some thoughts on dave lalonde

so note this isn’t a kidswap au, just a strilonde guardian swap au; a plausible au wherein dave’s meteor(s) are set to land in upstate new york and rose’s in houston tx where they are discovered by mom lalonde and bro strider respectively. so it’s not even really an “alternative universe” so much as “alternative circumstance” because that’s literally all that changes

their interests aren’t swapped; their interests are a natural result of a mix of what they were always predisposed towards (we can look at their post-scratch versions for constants) combined with their living environment. rose strider is still gothy and writes, knits, and has an interest in the zoologically dubious. perhaps rose might handcraft some delirious puppets for her brother-slash-ectofather’s enterprise as a “gift” in one-upmanship. probably has good rapport with the crows that fly into her ironic knockoff disney-princess themed bedroom (see the post i linked above) and get them to fuck with bro passively in exchange for peanuts. she also keeps all the things the crows gift her, pickpocketed shiny things and whatnot

dave lalonde is still the knight of time, still makes sbahj, likes photography, still loves cooking up unbelievably ill jams, still into post-ironic expression, however he’s not irony-poisoned by bro so he’s more comfortable being genuine. his interest in dead things and paleontology comes more to a forefront because of mom’s predilection towards science and genuine encouragement from her. after all she’s made many a mutant kitten herself

i feel like since dave fell to earth with maplehoof, crushing the pony instantly on impact, instead of using its hide to make a bib like a fucking weirdo, mom would paradox clone maplehoof. so dave has a pet pony with a ribbon and little pink heart on it. a knight needs a loyal steed. and hes been attached to maplehoof since his literal first few minutes of existing. so maplehoof wouldnt be bought anywhere, it would originate from itself

i mean he’s seen with the pony at his side in the post-scratch universe so…..

would make sense if the pony mom gifted to rose in canon was more of an involved thing with dave in this circumstance

the only issue is maplehoof cant become his sprite, otherwise that would break the timeloop (they need to come unaltered to earth with dave on the meteor in the first place during the reckoning). also [S] Ride with dave and the scarf would absolutely be a thing at some point

i was thinking maybe instead of a crow, since they aren’t as “everywhere” in upstate new york as they are in that high rise in texas, dave has something more prehistoric put into a sprite. like a parave theropod. can you imagine parave davesprite. maybe an archaeopteryx or something

i guess mom would indulge in a living museum/zoo for “domesticated” ancient organisms all jurassic parked like a weird ongoing experiment but the ectobiology wouldnt be perfect especially because the dna wouldnt be able to be fully read from fossils and specimens. i feel like jurassic park should be dave lalonde’s sort of in-universe media reference the way con air was with john and putting the bunny back in the box. like his friends would just rip on him for living out jurassic park in an imperfect domestic way

and he accidentally kills it through some fetch modus shenanigans. dave still has the bladekind strife specibus but not because he does rooftop battles but because swords are unironically cool, and flings it out the window by accident and it strikes one of the parave theropods in the enclosed zoo below outside his window and dave feels kinda bad

when jade sees it as his server player shes like “oh nooooo :(“ and dave is like “oh god no dont put that in the seizure kernel while i take a piss in one of the many fancy bathrooms this household has”

Royal/Rebel Swap au part 1/7

So I'm going to split this into parts because it's a lot. I'll be splitting it akin to the doll releases (I will pair Ramona and Cerise together in the same section though) so this part will cover Apple Briar Madeline and Raven.

So the way I interpret this AU I don't want to fundamentally change too much about the character's actions and personality. Just what circumstances would convince them to become Rebel/Royal (at least at first).

Apple:

She's a Rebel mostly because the event is unnecessary and dangerous. She is a royal by birthright, not by chance. Her fairytale is ceremony. Also with the event of the Wonderland takeover by the Evil Queen, Apple is convinced that Raven will be worse whether she intends to or not. She does not want to be unconscious for who knows how long to give Raven or any other enterprising villain the chance to hurt her kingdom.

However that doesn't mean she is "nice" about it. She remains the same type of anxious you see early on in the story. As well an unwittingly condensing which most fairytales tolerate. However Apple pleading with Raven to not poison her wouldn't sound out of character for the actor of Snow White and many believe she is playing a part no matter what types of arguments she gives.

Raven:

Royal because her mom's conditioning works just a smidge better. Now to be clear she still hates her mom, she just doesn't have the words for it. She understands what her role is in the story and intends to do just that and no more. The only evil spell she will try to learn is the poison apple spell and she will try to make it as painless as humanly possible. Through her mom, she learns a warped version of what is good and what is bad, but because her mom very bluntly names the difference she can easily recognize what most of the outside world follows. Except for what love means, people tend to stretch that word a lot in either case. All she knows is that whatever love she recognizes doesn't make her happy. So she often says she doesn't like a lot of things when really she means the opposite.

This adds to the miscommunication and she is perceived as surly and bitter and adequately evil. (This is probably what Lizzie goes through tbh). She wants to learn to be a better queen for both her sake and the surrounding kingdoms, but through her mom, she is convinced she has to temporarily knock out Apple White to make true headway. (Apple's personality isn't easy for Raven to talk to anyhow) To try and prove herself a good queen she tries to undo the extraneous curses on Wonderland (in my head this take more than just saying the curse backwards/coming up with a well said sentence). Which she is allowed to do because that's just trimming the weeds.

Briar:

Rebel-> Royal

Briar recognizes much earlier on that she isn't going have the chance to live a proper adulthood because she'll be in and out of unconscious for a 100 years at a time with 16-25 years of actually being awake before falling asleep again. And that's not counting her narcolepsy.

Also I use the term Royal in this case very loosely I imagine she will not apply the logic of everyone should follow their Destiny when she switches more so that with the adequate changes to her original tale she'll find something of her fairytale heritage she's more willing to act upon and thus become Royal (which is probably just an extension of Rebellion. This logic will likely apply for all the Rebel-> Royal switches).

She is desperate to escape this enchanted sleep so she is often found trying to negotiate with Faybelle/studying in her own time to find out how to break this curse but her kingdom is a 100 years behind so it would take a while to catch up to whatever demand Faybelle proposes. (I'd like to imagine that when the dark fairy was uninvited to the birthday of Sleeping Beauty there was a political proposal that the kingdom was rejecting and making a large public show of it).

Madeline:

This one is difficult because Maddie is functionally a Royal already. As I've typed that out that should make it easy yes? No. To keep her wacky charm when she picks a side I think she would be invested trying to tell her second parent's story. She still loves her dad to pieces but telling the same exact tale everyone expects of her bores her to bits. She can argue she's technically following the rules.

Now that my exams are over, I am! And it's predictably long and rambling, so there's a quick summation at the very end.

Anyway, the concept for me is driven by two different gripes with US modernizations of P&P.

The first thing I'm grumpy about is how, although Austen famously prioritizes the experiences and perspectives of her female characters over the male ones, queer US modernizations (whether fic or adaptation) seem to skew strongly towards queer male experience. Individually, that's okay, but as a trend ... I do find it aggravating that m/m predominates so much over f/f even with an author as preoccupied with female experience as Austen. Lesbian Darcy/bi Elizabeth rights!

My second issue is with the ... not universal, but not-that-unusual treatment of modern US American Darcy as conservative or at least old-fashioned in the context of 2022 (or 2015 or whatever—I think it's a bad take regardless, though particularly egregious now). This is generally a way of "updating" his snobbery, but ... the original character's positions are fairly progressive for his time and circumstances, if with a blind spot about socioeconomics, and his tastes are modern.

Funnily enough, that is probably the easiest thing to translate into a modern US setting despite many other cultural differences, because "fairly progressive with a blind spot about socioeconomics" is THE stereotype of US liberals and especially "coastal elites." And relatedly, I think the reluctance to update the direct political power of families like the Darcys and Fitzwilliams as ... direct political power is both an understandable avoidance of a minefield but also kind of toothless. The closest US analogue to a Whig earl in the House of Lords isn't some random businessman, it's a senator from a Democratic political dynasty.

Also, I dislike Pemberley-as-corporate-enterprise on general principle. I much prefer things like Darcy's open-to-the-public art collection to be represented by an art gallery rather than the visual equivalent of elevator music.

So. In the modern adaptation of my dreams, Elizabeth's family comes from a western red state, where they've managed to hang onto a small family farm thanks to the comparatively low cost of living—but that's rising thanks to rich people bringing up prices. Enter Bingley with his fortune in trade micro-chips or something (truly the nicest Silicon Valley bro to ever bro). The Darcy character is Bingley's college BFF, who is clearly wealthy because a) she exudes it, b) Bingley's sisters "mention" it, and c) she owns a good-sized house in Seattle and runs a prestigious art gallery there. Nobody realizes she's one of those Fitzwilliams until later, however.

The easiest way to convert Darcy's names to a modern US woman's is simply to swap them to Darcy Fitzwilliam. That said, I like to give Darcy a pretentious first name and amuse myself by calling modern f!Darcy Narcissa—both because of her arrogance and because Fitzwilliam is the only person who can call her "Narcy" and live.

I don't think the exact initial insult would make a lot of sense translated literally, but there definitely is one, and Elizabeth basically sees Narcissa as a cross between "rich artsy type with no concept of normal life" and "the Seattle chill given human form." Narcissa, meanwhile, is the sort of US liberal who holds genuinely progressive positions—some more so than Elizabeth, in fact—and thinks that The Community should do everything within their power for LGBT+ people in hostile environments, but also doesn't get why they don't just ... move.

There is also definitely a (male) Wickham whom Elizabeth is regrettably fooled by.

I think the tension between Mrs Bennet and Elizabeth is complicated by a few things. I definitely see Mrs Bennet as a pushy where-are-my-grandkids type, and as someone who can be fairly indifferent about her less-favored children's personal happiness but a total helicopter mom about their life/career decisions, which clashes badly with Elizabeth's easy-going but very independent personality. I also suspect that Mrs Bennet is a non-voter because, while she's not aggressively bigoted, she just doesn't care that much and insofar as she does, it's all about the parasocial relationships. Elizabeth can't ever talk to her about her life (or most things) without it becoming all about Mrs Bennet's feelings, so she doesn't bother.

Mr Bennet is pretty much his familiar self—he resents his wife and is openly contemptuous towards her (I imagine there's some reason that Mrs Bennet can't work or isn't about to). He's indifferent to his younger children, but fond of Jane, loves Elizabeth in his way, and has supported the last two through some tough spots. At the same time, he's never bothered to save enough to pay off the mortgage or put any of his children through college, so the girls' loans are a point of legitimate frustration for Mrs Bennet (though her spending is a significant part of the reason they couldn't do more, since "keeping up with the Joneses" isn't exactly a FAFSA income deduction category).

I have some other ideas, but those are the basic ones!

TL;DR—lesbian Darcy/Elizabeth with political undercurrents, but none of them are Republicans. The Darcy character in particular is a smart, socially progressive (but rich and out of touch) artsy Seattle lesbian from a Kennedy-style Democratic dynasty. Elizabeth, meanwhile, is chill and personable, bi, and very independent (to the dismay of her wannabe-helicopter mother).

Takeshi walks over and squats in front of him.

"Hi," he says with a friendly smile, intrigued by this sudden intrusion. He didn't hear the door open, and his dad hadn't mentioned any guests, much less one as young as this little guy. How did he get in here?

"Ciaossu! My name is Reborn. I'm a hitman, and I'm going to train you to be a mafia boss." His voice is squeaky, and his curls bounce adorably as he tilts his head to look expectantly at Takeshi. But his eyes are serious, and there's an air of maturity about him that prevents Takeshi from brushing this off as a child's whimsy.

This baby might not be a baby, haha.

Anyway, the mafia, huh? Isn't that, like, the overseas version of the yakuza? They get cool tattoos and snazzy suits and guns and stuff, too, yeah? He's not too keen on scamming old ladies out of their savings or anything like that, but there's all kinds of exciting drama and blood pumping battles in the movies. He doesn't altogether dislike the idea.

The only thing he'd ever been remotely interested in was baseball anyway, and Namimori High School doesn't have a team. They disbanded a few years ago, well before he enrolled, and Takeshi's not the kind of enterprising individual to rally together enough members to create a new one. He was bored enough going straight home everyday that he was considering trying out another sport, but this?

This might just scratch that itch.

Of course then he would become a criminal, and his nascent dream of being a pro baseball player would fly right out the window…

Takeshi thinks about it for 0.2 seconds before his inclination to choose the most interesting route in any given situation perks its head up and takes control.

i was doodling Q to get a feel of a more "inhuman" shape and accidently invented an AU

mostly a species swap with no major changes to their respective series plots.

"Q" odo Was a Member of the continuim, got kicked out for meddling in bajoran affairs so much and was turned into one just for the hell of it. Hes still named Odo thanks to some cardassian, but whatever its fine. over the course of the story he regains his powers and eventually gets to reenter the continuim

Changeling Q isnt too much different personality wise. he certainly sees himself as above solids, but has no fascist nature. unlike the other being in the dominion, Q would rather befriend and socialise with solids. he voluntarily left the great link and drifted around the galaxy before latching onto the enterprise and pops in time to time to cause a little chaos.

Then Technoblade met a necromancer named Dream, who dragged the both of them to therapy and taught them about the magic of friendship along the way. Oh, and some actual magic too.

Philza is closed-off, hardened from centuries without aging while watching his friends turn to dust, taking jobs under the moniker Angel of Death to try and feel something again.

Technoblade is a brute of a piglin with more scars than unbroken skin and a penchant for uncovering trouble, hot on the trail of… something. He’s exactly the sort of routine job that should consume a few weeks of Phil’s endless time, before he’s forced to find something else to waste away doing.

(Such a shame, then, that the Angel of Death should meet his match.)

Or: A fanfiction in which an elaborate AU is crafted as an excuse to focus entirely on Technoblade and Philza's relationship.

Only has Emerald duo and Phil/Kristin tagged so I'm guessing it's just them!

Close! Technically speaking, Neon's the one who's swapped with Nova! In this AU, he's a ~scientist gone mad~ in his attempts to recreate life from stars. 1010 are the results of that! (they have,,.,.,. Significant Lore, like why challenger/zim's all scarred up, but enterprise/rin is the most fleshed out)

I just haven't drawn Neon or Nova themselves yet.

All the characters shown have appeared in the episode (duh!) but positions, on top of the names of two, aren't strictly canon.

There is no official motto for the ISS Enterprise. I decided to modify the classic intro into one that would fit for the Empire.

The tv show uses the old Stardate method. No specific stardate is offered, besides the year.

In some renderings, the Terran Empire emblem is added on the hull. On the I.S.S Enterprise, as we see it in both the original and the CGI-remade episode, the emblem is missing. I decided to stick with the canon.

bruce thomas wayne is highly influenced by the batman (2022) with taking inspiration and some lore from the joker (2019). since this film is crime noir heavy so is bruce , he reads more like a gothic character and is going through heavy PSTD. my bruce sadly is not lifted from comics nor is steeped in any other batman universe. along with being reeves based i have also incorporated my own headcanons and created my own arcs which can be read above! (that being said i am open to AUS). bruce is 31 and is 6′6 6′8 with the boots. he enjoys writing and has natural talent in drawing and obviously criminal forensics. he is STILL learning and of course he is OBSESSED with technology. his IQ borders genius but since his tragic loss he is his own worst enemy.

Soooo. I recently have a new favorite cookie…roguefort cookie. And umm can i know more about him in your aus.

Yeah sure I can ramble about them for a hot minute

Okay so I’m still roughing out their story but general idea I have is roguefort in civilian mode (who I will be calling roguefort from now on) is friends with almond, who doesn’t know they are also phantom blue, who he has a more complicated relationship with. It’s more like frenemies or like kinda work friends? Like he still wants to arrest them but won’t be too torn up if they escape again, there’d worse criminals to be out on the street you know?

Walnut also figured out roguefort is phantom blue but doesn’t tell dad because at that point she’s friends with roguefort and knows they aren’t a bad person, so she wants them to tell dad themselves.

Idk how that goes down atm.

Then there’s the roguefort from what I call the neon hellscape timeline aka the hidden timeline aka twizzlys home base aka where TimeWrender and the morality swap gang are. They are in that timeline as uhhh I think the ides I had was they run a criminal enterprise or are just a very famous criminal and do more then thefts, plus they got a corrupt cop working for them (aka the almond of this timeline) they’re friends with moldy and also TimeWrender. They’ve worked together before becsuee rogueforts always seem to get involved in timetravel

Then there’s the dragon swap roguefort who is a fluffy noodle dragon! They’re a dragon in hiding living in the city, but they can use illusion magic to appear human so it’s fine. Phantom blue looks more like a dragon cookie though. So it makes the whole thing which roguefort being phantom blue a bit more dramatic? I mean sure they’re a armless dragon but still a dragon

Oh! There’s the persuit of lost time arc too, that’s a wip. But the ides I got is roguefort makes a deal with timekeeper to work for the tbd for a bit in. Exchange for their heirloom time piece. Hyjinx ensue
