[Insight]: 無 Me-Me Worthy 🎼
(NPC Talk) *Imitates Captain's voice hysterically, "I'm a cool pirate with a finger-bang attack, it's over for you Sol! ARRrrrrgggh." (NPC Talk) *Imitates Sol's voice poorly, "...Bro, but I'm a cool pirate too and like being fingered, it's time... I came out." "Bro..." "Bro..." ~ "Me-Me sure is better than us both. I can't believe how pretty she is, and taller, we should give her all our gil and stop being cheap and being stoopid meanies calling her small, so she wouldn't have to turn us into dolls."

once again thinking about the worldbuilding in the riordanverse of "names are power" / "belief is power."
The Tri were only able to become immortal through convincing enough people to worship them that it became true. Monsters and immortals only exist through continued belief, and if enough people believe that they're dead or gone then it becomes true, like Pan. Their varied forms exist and manifest as they're believed in and called upon. Names call attention and epithets summon aspects. They're acknowledgement. Belief. Putting a name to a concept creates it as an individual.
And that's so fascinating when you start applying it to demigods. How much of their abilities are based on belief in themselves, in expectations of each other, in their parents' expectations of them? We've seen mortal figures who became immortal in some form or another because they were remembered. Even the lares - ancestral house gods, who persist because they're remembered. They have a legacy.
At what point does a demigod achieve that status? Rumors and whispers about them so persistent that they slowly become true. "I heard that Jason Grace is the son of two gods, does that make him a god?" "I heard Percy Jackson defeated a titan single-handedly. That he can create hurricanes without breaking a sweat. That he can control blood." After awhile, after enough rumors, does it become impossible to tell where they end and the legends begin? Isn't that what being a demigod is; half-legend?

Something has been rummaging around in my brain, maybe it'll go away when I put it into words... I have no idea if this all has been pointed out before.
Good Omens S2 felt wrong from the first minute on. Not wrong as in bad, badly written or wrong wrong, just. Off. People who died in S1 are alive again, completely unaware of what happened to them and who they were before Armageddon't, like Maggie and Nina. Yes, it could be a coincidence that they were recast, and it could be because they are brilliant actresses, I completely agree. But I get a feeling that even if this was done without any specific intention, it must have felt right to Mr. Gaiman and the great people working on the show.
Plus, Gabriel-as-Jim says a line that stuck with me:
Gabriel: I’m me. I just don’t know who ‘me’ is. Aziraphale: I see. Gabriel: But you know me. You recognize me. Aziraphale: Well, I know someone who looks like you. Gabriel: That’s probably me then. I think that’s one of the main ways you can tell.
I don't think this is a coincidence. And the fact that neither Crowley nor Aziraphale recognize Nina and Maggie as people they have met before Armageddon't, makes it all the more eerie.
I think this whole memory wipe business is more important than we think; and this is going to be more meta now, but bear with me; because who needs a book of life when all the memories of a person and their own memory are gone? If there's not a trace of a memory left about you, did you ever exist in the first place? The answer is yes! Because you made an impact on life itself around you that is too complicated to be erased. Maggie and Nina brought about Armageddon't the way it happened because of the baby swap gone wrong. They might not remember it, nobody else was there and able to remember it, but it happened. And it changed the course of history.
But (here it is, you knew it was coming) if no one remembers it, you could tell them anything had happened. If you are the only one who remembers, you can tell your own version of the story, and the others will believe you. They have no other choice, they don't even know that there has been a choice, another version of this.
S2 boils down to this for me: erasing somebody with the book of life, as if they had never existed is way too complicated and dangerous because you couldn't possibly foresee what other parts of the story you want to tell would be changed. I don't think that is a risk Heaven or the Metatron would take. It wouldn't fit with Heaven being control freaks.
But erasing memories until only your desired version of the story is left... That's power. That's foreseeable, and it's controllable. And Heaven would totally abuse this power.

Something something the spot’s goofy antics distract from how dangerous his own entitlement and resentment is
#I don’t want to be that guy but I feel a little bit like spot gets sanded down a tad into just the fact he’s funny#and he IS funny I get it. but what makes him scary is the power to lash out with his entitlement and resentment towards miles#it’s you did this TO ME (miles didn’t#he was busy getting pummeled by kingpin and then venom shocking him back and the building was being EVACUATED it’s literally no one’s fault#but spot’s that he was there AND miles didn’t even know he was there when the collider exploded)#so I’m owed the role that you made me into <- miles literally didn’t do this#I’m OWED being your nemesis because I created you <- when all of itsv is about its miles own choices that make him heroic and not the bite#spot can’t even take ownership of his own actions. he’s like oh IM not robbing you that’s the bank. well buddy I don’t see you robbing the#bank I see you harassing some guy owning a corner store#like I get it. ur a cosmic horror and it sucks capitalism is pushing u down and u can’t get a job but like OWN UP TO WHAT THE HELL YOU DO#LMAO#and even miles trying to genuinely reach out and say look I’m sorry I made u feel bad (even though this isn’t an owed apology) and spot#STILL is hellbent on breaking miles back for an imagined slight#I AM GOING TO KILL YOUR LITERAL FATHER BECAUSE I BLAME YOU FOR SOMETHING YOU DIDNT DO#like god lmao. he’s a fun silly villain but there’s legitimate anger and spite and RESENTMENT motivating him purely to try hurt miles back a#as* badly as he imagines miles hurt him. when it’s like dude. own tf up to who’s responsible here#I’m not angry at the spot btw I actually think he’s a fun villain but I think recognising that resentment is what makes him effective as a#*frightening* villain and one that poses legitimate danger#tunes talks spiderverse#apologies xinakwans ik u said you didn’t want to read any spot posts hopefully this snags on ur filtered content block shdjfjfk

Ngl I'm starting to feel like a nonzero amount of the fandom reaction towards Cazador, the general trend of "oh he actually isn't scary or intimidating at all, he's a whiny sniveling little bitch baby and it's embarrassing Astarion was so scared of him because of how non-threatening and laughable he is" is hmmm
maybe a bit based in the racist de-masculinization of Asian men and the way that they are often seen as impotent, weak, and incapable of being threatening?

(2x05 Minor Scale) (4x07 Pitiful Creatures)
"Monkey King? Do you really think he doesn't already know all about me? Curious that he is not with you now, is it not? Ah I see. You have begun to suspect what he already knows—that he made the wrong choice, picked the wrong successor." (2x05 Minor Scale)
"We’re just like Wukong. A fraud! A trickster! Destructive! Why would our legacy be any different? Actually, no no- the chaos and destruction we’ll bring upon the world will make Wukong’s past look like nothing." (4x07 Pitiful Creatures)

Do you have headcanons about how Deity Luigi from your AU would show his love towards Daisy? How would he use his powers for her?
Deity AU
For context: Luigi is a celestial god, and Daisy is a forest nymph
Oooohhhh that's an interesting question 🤭 To explain this, I'll break down how their first meeting went.
- Luigi is very cautious about approaching Daisy. It's love at first sight, and he watches from afar for a while before even getting the courage to talk to her.
- He makes himself appear more human, and carefully approaches her while she's walking through the forest. Being only a nymph, Daisy is by natural instinct terrified of him at first. Even though he is in a human form, she can sense something is not mortal about him, and demands that he show her who he really is.
- One thing about Daisy that Luigi has come to learn, is that she is not as submissive or delicate as other nymphs of her kind. She is loud, ferocious, and able to fend for herself. And he is drawn to her.
- Luigi is hesitant, but agrees in order to put her at ease. "Please don't freak out", he says, as he lifts off his mortal disguise and shows himself in his true form
- Even though he is keeping his power in check (so as not to harm her) he is blinding with sheer power alone. Daisy steps back, unsure whether to run away. But then she take a good look at him. And instead of seeing a ruthless god, she sees a gentle soul staring back at her, begging her to stay, to give him a chance. She approaches him and takes his hand in hers. She smiles at him, and instantly his heart soars. She trusts him.
- Luigi visits her regularly in his mortal form, so as to keep her and the forest safe (for a god's power is destructible if not in check), but there is a comforting presence around her at all times in his absence that she identifies as Luigi. For example, while exploring her forest home, Daisy accidently stumbles into hunter's territory, and she is pursued. However, the hunters don't get far before lightning bolts unexpectantly rain down from the sky and strike them down.
- Another time, Daisy is upset that a part of the forest is dying from the lack of rain, so Luigi sends a rainstorm that instantly rejuvenates the flora.
- Another one I want to add because I think it's cute ^^ While Daisy has a power that can make flora grow, she cannot ultimately make the life permanent. Her powers only allow her to assist the forest. When they both agree for Luigi to spend a night with her, she creates a beautiful bedding of flowers of many species and colours ^^ But she is sad, for she explains that by the time they will wake up, the flowers will be dead. Luigi then says they won't, and uses his power to have the flowers be gently dusted in a watery mist (but does not feel wet to the touch). He explains that the flowers are now permanently frozen in a time of life, love, and beauty, and they will never die out 💚💛

i just fucking hate how that one tweet seems to be managing to successfully upend one man's credibility without any actual proof?? isn't anyone else also horrified by this??
the fact that it's the strangerwriters twitter doesn't mean shit without any proof of a real copy of the script to compare against the accused fakes.
