feel like the global tasks sweep strat should probably be nerfed somehow. my thought would be, give each team an individual ten minute overall cooldown on global task claims. that is to say, a certain team can only claim one global task per ten minutes. say, deliver gas masks, and then in ten minutes you're allowed to deliver tea, and then after another ten minutes you can claim hot chocolate.
another teams would be able to claim a global task for bananas during this time, and their own ten minute cooldown would start.
(the global tasks can either keep their individual ten minute cooldown [i.e. after tea is claimed no one else can claim tea for ten minutes] or a slightly shorter cooldown, say 5-7 minutes)
when a global task is claimed, everyone is notified, right? if not, in my hypothetical, they will be.
then, a team trying to sweep six tasks at once would actually take sixty minutes to do, allowing another team to swoop in and have a chance to stop it in cinematic, entertaining fashion rather than tubbo having to grind resources and then log out in front of the merchant to counter this, which is boring for everyone (including the person delivering). plus, if a team cuts it down to the last second and ends up getting delayed, they physically wouldn't have time to make a delivery, meaning even being a BIT of a nuisance could be a viable strategy, even if you can't manage to kill; if you can STALL you could still wreck their plans.
that's my dream anyway idk i'm not a game designer. just think it would be interesting for most players
(i elaborate under)
red team would have to shake up their strategies, which is fun since they're a team that kinda has to rely more on strategy than outright brawn (overall the team's pvp can't be relied on unless they have carre or phil, as seen today when pierre, bad, and etoiles attacked phil cellbit foolish and baghera, and cellbit and foolish both died to etoiles in the attack, despite it being a 4 on 1 at the time. baghera was killed by bad soon after. phil was the one to get the kills. the first day, when blue attacked [niki, tubbo, and bad as i recall] carre got both kills)
the other teams would then still have a way to stop a global sweep since a sweep would have to start earlier, allowing not only more time to arrive at global to pvp about it, but ALSO allowing another team to swoop in and steal the goal out from under the team again
i'm gonna use it in a scenario bc i'm badboyhalo and i can't stop myself from making examples:
so, tonight, if the proposed cooldown was in place, bad and tubbo would both still had roughly 17 minutes when red team would have HAD to start the sweep process if they wanted all six global tasks: 1 hour until the server closed at absolute MINIMUM. more for safety's sake.
therefore, in this scenario, there's a lot to happen
blue team could wait at globals, knowing red will probably try this strategy, and attempt or perhaps SUCCEED in killing red. if they kill red entirely, the operation is a wash; red doesn't have to gear to come back from scratch and take out blue team, and even if they could, the travel time to return to globals alone would mean they wouldn't get all the global tasks, potentially meaning they don't take the lead. if blue team is unable to kill red and dies themselves or has to retreat, but succeeds in delaying red, red would face the same problem.
if red sends in all of the task items on one person, and that person dies, even if the rest survived, blue could loot the items from that person and would be able to either use the items themselves, if green is currently the owner, or could run away with the items, effectively wasting red's time and again, meaning they wouldn't get all tasks claimed even if they were able to overtake the runner and reclaim their items.
i'm unclear what would happen if red divided the task items between them since it seems like the person claiming the task doesn't have to have all (or any? again, unclear) the items in THEIR inventory in order to claim so long as a teammate is nearby with the items in their inv (evidence: pac's vod "voltei... o que tá acontecendo no QSMP?!" at roughly 3:00:00; tubbo claims tea and tea is taken out of pac's inventory. i don't know the limits of this strategy)
blue team also has time to swoop in and steal a global task out from under red during this time. say, if red team had claimed the task for 10 tea leaves, upping the price to 15 tea leaves, and then blue team snuck in and claimed the task and set the price up to 20 tea leaves, (since the proposed 10 minute cooldown on claims would be TEAM LIMITED; red's cooldown applying to red only and so on). if red waited until the last second, they wouldn't have the time to reclaim this task even if they did have the resources, possibly forcing them to start their sweep earlier to counter this possibility, at which point team members who had logged on earlier and are out of time by the end of the night, OR members who live in time zones that don't allow them to stay up until server close, may have an easier shot at participating in defending against a global sweep.
all of this DIRECT CONFLICT would make for good audience entertainment and heighten the stakes of an attempted global sweep, since it would practically have to be one team defending globals for an hour while they pipe all their resources into it, knowing that if they die another team could easily swipe their task resources and use it themselves (along with the rest of their gear). it makes it more interesting, while still mostly viable.
plus it would force more strategizing for red team which is maybe just a personal plus, i just really like seeing people planning both in advance and in spur of the moment. it's really satisfying to see how a plan comes together and succeeds or fails; plus, since red team is the main team using this strategy at the moment and their main draw and strength as a team is cohesion and communication this would be completely fucking riveting for me as a viewer so maybe this is just a personal thing. but i really really think it would be fun
but again, i'm not a game designer, or a qsmp player, or a qsmp admin, or honestly even really a gamer? so maybe i'm off my rocker and out of my gourd and this isn't viable or balanced in any way shape or form but YKNOW what is this blog except putting stupid thoughts into the void and seeing if this time the void spits back hate mail so. i'm folding this into a paper airplane and throwing it into the abyss. hopefully it made sense.
k love you appreciate you getting this far, have a good week!!
(i hope your team gets a win in dramatic fashion and celebrates together!!! i hope they come together and unleash a plan so spectacular it takes the server by storm!!! i hope it's so good it becomes a vod you go back to even years in the future!!!! i hope you have a good week!!!!!)
#qsmp#qsmp purgatory#shut up vic#block game brainrot#yes it's long beneath the keep reading no i'm incapable of being succinct#i color coded the important parts though i just wanted to try to be clear#examples are my bread and butter i do programming and math they make everything easier for me to understand#god i hope this makes sense to other people i didn't ask my biological peer reviewer so idk if this is stupid or not#tbh it's just a tumblr post so i guess it's whatever if it is but i put wayyy more work than necessary into double checking timelines lol#(i didn't watch blue today sorry :/ idr if i mentioned in the body of the post but i main red team)#(their energy is just more entertaining for me personally; though i kept an eye on pac once i could multi-watch!)#anyway other team mains feel free to weigh in if i'm making weird assumptions about what the teams are capable of#heaven knows my pov is biased here LMFAO#((for what it's worth i am fully aware this means red team aren't rly underdogs anymore and i super want them to be kicked in the stomach))#((back to the drawing board; what will they do??? I WANT TO KNOW :O))#((seeing them crawling back to victory from being like two pixels on the bar on sunday was great. more of that pls))#idk i've rambled enough#long tags#ignoring daylight savings it's technically one am goodnight friends i hope this post doesn't suck hahahaha...............#OH AND IF ANYONE THINKS I SHOULD TAG SOMETHING FOR FILTER PURPOSES ABSOLUTELY LET ME KNOW#i want to be courteous but i think this post is pretty neutral in tone? but if you think it deserves a tag i will absolutely add it!!!!!

Hello! May I ask for the BG3 gang with an autistic gn Tav who is. Very Very Large but also quite young (think like... Older teen.) who just decides that Astarion/Wyll/Halsin/Gale etc is their new favourite person and WILL NOT leave them alone.
It would be very funny if they just... didn't realise Tav was actually A Kid™ and thought they were just a weirdly clingy grownup. Except Halsin. Halsin would know Immediately.
Inspired by my dumb ass being enormous and this having happened to me irl many times.
Bg3 Characters With a Young Older Looking Autistic Tav
A/n: This idea is so silly I love it. This is obviously written as platonic because reader is younger and baulder's gate characters are older and I don't write weird stuff like that lol although I'm sure that's expected. Also also i did all of them together because I do not have the energy to write sperate headcannons for each of them, dont worry they all get their moment
Gn Reader, Child/teen Reader
Tumblr media
This was an... interesting situation
Everyone on the team assumed you were just assumed you were a bit childish for an adult
I mean could you blame them? You were massive, anyone would assume you were an adult
Except for Halsin
He could easily tell your age, but it's something he kept between the two of you, mainly for safety
Halsin takes more of a dad approach if you cling to him
He's very protective of you and teaches you new skills
He also keeps anyone else on the team from hitting on you, for obvious reasons, but wouldn't say why
He's also the most attentive when it comes to your autism, he's always keeping an eye out for you and helping when he can
It took the others longer to find, though
Wyll was the second to put two and two together
Once he realized, he grilled you about why you didn't tell anyone about it
He isn't too harsh though, and takes a more "fun uncle" role
He always makes sure to entertain you, he's the guy who's got fidgets on him just for you incase you need them
He also decides not to tell anyone for your safety after consulting with Halsin, but he does wish you said something sooner
Gale is the second to last to find out, after trying to teach you something about magic
He had questioned why you didn't know any of this, it was supposed to be common knowledge for someone your age
Or someone he thought was your age
He just stared at you blankly for a good minute after you told him how old you actually were
He's more upset at himself for not noticing to be honest
He realizes how that actually makes a lot of sense
Gale, like Halsin, also takes a more fatherly approach
he teaches you things you may have not known before, and is one of the most helpful when it comes to working through your autism
He's a knowledgeable man and can tell what you need, probably before you do
He's very protective, often insisting that you stay out of battles, but it's not like you listen to him in that department
For comedy's sake, Astarion is the last to find out, and he is pissed
He's mad that no one told him, even if it wasn't too long Gale found out and most of the party knew
He looked so dumbfounded when he found out and like Gale, was more mad that he didn't realize sooner
He's upset, but he gets over it quickly after a day or two of snarky comments and like Wyll, takes on a cool uncle postion
The whole party suddenly wants to protect you and it's suddenly become one of their top goals to return you to your parent/guardian if you have one, next to y'know, getting the worms out of your head
If you don't have somewhere to go they may or may not argue on who takes you once it's all over
Generally, you're taken good care of from then on, much better than you were before
Everyone's very attentive to you and tries to be aware of what you may need at any given point
Since they all have some type of trauma, they want to make sure the same doesn't happen to you, especially so young
Being in this situation is stressful for anyone, let alone a child, and a child with a disability
They do their best to make you happy and keep you safe
They may struggle, but they do their best, and now you have people to call family

UPDATES ON MY JOURNEY
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Heyy all! I've been focusing on my senior professional medical year and it has been stressful. So here are some things I manifested effortlessly and a few things without me thinking about it. Long ass post ahead! ⚠️⚠️
1. Getting more pocket money than usual. Like my parents usually transact in my account like a $80 or $100 AUD per month. But in both feb and march this year, they transacted me $500 and $700 AUD! Plus! I occasionally find $10 or $50 cash in my classroom or on the streets sometimes (and they come lie next to my feet 😭) I'd ask everyone in my class if it's theirs, and they say no. What do y'all expect me to do? Like go and give it to the university management?? 😭 hell no, so i kept it lol.
2. MANIFESTED DIOR'S LIP OILS!! 😭😭 LIKE 5 OF THEM 😭 YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH I'VE OBSESSED WITH LIP OILS 😭😭 AND I WANTED THE RASPBERRY ONE SO BAD, AND GUESS WHAT? I MANIFESTED IT ALONG WITH 4 OTHER SHADESS OMGGG 😭😭😭
3. My crush giving me hints that she's obsessed with me 😭 like she literally told me 'you're so sweet and caring, I've never met a person like this after my grandma' cus her grandma passed away recently and she was so depressed. She even had an eye infection, so she stopped coming to the uni. So i had to make sure she's alright, and met her everyday cus she needed someone real bad. Like she needed to talk to someone and get that thing bothering her outta her head. I was there all along whatever she was going through (don't come at me y'all, ik if we help someone they would say all these things but she's my crush lol so) She's also getting real close to me, like she tells me how annoying people are lol. She loves skin ship, physical touch, being clingy around me, and complimenting me 😭😭 so these are the hints 😭 like friends wouldn't do that right? Would they?? (My friends diss me right in front of everyone 😶)
4. I've always been the type to care too much for the silliest things, nowadays I don't really put my energy into it and become all anxious. My anxiety levels have completely gone down like I'm literally cool asf?? Even while being in public?? Literally yess
5. Manifested getting my hair coloured next week! and my mom permitted me! For my cousin's engagement in april, I wanna be there like the hot younger sister I am lol. I just wanna make my relatives and their kids jealous cus they made fun of me when I was younger (my younger self has been dreaming for this moment) so why not a revenge glow up?? 😭
6. Losing weight even though I eat like a pig due to my study stress. Like literally I ate a 5 course meal one day and lost 2 kgs the next day? (cus I randomly checked my weight for 2 days cus I had to submit my height and weight to the university student records)
7. Getting a natural blush on my face! Like it's such a game changer, I look like a movie star y'all 😭✋🏻
8. My teachers complimenting me for my discipline and high scores. As yk uni professors don't even give af bout students and they complimented me??
9. Getting into a new friend group! My old one was too toxic and they would always bully me (verbally) my new friend group is literally soo damn enjoyable! Like they're the cool kids of the year 😭 and now I'm one too!
10. As I mentioned in my older post that I'm moving into an apartment. We moved in and it was too difficult for me to sleep as the place was new and also there we're disturbances in the night time like stomping noises or playing loud music at night. So the neighbors there were too sweet that they introduced and comforted us that it's okay and if something's bothering us they'll take care of it. And they literally made the people who we're causing those disturbances to vacate out 😭😭✋🏻
11. My hair getting shinier! It was brittle before as I was severely anemic, now my baby hair is back and it's shining ✨
12. I overheard my parents conversing that they should make me audition for an entertainment company....like what? 😭😭✋🏻 when I asked them once years back they denied giving me a 4 hour lecture and now they wanna make me audition?? Like literally 😭 y'all watch me at the Grammy's (after 5 years lol)
13. Getting into the void on command or intention.
14. I literally get free foods everywhere I go 😭😭
15. I got free gifts from my uncle who's living in France! He works at a fashion company and he sent me perfumes and a few outfits (I can't reveal it I'm sorry)
I ONLY WAS THINKING ABOUT GETTING MY LIP OIL, GETTING CLOSE TO MY CRUSH AND FOCUSING ON MY STUDIES. THE REST, I MANIFESTED WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT IT.
SO WHAT NEXT?
Tumblr media
I've decided to respawn to my waiting next month. I'm still scripting how my waiting room should be... So it might take time for me. So till then I'm gonna be strengthening my self concept even more, and also getting more and more excited to be in my waiting room! I want my waiting room to be like a more like a sci fi movie and a princess fairytale combined 😭 (ik I'm weird). Like I just want my favorite anime characters to be there to help me script my DR ✋🏻 So I'm kinda in a more excited mode lately to script my waiting room! Will give you updates on how my waiting room will be in a future post! So until then take care, love you, byeeee byeeee!

May we have a story about Jack's clingy side and uses his puppy dog eyes to make MC to cuddle with him longer? (He uses the puppy dog eyes whenever he wants something and it works 100% of the time) Jack kind of reminds me of a giant puppy.
I love this idea! Jack definitely knows how to channel puppy energy to his advantage, and my MC Alice definitely falls for it every time.
In fact, I love this idea so much that it inspired me to turn it into a quick writing prompt. I also remembered that I owe everyone a nice little Jack x reader fic from the poll I made last year, so I wrote this writing exercise in 1st person gender neutral perspective.
So here it is, just a short but sweet first draft story about clingy Jack giving his sunshine some puppy dog eyes and pleading to get a bit more cuddle time. I don't think any real warnings apply, though it does get a little suggestive. Also, I think this might count as GrovelCore?
Anyway, I hope you enjoy my writing, and consider leaving a comment please!💕

...
It was nice to have moments like this, just the two of us on the couch cuddled up together. The way Jack wrapped me up in his big, strong arms made me feel so safe, so content. Even though I was tucked comfortably in his lap, he practically surrounded me with his warmth. It was the perfect way to spend a day off from work.
The show on TV was entertaining, but it wasn’t enough to draw my attention away from Jack for long. He didn’t seem to be paying attention to it at all. Every time I looked up at him, I never failed to see those beautiful dark brown eyes of his gazing back at me. His mouth was shaped in a gentle curve of a smile, his expression almost dreamy as he admired me with so much love and adoration in his eyes that it sent my heart racing. I had to look away when the butterflies in my chest fluttered so hard they were ready to burst out of me.
Fuck, I was so down bad for this man, I was down atrocious.
A gloved finger brushed against my cheek, slowly tracing the contours of my face until reaching my chin. The sensation sent a delicious shiver down my spine, and my eyes returned to Jack as he gently guided my face back towards him.
“Looks like the show’s over,” Jack said. I blinked, caught off-guard, before my eyes darted to the screen to see the credits scrolling by. His honeyed voice drew me back before I could get distracted from his loving gaze for long. “What do you want to do now, sunshine?”
The first thought that popped into my head made my cheeks burn and brought back those damn butterflies. The second thought reminded me to check the time.
Ah damn it. Curse must-watch binge-worthy television. Why must I always fall for your siren song of “just one more episode”?
“Not run errands, that’s for sure, but it’s getting late,” I said with a heavy sigh, banishing the butterflies and steamy thoughts to whence they came. “Groceries aren’t going to buy themselves, and I’ve got a bunch of other stuff I should get out of the way while I’m out too.” I sighed again, shoulders slumping.
Being a responsible adult dealing with all the responsible adult bullshit sucked sometimes. A lot of the time. Actually probably most of the time considering how many hours in a day got eaten up by a cringy job and entitled customers.
I twisted away from Jack and tried to stand, but his large muscular arms kept me locked up tighter than iron bars. I turned back to him with a questioning look, only to see him pouting at me.
“I know it’s important to be responsible, sunshine, but don’t you think you’ve been pushing yourself too hard lately?” he asked. “We have plenty of food to last a few more days, and you’ve been working overtime for the past five nights in a row. You come home too exhausted to do anything but sleep, then you go right back to work. It’s not good for you.”
“I know,” I said with a helpless shrug. “But what can I do about it? Bills aren’t going to pay themselves either.”
Jack adjusted his hold on me, not enough that I could slip free, but I could feel his hands glide slowly along my back, sending a shiver up my spine. “I know, but it’s just been so long since we’ve had any cuddle time,” he said, his pout making its way into his voice now.
I couldn’t help but chuckle a little at the way his lower lip jutted out just a little further. “You see me every day,” I teased, trying to lighten up the mood. “Besides, we woke up cuddling this morning, didn’t we? You sleep with me every night.”
“You’ve been too tired to cuddle lately,” Jack said, whining a little. “Even this morning, you didn’t really wake up until halfway through breakfast. This is the first chance in days that I’ve had to really have you all to myself.” He dipped his head down, closer to mine, and I couldn’t help but notice the way the TV’s gentle glow made his dark eyes shine. “I missed you, sunshine.”
His big soulful eyes tugged at my heartstrings, and his gentle caress along my back made me want to melt into him. “I missed you too,” I admitted after a moment. We couldn’t exactly talk when other people were around, and work had been too busy for us to even sneak a kiss without the risk of getting caught in the act.
I was pretty sure Jack wouldn’t mind even if someone else could see him making out with me. In fact, I had a sneaking suspicion that he might even enjoy getting caught. Sometimes this man acted like he had no idea what it meant to feel shame.
Then again, Jack was always painted up like a clown 24/7. If he wasn’t embarrassed by the bright face paint or his silly jokes, then he probably didn’t know the meaning of the word.
Sometimes I wished that I could say the same. The idea of being seen making weird faces while holding onto the air left me feeling a level of cringe that not even the greeting at my job could match. It probably would be a kiss with tongue too knowing Jack.
The thought left me burning, both with mortification and the memory of the way his kisses made me feel.
Maybe it would be worth the embarrassment considering how good of a kisser Jack was.
As if reading my mind, Jack brushed his lips against mine, just a peck, but it was enough to snap my attention entirely to my boyfriend. “Then stay with me,” he said with a hint of desperation to his breathy voice. “Please?” He planted another kiss on my lips, just a little longer but still only a tantalizing taste of what he could offer me. “I need you.”
Jack finished off the last of my resistance by saying my name in that same pleading tone while looking at me with so much love and need in his beautiful dark brown eyes. His desperate voice and puppy dog eyes made me melt like cotton candy in water.
I gave in to him. I couldn’t help it. I was weak to him when he begged me like this, and I needed Jack just as badly as he needed me.
“Jack,” I sighed as I looped my arms around his neck and drew Jack in for another kiss. I could feel him smile against my lips, and he murmured my name again before his tongue slid into my mouth to get a taste of me.
Soon I was pinned against the couch, breathless and panting, with Jack looming above me. His arms were a cage that secured me there and ensured that I wasn’t leaving anytime soon. Not that I wanted to with the way his mouth moved along my neck, hot and wet. I couldn’t help but moan his name as he sucked on my skin, arching up into him.
Even before Jack started tugging at my shirt, I had a feeling that I wasn’t getting any errands done today, but I couldn’t bring myself to care. Every touch, every kiss, and every murmur of my name along with sweet praise made the world around us fade away, until nothing else existed but the two of us and our love.

Hello! I noticed that you’re taking requests and I hope you don’t mind doing mine…
Request: could you write headcanons for Syzoth with a fem!reader from Earthrealm who’s also in a circus as an acrobat who mostly does aerial silks? (Once I heard about him being in a travelling, my mind went ding! and produced this idea)
Ohhhhh, this is so cool! I always wanted to do something about the reader being in a carnival too. And when I heard about Syzoth being in a travelling carnival, it ticked that idea off in my brain as well. 😅 I love the idea of the reader being an acrobat who does aerial silks too! I have always been fascinated by it. 😍 Anyway, here are the headcanons!

Syzoth X Fem!Reader: In The Carnival
⭒⛥⭒⛥⭒⛥⭒⛥⭒⛥⭒⛥⭒⛥⭒⛥⭒⛥⭒⛥⭒⛥⭒⛥⭒⛥⭒⛥⭒⛥⭒⛥⭒⛥⭒⛥⭒
I had worked at the carnival for quite a few years now. Acrobatics were my life—my passion. I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
But my favorite act was the aerial silks. Being up in the air with all my limbs wrapped in silky ropes like a butterfly caught in a spider's web gave me a feeling like no other.
It was a day like any other when another carnival came to town. The newcomers decided to have a visit and watch the shows me and my colleagues would perform.
I was a little more nervous than usual before performing. My audience was one thing, but these people were in my profession, and I could help but worry about their judgment.
Either way, I still pushed through and did my work. It didn't take long before I was swinging in the air like an angel of their entertainment. Listening to their gasps of awe was like music to my ears.
I was pretty tired after the show, so I only said hello to a few of the newcomers before heading back to my tent to rest. Though I wished I could visit for longer—due to feeling quite lonely at the time—I just did not have the energy for it. But just as I sat down, some of my boxes that were stacked came crashing down before me.
Startled, I jumped up from my seat and yelled. My reaction must've scared the unseen intruder as well, because only seconds later, a person appeared out of thin air.
I screamed, grabbing for my pepper spray. Having something to defend yourself with was crucial when being a carnival performer due to the risk of robbers and other unwanted individuals regularly stopping by for a visit.
But lucky for this guy, I waited for just a second before attacking and saw his hands go up in defense. I hesitated, but I kept my little weapon up just in case.
"I-I'm sorry! I-I just w-wanted to come say hello, but I was too nervous!" He frantically tried to explain, his words coming out glued together to make one huge sentence.
Hearing this, I lowered the pepper spray, understanding the situation. I was quite shy as well, so how could I blame him for disappearing the second the chance to socialize came up? If only I had his ability...
"Y-You were invisible. Are you a magician of some kind?" I asked, genuinely curious and wanting to learn more.
He visibly began to relax and let out a faint chuckle, amused by my question. "No, I'm a shape-shifter."
"Shape-shifter?"
He nodded his head and then gave me information that blew my mind away: that he wasn't even a human. I begged him to show me his true form, and after a moment of hesitation, he revealed himself before me.
He was shaking slightly, as if he expected me to hurt him. But that was the complete opposite of what I wanted to do. He was so beautiful—an 8ft reptilian beast. He was something to be cherished, not harmed.
I couldn't contain myself and reached out to pet his nose. His crimson eyes widened, but he allowed it, quickly melting into my touch as I brushed my fingers along his scales.
After that, we spent the entire night talking. There was no sleep; slumber was replaced by facts about our lives and curious questions. By the morning, I felt as if I knew him more than anyone else in the world.
He told me that he was a Zaterran and that his race was from Outworld, as well as the fact that his people banished him for his ability because he was different. My heart broke for the poor man.
However, I reassured him that he was not a freak in my eyes, and I would like to keep in touch. His whole face lit up with joy, and he agreed that he would also like to continue our friendship.
When it came time for the other carnival to leave, I promised dear Syzoth that we would meet again. And I fully intended on keeping that promise. We said our goodbyes, and then I was lonely once again.
Not only that, but my heart then beated with a new desire. I had to see him again someday... I just had to...

[Strawberry tinted - Jade Leech]
Tumblr media
Summary: Jade sighs, closing his eyes. He wants to scream. These feelings of infatuation had long involved past a simple crush. No matter how much he denied, they wouldn't leave him alone anytime soon. You weren't leaving him alone anytime soon.
Notes: gn!reader (use of they/them), fluff and humor, just a silly romcom based on this ask! jade is so whipped for the reader, I was having so much fun writing it got away from me and almost reached 10k what??? special shoutout to ramble anon <3 now cross posted on ao3!
Tumblr media
Jade Leech was not one for sentimentalism.
It was quite clear for everyone around him. Jade didn't show his true emotions on his face and always kept his suave persona up at all times. If he was shocked or sad or angry, no one could ever tell behind his polite smile and sharp eyes.
Even Azul and Floyd, the ones closest to him, had trouble discerning his feelings at times. Jade was very discreet with his actions and words, oftentimes leaving things to be read between the lines.
Thus, everyone and their mothers could atest to that: Jade Leech was not a sentimental person. He was calm and collected, acting as if he was above and in control of every situation, untouchable by such fickle things such as emotions.
Although, not for the knowledge of many, there was just a tiny little exception in the shape of a certain magicless human.
Not even Jade himself could tell how this came to be. It was part of the charm, how you fascinated him so easily, without any extra effort on your part. There was something appealing in your sincerity and affection, things he was not that used to. You always managed to surprise him, making him fall deeper and deeper for you everytime you caught him off guard. His heart fluttered everytime you kept up toe to toe with him, be it in friendly banter or in deeper conversations.
There were not many people who could say they were able to see Jade showing his true emotions. You just happened to be one of them. When he was with you, his smile would reach his eyes and he'd show just a bit of his teeth, his voice would take a teasing tilt laced with barely concealed affection, his face would light up like the sun whenever you asked him to tell you more about a new mushroom he was tending to or about his newest mountain expedition.
It was the first time anyone made him feel like this. While Jade had no trouble holding his usual mask in place, his heart would race faster on his chest, his hands would get slightly clammy, he'd feel the urge to bite his lips or to play with his hair to release some of the pent up energy he felt around you. And he wanted more of your time, to be able to see you between his classes and work, to spend some time relaxing together or discovering new things.
Life at the deep sea was very different from life on land. Love at the deep sea was very different from love on land. Perhaps that's what made the whole experience so fascinating, after all. It was something he'd have never been able to have if he had stayed down there on the murky cold waters. He'd never been able to bask in these warm feelings, so new and unknown.
Jade thought he was doing a good job, overall. He didn't change much about how he acts normally, most people wouldn't notice a single thing was different. There were times he had the impression you did, like you could see right through his façade as if it was nothing, melting away his walls and looking straight at him, for who he is. It was frightening and exhilirating at the same time, to be seen. Jade didn't know what to make of it, as of yet.
Azul and Floyd seemed to disagree, though. At first, Floyd thought it was hilarious, how his usually serious brother could have something as innocent as a crush. He'd tease Jade constantly whenever they crossed paths with the prefect just to ruffle his feathers and get a rise out of him. Seeing the unbothered Jade glaring at him with a clearly annoyed look was so entertaining. Azul didn't care, as long as it didn't affect his work at the lounge, Jade could like whoever he wanted, though he was quite curious as to how the situation came to be.
And then Jade's feelings grew and it become obvious, to them, that it was a little more than a simple crush. By the way Jade acted around you, as it seemed like he glowed when you were near him, and how he talked about you, mentioning something you did or liked or that reminded him of you every once in a while in conversation. It was subtle, as most things involving Jade were, but enough for them to take notice. It was almost at the level of his mushrooms obsession, and that was saying something.
No one dared to make a move. Having Jade being infatuated with someone broke the careful balance of things in the trio, taking him out of his position as the cold and calculating Vice-Housewarden and putting him in a more complex label. Floyd and Azul always relied on him to fall back onto should things go wrong, trusting he'd make it alk work out as someone that was above everything. Taking such a pedestal out, Jade seemed much less like some higher being and much more... human.
Not that they didn't know he was capable of feelings, of course. They were aware Jade cared about them, otherwise he wouldn't have sticked around so long by their side. It was just surprising to see someone else entering the little bubble of people Jade cared about after such a long time with it being just the two of them there.
That's why they thought Jade should do something about his crush. It was almost painful to watch you dance around each other, every interaction filled to the brim with affection, stolen glances and flirty tones. Floyd wanted to just tell you about his brother's feelings and get it over with, but he knew that wasn't the best way to go about it, as Azul had drilled onto his head after he suggested they did that. Jade insisted he was fine with things staying as they were for the time being, still not done with observing and experimenting with both his and your reactions.
"Prefect, what a wonderful surprise. How may I be of service today?"
You laugh, recognizing the irony on his tone. You tried to visit Mostro Lounge as often as you could when Jade was on the clock, even if your wallet weeped at this. He was expecting you, as he always did.
"Oh, I don't know, I don't come around too often. What would you reccomend?" You tease back, playfulness dancing in both of your eyes. It's a game you're used to, the banter coming naturally to you.
"You really should, then." He winks, somehow managing to look suave while doing so and wiping a glass at the same time. "How about... a strawberry milkshake?"
You gasp dramatically, doing an exaggerated expression of surprise. "That's my favorite! How could you know? Maybe it was destiny I came here after all..."
That earns you a chuckle, making satisfaction swin in your stomach at warranting such a reaction. Jade's amusement is clear by the smile on his face and his scrunched up eyebrows. You can't help but smile back, warmth surrounding you as you take in the sound and commit it to memory.
"Perhaps it was. I'll bring you your drink in a minute."
You lean on the counter of the bar, watching him work gracefully. At the corner of your eye, you can see Floyd making some kind of annoyed expression. Jade pointedly ignores him, making flourish of adding the finishing touches on the milkshake, adding in a little umbrella on top of the whipped cream, near the strawberry hanging onto the glass.
"Here you go. I hope you enjoy it, prefect, I made it with the utmost care, after all."
He hands the drink to you, hands making contact just for a second longer than necessary, and slides a biodegradable straw to the cup's side. You insert it on the milkshake, drinking in and closing your eyes in delight. It tasted wonderful, as all of Jade's drinks did.
"I take it you do like it, from that reaction." He teases, leaning into where you're seated. There are other workers attending to the bar and the lounge isn't too crowded, so he can afford to keep conversation with you for some moments. You looked quite cute enjoying something so simple as if it was a five star meal.
"It's delicious! Here, have some." You spin the cup around, putting the straw right in front of him. Jade's eyes widen just the tinniest fraction as he looks taken aback by your proposal.
"Oh, it wouldn't do for me to drink something from a client. Azul would have my neck, you see."
You roll your eyes, knowing Azul didn't intimidate him at all. Plus, what Azul didn't see couldn't hurt him. "Then don't drink it as a Mostro worker, but as my friend."
His eyes bore into yours for a few seconds before his blank expression breaks into a smile, the lighest pink tint coloring his cheeks, almost imperceptible. "Well, if you insist, I suppose I'll humor you." He tucks his longer strand of hair behind his ear before leaning in, taking a sip from your straw and closing his eyes to mimick your earlier action. It was quite a sight. Your heart beat faster and your throat seemed dry all of sudden, making you swallow on air.
"You are right, as usual. It does taste delicious." He keeps his head inclined, lips almost touching the straw as he licks them, eyes looking at you through his lashes, voice low. You grip your tigh and bite your lower lip, hoping your face won't betray how warm it feels.
"Of course, it was made by the best. I'll have to show you that guy sometime, he's really good."
"I would be delighted to meet him."
He turns the milkshake back to you, still leaning in as his eyes sparkle with mischief. He seems as entertained by this game as you are. You put your hand on top of his, still at the bottom of the cup, and bring it closer, taking a sip while keeping eye contact. His smile softens at the corners and there's something fond on his expression. Your hand squeezes his before letting go. He opens his mouth to say something before he's called to attend another client.
His face falls and he looks disappointed to leave this little moment behind, almost as if he forgot he was still working. He apologizes for the interruption and you wave him off, saying how it was your fault for taking so much of his time anyway. The milkshake is still as good as it was once he leaves, but it feels like it's missing something.
By the corner of the bar, Azul and Floyd stand observing the interaction. Floyd wants to tear his hair out and Azul looks constipated. How long will they have to watch you two doing this? It's about time they staged an intervention, for both yours and their sake.
Things continue like normal for some time. You still visit him at the lounge, Azul and Floyd still suffer through your blatant flirting, Jade still observes things carefully.
And, as usual, Jade tends to his beloved mushrooms. He's gotten a new species on his latest mountain excursion, one with a pretty pink and wrinkled cap and white stem. It reminds him of your strawberry milkshake and he thinks you'd like to see them. He'd even give one to you in a carefully decorated terrarium if he was absolutely sure it wasn't poisonous. Oh well, just seeing them would have to suffice. Jade would make sure to keep them as pretty as possible.
They grew on a hardwood trunk, the soothing scent of camphor drifting through the wet air of the botanical garden. Under the canopy of dense trees, they looked even more peach in the midst of all the greenery. The wrinkles tickled his gloved fingers as he caressed the mushroom, treating it with care. The artificial river followed it's course nearby, providing with a lullaby of serenity. The scene felt comfortable, Jade felt content. He felt as much at home as he did under the sea.
Perhaps it was due to this mushy atmosphere that Jade felt compelled to talk about you. He's used to talking with his mushrooms, as he'd read that it helps them grow, but this time it felt different, like revealing a secret to a confidant. Almost like a confession.
"The prefect came to visit me at work today, once again. Even if the menu of the lounge takes a toll on their budget, they come almost every day. I don't see why they keep doing it."
The mushroom doesn't reply, as it is simply a fungi and it doesn't know how to talk.
"You are right, I do know why. They want to spend more time with me, just like I do with them. It is truly a shame I'm so busy we have to resort to meeting while I'm at work. I wish I could give them my full attention, without having to go serve other customers."
The river goes on, birds chirp outside, the wind rattles the foliage gently.
"The fact they keep going makes me... happy. I'm glad to see them there. I would even dare to say it is the highest point of the day. I look forward to it every shift."
Naturally, a gentle smile takes over his face. His eyes are soft as he keeps caressing the mushroom's cap.
"Azul and Floyd say I should confess soon. How out of character it would be for me to do so. I have considered it before, even, but... I'm not sure if I want to change our current relationship. It is comfortable. And I don't want to lose it."
Jade sighs, full with yearning. The next bit comes out as a whisper, almost as if he spoke a little louder it would become more real than it already is. He feels vulnerable admiting such a thing, as he's not one for sentimentalism, but it also feels... right.
"I really like the prefect. I would like to take them out on a date and give them my full attention. I would like to receive their affections and have their smile directed at me. I would like to hold and to kiss them. I would like to bask in ther warmth for as long as they would let me."
It feels ecstatic, like a weight being lifted off his chest. Now, if only he could tell this to the person who was meant to hear it.
Footsteps pop the bubble of quietness, startling Jade and making him get up from the ground, dusting of his pants and calming down his heart. He was unusually jumpy, as if the admission of his feelings out loud could have reached your ears.
"Jade, here you are!"
Talk about the devil and he shall appear. Although in this case, you were more like an angel, such an ethereal presence lightning up the path, quite literally as the sun shone past the leaves and created a halo on your head.
"Prefect. Were you looking for me?"
He's sure his voice was perfectly level, but something on his tone makes you pause and tilt your head at him, a contemplative look passing through your face fast as flash, gone as soon as he saw it. Jade feels like you saw through his act, but decided to not comment for his sake.
"Oh, there's something I want to give you!"
Your sing song voice breaks the tension on his shoulders. He remembers you mentioning being busy working on a surprise for him, though you wouldn't budge at any of his questions to expand more on what exactly this surprise was.
"Is it related to a certain surprise, perhaps?"
"You know me too well, Jade! C'mon, close your eyes and give me your hands."
He considers not doing so just to see your reaction, but the excitement dancing in your eyes was too endearing for him to disturb, so he complies.
"My, my, I wonder what could it be that you couldn't wait for my shift to give it to me."
"You'll see!"
You deposit something gently on his hands, a small and fragile thing by the feel of it. There are two of them, smooth with a pointy end and fitting on his palm. He opens his eyes, curious, while you stare expectantly.
On his open hand sits a pair of handmade mushroom earrings. They are blue dotted with white spots, a twist on the classic red to fit more with his color scheme. They had been lovingly coated with paint and varnish, wrapped with silver wire.
"There you go! Do you like it?"
Jade blinks. He can't stop looking at them, at every detail imbedded on the accessories, at the care you must have for them.
"Did you make it?"
"Yep! I saw it on magicam these days and thought of you, so I decided to try my hand at it. I get it if it's a bit wonky, that's the first time I do something like this."
"It is perfect."
He says it on a whisper, almost as if all the air on his lungs was used to push the words through the lump around his throat. His heart flutters and Jade feels the overwhelming urge to thank you over and over again. It's a simple gift, but the mere fact that you made it simply because you thought he might like it meant the world to him.
You seem mesmerized by his reaction. It is quite uncharacteristic of him to show so many emotions, but he needs to express his gratitude, he needs you to know how much he appreciates it.
"Thank you, prefect. They are truly wonderful." He pockets them carefully, making sure they won't be damaged. He can't meet your eyes. He's sure that if he does, you'll see straight through his heart, dissecate his chest and pull out all his ribs to discover the mushy feelings inside, growing like vines on his lungs. "Ah, I don't have anything to offer in return, I'm afraid."
"There's no need to give me anything back. I just did it because I wanted to make you happy, that's all there is to it."
"I... I see." Jade wasn't sure what to make of it. Your smile was sincere, your body language suggested you were entirely too comfortable, your tone of voice was it's usual melody. "You might want to be careful when making such heartfelt remarks like that, prefect. People might get the wrong idea."
His atempt at deflecting the topic was quite weak, not fooling you in the slightest. "Let them think whatever they want. I only said how I feel, after all."
And against facts there were no arguments, were there?
"I suppose you are right once more."
You only laugh, looking around the area for the first time since you arrived. You notice the mushroom quickly, it's peach color catching your attention and making you coo at it.
"Oh, it's so pretty! That's the new species you found, yes?"
You crouch near the trunk, observing the fungi. Your hair falls slightly over your eyes as you take in the sight. The sun still shines above, surrounding you and creating an illusion of dancing light specks around your figure. There was something magical on the scene itself. Jade was captivated, he couldn't look away.
"Jade, they're beautiful." You murmur, extending your hand to touch it lightly, a delighted smile spreading through your face at the tickle of the wrinkles.
"Yes, they are." Jade agrees. He's not looking at the mushrooms. There's something much more charming for him to see.
You turn to face him, unguarded wonder on your expression, as if Jade had shown you one of the most fascinating things you've ever seen. His ears are most likely as pink as the subject of your admiration. He mirrors your smile, adapting a softer version of it.
"Can you tell me more about it, please?"
Oh, what was Jade going to do with you? You were going to kill him with an arrhythmia at the rate things were going.
"Of course, it would be my pleasure to do so."
He crouches down by your side, your legs pressing against each other. His hand comes up adjust your hair behind your ear, fingers grazing your skin just a touch more than necessary. He starts with a low whisper, making you lean into him to hear. "You see, this is a rare species called Rhodotus Palmatus. It is quite unique, as there are no others that can compare to it. It is said to be the prettiest mushroom in the world, so imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon them on my latest excursion..."
You let him ramble on, making questions or comments to show your interest. Jade feels his chest blooming with pink azaleas, throughly charmed by you.
He ends up getting late for his shift at Mostro Lounge. Before Azul could berate him for it, you took responsability and said you were the one taking his time. Azul, strangely enough, decided to let it pass and just told him to get to work. Your milkshake that day had an extra strawberry and a pink flower decorating the cup.
After they closed up the lounge, Jade got Floyd to pierce his other ear. His brother looked at him with curiosity at the sudden request but obliged, not kicking much of a fuss.
The eelmer found himself on quite the embarrassing situation. He was alone on the bathroom, staring at his reflection on the mirror. On one ear, his usual sturgeon scales earring. On the other, a shiny new mushroom earring. He kept staring, feeling the sensation of the extra weight, how it'd shake alongside his head movements, how the blue was the perfect shade to match his hair.
Jade took it off, staring at it in his hands. It was so small. He thought about how much time you might have spent on the details, each white dot made with the utmost care. How you might have struggled to get the shape right, as noticible by the slight imperfections around the edges of the mushroom's cap. How, through it all, the thing motivating you was to see him smiling.
Such a sentimental thing innocently resting against his palm.
His other earring was taken out as well, the three of them put on a small box at the bathroom cabinet. Jade brushed his teeth on automatic. He went to the empty bedroom, Floyd nowhere in sight, and sat on his bed. There was some kind of restlesness shivering under his skin, his heartbeat didn't feel right, his face remained warm. He had to admit, you had quite the effect on him.
Jade Leech was not one for sentimentalism. Then why did a simple earring cause such a reaction on him?
He had to remain calm. It would not do to lose the firm grip he held on his emotions. His usual polite façade relied onto such control, on how Jade managed to keep a level head in all kinds of situations. If he broke that mask, what would become of his reputation? The cunning vice housewarden of Octavinelle, one known to be just as dangerous as his twin brother, acting all sappy with the magicless human, arguably the least threatning person in the entire campus.
Your words from earlier come to mind, sweet voice carrying like a whisper on the breeze. Let them think what they want. Either way, he had other means of making them talk, whether they thought of him as weak for showing his affection or not. It could even be advantageous, creating a more open image of him that might make them more willing to share their secrets.
Once he thinks of you, a calm look in your face as you feel at home in the middle of the foliage, listening attentively to every word he says, eyes shining with fondness, he can't be bothered about what others would think at all. He thinks of strawberry milkshake, a lazy afternoon at the lounge as you fill him in on the gossip of the freshmen. He thinks of a peach and a teal mushroom, the two making quite the pair together. He thinks of your concentrated expression as you ramble about your latest interest on a nightly walk. He thinks of your warm touch on his cold skin, never shying away from his sharp edges.
Jade sighs, closing his eyes. He wants to scream. These feelings of infatuation had long involved past a simple crush. No matter how much he denied, they wouldn't leave him alone anytime soon. You weren't leaving him alone anytime soon.
On an uncharacteristic manner, he threw himself on the bed, his face smushed against the pillow. There was no one around to judge this slip of posture and show of vulnerability. Just him and his thoughts of you. He felt the childish urge to kick his legs and trash around, something so like Floyd it almost made him laugh. He felt feverish, his chest ached with a yearning he couldn't describe. Pathetically, he wanted to be yours, he wanted you to be his, a feeling so overwhelming he didn't know what to make of it.
He had to get a grip.
He did kick his legs a little though. Simply to see what was so appealing about it.
Unbeknown to him, Floyd happened to open the silent door at that exact time. He took one look at his brother's state, remembered the handmade mushroom earring he was given as a gift and your cheery presence by his side once he arrived late to his shift, and decided to close the door again. He was so not in the mood to deal with this.
It was time him and Azul did something about it. If neither Jade nor you would give the first step, Floyd had the perfect plan to give you the little push you needed.
And so, the next day had the twins walking together at the hallways of Night Raven College, moving from one class to another. It was an uneventful scene, something that could be observed everyday. Still, there was something bothering Jade. He could feel something was different, somehow, but couldn't put his finger on what it was.
After he had a mini breakdown of drowning in his own feelings in the previous night, he felt more on edge. He was sure he looked immaculate on the outside before leaving his room, uniform ironed and buttoned up impecably, hair combed properly and the usual polite smile on face. It would do no good to look frazzled. The only difference was the teal mushroom earring hanging from his right ear.
Floyd was in one of his good moods, chirpy and with a skip on his step. He seemed to be looking for someone but kept himself at Jade's side, despite them having different classes that period.
Both twin's faces light up as soon as they see you coming out of a classroom, balancing books in your hands. Floyd's scream of "Shrimpy" is enough to clear the path to your direction and to catch your attention. You try to wave at them, almost making the books fall before you catch them just in time.
"There you are, Shrimpy!"
"Good morning, prefect."
"Ah, Jade, Floyd, hi! It's good to see you guys!"
Floyd ruffles your hair playfully, making it stick in every direction and letting out a laugh. Jade finds your answering pout endearing.
"Prefect, if you wouldn't mind?" Jade offers his free arms, letting you slide most of the books to him. It was a natural action, well praticed as Jade was used to helping you with little everyday chores. Even when you tried to deny giving him more work, he insisted it was his pleasure to help. Eventually you understood that was simply his way of showing affection and let him do as he wanted to, as long as he didn't overwork himself in the process.
"Thank you! C'mon, I have to take these to professor Trein before we have our next class with him at the end of the hallway."
The three of you walk together, even though the twin's classrooms weren't near yours. You appreciated the company, so it wasn't like you were about to complain. Floyd wraps an arm around your shoulders, leaning on you, as Jade looks on curiously, wondering what his brother could have come up with this time.
"Say, Shrimpy, are you free tomorrow?"
"Hmm... tomorrow is Saturday, right? Then I think that I've got some free time, yes."
"Great! You know who else is free tomorrow? Jade is! How about the two of you have a date, then?"
It's as if time paused, the three of you stopping in the middle of the halls. Both you and Jade stare incredulously at Floyd, not daring to make eye contact with each other. Jade feels his heart stopping for a second as well, followed by a feeling of annoyance. Oh, he'd have a few choice words for his dearest brother once they were alone.
"I didn't hear a no from either of you, so I'm taking it as confirmation. You'll have dinner together at Mostro Lounge! Don't be late or else Azul will raise the price of the bill, you know how he is." And with that, Floyd simply turns around and leaves you two stunned into silence, watching his retreating back.
Jade would have gone after him if he wasn't busy helping you carry your books. As it was, he was left to deal with the mess Floyd caused, as usual. He clears his throat, making you turn your attention to him. The confusion in your face would normally warm his heart, but this time he only feels dread.
"I'm sorry, prefect, I don't know where this came from. I will have a talk with Floyd for the inconvenience."
There's a pensive look on your face before you avert your eyes, words coming out in a low tone.
"Actually... I wouldn't mind going on a date with you tomorrow. If you want to, that is."
Jade feels his heart stop once more, for an entirely different reason from the last time. He should get it checked with how often it's been doing that.
"You... wouldn't?" His words are laced with tentative hope, so fragile.
"No. I'd love to, actually." Your cheeky smile blinds him like the sun and gives him the confirmation he needed. Wearing his confidence like a well worn glove, he puts on his best charming expression.
"In this case, allow me to ask you out properly. Prefect, would you like to go on a date with me tomorrow?"
You chuckle, mirth coloring your gaze as you bounce on your feet. "Why, yes Jade, I'd love that."
"Perfect. Then, I'll pick you up at your dorm for dinner. My treat."
"Oh, how charming. I'll be waiting for you!"
Before Jade can answer, the bell rings and you're reminded you do have a class to get to. You both scurry to your classroom at the end of the hallway, stealing glances between yourselves, a giddiness enveloping you. Jade arrives fashionably late for his own class with a smile on his face, teeth exposed and all. His classmates give him a wide berth, creeped out by whatever trouble that expression could bring. Jade doesn't mind, too busy thinking on what to put on the menu for your dinner to care about his classmates fearing for their lives.
Later on the day, he had quite a pleasant conversation with Floyd about the stunt he pulled. Floyd got to feel how his squeezing victims felt. He's sure it was eye opening for his brother.
Azul also got bombarded with an intricate menu request for the following day. He knew Floyd had to be involved with this somehow, but couldn't he had asked him beforehand about reserving the lounge for the night?
It was not until the next day that you saw Jade again. As promised, he was knocking politely on the door of Ramshackle by the time the clock hit six p.m.
He looks stunning. You had to take a moment to take him in fully. The smart suit fitting him perfectly, black social shoes and hair properly combed. On both his ears, blue mushrooms hanging contently. You could feel a faint scent of cologne, some earthy smell that was so much like him you couldn't help feeling endeared by it.
"Good evening, prefect. You look wonderful."
"Thank you. You're not that bad yourself." You wink, letting him in as you finish putting your shoes.
"Not that bad? My, my, you wound me. And after I took so much time getting ready to meet your standarts, too."
You chuckle, shaking your head, sincerity taking over your teasing tone. "Oh, Jade, you already met my standarts, no need to get all dolled up."
"You flatter me." He offers his hand for you to stand up.
"Maybe I do. Would you rather I stop?" You accept it, letting him pull you.
"No need, I'm quite content as it is." He brings your hands to his lips, grazing them so lightly you almost can't feel them. It sends shivers across your arm and heat to your cheeks. "I brought you a gift."
"Really?"
"Of course. Here, please allow me to put it on."
Jade shows you a necklace with a silver chain and a pretty peach colored shell. You brush your fingers on it, feeling the spiral pattern and it's roughness. It has a slightly salty smell, as if there was a piece of the sea itself imbedded on it.
"It's beautiful, Jade, thank you." The way you say it as if Jade had given you some priceless jewel makes satisfaction wash through him in waves.
You turn around, holding your hair out of the way for him to put it in place. His cold fingers brush against your sensitive neck, once again making shivers rise along your skin. His hands rest on your shoulders as he leans in, mouth so close to your ear you can feel every puff of hot air.
"It was the least I could do after receiving your enchanting gift."
He pulls away, leaving your neck feeling oddly bare despite the extra weight on it. You spin around to face him, holding the shell close to your heart.
"I told you there was no need to give me anything back!"
"Don't get it wrong, this isn't pay back, prefect. I merely did it because I wanted to make you happy, that's all there is to it." He looks quite smug throwing your words back at you.
"That's not fair, you know." You pout playfully, making a low chuckle leave his lips. "Oh, I got a gift for you too! Wait just a second!"
That picks his curiosity, as he wasn't expecting anything this time. It seemed that you truly took delight in giving him things. His chest felt warm at the thought.
You come back holding a bouquet of pink hydrangeas, the shade remembering him of the newest mushroom he had showed you. It's beautifully done, wrapped in a light blue paper and tied by a pink ribbon.
"My heartfelt emotions, to you." You make flourish when giving it to him, bending down in a bow.
His cheeks tint pink, matching the lovely shade of the flowers. He accepts them gracefully, thanking you. It's quite a sight, Jade fully buttoned up, the image of a perfect gentleman, carrying the flowers as if they were the most precious thing he owns.
"C'mon, let's get going before Azul charges us extra for the wait."
"Don't worry, he wouldn't dare to." There's a hint of pointy teeth in his smile, enough to imply the threat Azul'd be under should he try something.
You lead him out of the door, walking side by side to the mirror chamber. Neither of you are in a hurry, so you take your time to appreciate each other's company. It feels like only a second has passed by once you're in front of Octavinelle's entrance.
"Shall we enter, my dear? We can't have the food turning cold on us."
His free hand finds it's way around your lower back as he guides you through the mirror and to the lounge, navigating tables expertly. The whole establishment is empty besides the two of you, smooth jazz playing on the background and dim lights creating a cozy atmosphere. The fish pass you by on the water tanks, creating an entrancing dance, a blur of colors reflecting on the glass.
You take your seat on a table right in the middle, one more decorated than the others, a white cloth and a vase of flowers sitting on top of it. You can see the whole room from there, from the bar to Azul's VIP room's door.
Even with the formality of the situation, you find yourself comfortable in his familiar presence. Jade can talk with you for hours on end, each word capturing your attention wholly. As you wait for your order to come, you let the jazz rythm lull your conversation, playing with the shell on your necklace from time to time.
Many would say Jade Leech is a scary man. It's true, you think. The way he's entranced you is terrifyingly thrilling. At the same time, it isn't true at all, not to you at least. You know how dangerous he can be, you're not that naive, but you feel safe with him. How ironic that the sharp smile that makes so many shiver from fear is what warms your heart.
Floyd is the one to arrive with your order, making a show of spinning it before putting it on the table. You chuckle at his antics, watching him dance as he retreats to the kitchen.
"I hope it is up to your taste. I made sure there were only the best ingredients being used, handpicked by myself."
"It looks delicious! Not sure if I trust the handpicking part, tho. You're sure you didn't slip any poisonous mushroom on it?" You joke, taking a bite of the food. The taste disperses on your tongue and you hum contently, the warmth spreading to your body as you swallow. You take another bite, making amusement shine in Jade's eyes.
"Well, now that you mention it... you can still feel your tongue, yes?"
You almost choke in your laughter, coughing as he makes a worried face that doesn't fool you for a second. "Ugh, you're the worst. But this is so good I think it'd be worth the trip to the infirmary."
"I'm glad you like it so much, then."
"Yeah, the company isn't half bad either."
"I could say the same. You're rather delightful to have around. Much more so without being delirious from an unfortunate accident, so you don't have anything to worry about."
Your smile grows bigger at the compliment, mischief sparkling in your gaze as you wait for him to take a bite before answering. "Awn, you care about me? That's cute."
It's Jade's turn to splutter, although he does so in a much more dignified and contained way than you did. If it wasn't for the rising of his shoulders and the widening of his eyes, you wouldn't be able to tell he was fazed at all. Lucky for you, you took notice of his reactions as much as he did for yours. Before he can retort, there's an interruption in the shape of a certain Housewarden.
"Is everything going alright? How do you like the food?" Azul has a polite costumer smile plastered on his face, but his curiosity is obvious. You and Jade exchange a glance between yourselves.
"It's wonderful, as always."
"I see, I see." He pauses for a second too long, taking in the scene fully. Jade glares at him once they meet eyes. You stifle a giggle. "I wouldn't want to take more of your time. Please continue to enjoy your evening."
"We will." Jade replies curtly, eyes boring into Azul until he's out of view. He turns to you, composure back in place, which only makes you want to laugh more. You pretend you didn't notice it, taking another bite from your dish.
"You know..." You catch his attention, making him look inquisitively at you. "Your plate looks really good too. What is it?"
"Interested, are we? It's a mushroom risotto, made with mushrooms I collected on my mountain expeditions."
"Oh, I think I saw one similar to this on the cafeteria once!"
"Yes, the club contributes with foraging some of the ingredients used on the cafeteria's dishes."
"Woah, that's so cool. How come I didn't know this?"
"You didn't ask." His eyes wrinkle at the corner, clearly pleased with your praise to his beloved club.
"How was I supposed to ask this? It's way too specific!"
"Hm, I suppose it is."
You stick your tongue at him, knowing it's just like Jade to pull something like this. "As recompensation, I want a bite!"
"It does taste delicious." He takes another bite and chews slowly, eyes locked with yours the entire time.
"C'mon Jade! Please?" You bat your lashes at him playfully, although it seems to have some effect. He gets a good amount of it on his fork before lifting it to your lips. You take it eagerly, humming.
"Well?" There's a certain antecipation on his tone.
"You're right, it tastes as good as it looks. Which is saying a lot."
"If you would like, I can cook it for you on another occasion."
Your eyes widen, the sincerity on his voice taking you by surprise.
"For free?"
"Of course, I wouldn't charge you for it. It would be my pleasure, truly."
"Then I accept! We could cook it together at Ramshackle sometime next week."
"That would be perfect."
"It's a date then." You wink at him, patting yourself on the back for your smoothness.
"Enjoying this one so much you can't wait for another?" He answers with a smirk, tilting his head, his earrings tilting alongside it.
"How could I not enjoy it with such a charming gentleman across me?"
"You will make me blush if you keep saying things like this, prefect."
"That means it's working! You'll fall in love with me in no time."
You chuckle, but Jade's gaze only softens. His eyes look so tender it makes your breath catch on your throat. You can't look away from him, from the way his smile curves just right.
"Can I bring the dessert now?" Floyd asks, making both of you turn to him in surprise. He scratches the back of his neck and stand casually at the end of the table as if he hadn't sneaked his way to it.
"We haven't finished eating yet."
"So?"
The twins hold eye contact for a few seconds, surely having some conversation you stand clueless about.
"So. You can bring it later."
"Ah? But it's ready, shouldn't I bring it now? Shrimpy would like it fresh, right? You were the one that said that!"
Jade sighs at his brother stubborness. You stifle another giggle.
"Floyd, I don't mind eating it a bit after it was done. I'd prefer to finish the main dish first."
"Hm, if Shrimpy says so. I'll see ya in a bit."
"Now he listens..." Jade comments as you both watch him leaving. The frustation in his voice is a little funny, honestly. You sip on your drink.
It goes on like this. As your conversation with Jade follows it's usual course, Azul and Floyd interrupt constantly, always with a different excuse. You can see Jade getting fed up with their antics, but as much as you sympatize with him, you can't help but find the whole thing rather amusing.
Dessert consists of a mouth watering strawberry shortcake, the whipped cream melting in your tongue, the strawberries, coated in sugar, fresh and sweet, the cake fluffy. You make a different pleased sound at every bite, savoring it to the max. Jade seems fixated on your reactions, not paying nearly as much attention to his own slice as he's doing to you.
The jazz on the background takes a slower rhythm, as if accompanying the passage of the night. You feel at ease, smiling at Jade once you finish eating your slice. His intent gaze on you holding an unspoken weight, affection shining through. It makes your own feelings scream at you to do something, and that's what you do. It feels right to take his hand resting onto the table and interwine your fingers with his.
The touch of your hands sends eletricity through his skin, shocking his heart. Your eyes are littered with stars as you look at him, the colorful sea life reflecting on them beautifully. You look beautiful. The way his name falls from your lips, dripping as sweet as honey, makes him want to hear you say it again and again. He's addicted to your charm, letting himself drown on it.
Jade wants to confess his feelings to you at that moment, spill his mushy insides in your palms, transfer the warmth from his chest to your cheeks. He licks his lips, glancing at yours looking so inviting and soft, and opens his mouth to say it, to give you the key to his heart, to trust you and give himself to you fully, to be frighteningly open.
Before a single word can make it past his throat, there's a loud crash on the background that breaks the moment, making you jump and look around in alarm. Never in his life has Jade felt so frustrated, teeth digging through his bottom lip so hard he feels the coppery taste of blood.
There's a hiss of Floyd's name and a slurred complaint of Azul's. The two emerge from the bar, looking slightly frazzled.
"Are you two ok?" You ask, more curious than concerned.
"Perfectly. No need to worry about us." Azul smooths out his shirt, not really looking you in the eyes.
"Shrimpy, when are you gonna make a move?" Floyd pouts, arms crossed.
Jade's glare is a promise of pain in the future for the two that dared to interrupt him once more. How could Azul and Floyd be so irritating when they were supposed to be helping him? He makes to get up and have a talk with them in private, being at the limit of his patience, but you hold his hand closer to yourself, making him stay put.
"If you two leave us to have a private moment I'll do it."
His eyes widen at your boldness, no hint of a joke in your tone.
"Bet. C'mon Azul, let's leave the lovebirds alone." Floyd basically drags Azul away with him, finally leaving the two of you.
"Prefect..."
You don't let him continue, bringing his hand closer to your heart, to the shell necklace, and taking a deep breath before letting it all out, looking at him in the eyes the entire time. You feel a rush of energy run through your nerves, the moment you've been waiting for finally having arrived.
"Jade, I really like you. I enjoy every moment I spend by your side, even when you can't give me your full attention. I know I'm in your thoughts and you're in mine, too. I love to hear you talking about your interests and I feel safe when I'm with you. You have my trust and my affections. My heart beats faster because of you. These are my heartfelt emotions. I'd be really happy if you feel the same for me, my pearl."
You close your eyes, bringing his hand to your lips and kissing his knuckles, holding it tenderly. Your thumb press against his pulse point, relief flooding you at confirming it's as accelerated as your own. Your look at him through your lashes, seeing his face is coated in the pretty pink you love so much.
He calls you by your name, each letter molding perfectly to his lips, as if it was choosen to be said by him. "Do you have any idea of the effect you have on me?"
You smile gently, squeezing his hand and letting it go. "Hm, no, I don't think so. Please, elaborate on it."
Jade gets up from his seat, standing in front of you before kneeling down, taking your hand in a similar way you did with his.
"Jade, don't you think it's a bit early to ask for my hand in marriage?"
He chuckles, his face radiating so much fondness there's no doubt in your mind that he reciprocates. He takes your hand to cup his cheek while he speaks, nuzzling into it and looking up at you, making himself vulnerable, as close to a lovesick expression as you'd ever see on him.
"Dearest, I'm most devoted to you. There's not a day that passes by without you filling up my thoughts. You have carved your way into my heart in a way none were able to before. I want to give you anything you may wish for, as long as you'll give me the one thing I ask of you. Would you allow me the pleasure of belonging to you, just as you would belong to me?"
Your thumb brushes against his skin, passing through and pulling on his lips as your lidded eyes take them in. Jade lets you do as you please, a show of great trust from someone as guarded as him.
"Of course. I'd love to."
It's fascinating, the way a smile blooms on his face and his eyes light up, as if you had promised to give him the world. Perhaps you had, you just didn't know it. Your hand pulls him closer, making him get up and put his hands on your shoulders, leaning in, foreheads touching.
"I recall you saying something about wanting to hold me and kiss me, right? What are you waiting for?"
That makes him pause. "Wait. Were you listening to me on that day, at the botanical garden?"
"Maybe, maybe not, who knows." You sing song, the glint of amusement dancing in your eyes enough to answer him. He chuckles incredulously, wondering just how used to your presence he was to not have noticed you approaching him then.
"How secretive of you, prefect." He sounds proud as he says it. Maybe he's rubbing off on you after spending so much time together. "Very well. If that is what you wish for, I will do it." His thumb and forefinger hold onto your chin, tilting your head to meet his easier. "May I?" His low voice, laced with desire and yearning leaves you breathless before the kiss even has started. You whisper your consent, closing your eyes in antecipation.
Jade, the bastard, teases you by leaving a little kiss by the corner of your mouth before grazing his lips against yours in a feather like touch, making a needy noise leave your throat. You can feel his smile against your lips, his hot breath mixing with yours, his nose brushing against yours in a tender gesture before your lips finally meet with a firm yet gentle hold.
He tastes like strawberries. You let out a delighted groan, your hands coming up behind his head to play with his hair, pulling him even closer to you.
As he makes to pull away, you nibble on his lip, getting a surprising whine in response. It only fuels you, the sound reverbating through your head like a prayer. It sure felt like a holy experience, to get such a sound from him.
His face is flushed a pale pink and his hair is messy, lips red from kissing. It's the most beautiful sight you've ever seen. You're sure you don't look much better, but you can't bring yourself to care, the ecstasy pumping your blood and making your heart race.
Your cheeks hurt from how wide they're being spread by your smile, one so sincere you couldn't fight it even if you wanted to. You brush your nose against his, making a loving sigh escape his lips.
"...How do you like it?" For once in his life, Jade Leech let's himself be vulnerable, completly at your mercy. You feel powerful, at the top of the world having him in your palms like that, drinking up the sight. Although you know, he's got you just as good.
"Strawberries."
There's confusion on his voice as he repeats the word, taken aback by how suddenly you said it, how firm your tone was. You bury your face on his neck, whispering your answer against his skin.
"You taste like strawberries. My favorite."
"Oh. I see it was a good idea to have strawberries on our dessert." There's the usual satisfied tone on his voice by knowing his plan was a success.
"You planned this?" You laugh, knowing you should have expected it from him. There is a buzzing of contentment swallowing you whole, fondness swimming in your chest.
"Naturally. I wanted it to be a most joyous experience."
"Well, you succeded. You taste delicious." You lick your lips for extra effect, nuzzling your head on his neck and leaving a little bite. "Still do."
You can feel the shivers of his skin against your lips. You pull on his hair a bit and hear the yearning sigh he lets out. It's exhilirating. You pull away, coming face to face with his lovely infatuated expression, one reserved just for you.
"One more?"
"As you wish, my dear."
Your lips meet once more, the pressure of his against yours making you light headed. It's wonderful, he's wonderful. You could get used to this.
Unfortunately, the moment is broken by the loud cheers and polite clapping from the backgroung. Floyd whistles as Azul congratulates you two. Jade's hands' grip on your shoulders tightens and you can feel the annoyance from before coming back tenfold, his red and swollen lips not making his sadistic smile any less treathining.
"And just what do the two of you think you are doing? Haven't you interrupted enough?"
Your head falls back on his shoulder, not being able to hold your laughter anymore, your giggles against his ear making him soften the slightest bit, almost enough to forgive the two noisy merman. Almost.
He could deal with them later. Right now, he had much better things to do, as your breath tickling his neck reminds him.
Jade Leech is not one for sentimentalism... perhaps he could make an exception for you.

Hiori Yo x Reader Prompt: Introverted, slightly awkward reader, and a kind, friendly pretty boy. They surely wont develop a soft spot for him. A/N: Im gonna make a 2. to this. The concept is just too cute! <3 The 2 of them are defo gonna get teased tehe
_________________________
You were currently sitting in the dining hall, mindlessly eating your food. Though you were seated together with some of your friends, you didnt have the mental energy in you to talk at the current moment. So, you opted to peacefully eat your meal instead.
Thankfully, it was good. You definitely couldnt have taken one more reason.
Manshine City training had exhausted you, physically, mentally, maybe even psychologically.
Just kidding.
You always were a tad bit of a dramatic person. With over exaggerated complaints about anything and everything, to your mannerisms.
Though, you only showed that side of yourself to those you were comfortable with. Most of the time, you were pretty introverted. And a tad bit awkward.
Avoiding of eye contact, a blunt way of speaking, and a naturally intimidating face to top it all off. It was no surprise you wwre dubbed ‘the ice ruler’. Though, you found it amusing.
And so did your friends. The few youd made, seemed to enjoy teasing you about your unintentionally ‘icy’ demeanor.
Back in the present, you sighed as you were brought out of your train of thought. Again.
Whatever Bachira was talking about, it certainly wasnt normal, that was for sure. Something about kangaroos having three vaginas? You could only deadpan at the boy.
Suddenly, a flash of blue appeared a distance away. A boy, whom youd never seen before, was walking into the dining hall.
Oh god.
His soft, cyan hair had made him stand out to you, for sure. But his face..
You were annoyed at the fact that you felt your heart pick up pace slightly, ears tinging the smallest bit. ‘The hell’s wrong with me..’ you mentally scolded yourself.
Isagi, being the naturally observant person he was, glanced at your tinged face. ‘Y/n, you alright?’ He asked curiously.
At the question directed towards you, the other three turned their heads to look at you curiously too, wondering what Isagi was talking about.
You peered back in the direction behind Bachiras head, where youd spotted him. You sighed under your breath when you noticed he was no longer there. And yet, beneath that relief..
Why was there dissapointment?
You scoffed at yourself, before waving Isagi off casually.
‘Im fine, dont worry.’
You picked up your food tray, nodding at the rest in acknowledgment as you walked back to your dorm for the night.
‘How weird..’
_________________________
A few days of more torturous training, (not to mention the fact that part of your mind kept going back to him), and youd finally gotten some free time.
Put in a good mood, you strolled to the screening room with a slight pip in your step.
You were hoping to rewatch some of the matches, specifically the ones youd played in. Just to see if there were any areas you could improve on.
Oh who were you kidding. The real reason you were going to rewatch the matches? Because it was entertaining, duh. The fact that you could observe your own playstyle and improve was just a bonus.
Walking in through the door, you werent surprised when you spotted Isagi, giving him a nod of acknowledgment.
What did surprise you however, was when you saw the same cyan haired boy from a few days prior.
His bright eyes were the same shade as his hair, and you felt the heat rush to your face at the sight of his small, but soft smile.
The boy gave off a kind, and friendly vibe. Funny, considering it was the complete opposite of yours.
Isagi spoke with a smile, gesturing to the boy beside him. ‘Ah, y/n! I assume you havent met Hiori yet?’
‘Hiori, huh? What a cute name.’ You thought, before you mentally slapped yourself.
Hiori continued to smile gently, blinding you with his charm. You mentally felt like a vampire being dramatically burned from the sun.
‘No, we havent.’ Hiori shook his head.
The boy stood up, before walking closer over to you. The distance between you both was nothing to speciap, and yet, as he stood directly infront of you, you tried your best to calm the butterflies in your stomach.
With a hand outstretched, Hiori spoke gently. ‘M’ Hiori Yo, nice to meet you.’
You look at him for a moment, before breaking a small smile of your own. You shook his hand in return, relishing in how soft his hands were for someone who played such a rough sport.
‘Y/n l/n, nice to meet you too.’ You spoke, an almost unidentifiable softness on your face. Almost. But not for Isagi Yoichi.
As he watched the two of you greet each other, each with soft smiles and already comfortable demeanors, he couldnt help the knowing, shit-eating grin creeping its way onto his face.
In all the time he’d spent with you as a teammate and friend, he was sure he had never seen that expression on your face. One that wasnt akin to your usual introverted, and sometimes sarcastic demeanor. Were you really not aware of the fact you were softening around the other boy?
Hiori even seemed more comfortable with you. More so than the typical friendliness he treated everyone with.
As the two of you conversed, Isagi noticed the small smile on your face. Oh, he was for sure going to tease you about this whole situation. Even if you werent aware of it.
As you got up, waving goodbye to the two and walking back to your dorm, Isagi looked ahead with a knowing smirk on his face as he chuckled to himself.
Hiori glanced to the boy, curious, and slightly confused. ‘What is it?’
Isagi shook his head, continuing to scheme. ‘Nothing, really.’
‘Nothing at all..’

Some more 8th house placements observation:
Tumblr media
I am running the antardasha of my 8th house ruler since June & have learned a lot of revelations about people around me. Interacting with people, seeing their real faces, seeing the shock and revelations, I was able to see my own shadow too. Sharing some of my shadow work, mistakes and revelations:
🌸 Trust me when I say this, I am Gemini moon, I was the typical funny, entertainer, chatty, comical, animated personality. But my life circumstances were such that I have become dark and introverted. I have learned to live with the injustice and unfairness. I don't seek revenge even. I am numb and indifferent.
🌸 If you are around a known toxic person, do not assume that you are an exception. You are not special to them. They will just treat you like everybody else when the time comes. No exceptions. You're just in their good books until they find someone better to manipulate.
🌸 Goddamn people lie. I am craving to meet a single honest person. People lie so damn much. They lie confidently, with eye contact and even call you a liar even if you have evidence for your truth. They lie about themselves to make themselves look good. No shame, no remorse, nothing at all.
🌸 I had a narcissistic shadow. I was selfish, entitled, victim mindset, attention hungry, entitled but it was covert and hidden due to my low self confidence. I was a low functional narcissist. When I saw bad traits in others then I started fixing myself too. I attracted toxic people because I was a toxic person inside and unknown to me.
🌸 Studying astrology, psychology, archetypes, spirituality has helped me a lot in mental development. But I still meet people who treat me bad even though I treat them good. The difference is that now I have a strong character & do not take things to heart. There is a "myth of normal and healthy". I don't think that human communities can ever be healthy like a utopia.
🌸 The world runs on a pattern. In astro community, I have learned that no matter if you are born in America or Japan or third world, your life theme runs on a similar pattern depending upon your birth chart, placements, etc. There are different models of occult in different countries but all people in the world have a birth chart & they do have similar life themes. Call it genetic model or birth chart, but humans are not different from each other.
🌸 I don't know what happens in afterlife. I do know that whatever we do have consequences. This is karma. Consequences are carried into next lives. They are also inherited by next generations. People can be short sighted and think that their actions will die with them. They don't know that 3 generations later, their great grand child will suffer from cancer because they committed such and such actions stupidly and selfishly.
🌸 Nature is indifferent to pleasure and pain. Sensory pleasure is not happiness either. Happiness is something else.
🌸 I don't know if nirvana or moksha or liberation are possible. I sure do not want to come back to earth again.
🌸 Fire sign placements can be really egoistic, super liars, arrogant bullies. They need to mature the most because their hypocrisy and self centeredness is appalling. The world is not their toy. People are not toys.
🌸 8th house is all about sudden and unpredictable twists in life. One day is peace, next day medical emergency, 3rd day sudden expenses, 4th day betrayal by family member, 5th day sudden loss of money, 6th day encounter with a manipulative person, 7th day sudden money gain, 8th day peace, 9th day again problem. Same happens yearly. Every year is a challenge for them. 8th house placements are hell of a ride.
🌸 Beware of energy suckers. Predatory people love victimhood. I have dealt with victim mindset, feeling sorry for myself, equating sympathy and pity with love for so long. I kept going from one predator to the other. I keep my expectations low while recovering. If someone does something for me it is a pleasant surprise but I did not expect that.
🌸 Finally, life is complicated. Shadow self is a funny thing. I hate traits in others but I have them within me. Hate them or hate myself? Self introspection is a constant journey.

Here's a possible trope idea: stuck together (interpret how you'd like 😙)
Sending good vibes so that writer's block goes away !!
hey anon sorry this is so late but here it is!! thank you sm for the prompt, i went with jeysami! hope you enjoy :)
this takes place after survivor series: wargames '22!
“Oh, come on,” groaned Sami, almost going to honk his horn before seeming to think better of it. He put a frustrated hand through his hair. “This city is cursed, uce.”
Jey was already watching him from the passenger seat. “Probably an accident or somethin',” he said.
Sami sighed. “Yeah, yeah, you're right. I shouldn't be so self-absorbed.”
That— that wasn't actually what Jey had said. It made Jey's mouth involuntarily tilt up on one side. Sami, and his terribly genuine brand of... goodness. Jey was endlessly entertained.
“It's just—” Sami cut himself off. Jey raised his eyebrows. Sami glanced at him, grinned a little sheepishly. “It's weird, right? How it all is now?”
Jey knew what he meant. “What you mean, uce?” He liked to hear Sami talk.
“I mean.” Sami's hands began to gain energy, as animated as they always became when he was on a rant, and Jey turned to take in his fill more completely. “I mean, three months ago, I wasn't sure Roman took me even remotely serious. For sure, I didn't think that you... That you would ever warm up to me.”
Jey huffed. “Yeah.”
“And when Roman stuck us together— remember that?— when he wanted us to get along better?“ Sami laughed, sounding almost breathless. “Every time we were alone together, I was thinking, 'This is it. He's gonna kill me.'”
“Same, man,” said Jey, and Sami laughed some more. Jey's chest pleasantly warmed.
Sami looked at the cars around them. “And now we're here, stuck together just because you wanted to.”
Jey's face unpleasantly warmed. “Hey, I was just trying to finish my sets,” he defended. “You didn't have to stick around, you could've gone ahead with Jimmy and Solo.” In all honesty, Jey knew Sami would insist staying at the hotel with him. Their friendship was fresh and new and he'd been eager to hang out with a Jey that wasn't always glaring at him. “And you didn't have to drive.”
Sami waved him off, a grin on his face as he continued looking ahead, as if they weren't frozen in traffic. “Yeah, yeah,” his tone was teasing, “anyways, my point is that it's kinda weird how it all is now.”
Jey turned to look ahead, too. His cheeks felt warm. He fidgeted with the dashboard. “Good weird, though, right?”
A beat. “Definitely good weird,” Sami answered.
When Jey looked over, Sami was already looking. There was a smile still on his lips, but it was almost hesitant. He was blushing. Jey looked away.
They got quiet after that, then— not a bad silence, but a comfortable one. Jey, despite himself, had always felt comfortable around Sami — he just tried to suppress that comfort as well as he could with the distrust that his mind kept telling his heart that he should be feeling.
Truth was that nowadays, Sami was really the only person Jey ever felt completely comfortable with aside from Jimmy.
As that realization began to completely dawn on Jey, heat creeping back into his cheeks, he could feel a responding change in the silence of the car. Still not bad but— not exactly comfortable anymore. Charged.
He was just going to open his mouth, desperate to bring back normality, when Sami was opening his: “Jey?”
His tone sounded off. Sami was always so expressive, emotion always played out across his face and his voice and his posture but Jey didn't know this one, was still trying to figure them all out.
Jey swallowed. “Hm?”
Sami's fingers began tapping a beat into the steering wheel. “I,” he cut himself off again. He wet his lips, and Jey tracked the movement, eyes snapping back up right after. Sami's cheeks were still red. “I was wondering if you wanted to get food after the show.”
Something in Jey's chest was pounding like a drum. “Always do, don't we?”
“No, like—” Sami glanced at him, expression painfully sincere. “Like a date.”
Jey could hardly breathe. “A date?“
Sami didn't look like he was breathing, either. “A date.”
“For real?”
“For real.”
“With me?”
“With you.”
“Sami,” Jey said.
“Shit,” said Sami. “I should not have done this. I should not be doing this, especially alone in a practically parked car with you, damn it—”
“Sami,” he tried.
“Jey, I'm sorry about this, ignore it all, forget I even asked, I really didnt mean to put you in an uncomfortable—”
“Sami,” Jey insisted, and Sami finally shut up, wincing.
“Yeah?” he asked weakly.
Jey's heart was still pounding. “Yeah.”
“Yeah, that's what I thought, I'm so sorry about this, Jey, if you don't want me to—”
“Sami,” Jey repeated, exasperated. “Yeah.”
Sami finally looked at him, full on. He blinked. “...Yeah?”
Jey felt a grin spread across his face. “Yeah.”
A honk interrupted them. The cars ahead of them had started up again, moving forward. Sami broke their frozen eye contact to follow, his driving jerky.
“Yeah,” he eventually said, breathlessly. “Okay. I mean— Awesome. Cool. Totally.” He laughed softly, brushing a quick hand through his hair. “Awesome.”
Jey finally looked away, too, but he knew a ridiculous grin was still plastered all over his face. “Awesome.”

Gangnam Style (Chapter Five)
Tumblr media
I rested my chin in my palm and blew out a bored breath. I've been to award show after award show, and they're all the same. I'll admit, they are entertaining, but i guess i'm really not feeling it tonight. Still, the Metro opera house is a majestic place, and it's big enough to get lost in. The Spears girl they put me next to seems nice enough. She kept looking at me from the corner of her eye, like she really wanted to say something, but was too scared. She seems awfully fragile, for someone so talented.
"Ease up on her. you were like that once, too." I reminded myself, inwardly.
I can't help but feel a little nervous as Chris Rock begins his little comedy spiel. Don't get me wrong, i think he's hilarious, but the joke isn't as funny when your the butt of it. I twirled a sharp fingernail through my hair, and just prayed he wasn't going to make a big deal about my new image.
I got no such luck.
Chris puts a hand on his hip, and uses the other hand to rub his chin, like he was thinking.
"And what's going on with that Jamie girl? She is so damn angry now! i don't know what the hell happened, but i'm scared sh**less! Somebody's gotta get her a snickers bar or something..."
I didn't give him the satisfaction of anything beyond an eyeroll. In his defense, the joke is actually pretty funny, but i had to keep up appearances. I couldn't have my "tough girl" image cracking before it was even fully formed. My new manager, Kristen shoots him a sharp glare as the audience cackles in at my expense.
"Ignore him. He's just looking for a cheap applause line."
"I wouldn't call clapping from the biggest stars in Hollywood a cheap applause line."
Kristen gives me some side-eye for my snappy attitude, but i pretend i don't see it.
There we're some pretty entertaining performances, but i was a little preoccupied, since i'd be the second to last person performing.
In fact, i was so preoccupied, i barely noticed when they said i had one Best female video. Kristen had to elbow me in the ribs to get my attention.
"Your up." She hissed. I could tell she was more than a little impatient with me, but i could hear the pride in her voice as i stood up to collect my moonman.
I walk up to accept my award, and i hope i don't look like i'm shaking as i take from the hands of the presenter. I wasn't e really expecting to win anything beyond nominations, so i haven't practiced a thing. My English has gotten a lot better, though, so this probably won't be a total disaster.
"It's nice to be back everyone!" I say. The audience cheers, to my surprise. "I know i disappeared for a few years, but i'm so thankful for the support i've gotten from every single one of you. I'm sorry that i felt i had to leave all those years ago, but i promise you, no one will ever make me do something i don't choose to you. To all of my fans: thank you. For everything. Never let anyone stop you from doing what you love."
I hold my moonman in the air victoriously. The audience roars, and i let myself smile. I walked down to my seat and Kristen squeezes my arm with a rare smile.
"Do you have any idea how proud i am of you?" She asked earnestly
I smile and squeeze her arm too. I couldn't be prouder of everything we've accomplished.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I pace back and forth backstage. My backup dancers looked at me curiously, but i didn't care. I'm way too nervous to sit still. Everything has to perfect.
We would be performing "Breakin Dishes" that night. I would've liked to do something a little less high energy, like Nightmare or Gasoline, but Kristen said an uptempo track like Breakin' Dishes would be get the crowd excited, and in turn, help my career to flourish again. Buzzkill. I nervously take a large swig from my flask. Probably not smart to get trashed before a performance, but i say there's nothing wrong with a little liquid courage.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The stage is set up a bit like a prison cell. My dancers and i stand with our hands clutching the bars, until the spot lights turn on. We wear striped prison uniforms, like the ones from the american western movies. I'd been performing a lot recently, but this was the Vma's we were talking about. The Spotlight's turned on, and the audience cheered.
Here goes nothing...
Breakin Dishes starts to play, and we confidently strut in front of the bars. I pray i'm not shaking as i face the crowd with a hand on my cocked hip.
Ow-ow (ow-ow) Ow-ow (ow-ow) Ow-ow (ow-ow-ow) I don't know who you think I am I don't know who you think I am I don't know who you think I am I don't know who you think I am (Am, am, am, am, am, am, am, am, ow)
He been gone (gone) since 3:30 (3:30) Been coming home lately at 3:30 (3:30) I'm super cool, I've been a fool But now I'm hot, and baby, you gon' get it Now I ain't trippin', ah, I ain't twisted, ah I ain't demented, ha, well, just a lil' bit (ha) I'm kickin' asses, I'm taking names I'm on flame, don't come home, babe!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm breakin' dishes up in here, all night (uh-huh) I ain't gon' stop until I see police lights (uh-huh) I'ma fight a man tonight, I'ma fight a man tonight I'ma fight a man, a man, a man A man, a man, a man Fight a man, a man, a man A man, a man, a man, oh
Breakin', breakin', breakin', breakin' (dishes, dishes, dishes) Breakin', breakin', breakin', breakin' (dishes, dishes, dishes) Breakin', breakin', breakin', breakin' (dishes, dishes, dishes) Breakin', breakin', breakin', breakin' (dishes, dishes, dishes)
The song ends, and we all smash plates onto the ground. The audience shrieks in delight. I wipe sweat from my forehead with a tired smile. We head backstage, and i see the white guy tracking me with his eyes as i go to my dressing room. I totally ignore him. Cute or not, no one can distract me from this right now.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm on my way out. Not quite running, since that's not really possible in heels. I've one two moonmen tonight: One for Best Female Video, and another for Best Cinematography, which are safely tucked in my purse. I have no other reason to be here.
I had no plans on stopping for small talk, and then i feel a little tap on my shoulder. I turn to face what i thought would be a pestering fan. To my shock, it's the Spears girl, smiling shyly at me. I lift my chin slightly, like a queen speaking to a peasant.
That seems to make her more nervous, but she doesn't back down.
"Hi Jamie. I just wanted to say that i'm a huge fan of your work... and that i'm really glad to see you back. You've always inspired me. Now, more than ever."
I"m totally floored by her words. I have to at least say thank you.
"Thank you. I appreciate that. You have real talent yourself. You deserve to be a star."
Spears seems equally floored by my compliment. She smiles and gives me a quick side hug, which i reluctantly return.
"You have no idea how much it means to hear that from you."
After saying this, she goes of to greet NSYNC and her little boyfriend, Justin Timberlake.
I think she could do better, but it's really none of my business.
I'm ready to leave, so start back in the direction i started in. Hopefully i can avoid that Vanilla Ice wannabe i met earlier, if i hurry. No sooner do i begin heading off, do i hear a voice in my ear.
"You Tryna ditch me, Jamie?"
Sh*t.

Lacquered nails shifted over the piece that hung from the choker at her neck. Another evening, another meeting but one that had not been on the agenda. A white-haired woman had stood before her only hours ago expressing that she had been summoned to an unknown location, and unknown manor by an unknown person.
Weeks prior and levied some sense of anxiety in her due to her more recent outting from Ul’dah to Thavnair – however, Vahalia was stubborn and if anything, extremely curious. Not many people sought out an audience with her unless it meant business. Most other chatter happened in the wings at hosted events and soirees, big and small. Women kept in houses and overworked through traditional roles merely gibbering about gossip involving her; rarely did any approach her. Only men with bolstered audacity.
Honey pools of spite regarded the room she had been brought to, a silver of reverence pitted itself in her core as she silently took note of the decor and the dimly lit parts of the manor – much like her own.
The crackling of the fireplace in the large room joined with the metronome ticking of a large grandfather clock, the quiet symphony only overshadowed by a quiet violin playing through the horn of an elegant gramophone sitting on a nearby table. It was a macabre somber tune, though beautiful all the same and it captured Vahalia’s attention for some time. “The Lady will be with you momentarily, Ma’am.” Offered the young woman, a voice of nearly a child though her features told the story of her mature age. She curtsied and quietly exited the room, the sound of the door closing behind her confirming her retreat.
The woman swathed in black lace and green and waltzed to the metronome with uninvited intent, touching upon something that wasn’t hers, fingertip coming up to cease the motion of the sway if only to disrupt the constant. After a few seconds, she released her hold and tipped the needle to watch the piece resume its count.
Mere moments would pass after the handmaiden took her leave when the click of the door opening called for Vahalia’s attention as Cordelia passed through the threshold to enter the room. She was a vision of morbidity and darkness and yet still somehow shone upon her entrance. A way of carrying herself, perhaps, feeling a bit drunk with the freedom to command a room now that her place no longer remained behind a man. “Lady Cress, I was pleased to be informed of your acceptance to my invitation. I must admit I have not had the enjoyment of entertaining company of my own for quite some time so I do hope the accommodations are to your liking.” A hand swept out around her, gesturing to the large yet cozy sitting room. The walls lined with dark portraits of unnamed men and women, preserved insects of the most beautiful kind, hues of mauve and silver accented the linens and curtains.
The witch-woman turned a little more, curiously. The decor was something she had a few moments to take in but she certainly wasn’t expecting Cordelia to look the way she did – somehow she envisioned a blonde woman, blue eyes and slathered in crimson silk; a color to catch just about any eye. What a pleasant surprise this was.
“Lady Gray.” she pointedly addressed though respectfully, “I cannot say I know more than your name and now where your abode resides. I must have walked by here several times in my travels. Never once recognizing it as the Gray household – nor you.” Vahalia genuinely smiled.
The two women complimented one another in a way that was unexpected, the atmosphere and energy around them feeling of the same nature in some sense. Cordelia had already begun crossing the room toward the seating area and gesturing for Vahalia to follow when she replied with a huffing chuckle. “That is life when you marry into a suffocating family that prefers to keep to themselves. I do not fault you for not knowing much of me, I personally only just learned of you and yours, myself.” Finding a comfortable seat, she smiled to Vahalia though it was not of the typical nature in which one would smile, there was a veil of mystery around it but it was kind enough. “Surely I am not taking up too much of your attention away from far pressing matters?”
“Not at all. I’m thankful you’ve summoned me, it means I spend less time sorting the pockets of men or playing guessing games with their emotions. Seems you’re a bit of a savior.” Vahalia found some measure of comfort in the seat across from Cordelia, a hand gracefully tucking her dress just behind her calf, “To hear of your hiding is a disappointment. I imagine running into you at one of the soirees would have been welcoming – atleast I’d suspect a rather curious and interesting person to run into.” her hand lifted to indicate, “-- your decor and such.” honey hues remained pinned to the hostess.
Her grin met her eyes as she glanced around the room, proud of her choices in every manner of decoration. “Mm, I would not be disappointed…I may have been hidden but I was simply lying in wait.” The words were dripping with enthusiasm in the way that she might have been filled with venom and prepared to strike, though it wasn’t menacing toward her guest but rather her would be ‘prison guards’. “While the place was never bright and colorful before my husband’s death, I certainly have seen to it being what it has become since then even further. Most would find it drab and morbid… it is refreshing to find another who enjoys it.”
A casual tilt was afforded to Vahalia’s body, adjusting in the seat to find purchase along one of the armrests, placing weight on forearm, “I grew up in a house that had pretty dim candles. My mother….she was a sickly lady for the last few years of her life up to her death. It all grew on me I suppose. I’ve always found there to be more comfortable in the darkest recesses and shadows.” a ruby smirk flashed across to the Lady of the House, “Tell me Cordelia, do you enjoy reading?”
There was a slight twitch in her eyes, the lids narrowing just a bit as she listened to the explanation the other woman gave in her decorating preferences and why. “Hm… interesting as it was from my mother where I inherited my designing eye. Of course, not in the same fashion - which, I am sorry to hear of your mother’s final days- but she was a bit dark and macabre in her own right.” Dark brows perked at the closing question, her head tilting ever so slightly. “I do, but not of fantasy and adventure. More of… knowledge. And you?”
"Avid reader of much of the same. Research, tomes, languages and more. Folklore is all well and good when there is an element of truth in there somewhere." Honey-pools glinted, "I think I have a copy of a book you might enjoy. Well, a tome of sorts. My sister squandered her chance to learn from it and has taken to dallying in the kitchens rather than broadening her mind."
This piqued Cordelia’s interest pretty quickly, a brow raising curiously. She was somewhat surprised that Vahalia was seemingly comfortable with her right away, then again, something told Cordelia that the two were going to get along fairly well, also. “Color me intrigued…I was never one to fully commit to being stuck doing wifely duties, despite playing the part for most of my life. Tell me about this tome and its contents?”
“You and I both.” Vahalia mused outwardly. Casually her nail tapped along the end of the armrest and she hummed across to her hostess, “It’s a little taboo. Can’t say I’ve read too much into it myself. My sister had shown little interest in wanting to learn anything within. It's a tome I picked up after making a deal with a…Thaumaturge.” Vahalia gently lied, eyes cutting sharply to the Lady Gray.
“A Thaumaturge, you say?” Cordelia regarded in question, her tongue slowly running over her lips just slightly simply as a habit when she concentrated. Grey eyes washed over Vahalia in thought before she continued further with a smirk and a bit of a darkened playfulness to her tone. “And considering you are the one offering its contents to be available to me I have no qualms in expressing that I’ve never shied away from the taboo. It is a shame that your sister has turned from it, though, I’d imagine it would be enjoyable to have kept it within the family. Pardon for having done some digging, but I hear she is to be married soon, yes?”
A nod confirmed it, “She is and not too much longer now, before winter’s end. One step forward in making some steps to broaden some horizons. She was much more suited for that role than I could ever be anyways; though it will be an eventuality I have no intention on letting someone else handle the household for me..” Vahalia turned her wrist, hand ceasing to indicate as she spoke. A hum loosed and she regarded Cordelia intensely, “And you, condolences are in order. How long has it been?”
As Vahalia spoke, the other woman leaned her elbow to the left armrest of her chair, hands clasping together and resting just at her lips height. Cordelia had never much interest in marrying off either but it seemed that they both understood that sometimes sacrifices must be made in order to attain the favorable end result, and with no intentions on remaining in the marriage her parents had arranged for her, a few years as arm candy to the vile man was worth the position she was now in. With that, she gave Vahalia a knowing look, lips just faintly in a smirk as her brows flicked upward quickly in a sharp motion. “A little over a week… and between you and I, I’d much prefer congratulations.”
“Ah, freedom once again then. Congratulations indeed. Be it far from me to judge, I typically prefer my freedom as well so I try not to take advantage of it or for granted.” she tapped the underside of her bottom lip twice, Vahalia reading the air between them as it was presented, “Do you have goals going forward?”
There was a gentle shrug as she lowered her hands to now simply rest in her lap. “Mm, continue to solidify this House as mine. There are a few more things that need to be taken care of to do so and hope perhaps you might aid in being a part of that. I have heard that you’ve recently come to establish a new tradeship. While my late husband had his connections, I would prefer to begin making my own and seeking to further extend our reach beyond Ishgard more than he had.” “Fair. You would also be correct.” Vahalia tipped her head and loosed another hum, thinking on the weight of their conversation further, “I have a ship, The Sirensong. It is seafaring so I can completely negate the need for ceruleum. The slower option of course when it comes to transport but much more cost-effective. Eventually, I hope to purchase another to get a small trade company underway. People can pay me to bring their goods all over without so much as lifting a finger – the middle man, essentially. Given that I work with a company already situated to assist in that as well, its a bit of a win/win.” Vahalia’s tongue passed over her lips and rested to the corner of her mouth before speaking again, “Are you interested in having a hand in the transport part of trade or having something transported?”
Cordelia allowed a few simple nods as she listened to Vahalia. She knew that the company mentioned was the Ashen Wolves thanks to Wren having gathered the details on her prior, though she felt no need to let on that she knew. “Mm, currently I am looking at having goods transported. Our lines of finance come through textiles and jewels or jewelry, though I am in the works of procuring even more freedom with the Gray coffers than what I have been allowed and once that is handled, then I am planning to extend my reach to other ventures and see that it goes within and beyond Ishgard.”
"I see. Coffers can be tricky business, I work as an accountant for a company. What is more I think jewelry and textiles is good trade. Best to extend to places that have the least competitive outreach. Thavnair for example would be a little harder to compare your good to theirs but I suspect jewelry and textiles here in Ishgard is another matter or even in Ul'dah. Plenty to consider, of course." Vahalia smirked gently.
“Yes well, none of it will matter until I have a situation handled which is being taken care of presently.” Cordelia paused as she mulled over a further explanation of her situation. Her foot bounced just slightly as the one leg rested over the other. “Quite frankly he had everything set up to see that I was anything but free if he should…have an accident. But as I said, it’s being taken care of. Once it is, perhaps we can discuss this further and if there are opportunities for building a working relationship.”
“I think I would enjoy that quite a bit.” Vahalia smirked across to Cordelia and offered a firm nod, “I’m sure I’ll have more interesting information to share with you at that time and given how you’ve found me I’m sure you needn’t direction on how to contact me should you feel you need to.”
A dim chiming chuckle escaped Cordelia as she shrugged lightly. “What can I say, My girl does her job well.” She waved a hand toward Vahalia with a smile. “I wouldn’t want to keep you from the more pressing matters I’m sure you have to tend to…Despite that no doubt my company is likely much more entertaining. Though…feel free to come by at any time.”
The company rose, smoothing out parts of her attire, “No rest for the wicked, they say. Make good choices, dear.” Vahalia practically purred and she made for the door pausing briefly to continue, “Oh and Cordelia? Light your candles.” she left her hostess with only to open the door to the sitting area herself, the Lady Cress seeing herself out as it was something she didn’t seem too bothered by. If caught, the Lady Gray might have spotted a small wink sent her way during the departure.
Still sitting, Cordelia simply grinned to herself at her guest’s departure. She watched as Vahalia left before she turned to settle back in her chair to gaze into the fireplace allowing that grin to linger a moment. A voice inside told her this was the simple beginning to something deeper, something great.

Whumpcember2022 Day 4: Shortness of Breath
WARNINGS: anxiety, panic attacks, imprisonment, demonic possession
----------------------------------------------------------
Nell held her knees close to her chest as she rocked back and forth on her cot, her eyes flicking around the cramped quarters of her dingy cell.
“Hey, it’ll be okay, just calm down.”
She turned, casting her wide eyes upon a girl across from her who was slowly making her way closer to where she held herself in safety.
Well, that wouldn’t do.
“Stay— stay away— from me,” she uttered through heaving breaths. She could feel her skin starting to tingle, a funny numbness twinkling at her fingertips.
“I just want to help you,” the girl said again, taking another step towards Nell.
“I said— no!” Nell shouted, picking up her pillow and tossing it at the encroacher.
“Why don’t you let me handle this one, dollface?” a different voice crooned. Or at least, Nell thought it was a different voice. It also kind of still sounded like the girl in front of her. Shit, was she already going insane?
Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck—
Nell felt her chest tighten, her breaths shortening as panic overwhelmed her. It was as though her head was buzzing, filled with thousands of bees that just wouldn’t shut the fuck up for two seconds so that she could think straight. Her hands and feet went cold, and the feeling of nausea worked its way up from her stomach to a nicely formed lump in her throat.
“Oh, yeah, because you’re such a people person,” the girl from earlier jeered. Nell could practically hear the eyeroll.
“I happen to have thousands of years of experience with people, thank you very much,” the second voice sniffed, sounding very much offended.
As entertaining as this was, it couldn’t pull Nell from the full blown panic attack that was threatening to consume her at any moment. She hugged her knees tighter to her still.
“Fine, fine. Have at it then. But you’ll owe me one,” the girl responded. Something sounding similar to the release of a long-held breath echoed through the small cell, but at this point, Nell’s head was shoved firmly down between her knees. She was determined to make herself as small as possible to keep her freak out level to a minimum. Surely that was the solution here.
The sound of a throat clearing drew Nell’s attention, but she kept her head down. She was safe here. Everything was fine. And as long as she kept her head down, she could convince herself to believe that.
“Hey, uhm, kid? Hangin’ in there?” the second voice asked.
“What kind of a stupid-ass question is that? Does she look okay to you, Nar?” the first girl snorted.
Nar hissed back in response, “Will you shut up? I told you to let me handle it, this is me handling it. And don’t call me that. It’s Narkissa.”
“Sure, sure, fine. Whatever,” the first girl answered sardonically.
“Sorry about that. Ignore Sadie. She’s… Anyway, where were we?” Narkissa continued, closer this time than she had been earlier.
“Just— just leave me— alone,” Nell stammered between sobs. “I’ll be f—fine.”
Narkissa laughed, “Yeah, you’re doing so well on your own, clearly.”
Nell didn’t think that dignified a response, so instead, she spent her energy focusing on her breathing and figuring out how the fuck to take in a deep goddamn breath. Since when did that become the hardest thing in the world?
“Listen, I want you to look at me, okay? Can you do that?” Narkissa asked, her tone kinder and more pleading than a moment before. That alone convinced Nell to pull her head out of the hole she’d been hiding it in, but when she did, she was even more confused than before.
The first girl, the girl who’d been coming toward her earlier, was standing before Nell now. She had long, blonde, beautiful hair, her ears, neck, and wrists were dripping in expensive jewels and diamonds, and she was dressed like one of the mean girls in, well, the movie Mean Girls. But this voice that was talking to her now, it wasn’t that girl’s voice.
“A—are you two tw—twins?” Nell asked haltingly, her chest still gripped in the iron vice of hysteria.
Narkissa reared her head back in confusion, “What?”
“You and S—Sadie. You look i—dentical,” Nell explained, peering around Narkissa to get a good look at Sadie, just to make sure she wasn’t seeing things. And that’s when she realized: she and Narkissa were the only two in the cell.
Nell raised her head up from her knees, looking back at Narkissa with a look of complete perplexion.
Narkissa pursed her lips, squinting her eyes as though she were contemplating how to answer. She took a deep breath, then said, “Right. That’s sort of a, uh, long— well, not long. Weird. It’s sort of a weird story. And I promise to tell it to you if you listen to me right now. Deal?”
Still utterly bewildered, Nell just nodded her head, her curiosity winning out over her frenzied dread for the moment.
“Good. Okay, I want you to just focus on me. Can you do that?” Narkissa asked, squatting down in front of Nell. She nodded her head again in response.
“Okay. We’re gonna breathe now, together. Ready? Deep breath in, in, in— good, now out, slowly, slowly. Good. You’re doing good, Nell,” Narkissa reassured her. At the back of her mind, Nell wondered how she even knew her name, but the thought quickly left her when Narkissa spoke again.
For a few minutes, they sat there, breathing together, slowly, deeply, Narkissa never allowing Nell to break her focus. Eventually, Nell’s heart rate slowed down to something more reasonable, and the tingling sensation receded from her nerves. She warmed, and loosened the death grip she still had on her knees.
A few awkward moments passed before Nell spoke up, tentatively obliging, “Thank you. I appreciate what you did.”
Narkissa stared at her for a beat, her eyes flicking between Nell’s own, before she hastily stood, flipping her hair nonchalantly before turning and walking back across the cell, swaying her hips the whole time as she flippantly tossed over her shoulder, “Whatever, I only did it because you were starting to annoy me. Don’t get too attached.”
Nell stared after her, her head tilting as she tried to figure out what that immediate change was about. Then, she called out, “What about that story you promised me?”
Narkissa threw her head back, hissing, “God, you’re so needy. I don’t have time for this. Sadie, you deal with it.”
Her body jerked, prompting Nell to her feet out of concern. “Hey, are you—?”
Before she could finish her sentence, Nell again heard the sound of a releasing breath and watched Narkissa’s body shudder again. Then, she turned back to Nell, a soft smile painted across her lips.
“Sorry about that. Nar is like, way dramatic. You’ll get used to her.”
The voice came from Narkissa’s body, but… it was the first girl’s voice. Nell’s eyes widened. What the hell was going on here?
She could feel her chest threatening to tighten again, but Nell took a deep breath like she’d done with Narkissa and just flat-out asked, “Okay… what— and I mean this sincerely— the fuck?”
With pity in her eyes, she sighed and answered, “Right, yeah. Nar always leaves me with the fun bit. Okay, so.”
She flipped her hair again and strutted back over to Nell, plopping herself down on the cot next to her. Nell scooted a good foot away when she did, keeping her eyes on her the entire time. If she was hearing voices in her head, Nell needed to keep an eye on her to make sure they didn't suddenly tell her to kill Nell right there on the bed.
“Hi, I’m Sadie. Sadie Schultz, it’s nice to meet you,” Sadie extended her hand, but Nell just stared back at her, unmoving from her spot. Awkwardly, Sadie retracted her arm, brushing her perfect hair behind her ear and continuing, “A long time ago, I was out partying with my friends— we were at this totally kick-ass bar in New York, it was on the rooftop of one of the fanciest hotels and it was incredible.”
Sadie twirled a piece of hair, lost in her memory of that night until Nell cleared her throat, prompting her to continue. “Oh, yeah, right. So like, we were partying and living it up, but I seriously had to pee. So, I went to the bathroom— and I was, like, totally smashed, so this part is definitely not my fault— and there was this totally weird guy in there. But I’m drunk, right? So I’m like, ‘whatever, must be the bathroom attendant,’ and I walk past him. But the dickhead grabs my arm and whispers something really pretty in my ear, and that was sweet and all but I was not interested. So, I ignored him and peed and came out and washed my hands and that’s when I saw this little piece of, like, old paper on the counter. I picked it up and read it out loud and then all of a sudden the room got super foggy and there were some major ooky-spooky vibes. This black smoke showed up and forced its way in my mouth and, long story short, that’s how I met Narkissa.”
She smiled like it was the simplest thing in the world to understand, but Nell’s head was reeling. So, Sadie got drunk and probably high from some random dude hanging out in the ladies’ room and made an imaginary friend?
“What?” Nell couldn’t stop herself from asking.
Nell heard the breathy sound again and watched as Sadie’s head shook back and forth a few times. If she was having a seizure, she was fucked, because Nell had no idea how to help.
“For fuck’s sake, Sadie,” Narkissa’s voice hissed from Sadie’s mouth. She made direct eye contact with Nell, then shut her eyes, holding them closed for longer than normal before opening them again.
They were coal black. Not just the iris, but her entire eye had gone completely blank, filled only with the void of darkness. It stayed long enough for Nell to blink a few times to try and get the hallucination to go away, but it wouldn’t. And then, as Nell stared, the black shrank back into the bright blue pools of Sadie’s irises, and it was as if it had never been there in the first place.
A chill ran down Nell’s spine as Narkissa spoke again, “I’m a demon, Nell. Narkissa, Grand Duke to the Under, pleasure to finally make your acquaintance. And I’ve been trapped in Sadie’s body ever since that infernal day that she summoned me to her in that accursed bathroom.”
“Oh.” That was all Nell could say in response. What else do you say to that? “Sorry you got tricked into and trapped inside of a human, that really sucks, man”?
She could feel her lungs shrinking, perhaps even threatening to implode this time as another panic attack began to overwhelm her. Were demons real now? Is that really what she was going to believe? And if she believed that, what else could be out there? Vampires? Werewolves? Faeries?
There was a new, endless supply of terror just waiting to overwhelm Nell at the most inconvenient of times, and she simply was not going to have it. She grabbed her pillow off the floor where she’d thrown it at Sadie, dropped back down on the cot, and threw it over her head.
“No,” she said. And nothing else.
“No?” Narkissa asked, clearly confounded.
“No,” Nell repeated.
“What do you mean ‘no’?” Narkissa snarled, clearly losing her patience.
“I can’t do this right now,” she responded, fighting back her desire to hyperventilate her problems away.
“Well that’s too fucking bad, sweetheart, because whether you like it or not, it’s real. And it’s not going away,” Narkissa spat, standing in a huff and pacing to the other side of the cell.
“Will you just calm down? It was a lot for her to take. Just like, give her some time,” Sadie attempted to soothe Narkissa, but she wasn’t having it.
“Calm down? Why don’t you shut the fuck up for once and give me one fucking moment of peace, huh?” Narkissa snarked back, stewing.
“Someone sounds upset that she’s been rejected by the pretty girl in the cell,” Sadie teased, her voice lilting.
“I hate you,” Narkissa jabbed, but there was no heat behind her voice.
“No, you don’t,” Sadie hummed.
Sadie walked back over to Nell, gently lifting the pillow off of her head. Nell looked up at her with big doe eyes, and Sadie offered a friendly hand.
“C’mon, sit up. We’ve got work to do,” she appealed, smiling wider when Nell accepted and did as she was told.
“Work? What work?” Nell asked, pleased that her chest was calming down of its own accord this time.
“Well, we’re all trapped in this cell, aren’t we?” Narkissa grumbled, rolling her eyes. “Let’s figure out a way to bust out of this joint.”

Thirsty Baddie Ranks Top 5 Sexiest Disney Characters
I am having one of the worst weeks of my life right now and this whole post is me trying to distract myself by rewatching this glorious glorious episode of Top 5 Beatdown. It’s an absolute delight of an episode and it made me feel better for the time I rewatched it.
So, naturally, I want to write about it.
I like that the episode starts like this...
Tumblr media
... because wasn’t he the one who suggested the topic?
Anyway, we are off to a fantastic start. And Joyce is back! Always love to see her, her energy, her sense of humor and her stunning outfit. Made me feel better immediately.
I still don’t know how I feel about Shane purring because it is equally cute, funny and disturbing - which probably means that he should do it more often. (Also because it is extremely entertaining to see Ryan’s reaction lol.)
“This is Top 5 Beatdown! I respect you when the cameras are off.” I love her.
It’s still hilarious that Ryan said he watched A Goofy Movie on “performance enhancers” (weed) and Shane’s first thought was cocaine while Joyce’s first thought was viagra lmao.
Tumblr media
Ryan’s number 5 (Powerline) is extremely valid btw (even though I would not put him on my own list). When I first watched the episode, I listened to Eye to Eye on repeat for several days afterwards.
🎶 If we listen to each other’s hearts we’ll find we’re never to far apart And mayyybe love is the reason why for the first time ever we’re seeing it eye to eye 🎶
And Mouse Madej returns! I am just going to use this opportunity to share my Miss Bianca/Mouse Madej art here again. ^-^ (Steven banned fanart for this episode which naturally led to people drawing more fanart for this one than for any other T5B episode. I kept it wholesome though.)
Tumblr media
The innuendos in this episode lol
Ryan: “And she (Nani) loves her sister’s little blue guy.”
Shane: “Oh, we had a blue guy. Had.”
*a transparent Professor undulates across the screen*
This made me realize once again how much they bring up the nasty little blue guy in shows that are not Puppet History. Months later and they are still rubbing it in. (R.I.P to a real one.)
BUT ALSO
RYAN
HOW can you mention Vixey but not Maid Marian! If we are talking about sexy vixens, she is CLEARLY superior!
And while I am calling out people here - I agree that Ursula should be at least on one list but no one mentioned that she is inspired by Divine who was a drag queen. I just think Ursula should have gotten bonus points for that (and maybe be moved a little higher on the list SHANE).
That being said, it’s one of the most valid picks in this entire episode. ^-^
I have never watched Big Hero 6 and had to look up what the aunt looks like, and I loved Ryan’s reaction. “Oh I see. ... Oh I see. 👀“
Tumblr media
Aaand here we have Mr Bergara’s first mention of lovely green eyes. I agree that green eyes are lovely but personally, I think that dark brown is clearly the best eye color, not that I am biased. Also, I would not call Nala’s eyes green, they look more blue-ish to me. :p
Ryan: “(...) a littel topsy-turvy.”
Shane: “Or bottomsy-turvy.”
I wonder how many people thought this too and then rejoiced when he said it, because I certainly did. :D
The whole part with Queenie the Cow is a mess lmao. I sometimes wonder what went on in Shane’s brain when he added (oedipal). Like, what was the thought process here.
“I don’t have mommy issues. I love that she gives milk.”
This is such a golden quote. And I love that Ryan immediately calls him out for it.
Not gonna lie though, all the things Shane said about Queenie’s kindness and sweetness are very endearing, almost too endearing for a video like this. ^-^
Tumblr media
And Mouse Madej strikes again. I know what Shane means with “aspirational hot” though (and a top hat and cape sounds dope) although for me it would be more in the realm of gender envy. (Btw I think that Shane’s list is very interesting in general.)
Mulan is a great choice too (although she is not on my list either). Joyce: “It’s a little bit androgynous.” I agree that it makes a character so much more appealing. ^-^ Like, things that play with gender like that? Hell yeah.
Never thought I would hear the words “post-nut clarity” while someone was talking about The Lion King. I will think about this on my deathbed, thank you Ryan.
Loved Joyce’s wholesome ending to a non-wholesome video.
“To be a ho, you gotta be wholesome.” Embroider that one on a pillow lmao.
And here is my list:
1) Long John Silver (Treasure Planet) 2) Merlin (The Sword in the Stone) 3) Ursula (The Little Mermaid) 4) Maid Marian (Robin Hood) 5) Nala/Sarabi (The Lion King)
I am appalled that nobody even considered this guy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(And honestly, I both think he is sexy AND I get gender envy from him. Absolute dreamboat.)
Well, that’s it! I loved rewatching the episode, it made things a little better and I could forget the other stuff in my life for a while. Thanks, Watcher and Joyce! 💜
(I also feel the need to mention at this point that I am asexual as hell lol. Just as a way to finish this text. ^-^)
Thanks for reading!

(More Grimmons first-date nonsense, where restaurant staff are enthralled by the bickering romance that is Grif and Simmons, and also I like food about much as Grif, and it shows~)
Grif decided on the bacon cheddar cheese burger (which was made by frying the bacon up first, then crushing the crispy bits up, and mixing it with the burger meat, so the bacon was cooked inside of the patty), with sweet and spicy barbeque sauce. He chose the diced potatoes fried with onions, bell peppers, and garlic to go with it. Plus, a side of fried mozzarella sticks with marinara dip. Simmons ordered a grilled chicken burger that came with sauteed mushrooms and avocado (the chicken was seasons with mixed peppercorn and garlic). He also ordered a bowl of cheddar broccoli soup, and a side salad.
They both got rootbeers, and when the drinks came, Grif teased Simmons; asking if he was still pretending to be vegan, and Simmons pointing out he never specifically claimed to be any such thing, he just didn’t eat a lot of meat, except Grif remembered several times years back when Simmons used that word to describe himself and acted very superior about it, to which Simmons argued that eating a vegan diet and actually BEING vegan weren’t the same thing, and a playful argument ensued as they waited for their food… and continued once it arrived.
“Hey, you see those guys over there?”
“Yeah?”
“What do you think?”
“Just buddies. Obviously,”
“Nah, I think they’re exes trying to be friends again. They’ve got that weird I-used-to-love-you-but-you-drive-me-crazy energy,”
“Hey, maybe DON’T gossip about customers while they’re still here, and also maybe DON’T make assumptions about relationships between total strangers, hmm?”
The two employees gathering up plates and cups jumped at the new voice; they had been looking across the restaurant as they worked, watching the booth with the two men who seemed to be constantly bickering. The men also kept on sharing bites of each other’s food, leaning close, wrapped up in their own little world, and tapping their feet together under the table (like an attempt at playing footsie). It was surprisingly fascinating, the way they were almost seeing who could annoy the other the most, upping the ante, and then turning it around by sharing a compliment instead of an insult. Suddenly, grumbles and flustered noises would turn into fond laughter. It all seemed like one big inside joke, and even though the onlookers didn’t understand what was happening over there, it was undeniably entertaining.
Now they had been caught by one of their coworkers, and hurried to finish with the cleaning.
“Right, right, sorry!”
“Yeah, sorry, we really weren’t trying to be nosy, we just got distracted…”
“I know, you didn’t mean any harm. You’re not in trouble. It can just kinda be a little rude to talk about random people in public,” the third person explained, not wanting to scold the others too harshly, but hoping they would understand why somebody else might get upset. “Besides, those guys over there are DEFINITELY married…”
When the food was done, somebody came by to ask if either man wanted dessert.
“Oh, ABSOLUTELY!” Grif started checking out the menu of various treats. “Simmons. Simmons, look at this. Oh my GOD,”
He held the menu out, thumb tapping to one picture, so Simmons would find it.
“S’mores Supreme…” Simmons read the name out-loud, then smiled up at the waiter. “OK, what exactly is that?”
“Oh, it’s one of our specials! Vanilla ice cream and hot fudge, with toasted marshmallows and crushed up graham crackers!” the young man, name-tag reading Hayden, explained.
“The ice cream has toasted marshmallows on it?” Simmons asked.
“Yep! They’re flambeed, right there on top of the ice cream, so they’re golden-brown and warm inside. Seriously, this is so good. Might just be my favorite,” the waiter continued.
“I think I’m in love,” Grif spoke in a dreamy voice, looking at the picture on the menu. Simmons laughed and rolled his eyes.
“Should I be jealous? I mean, I can leave if you’d rather continue the date with the food-” Simmons turned away, pretending to be offended.
“Don’t be like that, you know I have room in my heart for you AND ice cream,” Grif reached out and scooted closer in the booth, dramatically attempting to console his boyfriend.
“Well, I don’t know if I want to share you…” Simmons said, fighting the smile that wanted to spread across his face (the smile was winning).
“Aww, ice cream comes and goes, and eventually melts…” Grif was holding Simmons’ hand now.
“Are you trying to be all romantic and philosophical about dessert right now?” Simmons couldn’t hide how amused he was.
“BUT, we’ll always be together. And besides, YOU make ME melt-”
“You are so embarrassing, shut up! I’m sorry, please ignore him!” Simmons looked back at their poor waiter, who had to witness this lovey-dovey act from his boyfriend… but he was also undeniably proud of this too (having somebody who fussed over him, who said such over-the-top mushy nonsense, but also meant it with absolutely no trace of irony. Attention and compliments from somebody he loved? Simmons couldn’t get enough, despite his protests of embarrassment). “Yes, we’d like a S’mores Supreme, please!”
“OK, so- one to share? We can do two scoops, three, four, or five…” Hayden began writing it down.
“Better go with five,” Simmons tried to say with an even tone (difficult, because Grif was giggling and grinning as he cuddled against Simmons’ shoulder, enjoying how much he had made his boyfriend blush).
“Alright, five it is. Also, we try to make sure the marshmallows are just right… but some of them can get a little bit burned,” Hayden warned.
“That’s fine, honestly,” Simmons said.
“Yeah, burned is one of my favorite flavors!” Grif added.
As Hayden walked away to hand-off their order, he heard them begin a whole new discussion about how “Burned is NOT a flavor!”, “If you can taste it, then it’s a flavor! That’s exactly what flavor is!”, followed by more laughter.
“Hey, the guys at booth 17 would like a S’mores Supreme!” Hayden told two of the desert chefs who handled ice cream in the kitchen. “And I think they just got engaged or something. Maybe celebrating their anniversary. Either way, they’ve been love-birds for a long time…”

Chapter 24
Kade
Everything couldn’t be more perfect than it actually was. Chris and I’s little situationship was getting more solid than before. There was nothing that could ruin what we have going on. I was truly ready to see where this could go and hopefully for the future. As I was getting ready for bed. I couldn’t help but think about that day where shit was all fucked up. Keisha really was willing to protect herself from Keeis. I pray and hope that I’m never in that situation.
I slowly scrolled through my Twitter TL and just liked and retweeted some post. As I kept scrolling something caught my eye. It looked like someone I followed from school liked something Kambria posted.
@Bossbxtchkam : I can’t stand females who have to fuck it up for the rest of us. He doesn’t even like you Sis.
I really didn’t have the energy to entertain her childish antics. She’s the one who wants to have such a problem with me over Chris. I don’t want him that badly but I’m not going to give up on our potential. I set my phone down on my nightstand and got comfy under my comforter blanket. For right now I’m going to ignore this sad cry for help.
As my eyes were getting heavy. Sleep was approaching me faster than I could think.
~~~
My alarm was blaring loud disturbing my peaceful slumber. I was dreaming that everything with Chris and I was perfect. No distractions just vibes. My phone began vibrating violently on my nightstand. Grabbing my phone violently to stop the disturbance it was giving to my peaceful state of sleep. “Hello?” I answered and tapped the speaker. “T1. Have you checked your TL yet?” Mal asked as I yawned and rolled my eyes. “Girl no” I said as I exited the phone screen and tapped the Twitter app. “Well Kambria is coming for you motherfucking head Kade” Mal said as I was growing annoyed by the retweets and just the fact this girl had a problem with me. I haven’t done anything to her personally. What Chris and I have is between us. How was I suppose to know the girl was obsessed with the boy. I don’t blame her but damn girl step your game up.
Mallory
My day was already starting off on the dramatic tip all because a thirsty ass bitch wants to try my best friend. She clearly didn’t want to come for her because I was always ready to research and discover receipts if needed. “Mally! Mally!” My twin brothers yelled in unison as they busted through my door. I couldn’t help but smile even though I didn’t like when they would do that. “Hi Boys” I said cheerfully as they both ran and hugged my legs. Those two practically almost knocked me down. “Alright! Alright!” I said laughing as they released me of their tight grip. “Mami says breakfast is ready!” They said in unison as it always creeped me out. “Ok I’ll be down in a minute” I said as I ruffled both of their curly heads. They turned in sync and ran out my door.
~~~
I could feel the tension as soon as I walked up to the Quad. I definitely don’t understand where Kambria’s animosity was coming from. We literally as a friend group welcomed her in and she wants to come for my best friend’s head? I walked up to the chaos that was going to ensue shortly.
“I just want to talk Chris” Kambria said as she stood firm with her arms tightly crossed over her chest. Kade just sat quietly as she watched the interaction that was going on. “I already told you. There’s nothing to talk about dude” Chris said too nonchalantly. I wasn’t sure what was going on but I sure was going to find out. “Kade!” I whispered loudly to her. She looked at me and rolled her eyes. I motioned her to get up so we could talk. She slowly got up and walked towards me. “What the hell is going on?” I asked confused to all that was going on.
“I was hanging out with Chris before first period starts and this bitch bombards her way over to us all upset” She said rolling her eyes and placing her hands on her hips. “I thought their little whatever the hell it was ended” I replied. “Well it is according to Chris but this bitch is hung up on some bullshit” Kade said then quickly looked over to Chris and Kambria arguing.
“Look! I alright told you before it didn’t happen. Let the shit go man!” Chris yelled as he was growing upset as well. “Why can’t you just admit it to me!? If you did then I wouldn’t have to keep asking you to talk to me” Kambria yelled back. “Man get the fuck on. There’s nothing left to say man” Chris said as he turned his back to her and started walking towards us.
“Chris, I’m pregnant!” Kambria said as I felt everything go black around me.

Indoor Activities to Escape the Summer Heat
I am a work-from-home mom when I am not at school covering for a teacher, and most of the time, I find myself excitedly thinking about different activities that I can enjoy beyond the four corners of my home. However, when I look outside and see the blazing heat of the sun and the possibility of adding up to the sunspots at the corner of my eyes, I suddenly feel deterred from carrying on with my plan.
When this scenario happens, I usually just stay at home because, hey! It is fun to stay indoors, too!
So, Listed! In here are different activities that a scared-to-get-sunburned mom can enjoy inside the house to escape the summer heat.
Indoor Activities to Escape the Summer Heat
Work out.
One of the first activities that I do during the day once I have our home to myself is working out. I simply prepare my yoga mat, tune in to my YouTube workout buddy Emi Wong’s channel, and follow the workout plan designed for the day.
Doing this sets my mind to greater heights, just like what Robin Sharma said in his 5AM Club book. Though I do not work out at 5 am as recommended, I definitely still get the morning boost that I need before executing all the tasks I prepared to do during the day.
Not only will a 30-minute workout session make you healthy and strong, it will also enliven your listless energy as working out releases happy hormones that will last throughout the day.
Learn online.
My personal mantra is for learning to never stop. This is the reason that whenever I do menial household chores such as washing the dishes or folding clothes, I listen to podcasts or Spotify materials with the aim of learning something new or catching something amusing at home.
So far, these are some of the materials that I found online that have kept my mental juices flowing constantly:
a. Ted Talks.
TED Talks are influential and inspiring videos shared by speakers who are experts in their various fields.  I love the different genres covered by Ted Talks. Whether in the field of education, sciences, psychology, or entertainment, Ted Talks episodes are always fun, engaging, and encouraging to listen to. Some episodes, such as the struggles in Afghanistan, exposed me to the discrimination that Afghan girls were experiencing in their country. Meanwhile, some episodes inspired me to become more generous to the world.
b. Joyce Meyer.
For those who are in tune with their spirituality, Joyce Meyer Ministries is definitely an option to listen to. I find her preachings practical, realistic, and inspiring. She injects personal anecdotes and inspirational nuggets on how she learned to forgive and live her best life despite being sexually and emotionally abused as a child.
One of the most important lessons that stuck with me is to not talk negatively about myself. This may seem trivial and obvious for many, but for someone who has dealt with so much in the past, it was hard for me to look at myself positively. I realized that, “hey, I have been talking shit about myself all the time! Stop it!”
c. One Percent Better.
This YouTube channel provides animated summaries of books from different genres. Books such as 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Atomic Habits, and the like, will surely captivate your attention because of the graphics and animations shown as the narrator summarizes the book.
I love watching these animations because some books, especially the hardbound ones, are so intimidating to read! Also, watching these summaries makes me feel like I have read more books than I can imagine in a day!
d. Coursera courses.
Coursera is an online course provider that is based in America. It is associated with different universities in offering online courses and certifications on various subjects.
You can opt to either pay so you will have a certificate after successful completion of the course, or you can avail of their no-certificate courses just to learn something new from the course. So far, I have taken courses on digital marketing, child safety, and communication. Of course, I always take the free courses! I’m just after learning new things, after all.
Cultivate your passion
Do you have a green thumb? Work on your indoor garden (or the one sitting on your veranda). Do you love singing? Sing your heart out and if you like, sing ala karaoke style on YouTube. Do you have a passion for writing? Go on and pour out your ideas in your notebook. Are you trying to be a master chef? Learn new recipes and try them out in the kitchen!
Personally, whenever I am too lazy to go outside, I belt out my favorite tunes using Sing King! I also write blogs, like the one you are reading right now!
Watch Netflix
Of course, this list will not be complete without the famous Netflix! Just like what its Chief Communications Officer said years ago, he envisions Netflix to be a brand that people would believe they cannot live without. True enough, Netflix is, I believe, a staple in any digital household. Just be careful not to be addicted to it. It is a strong digital opioid!
Take a nap
You are alone at home and you have the bed to yourself! Take a nap as a way of rewarding yourself for tasks finished during the day. After all, for a mom like me, I always need to recharge so that I have enough energy to bond with my schoolgirl when she comes home from school. Enjoy the luxury of sleeping for a few minutes. Just don’t forget to set the alarm!
There you go! So, are you still feeling unenthusiastic about enjoying the outdoors? No worries! With the scorching heat outside (the heat index factor in Cambodia has risen to 41 degrees Celsius!), it might actually be safer to just stay at home.
Save exploring the outdoors when the weather is finer! For now, read again and you might want to try something from the list!
