Good Morning-

Some years ago, last century, when the world was much larger my teenage self fell in love with Ireland.

It started with a school project for the year.

Write about strife in the history of the world.

I chose 1916 Ireland.

In that year, I learned everything I possibly could.

A few years later when it was time to apply for college, I applied to Trinity College in Dublin.

Imagine my thrill when a huge envelope with postage from Ireland appeared in our mailbox.

I was accepted.

My dreamy romantic plan was to live in Ireland in a tiny thatched cottage by the sea, ride horses on the beach, pick heather on the cliffs and write.

I never went, as my mom explained that JFK Airport was not going to be a weekly commuting hub.

Perhaps one day I shall.

My other little story about Ireland is more recent and took place when I lived in Manhattan.

What I loved most about the city was its diversity. That it was kaleidoscopic in the fact that every day and moment was different.

One day I heard a beautiful Irish voice in conversation, behind me on 5th Avenue.

I slowed my pace.

At the corner, by the red light. I turned to my right side to see Bono standing next to me.

I wanted to simply state my gratitude that 'your music saved me on so many levels. Your gorgeous voice took me on a journey. That during the saddest moment in my life, your music comforted me.'

But instead I remained cool New Yorker who respects another's space, and simply smiled.
