Vito having such close relationships with Alma and Betty that he made Alma his second-in-command and Betty his personal banker in M3.
Vito "I lost all of my family so I'm making my own found family, these two women are basically my daughters" Scaletta.
He used to invite them over and cook for them but after they both truthfully gave their reviews after picking at their plates and stealing side glances, he now just has some of his men cook. Vito does take pride in how well he can make some strawberry lemonade though and has one to two pitchers ready at any given time.
Alma and Vito share some hand-rolled cigars with glasses of rum every time they meet up. They talk about simple things, everyday things that take their minds off of business. She tells him updates about her grandmother and he tells her the new hobbies he has tried and given up on, just to adopt others. They talk about anti-communism politics. And by "talk" I mean just make fun of Communist leaders, in an immature type of way. These two also have a weird bond over UFO sightings and whenever a new sighting is released, they instantly call each other and discuss theories.
Vito and Betty like to get together to do some light gambling with Betty's immediate family. Her kids like to untie Vito's shoes under the table, try on his hat and attempt to impersonate him the best they can, and (way more often than Betty likes) they whisper to each other the phrases that get both Vito and them into trouble. And when it starts to get late and he better get back, the kids hang onto him like they were all stuck together with velcro. Betty always grows hesitant to put away the chips and cards when everyone is gone/has been put to bed.
Betty (who I'm guessing is somewhat of a Louisiana Creole ethnicity because of her nickname for Lincoln being "Cher," a Louisiana Creole term of endearment) has picked up on some Italian from Vito, and Vito has picked up on some of her French. Mirroring this, Alma now knows some Italian and uses it to overhear some of the sketchier men of the Italian mob. Vito suddenly knows every Spanish curse/phrase in the book.
On holidays, all of them get together at Betty's place. Alma helps with the meat-related parts of the big dinners while Betty handles the rest. Vito is strictly forbidden to even enter the kitchen unless it's an emergency. He entertains the kids mostly. He tells them stories about what it's like to fly from his experience as a paratrooper, then lifts them up as high into the air as he can and makes whooshing sounds. Or he simply builds things with them and indulges in their rants about anything and everything that pop into their heads.

Yoo Kyle, do/did you actually like Zoey?
Yo Autumn,
Well, depends what kind of ‘like’ you’re talkin’ about, if you know what I’m saying? Haha, anyways, if you’re talking in the ‘friend’ way, yes I did like Zoey, she was always a good friend and one that would be really active on the group chat.
She’s most likely the reason why our friend group survived for this long lol, and Chicks & Kicks gc feels dead without her. Though she was also very tolerable and didn’t bother us too much.
But I’d never like her in that way. I’m not the kinda guy that snatches my bro's girl. I’ve got a moral code.. and a girlfriend.

"Poor Little Rich Girl" v 3
I have already gone over some details on the revised story made in pretty quick order in the 1950s -- a number of things pointed out on shifting interactions with Betty and Veronica and clear shifts on dress relating to the code. This 1970s Little Archie version of the story -- I actually do not know the date as comics dot org refers to a 1980 digest and digests at the time were not publishing new material -- follows very closely -- frequently panel by panel -- the original, with only one slight plot insertion that moves a few panels about.
The narrative premises become flawed. Sure, they easily move from Veronica driving a fancy new car and Veronica gloating about being about being able to shine to get it on to simply getting chauffeured in a limo, and they can make a quick shopping location change so to drop a reference to "seen on no one else" / "hardly seen on you" in buying a bikini, but I am still stuck on this --
The editorial move from Bolling to Dexter Taylor in the mid 60s draws the characters toward their teenaged counterparts. There are permutations on childhood lovesickness that can be done here -- one story included in an Art Spiegelman and Francoise Mouly edited anthology of kids comics, despite the fact that Spiegelman hates this stuff -- from The Comics Journal # 302:
And the question -- what is "dating" with elementary school kids?
Here is the one added bit for the Littles and more modern 70s luxury:
After that we get back to the cloying "poor in spirit" of distant parents and a "Wha--?" from Jughead and Archie.
