“He’s back again,” Natasha said, and Bucky nearly broke his neck whipping around to look where she’d nodded. “You’re kind of embarrassing, you know? Like, you could be less obvious. I don’t want him to know I talk about him.”

“Tony’s a fucking idiot,” Bucky assured her, pointing directly at him to prove it.

Tony noticed, glanced over his shoulder, and shuffled out of the way of a bewildered woman wrangling a cart, a toddler, and a baby. Bucky didn’t know her. She didn’t know Bucky. Only Tony would assume he was being pointed at to get out of the fucking way.

Natasha sighed, unable to argue with his evidence. “I’ll tell Steve to go on break so you don’t clothes line him in the break room again,” she said instead, as if Steve wasn’t already speeding up his scanning in terror that Tony might join the line before Bucky came over to ‘relieve’ him again. Luckily Sharon looked more amused than offended.

Bucky sidled behind the register just as Tony set his basket onto the counter. “Hey, sugar.”

Tony blinked up at him, then brightened like the sun. “Bucky! I didn’t know you were cashiering today! I thought it was Steve.”

He was technically supposed to be stocking the beer aisle, but he didn’t tell Tony that. He was gone on him, but not gone enough to embarrass himself. “Well, I’m here. Always glad to serve you, doll.”

“You keep calling me pet names and I’m going to think you’re flirting with me, Bucky,” Tony said, smiling.

Bucky paused, artisan log of goat cheese hovering over the scanner as he turned his gaze on Tony. “...I am flirting with you,” he finally said.

“No,” Tony said, smile dropping in confusion. “It’s just part of your customer service persona. You’re probably nice to all your customers.”

“NO HE FUCKING ISN’T,” Steve bellowed from the break room, where he and Natasha were peeking around the corner, and Peter, standing in line behind Tony, helpfully added, “He’s really not friendly. He has a resting bitch face whenever you’re not here.”

“Peter, when did you get here,” Tony began, then screamed when Bucky reached across the counter to grab the collar of his shirt and tug him in. “Bucky, Peter is a minor!”

Bucky shrugged. “May gave me permission to thump him.”

“She did,” Peter agreed. “She said it takes a village.”

“What the fuck,” Tony breathed as he watched Peter squirm out of his shirt and duck back down an aisle while Bucky shouted ‘no shirt no service you little punk!’

Summary:

Despite presenting late, Tony's father never had any doubt that Tony would follow in his footsteps and be an Alpha. So it is with more than mild dismay that Tony finally presents shortly before exams... as an Omega. Now he's got to go home for the holidays to fend off his parents' outdated notions, including his father's attempts to arrange a Bond for him.

Bucky's had a crush on Tony since they first met, more than a year ago, but he keeps finding excuses not to express his interest. When Tony admits that he's looking for an Alpha to bring home to pretend to be courting him, Bucky volunteers before he can really think about what he's doing.

But it's only for a few days. Everything will be fine.

Tag Nine People You Want to Get to Know Better

Three ships: WinterIron. Sherstrade. Dreville. 

First ever ship: Probably Buffy and Spike. But I heard about fandoms and fanfiction because of Sherlock BBC and Johnlock. I also wrote my first ficlet for them. 

Last song/album is: Endless Summer Vacation by Miley Cyrus. I’m even thinking of buying the CD so I can listen to it in my car. 

Last movie: Pirates of the Caribbean on the tv (always enjoy those movies!) . Knives Out: Glass Onion on Netflix (that one was hilarious and I loved it)

Currently reading: The Hunger Games, book 1. (I bought the box set with the one book included). And I’m reading Winter’s End by  ali_aliska I don’t care that it’s not finished, the words that are out are so good, I’m finding it very comforting. 

Currently watching: I’m following Perry Mason. And I just watched Moon Knight on Disney+  Not sure what I will watch next, I have a list on both Disney+ and Netflix of shows and series I want to try. 

Currently consuming: Nothing at the moment. 

Currently craving: For this day to be over. Or at least for the funeral to be over.

SteveTony Weekly - March 17 - Week 11

So. I’ve been kicking this around for a bit, and here’s the truth: I’m exhausted and overwhelmed. With my current work load and grad school commitments, I can’t commit to what I usually read and I need to limit that so I’m not trying to meet some arbitrary goal I set for myself. I like to have 15 fics for y’all every week and that’s…not happening lately. I thought briefly about pausing the blog, or finding someone to help with weekly posts, and wasn’t loving either option, so here’s the new structure:

The only thing really stopping Tony Stark from attempting to conquer the world is that he wouldn't know what to do with it once he conquered it. He's still pretty sure he could do it, though.

SHIELD's pretty sure he could do it, too, and SHIELD is pretty uncomfortable with that. There's a plan in place, in case Tony makes a try for world domination, or any sort of caped super villainy. It involves Steve. No one is surprised.

This is not that plan. This is a training exercise, involving paint balls.

It might end with world domination, anyway.

Tony is no stranger to people disliking him on sight, hating him with or without reason, but with Steve it’s different. There’s something about Steve, an invisible pull that draws Tony in, makes it impossible for Tony to take the easy way out.

He craves the confrontations with Steve, looks forward to them with an almost perverse glee, his head heavy and foggy with want. Tony wants, he needs. Wants it from Steve, needs it from Steve.

Whatever it is. Tony isn’t sure yet, but he’s determined to find out, no matter what. No backing down.

Ara adjusted the shawl a bit, perhaps as an excuse to caress Rose’s shoulder. “You’re going to tell them it’s a dare, or a bet, or a movie prop, or an animatronics project. Then you’re going to do that thing where your eyes turn gold for a second, and they will stop asking questions and just accept that the world is a little stranger than they thought it was yesterday.”

“Oh, good point.” Rose looked at Orpheus again, right up in her personal space, but definitely ready to live life to the fullest. A huge grin was splitting his face, and his eyes were suspiciously shiny. “Okay, then, let’s do it!”

The (Not Really) Secret Origins of Movie Night by nightwalker

Summary: Somewhere along the line the Avengers have become a pretty good team. But Tony's still the odd man out, and Steve's determined to change that.

Reasons why I love it: This fic gives me all the warm fuzzies. It's fluffy and sweet, and the team slowly but surely growing closer is lovely to see. Plus, Steve expressing his feelings through his art always gives me a special thrill. I love this fic so much, and I bet you will too, so please go and check it out!

Reasons why I love it: The team feels are strong with this one. I love how everyone is so down to model for Steve, and Clint especially always puts a smile on my face. Plus, the whole subplot with Tony is adorable, and their first kiss makes me swoon. This fic is wonderful, and I hope you read it for yourself!

Also love how his friendship with Steve is portrayed here, and the outside PoV of Stony action is both funny and cute. Also-also, Thor being the one to deliver a zinging one-liner made me laugh out loud, and the WinterHawk action fills my heart with joy. I love this fic, and I bet you will too, so I hope you give it a shot!

Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: M Words: 6,701 Tags: Idiots in Love, Protective Avengers, Getting Together

Summary: Steve comes jogging up the path in a pair of offensively small bright blue jogging shorts. He’s shirtless and windswept and glistening – actually glistening – in the warm sunset glow. “Sweet abs of liberty,” Tony says, hooking his sunglasses down his nose to get a better look. “Of thee I sing,” Clint intones, reverently.

Reasons why I love it: There are so many things to love about this fic. Steve being a worry-wart, Clint and Tony salivating over Steve while Bruce despairs at them, Tony finally catching a clue at the end and immediately moving in for the kill. The bit about the assassination attempt that led to all this is just beautiful - seeing how much the team cares for Tony just warms my heart. This fic is incredible, and I bet you'll love it just as much as I did!

The Reasons That Lie Beneath by itsallAvengers

Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: T Words: 10,424 Tags: Cuddle Curse, Suicidal Thoughts, Depression

Summary: When Loki decides to be a little shit and curse Steve Rogers with a cuddling spell- the Avengers are suddenly the victims of crushing hugs and constant hand-holdings. And weirdly- Steve has a strange attachment to Tony in particular. But Loki's trick reveals more to Tony than he had ever expected, and now it's time to face some terrifying realisations that come with the curse. Tony needs more fucking coffee to deal with all this.

Reasons why I love it: You'd think a fic about a cuddling-curse would be fluffy as hell, but this one digs deep into the weeds of angst. And the way it does is fantastic. Steve's pain really tugged at my heartstrings in this one, and I love seeing how the team – especially Tony – reacts once they figure out what's wrong. This fic is amazing, and I hope you give it a shot!

Books to read in 2024.

I finally took out the book that I still need to read off my bookshelves.

The big pile are my own books that I bought.

The little pile are the library books from this week. (The one behind that is a library book I already finished).

I guess this photo clearly shows that I don't need to buy new books, and that I also made the right call to cancel my ebook subscription (at least for now). I have a lot of books to read, and that's not including the fanfics I have on my Ao3 'read later' page.

I wonder if I will be able to read all these books in 2024. The library ones won't be a problem because you have a limited time to finish them.

Somehow it's more difficult with the books I own? Because I they are mine and I don't feel that little bit of pressure to read them because I don't have to give them back? Not sure if other people feel that.

Also I will try to make an effort to read the fanfics I have in my 'read later' list. I think most of them are all bigger ones with multiple chapters. I can use my e-reader for those now, instead of the ebooks in the subscription.
