Cole groaned, dropping himself onto your bed. You smile, turning over to him and pulling him close.

Cole was exhausted. Between training, saving citizens, chores and listening to the other ninja bicker back and forth, his energy was completely depleted. All he wanted now was to rest with you.

“Rough day?” you ask, carding your fingers through his black waves. You felt the built up sweat and grime from his days worth of work, but you didn’t mind.

Cole nodded his head against your chest. When everything hurt like this, all he needed was you. He could take medicine or drink a special tea, but he’d rather be layed up with you being given special treatment.

You always drew him a nice hot bath and massaged his sore muscles. You made him take things slow and have him relax for the rest of the day. Cole didn’t often take time for himself and was always trying to push though. He felt like he always had to be the black ninja, Elemental Master of Earth. Always keeping up his appearance as strong and independent.

But with you, he could be Cole Brookstone. He didn’t need to be tough, he didn’t need to be strong. He could forget about his ninja duties and the guilt that came with it.

Cole finds himself being lifted up gently by warm hands. You help him up and begin leading him to the bath.

The sound of running water catches his attention, he looks up to see you picking out a bath salt. You decide on a lavender scented salt, tossing some in before leaving to get clothes for the both of you. You usually bathed with him, washing his hair and cleaning the grime from his skin.

You return with underwear and shirts for the both of you, and a pair of Coles shorts for your self. Cole begins to undress and slip into the tub, and you follow shortly after. You sink in behind him, and rest your forehead against his back. You inhale deeply, smelling the earth on him. After dating Cole for so long, it’s become one of your favorite smells. It always reminds you of him no matter where you smell it.

You exhale and begin to lather him with his body wash, soothing over his sore muscles. You wash the dirt and grime from his skin. Cole relaxes his body, leaning back against you with a sigh. He missed days like these. The days where you coddled him and took such careful care. You’re so delicate with him, feather light touches to his skin washing the dirt and caked on sweat off his deeply tanned skin.

Scars littered his body, which once caused him a great deal of self hate. Through your help however, he began to like his scars.

He thought of that now, as you washed over a particularly raised scar. You handled all parts of him with care, even muttering how much you liked them or how cool you thought them to be.

“What’s wrong love?” you ask, dumping water onto his head, and lathering shampoo in your hands.

Cole had been strangely silent today, not saying anything. At first you assumed he was simply too exhausted to speak but something in you prodded deeper.

He sighs, leaning back into you. Many thoughts ran in his head, most of which being ridiculously cheesy and romantic. He had so much to say but couldn’t articulate it in an understandable way. Even if he could, he was so tired he couldn’t speak that much.

“I just..I really love you. Thank you” and he went silent again, relishing in your fingers massaging shampoo into his scalp. A giggle passed through your lips while you wash out the lather. You can practically feel his eyebrow raise, “I thought it was something bad”

You stand and towel the two of you off, standing in front of him and towel drying his hair. “I love you too, sweets” with a kiss on his cheek you turn to get dressed.

Cole stands still for a moment, wondering how he got so lucky to have you.

Long ramble: ok, sooo, I kind of have two work crushes now. The recent work crush is a field manager. So, I initially met her in a meeting I was presenting in. The key speaker was going around and introducing everyone. When he got to her, she turned on her camera (I am WFH) and I literally said out loud, “wait a minute hold on,” LOL. Like, short disheveled curly hair, septum piercing, and round glasses. Just very masc-looking and young. It is not common for young women to hold the position she has!! And, she was cute like?? I didn’t think she was into girls, even though she def looks like a lesbian (hey, you don’t know sometimes). Anyway, I kept thinking about her after the meeting so I messaged her a few days later and was like, “omg, I meant to tell you in the meeting the other day that you are so prettyy :)” And, she was like, “thank you!! you are too!” And we just kind of chatted about where we lived and how long we been with the company, the positions we’ve held, etc. Anyway, l didn’t hear from her for a few weeks after that. Then, randomly she messaged me saying she hopes my week went well and asked for my number! She told me she broke her ankle a couple of weeks ago while playing roller derby. She plays on a rec team. You KNOW I had to look up the team on instagram and, not to my surprise, everyone on the team looks like a lesbian, pride flags, tattoos, and short cuts galore. And, the second most recent pic posted is a pic of her flashing her braces propped up on her crutches and her broken ankle. Anyway, long story short, I think she wants me.
