When a child’s sensory system is overwhelmed, they can feel unsafe. For some children with autism, this experience is due to their heightened sensitivity to sensory stimuli. In crowded or noisy environments, they may struggle to filter out background noise, making it difficult to focus on important cues or stay alert to potential dangers. They may also have difficulty understanding the social cues of others and interpreting nonverbal language, which can lead to misunderstandings and feelings of vulnerability.
Encourages non-judgmental and loving participation with children to create a safe environment. Recommends dedicating 15 minutes to engage with the child, regardless of initial perceptions of success. Emphasizes consistency in engaging with the child daily. Highlights the importance of confidence in the chosen approach, even if it deviates from typical advice. Advocates for understanding and adapting to the child's needs rather than adhering strictly to external advice.
This is my second time partaking in BORP (Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program). They have both in-person and virtual fitness and recreation classes. I enrolled in these classes almost immediately after the pandemic began. They have helped me in such a big way that it's hard to describe in words.
What I can say is that it has helped me grow mentally as well as physically, and without BORP, I honestly wouldn't have found these virtual classes: seated yoga, strength training, and rumba with Tina.
Here I'm coming with the kindness of my heart and ask that you donate to BORP to help them keep these programs going. If you cannot donate, please help share my page asking for their support.
Keeping the door open for people with disabilities is a must, and it equals inclusion.
Amen. The most challenging thing in my way put me in a very difficult position but I didn’t have to choose between things or people. I knew it’s gonna be different and difficult. In some point I realised I showed that I am too strong, too independent, too much in pain, too sick to do things alone. But it was too late and I had to copy with situations I’d never thought happened to me. I had to face the facts I wouldn’t even imagine to take place. Life changes our attitude and point of views but diagnoses and long term illness changes are a lot, like us women every single giving a birth. It does change us, our inner capacity to recognise needs, prioritise requests, develop possibilities and experience more but smarter. I do not give up but I did let go some issues to set my soul be free. And if you see changes in me - good, we’ll done, bravo. But if you create the person I am not in your mind and stick with it for long time it’s obviously not my responsibility. #ability #motivation #strength #life #inclusion #success #abilitynotdisability #skills #quotes #goals ##believe #happiness #instagood #awareness #yearsstrong #hardwork #attitude #positivevibes #health #challenge #makeup #fitness #love #maquiagem #tiktok #motivation #instagram #viral #art #explore https://www.instagram.com/p/Cfkxgr8qNdK/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
