Ryuu's Birth

Lux looked down at Jin with a soft, aching expression. How long had their partner ached to be a mother? To raise a Vulpix to be strong and wise like herself.

They cradled the egg in their palms and rubbed its shell soothingly.

Jin wanted this, said that her child and the other one needed this. Still, this little one would never know its mother's pain.

They left the city in the dead of night. Slipping through a crack in the outer wall that only they knew about. Lux pulled the cloak around themselves tighter, protecting the egg from everything they could. They knew that Jin would have another egg, that her line would eventually fade and meld into the rest of the Ninetales and Vulpixes of the world. They reached down and pet the flowing fur of her head. It hurt to think about that, that this wonderful line would be gone. But, it wouldn't would it? They looked down at the egg against their chest. This one would live on. A testament to the long forgotten line of Pokémon.

"This way Lux, we haven't much time."

They sigh and follow the Ninetales to the cliff where the moon hangs low and full.

"You ready for this Jin? We've got everything right?"

The Ninetales looks up at the human and her expression is pained, the wound of a mother never to see her child grow.

"We must. They need one another."

Lux nods and presses their lips to the egg ever so gently, "You'll take care of one another. You're proof that family does *care*."

The Ninetales walks to the edge of the cliff lifting a paw delicately.

The air grows heavy, her tails begin to sway and the world distorts. Lux waits patiently watching their partner work something that defies most logic.

Rearing back the Ninetales slashes the air, a line of golden light appears as she whimpers in pain. Lux moves forward fingers reaching into the slice of light and pulling giving just enough space to gently, ever so gently, place the egg within. As they pull back the hole begins to knit itself shut. Lux kneels beside their partner soothing her as he watches one of her beloved tails wither away.

"Be safe my child." She pleads. Lux gathers her in their arms and heads back to the city. Hoping, praying, to anything. That what they did works.

Many years later on a mountain in Poni Island

An Alolan Ninetales feels the air shift and twist, she walks to a cliffs edge curiously. She recoils at the sight of the air splitting open and an egg appearing before her.

The split in the sky closes itself leaving the egg. The Ninetales approaches wary until she smells a somewhat familiar scent. The adopted daughter of her partner? No. It's not, it's similar. But it's not her. She noses the egg gently, a flash appearing to her.

"This child is not of this time. But he belongs with someone here. Give him to the one called Rexi Obsidian. She's loved by Lux Obsidian, and he needs her as much as she needs him."

The Ninetales pulls back, shocked at the feeling of such psychic energy. The egg begins to wobble and it cracks, quickly breaking apart to show within a Vulpix unlike any the Ninetales had seen before.

She huffs but picks up the kit by it's scruff ignoring his protests to the sudden action.

She takes it down the mountain walking home with him hanging from her jaws. Many give her an odd look but don't move towards her or the kit so she ignores them.

She paws open the door and there sits her partner and the adopted daughter.

"Jewel? What do you have?"

She huffs stalking over to Rexi and depositing the Vulpix in her lap.

Her job was done. The kit is hers now.

The Vulpix looks up at the startled young trainer. Chocolate eyes tired and warm.

"Hi little one? I guess you're mine now?"

The Vulpix breathes in their scent before laying his head on their knee. Familiar, home, warm. His.

Since the new season of Miraculous is rolling out I just want to remind/let everyone know how I tag things and when I stop tagging for spoilers!

I’m not a spoiler free blog, for the most part - but I will tag things as spoilers for the first day a new episode of the English or French dub (with English subs) drops. Those two dubs are the ones watched majority by the fandom and usually what people are waiting for when new episodes release.

Gloob likes to snipe premieres so whenever the Portuguese dub comes out - I do tag the episode as spoilers until the English and or French dub comes out.

If trailers/promos come out - I do tag scenes seen in those as spoilers until the episodes come out.

My spoiler tags are #ml spoilers and #(episode name) spoilers

In short; If the English/French Dub comes out first, I will be tagging it as spoilers for the first day. If the Portuguese dub comes out first, I will keep tagging the episode as spoilers until either the English or French dub is out.
