barbenheimer day predictions:

- no one will recognize my shirt, though I’m really hoping at least one person gets it and says something

- it is not out of the realm of possibility that I will like Oppenheimer better. For one thing, Nolan is more of a known quantity for me, I haven’t watched much of Gerwig’s stuff. For another, I think I have clearer objectives for enjoyment with Oppenheimer: if the effects and the score even approach Interstellar, I think I’ll have a good time. Barbie is a little more up in the air. I’m really not sure what to expect. And for another I just like slowburn dramas better in general lol, so yeah I expect to come out having liked Oppenheimer better but I’m ready and willing to be wrong!

- this is not about the day itself but yeah I know EXACTLY how this discourse is going to play out haha, which is why I’m going to just ignore most of it and enjoy my day at the cinema

- I don’t think the one plot spoiler thing about Barbie I saw will be true, but also I wouldn’t be that surprised if it is.

As someone who works at a movie theater I feel the need to remind people to please please please be courteous to movie theater staffs this weekend. There’s hasn’t been a double release of this nature since 2008 and theater staff are Going to be overwhelmed. Just show basic human decency please. Clean out your cup holders, throw your trash away, be patient at the box office and concessions, don’t be disruptive during the movie. We are trying our best but also most of us are working much longer shifts than usual with a lot less employees than usual and it’s a very thankless job even on the deadest of days. Just be nice please

jerry goes to see oppenheimer (and doesn't like it)

elaine goes to see both (first barbie, then oppenheimer)

george says he bought tickets for oppenheimer, but in reality he goes to see barbie in secret (and he meets an ex in the cinema)

kramer also goes to see both. first oppenheimer, because he thinks he is going to like it better, and then barbie. turns out, barbie fascinates him, so he and newman (who went to see the movies with him) start a fan club. they try to convince jerry to watch barbie but they can't (jerry is like all this barbenheimer thing is fool yada yada yada because he is boring). then george's ex from the cinema meets kramer and newman, and they are like well you know we can't convince george to watch it, and she says "oh but he went to the movies we were sitting right next to each other in the cinema" and kramer and newman somehow make george to confess he watched barbie (in front of -- well, basically everyone) and he (as traditionally do) ends up screaming YES I WATCHED IT AND I LOVED IT SO WHAT so the women of the fan club (it turned out they were all george's exes) say you know we are going to see oppenheimer for cillian murphy. seeing this, they convince jerry to watch barbie and he, kramer, george and newman rent it and watch it in jerry's apartment. the episode ends with elaine entering jerry's apartment and seeing the four men crying from the ending of the movie. she says (just to annoy them, but she wouldn't think that way) you know, i liked oppenheimer more. they turn to see her with a look full of anger. the image freezes. we get a jerry seinfeld monologue about ryan gosling's sex appeal.
