“I’m sorry, it’s not you, it's me.”
Heinrich’s face was splashed with water as the girl ran off crying, a three month relationship ended with a cry and a sigh. He didn’t want to hurt her feelings, he just felt he couldn’t lie anymore.
As he walked the high school’s hallway, he could hear them whispering. Talking about him like he wasn’t here.
“There he goes, the heartbreaker.”
“I wonder who he’s dating now?”
“That poor girl.”
He kept to himself and continued to his class.

Heinrich stared at the ceiling of his shared dorm, listening to his boyfriend’s gentle snores. During college he discovered that he was gay and met Thomas at chemistry class and hit it off pretty well, they went out on dates and got close.
Heinrich loves him.
He just hadn't expected love to be so… mundane.
He wasn’t complaining, not exactly. Thomas was handsome and funny and Kind, with him, everything was exciting! Except…romance.
Should he have felt something else? he felt safe and in good company… But beyond desire, beyond friendship, shouldn't there be some kind of… spark?
He turned to see Thomas' face, still sleeping peacefully.

“Why do you want to break up?” He asks Heinrich, tears welled up in his eyes. He thought that he could soften the blow by taking him to his favorite restaurant.
“I’m…I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you.” Heinrich said “We could still be friends if it’s possible.”
He struggled to keep face as he stood up, “It’s…it’s okay, I need some time to think.”
“Of course.” Heinrich knew he was lying.

Agent Hyde was sitting on the couch in the counselor's lounge, reading catch-22 peacefully. He hears a knock on the door, looking up he sees Becky poking her head though the doorway.
“Hello Rebecca.”
“Hey Hyde,” She waves “I’m going to a speed date event, wanna come with me?”
He closes his book and looks at her. “You realized that I’m aromantic, right?
“Aw, but won't you be lonely by yourself forever?"
"Not being married or dating someone doesn't mean I'm alone. That sort of relationship isn't the only thing that makes life worthwhile, you know."
They looked at each other before bursting into laughter. He wiped a stray tear from the corner of his eye.
“Just joshing with you man.”
Hyde rolled his eyes smiling, “Yes Rebecca I know, have fun.”
“You too.” she said leaving him be.

Younger Adventure or Experience They Had, Pre-T7S: Jackie/Hyde
I have several headcanons (and I'm sure I could come up with more 😅), but I'll write one of them.
In tenth grade, Hyde spots Jackie being bullied by two junior girls. He walks up to the three of them and says to Bully One, "Oh, hey, your dad left his monogrammed robe in my ma's bedroom last weekend. Got a Polaroid of it if you want to see ... or I could show your mom if you don't leave this freshman here alone."
Bully Two laughs, and Bully One runs away. She never bothers Jackie again.
Hyde turns to Bully Two and says, "Wanna know what positions your dad likes having sex in? 'Cause I caught him and my ma doin' it. More than once. I bet Timmy would have a field day telling the whole school about it. Unless you decide to quit bothering -- "
"I'll stop, I'll stop!" Bully Two says. "Just don't tell anyone. Please!"
Hyde nods. "You keep up your end of the bargain, I'll keep my trap shut."
Bully Two nods back and rushes off.
Jackie says to Hyde, "Why did you do that?"
"'Cause I know those chicks. Rep is everything to 'em. If the illusion of their perfect home lives is shattered, down goes their social standing."
"What about you?"
"Me?" Hyde chuckles. "I got no social standing."
He walks down the school hallway, and he and Jackie have no signifi interaction until Kelso starts dating her that summer. But Jackie never forgets how Hyde protected her that day.
That's why she always goes to him when she's in trouble.

The Births, ages & deaths of Their Royal Highnesses Children. c. 1677-8
This small notebook records the dates and exact times of the births of seven of the eight children of James, Duke of York and Anne Hyde, including the future queens Mary II and Anne I; their first child, Charles, Duke of Cambridge (1660-1661) is not recorded. The dates and times of the first three children of James and his second wife, Mary of Modena, are also noted. The early deaths of most of James's children, also recorded in the notebook, vividly captures the high infant mortality rate of the seventeenth century. The death of Anne Hyde at the end of March 1671 is documented, together with a note of James's second marriage: 'The Duke was Mar[ried] & Bedded at Dover to ye Princes[s] Mary of Modena on Fryday ye 21st of Nov[ember] 1673'. Opposite, a lock of hair, probably Anne Hyde's, is sewn onto the page.
The notebook was designed for the Duke of York, whose 'JD' monogram appears both on the elaborate binding in gold tooling and on the clasps, and though it is not in his handwriting, the presence of locks of hair implies the compiler was very close to the royal ducal family. It was written in one sitting, probably in late 1677 or early 1678, as it records the death of a second Charles, Duke of Cambridge (7 November 1677 – 12 December 1677) but not the birth of James's next child, Elizabeth, in 1678. It was probably compiled for James's use; clearly it is a highly personal item.

El primer zombi suelto en Hollywood

Los zombis, tal como los conocemos, son una creación de George A. Romero. Ese es el canon que, de alguna manera, ha imperado en Hollywood desde que Romero dirigiera en 1968 La noche de los muertos vivientes. Los zombis en Romero no guardan relación con el mito haitiano, salvo en el detalle de que son muertos reanimados; pero su origen es la radiación de un satélite que cayó del espacio.
El zombi ya posee entidad como uno de los monstruos clásicos del cine; hasta puede hablarse de un género de películas. Los muchos fanáticos de los filmes y series de TV sobre zombis ignoran cuál fue el primer gran éxito que el tema tuvo en Hollywood: un largometraje que había sido olvidado durante décadas hasta que la TV lo rescató en los años 60 y volvió a ser apreciado por una nueva generación. Esta es la historia de ese filme, White Zombie (La legión de los hombres sin alma, 1932).
Parte de la razón para que White Zombie no tuviera el estatus de otros clásicos del cine de horror como Drácula o Frankenstein (ambas de 1931) es que White Zombie es un filme independiente, financiado por un pequeño estudio de cine, Halperin Productions, que formaba parte de la llamada Poverty Row, que era como se designaba a los estudios menores que operaban independientemente en Hollywood, como Monogram, Majestic, Mascot y Puritan, entre muchos otros, que ya no existen y pocos recuerdan ya.
Según indica el libro Forgotten Horrors (Midnight Marquee Press. Baltimore, 1999), de George Turner y Michael Price, la palabra “zombie” fue introducida ante grandes audiencias en Estados Unidos con el libro sobre vudú haitiano The Magic Island, de William Seabrook. El concepto luego llegó al teatro, con la obra Zombie, que produjo Kenneth Webb en Nueva York y se estrenó en febrero de 1931. Sólo se ofrecieron 21 funciones de esa pieza. Curiosamente, Webb amenazó con demandar en marzo de ese año a los productores Edward y Víctor Halperin cuando estos anunciaron que iniciarían el rodaje de una película llamada White Zombie.
La historia de los hermanos Halperin es singular. Ambos arribaron a Hollywood a comienzos de la década de 1920. Tenían formación universitaria e inclinaciones por el teatro. Juntos produjeron una docena de películas mudas para los estudios First National, United Artists y Vitagraph; casi todas melodramas. Nada presagiaba que les interesaría incursionar en el género del cine de terror.
Los hermanos tenían una obsesión: encontrar una aproximación científica a la forma de hacer cine. En pocas palabras, teorizaban sobre hallar una fórmula que garantizara en 100% el éxito de una película. Sus análisis de filmes exitosos los condujo a preguntarse por qué funcionaban en la taquilla Drácula (Universal) o Dr. Jekyll y Mr. Hyde (Paramount). Los Halperin (Víctor siempre dirigió y Edward era el productor) concluyeron que los diálogos debían limitarse al 15% del filme y que el resto debía ser pura acción.
Esta aproximación a la trama también se reflejó en su manera de hacer cine. White Zombie se completó en apenas 11 días de rodaje. Víctor Halperin y Garnett Weston escribieron el guión, con la asesoría del sargento Faustin Wirkus, otrora administrador de la isla de La Gonave, frente a Haití. El presupuesto fue de 65.000 dólares, aportados por la empresa Amusement Securities Corp. y por el productor independiente Phil Goldstone. Y como estrellas del filme se contrataron a Madge Bellamy (actriz del cine mudo que anhelaba un regreso triunfal) y Bela Lugosi, fresco del éxito de taquilla obtenido en Drácula y Murders of the Rue Morgue. En algunos libros se indica que Bela Lugosi sólo recibió 800 dólares como pago por White Zombie (en el libro Forgotten Horrors se indica que fueron 500 dólares por una semana de trabajo), pero cuesta creer que, si bien era una producción independiente, el actor húngaro se tranzara por esa cifra. Madge Bellamy, por ejemplo, comentó que le pagaron 5.000 dólares por su papel, que es estrictamente secundario frente al de Lugosi.
Lo cierto es que White Zombie en absoluto luce como una película barata. Sin duda, los diálogos y ciertos aspectos de la trama han envejecido mal. Pero todavía sorprende la dirección de fotografía de Arthur Martinelli (de lejos, lo mejor de la película). El filme se rodó en los escenarios de los estudios Universal, por lo que los hermanos Halperin le sacaron provecho a los decorados de primer nivel de la empresa; el director de arte fue Ralph Berger, quien comisionó a la empresa Howard Anderson Co. para hacer los efectos especiales y los trucos de cámara, que simulaban escenarios inmensos. Por ejemplo, el interior del castillo de Murder Legendre (Lugosi) fue usado en Drácula y en El jorobado de Nuestra Señora de París.
Jack Pierce, creador del legendario maquillaje de la criatura de Frankenstein, hizo el maquillaje de los zombis en la película, así como del personaje de Bela Lugosi, Murder Legendre. Lugosi creó con Legendre uno de sus villanos más memorables. No sólo era una cuestión de maquillaje; ayudó también los acercamientos que la cámara hacía de su rostro. Legendre crea zombis a través de la magia negra para valerse de mano de obra que trabaje sin parar en su molino de caña. Pero los zombis a los que hace alusión el título del filme son seis hombres blancos, que fueron enemigos de Legendre y éste los transformó en muertos vivientes: Latour, el brujo antiguo mentor de Legendre; Von Gelder, un terrateniente adinerado; Víctor Trischer, ministro del Interior; Scarpia, oficial del ejército; Marquis, capitán de la policía; y Chauvin, el verdugo de la isla.
White Zombie, pese a sus limitaciones, probó ser un éxito en la taquilla y eventualmente, con el paso del tiempo, encontró defensores en los espacios menos esperados, como en el del músico (y ahora cineasta) Rob Zombie, quien bautizó a su primera banda con el título del filme. Sunday, November 19th: Will's alive? Then what the hell did we cremate? (Part 2)
"Who comes to London in November for the sun?"
Ten things that happened:
1). "Cheekily" nicked a book from The London Lodge's library as I headed out for a souvenir: Scar Tissue by Anthony Kiedis. I love a sinner with a future and a saint with a past.
2). Headed to my second hotel: La Lit and got an unexpected free upgrade to their master suite. It was the most beautiful bed I had ever seen, especially as my jet lag and long day from before kicked in. Complimentary mini-bar, robe, and slippers. I chugged the monogrammed glass water jugs: sparkling and flat, and left the wine where it was.
3). The butler who checked me in was so stiff-backed and uniformed: it was like a movie as he greeted me at my uber to lug my bags to my suite.
4). Walked to The Tate and took in the modern art and people. (and lost my second nail of the trip because I am in fact an International Silly Goose). Some of it was stunning. Some of it was bullshit (sand with a scoop taken out of it?).
5). There was joy on the street as I figured my way out.
6). Had a fabulous pasta dish to myself, a latte on the side, and thought about how beautiful the world is. The guy who flirted with me in Soho reached out to try and take me to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. I said not tonight but made plans for Sunday.
7). Ordered room service and struggled to keep my eyes open for more Love Island. If the day before was all gas no breaks, this day was soft-girl era and bougie. I ordered a truly spectacular pizza from room service and lounged in various states of nudity like a Grecian painting. Pale breasts, long blonde hair, joy.
8). The magic of satisfaction is found in realistic goals and dreams, not cheap cravings.
9). Didn't listen to music or read the entire day. Eyes and ears open. Moving along with all the other citygoers. Slipping past eachother, crossing once on the other side of the planet.
10.) Stopped and stared at the pop-up art and exhibits.

Raven in the night
Summary: Agent Hyde goes undercover for a mission.
Dark red illuminated the hotel suite as a man got up from the bed, he looked from his shoulder to see his lover sleeping, his body splayed about. Looking around the room I checked in the closet to find a black suitcase. A soft clatter was heard as he turned around, prepared to defend himself.
It turned out to be the phone vibrating on the side table. He sighed, reached over, and grabbed the phone. He read the text.
How’s the business trip dear?

Agent Hyde’s mission was simple: get intel on some illegal funding. They sat at one of the bars at the cadence casino, drinking his russian spring punch when someone approached them. He looked like a yuppie from the 80s, clad in a burgundy suit.
He smirks at Hyde, “Hey there handsome, What’s a guy like you doing in a place like this?”
“The usual things, trying my luck on slots or something else.” they said to man, tipping his shades revealing his blue eyes to entice his prey. They were wearing a pale yellow short-sleeved button-up with black polka dots and slacks. A bit of chest was showing.
“Maybe we can both help each other out, if you catch my drift?”
Hyde chuckles, finishing their drink before whispering in the man’s ear.
“Name your price and time~”

After a couple of shots from the minibar the two begin to kiss and caress each other, Hyde teasing their prey with hickeys and kisses on his neck. He tried keeping up with them, taking off their shirt, giving their nipples a tender lick making them moan. The man grinded himself on Hyde before collapsing on them.
Thankfully the drug worked quicker than expected as they responded to the text.
"It's going well honey thanks ☺"
Hyde takes pictures of the suitcase's documents, making sure they got a clear view. Once changed into a different outfit they slip out of the room, leaving with some incriminating files.

Upbringing: Hamilton was born nearly two (Earth) years after his older brother Siegfried on dwarf planet Eris. He was Siegfried's first best friend, first rival, and first source of conflict: he and Siegfried fight like a couple that's been married for over thirty years. Then their little sister Pluto was born and all bets were off; they moved to Pluto-Charon when he was six years old. Like his siblings, Hamilton got his start by reading a lot. From a young age, he had this inner itch to help people; he, like his little sister, found the imperialists from Earth to be quite rude to their family and the rest of the people of Pluto-Charon: they would barge onto their planet and the small communities like they owned the place and expected everyone there to treat them that way. Hamilton wanted to help the people of Pluto-Charon and any travelers who wanted to come out there because the imperialists would treat them like garbage, too. He and Siegfried helped their sister grow a better garden in their backyard, and he would take some fruits and veggies to some of the travelers and sell them to them; because not everyone is polite, not everyone said “thank you, Hamilton.” Over time, the lack of manners took a toll on him: Hamilton grew rather cynical of anyone who didn't call him a friend; this applied to a lot of people on Pluto-Charon as well, as more citizens found Hamilton “meddlesome” and “trying to ride on his siblings' coattails.” Then their home life went to hell, and he developed his Jekyll/Hyde temperament.
Appearance: Hamilton is like his brother and stands at just over six feet in height. He's a lot slimmer than his older brother; at least until [spoiler just in case] the third book when he packs on about thirty pounds. Otherwise, he has a narrow oval shaped face with lively peacock blue eyes and a head full of fine flaxen blond hair; like every other person in space, he has snowy white skin from living so far away from the sun. His arms and legs are slender but strong; he has a flat chest and stomach but ever so slightly wide hips. Despite his thin build, he's actually quite cuddly and gives the best hugs. He always smells like freshly brewed coffee. I can't hear Jeremy Renner anymore without picturing Hamilton.
Trinkets/Accessories: out of uniform, Hamilton wears his trademark violet suspenders; the left one has the glyphs for Mercury, Uranus (William Herschel’s monogram), and Pluto embroidered.
Wardrobe: like Siegfried, Hamilton wears a lot of nice clothing: dress shirts, a lot of button downs, probably one T shirt (and it's a Nirvana shirt), knee high boots, and absolutely no shortage of nice coats like a Chesterfield. In the last book he sports a plum fedora (like the one I have). He also has his uniform: the same violet overcoat with silver hems and matching cap with William Herschel's monogram embroidered on the front, a plain white shirt, a charcoal gray tie belt, black leather gloves, and black and white horizontal striped trousers.

Overall Expression: Hamilton is the most hot and cold character I have in my repertoire who isn't a villain. He's charming and sweet to the ones he loves and to his colleagues, but he has a hair trigger temper by the book (in the third book he has to be sent away to Titan because it gets really bad by then). He's enterprising, diligent sometimes working himself to the point of exhaustion, and like your archetypal Sagittarius, is quite outspoken.
Community: he does have a few friends back on Pluto-Charon (they helped him build his and Siegfried's rocket) but most people back there are not very kind to him (“that Hamilton is such an interloper, he should just leave”)
The Hotel: first and foremost, the Hotel on Titania is only referred to as such: Hamilton and Siegfried couldn't think of a better name so they just left it at that. The hotel itself is a giant white cube on the “north pole” of Titania—because Uranus is sideways, the real north poles are either engulfed in total darkness or excruciatingly bright light. The boys figured the best place to live is the equator, just the right amount of light and dark. Titania is also tidally locked to Uranus, i.e., one side always faces it (like our Moon is tidally locked) so being upside down is a regular thing for them but it happens pretty quickly and they have gravity there so it's not like everything goes haywire when they turn to see Saturn upside down. In front of the hotel is a stretch of vibrant green grass which Pluto referred to as “Hydra grass”: there are rosebushes and apple trees everywhere to give the otherwise airless moon an atmosphere. The front porch is vast and spacious and illuminated by the ball lightning; the front doors are French doors with smoked glass. You walk into the front lobby: on either side are a couple of loveseats and Ottomans parked in front of large smoked glass windows. The floor is glittering black, and the walls are swirled black and white marble, and the vast gray ceiling is illuminated with ball lightning; in front of you is the black and white front desk which they nicknamed Midday. To the left is a black staircase followed by a series of pitch black hallways with white doors: nicknamed the Sunrise side; to the right is a white stairwell followed by a series of white hallways with black doors: nicknamed the Sunset side. The names are vague misnomers: think “sunrise” as in you have darkness over the land (black) and the sun peeks its head in (white); think “sunset” as in you have daylight (white) and the sun begins to leave darkness (black) in its wake. The Sunrise side has the dining hall, which we (unfortunately) never see; the Sunset side has the kitchen, a small white room with three black refrigerators, a handful of black stove tops, a surrounding black countertop, and a kiln tucked in one corner. Going towards the kitchen is the row of teleporters which resemble streetlamps with ball lightning in lieu of an actual light and little black boxes which give the coordinates of where one wishes to teleport to. And then Hamilton and Siegfried's rooms are in a separate building off the Sunrise side next to the back door, which is sometimes open because it gets pretty hot in the kitchen. The building is separated by a sheet of smoked glass; to the left is Hamilton's room, a cozy little space with his bed, a desk, and a walk-in closet and a good sized window on one side; across the hall is Siegfried's room, which is pretty much the same layout. Both rooms have white walls with checkerboard black and white floors and black ceilings; the only veins of color in the hotel are their bedspreads: black and violet nice warm comforters.
***Note: a good way to remember which side is which (because it can get confusing, I confess to that) is picture yourself with your back to the north, so you're facing south. And then imitate the “sunrise, sunset” bit from the Guatemalan insanity pepper episode of the Simpsons (“Sunrise…” gesture to the left; “Sunset…” gesture to the right)
Family: Siegfried (older brother), Pluto (little sister), Angelica (mother), Desdemona (aunt)
Friends: the girls on Titania, Lewis, Archer Wilson, Ivan, Zelda, and eventually Neptune
Enemies: Sullivan, Victor, Patrick Silversmith, the Positrons, the Nasties
Extracurriculars: Hamilton, like his siblings, loves to read. He also likes to do art in his spare time.
Secrets: Hamilton, like most middle children, just wants to be seen. He's not as outgoing as his brother, and not as cute as his sister, and he secretly wishes for people to like him.
Worst Nightmare: his temper spirals so much out of control that he loses it and resorts to violence (…which does happen in the third book)
Quirks: don't take him to a fabric store or he'll want to feel everything (one of my many quirks—I always need to touch everything)
Strengths: aforementioned diligence; he's enterprising, very polite, and as far as Sagittariuses go, he's got quite the sense of humor. He's a good source of comfort, too.
Flaws: his temperament. He's also prone to arguing.
Fridge Horror: Likewise with Siegfried, their father plays a huge role in Hamilton's temperament. He's also the worst case scenario middle child: he just wants to be seen and heard but no one seems to be paying attention because “he's not his siblings.” Also—and I didn't even realize this until just the other day, either—Hamilton's bad temper spirals so far out of control that he needs to be sent away to Titan, wherein he goes to a camp that helps him heal and get back in touch with himself (that includes eating, because he, too, is a big eater). So when he comes back to Titania, he's thirty pounds heavier. Does that in any way, shape, or form… remind you of anything?
Influenced by: the fire in my own belly. Don't let my sweet little face fool you: I can and will get fiery if you provoke me enough.
Relates to: middle children, the underdogs of the immediate family. And also anyone with a bad temper/anger issues who just want to feel better about themselves.
