who’s been with the party the longest, almost since Falin and Laios founded it, despite thinking of Laios as “the party leader comma I GUESS”. He keeps trying to beat lessons about leading parties into Laios’ head despite many ppl around him considering him a lost cause. As I’ve said in other posts…. He could probably just fucking walk out at any time and either retire or get a different party, and we know Chil has no problem hitting da bricks, but he doesn’t.

The things about themselves that make them most able to relate to each other are also the things that sometimes make them grate against each other (Chil berating Laios in the way only a guy with a major complex can and Laios pouting about it lmao. Laios continuing to be a big cute socially inept dummy anyways.) BUT THAT’S LOVE, BABEY!!!

Lookism jealous headcanons: least jealous

Let's start with these guys first (Jake, Vasco, Gun, Daniel, Eli): hc for being jealous themselves, and hc for you trying to make them jealous

Jake Kim

To be with Mr. Butt, you would have developed a pretty good relationship anyway to move into the romantic terrority. He knows you are loyal and trusts you implicitly.

Any naturally occuring feelings of jealousy are for him to deal with on his own. Will take a bit of poking and prodding before he talks to you about it.

But if you're trying to provoke him? Why are you even trying to make him jealous? Two can play at this game if you're trying to be a pain in the ass. He'll try and talk things through with you first, to see if he's pissed you off. But if you carry on? Expect him in full silly mode: kneeling down before you, shouting his apologies, announcing his feelings, literally begging you to stop flirting with this ugly nobody.

Vasco Tabasco

Rarely, if ever, gets jealous. He's just so happy to be with you. It's one thing if you're in trouble, but if he notices someone is being overly friendly but you're nonplussed? He just looks at you with heart eyes: "Ahhh look at Y/N. They're so cute and pretty! I can't believe they're with me!!"

If you're provoking Vasco then good luck. He wouldn't really understand your actions but will be upset about how he is feeling. "Do you like them more than me, Y/N? :(((" The sad face is enough to guilt you into stopping. Really, it's like kicking a puppy. Why would you do that.

Gun Park

Feeling jealous of his own accord? Guess being with you proves he is human afterall. He's arrogant, confident but aware of his own limitations. Jealousy isn't an emotion he's well acquaintained with. Will result in him brooding or being extra cold until he can put his finger on it and figure out the next steps.

Lucky for you, Gun is pretty forthright. He'll tell you what has been making him jealous so you can both work through it.

Trying to make him jealous? Also good luck. Gun will see right through your attempts. Depends what mood he is in. At times he's amused but generally he will ignore you and your childishness.

Daniel Park

Yes, he's had a glow up in his first body and yes, he gets lots of attention in his second but that doesn't erase years and years of bullying and hating himself. The feelings of inadequacy will overwhelm and cause him to shrink back into himself.

He'll need a lot of reassurance that you love him for him. It's better if you don't focus too much on his appearance. "What happens if one day I put on weight again? or when I get old? Will you still like me then? :("

Provoking him? Please don't be so mean to Daniel. Especially if you know about his insecurities. This is more of a reflection on you and your issues if you're purposely making him jealous. Shame on you.

Eli Jang

Tends to get jealous if he thinks someone else is a better provider for you: physically, romantically, mentally, financially etc. Being the Big Daddy for Eli means he should be able to do it all, and then some. He will get in his head if he thinks someone else is better suited to you.

For Eli, actions speak louder than words - show him how much you love him and he has nothing to worry about.

Cannot imagine him being with a partner that would try and make him jealous. There's enough on his hands with Hostel and Yenna. He wants a mature and stable presence in their lives, he doesn't want nor have the time to play these games.

In an Everyone Lives scenario, what majors/career paths do you think all the Hacketteers would end up in? Obviously we have animation for Ryan and physics for Dylan suggested in the game but so many people end up changing their majors anyway, I wonder if the experience would lead them on different paths than they’d originally intended.

thank you for making me think about this, it's one thing i've been putting off but i also think about all the time

so right off the top of my head, i think about Max's major a lot & i end up tossing two things around - law school or childcare/teaching. he seems like a level-headed guy, he breaks down situations in pieces until he understand them ("You remember when I said, 'whoa, look at the moon. it's so big and bright and- it's so cool to see a full moon' and you said "yeah no shit, Max, it happens once a month'?"), & also.... we've all seen his outfit in the 50s pack. but i still come back to childcare bc i grew up working in childcare & he just seems the type for it. maybe he got rejected from Landis for law & pursues childcare or teaching at a smaller school instead & ends up one of those teachers that everyone wants to get on their schedule

Laura, the love of my life, the breath in my lungs, is such a headstrong badass that she prolly still pursues her vet degree, altho i can see her minoring/taking a few psychology classes to coach her & Max thru the rough times

Abi definitely finds her way to art school, i just don't see her changing that. i do think she expands from just sketching & gets into different mediums - pottery, possibly sculpting, using charcoal and paint - bc i think she'd find it calming to work with her hands, cover her skin in anything but red, & she'd lean into it for stress relief

uhh Nick is so complicated sometimes that predicting what the absolute FOOL (affectionate) is going to do is impossible. i want to say culinary school but if i'm being honest, i think he would end up dropping out & just working at restaurant. i don't say this bc i hate him, i say this bc he's a clown. (also i may or may not have done the same thing, minus the culinary part) or maybe he becomes a forest ranger & spends time alone in his ranger tower listening to the forest

Jacob i whole-heartedly believe goes for coaching/athletics or something, but he joins the college sports team (prolly football or maybe hockey) & that's the path he ends up following. he definitely has to get a tutor

i think Emma maybe pursues marketing/advertising or something of the sort, but i also think she def starts loading up her schedule. volunteer work? no worries, she can run it. student council? sure, she'll apply. you know, lacrosse sounds rlly fun all of a sudden, she should join the team! & she kills, obvi. if she never thinks about it, it never happened. if she never has time to think, she can never think about it

Kaitlyn.... she's the one i've been thinking about the most. she's such an odd character bc we see so much of her & yet i still feel like we don't know anything about her. her entire character is kind of just "im mean, i know first aid & i can shoot" & then we love her bc she's a badass. which i don't mind but it makes it kind of hard to make theories on her future. i imagine she IS one who ends up switching her major. she prolly starts with what she had planned - maybe an english degree? - but then switches bc hackett's quarry changed her & she'll never stop thinking about it. i like to think maybe she ends up in enviromentalism, or possibly on the nursing track. something to occupy her mind

Ryan & Dylan honestly seem rlly well suited for their majors so i don't know of i can imagine them doing something else. i do think Ryan starts taking self-defense class & prolly makes Sarah go with him just to be sure she knows. just in case. Dylan takes a part-time job at either the school's radio station or a local one, & if he DID drop out, he would 100% start a podcast. all those fanfics are canon

I basically day dream this soooo this could be any genshin character that you want…

So this is how it goes, one of the genshin men, xiao in my imagine, were transported first to our world and get to meet the reader first. Then a few years after that, the other genshin men arrive in our world.

And the funny part is that Childe immediately started to propose on the spot

Childe: Please marry me! I’ve been waiting for ages to be with you.

Reader: … I already have children.

Childe: Don’t worry I’m good with kids. I’ll make sure to be a great fa-

Reader: I’m also married.

Childe: … who is this man? *he says calmly as he prepares who’s hydro blades*

Then reader called out to Xiao and xiao appear carrying their kids. Ya know those baby carriers you strapped on your torso. Yeah imagine xiao with that, while holding hands with the other kid.

Childe and Xiao basically have a stare off. If it weren’t for the children on Xiao, Childe would have lunge on him already.

The other men are too stun to speak because of Childe’s shamelessly then Reader’s reveal about having a family with Xiao.

Altho regardless of who got to reader first if it isn’t Childe he would demand a death match.

whenever i feel like i'm touch starved and want to hug someone but can't because of circumstances, i'd hug my plushies before going to bed and imagine something like this:

cuddles with xiao! he's probably shorter than you so he would be the little spoon. but even if he's taller than you - still, be the big spoon. he might scoff and say things like 'adepti do not need sleep'. well, ignore him. as soon as your arms wrap around him and pull him flush against your body, he wouldn't make any effort to push you away even if he certainly could.

nuzzle his neck. kiss the top of his head. relax and regulate your breathing calmly, maybe hum a calming song if you're into that, and wait.

xiao will slowly relax. the frown between his eyebrows disappears. the downturn of his lips smoothening out into a neutral line bordering on an upward curve. the blush on his cheeks washes out. if you're brave enough, don't be afraid to tuck his head into your chest - he loves hearing your heartbeat. unknowingly, his own heart syncs with yours, along with his breathing.

when you drift to sleep, he might follow - and if you're lucky, he might even join you in your dreams, where you can continue to cuddle in a field of flowers <3

Okay let me go point by point here Yeah, PT would be Jealous As Fuck once he got context from Twink! Dib, altho he'd pretend he simply don't believe him and visibly seethe. And Twink! is a massive tease so he'd rub salt on the wound hehe. Okay, you might have misunderstood me: neither PT or Twink! are one-sided, they both love each other, but PT Dib has massive mental roadblocks that prevent him from acting upon those feelings and putting effort into the relationship like Zim is doing right now. Once they come clean about it that should get better, although with massive pains. Twink! Dib and his Zim are both super dedicated to one another and being baddies, no issues there. In my AU Zim is over a century old and PAKs are reused after an irken dies, so they're pretty much impervious to decay...as long as they're well kept. Zim does keep his PAK well maintained best he can but he's been cut off from Irken resources for a long time and scavenging is not gonna cut it forever...I'd assume he eventually could catch something, but hopefully he would have Dib by his side when the time comes. If it happened right now Dib wouldn't be able to do much to help past whatever Zim already tried.

CZ is it's entirely separate thing! PT and Twink Au start off with a more or less canon level intelligence Zim, CZ starts with a completely reworked Zim who's, as the name says, competent. He's Zim by name and plot, but his story is much different.

And yea, CZ Zim absolutely could use that card if he wanted to, it'd be laughably easy for him to get Dib in trouble, but this Zim doesn't see Dib as a threat per se. For the most part. He actually sees him as an inspiration of sorts, because of his desire to go against everything other humans tell him and remain resilient on his idea of Zim being an alien despite the trouble it causes him. CZ Zim is not one to step out of line, fers retribution and getting in trouble w those in power, and envies Dib's capacity to go against the grain and follow his own path. So he would genuinely like to form a bond with him...but also messing around with the guy is much too fun to resist.

very very long rant

when i first left tumblr after the porn ban, the sjw stuff was starting to plateau, but you still had big bloggers ironically calling themselves misandrists in bio. I say ironically because unlike an open misogynist, an open misandrist cannot amass vast structural power, they instead will remain on the fringes of society. before they can even be shunned in the mainstream or the elite, they're being shunned by their own peers.

at that time, there was a lot of popular blogs run by (sometimes allegedly) racialized people or "poc-run spaces" like thisisnot[country] and blogs specifically dedicated to pointing out cultural appropriation. i personally contributed to the reclaimthebindi which in retrospect seemed inspired by blackout selfie day (not to be confused with thr subsequent 'blackout' posts associated with BLM - that was later), altho idk to what extent the south asian diasporic community (of which i am a part of) actually paid homage to the black blogger/s responsible for blackout day.

now many of those blogs are defunct or have been scrubbed from level-one searches of tumblr, and their history has not been well documented. it's hard to understand what the climate was unless you were there because not many secondary sources, like the one you're reading right now i suppose, exist. or they weren't well-circulated. this one won't be, i'm turning off reblogs i think.

this is, in my opinion, in contrast to other major trends in internet culture that inform offline social justice movements. that's your gxmxrgxte (so well-ingrained in my memory that it still upsets me enough to censor today), metoo and the annual around ao3's right to host any and all content with very limited few exceptions.

reclaimthebindi is still up, so are a few of the thisisnot blogs, but you can't really tell that they were all interconnected, a part of the same zeitgeist. i have a few theories as to why, and which one you pick depends on how generous you are when imagining the people who ran these blogs. some of them for sure were run by bored college students seeking an outlet. some of them were denied recognition by their offline peers because of racism, so it felt good to find a space where they could actually amass social capital on the basis of the very thing that disadvantaged them in every other space. some were concerned with punitive justice, others with restorative justice. some just posted black and brown bodies so that those images would exist on the internet somewhere. some were run by racefacing white people who also felt like outcasts offline, and saw a quick and easy way to be embraced elsewhere. it's possible that some people did it for a combination of these reasons.

whatever benefits there may have been, it wasn't enough to keep the momentum going. very few put out 'retirement' statements, most just stopped posting and were eventually purged. tbh, i see the draw in airing your grievances all in one place, but it's exhausting, and eventually your supporters grow tired of the negativity, and you grow tired of the negativity too. that's why i think it's usually better to stick to posting and sharing the stuff you love, not the stuff you hate, or at least, find a balance. though their presence is much, much smaller, creator networks for women, lgtbq, and racialized people have sprung up, and so have spaces where people post and repost art that engages with class, race, gender etc.

but it still feels like racialized people have a much quieter voice on tumblr. i have to rely on stumbling upon them naturally, which is next to impossible, especially if you're on tumblr for a small to medium sized fandom, which i think most fandoms are these days. your supermassive fandoms - doctor who, sherlock, kpop, harry potter, the mcu, also no longer dominate the site. i would still say tumblr is the big fandom site, but a lower user count means that the internet's fandom site is smaller than before.

so, less users in general, and any existing minority shrinks. and if we're talking racialized people who are lgtbq, that's an even smaller minority.

this in my opinion has contributed in a major way to the backlash against feminism, the idea that "terfs ruined feminism" with the subtle suggestion that feminism has perhaps failed, or was never really good to begin with, and a laser focus on terfs as the ones responsible as though the mainstream, patriarchal, cis-heteronormative bloc had absolutely nothing to do with it. or the ludicrous idea that terfs are the mainstream, patriarchal cis-heteronormative bloc. two things can be bad, that doesn't mean they're the same thing.

anyway! a big part of the original tumblr feminist movement was not just the "poc run blog" but in the "woc run blog". "poc" was absorbed into BIPOC, and "woc" is a legacy term. your woc were regularly venting about how being a woman of colour means choosing between your race and your gender, putting up with the misogyny of the racialized men in your life who you show up for constantly but who throw you under the bus when the white man asks them how high to jump. now there's white lgbtq bloggers all over the place asking whether you "include black and brown men when you said you say men are trash?" (yes, i absolutely am) and if you ask that question to a room full of white people, they're all going to keep their mouths shut because they don't want to appear racist.

well, white men do not have a monopoly on misogyny. misogyny levied at racialized women by racialized men is a huge intra-community barrier to trying to organize against racism and white supremacy. it is extremely upsetting to see white people suggest that racialized women, lgbtq people and children are not oppressed by the racialized men in their own communities. that we are not survivors of domestic abuse, sexual abuse or that we do not endure oppression under patriarchy in the home, workplace and in society inflicted upon us by our own kin, which compounds upon what we already absorb from white people.

and they can go on doing so on here because many racialized women have shut up and gone away. even running blogs aimed around celebrating themselves has become a service to white consumers that they've done thanklessly for years. just to hear that actually, they have no right to say "men are trash" because what if the brown man that abused them or their mom or their aunties overhears and gets his feelings hurt. didn't we discern the difference between hurt feelings and systemic oppression almost fifteen years ago on tumblr dot com?

like, sure, maybe we should adjust "women only spaces" to be "spaces for women and trans people" but we can do that and not pretend that we have absolutely no idea why women live in fear of men, or that a reasonable amount of fear is completely unwarranted.

man it is one thing to come back here to find all the, admittedly, sometimes kind of annoying sjw blogs around race gone, and another to see a resurgence of popular MRA talking points. but i see how that's happened. racialized women are done talking about this, and who can blame them. white women, and i wish i only meant cis women, get slapped with 'terf' the second they open their mouths, so they are also done talking about this.

if you managed to read all of this please be a little careful when reblogging posts that are critical of feminism. yes, there are a few bad-faith actors within feminism, but feminists in general are a minority group, even if it doesn't feel that way on tumblr. think about it, how long has it been since you saw someone with 'feminist' in bio? is it a good thing to keep facilitating this growing resentment against feminism? has feminism done nothing for us? should we toss it out with the bathwater?

So, cuz this pertains to both of my WIPs and is a genuine worldbuilding fixation of mine... but how do kid superheroes work in the Boys universe?

I assumed that most parents of super-abled kids will begin their kids careers fairly early, while superpowers developt at random ages (Homelander and lazer kid 1 and 2... as babies, A-Train and Starlight as toddlers while The Deep at 9) it will varied kid to kid when they can even begin to be heroes-- altho if their parents remember they gave their kids V they might already be planning things ahead... my issue comes with their parents and how young do parents begin debuting their kids Superhero persona's and start Superhero duties...? we known from canon that A-Train, popclaw, Mesmer were part of the Teenage Kix with mesmer seemingly around 14-16 (based solely on his appearance on his TV show altho i dunno if he was acting while being in T.K or that happened after his show ended) so i assume the other members would be the same age.

Then we have Maeve mentioning in S2 that her dad had her do Teen Vogue photoshoots growing up, so she was active as Queen Maeve between 13-19 if she was considered a teen Super-model.

Supersonic on the other hand was part of Young Americans (alongside Starlight and Drummer Boy) and Super-sweet and was what 16-19? During his time there.

Then there is Godolkin, a uni dedicated to training supers-- as a uni i imagine most of their freshman's are going to be 17-18 when they enroll and from Gen V material we know some of the kids are already established supes, so either some kids have no superhero identities and are there to develop them, while other already have them before enrolling in this Vocational School.

Then there is the superhero pageants-- based solely on that scene with Starlight in S3 most of the girls there look like tweens presumably like actual kids pageants there would be different age groups from toddlers, tweens and teens... and some of those girls looked fairly young... Stormfront even mentioned that in her fake backstory she didnt do any which might indicate that this is not common for female supes, plus making her a rare adult debut.

Homelander on the other hand debuted between 18-21 which could be out of the norm (altho potentially had a demo at 16).

And there is the naming thing... all supe names r trademarked and copyrighted by Vought, they own the names and if somebody quits they can simply renamed a new supe with the old names. Do parents have to like fill an application/registry form for the names? Do they gotta double check with Vought for appropriate names or if other supes have had the names in the past? Do they apply to get old names if they aint in circulation? Are parents buying/bidding for whose kid is gonna be the next Starlight or Translucent?

Unsure how male supes get anywhere without pageants... like is it acting/music their first choice or sports?

While i am aware that there are kid supes in the comics... the only thing of note its that they r referred to as 'Sidekids' by Homelander so it might mean that they start their careers as assistants before becoming supes.... and only exist for Ennis's shock CSA jokes/scenes... altho in the 'Dear Becky'

comic there is a Shazam/Captain Marvel parody that Butcher and The boys rip his tongue off bcuz he was using his age changing superhero powers to rape ppl... so he was a kid rapist (fucking cant stand Ennis i swear to god...) he might be an exemption.

I wont mention the orphans from the diabolical eps as i dunno if thats canon.

I would argue that 13 or 16 might be the most common ages...

i do think an au where laena lives, and rhaenyra still has aegon but he’s straight up a bastard is a really interesting if highly unlikely au. like, even if daemon accidentally knocks her up while laena is alive, rhaenyra would realistically go to him or even her father and be like “holy shit i need some help here” altho - i mean i’m assuming she wouldn’t even freak out about it too bad bc she has aegon at the end of 120, she can still just claim it’s laenor’s whether he’s alive or not. it’s not like people believe her about the first three, she’s not exactly doing anything different with this one is she! daemon might start acting up when her baby comes out looking valyrian and while i am a daemon/laena/rhaenyra truther, there is a difference between having a third u keep on the down low and your husband knocking that third up, especially in a world like westeros. that + rhaenys is not fucking stupid thanks very much, when rhaenyra gives birth to a valyrian looking baby (regardless of whether laenor is still alive or laenor died 9 months and three weeks ago) and daemon starts crying screaming throwing up while laena has gone catatonic in the corner, rhaenys is gonna realize Something Fucky Went Down. but like, if viserys is just like “oh wow isn’t it so funny how genes work, i mean my dad had the valyrian look while my mom was practically lannister colored isn’t that so funny how two kids with the exact same parents can look so different, i’m so happy you and laenor had a fourth child” this is just gonna be another “rhaenyra clearly had a bastard” scenario EXCEPT. i mean is daemon gonna just stay quiet like harwin did? is laena going to continue being close to rhaenyra after rhaenyra clearly and obviously had daemon’s bastard?? is viserys, while covering for rhaenyra, still not gonna be supremely annoyed that daemon fucked rhaenyra AGAIN??? it’s a much more tense situation for sure, but Aegon would likely still just be a Velaryon, and then um, hopefully laena sits them down and is like “pull OUT next time seven fucking hells” and viserys ii gets butterfly effected away.

(imagine if she has viserys ii as well. she’s really shooting herself in the foot there but that would be so fucking funny. just being like “okay this one is in fact a bastard my bad guys, this is viserys waters, his dad was some random guy” and viserys has daemon’s whole ass face. omg. i think her dad would just keel over and die early).

May I please have a quick director’s commentary on how the Fazgang reacted when they realized that they were haunted? Based on what I've seen, their AIs were still developing outside the stage personalities, so did they understand at first what happened?

I imagine there was a lot of issues at first, altho idk how many spoons I have left I'll try to answer best I can ^^

By the time Max was killed and then vanished for a while, (the first but shorter time he ran out on the Fazband/the restaurant, to their immense confusion and eventual hurt) William started further...experiments. Arthur wanted friends, and was lonely. William wanted to discover How this had Happened, and more importantly, How Could this Miracle Benefit Him? The Marionette had little opinion on much during it's initial haunting, hardly understanding what it was doing but its child trusted the man in all shades of Purple...and this human was one it's creators, wasn't it? The Marionette/Arthur assumed William Afton was doing the right thing and wouldn't lead them astray.

Foxy, of course, was ever the outlier. Alexander and he started figuring their shit out but in secret, quietly. Away from prying eyes. Alexander's hate/fear of the Puppet and Purple Guy colored Foxy's opinion, even as he grew his own consciousness and realized some of the more finer details. Regardless, he learned that anyone's pain is real and he sided with his kid when he could. Alexander had no one else to do it, it seemed. And Foxy knew that to step foot out of line too much would end up with him dismantled and then he wouldn't be able to protect Alexander, though.

The other 3 were powered down during the murders and woke feeling off and odd. Their ghosts didn't materialize until after the Puppet came to them, staring at the mess as the Crying Child discovered William had started hurting other children. Mari had had practice with stitching together Scraptrap and Michael Afton by now. He anchored the three young souls to their corresponding Animatronics and that was that.

Max started the growth of their personalities, their children furthered it all and the Fazgang was 'born.' They began to understand more and more, and began to form opinions as the years wore on. They hid their life-likeness from everyone, save for the manager of the Diner and they tried hiding it from Afton, although it didn't last long. Thankfully William's days of being puppet master were done, and the Marionette took control of the diner and threatened the Purple Man off, being backed up by the Fazgang who decided protecting children was their calling, from any adult who dared try to harm one in the walls of their home. William was driven off, although obviously he lingered in the shadows, started up the Pizza World franchise, and plotted and worked hard to stay in control of what he could. He figured as long as Fredbear stayed dismantled, he and Springbonnie would be on top.

I'm gonna ramble in your inbox so i don't clog up the dash (haha putting that on you!🫶) but listen listen. Imagine getting a shy voiceline, and you rate it with 5♡, the character is gonna be screaming into their pillow of joy that it worked. Imagine getting a cocky voiceline (like Shu, not offering, but telling you he will pick out clothes for you to wear) and rating them with a low number. They'd be punching the wall wondering what the hell went wrong. Imagine getting a character you dislike and not even listening before rating them with 1♡, depending on which character, they either fall into a state of depression and get lost from the code itself for a few days, or get so angry they bug out your game and make you incapable of logging in and getting any other voiceline...

And, like, literally so many are formulated as "you and character are out somewhere together (alone) and they notice you're cold and offer you a rather intimate way of warming up", with Koga offering you put your hands in his jacket's pockets and Arashi telling you she'll warm your hands in her own, I mean.... They have the freedom to show you what a winter date with them would be like, and how nice and caring and thoughtful they are..... and then you either show appreciation (5♡) and they can gloat and strut around like peacocks talking about "See? They love my line - my DATE. They want me." or you hit them with an L + ratio + i'd give you zero hearts if i could and they end the day sobbing into their pillow until it turns soggy and probably end up sabotaging the others or the game itself (so nobody gets a better score than them)

Altho i reckon the "average" scored ones would get interesting. The perfectionists would end up spending the entire year analysing who you gave a better score and who you gave a worse score so he can figure out your tastes and how to turn that 3 into a 5 for next year. The optimists would just go "hell yeah they liked it !!!! (Didn't give me a one)". The pessimists would aheem aheem sob sniffle and wonder what was missing. If only you could leave comments, too :((

But inside your phone, the character you gave that high rating to is completely over the moon, overjoyed and excited that they managed to impress you, that you liked their idea for a *date* with you!! Because that's obviously what all of this is about, yes? You're all alone on a snowy day so it counts 💕

But lmao I actually think it's so hilarious to see someone usually so confident and cocky like Shu or Izumi on their knees, crying, screaming, punching the ground because you gave them a low rating. How could this be??!!

I think they deserve to be humbled at least a little bit 😌 Maybe next time they'll learn to he a little nicer with you!

And ooh the ones that got a high rating would definitely brag and make everyone else either nervous ( because they haven't had their turn yet) or jealous (because you didn't give them a rating that high). But you mentioning the player just giving a character an automatic 1* rating without even reading the line makes me think about what might happen if you gave one of your favorite characters an immediate 5 star without actually paying too much attention.

Like, of course it's flattering but they also really wanted you to pay attention to what they had to say!! They wanted to go onto that (imaginary) date with you!!

And good thinking actually! I didn't even think about the average rating but I think you're right that getting a rating like that raises a lot of questions. So obviously they didn't do everything wrong but you also weren't too impressed. How are they going to figure out what to improve and what to leave out completely?? They can't really tell what you liked because you can't leave a comment...

So carefully observing everyone else's ratings is the way to go! Next year they will triumph over everyone else and win your heart!!

Oh my god thw wings being a physical manifestation of how Mumbo doesnt know Grian anymore. He is an entirely new person, definitely mentally, technically physically-- even if he looks the same. Mumbo honing in on the wings ("his wings ruffle...behind him" "it's a foreign motion...that escapes translation") that are the thing that's different and needs a "map" drawn of it, because it's the only thing that's actually different. Sure, Mumbo can tell grian doesnt even act the same anymore, but that's much harder to put a finger on. He didnt have those wings before.

^I like to think there's some form of uncanny valley effect that people who knew Grian before feel looking at him now, ignoring the wings.

The wings again!! *is in distress* (side note i love seeing the world building youve been telling us about finally in the fic!!) Ok this actually makes the way Mumbo focused on the wings mean so much more. Wings are dangerous to code in, thats why Players use spotters. Grian vanished from Evo and showed up on Hermitcraft YEARS(?) later, without a word to anyone, and reappeared with those wings. Imagine going on a trail with a friend whose never hiked before and then they stop responding to your messages only to show up again after a couple of months like "Hey I just climbed Everest". You would most definitely be distressed to say the least. (although, question: how proficient was grian's coding?)

His actions are unpredictable- you dont know if he's going to laugh or get upset- really nicely encapsulates Mumbo's internal feeling that he doesn't know grian anymore. Those moments where he laughs or stares with those blank eyes, those are normal-- but linger a second too long, or catch a glimpse of the worlds that have passed since Evo started-- and he can't shake the feeling that something is wrong with Grian

Omg YES im so so glad what i was aiming for with the wings came through, thats exactly what i was going for!! This is the only physical indication that Grian has changed, and therefore the most distinct!!! Ofc Mumbo is gonna hone in on that-- its the clearest aspect he can see. And yeah, i think the first few times people saw him with the wings, it was definitely a little uncanny valley, until they got used to it

OKAY I'LL BE REAL THE EXQUISITE DELICACY BIT WAS NOT INTENTIONAL BUT IS A VERY HAPPY ACCIDENT ALDJWKDNEKNDKDE altho i did really enjoy messing with some wordplay in other areas. My particular favorite is the "inner machinations of a dropper" line-- it was such a fun way to refer to mechanical parts while simultaneously making it sound like the dropper is up to no good 😂😂😂😂😂😂

It was super nice to really put this aspect of the worldbuilding into the fic-- one of these days i'll probably rewrite chapters 1 and 2, and maybe do a little editing on 3, just so i can sorta bake those concepts in there with a little more deliberation than i did when i was first posting :] BUT YES altho its not so much dangerous (for a Player, at least) as it is difficult, and very finicky. Grian's coding is super proficient as a Player (he's still working on melding the instinctive coding of the Watchers with his Player brain tho), so he was always very capable of it, but like you pointed out, under normal circumstances he would have 100% asked someone to be his spotter while he coded them in, just in case he bugged out

And yep, we're talking a timespan of years here!!! This is a bit loose, so its subject to some minor changes, but my general timeline is that Grian, once Watcher-ified, was trapped with the Watchers for about 2-3 years before he made his escape. After that he bounced between hubs and servers for a few months, before ending up on Hermitcraft to stay. The fic itself takes place somewhere around early mid-season, i think-- since i headcanon each season to take place over a few years rather than a few months, i'd say this means Grian has been with Hermitcraft for, oh.... a little under a year now by the time this fic takes place, if that makes sense. Again these are not concrete but thats the general timeframe we're talking here. I'll probably make a separate post about this later, but in Player culture its not SUPER weird to go gallivanting on your own for a few years-- but the complete radio silence and abrupt exit from Evo are what make this notable from the norm to Mumbo and everyone else who knew Grian before

Im so deeply and genuinely happy that the sense of unease came across so well-- i was admittedly worried that the pacing was a bit fast for how Grian's reactions kept turning on a dime, but this reassures me that it works :] i wanted it to really feel like this is a familiar stranger we're looking at through Mumbo's eyes, and also i wanted to give Grian some room to display those uglier trauma symptoms that nobody talks about much in fiction. I like to think that first year back on Hermitcraft was a difficult one for him, mood-wise, because behind that rough facade his brain is about as scorched-earth as it fuckin gets

Sneaking out of the shared bedroom with Renjun proved to be easy than you expected. You expected him to wake up from how you move a lot in your bed, considering he’s been restless ever since the promotions, but he was dead asleep when you stood up from the bed. You didn’t want to disturb his well-deserved rest so you tip-toed away.

Although staying awake late at night is a bad idea, you couldn’t bring yourself to care when you felt a large craving for food. You recently learned that you were alarmingly underweight and it’s been eating up your mind. It became a nightly occurrence where you sneak in at midnight to eat whatever you can get your hands on.

However, you wouldn’t ever steal your member’s food, of course. That’s why you spent a lot on snacks. If you’re lucky and you’re alone, you’re most likely to order. Jaemin has been complaining that you’re hogging the cabinet space and the fridge with the number of snacks you’ve been buying. 

You scoffed at yourself. You didn’t see the younger ones complaining, and you don’t mind when they help themselves with the things you buy.

You opened the fridge, mouth watering at the sight in front of you. You grabbed at the first thing you could see, which is a milk carton. You slid down to the counter behind you, drinking the milk in one gulp.

Tonight might’ve been the luckiest you’ve ever felt since you’ve just recently restocked the snack supply and added the cartons of milk as a mix. You remembered Renjun’s mouth drop when he comes back seeing three cardboard boxes filled with your favorite snacks, ramen, and drinks(you threw in the tteokbokki as a bonus, too) and you stocking the cabinets.

They would’ve been suspicious by now, but that’s the normal life of someone with the same lifestyle you have. You’ve subjected yourself to intense diets to remain perfect in the public eye, and now you paid the price. You only noticed the signs when you felt yourself getting tired more easily than usual and how you would throw up occasionally after a heavy meal.

It was dark in the dorm, and only the light from the fridge is the only one illuminating the room. You grabbed the Honey Butter chips, picking a large amount to fit in your mouth. You eyed your next victim; the box of thin Oreos on the counter.

“(Y/N)?”

You jumped in surprise, not expecting anyone to come in to see your nightly routine. You turned around to see a flabbergasted Renjun looking at you.

“Oh my god, what is this mess?” he exclaimed, walking to your position. He started to pick up the empty carton of milk lying down on the floor. You didn’t even notice that you’d already finished it in one gulp.

Examining the object, he sighed, “So you’ve been the one finishing all our milk supply, and I thought it was Jeno or Jisung...”

Guiltily, you adjusted your sitting position, leaning your thighs against your chest. You didn’t want anyone of your members to see you in your miserable state, especially not Renjun. You are aware that he will be incredibly worried and fussy.

“R-Renjun, I can explain...”

You didn’t notice Renjun sitting next to your huddled position. You couldn’t bring yourself to look at him, knowing he’ll be squeezing you for answers. Not that it is a bad thing, since he does deserve to know at some point.

“(Y/N)...” he murmured, “You told me you didn’t want to have dinner earlier because you were full...”

“I was, and I’m not particularly hungry. I just felt like eating,” you explained briefly.

He tilted his head, “Just like the other nights you’ve been sneaking around?”

Your eyes widened, turning to look at him hastily. So he’s known all this time...

“Renjun please...”

“No, (Y/N), I feel as if it’s more than just that...” he said, his voice getting softer, “You don’t have to tell me, I just need to make sure you’re feeling okay...”

If it weren’t for you holding the bag of chips in your fist tightly, you would’ve grabbed Renjun and hugged him tightly. You held back the tears that are building up in your eyes. You don’t want to cry, not now. Not when you look like a mess on the kitchen floor.

“We can keep this our little secret, don’t worry.” he said, his shoulder now touching yours after he moved closer to you, “But you shouldn’t ever feel ashamed about yourself.”

You nodded, slowly eating a chip in your mouth.

“You shouldn’t eat so fast though, you might choke and die.”

“That’s true. You want some?”

“Sure, but you’re the one cleaning this up.”
