Moon 1!!!

Return to the pixelated lineart since I really love that style. I may swap between it for bigger lore comics, since I found it hard to put the detail I wanted in the prologue comic with the pixelated lines. Anyways, next update on Wednesday!!!

inspired by people like @bitterclan and @poppyclangen i decided to draw my dumb little cats as well!

HillClan was left with dangerously few cats after a landslide hit their camp with a force no one could have predicted. Most of their numbers buried under the rubble, the cats that made it out unscathed begin to dig out those they can yet save.

Hailstar, the leader, was only appointed a few moons prior after the passing of Nightstar, an elderly molly that had been leading HillClan for many seasons. He has always been a small and sickly tom, but with a deep sense of morality, which is the reason Nightstar chose him as her deputy. Despite his confidence in his abilities, he is beginning to doubt himself in the face of this catastrophe.

Ravenfreckle replaced the former deputy, Hailstar choosing him for his conviction and fierce attitude. He was one of the few not hit by the landslide, working tirelessly for days to dig out both survivors and deceased. What the clan doesn't know is his strong bond to the Dark Forest, the ancestors having trained him since he was but a child.

Wildclaw is an adventurous soul, not formally trained as a healer. But, due to the fact that as an avid keeper of lore he had been working closely with the deceased healers, he offered to take up the role until someone more suitable came around. Tending to injuries caused by the landslide has proved challenging, but Wildclaw has never been one to back down easily.

Riverwhisker is the only warrior left alive. A nervous tom, he's spent his life fixing barriers and building dens - the landslide all but destroyed his life's work. Now he must hunt and patrol alongside his clanmates to keep HillClan running.

Mudpaw, the oldest of the apprentices, hasn't lost her playful spark in the wake of disaster. She is as rough and rowdy as ever, even if she doesn't agree with Hailstar's choice of her new mentor. But is she truly as unaffected, or just keeping up appearances?

Cloudpaw knows he should he proud to now be training under Hailstar, but he's far too busy imagining what horrors almost befell him and the others who are left. He's been terrified ever since the landslide, often refusing to come down from boulders and trees and claiming he feels more secure up there.

Featherpaw already had to change mentors only days after being named an apprentice, leaving her nervous and unsure of what's to come. She is, however, a sweet young cat, quiet and attentive and easier for Riverwhisker to handle than Mudpaw would be.

Hailstar is aro and bisexual, 173 moons old, they/she. She has been leading the clan since the beginning, for 8 years so far.

Hailstar has an incredibly deep platonic love with Partridgetail. Hailstar hasn't gained much of any romantic interest in Foggorse, but has willingly spent more time with them, talking about Starclan and medicine, gladly listening to her talk. Over the moons, Hailstar gives birth to their kits Rapidkit and Coralkit with Partridgetail. When they are named apprentices however, the kits die to the ocean four moons later. Striken with greif, Hailstar feels weighed down by the prophecy of the sea taking away their young. In between Hailstar's stress of Tomatomoon, they go out on patrol together. While Hailstar can feel the tension and intent behind Tomato's actions, she takes the chance to kill him a quiet and clean kill, excused by stating he had gone missing until he was found dead later. A few moons later, Hailstar makes Bushnibble their deputy, a cat they trust and think has great intention for the clan. He is incredibly noble and determined. But moons into his role, he dies to falling into a sand dune. As a shock to everyone, Hailstar much still chose a new deputy. They request Edelweissfur, a young warrior they trust will lead the clan well. Hailstar announces their pregancy, another hopeful littler after the passing of their previous one. A few moons later, they give birth, but don't feel confident about raising them. Every since their second litter, Hailstar's confidence in leading the clan has been low. The tension they feel from Edelweissfur is obvious, but there is no way a young cat, especially the child of Bonepelt, could every be… bad, right? They were feeling tired of their anxieties but it was impossible to shake off. Things were adding up in ways that planted sadness and dread in their heart.

Their leadership continues fine for some moons, despite the tension they feel with their deputy. But soon Starclan had other things in mind, and Hailstar found a number of their old founders taken away. Fernpelt, Sweetclaw. Then Foggorse their founder medicine cat, and later their mate Partridgetail. Hailstar still has a third litter coming, and as if ther loss of their entire first litter wasn't enough, Hailstar loses her entire second litter as well. The first two to the ocean, the third to the flood, and fourth to a dog. Grief wrecks their life, losing confidence as they look down at themself, knowing a new generation of life will come, and she may not get to see them live their lives for long.

I feel like parts of Crookedstar's Promise could've made more sense if Hailstar and Rainflower were siblings.

A genuine smile? From Nettlebloom? It's more likely than you think.

Also get to explore more of the territory in this one! Nettle, Golden, and Daisy are at the base of Peakclan's mountain, which is why Daisyfleck is suggesting they go "up". It's very patchy and since the infection has had an infestation of biting gnats, so who knows how Nettle convinced the two to go with her there.

Moon 5 + 6

Two at once because they weren't all that eventful - Wildclaw getting bitten and Cloudmeadow becoming a warrior happened in moon 5, Kokomipelt joining, Wildclaw's wound getting infected and the fight on patrol were in moon 6!

Anyway - welcome Kokomipelt to the clan! He has the loner background listed in his profile but I choose to believe he's the kittypet Hailstar was hanging out with the moon before...mostly because he came in thinking about Hailstar.

Do you have any changes planned for Crookedstar?

I know you're changing most of the injury-names into honor titles, and I wasn't sure what that meant for him.

Just a few!

The most noteworthy being that Storm's renaming is an honor title to begin with, Rainflower neglects him but there is no such thing anymore as a "cruelty" renaming based on a cat's physical appearance.

Surviving the injury was deeply respected by RiverClan, such a scar is a point of pride and a sign that StarClan is shining on you. Even Brightheart's "Dishonor Title" is being changed to 'Swifthound', to remind her that her actions got her friend killed brutally. It has nothing to do with her face.

There's also no way in Hell that Clan authority would EVER allow an abusive parent to force a name of evil intent on a child. If Rainflower even suggested the idea, Hailstar would have raked her ears and accused her of disrespecting StarClan itself.

"How DARE you try to make a future warrior's name an insult before our ancestors?? If I see you anywhere near the nursery again, corrupting our future warriors with your poison, I'll send you down the River myself!"

And ESPECIALLY because this is RiverClan, and Hailstar is Volestar's successor, who was herself the successor of Darkstar. This is the Clan of Darkstar's Commandment, the Queen's Rights, protecting kits from flawed mortal judgement. You might just get a dirty look and a firm no in another, but RiverClan?

She'd be lucky just to have her kits taken. The whole Clan would be FURIOUS.

So!

Stormkit becomes Stormpaw, and leaves RiverClan to avoid the Elder's Den. They do love and respect him for surviving, but unfortunately, he does face some patronizing abelism as he's failing his training, unable to hunt for himself. Going to the barn is like self-imposed training.

While he's there, he meets the barn cats just like in canon. They teach him how to do a modified killing bite, and he develops his own fighting style. This culminates in him killing an old fox, as a favor.

There's also a Perchpaw cameo! He's an extremely old cat who lives in the barn, and his name is Perchshine.
