While long hair on men continued to be the fashion during the 1400s, the style started to draw criticism from churchmen and other moralistic authorities who worried that long hair for men meant trouble. This resulted in long hair mostly falling out of fashion by the 1500s. However, beard-wearing was still seen as a sign of masculinity and almost a rite of passage, symbolising the transition from boy to man. CC links under the cut.

The dawn of a new century brought with it the winds of change. Alfred and his new bride, Anna, forsook the silk trade to move to Henford-on-Bagley to pursue nectar making. The move did not bring the family luck and on her 20th birthday, Anna lost the battle to typhoid and passed. Alone, and on an abandoned farm with almost no funds, Alfred had to work hard to rebuild his home and his family. Eventually, he met the humble Celestina, who was able to give him two heirs before, in 1409, he too was taken from this life. Going into the 1410s, our two main households - the Brookers and the Cliffords- must fight to keep their legacy alive, as there are very few eligble heirs remaining to pass on the family name. Meanwhile, the new families of Shaw and Bigod are blessed with a number of children to carry on the family name. Come 1420, will we still be able to call this the Brooker legacy?

inspired by my running into a codywan fic posted in 2017 for the star wars rarepair exchange last night, i graphed the growth of codywan on ao3

notes: works from the "CC-2224 | Cody/Obi-Wan Kenobi" tag on ao3 were filtered by date. no other filters were used. each year shows the number of works at the end of that year (i.e., 2022/12/31, 2021/12/31, etc). technically, the graphs show the number of works updated, not posted, as i could not find any option to filter works on ao3 by date posted. however, i don't think this really makes a difference in the overall trend of growth

A new apartment lot I built and thought I’d share! If you saw my last post this was the one where I didn’t remember you had to have a fridge on the lot and thought the communal barbecue was broken.... but luckily, not so!

This is three apartments, each level is identical except the ground floor has a slightly larger patio, so the rent is a bit higher. They’re all 2 bed/1 bath, between $1400-$1700 rent - the apartments aren’t large, but look at all the amenities!

Info here! This is such a wonderful idea, and although I worry constantly about leaving people out, I also think it's important to let people know when you like something they've done. If I ever find myself thinking, "Huh, I really need This Thing in my game" then chances are @simdertalia will have made it. Then what happens is I find something I didn't know I needed, and I download that too. 🤣 Featured above are Simdertalia's roots and vines which I used for a plant magic scene, crisps and drinks for one of the few occasions when my Sims got to leave the house, and the Funko Pop cereal boxes which I think were how I discovered her CC in the first place!

I think I use at least one of @samssims / @samsstudio 's poses in every post I make. 🤣❤️ What I like most is that I don't have to waste time going through multiple posepacks to find the right emotion - they're so well-organised AND the look down/sitting versions are SO useful too. Following on from the simple modesty of the 1300s, female hair in the 1400s became a lot more elaborate thanks to the addition of hair pieces, ribbon and other decorations. Braided styles evolved into very detailed and decorative concoctions. Styles also became more flowy and romantic, often with curls framing the face. CC links under the cut.

Today, The Queen and Members of The Royal Family attended the annual Queen’s Birthday Parade known as Trooping the Colour.

The event took place on Horse Guards Parade in London, and The Queen travelled down The Mall from Buckingham Palace in the Scottish State Coach.

The Parade was also attended by HRH Prince Peter,The Duke of Windsorburg, HRH Jame Prince Crown, The Duke of Edinburg, HRH Henry, The Duke of Wellington who rode out as Royal Colonels of various regiments.

HRH Princess Margrethe, The Crown Princess, HRH Princess Victoria,The Royal Princess,The Duchess of Edinburg and The Duchess of Wellington, attended and travelled and waiting to The Queen Arrival.

During her reign The Queen has attended Trooping the Colour every year, However over 1400 parading soldiers, almost 300 horses Cavalry took part in the ceremony today.💂🏻‍♀️💂🏼💂🏽‍♂️

The Colour of the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards Grenadier Guards were "trooped" at the Parade. The colours (flags) of the battalion are carried (or trooped) down the ranks.

The Queen’s actual birthday is 5 October but is officially celebrated in June with Trooping the Colour, which has marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign for over 350 years.

hey congrats on reaching CM (? wanted to find the post where you mention that to confirm but tumblr search misbehaves). was curious as to how many problems you've solved on cf? I primarily picked it up cause ik it helped friends with interview stuff but I'm 2 months in stuck at ~1200 so wondering if I should be doing things differently. on one hand most problems <1400 are greedy or math so I worry an actual interview will be more "algorithmic" and I'll be unprepared (maybe leetcode is better in this regard?). on the other hand it's soo much easier to fantasise about being good at cp than actually practicing. so. anyway wondering if you had any advice on this? CM in one year does not sound like the journey of your average cf-er. congrats again. cheers!

(full disclosure: I've kind of fallen off with competitive programming - I haven't competed on codechef since January and codeforces/leetcode since April)

My solving totals, ratings, and number of contests are:

Leetcode: 824 problems, 2571 rating, 41 contests

Codeforces: 69 problems, 2000 rating, 14 contests

Codechef: 32 problems, 2046 rating, 4 contests

If you're looking for interview prep I would skip codeforces. Leetcode problems are closer to what you'll get in interviews, and their contests are much less of a time commitment. I also code in Rust on CF/CC and Python on Leetcode, and I much prefer to take interviews in Python.

If you snoop around a bit on reddit and the leetcode forums, you can often find lists of problems people have seen at a specific company's interviews to get a flavor of what you're up against. I really recommend this - the problem I struggled with the most in getting my current job was on one such list for my company and I wish I'd gone through the list. This was before I got really good, though.

I think my rapid growth was fueled by three things:

I did math competitions all the way through college that have a similar skillset

My college classes taught a lot of competitive programming concepts (I learned what a SegTree was in class!)

I had a period of 5 months between graduating and starting my job where I was unemployed and highly motivated, and I did a ton of grinding during that period. Most of my leetcode solves are from that time

If you're looking to improve but don't have a ton of time to burn, here's the regimen I recommended to another asker:

15 days from a 32A to 32D Another 17 days to a G, I imagine most would be having regrets around the month mark. 12 more days to a J and 8 more to hit KK, which is about the limit for bras you can find off the rack. At which point they are around 3000cc each, and weigh 12lb each.

It would take 98 days to beat the world record. At which point each breast would way 56lbs, and measure around 33,000 cc. At this point we need to stop considering biology or structural integrity. The calories needed alone to support this much mass would be incredible.

After 157 days, the total volume tops 1 cubic meter. They weight over 1000lb each.

It only takes 14 days after that to double, making each one over 1 cubic meter and weigh around 2 tons at just shy of 6 months.

After a Year, they measure 13,011 cubic meters each. This is a Diameter of roughly 30m, and weigh roughly 23,000 Tons.

At 582 days each is roughly 1 cubic kilometer. At this point it would likely qualify as a natural disaster. A neighbourhood would be destroyed.

At 2 years they hit 705 cKM

And at 768 days, they are big enough to completely cover new york, with a rough diameter of 20 miles when smooshed. Creating likely the greatest disaster of all time. They'd be spreading at around 1400 meters per day, a visible speed of around 1m per minute. (around 350 m2 spherically each, approximate 4 times that for diameter spread.)

Somewhere around day 1000 the spread would be too fast to outrun on foot. Assuming the earth hadn't shattered under the strain.

On day 1162, roughly 3 years and 2 months after eating it, each would reach the size of the planet. And weigh roughly 1,800,669,360,513,070,000,000 tons

And 288 days later, on day 1450, 4 years from the day of the donut, each would reach the volume of the sun.

I don't know if this is good or bad what I'm going to say.. but I am surprised now by everything that is happening in the community of the sims at the moment... and I want to say my thoughts...

I understand that right now most creators are using patreon... and from what I've seen some of them threaten to leave simply because people share their cc or because they don't get paid and they find it on "other sites" I say this as a creator and player and simmer but it's already fine... I mean, all this is so tiring... if I'm honest, it bothers me that ALL the cc is paid even when they keep it for years... and... years ... on the paywalls: 3 but you're saying but... miinx... are there creators who release them after 2-3 weeks? I know there are! but even so... I understand that you create the cc with the mesh of the game, be it an object, clothing, accessory, etc... and that you spend hours... hours... and buying or downloading programs to make your cc and so on ..but you must also understand that there are rules here.. :3 established by the creators of the game itself (EA-Maxis) when ccing and pornerlo on patreon or sites similar to it ..and it seems pretty bad to me that they are not followed the policies or rules: 3.. I also understand that there is a 50/50 here, I mean 50 for ea and 50 for you (if you are a creator) but realize the "50" that you are as a creator is like something... that is to say ..50 ea-maxis for creating the sims and the other 50 is you for creating content for the game... if I'm honest, I think cc because I like it: 3 I love the sims, I consider it a hobby, I also like to watch how people use my content because I feel that I do something that people like and I feel happy with it :3 but back to the case ... if you are a creator who threatens to leave because they do not pay with your cc or because you see it Shared on other platforms or for things like that, well... from what I see you are not the right one to be in the sims community... I know I have my own TOU but if I'm honest I don't care, do you know why? because I know that I am not going to be creating cc forever... at the age of 82 I am not going to be in front of the computer or a laptop creating cc... today it is also a hobby... for people who consider this as " work" CREATING CONTENT IS NOT A JOB!! It can be your hobby or a small profit for developing your work with 3d things but IT IS NOT A JOB WHERE YOU EARN 1400 EUROS OF AVERAGE SALARY! for the love of god... with all this I want to say that... I'm tired of people saying shit... of "if you don't pay" or "you share cc "I'm leaving"
