Hey I just finished Hilda season 3 and I am forever changed.
I joke that I could write a thesis about some media but I could really truly talk for hours about how fucking good Hilda is.
It’s core strength, which tears at my heart and soul so earnestly, is that it is not just a story about child adventurer, but equally a story about the MOTHER of a child adventurer and it’s just so beautiful. So impactful.
I think Johanna may be one of my favorite characters… ever. I think she is Absolutey Incredible.
Season three was just so amazing, the whole series is. I beg y’all to watch it because it’s so so good and deserves all the love it can get.

the D20 cast is a truly wild yet perfect combination:
emily “hilda hilda” axford - manages to push every interaction to the furthest extreme and commits HARD to making it work. Consistently leaves Brennan speechless, which is a hard thing to do.
Ally “eggroll time” Beardsly - consistently rolls some of the most important narrative Nat 20s. Also has a lot of the best comedic dialogue each season. I always think about the casual “hey, baby” towards Ayda. Cracks me up every time.
Lou “rolling up” Wilson - A great role player. His best moments come when he’s allowed to get frantic. He’s always so disgusted by the enemy the group is fighting. A lesbian ally.
Siobahn “Boggy the Froggy” Thompson - I’ve said it before, a truly underrated player. She is so in tune with combat it’s not even funny, and her characters, while sometimes subtle, have so much heart.
Zac “Are you my dad?” Oyama - King of the himbos. The comedic timing on this guy is incredible, he can make the entire table laugh with just one word. He commits to bits in the long term that get funnier the more you hear them.
Brian “My Gender is Gun” Murphy - Only has two modes: small little guy and BIG HEFTY BOI. The perfect antithesis of Ally’s perfect rolling. Always seems to be a little anxious about whatever’s happening
Brennan “Kill the Dog” “FUCKED Up” “Rad” Lee Mulligan - I don’t need to explain.
I could watch these guys play anything.

What's up doc? 🥕. For this time may I reguest with something suprise? Basically, you can choose any four fem characters that would be the most unsettling, creepy, and controlling yandere for their yandere. Plus, which Ines would most likely break their darling?
Aight then, Hope you'll enjoy😁
Trigger Warning: Yandere, Obsessive behaviour, Possessive behaviour, Murder
Ruan Mei: She is increadibly controlling and she can be real creepy as well, before you get kidnapped by her she kinda just stares at you... all of the time, she doesn't even look away when you catch her in the act.
It is Ruan Mei's way to study you, what if you do something when she isn't looking, she could miss important details about you, detail she can use to control you better. I would rank her 3rd on this list most likely to break her darling, she actually will try to make sure you stay sane.
"I think you need to calm down, do so before I lose my patience as well, If you just do as I tell you we could skip all this"
Edelgard: She isn't the most controlling of yanderes but she's pretty high up there, but it would be rather unsettling to have her as your yandere, she tends to force herself into any conversation you have with others and isolates you from everyone else, she also tends to be rather touchy even if you aren't in a relationship, not like you can stop the future empress from doing what she wants.
Edelgard's controlling side is that she chooses who you can hang out with, she gets really mad if you ignore her commands, Hubert is fine but people like Hilda or Sylvain... yeah no, if they ever get near you their heads will be detached from their bodies, I will rank her as the 4th on how likely she is to break her darling, it's more likely for you to get stockholm syndrome with her than to break.
"It feels nice spending moments alone with you like this... I just have to ask, did I see you speak with Sylvain earlier, I hope not, that would be... tragic"
Junko Enoshima: Unsettling and Creepy to the max, she isn't very controlling tho if at all, she will openly talk with you about murder, torture and any subject you might find horrible, hell she might even kill someone in front of you to see your reaction, she loves seeing you squirm and look afraid. She makes sure you will never feel comfortable with her all so she can see your delicious despair.
Junko isn't afraid either of you telling others anout what she does, why would they believe you over her, it's almost laughable how easy it is to keep you around even with how abusive she is. Very much the most likely to break you, she might even kill you just so she herself can feel despair.
"Did you really try to rat me out, it's almost adorable, tho if you do that again I might just need to kill some of your friends, don't make me too mad darling"
Cocolia: Yup, controlling as all hell, you would also have this unsettling fear every time she looks at you, like you are a possession rather than a human, like you are hers. The sad part is that no one can deny it, you are hers and no one can help you.
Cocolia isn't afraid to get physical with you if you step out of line, she can't have you breaking her rules thats she sets for you, and in her opinion pain is the best way to learn, she doesn't really care if you break as well, if she can't get an obedient lover she would rather have a broken one. Second to most likely to break her darling due to all the physical abuse and uncare towards your feelings
"You are really testing my nerves here you know. It shouldn't be that hard to listen yet you always defy me, such stupidity needs to be punished"

thoughts on the cut episodes and ppls reactions 'n stuff
Since it was confirmed that a few more episodes of Hilda were written but cut, I do think the reaction of people finding this out is really interesting and not just because its fairly common in the industry and isint a sign of anything bad necessarily. I mean heck, in a weird way being behind the scenes and then seeing how people interpret things, what they take as important, what they think is a thread…all of that is interesting. When your job is basically trying to get people to pick up what you're putting down storywise its kind of a neat topic, because everyone communicates in their own way.
BTW before I keep going this is not a post to say dont crit/vent/complain/whatever about whatever the heck you want in hilda or any media, you do you. I think peoples honest takes are fascinating (said in victoria van gale voice) and even just people speaking their mind shows that they are interested and they care so that matters. Also not one singular post triggered this, its just been on my mind as I surface level read things so no stressies.
When It comes to the cut episodes, I'm seeing some people assume that whatever was cut would have fixed some of the crits they may have had about the season..and who knows, maybe yes? But I'd say ultimately probably not. Not because they dont include things that people want to see, or may have some topics people want expanded on ..but because thats just impossible in the grand scheme of things.
I mean this applies to shows in general, not just hilda. Every person who watches a show has their own idea of what the show represents to them. For some of its more of the surface events or characters where as others connect it with a deeper emotion. A lot of people respond to different tones of the episodes, which there are many. Some people prefer the one off adventures that stand alone as their own stories and others want to see more of a stronger through line. Some may see a new character and expect a new arc and thread, while others wonder why we couldn't've used a previously introduced character. Some may read between the lines more and others may take what is presented as very straight forward and literal …and no one is WRONG, because our big wrinkly brain meats all have their own tastes and ways of imputing information.
Television animation is rife with factors that actually futz with the quality and ability of the team to make a beautiful, amazing product like EVERY DAY. The script process and what goes into production is just one. The team is made up of many creatives all with their own varied experiences and voices just like the audience. In order for people to have their own voices and say, you are going to end up with some things that hit better then others, especially if the team is allowed to grow and experiment and play a little. Hilda has always been a show where we've been able to have a lot of creative say, and i think that sincerity comes through ! but with the sincerity and that humanity, it also means that there are going to be things that arnt going to make sense in the grand scheme of things lol. Even the writers and creators and producers have differing opinions on what to explore and dive into, probably more so then fandoms haha. Having more episodes may scratch some itches but not all, HECK, those episodes being cut could have re-allocated resources to other areas that helped elevate your fav ep of the season ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ who knows! Schrodinger's episodes! (also ngl I was having cold sweats over the scope of some of them as cool as they were. The season may have been shorter but it was intense..it takes a long time to do stuff that looks that clean and crisp)
Imperfect art is very human! Do the best you can at the time with the factors you have. I was given so much trust and freedom on my episodes, and I was just happy to do something fun that allowed me and my team to grow and learn. I was fucking STOKED to get a one off story because it was way less pressure for me to take my next step directing cuz just doing the thing is a feat. Any sincerity you feel cant come through if that means we're afraid that we cant make mistakes, or do a story choice ppl wont vibe with. All you can do is do the best you can, see if people are picking up what you're putting down, and grow from it for next time.
Anyway, just a thought ramble. Its not to say do or dont do this or think this way blah blah. I just love that storytelling is messy and complex and everyones gonna take it a lil differently, especially if you have a team where you allow lots of voices to have input. It is all just a big experiment to see if people leave with a particular experience by putting your resources into the things you have that matter, and try you best to distract from burnt edges or patched up holes that happened throughout the process of making the dang thing lol.

anyway kaisa with hilda after she starts dating johanna or even marries her
either way i don't think hilda would call her mum or smth like, she just doesn't and kaisa respects that. hilda calls her by her name and kaisa calls her 'kiddo' mostly, sorry not sorry.
also kaisa not very much liking anders but understanding he's important to hilda although he did hurt johanna with him leaving and basically being not a great co-parent/partner for most of time. she gives him a chance to be present now and she's not going to ruin it for hilda ((also my perosnal hc that her parents divorced when she was a kid bit it was pretty okayish so kaisa wants hilda to not ever have to hear how one step-parent bullshits on bio parent))
anders would be lowkey awkward with kaisanna happening but he's supportive, i imagine he tells kaisa something like "you're making her happy, i can tell that. she never smiled like this way with me". fight me but i believe johanna met anders in college and she admitted to him during breaking up she just can't feel anything towards men at all (she's a late bloomer lesbian!!!) and he has this "wild" thought that she may be lesbian but thinks that's not it. WELL
although hilda likes kaisa i believe she would have need some time to adjust. yk, it always been her and johanna, now the third one is coming and... hilda wants the best for her mum but she's only a child so it would be natural for her to be a bit battled about this. either way, she absolutely accepts it tho she's probably the last person to understand it, sorry not sorry (frida, david and louise know before her. they just do)
ALSO. johanna not accepting her lesbianism at first but trollberg is apparently pretty supportive place and kaisa definetely takes her to a gay bar. they also holds hands during bird parade they just do

I was looking at some Hilda stuff and saw some maps of trolberg/tofoten/the wilderness (huldrawood???) and I was reminded of I think what was one of your notes on Plenism where you were taking about naming stuff and I was very curious on where you'd place the places you came up with in reference to this stuff. (Also Plenism is so good).
OKAY first of all thank u sm i’m glad ur enjoying Plenism! Second of all oh boy anon you have just opened the BIGGEST can of worms, prepare yourself, i’m about to get real neurodivergent
So one of the things that has always confused and slightly annoyed me in Hilda is the inconsistent scale of it all. Trolberg, for example, is described as being this massive sprawling city, so far out and separate from the wilderness that it’s a completely new world for Hilda, and has it’s own unique holidays and celebrations.
But, if you look at a map of Trolberg it really doesn’t look that big, and the more ou learn about it the smaller it seems?? In the show, driving from Trolberg to the wilderness seems to take no time at all, and like the second you leave the wall it’s immediately greenery and wilderness lol. The city itself is crawling with nature! And it only gets more confusing when you read tie-in material, especially Hilda’s World.
The maps in this book are beautifully illustrated and contain almost all of the important locations seen in the show, but they make Trolberg seem tiny! And, according to this book, Trolberg has only one school, and one sparrow scout troop. Now I live in the absolute middle of nowhere, tiny island 4 hours away from the mainland. I went to school in a little town on the mainland, so small it was like barely a town, and it had 4 schools and a college just within the town (i.e. not counting the neighbourin villages and more rural schools), and 4-5 scout troops. This place was TINY, cities have WAY more, but Trolberg apparently only has one of each! Also, according to this book, Tofoten is so close to Trolberg that it’s considered an attraction for Trolberg visitors. What.
There’s a pretty simple explanation for this - there’s just no point in making more. From a creative perspective, Trolberg doesn’t need multiple schools or sparrow scout troops when the story only requires on each, it would be pointless! And when it comes to tie in bokos like Hilda’s World, 90% of people don’t actually want an extensive guide to the innerworkings of a fictional town, they just wanna see the places they got to know in the show. Same logic applies to the distance between Trolberg and The Wilderness, no one wants to watch Johanna and Hilda driving for 5 hours lmao, it’s just easier to skip that and make the journey seem shorter. Having locations be nearer eachother makes it easier for characters to quickly move around.
But. I’m deranged. I NEED detailed world building I REQUIRE detailed descriptions of how this place works I NEED to understand these character’s lives and what their day to day is like, sooo for Plenism and my general Laurenverse I have taken some creative liberties. I haven’t gotten rid of anything from the show, just sort of went “Yes, and—”
First things first I don’t consider Hilda’s World canon lol. In the sense that I don’t consider it to be the in universe guide to Trolberg and beyond it presents itself as, it’s just a fun lil silly book with gorgeous artwork !! I’ve kinda ragged on this book a bit but, i genuinely do love it it’s so pretty.
SO, I’ve upped the scale of Trolberg quite considerably. Hilda’s school is just one of many (Glasgow, the biggest city in Scotland, at a glance seems to have over 100 primary schools, so yeah), as is her Sparrow Scout Troop. It’s big enough that Hilda hasn’t even come close to seeing the whole city, and the area she and her family move into is pretty much brand new to Johanna and Lauren, who previously lived in a totally different side of the city.
Hilda’s old cabin, which I’ll call “Folke Cottage”, is approximately a 4-5 hour drive from Trolberg. This is to help drive home the isolation the lil family has living out in the wilderness.
Speaking of The Wilderness, I gave it a name - Frihäf! In the context of the show, the wilderness doesn’t really need a name (despite how frustrating it can be sometimes when key characters remain nameless for entire seasons, or in some cases the entire show, i actually like the element of realism the show creates by leaving certain characters unnamed. People don’t always ask eachother their names lol, especially kids! Idk i think its neat), but for Plenism I felt it needed one. Frihäf isn’t really a specific place, it’s just the name for this general wilderness area that the family live in, probably encompassing about a…1 hour to 2 hour radius? I’m bad at geography.
The next important location, this one unique to Plenism, is Tågstad! This is a little village about an hour away from Folke Cottage, and 3-4 from Trolberg. It has a little post office and shop, where Johanna can obtain essentials, but in order to get a lot of supplies, they have to go shopping in Trolberg. So, to avoid having to take baby Hilda into Trolberg, Johanna drives Lauren to Tågstad, where she then takes the train into Trolberg, get’s the shopping, and then comes back where Johanna picks her up. From Folke Cottage, Tågstad is the nearest stop on the train to Trolberg, and the little town acts as a “gateway” to many different destinations, such as Toføten, which, from Tågstad, is about 4-5 hours in the opposite direction from Trolberg, I think.
This is all very boring and technical, hence why the actual show didn’t bother with it lol, but I enjoy thinking of these technicalities! Maybe one day I’ll whip up a lil map or something, but even then i’ll prolly run into the same problem the canon maps do where everything seems very small in scale lol.
Oh, btw, Gröttavux is another town name that gets mentioned in The Roundabout, but I don’t have anything about it lol, I just needed another place name or Johanna to say whilst rambling to add in a cheeky wee bit of realism. Umm the only other thing I know about my Trolberg world building so far is that there’s multiple train stations within the city, one of them spits you out nearby some sort of shopping street or market, so that Lauren can easily access it without having to go too deep into the city, effectively restricting her Trolberg exploration to just one street, therefore still maintaining her disconnect from the city, so it’s still a difficult transition come season 1.
THANK U FOR ASKING THIS and letting me ramble about this shit, makes my brain very happy :). I might expand upon this more in future chapters of Plenism, but it depend! I have to be very careful to avoid dumping exposition on ppl when writing Plenism bc god damnit i would if i could. I’d write a whole chapter thats just johanna talking about the geography of the world. Thank you and goodnight

To be fair CF is just as much about found family than VW
Hi anon! I'm gonna link the post I talked about the Golden Deer here for clarity's sake lol.
I think when discussing themes of found family in different three houses routes, it's important to talk about Byleth. In a game where the single, main variable between possible futures is Byleth's interference, it means the story has to be written in a particular way--I mentioned this before when talking about character supports and endings; each character needs to be able to have a romantic ending with Byleth, which affects how their supports are written. In the case of the Lord's, this means you're given tangible reasons why you should've chosen them.
I mean. Let's be real here. Claude has the highest survivability rate of any character in the base game. He can't die if you're completing Verdant Wind (for obvious reasons), or Blue Lions. He's heavily implied to live to see another day in Silver Snow, and you can spare him in Crimson Flower! Edelgard and Dimitri die without the professor's stabilizing influence--but Claude? What does he lose without the professor.
That's sort of how I determine subtler themes of each route in a way--by comparing what you get with and without Byleth.
So when I argue that Verdant Wind is the most about found family, I mean it thematically; the other routes don't have tangible less found family, but without Byleth members of the Golden Deer just blatantly disappear unrecruited post time skip in several routes!
Without Byleth, the option for found family is removed for Claude in a big way, I personally feel, and not just by full recruitment runs lol. Not completely, of course--even in Crimson Flower a recruited Lorenz laments having to face off against Claude and Hilda is willing to die in defense of him and the city--but enough that it was blatantly shocking to me that if you don't recruit Marianne, she does not appear at all post time skip, no exceptions.
In a narrative sense, perhaps slightly unshocking; but in a practical sense? This leaves Claude without a healer.
Claude can't hold onto all his Deer even if you don't recruit any of them in the Academy phase. Silver Snow, Azure Moon, Crimson Flower--Marianne will always be gone; consistent, non variable. Depending on the route other characters like Lorenz might disappear as well.
The themes of found family are prevalent in all the routes, but since each route is pretty much defined by the Lord who leads it, I feel as though their personal relationship with the found family is most defining, if that makes sense.
People stand by Edelgard, Dimitri, and even Rhea for better, or for worse. Even recruited, characters like Felix make it abundantly clear that switching sides doesn't change the immense emotional attachment they have to their original lord.
This just. Isn't true for Claude.
Without Byleth, he doesn't get to keep everyone together. Without Byleth Hilda is recruitable in two routes. The idea that you could ever do the same with Hubert or Dedue is blatantly laughable.
Byleth's presence is what enables Edelgard, Dimitri, and Rhea to remain the most of themselves, if that makes sense. Edelgard's war strategy in Crimson Flower is a lot less aggressive and scorched earth then it is in the other two routes because she's had the professor as an emotional rock. Similarly for Dimitri, he's able to recover because Byleth is there to keep him alive and safe. And then Rhea will blatantly die in the Verdant Wind route where she doesn't in Silver Snow. Byleth, in every sense of the word, keeps these three characters alive and well.
But without her? They still inspire loyalty and devotion--unquestionable, again, if no recruitment takes place. Dimitri, Edelgard, and Rhea can all face up against you as enemies with the full force of their houses/allies (save for, oddly, Annette).
Claude does not.
Claude's whole route is about learning to trust others in a way that allows them to trust him. The Deer are devoted to Claude in Verdant Wind in a way they just, textually aren't otherwise, and that's due to Byleth's influence, both as a Professor to these individual students, and to Claude.
When I say that Verdant Wind is the most found family thematically to me, I mean it at a very base level. Claude knows he doesn't have what Dimitri and Edelgard seem to take for granted. It seems almost effortless, in Verdant Wind, the loyalty and devotion he inspires in his friends despite how often you, as Byleth, are told that Claude appears to be an untrustworthy and sneaky individual.
But it's easy to see in routes where you don't chose him that without Byleth, that image mantains. Claude is an outsider. And maybe he doesn't need Byleth in the way the other lords do to survive or achieve his dream (after all, there's nothing saying he can't open diplomacy with his former classmates after he goes back to Almyra so long as he lives to do so), but just as Byleth is uniquely able to be a peer to the Golden Deer, so can Claude uniquely trust and gain the trust of his house in full.
It's not as dramatic as the other two houses, and I think it's the point. Edelgard and Dimitri have already built a solid foundation of devotion and loyalty. Ferdinand and Felix (your "rival" characters in those houses) are loyal without Byleth, even if Ferdinand claims it's to guide her or if Felix complains every step of the way. Lorenz isn't. In Verdant Wind, you sort of take it for granted that everyone will be there at the reunion if they survived the Academy phase. Of course they will--they promised, didn't they?
But outside Verdant Wind, it's clear to see that you as the player took it for granted. And that's why I think Verdant Wind is thematically the most found family. It's not because the other routes don't love each other as much or aren't as complex or there isn't devotion. It's because fundamentally Verdant Wind is about Claude, for the first time in his life, having a group of people he can rely on and who will rely on him without hesitation. It's about the formation of found family, and how Claude doesn't need it to achieve his dreams, but man, does it give him something to achieve those dreams for.

I love hearing about your guys so I wanna ask - how do you think each of them feels about their adventure(s) as a whole? You've done really great at showing stuff that still haunts and affects them, but I'm curious about the overall opinion and attitude the different links have about what they've been through. And also Ravio
I love getting your asks 💛 I just suck at answering. OTL
I think this question could run really long, like I could go really into long form detail about this stuff, but since you asked about EVERYONE I'll try to write something manageable in size.
How does the gang feel about each of their canon story?
Sky - He feels like it all had to happen. It was a story written for them eras before he and Zelda were born, before Groose, Impa, Scrapper, maybe even before Fi... He tries to see it as a kind of honour, since everything worked out. He got to be an important piece of something that lead to saving the world and the people he loves. He's just happy to help! Really, no need to worry!
Twilight - He did love the people he got to meet and places he got to visit, Hyrule... No, the world is bigger than he could've ever imagined. He always knew Ordon Village was small, but wow. Wow... It's like a little chick, with a thousand beasts just beyond the woods. He's got to do something. He's got to be there for it.
Wild - He's chill ✌️ He's had a lot of time to think about things, and although it's a work in progress, he's finding peace with things.
Legend - At this point they feel like a tool to do what must be done, so that those who are safe from the horrors can continue to be so. He could complain, but eh. He'd rather see those people prosper than start fighting against the inevitable. Someone else would see this all as an honour, right?
Ravio - Well he thought he was going to watch the world end, so this all turned out pretty good! People try to tell him it was amazing of him to gather up the bravery to leave for Hyrule and aid the hero, but he can't help but to wonder if it was that ...or him fleeing. AH WELL, who cares. It all worked out! Let's just move on. He'll just apologize to Hilda one hundred times! What do you mean you don't want me to do that? Hilda? Hilda?? Come back I want to apolog-
Wind - Isn't it COOL?? He defeated TWO ancient evils. He did get lots of help! And he's very grateful! But he DID THAT! Ha suck it.
Yet... Why does it feel so off when he says that? He is so proud of what he's done, he loves the people around him, he's happy. Yet it feels like there's this giant boulder crushing him, or some deep hole he can't fill. What kind of nonsense is that...
Time - He's never truly belonged and never will, that's what he learnt. He was never a Kokiri, and he'll never be like the Hylians who he looks so much like. He grew up wrong and out of time. He doesn't even recognize the world he landed in. Guess he's glad the world is safe, but... When the journey is done, there's nothing but emptiness again.
Minish - He is the best most specialist little man, he saved Hyrule and his Grandpa is very proud. Zelda is so happy and he will do anything to make sure that stays!!!! He is so strong and special and capable and cannot be stopped for he will make everything MORE GOOD!!!!!!!

You played the golden deer route!! (I think?) What's been your thoughts so far just like in general but also in comparison to blue lions? Claude and the golden deer are just so fun!!
I have not finished yet! Yes I am like 5/6ths done with the Golden Deer fic. I did something that I really shouldn't do, which is like consume 1/4th of the media and go "okay I could make a fanfic out of this" and then write a long-ass fic just based off initial impressions (this is how Theater of the Absurd happened - if you're wondering why everybody was so drastically out of character, that's why). I'm still only mostly done with the Academy phase, so no spoilers!
Thoughts so far? Claude is so funny. I am genuinely so, so fascinated by him. He's one of those characters who clearly has an entire existence and situation and insanity and you're just barely privy to the surface of it. Our C support is me walking into his room (why did I do that?) as he concocts poisons. He's a mad scientist. He wants to dissect his friends like they're insects. He's incredibly self-absorbed. He's convinced he's the smartest person in the room. He's on his gap year and he's taking a vacation with the white people and the country he leads is not his biggest priority. He wakes up in the morning, looks at himself in the mirror, and says "I'm a SCHEMER I'm a TRICKSTER I'm IMPENETRABLE I'm NOT LONELY". He has a biracial narrative and it's left him with a superiority complex because the alternative is to always be inferior. He'd be a better leader if he cared more.
I love Hilda also. She's so cunning but so kind, and her competence is underlined by her severe self-esteem issues. I haven't really connected with most of the Golden Deer - their ensemble narrative is not NEARLY as strong as the Blue Lions or Ashen Wolves. They aren't all part of the same story, I feel like. I'm still working on their supports (which are mostly C and some B right now...I kinda substituted most of them on the battlefield for the AW...sorry I have faves). Most of them are either a little annoying or uninteresting...Lysithea baby girl...Lorenz is actually deeply Felix coded in that he's kinda the sanest. He cares about all of the actually important things that nobody else cares about when they really should, and a lot of unimportant things,
I didn't expect this to happen, but Claude as your BFF actually deeply underscores how 1) Dimitri is insanely in love with you, and 2) Dimitri's bugfuck. Claude's so normal about everything. Makes me go "Wow Dimitri was normal about fucking nothing".
I'm looking forward to the War Phase and seeing how things change. These kids are fucking disasters in their lives and to each other, which mirrors their disaster country. Right now Claude's the most fascinating aspect to me. I'm not plugged into the fandom, but from what I can see his complexity and depth is kind of slept on - he has a comic relief role in dynamics, but I can already tell it's pretty constructed. Writing him as a jokester is like writing Dimitri as a preppy, perfect, adorably awkward nerd. Yes, that is a major part of how they present themselves to the public. I can't entirely call it a lie. But if you think that those performances are genuine, then you're buying what they're selling. Claude, Dimitri, and Edelgard are liars, and if you stay surface level in your depiction you're scrubbing out what makes them good characters. Also, especially in Dima's case, The Point

Gimmie Hilda or Minfilia!! (from @tsunael)
Hilda, yes!! I have Minfilia coming in another ask, too. 👀
Tumblr media
Meeting Hilda is one of the most bizarre moments of Aureia’s life. She had a sense of what life was like for half-elezens in the city due to some of the weird microaggressions made towards her when people didn’t recognize her as the Warrior of Light, but because she’s not from Ishgard, she didn’t really fully know what it all entailed. Aureia doesn’t think much of being half-elezen. It wasn’t really a factor for her growing up; there was far more emphasis on her and her family being non-native Garleans than divisions between Hyur and Elezen. So the whole situation in Ishgard is odd, uncomfortable, and hurts her brain when she thinks about it too much.
So tracking Hilda across the city, slowly putting the pieces of the puzzle together to figure out who the Mongrel is, Alphinaud making some very bizarre comments about the appearance of the person they’re searching for…
(Aur thinks it’s both hilarious and also very weird that he calls Hilda’s features “striking” when he’s literally been attached to Aureia’s hip this whole time—Aureia who is also a half-elezen with "raven hair" and "ruby red eyes", it was just a bit of a… “say what now, Alphinaud?” moment for her jokes on me for unintentionally designing my WoL to look like an NPC THIS WAS NOT PLANNED.)
Aureia warms to Hilda right away. They don’t immediately become friends—there’s too much going on for that—but Hilda’s a pretty steady presence in her life and the reason that she finally becomes comfortable in Ishgard. They get along really well. They have similar senses of humour. Hilda’s much more brash and extroverted than Aureia is, but they are both headstrong, prone to teasing the people they like, and will not put up with bullshit.
(One common bit of bullshit is people mistaking them for each other or assuming they are sisters—they are both very much not pleased with that, although Aur does think it’s hilarious that Hilda could be her for a day if she really tried.)
Hilda brings a very firm sense of normalcy to Aureia’s life. She’s also not afraid to confront her on her habits or if she thinks she’s being an idiot. There are times when Aur is a bit envious of her—she’s envious of how easy it is for her to be social, how casual relationships/romance/sex are a breeze for her, and it really has less to do with Hilda herself and more about Aureia seeing something that comes naturally to others that she very much wants but has kind of given up on and doesn’t know how to go about navigating it on her own terms.
There’s a bit of tension that develops between them because Aureia is still figuring out what her feelings for Thancred are (fact: messy) and she finds out (possibly in the worst way) that Hilda is having a casual thing with him. She’s upset, but at the situation (and at Thancred, and at herself), not at Hilda.
The end result of this is—Aureia ends up with Aymeric (the healthy option), Hilda’s casual thing ends since it was bothering her friend, Thancred wasn’t worth it anyway, and Aureia’s happiness is way more important than that.
Anyway, tl;dr—they’re best friends. Solid. They love each other, they’ll always be there for one another.
Just don’t call them sisters.
[ask me my OC's opinions on NPCs!]

HI CAS! 😁 it’s that time of month again… 🎄🎅❄️☃️ are you a christmas music enjoyer? what’s your november reading looked like? what are the final books you’ll read in 2023? any wintery vibes these are all important questions
I always think I've become indifferent to if not completely turned off by christmas music but just last weekend my coffee shop was playing 'christmas (baby please come home)' n I was like hell yeah this song rules...... & one time my crabby hater coworker put on springsteen's 'santa claus is comin to town' for me + that was such a kodak Magic Of Christmas moment for me I was like wait the grinch really does have a soul.... im a sporadic xmas music enjoyer merely by happenstance 🧘‍♀️ + my november reads were magical!!!
Tumblr media
Regarding the Pain of Others by Susan Sontag
wanted to pair this with Powers of Horror: An Essay on Abjection by Julia Kristeva as a brief little study on representing/projecting and relating to terror but this one was so apt that I thought it'd be best standing alone and allowed to sink in for the month. really interesting/important points about the origins of the 24 hour news cycle + "the CNN effect" + a mass desensitization to the suffering of others, disheartening but necessary things to understand especially now when every feed is so casually interspersed with it. and ofc Sontag is just so graceful with her framing of ideas that I think this is quite an accessible read to those who've never ventured into philosophy/theory
Manila Noir edited by Jessica Hagedorn
MILF (MAN I LOVE FILIPINOS)!!! learning that I maybe love crime fiction? or maybe specifically written by Filipinos bc the Philippines is kinda the perfect place for so many intersections/dissections of class and power and exploitation and all the things that make crime/mystery so juicy to me. the selection here was so strong, I think I ended up shelving something by each of the contributors I could find english translations for. so many women too which rules x10000. also saw that this is part of a series of 'noir' collected works based around a specific area (like SF, Brooklyn, Mumbai, Istanbul, etc) which I think is a super cool concept and I can't wait to track down the others. think this is gonna have to be a noirvember tradition
With my Dog Eyes by Hilda Hilst
read this in one sitting before a wedding so it's admittedly a bit of a blur/I didn't get to sit with it as much as I should have bc Hilst's prose is so dizzying (in a good way!!!) but I've asked for one of her translated works for xmas so I'll defo be giving that one my full + stoic attention 🧘‍♀️ I can vaguely remember the shape of the story but what most sticks out to me when reflecting is really specific phrases... the gold of your name — an armless embrace of you — sado-slippery I’m sweating and laughing... I'm empty of anything good. Full of the absurd.... just really gorgeous syntax and images and I can see why Hilst + Lispector's styles are compared so often
Live Through This: On Creativity and Self-Destruction edited by Sabrina Chap
admittedly wanted to hate this from the very start with Amanda Palmer's intro ugh like I braced myself for this to be some corny contrived #AngryWomenInArt but I ended up adoring this and hating myself for my initial haterisms.... women in art is actually so real..... really great + diverse selection of artists (I was worried this would be overwhelming white + cis + het but luckily it wasn't!) and it honestly didn't even occur to me to read this as like a guide on how to work through/with creativity, but rather glimpses into other artists' processes and journeys with their own creativity (I initially picked this up for Eileen Myles I think). so personal and honest and inspiring because of that intimacy and honesty. felt good when I recognized some of the other names too, but ofc added a bunch to my TBR as well. made me miss rookiemag and generally a time when feminism didn't seem so glazed in layers of girlboss irony + terfism real bad </3
Smaller and Smaller Circles by F.H. Batacan
MILF PT. 2!!! another Filipino crime fiction win.. I did see the reveal coming the moment the character was introduced but all the build-up made it worth it. I loved that no form of power was safe from criticism—sleazy priests/prominent figures from the church, useless police, sensationalist media, mayors blind to the true needs of their community, the smaller and smaller circles (hehe) of unchecked trauma and abuse, the ways these all tie together to inevitably harm those without a voice or pedestal.. does such a great job shining a light on the hypocrisy and corruption of it all which isn't specific to the Philippines but from the few Filipino works I've read, it really does feel like a reoccurring core theme. with such a vengeance too! watched the movie adaptation last night which cut out a lot of the good/necessary stuff in my opinion but the vibes + casting were spot on so it was just cool to see the gritty world come to life in that way
Near to the Wild Heart by Clarice Lispector
BONK this was everything to me like exactly the kind of writing I've been aching for since I was a teenager........ a similar blissful dizziness that I felt reading Hilst — gorgeous sensual painfully moving prose, it's wild to me that a work of fiction could hold this much introspection, each character's state of mind so crystal clearly expressed you can't help but feel a little lost in it. and this is her first book??? I'm thrilled just thinking about how she could possibly hone her craft in later works, I'm so excited to see for myself. this is a sidebar but I pretty much lost all my steam for creative/fiction writing during the pandemic and randomly pushed myself to get back into it in october and between this + Hilst's book I rly do feel more inspired than ever..,. crazy what some beautiful & dreamy sentences can do to you!!
i DONT want to prematurely toot any horns but I think I may actually reach my original reading goal of 50 books this year? just started the last book (Something Wicked This Way Comes) in the 'dark boyhood' trio I planned with my friend and it's going by super fast (probably because it's a childrens book basically LOL) and then I checked out Nana vol 1 & 2 bc I found out my library randomly has them (despite never having anything else I'm ever looking for... like ok) and I usually whiz through graphic novels. I think I may read Powers of Horror as mentioned earlier to balance out the fiction, and I downloaded a few free books by Palestinian authors from here (free to download til Dec 5th) so I'll choose from one of those.. maybe end the year with some poetry, all of which isn't necessarily wintery but simply reading my lil book w a hot drink is cozy enough <3

Evil Queen / Hag x Reader || Excerpt
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Plot: 🧫🧪 The scene where she cooks up the potion 🧫🧪 and transforms into a Hag 🧫🧪 *just something quick while I'm watching OUAT!
Warnings: Her ugliness 😂
Tagging: @asperol-with-izzy , @disney-android-foundation , @lady-love88 , @marinerainbow , @ryantryan6969 and @spookiifi . I hope you like this! ^^ xo
You're sat on Hilda's work bench in a spot free of dusty books and dangerous vials as she potters around. Well, more than potters. She's very busy, creating a drink that would make her a hag; make her unassuming, and unrecognisable.
When she told you that this was her plan, that she would go to Snow in the woods and treat her with a special apple... you were sad, because an innocent girl would die and there was nothing you could do about it (opposing the Queen is never was wise, not even for her love. You're always half afraid that she'll throw you away, no matter how many times she proves that you matter), but you were also excited. Callous, you're aware. But you loved to watch her in her true element. Watching her at her dressing table was one thing, but this? Hidden away in the grotty, lonely dungeons she barely uses because she rathers executions (Loose ends... she always says); This was your favourite.
Thick dust flies off of her spell book (From the others, not from it) when she pulls it out of the shelf and her fingers run smoothly over the crisp pages, her poisonous eyes gliding over the words she's already so familiar with. You know that she's combed through these pages before a million times; It's her before bed book, it's her breakfast book, it's the book she obsesses over for days on end and writes notes upon notes about. The potion she cooks boils and bubbles and changes colour and the smell burns your nostrils, but she doesn't flinch.
You love to see her here. She's beautiful and she thinks it's the most important thing about her... but it's not. This is what makes her amazing; makes her set your blood on fire when you think about her.
As she takes a sip of the drink, under the light of the moon slipping in through the bars in the tiny window here, you watch her beauty dissapear. It's torn from her, by her own hand, and your love doesn't flicker for a second.
Hilda's lovely black hair turns grey and splits at the ends, her cute little nose grows out from her face and develops a curve as well as nasty boils, her fingernails grow and turn yellow and chip, her fine clothes wither away to rags and the skin left on her bone's sag. Once it's all complete, leaving Hilda a weathered and beaten old hag, she takes a moment to 'admire' herself.
"I'm a worthless, ugly old crone!" With a delighted cackle, fully amused by her new look and taking pride in her magic, Hilda turns to you with those new deep-set, harrowing bug-eyes. She points a knobbly finger your way, an unkept nail almost scraping your cheek. "And you, dear- tell me, how do I look? Beautiful, hm?... "
... staring into that wrinkled old face and the smile there which is almost toothless, your grin twists downwards, a filthy taste on you tongue. "... love, you're positively gruesome."
"Agh- " She clutches her chest, and takes a moment to breath. You know that everything in her is at odds - her need to be fair and her desire to excel in her chosen profficiency, - , hearing a statement like that- especially from you. It's a small betrayal. "... painful to hear, but for my purpose today; perfect."
"Thats my girl."
... here, Hilda rolls her terrifying eyes at you. She gives a 'puh' sound, shakes her head, and shuffles off to prepare Snow's 'treat'.
She picks out a round, yellowing apple - mkdway between ripe and moulding, - and ties a strand of string around the stem. Then she dips it into a bubbling green couldron thay looks like if you stood too close, your eyeballs might burst directly inside their sockets. It sizzles and fizzles, and dissapears.
The most beautiful apple, round and ruby red, surely juicy with an excellent and crisp crunch... and extra zing... comes out.
"Mm," Your mouth waters just looking at it, but you straighten up in an effort to not get any closer to it. "Uh, looks delicious.
"Oh it will be- just not for long." You watch the woman hobble right past you then, almost tripping on her shroud. "I'm off to poison a princess!!~ " She sings, her voice a freaky, shrill sound and giggling as she places the fruit in a basket. "Hehehe!~ "
Lord, she reminds you of Rumplestiltskin right now. Instead of telling her that though, you go with an old faithful. "Love you, darling~ "
"Yes, whatever!"

For the ask game - 15, 17 and 30?
15 - do you know first aid or have magical healing skills?
I have super glue for holding together minor cuts. That's kinda magic, right?
17 - have you ever cosplayed as a LoZ/LU character or do you plan to someday?
I have two and a half LoZ cosplays! Sort of. They aren't very good but I did have fun with them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first is BotW Zelda's royal blue dress, which turned out much better than I thought. The belt didn't hold up very well, though, because the fake leather I got didn't glue very well. I wore it to a mini anime convention a few years ago with a friend who dressed as Link. XD
The second is based on super smash bros ultimate Zelda, which is based on Link Between Worlds Zelda. This one was for Halloween, and my first experiment using foam pieces. It worked out pretty well for what it is, and wearing a cape was fun.
I have a lot of pieces for Skyward Sword Zelda as well! She's almost done, in fact, but I don't have her dress yet. I do have most of her accessories though, including pockets in her blue waist apron thing and a sailcloth :)
I don't currently plan on any more LoZ cosplays. I've thrown around the idea of doing a BotW/ToTK NPC, but I currently have an FE3H Hilda technically in-progress and don't want to add another yet! (My workspace was taken over so I haven't made progress on it in a while.)
30 - tell me a story about an adventure you went on!
Hm, not a lot of weird stuff happens to me, but how's this!
A few years ago, I was very active on the institute council, and helped plan a Halloween activity for the young adults in my area through my church. It was essentially just music in the gym of the big building, that isn't the important part. The important part is that I went off on the outfit and hair:
Tumblr media
It was a lot of fun! I enjoyed dressing up and from what I remember of the event, it was nice. I enjoy being involved in organizing events. (I met sir King👑of🌹Goth💀 there, too, that's a different story though.)
Wellllll as you can see, my hair that night was both colored black and backcombed a lot. The black was from a jar of semi-permanent color (I'm not sure the brand sells black anymore, to my dismay) and the backcombing was courtesy of my sister. I needed some clarifying shampoo to get the color out and some strong conditioner to help get the teasing out.
So after the event, at like 2 AM, I went to Walmart with my friend. Nothing unusual happened, besides the few people also shopping giving me looks. But it was 2 AM at a Walmart around Halloween, so.
I don't really dress up as dramatically as this every day, but I have become a lot more comfortable dressing the way I want to! Honestly a lot of my favorite outfits are amalgamations of pieces I've gathered since high school, over nearly 10 years now. It's taken a while to curate a closet I like, but I like where it is, and how it's going!
(Clothes and the way I present are important to me, and I want to emphasize that it's taken a while to get to where I am, and I'm still not where I always wanted to be! If clothes are important to you, too, let me say: high school is only the beginning. Collect stuff you like and don't be afraid to let go of stuff you don't. You don't need a single style and it's a good idea to experiment! I have a lot of goth type clothes, but I've also collected a fair amount of stuff in the vein of different vintage and academia styles. Some of my favorite clothes don't fit into my usual goth outfits. Just... If clothes are important to you, know that you can get where you want to be. Experiment and don't think you have to conform to any one or two styles. You're unique and so are your choices of style!! Sorry for the long paragraph. This is something I wish I could tell my younger self! You don't need to be perfect right now. You're not falling behind. You're doing great. :) You'll get there.)
Anyway that's the story. Not much to it. I went to Walmart at 2AM for shampoo with a faux deathhawk. I went to Harmon's once last year with an Iowa Hawkeyes hoodie and a full face of dramatic goth makeup too. It's fun. I've had mothers scoot their kids away from be before and I think that's hilarious

Rating Call the Midwife Characters because I have watched nine and a half seasons and I can
Jenny - girl you got us rolling but you were mediocre af 5/10
Trixie - somehow she is the best and worst of femininity at all times and is just like. Amazing and I love her and also god my eyes are broken from rolling them too hard 8/10
Chummy - truly one of the most perfect women of all time but she married a cop (alas) 8/10
Shelagh - do I forgive her for abandoning her vows and running off to be with the man she loves? No. But do I adore her anyways? Yes 7/10
Dr. Turner - here is the thing. I don't forgive him either. But also he's A GOOD MAN and I LIKE HIM A LOT. I feel like people think that the reason he's hot is because of his face but it's actually because in his decade of service he has never once talked down to or ignored the expertise of his midwife colleagues and listens to women so although he's not one of the girlies he can also have 7/10
While we're here, Tim - you were the most interesting when you had polio and aspirations of a mother sorry bud 4/10
Patsy - on the one hand she was a lesbian, which gives her high marks, but I don't remember, like, anything else about her so.... 6/10
Barbara - FUCKING BARBARA GHSKALAALFB I DON'T EVEN KNOW. But like I can't blame her for leaving the show when I love Ghosts even more. 6/10 despite everything.
Phyllis - nurse Crane my beloved. I respect her. She's very organized and practical and I do just feel like organized, practical women are great. Anyways no need to read into that at all 9/10
Valerie - VALERIE. Valerie. She was cool but I feel like she just... never got an arc. she got some trauma and some woes definitely but idk about an arc. 6/10
Lucille - she is SO NICE but she doesn't believe in SINNING which makes me sad but she's a sweetheart and is so kind during the bad times 7/10
Cyril - I have always loved that part where he's a pastor but only on the inside lol 6/10
Fred Buckle - truly a perfect man. No notes 10/10
Violet Buckle - I am so obsessed with Violet. I feel like the only reason she is nice is because she is married to Fred but if she was just introduced to the show, unattached, then she would be what we in showbiz call an Antagonist and yet she still lets it pop up sometimes 5/10
Reggie - I love him 7/10
Mrs. Higgins - desperately want to know what kind of lady this actress is irl because she is either absolutely hilarious or completely unhinged but as a character I don't care for her 3/10
Sister Julienne - um she's my mom and also she's your mom and maybe she's everyone's mom and ever since she went to see The Sound of Music by herself to showcase her crisis of faith I have just completely melted about her 15/10
Sister Evangelina - I JUST WANT TO BE A MEAN NUN WHEN I GROW UP BECAUSE OF HER SHE'S SO GOOD I LOVE HERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR 50/10
Sister Mary Cynthia - she was SO GOOD and then..... god. 5/10 heartbreak emoji
Sister Winifred - 😬 ummm I just didn't care. Sorry 3/10
Sister Hilda - not even Sister Julienne's bff smh 4/10
Sister Frances - BABY NUN!!!! SHE IS THE BABY NUN WITH PCOS I LIKE HER A LOT!!! BABY NUN!!! 11/10
And yes I know you are all obviously waiting for the most important character of the whole show and who just lives on another level compared to every other character because she is
SISTER MONICA JOAN - MY HEART MY SOUL MY MIND MY STRENGTH I AM SITTING ON THE COUCH NEXT TO YOU AND WE ARE ARGUING ABOUT WHAT TO WATCH ON TV TOGETHER AND SHE GETS TO BE A HERETIC AS A LITTLE TREAT ALWAYS 1000/10 💖🙌🤩😘💕 SISTER MONICA JOAN WOOOOOOOOO

My review of Hilda season 3
A proper review. One without spoilers. I've been thinking about making this today. I'm still going to not tweet or post a lot; I want to keep my word on that. I'd rather retweet some important stuff. But I want to make a review on the entire season and give out more reasonable thoughts.
Yesterday, after two years of waiting. The third and final season of Hilda finally premiered on Netflix. And I have some stuff to say about this final season. Including as someone who's been following this show for five years.
I'm going to be honest, despite this final season only being shortened to 8 episodes. With 7 regular ones to the finale being legit movie length in a way. And whatever issues I and others may have with it. The final season of Hilda delivers an emotional final chapter for this show. Including this time, focusing more on Hilda's family which also introduces a new character by the name of Great Aunt Astrid.
And what makes this season interesting is that compared to the other seasons and the movie. This is not based upon any books. This is all new territory that surely still surprise a lot of people.
I want to admit something. And again, I am not trying to spoil anything huge. But considering the season is shortened. I was hoping that certain characters would get expanded upon or well, we get to see them one last time before the show ends. Mainly where they are now after the events of The Mountain King. I'm talking about characters like Erik Ahlberg, the Bellkeeper, the Marra and some others.
It's disappointing we don't see more of them. But to be honest, in exchange for that, we get a final season focuses more on the two characters I consider the heart of the show. And that's Hilda and Johanna, who is also possibly in her biggest role in the show yet considering she gets a lot more focus this time around. And to be honest, with how the story goes throughout the season. I actually prefer that much more than whatever else.
Would I have liked it if they did 13 episodes again? I wouldn't mind. But I still loved what we got. And honestly, I think some people are merely disappointed that this season, we get answers to some things to stuff people didn't want answered. But to me, I try to keep my expectations in check, and I rather see what the writers want to showcase to us. And honestly, the fans like me can explore some "Loose ends" in our own stories. And to be honest, it's not like this stuff is eating away at us. The Mountain King felt like a fitting closure to the show. But I'm so glad season 3 exists because of what it decides to explore and ending the show on such a beautiful note.
All the actors do a fantastic job as always. Such as Bella Ramsey, Daisy Haggard and everyone else. Especially with the time skip they decided to do. Having these characters grow up a little bit to me is a good decision. To showcase these characters are still growing. Yes, I'm one of the people who didn't mind Hilda growing a few more inches.
The show still has its very funny moments. But what was surprising about season 3 is how well...this is possibly the darkest the show has gotten. And somehow the scariest. Which may sound really stupid. But I swear to God as the show goes on. With the unraveling mystery about these "Two hooded" figures. There are times I legit worried for these characters.
I even felt like there was a contrast in tone between chapters 1 and 2. With chapter 1 feeling like a fantastical return to this world I've loved watching. And chapter 2 I swear, I feel like I'm watching something akin to Silent Hill. Which sounds like a very stupid comparison. And then there's chapter 6 where I am scared for these characters I have cared about for so long. It really says a lot even in a show like this, and the fact this isn't based upon any existing material. It gives you a feeling when you've grown attach to these characters and seeing them in some of these situations. Whether harmless or not.
I swear, I felt uneasy during certain moments. Because I now understand a certain friend of mine and whoever else. I just felt even more genuinely worried for these characters. In fact, there is a scene that I told my best friend RySenkari, "I HATE THAT F***IN SCENE!" not because it was bad or anything. But because let's say my...the show really tugged at my heartstrings or something. Because there was no way they were going to do that, you don't do that to me.
In a funny yet sick way of looking at it. I think I went through my "Mr. Stark, I don't feel so good." moment because again, I hate that scene in the finale.
Yet that also grows into how far these characters have grown since the first season. How much they have changed since we first met them. And it's a beautiful thing when see them succeed.
The soundtrack by I think it's still Ryan Carlson is still powerful as always. That I want this soundtrack to be released on YT and Amazon Music soon. It's likely the best the score for this show has ever been. Also, the main theme by Grimes is beautiful as always.
Also, I've been wondering about changing my header/background images again. The ones you see on my Tumblr and Twitter accounts. I'll even do the same for my PlayStation profile's background.
The animation is fantastic as always. The scenery is beautiful as always. I feel like I have nothing else much to say. But it's merely me just loving this season. Yet compared to the earlier ones, I feel...hesitant to rewatch it. Again, this may sound stupid. This is the tensest the show has been. And the writers somehow made this more intense than some things they pulled in season 2 and The Mountain King. Those mad geniuses. And this is a show that's geared towards kid but everyone in general. That speaks volumes of how good the writers are.
And while there were some reveals that I feel little bothered by. But I still liked what they delivered. Again, that finale...that finale is something.
Again, despite it being only 8 episodes. Season 3 is pretty an emotional final journey for the fans of this show. A humorous, yet pretty scary at times adventure that pretty much makes you cry over these characters if you've become attached to them. It had that effect on that. I talked about my reaction. I'll admit, I do think maybe my...Autism might've had an effect of how I reacted. It likely did, but I'm not going to bring that up again. It's something I just wanted to mention.
I'm wondering if I should say anything else. But I want to be done with this review. I don't think I have nothing else to add other than the fact if you've haven't watched Hilda yet. I highly recommend watching seasons 1, 2, The Mountain King and season 3 right now. If you have time that is. December is the perfect time to watch this show. I talked about how this show feels kind of perfect to watch it during this time of year. I assure you; you will not be disappointed. And hopefully, if you've read my reaction to season 3, you'll understand how I felt.
And especially with how stressful the last few weeks have been. Watching Hilda again is always a great thing. I'm still not leaving this fandom. I will always love this show. But right now, I'm going to take it easy a bit. I'm not going to post a lot, make any manips and whatever else. I'm going to try to relax a bit. It's weird this time around I have a job now in the morning and I couldn't or well...I didn't want to lay in bed after I finished the show. I stood up all night after finishing it. Luckily, I took a 5-hour nap before that.
Again, thank you Luke Pearson and everyone who has worked on bringing this beautiful show to life. I'll never forget this. I'm always going to cherish what you all made. You made me and others so happy with what you've made.

I didn't know you played fe3h! If you've got the time, I'd love to hear your thoughts about the game, favorite character, favorite house, etc! Have you played any of the other Fire Emblem games?
HI YOU UNLOCKED PANDORA'S BOX I WILL NEVER SHUT UP ABOUT FE3H GIVEN THE CHANCE.
I love love LOVE it. Recently I only play on hard or maddening mode, usually with New Game+, because I actually really enjoy the "repetitive" nature of the combat and playing on a more difficult level requires me to think a little bit more about tactics + makes me feel more accomplished when I level up or unlock a support chain. Otherwise I think some characters are like. Totally broken in how strong they are and it lowkey makes the combat portion of the game less technically rewarding.
Favourite character just on an overall basis is by far Dedue and it's not even close. I love everything about him and could base an entire post on him alone. I think he's so complex and his relationship with Dimitri (and the entire Blue Lions house, really), beyond just my shipping of them, is so zealous and important to me as a narrative. When I unlocked their final support and it's revealed to us that Dedue, in his heart, has always wanted the same thing as Dimitri - to be able to call him a friend, to be able to call Dimitri by his name, as equals, argh I could cry just thinking about it. He is so kind hearted, he is so gentle, he is so funny, he is so Good. (CF route Dedue doesn't exist to me because if he Did then I would be in a catatonic state of sadness for the rest of my life, and SS/VW Dedue also makes me too sad to think about, but AM Dedue, cries, all his supports are really so very interesting)
And then in no order past that, my favourites are Dimitri, Sylvain, Felix, Petra, Edelgard, Hilda, and Linhardt. (Ok maybe it's a little bit in order...) Gameplay wise especially I love Dimitri and Hilda, I think they're utterly overpowered, and I recruit Felix no matter what house I go into... Felix is like my easy win when it comes to battle, he simply dominates. Half the time he is my MVP because I send him off alone knowing he'll do the vast majority of the work without ever getting hit back lol
My favourite house is so obvious through my favourite characters - I'm just too partial to the Blue Lions, I'M SORRY I'M SORRYYYYY they have the Faerghus Four... and DimiDue... and Sylvix... and Mercedes my forever wife (I literally marry her EVERY TIME... my big booby nurse wife)... and Ashe who is my underdog archer 5ever... All the support chains in Blue Lions makes my heart really fluttery and happy, I think they feel overall like the house that is closest to each other? Ingrid and Felix have their issues with Dedue (though to be fair Felix has a grand issue with everybody in the beginning except Annette it seems LMAO) but I think barring that (which gets mostly resolved anyway) I think they're a very tight-knit group with mutual love and care for one another in a way that seems inherent to the house. Those things seemed to be needed to be honed a little bit more in the other houses through exposure to each other and effectively experiencing the war together. I think the Golden Deers, to me, felt the coldest to each other in the beginning.
Which brings me to say that my next favourite house would have to be the Golden Deers. They are so, so, so, so damn funny and lonely and nuanced and the dynamics within the house are so animated and chaotic, WAY more than the other houses. I blame Claude, Hilda, and Lysithea's presence LOL, both of whom I love deeply - I think the GD's make for an incredibly funny ensemble cast and Lorenz's general existence is like a threat to human kind I'm mostly obsessed.
And then it would be the Black Eagles. The Beagles have some of my favourite support chains in the game, I really love them. I can't explain it briefly, but there's something that feels very poignant and heavy about playing the BE house. For me it's a very different experience than playing the other houses because the relationships they build feels so tied to past and emerging pains that there feels to be a perpetual tension even after I finish playing (and, again, I always recruit Felix so the BE/CF route becomes EXTRA trauma central, Felix's dialogues are actually heartbreaking in this route and I am still not normal about from the first time I had to face the fact of WHAT I DID TO HIM WHEN I RECRUITED HIM TO THE CF ROUTE...) Also Beagles has Caspar/Dorothea support chain and it actually makes me howl laughing every time I go through it. I love Caspar.
Quick irrelevant side note, it's still stupid to me we couldn't bring Jeralt back. I honestly never care to complain about "lazy writing" for games like this because there's SO MUCH WRITING to be done that like, yeah, fine I get that Jeralt had to die, but "it's fate" doesn't cut it for me. I'd rather Jeralt died away from Byleth so that Byleth had absolutely no possibility of reviving Jeralt or even trying to save him.
Another side note, Felix not being able to have MLM endings is the biggest mistake the game ever made. How do you write one of your gayest characters to be straight. And you know what, on that note, I don't believe in Bi Linhardt either - we need more bi guys in general and then Linhardt should be gay, NO WOMAN deserves to deal with his BS lmao.
Last side note, F!Byleth is the real Byleth. I only ever play M!Byleth on my CF routes because I always marry Linhardt and he is strictly MLM to me fhufhskdjf
I haven't played the other Fire Emblem games but I have plans on playing FE: Awakening and maybe FE Warriors: Three Hopes if only to see DimiDue interacting again with new support chains :3c I watched it already but I want to earn it.... Ask away if somehow there is something I DIDN'T cover - thank you a million times for the ask, I love FE3H so very deeply and will always talk about it given the chance....
