What makes this set so special is the fact that the first prototype was created by hand by Yoshie Hayashi, an animator who started working at Studio Ghibli in 2009 and has been involved in all its feature-length anime films since 2010’s Arrietty.

While working on The Boy and the Heron as a video inspection assistant, Hayashi wondered what some of the characters would look like if she made them three-dimensional. Having majored in plastic arts during her student days, Hayashi experimented by crafting the character of Kiriko into a doll, which gave birth to this series. 

The final product retains the warmth of a handmade design, despite the character’s frown.

This Friday we'll have another installment of the "For" series (previous installments: For Pleasure and For Her) with Joel Miller and his baby mama. This one is a pit stop on the road out west, where Joel, reader, Ellie, and little baby Caroline stumbling across an abandoned store where they take shelter and look for supplies.

And, as always, there are big feelings as well as a little bit of smut.

When he reaches for you you're helpless but to take the invitation, curling against his side so that the three of you are a little pile of cuddles on the ground beside the car. "Thank you for her." Your voice is just as quiet as his is, hushed in the intimacy of the moment. "She's the best thing that ever happened to me."

“It was distinctly my pleasure.” He jokes quietly, chuckling. “I- will keep both of you safe.” He promises again. “On my life.”

"You're not tied to us, Joel. You know that." The deal has been fairly clean cut. Once you get to Jackson, you're going to find your family and set up house again in the new community, so that Caroline can be raised safely if safety is at all possible. What Joel needs to do or not do with Ellie is his own business, and you've never had the guts to ask him what he planned on doing after that was over. Whether or not he would want to come back to make a life with his daughter. With you. "It's always up to you what you want to do."

He frowns and shakes his head. “I am tied to you.” He insists. “This is my daughter and you….” He breaks off. “You…are…important.” He has a fucking hard time admitting his emotions but his eyes are soft and pleading with you to understand. More expressive than his face could ever be." You're important to me, too." That is the very least of it, but it's the most you can manage without grappling a whole lot with emotions that you have barely sorted through. "And I'm not saying that I don't want you to be with us." It is, honestly, the biggest thing that you do want. But you know that you're talking about something big and you have absolutely no reason to believe that he's there yet. "But I don't want you to feel forced. That's all I'm saying."
