Mass Ask #1 ✨

Okay, so I saw an artist tackle some of their asks like this and I thought it was the most genius thing ever so now I shall also tackle my asks like this so that I don't clog my blog and ya'lls timelines. Also, some of these asks are old as fuq, so my apologies to everyone I haven’t answered since February 😭

There's a possibility that some won't see their asks get answered (bc these are screenshots and they won't get notified that I answered) BUT I think this is the most efficient way to try to get to everyone! So without further adieu, here's round one of my mass ask answersss!

Yes!! Though admittedly I'm still working on the fics I currently have on the list. But I'm always open for new fics!! Even if the list gets exponentially long, there will come a day where I will read it. Even if it takes me years-- I will read it. So yes, send them my way! The most challenging Madrigaaal-- I think Pepa and Isa are both the hardest for me to nail. Their faces are like those perfect "princess-shaped" faces and I've always struggled with that. The easiest? It's between Antonio and Bruno! I'd only say Bruno because I've drawn him like 1000000 times at this point lmao his face is permanently locked into my brain chamber 😵‍💫

I grew up watching a BUNCH of animated shows, movies, reading comics, scouring deviantart etc. I think a combination of all of that inspired me to draw and never stop! As far as art style, I take inspiration from a looot of different artists. To name a few big ones, I really love Genndy Tartakovsky, Chris Reccardi (rest in peace 💕), Bruce W. Smith, Craig McCracken, Jin Kim, Shiyoon Kim, Nico Marlet, Thurop Van Orman, Brittany Myers, Jamie Hewlet— okay this wasn’t a few LOL but yes there’s loads more but I pull the most from these wonderful artists! ✨ @its-actually-ash

i want to say that i know which artists have had a big influence on my art, but sometimes it can be hard to tell. a lot of times i see an art style that i find extremely appealing and get this desire to draw just like that or similarly, but i never actually do anything about that. still, i guess seeing them is enough of an inspiration kick for me, even if they're never the cause for my art's change. some artworks and artists off the top of my head below that i always go back to...

mike mignola, naoki urasawa, bruce timm, artist from twitter im-sorry-i-forgor, hergé, hayao miyazaki, genndy tartakovsky, adam musa, another artist from twitter im-sorry-i-forgor, and louie zong. there's so many more artworks i have in my insp folder... if i weren't so lazy i'd have sorted them by creators augh, sucks not knowing who drew what o<-<

i wonder if the influence some of these've had on me is visible in my art? i definitely think of mignola when drawing hands with square fingers, or adding tiny lines in random places, musa when drawing small oval eyes, tartakovsky when drawing stylized sharp and shapey looking bodies, and more recently urasawa when drawing faces!!!

ohh thank you so much!! hi!! i've put a few of my artistic inspirations under the cut.

jhonen vasquez is probably my #1 and always has been and will be forever. thematically, energetically, style-wise, compositionally... linewidths. everything about it. i read jthm at a very very young age and it did something to my brain i think.

(dug out my old/tattered copy of jthm to take these pics lol)

superjail. i just love superjail i love the way it looks + my wife is in here. i am just consistently enchanted by how there is no consistent modeling system and everything is just uber rubberhose and whimsical. and my god. just fucking look at the warden. christ. I have watched this show one million times since 2011.

andrew hussie i think is pretty obvious. i genuinely love the fluidity of his art and his colors. hs^2 art fails to capture a lot of this i think (no offense) and it's why I'm not really a fan of how it looks and a large part of why I'll never read it.

simon hanselmann has always been a big one... they make the megg, mogg and owl series which is about a drug addicted witch. will not link their stuff but it is good.

paul klee, swiss-german artist who utilized a lot of bright colours and geometric shapes... transfixed always going through his stuff.

and then off the top of my head some others... genndy tartakovsky, bruce timm, bill watterson. egon schiele. German expressionism in general. likely more but these are the main ones I think.

who is/are your comfort character(s)?

Genji and Mercy for a long time--I'd also argue my OC's are very much comfort characters for me. Also I just got them but Copernicus and all of the warriors from Unicorn: Warriors Eternal make my brain go brrrrr. It's like I had a chip installed in my brain at age 7 that activates and makes me go completely feral any time Genndy Tartakovsky makes a show.

34. is there a song you know every word to by heart?

I know a lot of songs by heart, actually! I have pretty crazy memorization skills (though I can't remember people's names for beans though. Anyway the first song that came to mind for me was "Thunder Road" by Bruce Springsteen.

What could've been: Check this sweet Alex Ross art for a Paul Dini-helmed "Shazam/Captain Marvel" cartoon, unsuccessfully pitched to Cartoon Network in 1999. Ross' design approach would've mashed the stylings of Bruce Timm and Genndy Tartakovsky.

Who should be the new producer of Wander Over Yonder if it gets one more season?

Well, as we already know, Craig McCracken (I’m not tagging him because he stopped using Tumblr years ago) still works for Netflix, as evidenced by the comments stating that he pitched some projects to the company, but that’s not to say Wander’s eventual return cannot happen. The only obstacle in our way is the business mindset of Disney’s higher ups and nothing more.

If Genndy Tartakovsky’s involvement in Primal and Hotel Transylvania 4: Transformania (two projects from two entirely different companies) has taught me anything, it’s strictly a matter of how much one can contribute to something. Assuming Craig is already satisfied with the plans for S3, anyone with a vast knowledge of those plans other than him would make a good producer. They’d have to have been part of the WOY crew, though.

I have two in mind: writer Francisco Angones (@suspendersofdisbelief) and Dave Thomas (@owner-of-wendys). The former is the one who provided a boatload of S3-related hints during SaveWOY’s early days and has plenty of producer experience from the revamped DuckTales. The latter not only directed and did storyboards, but he was the producer for WOY’s second season (If I recall, Craig’s wife Lauren was one for the first season) and also gave some tidbits regarding S3.

There’s still a catch: anyone who’s ever worked on WOY would still have to be working at DTVA, and we already know many of them “MOVED ON” (the two words some of us dread when a show is canceled and left incomplete). Also, remember when The Powerpuff Girls was rebooted without Craig’s consent? We wouldn’t want WOY’s return to be a repeat of that, would we? Still, The Proud Family did get its eventual revival on Disney+ with Bruce W. Smith at the helm after so many years, so who’s to say Craig wouldn’t be more than happy to give WOY its real conclusion if Disney gave him the chance? Since some of WOY’s voice artists are over 60 years of age and there’s no telling how much longer they have to live, time is of the essence, IMHO.

Like I said, the business mindset of the higher ups is our only obstacle.

My art style is inspired by the movies and cartoons from my childhood to the present day. There are way too many to list but if I had to boil it down, my artwork is a hybrid of Laika Studios, Cartoon Saloon, Genndy Tartakovsky, Bruce Timm, and The Flying Bark Studios. With just a touch of Titmouse and Studio La Chachette.

Honestly on’t have definitely specified who my truly favorites animators on this lists? Most are creators animators of 2010s and few are my childhood shows really don’t have much favorite animators, but have influenced their shows and other works they did. Dig and have interesting in animation industry like @frederator-studios, @titmousecartoons-blog, @nickanimation, @disneyanimation or @cartoonnetwork mostly start off internship then learn about animation both good, bad and ugly. Not very good artists but honestly barely draw simple stick figure (so can’t be storyboard artists and animator) but can be a writer and maybe be director/producer/voice actor but for now this are my favorite animators (for now) so be i updates this lists along with writer’s and voice actors
