The Doom in Our Blood Comes Back character portrait - Day N 22 Baela the Glorious (version N2)
So this, for now, is officially the last portrait of this long series of portraits. I decided to end it with the same character I started it cause I realised that in these past weeks, my style developed, along with my technique and so I wanted to redraw this first piece. A lot of you loved this series and I hope to continue it even the next year, maybe with some OCs this time. I will keep posting my art here, especially ASOIAF-related stuff and maybe not only TDIOBCB-related but even canon illustrations. Thank you so much for your support, your love really made my day💖 Happy Christmas and a happy New Year to everyone 🎄✨❤️

The Hand sent her [Baela] back to her rooms, posting guards at her door to make certain she remained there until the regents could convene. Yet a day later, he discovered to his dismay that Baela had fled the castle by some secret means (later it was found she had climbed out a window, swapped clothes with a washerwoman, and walked out the front gate). By the time the hue and cry went up, she was halfway across Blackwater Bay, having hired a fisherman to carry her to Driftmark. There she sought out her cousin, the Lord of the Tides, and poured out her woes to him. A fortnight later, Alyn Velaryon and Baela Targaryen were married in the sept on Dragonstone. The bride was sixteen, the groom nearly seventeen. ... Thaddeus Rowan’s wounded pride was appeased by a betrothal to Floris Baratheon, a maid of fourteen years widely considered to be the prettiest of the “Four Storms,” as Lord Borros’s four daughters had become known. In her case, it was a misnomer. ... The stormy marriage would prove to be the one made on Dragonstone, as the years would prove.
Fire and Blood (George R. R. Martin)
Now I want to read all about those marital storms!

Rhaenyra: I'm pretty sure she is fucking Alyn.
Daemon: ...
Rhaenyra: ...
Daemon: Her bastard uncle?
Rhaenyra: Well, Corlys claims he has Laenor's nose but yeah, she is totally fucking her uncle.
Daemon: ...
Rhaenyra: It happens.

Hey thoughts on Baela's ship? Jace or Alyn?
Hey there Anon and sorry for this delay!
I actually have to give you major props because you sent this ask the day I was dealing with the RIP incel at our comment section and here on tumblr, so it was maybe the only thing that day that made me laugh 😂
Me: having drama
You: but what are your thoughts in Baela/Jace and Baela/Alyn though?!
Thank you ❤️
So answering your question, well I think I have mentioned it in the past but I have a lot of mixed feelings about the “Velaryon” princes. For once I think all three of them were very interesting characters who actually have a personality, and for the most part everything about them is positive. They were brave, bold, Jace was smart and shrewd… they were definitely from Baelon and Jaehaerys’s line and though they did not look Targaryen I think inside they were as Targaryen as they could be ❤️ I wholeheartedly believe Daemon kept looking at them and thinking “F:cking hell these should have been MY sons as well!!!!! Imagine just how much better looking they would be!!!! F:ck you Viserys! I could have FIVE boys! 😤” named Daemon, Daemion, and Daemond 😂
I also think they suffered terrible deaths that they did nothing to deserve.
And to all of you who think they did deserve to die because they were bastards, maybe reassess yourselves. It’s one thing for people in the asoiaf to think so, quite another for us here in the real world to think like this. If you need to be told: the circumstances of our births do not define us. Our actions do. You’re welcome!
But (here comes that round juicy 🍑) in the story I felt that they were always destined to die in a way. Kind of like Laenor, Laena, Harwin… like you could tell where all of this was heading to and even from how baby Aegon’s birth and he is described that he was the one destined to have the throne… so I could never get too invested in them, or I tried not to because I just knew it was leading to nothing - and because I new how the story ended before reading it, I mean Aegon III came after Rhaenyra - I just accepted it 🤷🏽‍♀️
I felt about them like I did about Visenya (though I still like Visenya more), in the sense that I like them, but I kind of don’t want them to succeed. While they x10000 better than the Gangreens, their rule would not have worked out, not with Aegon III and Viserys II existing, sorry but no. And if they had gotten the throne Westeros would not have known peace imo. An AU where the Blacks win and the “Velaryon” princes become kings is just not something I think I could believe in. I think Daemon accepting this would be to ooc for him (again imo) and my rule for reading aus is that I have to feel that the characters are still the same while reflecting the change the AU introduces.
This all to say that I think Jace was a great man and he had every trait (except the dodgy circumstances of his birth) to become a great king. Do I think he was better than Alyn and would have made Baela happier? Without a shadow of a doubt. Alyn for the most part was not a good manager and did not make wise decisions and he was a manwh0re who kept cheating on a Targaryen princess. Like b🐕tch! How DARE you?! Also his scene of “I’m a have a son name him Corlys and maybe he will be king” is just 🤮🤡🤮🤡 moment. Like calm down. Way down, Alyn. Like way down!
Tumblr media
Also yes, please worship a f:cking dude who did not care about you and your brother for years 🙄
And yes I still love Corlys as a character so y’all Karens can go lurk someone else. And yes I also still love Alyn despite all of this I am saying.
In the end, I kind of feel that despite everything him and Baela were destined to be together. I did love their secret marriage and though he was a cheating sack of 💩 he did seem to love her. I just loved when he talked about her you know? Like I could feel it.
All in all, gun to my head I will still pick Baela/Alyn. Do I still also like Baela/Jace? Yeah I absolutely do!
All the best to you, Anon 😊 and thank you again!

Lady Aurynn Mormont and Lord Rodrik Mormont, a brief story according to Maester Eustace;
Despite Aurynn being the eldest, she was never once treated as the heir of Bear Island, but rather her younger brother Rodrik. Both grew up in different circles: where her ladyship was proud, fierce and cautious, Rodrik was hedonistic, strong-tempered and highly ambitious. Having been left orphaned at just 14 and 11, their guardian, not having economic means to raise them both, sent the young, pretty Aurynn to be raised among Princess Rhaenyra's children, a promise to one day attend the much desired daughter of the princess. During that time, Aurynn made lifelong connections, such as her future husband Jacaerys, the Dragon Twins and many of the princess' party. She was probably the most comely and lovely of the girls at the princess' court, with a sharp wit, incredible sense of humour that delighted the princess and an unique fashion sense, for her hair was so long she could very well sit on it and was often in complex coiffeurs, and favoured purple and navy blue, as well as expensive fur made from the fiercest bears of Bear Island, a yearly gift from her lord brother as a way of ensuring that she didn't forget her house. At age sixteen, Princess Rhaenyra changed her chess pieces and instead married the beloved and most elegible Aurynn to Jacaerys, and Baela would marry her brother Rodrik instead.
It took Prince Daemon a while to accept this, but after cunning Aurynn wrote a witty and comedic poem to the couple, he accepted her and asked her to love well his son, which she bowed deeply and promised to give his grace nothing but the very best. The double wedding was celebrated three weeks after, and the prince seemed enamored by his bride, which surprised nobody. Baela seemed reluctant because of Rodrik's hedonistic and queer lifestyle, but the morning of their first day as a married couple dropped to his knees before his in-laws and declared that the moment he was promised to Baela he had sworn off such boyish behaviour and would be a new, better man for her, which delighted the couple.
Soon, Aurynn was with child, and Prince Jacaerys, overjoyed, asked for his mother for a joust in such honour, which she gladly granted. Lady Aurynn proved to take pregnancy with poise and grace worthy of a future queen, and if she payed any mind to the symptoms, she said no such thing aloud.
Prince Jacaerys was sent to fight some battles in his mother's name, and kissing heavily pregnant child goodbye, went off to war. Rodrik accompanied him, not before announcing alongside Baela that they too were expecting their first child. Sadly, Prince Jacaerys perished, and everyone at Dragonstone heard Dowager Princess Aurynn's howls of pain. Fearing that the Greens could target her, Rodrik asked the Sea Snake for a strong ship to carry to safety the heir and its mother to impenetrable Bear Island.
Lord Cregan Stark, fulfilling his promise to Prince Jacaerys, started to march down, and heard of the famed beauty Princess Aurynn having stopped in the Riverlands after escaping a storm, and demanded to meet the princess whose beauty couldn't be kept from every man's mouth, and when he saw her, he was struck by her beauty and intelligence, and instead offered Winterfell as a refuge, reminding the princess of the bond with her late husband, which she accepted.
Now leaving for Winterfell, the dowager princess went into labour three days after arriving to Winterfell to a beautiful baby girl, whom she named Visenya Velaryon, and was healthy enough to write to Queen Rhaenyra about how the princess had the late Prince's sweet features and soft brown hair. Sadly, said joy was short-lived, for the babe contacted an illness that killed her in her mother's arms. Her wails of pain and sorrow were heard all over Winterfell, and felt all along the north. Not even sweet Sara Snow's comforts could cure the princess' pain.
During the Hour of the Wolf, Rodrik and Baela, alongside their baby daughter Laena were held hostage by King Aegon II, and chained, for they feared that they might attack the king in an organised attack.
After the deaths of both Queen Rhaenyra and King Aegon, Rodrik was brought into question by Cregan himself, and he, having learned the cunning ways of his sister, used Lord Stark's feelings for his lady sister as a way of getting away from a punishment, and was sent back to Bear Island with a large fine and the promise of Aurynn's hand in marriage in exchange of him giving up Alyssane Blackwood.
Cregan Stark rode back to Winterfell, looking forward marrying Princess Aurynn, to whom upon arriving, went straight to her bedchambers and dropped to his knees and swore love and fealty to her, declaring he had loved her from the moment they first spoke. She accepted with the condition that he never once involved himself in such wars unless it affected Winterfell. Three months later, having recovered from childbirth, they both were married in a lavish wedding, for Lord Cregan paid no expense. One could tell he was deeply enamored by Princess Aurynn, and she had begun to love him as well.
They were married for a decade and four years, Aurynn delivering a child every year, but only four daughters survived infancy: Lyanna, Shireen, Judynn and Ayrin Stark. Lord Cregan loved them very much, but many feared that he had only one heir. Indeed, Rickon's death changed him, for Lady Aurynn caught Cregan red-handed with his distant cousin and who would be his third and last wife. After a heavy argument, Aurynn packed essentials and sailed towards King's Landing, where she exposed King Aegon III her case for a divorce, a formal separation at best. Aegon, seeing that she had no male sons and Cregan had been unfaithful, compared to virtuous and beloved Aurynn, accepted the divorce and signed it himself. In exchange, feeling indebted to who had been once his sister-in-law, offered her a new marriage prospect: Alyn Velaryon, a man that seemed to match the lady's character. The lady accepted with the condition that it'd take the next year so all divorce could be settled.
And thus, Aurynn and Alyn were married in front of King Aegon's eyes in a handsome and elaborate wedding, where Rodrik walked Aurynn for the last time, his daughters Laena and Rhaenys as flower girls. They soon moved to Pentos, away from Westeros and Cregan's jealousy. Aurynn became pregnant once more, and delivered a strikingly beautiful girl, Daena Velaryon, whom they sent to serve to the new queen, Daenera Velaryon. She seemed to enjoy being there, for often Aurynn commented to her husband about how she enjoyed being with her cousins Laena and Rhaenys, and to see Rodrik's only son Aemon become a grown, handsome man.
However, the marriage proved to be incompatible, and when Alyn wasn't gallivanting with a lover, he was at sea, where he was eventually lost. Swearing off a fourth marriage, Aurynn instead moved to a quaint house in King's Landing, where she sought the close friendship and companionship of Princess Visella Targaryen, soon attached to the hip, maybe too close for Westerosi society. She lived her remaining life by giving prosperous matches to her daughters and spoiling her nephew and nieces rotten, all with Visella close behind.
As for Rodrik, he and Baela were a never-ending fairytale, riding dragons together and enjoying a quiet life with their three children and staying away from politics. Their daughters were married to prominent houses, and their son married later in life, having built for himself an impressive career. @blood0fthedragon @mini-kunoichi (inspired by @emilykaldwen & @huramuna )

Sorry if it has been asked before, but what are your favorite pairings with Jace and why?
hii i haven't answered this before. i'm assuming you mean romantic and not platonic so here you go
jace x aegon — this was funny because i did NOT meant for it to be serious when i suggested it to my friend as a joke about people shipping anything in this fandom. jokes on me because i did end up shipping it. i like jacegon because well i really find interesting that aegon and jace are each other's foils and each other's alternative version. aegon is everything jace wants to be, and jace is everything aegon /should/ be. and in spite of being in different sides of the war they were childhood friends (how do you reconcile my brother killing your brother, my mother killed by you). i also think aegon would let himself being taken care of and loved by a jace who needs to be in control of everything. they would manage each other's sicko tendencies....jace wouldn't need to be perfect and perform every minute of his life because aegon already thinks he's perfect anyway (self hatred my old friend...), and with jace's intensity aegon would love to be the centre of someone's attention and love for once without any strings attached. ANYWAY.
jace x baela and jace x alyn x baela — to me, jacela is very lavender marriage coded, on both sides. i headcanon everyone as bisexual so they are fine. i absolutely eat every mention of jace and baela's relationship in f&b and believe they loved each other very much. i mean, they grew up together, became step siblings and then betrothed, that's practically a targaryen fairy tale! their history may have allowed them to get close and inside the limited circumstances choose each other above anyone else. they were very devoted to the other and i also headcanon they had a cheating kink and this is were alyn comes up. okay hear me out, they are A LOT of cheating allegations for jace and baela!! jeyne arryn, sara snow/cregan stark, all the boys baela was apparently kissing.... i mean, if you love someone you also want them to be happy so i headcanon they knew about the other's...activities let's say. i like to think alyn was included and both cheated on the other with alyn who was, apparently, irresistible. which means that when jace died baela and alyn were miserable and were the only other person who loved and knew jace the way the other did. chef's kiss.
thanks for the question!

HOUSE OF THE DRAGON AU: (thought dump for a fic that I'll try to start)
I suddenly remembered a post I saw before stating that Lucerys Velaryon = Prince Eric.
Well
Fancast: Jonah Hauer-King as older Lucerys Velaryon (growing up to be the Lord of the Tides and Master of Driftmark). Able to pass off as a Velaryon since Laenor (before leaving) claimed that his children got Rhaenys' Baratheon genes instead of the Velaryon genes. Married Princess Rhaena Targaryen. In this story Rhaenys will have the Baratheon hair as she should have had.
Another branch timeline could see him as King of the Seven Kingdoms if Rhaenyra would be forced to disinherit Jacaerys for marrying Sara Snow instead of Baela. Corlys and Rhaenys would be fuming at the betrayal and Rhaenyra would be adviced to please them.
Hints of lucemond: Aemond/Fem!Aemond would be incredibly jealous since holy crap lucerys is a full course meal with a bonus Driftmark or literally the Seven Kingdoms and would regret choosing 4th child Floris/Male!Floris Baratheon over his/her nephew when he/she had the chance.

The Doom in Our Blood Comes Back character portrait - Day N 9 Alyn the Adventurer Lord Alyn Velaryon, born Alyn of Hull, when this story starts, is Lord of the Tides, Master of Driftmark, and head of House Velaryon; he's one of the side characters of this story and one of the most recurring. His brother is Ser Addam Velaryon, a member of the Queen's Guard and sword shield of Princess Rhaena Targaryen . Born on Hull, a little town situated on the island of Driftmark, Alyn and his brother are the sons of Merilda, the young daughter of a shipbuilder. At the age of four, he and his brother were recognized by Lord Corlys as his only grandchildren and were sent to Dragonstone to be tried as squires under the protection of Prince Daemon; there Alyn met the five princes, children of the Queen, becoming their friend. During the Civil War, the Velaryons fought with the Blacks: while he didn't play an important role in the war as his brother, Addam participated in the capture of Oldtown and the downfall of House Hightower, which made him gain the gratitude of the Queen.  Although Lord Corlys personally confirmed that the two young men were children of his deceased son, who died of poisoning, Addam and Alyn's origins remained a matter of dispute among historians for years. Due to Laenor's known sexual preference for men, many started to believe that the two boys - who then became first in order of succession to the title of Lord - were in reality fathered by Laenor's father, Lord Corlys Velaryon, who without direct heirs, decided to use the name of his late son in order to recognize his only male offspring, without offending his fiery-tempered wife, Princess Rhaenys Targaryen. However, the Sea Snake always denied such rumours and even on his deathbed he continued to perjure himself that Addam and Alyn were absolutely Leanor's children and not his; still, those doubts never faded and continued to circulate even in the following years. Alyn became Lord at the age of seventeen when during the year 132 AC, Lord Corlys and Princess Rhaenys died of a mysterious silliness that he brought during his last voyage in Essos; he will then became Master of Ships in 142 AC after he returned from a long and successful voyage over the Jade Sea from where he brought some important treasures. In the same year, after being rejected by Baela, he will marry the youngest legitimate daughter of Lysario Rogare, Lada, with whom he will have three children, Leanor, Marilda and Corlys Velaryon: outside of them, however, Alyn will have many other bastard children by other women through the years. - from the wiki

The Lord of the Tides made a gift of his elephant to King Aegon III as he took his leave of King’s Landing. Returning to Hull to gather his fleet and take on provisions for the long journey [against Red Kraken], he said his farewells to his wife, the Lady Baela, who sent him on his way with a kiss, and the news that she was with child. “Name him Corlys, after my grandsire,” Lord Alyn told her. “One day he may sit the Iron Throne.” Baela laughed at that. “I will name her Laena, after my mother. One day she may ride a dragon.”
