[ID: A greyscale bust drawing of Martin and Jon from The Magnus Archives making charged eye contact while Martin intimately lights a cigarette in Jon's mouth. End ID.]
A ko-fi request for charged jmart eye contact! I think this is sort of like. A daydream both of them are having separately while sitting on opposite sides of a room not talking to each other

Slightly exhausted, just a bit tipsy, and on my way to think about Neuvillette's reactions to receiving a genuine compliment. Specifically about his eyes. Because every compliment he's received has always been about some kind of learned behavior - his composure, his eloquence, his authority in court - and never about, well, himself. Especially not his eyes.
No, those were usually met with disdain, fear, or a general uneasiness. Even the most well meaning humans can't hold his gaze for very long - and the list of those that can is even shorter. It's something he's made peace with: catching the Iudex's eye is something most (if not all) Fontainians seek to avoid. Whether it's in the courtroom or on the street, Neuvillette's gaze is cold and impassive; aloof and indifferent to the passing of time around him.
Except..it isn't.
He's observant, curious; he casts a critical eye not in the case of judgement, but for the sake of his own lack of understanding. There's an innocence there -- no, not innocence. Even in your tipsy babbles, you had used the term "inexperience" to describe the heavily veiled emotion there. A barely there hint of softness - one that was most often seen when he spoke with the Melusines and rarely (yet with increased frequency) directed towards you.
Neuvillette finds it...unnerving in a sense. Not in a particularly negative way, but one that brings him a strange sense of calm. Peace bordering on comfort. For someone to notice his mannerisms and behaviors and see them not as the immortal eccentricities of the Chief Justice, but as features that make him who he is...well, he's not exactly sure how to feel about it. Perhaps it's because he doesn't understand how he's supposed to feel about this - about being known in such a rarely intimate way. And perhaps to you it isn't as intimate as it is in his mind (a feeling he hopes isn't as visible as the other emotions you've been able to find in his eyes) but he cannot help but hope that it is.
To have his own questions and curiosities met not with anxiety, but with genuine enthusiasm is already a shift for him. To then be seen by you - known by you - not as the Iudex of Fontaine or even as the Hydro Sovereign but as Neuvillette...he will have to take some time for himself to understand it.
But for now, he'll meet your eyes and give you a slight nod; a small acknowledgment and murmured "thank you" in response to your compliment. For now, he'll just have to hope that his veil of impartiality is enough to continue to hide these thoughts.
For now...for now.

Another example of Dean's love for Cas
I watched a show. So far so good. But then I saw a scene where the girl tells the guy to get out of the room despite his brother telling him multiple times before and he does it when SHE says it. What happens in the very next episode? Well, he tells her about his feelings for her.
So what my brain did is that he thought about Destiel (obviously, of course, as always) and thought about how this could apply to them.
Are there times when Dean does what Cas tells him to? The answer is yes there are.
Episode 5x02, Castiel wants Dean's necklace to find God:
CASTIEL: May I borrow it?
DEAN: No.
CASTIEL: Dean. Give it to me.
DEAN (takes off the amulet): All right, I guess.
2. Episode 15x09, their whole trip in Purgatory (before and during):
DEAN: Chuck has Sam. I'm not leaving him.
CAS: Chuck's not gonna kill him. That's not the ending.
DEAN: Wh— Then he'll torture him.
CAS: Dean, will you stop? Just stop being so stupid.
DEAN: What?
CAS: If we attack Chuck now, we don't have anything that can hurt him. We get that Leviathan blossom, complete Michael's spell, build the Cage. That's our chance. That's the way we'll save Sam, and that's the way we'll save the world.
Boom! They go to Purgatory. Then, when they're in, this happens:
DEAN: [...] Okay. Let's split up.
CAS: What?
DEAN: You go that way. I'll go this way. We'll meet back at the Rift, alright? We'll cover more ground. We'll better our odds.
CAS: Yeah. We'll also improve our odds of getting lost or killed. Come on.
Boom! Cas sets out, and Dean follows after him.
There might be more examples, that was just those I could remember. If you have others, please feel free to add them in comments or reblogs. Anyway, it's funny to see that straight from the start of their relationship Dean already did what Cas told him to.
Did Dean have feelings for Cas since season 5? Maybe, I'm not sure what my headcanon is about this yet.

I almost sent an essay in your inbox, but just know that I am now rotating v3 Chapter 4 in my brain too.
Gontas writing sets up such a rock solid foundation for this trial, and it's the only trial that made me feel more dread the second time around than going in blind and I love it for that.
LMAO FEEL FREE TO SEND AN ESSAY I ALREADY GOT ONE (/POS)
ITS TRUE. I was nervous going into trial 4 the first time but the second time I felt almost sick with anxiety. But that might just be me, trial 4 Is almost entirely too much for me. The first time I played it was basically just a 6 hour anxiety attack. Its no wonder it hit me so viscerally that I still can't stop thinking about it.

I had to unlike and then like that Daniel quote again because of your tags. Yes exactly!!! Daniel is perfectly aware how ridiculous and borderline paradoxical his situation with Armand is but he's way past the point of caring and he even finds it amusing. He's delirious and a little off his rocker yet also very conscious of just how absurd it all is, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
Ah, thank you, that's very sweet!
Like the thing is, at the end there in Chicago, Daniel's situation is entirely his own making. He's the one who left, who tried to go out into the mortal world and.... *waves hand because we don't really know what he did for six months* My suspicion was he was playing a fucked up game of chicken where he was hoping Armand would decide he loved Daniel too much to lose him and he'd come get him and make him a vampire which... Daniel won by only due to interference from the other side. (Flag on the field for the murderous vampire queen!)
(I will say, I think Armand would have done it anyway. I think the reason Daniel was allowed to be gone for so long is Armand was also playing a similar game of chicken with himself and that either way, Daniel would have been a vampire by the end of 1985, even if he hadn't yet been in late-stage organ failure.)
But I digress. We really do get an incredible picture of who Daniel is and their relationship from the Daniel sections of QotD. Like it's not a lot of words but every sentence is weighted and heavy and gives us so much more than the sum of it parts. Like thanks to like this line and maybe 2 others, we know that even though Daniel was delirious from hunger and probably dehydration, and he was dying of alcoholism and therefore his brain was all messed up (dying does a number on you), he still had a dark sense of humor, and a sense of wit, and he was a sarcastic bastard who could appreciate the irony of the situation he got himself in. Gotta love him.
Devil's minion, indeed.

Hello I just excited saw your tags on an L post about what you think his enneagram type is !!! Can you go deeper into what u see his type as and why?? :)
Hi hi! I got into the Enneagram a couple years back for funsies, and I think L is probably a Type 5 with a 6 wing, which I guess is called either "The Troubleshooter" or "The Investigator" (lol, fitting).
The Type 5s tend to be quite logical and independent and intelligent, very focused on gathering information and sussing out meanings and analyzing and interpreting data. The Type 6 tends to be skeptical and private and cautious and focused, which I think would be his most likely secondary type (rather than the Type 4, which is a bit more of an artsy and emotional and sensitive type).
Here is what the write-up for the 5w6 says:
People with an enneagram type 5 wing 6 personality usually identify the most with the type 5, but also share traits with the 6 type. They tend to be practical, independent, and logical in their behavior. They are much more cooperative than other 5 types and have a passion for using their knowledge to solve real-world problems.
Basic Fear
Five wing sixes fear being useless or incapable. They seek to improve the world around them in order to feel worthy.
Basic Desire
Their basic desire is to be competent and useful. They usually show this by picking up new skills and pieces of knowledge that can be of benefit.
Troubleshooters may withdraw from others to cope with stressful situations, which can tend to make them feel lonely.
In summary, Enneagram 5w6 personalities tend to...
Be hard-working and analytical problem-solvers
Withdraw from others when stressed
Prefer to spend time thinking alone
Fear being incapable or incompetent
Make practical and logical decisions
Enneagram 5w6 Strengths
Being focused and well-organized
Passion for learning and growing
Solving difficult or complex problems
Remaining calm in times of crisis
Enneagram 5w6 Weaknesses
Struggling to relate to and understand others
Tendency to be private and defensive
Being perceived as cold or aloof
Difficulty taking action when uninspired
How Enneagram 5w6 personalities like to work
Communicating with an Enneagram 5w6
Avoid emotional expressions and allow five wing sixes space to think and process.
Meeting with an Enneagram 5w6
Keep meetings short and sweet; focus on clearly addressing the purpose.
Emailing an Enneagram 5w6
Be direct when emailing, allowing five wing sixes to share insightful and new ideas.
Giving feedback to an Enneagram 5w6
Offer constructive criticism and honest feedback; give specific areas for improvement.
Resolving conflict with an Enneagram 5w6
Focus on logically expressing your perspective; work toward a mutual understanding, allowing them time to think privately, if needed.
Enneagram 5w6 Motivations
Enneagram 5w6s tend to be motivated and energized by...
Solving or preventing problems
Spending time alone to gather their thoughts
Feeling like they’re contributing to society
Pursuing knowledge in the specific area that sparks their personal interest
Enneagram 5w6 Stress
Enneagram 5w6s tend to be stressed and drained by...
Spending too much time around others
Needing to be emotionally vulnerable
Feeling unwanted or rejected by others
Self-doubt and insecurity
--
I think it all sounds a lot like him. The introversion and fierce independence, the problem-solving skills and preoccupation with privacy when socializing, withdrawn when moody and listless when uninspired, etc. The list of strengths and motivations reminds me a lot of him when he is successfully honing in on Kira during the beginning of the story, and the stresses and weaknesses remind me a lot of L when he is struggling more during the Yotsuba Arc.
