Hesitantly, she lifted the flower and carefully slid it behind his ear as he turned his head, captivated by her action.
"Just like you," she told him softly, tucking the perennial beneath his hair. She watched his eyebrows lift slightly, his expression tender in a fragile, vulnerable way she had never quite seen before. She lifted her lips in a delicate smile, their gazes knotted together as some unexplained force drew them closer - a catalyst bound for one another since the first day they met.
Ayame's smile fell, lips parting slightly as she felt his hand touch her jaw, tenderly cupping in his palm. Her breath hitched in her throat, feeling the callous on his thumb skim across her cheek, an unmistakable quiver in his finger against her skin.
It felt as though time stood still for a moment, an intimate exchange strong enough for the earth to pause on its axis beneath them, or at least that was how it seemed to her. She lifted a hand, holding on to his forearm as her eyes searched his face, desperate for him to not let go.
His chin tilted, and his mouth suddenly hovered over hers, hesitating as his finger slid against her cheek. Her eyes grew wide as his mismatched gaze looked into hers, the tickle of a shaky exhale warming her lips. Her heart pounded in her chest, heat rising up her spine as she felt the fabric of his nose nudge against her skin.
Her lips parted, suspended with a question as he took the opportunity to press his mouth to hers. Her entire body flushed, fingers tightening at his arm as though it were the only solid thing that kept her anchored to the swaying world.

Love me Mercilessly Kakashi x Akami Chapter 18: Small word count: 4k warnings: Violence, mentions of gore, trauma/Ptsd previous chapters [x]
Returning home from a brutal mission in Kiri Akami unintentionally lashes out at Shisui. Struggling to keep her deeds in ANBU separate from her life in the village Akami finds solace spending time at the Uchiha Compound; specifically with the company of a 3 year old Sasuke.
Sasuke was getting so big, walking and talking with ease. He still had trouble saying Itachi’s name so he stuck mostly to ‘Nii-san.’ S’s proved just as challenging so Shisui sounded more like ‘hisui.’ But Sasuke had no problem with his A’s, though he almost always called her ‘Kami-chan.’
When Akami came around to the backyard Shisui grabbed her and swung her around. He kissed her a dozen times before setting her back on the ground.
Sasuke ran over to them as fast as his little legs would take him.
“Kami-chan! Kami-chan,” he sang.
Akami scooped him up the way Shisui had her. She sat beside Itachi on the blanket he dragged out back Sasuke still in her arms. He reached up and smooshed her face between tiny hands and kissed her on the cheek. His mouth was open and he did nothing to move his lips; it was more like he tried to eat her cheek. He’d never done that before.
Shisui grabbed Sasuke out of her arms and pretended he was mad holding him in the air giving him a harmless shake.
“You can’t go around kissing people's girlfriends' little man!” Shisui teased, tickling the kid until he squealed with joy. Once free he crawled back towards Akami and was rewarded with a peck to the top of his head. She’d never done that before either.
“Kamichan what’s that?” Sasuke asked, poking her forearm with pudgy fingers.
“Sasuke, it's rude to point,” Itachi said calmly.
Akami unwrapped the bandages from her wrist and Sasuke scooted between her legs for a closer look, turning her hand to watch the crisp black lines curve around her wrist.
“It’s my summoning tattoo. You know how Shisui and your brother have a contract with the crows?” Sasuke nodded. “I have one with snakes.”
Sasuke cocked his head to the side, he always thought crows were the only option.
“Can you ummon anything?”
“I don’t see why not.” She said,
“Does Hisui-san have a tattoo?” He asked, directing all his attention to Akami, not bothering to consult with Shisui at all. Akami always had an answer for his endless reign of questions.
“No, you don’t have to have one but it makes it easier sometimes. Do you want me to show you how it works?”
Sasuke nodded furiously.
Itachi himself had been curious and he watched as she extended her forearm. Gently nipping the skin of her thumb enough to draw a drop of blood. Sasuke gasped, upset but far too curious to avert his eyes. Afraid he’d miss it if he so much as blinked. She swiped her bloodied thumb up the length of her inked forearm. A copper bellied water snake appeared in a cloud of smoke.
Summoning Ryu was a lot more practical now that he trained to use his chakra to maintain a smaller size, sort of like a henge. He would no longer level a Forest; unless of course Akami wanted him to do just that.
She held out her palm for Ryu to slither into. The dark snake twisted himself up her arm just as the tattoo had. Balancing himself at the end of her wrist to hold his head up and inspect Sasuke. Sasuke wasn’t frightened in the least as he stared at the snake in amazement.
“This is Ryu, he is loyal to me and me to him. Ryu, this is Sasuke. I am loyal to him as well.” She said, earning a wide smile from Sasuke.
“Can I pet him?” Sasuke asked Akami.
“Why don’t you ask him yourself?” She said,
“He can talk?!”
“I most certainly can, far better than you I imagine.” Ryu spat.
Sasuke frowned and Akami fixed her summons with a venomous glare. Ryu hissed lazily.
Akami gave Sasuke a firm jiggle, encouraging him to try again.
“Can I pet you?”
Ryu didn’t answer but lowered his head for Sasuke to gently stroke the black scales behind his chartruese eyes.

Professor Kakashi Teaches You a Lesson
Pairing: Kakashi Hatake x Fem!Reader
Tags: nsfw, smut, cockwarming, orgasm control, clit stimulstion, teasing, dom-sub dynamic, age gap, professor!Kakashi, student!Reader (18+ ofc just in need of a few special lessons)
A/N: Kakashi was my friends favorite, we were talking today and I had this idea.
Tumblr media
Kakashi knows you're a smart girl. You were top of your class before, why did your grades drop so suddenly when he started teaching? He knows why, the reason is between your wet, sticky legs, but he refuses to give it any attention. This is the second time you've failed this test, one more and you're out. Surely you know this and yet you keep making the same mistakes.
"That was better. Go through that pasaage again. I want to hear everything clearly. No begging for my cum this time." He was fully relaxed against you, arms wrapped around you and looking over your shoulder.
Acting like he wasn't balls deep in your pussy, both hands between your legs, one keeping your folds spread and using the middle finger on the other to spell out correct anwsers.
Now if only you could focus long enough to understand his movements instead of leaving a wet mess on his pants and seat. "Just a little, please give me just a little, sir."
Kakashi made a tch sound followed by the fast and slick sounds of his full hand rubbing between your legs, "No. Not until you get this right. No coming. From either of us." The moment his hand stopped you started crying in his lap, pussy fluttering but no use, Kakashi's self control was unmstched.
He was always patient with his students.
"Now," his finger started moving in slow circles, "do you want to try again?"

⁙ conundrum
Tumblr media
(noun) a confusing and difficult problem or question
‣ modern au! ceo! hatake kakashi x personal assistant! gn! reader; 0.63k wc; hints of enemies-to-lovers trope; sickfic; one mention of drinking, throwing up, hangover; idiots in love; love confessions; tooth-rotting fluff; domestic fluff
‣ hey jess (@pupkashi)!! ofc you can!!!! tysm and hope you'll like this <333
‣ first time writing for the sixth hokage with minimum knowledge possible on naruto manga/anime. gif, divider and characters ain't mine. please don't plagiarize, translate or repost this. enjoy reading! ❤️
Tumblr media
a conundrum.
a baffling, bewitching conundrum is what you are to hatake kakashi.
from your first day as the man's personal assistant when you call the black coffee he drinks as 'overpriced water'...
... to the day, a month later, you fib on there being heaps of work to be done, thus you being in office – when you finished everything two days prior; besides it being a Sunday, the death anniversary of his father and kakashi the only one working there...
... to the day you chatter his ears off, listing the reasons why you, 'the most tolerant assistant ever' (not his words, yours) deserve a pay hike – the main reason being 'the twenty times in the past six months you hauled his drunk ass to his penthouse on the thirtieth floor, ensured he didn't die choking on his puke or from a hangover headache, and dealt with every task of his for the next two days – what with him being a fucking lightweight and all' (again not his words, yours)...
... to now, when you're at his bedside, applying a piece of wet cloth to his forehead, a worried scowl twisting your pretty features.
a shadow of a smirk plays with the corner of his lips as he asks, "you do realize, right, unlike before, i won't increase your salary for playing nurse to me this time?"
"i know," you mutter, as you dial in the doctor's number. the call goes unanswered yet again, kakashi discerns from the quiet sigh falling past your lips. keeping your phone next to the night lamp, you return your attention to him and caress his cheek with a cool palm.
despite leaning into the comfort you offer him from his fever-stricken state, the man's smirk at you doesn't budge one bit.
"then, why are you doing this?"
your hand stills over the apple of his cheek.
in the soft light of the afternoon sun filtering in through the curtains, kakashi watches the way your gaze darts anxiously (and dare he say, coyly) from him to the wall clock and back to him, your teeth nibbling on your lower lip – before a tiny smile blooms on your lips.
"because i love you."
it's kakashi's turn to grow still now.
jaw hanging wide open, the man stares and stares at you - the you who just keeps smiling at him, all sweet and innocent, as if you did not just drop the bomb of a fucking love confession on his sick self - when a sudden hiccup escapes him and you burst out laughing.
"you're such a dumbass, sir," you wheeze, giving him a glass of water from the bedside table. kakashi accepts it silently, lips pressed into a thin line and eyes shooting daggers.
you continue with an unruffled grin, "don't worry, sir. i might not be the most ideal employee but i ain't that unideal to start a relationship with my boss- much less if he's the ceo. much less if it's you."
irked, kakashi opens his mouth to throw back a quip - only to be cut off by a doorbell before he can get a word out. giving him a wide grin and a wink, you hurry to get the door and the man slumps back in his bed, watching your receding figure.
yeah, you and him getting together can only cause problems, power imbalance the foremost amongst them, kakashi thinks as relief floods him from knowing your confession was a hoax – before you walk in, brows pinched together as you check whether you've received every medicine ordered or not – and an unbidden thought hurtles through the man's mind.
what might his life look like with you in it – not as his assistant but as his partner?

Ch. 42
Kakashi wakes from the light sleep the moment Uguïsu’s hand begins to move with purpose, gently and one centimetre at a time sliding down his belly before finding his half-hard cock. Mostly, he wants to let her do as she pleases because he loves the feeling of those slender fingers wrapping around him tightly...but there’s a tension rolling off her body that he can’t ignore.
The callouses lends a sternness to the grip even though he tries to hold her wrist loosely. “Sweetie, you don’t have to -”
“But last n-”
Last night, he had brought her to the peak not once, not twice, but thrice before finally coaxing her down gently when he finally dared hope Uguïsu understood that sex – no, intimacy – could really be about feeling good. Every time she had wanted to reciprocate, he distracted her with kisses and touches. In the end, he had tended to the aftercare as she shifted from a daze directly into a peaceful slumber.
“Last night was more than I could ever have hoped for,” Kakashi whispers, his tone calling for her to meet his gaze, “thank you.”
“...thank...thank you, too.” She hesitates, dark eyes roaming his face for some clue, and he knows what’s coming. “Why don’t you want me to do...anything?”
Because I don’t want you to think you have to. “It’s not...” How do I explain? “It’s not that I don’t...but...” Oh, how he wishes someone else than Jiraya had been the one to talk with him about girls and such. “Please, believe me when I say that your touch is amazing. There’s something you need to remember...” the jōnin's got her undivided attention as he continues, “never let anyone feel like you owe them anything sexual, okay?”
He can see recognition and understanding in Uguïsu’s slow blink. “Like...when you said, I only should do anything I want to, right?”
“Haï. The fact that you let me let you cum three times...all I needed from you was to witness you enjoying it.” It’s not strictly true – he had had a raging boner throughout it all and eventually jerked off as quietly as possible while she slept – but the animalistic need neither was nor is going to blind him. “So don’t feel indebted. Except for having me run all this way when there’s a potential alternative back in Konohagakure, hmm?”
The nightingale’s pretend pout is quickly overpowered by the smile she flashes Kakashi in return at his tease. “Fine! Let’s get home so you can show me that place you were babbling about!”
Home. She calls it home.
...
The couple takes it slow that day. A cold front is pressed down from the north as they leave behind the craggy upland and follow the road, and it’s freezing the mud and little streams created by the storm and making it less tiring to walk. They have plenty of energy left by nightfall, but Kakashi prefers to ask for shelter at a farm rather than continue the journey.
“It’s not much, but it’s warm and dry,” the farmer explains as he leads them to the hayloft above the stables, “please, come eat with us as a way to compensate for the lacking lodging.”
The man might be in his mid 40ies, hair already greying around a tan and weathered face that’s boasting early crowfeet of happiness.
“Thank you,” Kakashi replies for both of the travellers.
Once seated around the low table in the main house, it makes sense why the farmer couldn’t fit the shinobis inside for the night but is able to offer food without worrying about having enough. It’s a huge family. The apparently ancient matriarch has become too old to get up and down from the floor, but thankfully any of the ten grandchildren are more than willing to bring her anything she could possibly need including wild tales about their achievements of their day.
“I almost caught a dragonfly, o bāchan,” a boy professes with a shy glance over at Kakashi.
The more-wrinkles-than-face of the old woman splits in a toothless smile. “That’s nice.”
Although the mood is somewhat subdued, the white-haired jōnin senses the mirth bubbling underneath the surface as the family becomes accustomed to the visitors. If only Uguïsu could relax a bit. Instead, she’s sitting silent as the grave except the few times the wife of the farmer tries to engage in polite chitchat – the result being a few mumbled and evasive replies that eventually dissuades their hostess from further attempts.
Kakashi is generally not a talkative type but tries to move the attention away from the blue-haired woman by answering the questions of the bolder kids. Perhaps it’s a bad idea to stay for the night after all? Uguïsu has been wary of strangers, only slowly warming up to others and trusting almost no one. While she normally puts up a good front, fooling people to think she’s at ease, tonight her discomfort is obvious to Kakashi as it warps into a protective shield against the family surrounding her.
Well...one person doesn’t seem to notice or care about the female ninja’s attempt to shirk socializing, choosing instead to meet the challenge head on. Dark-grey eyes have locked on their target despite the wobble of the gait of the owner – the youngest child has barely learned to walk, much less care about social norms, and is using the newly gained power of walking to get close enough to the stranger before throwing herself onto Uguïsu’s lap with a high-pitched giggle.
“Oh! My apologies,” the mother is quick to stammer as she sees the chubby small hands tangle with blue hair.
Both the parents and Kakashi are moving to separate them, but are stunned by a shy smile.
“She’s...cute,” the nightingale coos.
As if understanding, the little one returns the smile, showing off a single tooth before launching into a bout of unintelligible babbling as she squirms into a more comfortable position. And stays.
...
The white-haired jōnin isn’t entirely sure when it began but he notices the tune when the children are ushered off to get ready for the night. First, he thinks it’s the house creaking. Then he realizes, the grandmother is humming softly as she rocks side to side in her chair with a smile stretching the wrinkles and obscuring her eyes. She’s following a foreign melody as best as she can, a tune set by Uguïsu who still is cradling the little child. Head bent, the blue hair falling almost like a curtain around the girl who’s sleeping peacefully in the arms of the guest. A tentative fingertip traces a path down the bridge of the tiny, upturned nose, earning a puff of a sigh now and then though never enough to disturb the lullaby.
Kakashi can’t make up his mind about what part of the scene it is that takes his breath away. To him it’s as though the world has been rearranged or something inside fell into place with an inaudible click.

I’m f4nf4n.  If you know that name (you probably don’t), it’s likely from AO3.  I am a fan of anime & manga who occasionally writes fanfiction.
I’ve been here before & have no idea how active I’ll be.  TBH, I have a very loveneed/hate relationship with social media, but I missed looking at fanart, lol, so I’m back for now.
Links to my fics exist below the cut, should you find yourself so inclined.

Kakashi x OFC Modern day AU, CIA setting
Tumblr media
*** TW PTSD*** Also NSFW 18+ only below the cut.
Excerpt:
I found myself waking up at some point in the middle of the night. Is it night? It’s so hard to tell sometimes. There’s no windows and my sleep is dictated by the patients and work. I’m never  not on the clock. How many days has it been since we arrived? It’s probably been weeks by now. I’m not sure anymore… I never really got to see the sun much. It seems Kakashi has though. He’s been developing a bit of a tan, but he keeps wearing those skintight mask shirts and he’s getting an odd tan line. I traced over his scar while smiling at his silly change in skin tone as he slept soundly. His breathing calm and even as he rested before me on his side. He took a deep breath and mumbled something I couldn’t quite catch before stirring and turning now with his back faced to me. This time I traced along the wolf tattoo on his right shoulder blade, my forefinger going over the fang of the larger white wolf that was barely visible through the light that crept in under the bedroom door. I can’t remember the last time we were in bed together, just existing together in peace. I think they’re using his ability for reconnaissance to gather intel on the rastarojos, which is good for us either way. The CIA will like that. Still… When he’s away… I always worry he’s going to come back as my next patient.
He turned once more while muttering something unintelligible, this time he rested on his back. I propped myself up on my elbow and noticed his eyes were moving quickly under his lids. Then there was his finger twitch. The one he always gets when he has night terrors. I carefully straddled him while pressing my knees onto his forearms while I placed my hands on his cheeks. “Kakashi.” I called out to him while thumbing his cheeks, trying to wake him. Still he didn’t wake, and I felt his forearm flexing under my knee which meant his finger was still moving. “Kakashi.” I called out again to receive no response. “Kakashi!” In a matter of seconds, his forearms slid out from under me and he grabbed mine to then pin me to the bed with his knees on my biceps and both hands wrapped around my throat. He was squeezing so tightly as I balled my hands into fists and hit at his thighs. My feet tried to come up and slide around the front of his stomach to try and push him off. Even with pushing with all my strength, it wasn’t enough. He was too much. I tried to speak but no words came out, so I opted to kick him. Something there caused him to come back to it and I watched the very moment it happened.
His eyes widened and in it I saw all of the realization he had, finally understanding where he was and his actions. Next was fear. Absolute sheer fear. I knew he was terrified of the idea of what he was doing, what it meant, what that meant for my opinion of him. He quickly scrambled to the opposite end of the bed as I gasped for air. I heard a thud as I coughed and breathed deeply, and when I sat up I could see he had fallen off of the bed. His feet were curled up as his back rested against the wall with him staring at his hands that rested on his thighs. I crawled over to the edge of the bed nearest to him once I caught my breath and held out my hand. “Kakashi, come back to bed.” I suggested, but he shook his head. When I got off of the bed, I sat down next to him with my head resting on his shoulder to then interlace my fingers with one of the ones he stared at.
“Why would you-?” He started to talk but stopped once his voice cracked and he squeezed my hand tightly.
“One more second and I would’ve kicked you off of me.” I joked to try and lighten the mood.
“Stop. This is serious.” He mentioned while looking at my neck and running his thumb tenderly over the skin. “It’s going to bruise.”
“It’s not like I haven’t had that bruise before.” I pursed my lips but was unsuccessful in hiding my smirk.
“Why aren’t you mad, or hurt, or scared, or-”
“Because we don’t do that to each other, remember?” I told him as I placed my other hand on his cheek and my thumb felt the wet remnants of tears on his mask. “That wasn’t you, nor was it something you intended to do.” I elaborated while lowering his mask. “Come back to bed with me, yea?” I pleaded, and after a moment of hesitation, he nodded. Once we both got into bed, I laid on my back and pulled his head into my chest. My hand threaded through his hair and massaged his scalp. “Do you want to talk about it?” I offered, but he shook his head before nuzzling into me and hiding his face with his leg hooking around me. “You’ve been more on edge lately… Do they have you doing things similar to what you used to do in the rangers?” I wondered.
“Yes.” He mumbled after a long while. His hand started to snake it’s way under the sweatshirt of his I’ve taken to wearing when he isn’t around when I go to sleep. His hand groped my breast, his thumb grazing over my nipple. He always does this, uses sex as a way to avoid talking about things that were too difficult.
“Kakashi.” I scolded while he looked up at me with brows slightly raised and innocence in his eyes. He doesn’t even realize that’s what he’s doing… “Kakashi, you don’t have to tell me anything, but if you don’t want to talk, just tell me that instead of using sex as a way to avoid it.” His hand lowered from my breast down to my waist and he hid his face in my chest.
“How are you so…?”
“Therapy Kakashi. Many years of therapy before and after being deployed. You should go too.” But his hand tightened when clasping at my waist as if distraught. “If you want, when we get back, we can go to the VA and I’ll help you set things up.” His hold on me tightened even more. “If you want, I’ll even go in with you, for the first few sessions… If that will make you more comfortable…” I offered and his face came out of hiding to come take a look at me. His lips were slightly parted and there was that certain purity in his eyes, one that hid away the fear.
“Can you really do that…?” He asked so quietly… It was almost like his voice was trembling.
“If it gets you to go, then yes. It should be fine.” I assured to then watch him bury his face in my chest once more.
“Ok.” He murmured against the sweatshirt of his I wore, squeezing just a little tighter to then loosen his hand up completely all while I continued massaging his scalp.
“Ok… Do you want to sleep, or…?” I asked while trying to push his unruly hair back with my fingers. His fingers traced down from my waist, to my hips, and under my lace panties. His finger ran along outside my folds. My hands went to cup his face pulling gently towards me and he neared with his free hand while slipping a finger past my folds to feel at my slick. I moaned against his lips before he pressed his lips to mine to then quickly slip his tongue past and taste me. His tongue massaged along mine as the pad of his calloused finger rested at my entrance without entering. “Kakashi…” I whined to then feel him slip the finger past my entrance and curl upwards to hit that perfect spot. My breath hitched with my mouth open, my lips just barely touching his. Our breaths mixing together as he watched my face in awe with a second finger slipping past.
His lips pressed along my skin, tracing down my neck as whimpered while reveling in the feeling of being stretched by those calloused fingers. Warm kisses pressed down my chest, stopping to suck on each nipple with my hands threading into his hair. Once each nipple was perked and nipped, he moved onto trailing down my stomach until he reached my clothed heat. He stopped for a moment to remove my panties, only to plunge his fingers right back in. His pace was unrelenting as I writhed under his touch. The very moment his lips went over my sensitive bundle, I felt myself gush around him. He lapped up my juices with the sounds of his sucking up every last drop sounding oh so lewd. He came up to press his lips to mine and I could taste all of my liquid in his mouth, on his lips, his chin, his tongue… His hips ground into mine and I could feel his hardness pressed up against my heat. When he pulled away he took off his mask/skintight shirt and I quickly took off his sweatshirt I wore. After he slipped off his pants he pulled his hips rutted into mine while sucking on my neck, his touch starting to feel overwhelming, all consuming.
“I love the way you taste…” He spoke with hushed tones, hot breath in my ear before he groaned as he slid his even thicker girth within me. I gasped as I wrapped my arms around him and clawed at his back as he stilled, allowing me to adjust to his size. Squeezing my walls around him, I heard him grunt into my ear. “Aqua, stop squeezing me like that. He whined while trying to move within me, but I only squeezed harder causing him to let out curses. His hand caressed one side of my neck as he used the other to stifle his moans. My legs wrapped around his hips to help him bottom out into me. “Fuck, Aqua…” He moaned against my skin.
“It’s been too long Kakashi… I need you.” I whined as I felt him filling me to the hilt. He nuzzled into my ear and his hot breath sent shivers down my spine. I mewled his name again as his hips rutted into me and I pricked red crescent moon shapes into his back while squeezing my walls around him.
“Aqua, I won’t last if you keep-” He cut himself off when I sank my teeth into his shoulder, whining against his skin as my muscles tightened. Everything felt like it was building up so quickly despite his slower pace, unable to move as much from the grip I held on his girth. Despite that, it felt like I could feel everything when he moved in me. Every twitch, every thrust, every vein, every ridge and it was making me crazy. He bit back just as hard, with his sharp canines piercing the skin on my shoulder. The pleasure from the pain surged through me and pushed me over the edge, with my walls pulsating around him. His teeth unhooked from my shoulder and he groaned a deep, guttural groan in my ear as I felt him flood me with hot ropes. He groaned a few more times as he gave his last few thrusts before he rested on top of me. My hands threaded into his hair, and I started massaging his scalp until with both fell asleep.

If we're talking about jōnin Kakashi, well, doesn't he already have three little babies? Why do you want to put him through much worse?😭 JK JK
Kakashi having to take care of a child a.k.a. you would be good for you but maybe not so much for him lol, at first.
Don't get me wrong, he doesn't hate you but at first it's going to be a task. Either assigned by the Hokage or he himself took the duty on himself. Either way it's going to be a task. Taking care of a child is no kid's game.
The thing with you is, you are a child not a baby. So it can be both - a good and a bad thing. Lemme explain.
If you're a curious kid and always ask questions which is a good thing! Kakashi would sometimes get overwhelmed. Like you are a kid, how much does that little brain of yours think anyways?
But that isn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact when you ask him questions even he isn't able to answer he feels oddly proud of you.
Also he also tries to indulge you in intellectual debates! Nothing too serious or traumatising for a kid, no. He doesn't want you to deal with stuff he had to go through.
He thinks it's a good way to stimulate your brain in a positive way. It would help your brain grow and develop cognitive abilities as well as make you a critical thinker.
Okay so at first Kakashi is going to be very… robotic with you. I mean he is going to make a list of what all you would need and make sure it's all done on time and perfectly. That you are content.
But then when you finally start to grow on him and he realises that as a child, apart from materialistic things and daily needs, you also deserve and need affection.
Hahahahaha Kakashi sweat drops real hard at that. Kakashi be like: "IKWYZVEGS HOW TO AFFECTION? BABY NEED LOVE WHAT DO I DO? SOMEBODY FUCKING HELP!"
JK. It isn't that bad. He isn't as stone hard as you think. I mean after Team 7, he is much better.
He would start slowly and carefully. He doesn't want to overstep any boundaries or make you feel uncomfortable around him. Of course it took time for you to trust Kakashi and be comfortable in his presence. So he doesn't want to ruin what you both had worked so hard on.
At first you would be slightly confused at his changed behaviour all of a sudden but you wouldn't stop him. It feels nice. You liked it. So you would let him do it and show it back too.
Slowly and gradually, with both of you working hard on improving your relationship with one another, it would be a very wholesome relationship.
It's your wish if you see Kakashi as a father figure, an older brother or just a very close and amazing guardian.
You trust and respect Kakashi a lot! Even though Kakashi has low self-esteem and doesn't think that highly of himself, your opinions on him are the exact opposite. You want to be exactly like him!
He is brave and strong. He is nice, kind and polite. He is smart and good at quick thinking. And he is an outstanding shinobi. How can someone not like him? He's so cool!
So when you first saw Kashi reading a book you wanted to start reading too. It doesn't matter if you had an interest in reading before or not, now you do even more. You copy him a lot. So you started reading too. Of course not porn but children friendly books.
When you were small, Kakashi would sometimes read you books at bedtime and then you would fall asleep. Now you both sit quietly in the living room or in a training ground with a book in both of your hands and just read. In between you would call him though to ask the meaning of some words or their pronunciation if they are too big.
One of your favourite times is when Kakashi takes you grocery shopping. Weird right? What's fun about grocery shopping?
Well Kakashi does most of the shopping but when he takes you it's because both of you are going to make something special for dinner.
Before you, Kakashi just used to cook basic things and live with it. He didn't care much. He just made sure it was healthy with a balanced diet because he was a working shinobi.
Now though, he likes to, he wants to make different things for the both of you because he thinks you are gonna like it. Sometimes it's healthy, sometimes not so much. Kakashi is very strict about your nutrient intake and healthy diet, keep that in mind. But hey, you can have some cheat days right?
So when you guys go shopping, you are bouncing and prancing around happily looking everywhere with big curious eyes. There's a huge smile on your face and honestly Kakashi feels his heart melt at your cute little face. He sometimes chuckles to himself or shakes his head at your childish antics but you are a child, so that's how you are supposed to be.
Children in Narutoverse don't really get a chance to be kids, well he most definitely didn't. So trust me when I tell you, he feels very happy seeing you act like a child. He wouldn't dare let anyone take it from you. He feels kind of envious that he didn't get that and that makes his goal to protect your innocence even stronger.
Yeah so I was talking about shopping. So after you come back with all the required ingredients as well as small things you asked to buy him here and there which he first denied but then you gave him puppy dog eyes, you guys start with the cooking/baking.
Oftentimes things don't work out and you both make a mess but there are times when you both work in silence and peace. It's a very smooth process. You two work very well together.
When you shop together, you cook together and Kakashi asks you to join him because he wants to teach you things when he isn't there to help you. Of course when he leaves on missions he asks his friends to take care of you but still. He is a firm believer in learning to do everything on your own. It had helped him throughout his life.
Some nights, you hear a scream from Kakashi's room which jolts you awake. You rush to his room only to find him huddled on the bed, legs pressed to his chest and head between his knees. He is whispering soothing words to himself and his position is acting as a hug from himself to himself. Honestly that breaks your heart. Something stabs you right in the chest. You realize for the first time, that the man who has always been so strong and fearless for you, cries to himself at night in the privacy of th four walls where no one can see him. Sure you live with him now but before you, he used to cry himself to sleep. And that just wasn't acceptable to you.
So you slowly crawl up to his bed, slightly tap him so as to not scare him and then place yourself on his lap. Arms wrapping around his waist, you hug him tightly.
You are just a kid. You can't do much. But you know how good it used to feel when Kashi would hold you close to him and whisper soothing words to you. You would just sleep listening to his heartbeat and his fingers in your hair.
"It's okay, Kakashi-san. You are okay. You are in your room and you are safe here." You whisper.
"It's not me I am worried about, little one." He finally speaks, sadly smiling down at you.
You look up and ask him what the nightmare was about. And he just shakes his head, not wanting you to know the gruesome things he has done and seen.
So instead you tell him something. "It's okay if you don't want to tell me. But I just want to tell you that I find you really cool. You are one of the most amazing people I have ever met. You are really very strong. I respect you a lot and I am thankful for having you in my life. Thank you for everything you have done for me. I love you a lot Kakashi-san."
He is speechless for a moment. He doesn't know how to respond to all the things you just said. It had been so long he heard those words though. Yeah, the last sentence struck him hard. It reminded him of when his dad used to say that to him as a child. And then he…
Tears start forming in his eyes and his shoulders start shaking. "I love you too kiddo. I love you a lot."
You both just lay in bed for sometime. He wipes his tears and asks you to go to sleep now. It was late.
"Can I sleep here with you? If it doesn't bother you of course."
"Sure." He ruffles your hair and smiles. That crinkle-eyed smile, and presses a kiss to your forehead. "You never bother me Y/N."
One day he takes you to meet Team 7. Having Kakashi Hatake as your caretaker, you were growing up to be a very smart person. You were observant, careful and mature. So when you met the teenagers you got along just fine with them.
At first Sakura cooed when she saw you and started to treat you like a baby, which you didn't like at all.
But then Naruto got annoyed at all the attention Sakura was giving you. "C'mon what's the big deal about them anyways? They're just a kid."
But Sakura just ignored him and continued babying you to which Sasuke let out an irritated groan. "Stop it, will you Sakura? They're visibly uncomfortable."
He knew how irritating it was when people babyed you. And frankly you were relieved he said something. Sakura immediately stopped after that.
After that, you talked to them and Sakura realized you were so much different and definitely not an innocent ignorant child. She immediately felt bad for her behaviour. But she also felt really proud of you. She was in awe of you. And that was the beginning of your friendship with her. Sakura at that time was a very naïve and immature girl. You weren't all that mature either considering you were just a child but you often found yourself correcting Sakura when she said or did things that were wrong or based purely on her infatuation with the Uchiha boy.
Talking about the Uchiha boy, he was the one who got you into the shinobi world. He was a very focused and determined person and seeing him train and spar made you really fascinated with the shinobi world.
So one time you went and asked him why he worked so hard and why he wanted to become a ninja? His answer wasn't something you understood properly but you got what you needed. And that was the start of your personal journey to become a ninja.
Out of all the three, Naruto was definitely your favourite. Your start was rocky but eventually you both grew to like each other a lot. Naruto treated you like his younger sibling, just how he treated Konohamaru. It was fun being with him.
Oftentimes you would sit on the grass and watch Sasuke and Naruto spar. Kakashi noticed but never acted upon his observations. He didn't really want you to become a ninja. He knew what was to come and he was terrified that you would have to go through that. The thought of you being hurt or even dead, sent shivers down his spine. He didn't want to lose another one of his loved ones. And he had sworn to protect you.
He refused you at first, when you brought up the topic. You were confused. And he wouldn't even give a logical explanation which irritated you. That's what led to an argument. At the end of which you found out what was holding Kakashi back. You felt bad now. But you explained to him how his fears couldn't control your life. That it was wrong. That becoming a ninja is what you want, what you feel connected to, that you wanted to protect him like he protects you.
So he agreed and apologised.
NOW! Movie nights, picnics, annoying Gai and making the life of his genin worse with Kakashi were your favourite things to do. But also, training sessions with him were a great bonding time. You both felt very connected with it.
Talking about Gai, you really liked him too. To you he was very different and very cool. So you two got along just fine. Kakashi even sent you to him when he wanted you to practice your Taijutsu and body building.
All in all, Kakashi is a great guardian who takes care of you a lot, loves you till death and beyond and having you in his life definitely made his life a thousand fold better. He finally had someone to call family. He was very happy and he made you happy too.

Flowers for a Shinobi
Chapter 14: Doubt
Word Count: 4,264 (sorry)
Pairing: Kakashi x OFC
Previous Chapter ❀ Archive of Our Own Link ❀
A/N: I know this is long, but this might be one of my favorite chapters so far. I hope you like it <3
❀❀❀
Kakashi stepped out of the shower. The hot steam cut through the chilled air in his bathroom as he shut the glass door behind him. He reached for his towel, rubbing the water from his face roughly. Above him, a cool breeze wafted into the room, causing goosebumps to rise up on his exposed skin. Reaching up, he shut the window as he towel-dried his hair with his other hand, damp silver strands falling naturally into place on his forehead.
Drying off, he wrapped the towel around his waist and stood in front of the mirror. He felt tired. More so than usual. He combed his hair sluggishly. Leaning forward, he looked at himself intently in the mirror, pulling at his exposed face. The thin skin under his waterline had shifted to an unsettling deep purple. The gymnastics his mind had played on him today wore on him. He slid a tired hand down his face, grazing the grey shadow on his jaw. Sighing, he reached into the drawer for his razor.
"Kakashi," Lady Tsunade had addressed him earlier that evening, her tone grave and gaze sharp. "It's worse than we suspected."
"More shinobi?" Kakashi had asked carefully, clearly seeing a strain on the Hokage.
"Thousands, Kakashi," the Hokage slid her hand on to the stack of papers beside her, "thousands of men - almost all in the Sand Village."
"They're targeting Sunagekure now?"
"Looks like it."
Kakashi sighed, thinking back on the conversation as he carefully slid the razor up his neck. Thousands were right, he thought. Whoever was behind this had upped their ante, becoming bold now. What was the purpose of all this? Were they wearing the shinobi forces down to ambush them? To wipe them all out? When would they stop? Would they continue on to other villages?
"I'm sending you to the Sand," she told him, "I need you to find as much evidence as possible. I have three man squads combing through areas between the Leaf and Sand for any signs of suspicious activity. I need you to go and find whatever you can."
"Of course," he had acknowledged with a nod, "But what is the plan for those who are already afflicted?"
"I haven't gotten to that yet," the Hokage had looked up at him with a cocked brow, "You returned the Lotus Art scroll to Shizune yesterday. Were you able to use it like I asked you to?"
Kakashi had shifted his weight uncomfortably, "I did, but the flowers were not adequate, m'lady. They wilted almost immediately."
She let out a sigh, her shoulders slumping, "I was counting on you, Hatake. You, of all people, should have been able to copy and use that scroll."
"I believe there must be some type of built-in safeguard that only allows those in the Hana clan to use it," Kakashi had told her.
"That doesn't make sense. Then why would Daichi try to steal it if he couldn't use it? What would his gang want with this?" Tsunade had lifted her eyebrows at him.
Yes, Kakashi wondered now, wiping the shaving cream from his blade as he proceeded to a new section of his neck -- why would Daichi have wanted the scroll? Was it just to take it away from them? Who would have used it if not for the only Hana Clan member left - Ayame?
Ayame, he thought for a moment, his mind shamefully wandering to her. He had tried so desperately to remain platonic over the last six months, but since the moment he saw her in the Yamanaka shop, he knew it would be a challenge.
He could almost hear her affectionate laugh in his ears, teasing him as a friend would, the sound like something he had memorized. Her sense of humor was his favorite part about her, secondary to the specks of gold in her green irises - always prominent when the sun hit them just right. Just as it had earlier. The constellation of freckles across her nose, her strawberry blonde eyelashes that dusted her cheekbones - the feeling of her lips pressing against his.
"Tss!" Kakashi pulled back the razor, lifting his jaw to reveal a small nick beside his Adam's apple. He shook his head, red blood bubbling quickly to the surface. He swore softly to himself and sighed as he applied pressure to the cut with a hand towel. What has gotten into him, he thought? His jaw clenched, fingers running through his hair in exasperation. Get a grip, you fool, he scolded himself.
"So that leaves me no choice then," Tsunade had continued earlier, leaning back in her chair. She was clearly troubled by what lay ahead, "You'll be taking Ayame with you."
"Understood." The Hokage had paused then, looking up at the Jonin with a defeated stare.
"Truthfully, I don't have much faith in this operation, Hatake," Tsunade had told him honestly, "Five shinobi have already died. Do you truly think this girl is read-"
"Yes," he had interjected boldly, "I've seen how far she has come. She's resilient. She can manage."
Kakashi washed his razor off under the faucet, slapping it to the side of the porcelain sink as short bits of his hair fell into the drain. He stared at himself again in the mirror.
He did have faith in her, he echoed to himself. What he had said in the Hokage's office was true. Even when his commander had revealed just how many flowers it would take to cure all the current men out of commission, his faith in her ability did not waver. Yet, a small voice in his head caused him to worry about her.
"I usually trust your judgment, Hatake," Tsunade had said, "but you seem distracted lately. Especially now. Did something happen I should know about?"
"No, m'lady," Kakashi had bowed his head, feeling an unfamiliar sense of embarrassment.
But that wasn't true, and he knew it. He couldn't stop thinking about her. This unsettling, unfamiliar, potent feeling that overcame him whenever she was near him disoriented him in a way he had never experienced before. The soft and delicate way she had kissed him caused his head to spin even now, hours later. The way his body had unraveled, like a pent-up coil finally bursting from its confines. This gravitational pull towards her shook him, riddling him with uneasiness that was so contrary to his usual demeanor.
The thought of letting his guard down to grow closer to her only then to lose her, just as everyone else had, preyed upon every nerve in his body. He wouldn't survive that.
Pulling his pajamas on, he sat on the edge of his bed and stared at the knots in the hardwood flooring. This needed to stop before it got worse. Well, it had already gotten worse, he thought. He rubbed his eyes irritably, thinking of how he had lost control the moment she kissed him. What happened to being disciplined? It was as though every ounce of self-control he had melted into the ground the moment she looked at him and handed him that flower. Such a small, warm gesture brought about an unfamiliar twist in his stomach.
He couldn't go on like this. He had a duty to fulfill as a shinobi and as her teacher. She had things to learn, and what good would he be if he turned into some buffoon who couldn't have command over his own emotions like the grown man he was?
This entire experience of training her left him feeling strange and vulnerable. Although, he did pride himself in masking his emotions - something he learned in his youth - it hadn't helped him much in those moments of weakness. As soon those lapses of judgement enveloped him, he would back peddle, just as he did earlier this evening on the training grounds. He had panicked when he saw her again.
What a fool he was, he thought. He had seen the look in her eyes on the training grounds, the disappointment written on her face when he walked passed her. It would only worsen from here if he continued to entertain their flirtatious exchanges. She deserved better. Not someone as lost as he was.
Honestly, he thought, even if he somehow conceded to these feelings, he could never love her the way she deserved to be loved. The thought of being so vulnerable with someone felt so foreign he was sure he would disappoint her. Swallowing, he took a deep breath and laid back in his bed.
It was settled then. This had to be the end of it. Going forward, he would put forth his best effort and find a way to control this. He would protect her with his life, but he could not subject her to the disaster of a man he was. It was for her own good.
Reaching up behind his bed, he grabbed his book. He stared at the cover for a moment, processing his decision. Outside, a late summer shower began tapping against his window. The sound of the rain barely registered in his mind. If he had any hope of falling asleep tonight, he needed to distract himself. Their mission going forward would be a long, stressful one. He needed to get his head straight if he was going to be a successful captain.
Carefully, he peeled open his book, content to settle into bed and read in solitude. Carefully assessing each page, he flipped through the novel with his thumb. Where had he left off again? Was it -?
A blur of purple fell from the pages of his book. Looking down, he noticed the sprig of lavender she had given him lying on his chest. Warily, he reached down and picked it up in his hands, twirling it between his two fingers.
A frown crept up behind his mask.
❀❀❀
Ayame shuffled her boots towards the Konoha entrance gate, her legs feeling like cement blocks tying her body down. She stopped at the gate, taking in the smell of the early morning dew after a late-night rain shower. Her freshly washed braid coiled around her shoulder, the scent of her lavender shampoo clinging to each strand.
"Heading out?" Kotetsu asked from behind the guard's base. Ayame nodded, adjusting her knapsack on her shoulders as she gave them her name and rank to record. The late summer morning was cooler than usual, a precursor of the average temperatures to come. Ayame shivered slightly, both from the tiredness that ached in her bones and the slight chill in the air.
She hadn't slept much last night. Between what felt like the physical weight of dying men on her shoulders, coupled with the constant tug of grief washing over her every time she remembered their kiss, it all felt like some strange, unsettling dream. She had pondered Kakashi's actions, wondering if there was something she had done or didn't do that caused him to back peddle in his feelings. She had thought of Sakura's words about her sensei - how much of a private man he was and how no one, not even his students, had ever seen him with anyone romantically. Perhaps he wasn't interested in her - and she had to respect that. Regardless of how much of a jerk he was being.
"Oh, you beat me," Ayame heard a cheerful voice behind her, pulling her away from her thoughts. She turned, greeting Sakura with a weak, tired smile.
"Not by much," Ayame assured, watching Sakura as she gave the guards her information.
"Kakashi-sensei isn't here yet, I see," Sakura huffed, walking closer to the gate entrance. "Typical behavior. I don't think he's ever been on time for any of our missions."
"He was on time for the first one we went on," Ayame pointed out, realizing it herself. She frowned, watching the birds fly over the trees in the distance.
"Oh, well, of cou-"
"Ready, ladies?" Kakashi appeared beside them suddenly. Ayame jumped, turning to face him. He avoided her gaze, handing Sakura a pair of boots just as he had on their mission to Rōtasuagekure. She watched him for a moment, amazed at his boldness to avoid her eyes. The morning breeze picked up, pushing strands of damp hair into her face. She quickly moved them away, watching his nose twitched once, then twice. She watched the muscles in his temple flex as he itched his nose.
"Use these," he told his former student. "Ayame and I stumbled upon a root on our way to Rōtasuagekure in the spring when this all began. I'm sure the pathways to all the villages are littered with these obstacles. We have to be cognizant of where we step."
Sakura nodded, replacing her sandals with boots and standing up straight. The awkwardness was felt by Ayame; his clear admission to avoid eye contact only stung worse. She pursed her lips, folding her arms across her chest.
"There you are, Tenzo," Kakashi greeted with a wave. Ayame traced his gaze over her shoulder, spotting the man she had seen in a hospital bed all those months ago when this all started. She cocked her head. Wasn't his name Yamato?
"Kakashi," Yamato greeted with a nod, "Sakura, nice to see you again. And - ?"
"This is- "Kakashi began, but Ayame pulled forward and greeted the man in a polite bow, "My name is Ayame Hana."
Yamato's eyebrows lifted quickly, his eyes glancing over to Kakashi's precariously. One dark eye widened slightly, the muscles in his jaw clenching again tight. Quickly, Yamato cleared his throat and smiled between the girls as he reciprocated her polite bow himself.
"Nice to meet you. I've heard a lot of great things about you," He said warmly at first, his tone quickly correcting itself as he continued, "I mean, like, what an incredible kunoichi you're turning out to be after such little training."
"Nice to meet you as well," Ayame smiled at his compliment, "Tenzo, was it?"
"Yamato," he corrected quickly.
"Right, my apologies."
A few beats passed between the group, Sakura's gaze switching between the three adults awkwardly.
"Right, well, let's get going then," Kakashi stepped forward, leading the group out of the village gates. "I'll brief you all on the way."
❀❀❀
It would take them three days to get to the Sand Village.
With each passing moment, Ayame could feel herself growing less confident in her abilities to help. How many shinobi were infected? The Hokage seemed to elude that there were many, but they were mostly isolated to the Sand. What if she couldn't handle the amount they needed? Sure, she had the serums Sakura had made, but the toll of using them all at once would put her body in a coma.
With constant anxiety and uncertainty poisoning the well of her mind, she barely thought of Kakashi until he acknowledged her.
"Ayame," Kakashi had addressed her on the first night of their journey, looking at her from across the humble campfire Yamato had made, "Lady Tsunade told me you have been given a chakra-boosting serum for this mission. Have you used it yet?"
"I have," she had told him quickly, pulling her from her own thoughts. It was the first time he had directly looked at her since their interaction on the training grounds the previous day. "It worked well."
"Good," Kakashi had nodded, clearly in thought, "The 12 dozen flowers you made last night will go to neighboring villages affected. But unfortunately, we have bigger problems. The last reports from the Sand show 3,478 affected shinobi. That is almost a quarter of their shinobi population. Each moment they go without this antidote their chakra levels drop further, and another moment their village goes unprotected."
He had paused, looking over at Yamato briefly, "Five have already passed away. The faster we get these antidotes made, the better. At 10 flowers per antidote, that would require almost 35,000 flowers to be made when we arrive."
"I-… okay" Ayame had nodded, feeling a cold sweat sweep across her body. Sensing this, he had continued to watch her from across the campfire. The wood popped, sending a spark skidding across the dirt. Yamato and Sakura ate their dinners beside them quietly. She had been able to sense their uncertainty in her.
35,000 flowers was something her entire clan made in a week - let alone one person in one day.
"You'll do fine," she had heard Kakashi say, "I believe in you."
Her anxiety grew more the following night, gnawing at her like a dog does on a bone.
On the evening before they arrived to the Sand Village, Ayame found herself awake well into the early morning hours. Beside her, Sakura, Yamato, and Kakashi all slept quietly. The wood fire Yamato had made occasionally sparked, reigniting each time an ember found a new untouched piece of wood to lick.
Who was behind all of this, she asked herself? Her mind reflected on her brother, the overlapping moments in their young adult life having been few and far between. Changing shifts to make more batches of flowers to sell were practically the only times they saw each other after their adolescents. And even then, those moments grew infrequent.
Aoi wasn't a bad brother. On the contrary, he had always cared for his older sister. Despite being three years her junior, he looked out for her like an older brother. She missed their friendship sometimes. But the reminder of what he had started, of the destruction he had caused even postmortem, left a sour taste in her mouth and a hole in her heart.
This was entirely her own brother's fault. But really - wasn't she partly responsible, too, for not seeing the signs? Responsible for the way she covered for Aoi during shift changes when he would mysteriously disappear, only later for her to find out that he was gathering up like-minded men and women who believed their labor to be unfair.
She tried to take a deep breath in, filling her lungs with the scent of burning firewood. Anxiety rattled her bones, the haunting feeling of inadequacy lingering in her mind. If she had let her entire clan down by not seeing her brother's deceit, wasn't she just as capable of letting her shinobi peers down as well? She was weak, after all. Even the training she had worked so diligently at was still not enough for her to recover completely from the three blows she had endured. It should have killed her.
The continuous nagging feeling that this all relied upon her, a Genin who had barely found her own path in the ninja world, was overwhelming. She felt herself spiraling, taking in another deep breath and another as panic rose in her throat. There was no way out of this situation, she thought to herself. Sure, it wasn't hard to make some flowers - but what if she couldn't? She knew she couldn't. These men would die because of her. Five had already perished. What if more died? She flexed her hands as they grew numb.
It was all on her.
Her stomach churned uncomfortably as she sat up from her makeshift bed, feeling nausea rise up into her chest cavity. She couldn't breathe, her chest tightening like a vice. Quickly, she flung her blanket off her legs and stumbled out into the dark path between a canopy of trees. Her vision tunneled. Leaning against a tree, her palms tingled as she lost her dinner into a bush.
Coughing, she wiped her mouth and sunk to her knees. She would never be able to do this. She would never be strong enough, she thought. She would never be good enough to be a proper kunoichi. Why had she said yes? Why had she gotten herself into this? Everything was relying on her, a pathetic nobody. Panic consumed her.
"Ayame?" She heard behind her, "Everything okay?"
She lifted her head, quickly pressing her palms up her cheekbones as she wiped away tears that had escaped from her waterline. Kakashi appeared in the darkness, backlit by the campfire as his eyebrows knitted together with concern.
"Ayame?" he asked, sounding puzzled. He knelt beside her, searching her blotchy face under the moonlight. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
She blinked at him, astonished at his audacity. Yet the feeling of his hand on her upper arm was warm. Her stomach twisted.
"I can't do this," she uttered to him, "I'm not strong enough to help all these shinobi."
"Yes, you are," he responded quickly. "Why would you even think that?"
All her resentment towards him vanished, if only for that moment. She couldn't even begin to rationalize staying mad at the only person she cared for in this village. Her only close friend, the only one that understood her. She took in a deep breath, trying so desperately to quench the thirst for air in her lungs.
Another deep breath, and another, until she felt like she was gasping for air.
"Ayame," He took her shoulders, steadying her. "Hey - breathe. Listen to me. You have to breathe or you're going to pass out."
"I can't," she barely managed, the air leaving her lungs, "these shin-shinobi are going to die. I can't-"
"Yes, you can," He gripped her shoulders, "didn't I train you? Didn't we train all summer? Look how far you've come, Ayame. You couldn't even make a leaf twitch before."
A quiet sob escaped from her lips, her body leaning forward and her head settling against his jacket. She cradled her chest, her hands tingling with numbness. Was she going to die right here? She certainly felt like it. She couldn't stop the waves of fear that crashed against her body.
"You have to get ahold of yourself," he said whispered against her ear, a hand sliding across her upper back. His breath was hot against her skin. "I know this is a lot of pressure for one person - this is your first real mission, and much of it relies on you. But you're not alone here. You have support - Lady Tsunade, Yamato, Sakura, we're all here. I'm right here. I'm not going to let you fail."
Thick tears slid down her cheekbones as she processed his words, her eyes shut tightly. She stayed slumped over against him, the pounding of her heart in her ears the only indication of time passing. He let her cry, his hand brushing over her shoulder blades every few minutes. She felt ashamed to be crying. How weak it must make her look.
"Ayame," He called to her again once her breathing had evened, his tone quiet. "Look at me."
She paused a moment, inhaling deeply as she flexed her hands. She opened her eyes, lifting her chin to meet his gaze. His hand slid down her arm, barely grazing her skin as he rested it on her wrist. Their faces were inches apart, enough for her to see just how deep the divot of his scar was. She inhaled shakily, her body still quivering. She hadn't meant to be this close.
"It's okay to feel what you're feeling," he told her calmly, "But you're a Leaf kunoichi. You can handle this. I have faith in you."
Ayame blinked at him, a hiccup twitching in her throat as she felt her anxiety slowly dissipate. She considered his words, searching his face as she realized his honesty was genuine. A small, reassuring smile bunched up the fabric of his mask. She stared at him for a moment, unsure of what to say.
"Thank you," she finally managed quietly, his single dark eye holding hers. He hesitated, swallowing with difficulty as his smile began to fade. His head turned slightly, almost as though he wanted to look away. She could feel her mouth go dry.
"You're welcome," he replied almost weakly, his thumb twitching against the underside of her wrist.
Time could have stopped there for all they knew, the two of them on the forest floor of some unknown location on the outskirts of Sunagekure. Neither said a word, their eyes locked together in some strange dance to make up for their bodies being cemented in place.
She wanted to lean forward, to press her lips to his again, just as she had earlier that week on the training grounds. There was just something about him that drew her to him, like a mariner to a siren. She felt his grip just barely tightening around her wrist. Was he going to kiss her this time?
"Oi, Kakashi!" The pair jumped, startled by the irritated voice coming from their campgrounds. Quickly, Kakashi pulled away, standing to his feet to see Yamato striding forward.
"Are you trying to set the forest on fire?" Yamato asked sharply.
"What?" Kakashi asked, puzzled but also clearly flustered. He turned his head back to Ayame, his hand poised in the air to support her as she shakily stood from the ground.
"Come see for yourself," Yamato turned on his heel, walking back to the encampment without another word.
The two exchanged glances, quietly wandering back. Once they reached the clearing, they could see the thick smoke in the air, a foul stench of burnt fabric mingling under their noses.
"Did you just throw your blanket into the campfire?" Yamato asked scathingly, his tone pointed at Kakashi. He gestured to a charred piece of wool next to a burnt-out campfire.
Ayame lifted a hand, "oh, that's my blanket. I'm sorry."
Yamato's demeanor changed, uncrossing his arms from his chest, "oh, well. Be more careful then, will you? It could have done more damage if Sakura hadn't smelled it."
"Of course," she nodded, looking down at her blanket, now a quarter of the size it once was. She shook her head, her body still trembling from the adrenaline of her panic attack and whatever it was that just happened between them. She glanced over at Kakashi, watching him scratching the back of his head nervously as he pulled his body to the ground.
"Everything okay?" Sakura asked nearby, her voice soft with concern.
Ayame turned to her and nodded, giving the girl a faint reassuring smile.
"We still have a few more hours until sunrise," Sakura said, looking up at the fading stars. "You should get some rest, Ayame-chan."
Ayame nodded again, pulling her body down onto her pillow. She sighed, closing her eyes as she heard the rustling of her teammates settling back in. She placed the back of her palm on her forehead, feeling the aftermath fatigue hitting her.
Kakashi's words wove in and out of her dreams, disrupting the moments of panic that consumed her when she would startle herself awake. Her skin was slick with a cold sweat as the sun rose. Opening her eyes, she heard her teammates begin to gather their belongings as the crows cawed in the distance.
Pulling herself up on her elbows, Ayame looked over at Kakashi and Yamato as they disassembled the campfire. Sakura sat on a rock nearby, brushing her hair with her fingers, her bag already packed.
"Good morning," she said brightly, her expression sympathetic.
"Morning," Ayame replied groggily, sitting up. She felt her shoulders grow cold and looked down at a blanket in her lap. Reaching down, she touched the wool fabric, noticing it was a different color than hers. She looked back up, remembering her burned blanket as it was still crumpled on the ground beside her.
Puzzled, she looked over at Kakashi, watching as he and Yamato began packing their belongings into their knapsacks. She pursed her lips together, forcing away a smile and noticing that between the two men, only Yamato had a blanket to pack away.

Love me Mercilessly Kakashi x Akami Chapter 26 Cedar-wood, Spars and Karaoke bars word count: 4.9k tw: nsfw(minors dni 18+) sex, very minor violence
Sasuke considers the person he wants to be versus the person he’s parents expected him to be. Finding an unlikely role model in Kami-chans perverted masked friend. Meanwhile Kakashi and Akami are struggling to find a new normal in their ‘relationship’
Since the deadline for Akami to submit her proposal had come and gone, Kakashi figured it was high time he returned his father’s typewriter to its rightful place in the mausoleum his childhood home had now become.  If Akami did in fact get the position–for which he saw no reason as to why she wouldn’t–he’d buy her a new one as a congratulatory gift, not at all as a ploy to get first picks on a new replacement for Team Ro.
It was close to noon by the time Kakashi strolled over to Akami’s, it was a sunday and he knew Sasuke would be home so it would be in everyone’s best interest if he used the front door. He stood on the stoop and waited—knocking a third time to no avail, he was about to turn tail and cut his losses when he heard the commanding sound of her voice.
In spite of his good natured intentions Kakashi hopped up to crouch on the top of the fence in the backyard.
“Push and pull Sasuke, don’t just whip your arms around.” Akami said, coming behind him to guide his hands.
“Dominate hand on top does what?”
“Push”
“and the bottom?”
“Pull” He said, striking swiftly at the post with his wooden waster.
“That’s my boy, use the entire sword, not just the blade.” She said, “again.”
Akami demonstrated a fighting form with one of her old Katanas. She bent her front knee, resting the sword on her opposite shoulder to bring the blade down quickly, stopping its momentum as it crossed her path. “Remember in a battle you’ll have an opponent, so don’t hurl your weight through the sword and overswing. You stop when you hit your target or else you could throw yourself off balance.”
Sasuke nodded fiercely. Akami brought the blade up over her head in a circular motion, shifting her stance through her hips and slashing the sword in the opposite direction. She demonstrated again, slower so he could see that her grip on the hilt didn’t change, only the tilt of her wrists and elbows. Sasuke tried to do the same, but his movements were awkward as he was still unaccustomed to the feel.
“That’s alright try again.” Akami smiled, as he looked at her unsure of his performance.
Sasuke was preparing to bring his wooden sword up over his head a second time but was distracted by the scraping of metal as Akami withdrew her katana from its sheath, whipping it across the yard as if it were a dart. The Katana pierced the fence. The blade bobbed up and down just above Kakashi’s head as he jumped from his perch, landing in the backyard.
“Sage! Hatake, why’d you conceal your chakra?!” Akami screamed as Kakashi placed a foot on the fence to dislodge the blade she intended to skewer him with.
“Just trying to keep you on your toes, Ketsueki.”
“And if I had hit you?!”
“I guess it's good you’re getting rusty then,” he crossed the yard to hand her the sword. An act he immediately regretted as she turned the weapon on him, holding the tip to his throat with a scowl.  She hadn’t intended to kill the intruder, had she? Maybe she was a little rusty…did he even need the sharingan to avoid her attack?
Akami pushed the blade closer to his throat as she toyed with asking him as much, but she felt Sasuke staring and remembered that he still didn’t know Kakashi had a sharingan. She sheathed her sword.
Kakashi gave Sasuke a wave and a closed eyed smile. Sasuke puffed his cheeks in acknowledgement and waited for Akami’s permission to begin again.
“Go ahead Senshi,” she smiled. “There won’t be any more interruptions” she turned to punch  Kakashi in the sternum with the flat of her fist.
“Nope, no interruptions” he groaned.

Can you do a yandere Obito and Kakashi? With a shy reader, but once out of their shell are quite bubbly and affectionate to them
If that's fine with you, ❤️
Ofc but because idk if you wanted separate or together imma do separate . (If you want them both x reader send another request )And sorry for them being short
Warning: yandere , kidnapping
Masterlist
Kakashi
Kakashi liked you since few months now and his obsession with you grew bigger from day to day . And one day he decided to kidnap you and keep you
Kakashi honestly thought of your shyness as the cutest thing he ever saw . Everytime you acted shy a quiet aww left his mouth
And tbh yandere Kakashi isn't so staying to be afraid of , he won't hurt you
And when Kakashi noticed you warmed up he was treating you even better with the goal to see your normal self
Ofc he will miss the shy y/n but that's not a problem because the new y/n is even better . He loves how when he comes home you run towards him and hug him tightly
Or when he's reading his icha icha book and you crawl on his lap and just hug him , and kiss him randomly while he reads .
It doesn't annoy him , he enjoys it and shows it with his cute closed eye smile
And when you talk about things you like he will listen to you for hours
And if you like something you don't have ? He will get it for you
And sometimes when a mission he was on failed and you cheer him up? God he loves it
After he got more trust he takes you out again because he thinks you won't run away , and he takes you to the most beautiful places .
And when you smile he is melting inside , but his favorite is when you talk about the nature and your favorite flowers . Bc he loves listening to you
com'on Kakashi let's have a race to that tree
Ok but I won't go easy in you. you start the counter
Yeah it's fine 1 2 3 go
You tried to run as fast as possible but the Hatake was clearly faster , when you arrived at the tree you just shouted
Yes 2nd place!
And he smiled , "but you're 1st place in my heart " he said but quickly realized it wasn't that good but after your response he didn't thought he was bad at flirting anymore
Awww kashi
Obito
Obito asked you to be his girlfriend and you said yes , but his trust wasn't that big and to make sure you will be his he kidnapped you
At first obito never really thought about your shyness as cute , it was something normal
And when you warmed up a little more and started being yourself he loved you even more ( if that's even possible )
Like the way you talk about things you like or how happy you get when he gifts you something it's melts his uchiha heart
And with the affection thing his trust went up , and he went outside with you but still you weren't allowed to go out of his eyesight
After a while you both walked past a little rabbit , " awww obito look it's so cute " you tapped his shoulder and pointed to it . The way you smiled at the small animal hopping around got him hit with another love arrow right in the heart
Walking with obito always goes for hours
"obi I can't walk anymore" you said in you tired voice and obito stopped walking and crouched " com'on jump on my back"
And when he noticed you fell asleep he's walking slower and careful
When he's home he lays you into the beds and puts carefully a blanket over you .
Before he leaves to get himself a tea he gives you a quick forehead kiss
When he finally comes to bed he pulls you towards him like a teddy and won't let you go until he awakes
End lol ik it's not the best but yeah , anyways ask box is open and have nice day/night

Part of why I like Shikamaru testing the would-be chunin with Kakashi’s principles so much is that Kakashi living by those words keeps Obito alive through them, right?  And Obito already had those values, but he was verbalizing them in connection to why he believes Sakumo was a hero, so this combined principle that defines who Sakumo, Obito, and Kakashi are, is now going to live on in Naruto, Shikamaru, and the rest of their generation.  And ofc “don’t put the rules above your comrades” is a good way to live regardless of whether any of their names are attached to it…I dunno, is it dumb to just want this to be Kakashi’s legacy over his other prowess/renown? (x)
NO IT IS NOT; I AM RIGHT THERE WITH YOU!  (And I agree with what you said, that this is likely already how he’s going to be remembered - and I’m so grateful for that, because I think we know that there are many things in Kakashi’s life that have brought him renown but that he doesn’t want to be remembered for.  Thinking specifically about that scene where Kakashi takes out an enemy and Yamato makes that comment about “keep this up and you’ll be famous,” and Kakashi is clearly so uncomfortable with that...Kakashi doesn’t want that kind of recognition, the kind you earn from being particularly efficient at killing people.  He doesn’t want to go down in history as “cold-blooded Kakashi” - that was never something he wanted to be known as in the first place.)
Anyway, I was partway through writing the below post when I saw your replies about Kakashi’s family/legacy in relation to the new Chunin exams, and I just went, “we REALLY are having the exact same thoughts about this show” 🤝 so I’m just turning the rest of this post into a response to your comments, because I could not possibly agree with your angle on this topic more, and I knew my response wasn’t going to fit in the replies XD
The thing I kept thinking about when I saw that Shikamaru’s version of the Chunin exams was passing/failing students based on Kakashi’s criteria was that this is a HUGE paradigm shift for the Leaf Village (and for shinobi culture as a whole).  The new exams say that if you abandon a teammate to complete your mission (aka to pass your test), you’ve made the wrong decision.  The mark of a worthy shinobi, in this new framework, is your commitment to choosing people’s lives over the success of your mission.  But to have something like this enshrined into the Chunin exams would have been unthinkable in earlier generations.  When Kakashi’s father made a decision like this, he was breaking the law, and nothing about his choice was considered honorable or worthy or in any way acceptable.  He was blamed for it by the Land of Fire and the Leaf Village, “slandered and vilified” by his peers (even the ones whose lives he saved), and hounded to the point of suicide.  And even as little as four years ago, when Kakashi started working as a Jonin Leader, his philosophy for evaluating genin was still notorious, and his standards were considered to be abnormal (“It’s a good thing we didn’t get that jonin everybody talks about”/“Who does he think he is, making up his own criteria?”).
But just a few short years later, the script has been completely flipped.  Now you can’t even become a chunin unless you demonstrate your commitment to putting your comrades’ lives first.  And I just keep thinking about how that must feel for Kakashi, to see the systems that punished his father so mercilessly finally start to crumble and fall.  To see a shift in the culture that indoctrinated Itachi and brainwashed Yamato into murdering family and friends, on the pretense that it was necessary for the sake of a mission.  To see the values Kakashi has tried to live by ever since Obito’s death incorporated into the official structures of the shinobi world, when previously they were grounds for vicious persecution.
To have Sakumo’s choices validated and affirmed by the shinobi world’s promotion structure when just a few short years ago those choices were universally reviled and earned Sakumo nothing but shame, hatred, and harassment must be such an emotionally overwhelming experience for his son, who went through his own kind of crucible in the wake of Sakumo’s departure but ultimately came out the other side more committed to his father’s ideals than ever.  To finally see things changing, and for these changes to be the direct result of Kakashi’s own teaching choices - I can’t imagine what that must feel like.  I don’t even think that Kakashi ever expected to see a world that’s progressed this far, to be honest.  He made a decision to embrace his father’s values, yes, but he did so long before they were considered acceptable, long before they were something he could ever expect to be rewarded for.  That’s why Obito told him “no matter what the village or anyone else may say, I think you’re a great jonin” - he knew Kakashi broke the rules to rescue Rin the same way Sakumo broke the rules to rescue his comrades, and he knew it was entirely possible that Kakashi would catch flak for it upon returning home.  In the shinobi world, the mission is absolute, and people who buck the system are branded as traitors.  If the Battle of Kannabi Bridge had gone poorly because of the detour Kakashi and Obito took, Kakashi may not have been welcomed home quite so warmly.
Kakashi never really expects his choice to be rewarded or respected.  But despite this, and despite the fact that he knows the potential consequences better than anyone, he chooses to stand by his father’s values anyway.  He makes that decision the day he loses Obito, and he never looks back.  No matter how lost he becomes, or how much pain he goes through (I’ve thought this world was hell, too), he never loses sight of this one thing: he’ll never abandon a friend, and he’ll never bow to anyone who tells him that his mission requires him to do so.  That’s true throughout his time in ANBU (if your orders are to kill a friend, then those orders are wrong.  and the one who gave you those orders is wrong!), and it’s true when he becomes a teacher, too.  He persists in his convictions, no matter how unpopular they are, and he teaches them to an entire generation of children, even when people keep giving him the side-eye for failing entire teams of genin year after year.
He never expects his behavior to make this kind of difference, and he’ll probably never give himself credit for any of the changes that we’re starting to see now, but the only reason these things are happening is because of the choices he made back then.  The new world we’re on the brink of building now is a direct result of Kakashi having taught his students the values that his father and Obito died for.  Kakashi’s teaching is what helps Naruto go from “when I become Hokage, the whole village will have to stop disrespecting me and start treating me like i’m somebody important” to “how could i ever become hokage if i can’t even save one friend/a true hokage never steps over his comrades’ bodies.”  It’s what helps Sakura go from “you obsessed about Sasuke, who was gone, while Naruto was right in front of you and you wouldn’t lift a finger to help him” to a decision to put her feelings for Sasuke aside in order to release Naruto from the promise he made to her, which is killing him.  It’s what helps Sasuke go from "you thought [your teammates] were so far beneath you they were worthless” to “I don’t ever want to see that again - my trusted comrades falling right in front of me,” as he offers to die for them against Gaara.  It’s what helps even Neji Hyuga go from a disdainful “who does he think he is, making up his own criteria” to an affirmation of those same criteria when telling the Hidden Rain ninja “it’s just the Chunin exams.  The safety of our teammate is more important than passing.”
All of the changes that we’re seeing now are happening because Kakashi was committed to teaching the next generation the lessons he feels are important, contrary to widely-held public opinions and in defiance of the people who made a near-successful attempt at turning him against his own father: We never abandon our friends.  We never sacrifice our comrades.  If your orders are to kill a friend, then those orders are wrong.  We do what’s right, not what we’re told.
The Hatake clan may not have a hereditary jutsu to be passed down to others, but THIS is their legacy.  This massive sea change in shinobi culture, the hard-fought shift away from a repeat of the tragically sacrificial Sakumos and Itachis and Tenzos of the old shinobi world, the total inversion of Mission > People to People > Mission - all of that started with Kakashi’s father, who died before he could see his work completed, but whose torch was picked up by Obito, and then by Kakashi, who made it his mission to pass on those ideals to the Leaf Village’s children, some of whom are now making policies that affect promotion criteria for the entire shinobi world.
Just...I’m thinking about Kakashi taking Sakura out to celebrate and to hear all about her test, and I know she won’t even give Shikamaru’s last question a second thought, because to her it’s just natural that they’d be tested on that; Kakashi’s been testing them on that stuff since day one; it doesn’t even occur to her that there’s anything novel or strange or revolutionary about it; it’s just expected and accepted by her entire class that the principle “people are more important than rules” is something all shinobi should understand - when in reality, things have NEVER been like that before, and it’s taken SO much work to get here.  A question like this being included as pass/fail criteria on the Chunin exams would have been unimaginable just a few short years ago.  Kakashi’s father was harassed to his death for answering this question in the exact same way that is now required of anyone who wants to pass the test.
What an incredible feeling that must be for Kakashi, who worked so hard and endured so much to keep these values alive.  To see how far the world has come - and to know how much of this progress is the result of his own choices, which he never thought would amount to anything so substantial - what a bizarre, beautiful, bittersweet feeling that must be.

Ch. 48
The love of his life cries that night – sobs from way deep down that jerks her body. That must be what woke him because she is silent as she lies there, curled up and nails digging into her own arms. I did this, Kakashi thinks the second before realizing that she hadn’t intended for him to discover her like this. Even so, after the first shock to his light touch, Uguïsu rolls over and buries her wet face into the crook of his neck, opting to seek out as much skin-contact as possible.
The woman remains silent, tears soaking him, the pillow, the blue hair. And all Kakashi can do is to hold her tight, mumbling against her damp temple that all will be okay.
It takes a long time, but eventually he feels the sobbing subside and the breath even out as she falls asleep in his arms.
The morning comes too soon, forcing the jōnin to untangle from the heavenly warmth and prepare for a new day. He doesn’t have the heart to wake her. Hell, his sense of duty is barely enough to leave their home and head to the Academy. The only comfort he can give Uguïsu for when she wakes up is a small note.
...
Kakashi is thankful of his mask. Listening to Asuma, the description of the first proctor of the exams sets off a bitter taste in the white-haired jōnin's mouth and his mouth twitches in dismay. A professional of torture and interrogation. Even without any physical aspects, the teams of hopeful genins are in all likelihood facing a challenge greater than they might anticipate.
He had been a fool. Ready to prove the woman’s innocence as well as his own, Kakashi had offered to be the guinea pig needed to show off her unknown skill. If only he could undo the past, take it back. Time and time again, he had laid awake afterwards and replayed the horror for seemingly no other reason than to torture himself. He had recalled the frantic flutter of her pulse beneath his fingertips and the way her grasp had slackened before eventually slipping away altogether...and still, the worst part had been the realization of what he had done at the behest of this Morino Ibiki.
Does that really make him a sadist, though? Kakashi doesn’t speak up against the half-joking accusation and he can see that deep down, despite the gentleness of his smoking friend and his love interest, they all know that Ibiki is a product of the same bloody past as the rest of them. Whoever the proctor decides will pass this first part of the exams are truly going to be strong of mind and soul.
...
Kakashi feels the excitement manifest down his spine as goosebumps when he watches the trio enter the 44th Training Ground.
“Pup,” the word is preceded by a familiar pop of smoke, “you better hurry home to your mate.”
Too concerned to worry about Pakkun’s choice of words, Kakashi already starts running. “What’s happened?”
“Not sure.” The little ninken has no problem keeping up with the human’s long legs. “She’s panicking. The others are with her.”
Shit. He doesn’t even dare to presume what might have set off Uguïsu’s state off mind – it’s something he’ll have to find out once there and he’s gotten her to calm down.
At least that’s what he thinks the plan is until he steps into the house and finds the woman calmly sitting with a cup of tea clutched between her fingers. She doesn’t move, eyes not registering his arrival but staring into oblivion through a shock of blue hair that’s escaped the rest and fallen past her ear and forehead.
“Uguïsu?” There’s no reaction to Kakashi's gentle greeting.
Not until he cradles her face in his hands and turns it to look at him, both eyes bared to fully take in the state of the woman.
“He’s...he’s closer...I think...”
Kakashi narrows his brows, gaze flicking to the grey tone of the skin and the endless resignation of her features. “Who.”
“Orochimaru.” Her voice sounds as though it’s coming from far away, trailing off at the end when she moves to rub her chest where the seal, the only barrier to the Curse Mark and the snake’s presence as of past. “I can feel...him...”
A million thoughts streak through the ninja’s brain in a second, slamming him into a stunned silence for longer than he’s proud of. “How?”
“It...sting. Not all the time just...it was a light stab a couple of times and now it’s gone but I know, I know what it means!”
“Please, look at me darling,” Kakashi finally gains her full attention and kisses her gently on the forehead, “have you seen or heard anything out of place?”
“No.”
“Good.” A new kiss, one which she leans into this time before seeking his lips with her own mouth “What tactic do you want to use?”
She considers the options, head bowed and hair cascading around her as a sort of cocoon made to shield her from the evils that he is woefully unable to prevent although Kakashi is ready to do everything in his power. What he does yearn to do, however, is to wrap her tightly in his arms and promise everything is going to be alright – his joints and fingers are itching with the need as he refrains from giving in out of fear that too close physical contact will make Uguïsu's anxiousness worse.
“Maybe it’s nothing...but we ought to warn the Hokage nonetheless.” Biting her bottom lip, she considers the options before shaking her head. “Yes. Yes, I’ll go to him and explain...then he can decide.”
“Sounds like a good beginning, birdie,” Kakashi smiles from behind his mask.
There’s a flicker of a smile in return before deep-rooted seriousness returns with big eyes and renewed twiddling with a strand of hair. “Can I-uhmm...would it be okay if...” Uguïsu mumbles something more which is nearly impossible to discern.
“Come again?” What is it?
A deep breath. Shoulders lowering, head lifts. “Can I have a hug, please?”
“Always!”
It feels amazing to finally hold his nightingale tight and safe.
