#100 days of getting better

Why I will always do art with the intention to improve rather than do it for fun.

Expressing your thoughts is the best solution to beat your anxiety and worries. For us artists, we express through visuals either by drawing or painting but is it enough to just draw or paint your emotions. It is okay to paint what you don't know? Maybe for some, it works. Maybe for non-artist, it works but for me as a professional artist, I need to have a theme, a subject of what I paint or draw, and often times I am caught in paralysis because I can't express myself right away.

When I am feeling low, compare it to painting something out of nothing, painting with the intention makes a huge shift in my mood because probably I can see and clearly understand what I painted.

This was my emotion color wheel. It did great on labeling what I feel and being able to see it right in front of me but nothing can ever compare to the fulfillment when I can see a form.

When I have the intention to paint, it makes a huge difference because I felt I am capable of amazing things. Every time I draw and paint with the intention, I figured that I can express myself better and it's addictive in a positive way because I wanted to continually express myself and I wanna get better.

Because of these sketching challenges, I wanted to dive deeper into the foundations of art so I could express myself visually better.

The better the art the better I feel.

I, therefore, conclude that practicing with the intention to improve my art is helpful in my mental health rather than practicing for the sake of it.

It is more fun to be able to express myself with proper art composition, lighting, and anatomy.

It hits different when I have an intention.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) Directed by Sam Raimi As I mentioned in the previous post, I watched the Doctor Strange sequel on Friday and liked it (detailed writeup with #nospoilers is there). So, did this sketch too with one of the Strange variants in the movie. You can swipe to see a scan. Also, I've put up scanned versions of the previous two sketches I did, of Clint Eastwood from "A Fistful of Dollars" and Mahesh Babu from "Businessman" because the latter movie uses the former's theme and that's used in many Reels. I had put up a Reel with it, but thought I'll post the images also. Also, included in this post are a couple of videos, one showing the Clint and Mahesh drawing, and something which I had been discussing with a few artist friends recently, which is the fixative spray that I use. It's Camel Arfina Artist's Fixative Spray which can be ordered from Amazon.
