"Sonic 06: gameplay is shit, story is shit."

Okay, I somewhat disagree but don't see the need to expend energy toward-

*comparison between 06 and Forces is drawn*

I was going to do things today. . . but here we are.

Okay, up top and up front: 06 and Forces are both flawed, yes.

But they are flawed in fundamentally different ways, and Forces flaws are, quite frankly, far more glaring and demeritorious for a franchise like Sonic than 06. Anyone who, years from now, goes on to claim that "Uh, actually, Forces was peak." the way that some people are saying about 06 now will be just as, if not more, wrong. And I'll attribute such claims to declining media literacy.

BEFORE the youngsters in the fandom start throwing things at me, note that I said just as wrong. 06 wasn't ever as good as some of the mainline games prior or even spinoff titles after.

The difference is, most of 06's issues stem from the fact that it reads as pitiably unfinished.

The problems with Forces begin and end with the fact that it reads like self-insert fan fiction that had either zero beta readers or too many beta readers that were all given editing privileges. There's definitely a place in the world for that sort of creativity, but said place is not within a licensed game that people have to pay for; one that drastically affects the canon of the franchise and how the fans old and new perceive it and the characters within.

All right? Okay, let's get into details.

Let's address gameplay first, since I have less to say about that.

On this count, if nothing else, Forces barely edges out by being functional; granted, that's the end of it. I wouldn't go back to play it again, and the 'highlights' I can recall mostly felt like reskins of stages in the style of Colors but shortened, with boss fights reminiscent of daytime Unleashed. I imagine the primary draw for people is watching their customized 'sona jump and fly around whilst listening to dialogue from the main cast.

And this isn't really a substantive point, but the fact that receiving stuff like outfits like loot crates at the end of virtually every stage feels kind of manipulative and annoys me. If there's unlockable features, put some actual challenge between the player and the prize, like how you perform within the stage. Otherwise it's just another example of "shiny, novelty, tickle brain often, get player to play longer."

Setting that brief tangent aside since that's just a trend in games in general and not Sonic specific, moving on to 06's gameplay. And uh, yeah. The USP was, like the adventure games, supposed to be that you got three interconnected stories and three main characters each with unique play styles.

I suppose 06 showed us before anything else that Shadow really isn't as fast as Sonic, and as an idea, Silver's psychokinesis was cool. If the tracking in the Speed Up stages and the hit boxes in a handful of other areas had been ironed out, there's foundation for a fairly solid experience. Project 06 is basically proof that the base of the game had potential that wasn't realized, whether due to time constraints or other reasons.

As far as environs, the concept for Kingdom Valley showed off the most soul, I'd say, with Silver's future coming in close second. Character design for the Iblis fragments (not sure if that's the official name but I'm doing stream-of-consciousness here) and Mephiles I actually like a lot. I don't think there's anything objectively wrong with them and however you rate them will come down to preference.

Also, the model for Sonic is like. . . ridiculously good. He just looks like an older teenager; it fits with the widely accepted idea that he was 15 as of Adventure 2. Polish it a bit and that's just how he appears in my head when I write about him.

That said, there are only about six different environs that serve as stages, discounting the hub areas, and compared to Heroes' twelve stages, it just adds to that incomplete/rushed feeling.

That's about all I can say on the gameplay aspect. Functional yet non-stimulating technically wins out over some creativity yet patchy. They are games, after all.

Now then, the "story is shit" business.

Look, if you're going to criticize Sonic's story—which, yeah, his should be subjected to more scrutiny, being the titular character—then much of what you can say against it also applies to the first Adventure. Eggman wants to collect a thing (emeralds/Princess), Sonic wants him to not collect the thing (emeralds/Princess) because he's obviously planning to do evil stuff with the thing, Sonic manages to get the thing only for Eggman to snatch it out of his hands.

Multiple times.

Meaning Sonic spends most of the games on fetch quests that Eggman keeps one-upping him on until the penultimate fight.

And those are the beats. Of both stories. (For Sonic.)

And then at the end of both games, a monster you've fought in various forms (Chaos/Iblis) reappears to threaten the world on a scale that requires the seven chaos emeralds to combat.

Super Sonic. Rad soundtrack. Credits.

Granted, much like how Gamma's story was the strongest in Adventure, the quality of the three main story lines in 06 also vary in strength, with Shadow's taking first place.

My point is, in a franchise that is about characters, you don't grade every aspect of the story on the same scale. You weigh the grade of various aspects differently; and the point that gets graded most heavily is:

Character moments; which can encapsulate literal moments, arcs, development etc.

And for all its flaws, 06 has character moments, almost immediately, even. Sonic's first spoken line is "My, that's a pretty snazzy performance there!"

Which, after the tension of Eggman interrupting the festival and threatening Elise, cuts through the moment right away and, paired with the next several seconds, shows who Sonic is. He sees Eggman's robots aiming and waits until the last second to jump before going to town bashing up bots. Even as he carts Elise off amidst homing missiles and explosions, he's grinning the whole time.

Sonic does what he does because it's fun.

And his third spoken line, answering Elise's question of why he's helping, is: "No special reason."

Again, that's Sonic. Doesn't matter who it is, he helps people because he Does what's Cool. And as well as being fun, fighting off Eggman and his bots is Cool.

06, as Silver's introduction to the series, also does a decent job establishing his character of Temporal Bulldozer. He can be aimed, but his solution to problems first and foremost is usually smashing, and it's really tricky to change his mind once he's focused. He suffers from myopia arguably as bad or worse than Metal Sonic. Amy's the only one who momentarily gets him to pause and wonder if really does want to kill Sonic.

Which is a character moment for her. As in Adventure 2, Amy will happily break laws and go against who and whatever to help her friends; and as she did with Shadow, she's rather skilled at getting very hurt people to listen.

She's not unlike Silver in her willingness to do whatever it takes, really; since Temporal Bulldozer can and does traverse time on several occasions to make things right. And up until the last moment, it never occurs to him that anyone but he should bear the burden of saving the world. Blaze has to physically shove him aside so she can absorb Iblis herself.

Silver sees himself as a Hero with a responsibility toward the future just as much Sonic sees himself as just Some Guy.

Finally, Shadow. And man, there's a reason a lot of people say 06 was the last time a game featured Shadow written correctly.

It's me. I'm one of a lot of people.

Team Dark in general gets a fair bit of spotlight in 06. Rouge, an anti-heroine with perhaps the greatest self-interest after Eggman, promises Shadow that she'd stand with him even if the very world turned against him. Omega, who loathes taking orders and prioritizes his own freedom nearly as much as Sonic, takes on Rouge's assignment for him without question or complaint to wait out 200 years to help rescue Shadow.

And Shadow, in an in-game line during his first fight with Mephiles, reaffirms all the progress he made in his titular game that was wholly about discovering his identity: "Don't bother trying to deceive me. I know who I am!"

And, in contrast to the Shadow the franchise first introduced us to, the Shadow of Adventure 2 who was thoroughly convinced that his only remaining worth was his ability to keep his promise to Maria, the Shadow who was so resigned that he chose to plummet through the planet's atmosphere to his presumed death. . .

That Shadow is faced squarely with his fate of persecution, asked why he would bother fighting to protect. That Shadow declares that it the world turns on him, "I will fight as I always have."

He's grown such that he's now willing to fight against fate.

And that's pretty fucking cool.

On the other side, applying the same grading method to Forces, we find what I call (as of just now) character fauxments.

Remember how I talked about 06's introduction for Sonic? How he cuts through tensions, finds joy and fun in fighting bullies and bad guys?

The thing about that, which Forces doesn't seem to understand, is that if you lean too hard on the wisecracks and nonchalance, you end up with a character who reads as either obnoxious or totally tone-deaf. Sonic knows when to take things seriously, yet in Forces he's purportedly been tortured as well as locked up for half a year, Infinite's destroyed countless homes and killed who knows how many people, and yet when Sonic interrupts his fight with Silver. . .

I mean, if Sonic was written correct, you'd cut out a bunch of faff and change his line delivery. Show that he's frustrated by his time confined and absolutely raring to throw hands and get to business; because Sonic does understand when things have gotten real, and while rare, he does get angry. Something like:

"Since you like talking so much, mind sharing the source of your power? I can ask the easy way or the hard way. I've been cooped up a long time, so I'm hoping you pick the hard way."

It doesn't need to be the most original lines in the world, but Sonic's banter in the middle of a war shouldn't be long-winded, no matter how pretentious his opponent is (and damn, is Infinite pretentious. Like to the point that it's the most memorable part of the game.) If there's banter, it should be punchy and succinct; quick, like he is.

Instead, Forces Sonic's attitude is just kind of. . . incongruous with the stakes the game claims to have established. But then, since we don't get a truly convincing scene showing the rest of the cast being sad that he reportedly died, that's not too surprising.

Speaking of setting up stakes, here's an idea. Rather than cutting from Sonic laying battered in the middle of the city for a lazy six-month time skip established by text on the screen, make it clear that "Oh shit, things are different" via gameplay.

After Sonic falls, immediately transition into a level. Where you run from right to left to escape Eggman's fleet. Turns everything on its head, you can witness and navigate the destruction as it's happening and if you string together enough environs, you can even have the city burning in the distance or the skyline as you near the end of the stage and escape to relative safety.

Anyway.

And of course, the notorious character fauxment: Tails cowering in front of an offline Omega.

There's nothing I can say about this fauxment that hasn't been said already. It's not the first time in the series that Tails was portrayed as having regressed to a scared child, but it is the most egregious.

And. . . actually, that's about it, at least off the top of my head. Which might speak to how short the game is and how little screen time and action the main cast get aside from Sonic and the player character.

But it's enough to determine that Forces' story, or what stands in for it, is weaker than what 06 offered.

Again, I'm not here to rally a feral defense of 06 as a masterpiece, but its flaws are not on the level of Forces. The reason they're lumped together is the amount of disdain both games got on their release; though in the case of 06, the 2000's were just a weird time when hating things was somehow cooler than liking them, and since 06 wasn't up to par with Adventure 2 or Heroes, people picked an aspect of the game-most often how much the almost final fantasy style model for Elise didn't match up with the Mobian models (and yes, the final cutscene, but there's nothing new I can say about that either, and talking about it here is just an open invitation for someone to blow it out of proportion again) and dogpiled the hate on the game.

Sonic 06 feels unfinished owing to a lot of little and larger details. Knuckles' portrayal and having little to do in the story, poor optimization leading to nearly twenty second loading times, BLAZE BEING A GLOWING NEON MISSED OPPORTUNITY! (SEGA, I know I was literally twelve when the game was released, but my Phoenix headcanon works so well and makes her appearance in both Rush and 06 work! A retroactive fix would be so easy and we could get more adventures in her dimension!)

Even acknowledging all that, though, there were still attempts at creativity that just, for one reason or another, didn't pan out. There's significant potential here.

Forces is just. . . a mess. In every sense. And I understand how a mess can be attractive to a fandom, because a mess means you can take whatever you want from it and organize things however you choose.

But a mess that's sold as a finished game is not the same as a rushed title with visible untapped potential.

Ramble ramble

Just 1000 words of a possible opener to a self-insert isekai Marco/sona story.

I might change the perspective, but I like the idea of an omnipotent 2nd person that’s just mostly focused on the OC’s point of view. (I also don’t want to start writing first person and screw up mid-work on all my reader inserts, so here we are xD )

Their name will be Quill, and their hair is white, because I like that look and so I’mma use it.

I didn’t edit a damn thing, this is just me distracting myself so read at your own peril. Fully safe for work (for now).

Your head hurts and your body’s sore, and none of it makes sense. You shouldn’t feel anything - you died.

You remember dying, spending the last few moments in a hospital bed, the steady beeping of the monitors slowing. Your body gave way to the march of time and that’s all there was to it.

It was a good life, a long one full of people and laughter and good times. Some of it hurt terribly, and some of it you could’ve done without, but against the odds you had lived.

Right up until you had died.

You had.

You were so sure of it.

Soundlessly you opened your eyes and looked around carefully. The room was bright with sunlight, wooden and smelling of disinfectant and salt. The subtle scent of oak or maple tickled the back of your brain and the design of what you could see looked uncomfortably familiar.

You were too disoriented to really hone in on what it was, but your entire thought process snapped to a halt when you realized that you had shifted.

Not because you moved, but because the room had.

The subtle sway took a long moment to happen again and with a terrible sinking feeling you realized you were on a ship.

The salty smell was ocean air.

The boat was wood, you imagined, since the room was, and you turned your head to get a better look.

Despite the crisp clean scent there was no electricity in this room. Aside from that it looked like a well stocked recovery room. Not a place you’d want to have open heart surgery in, but you’d be sure a broken bone could be set at least.

Wincing against the soreness in your limbs you sit up. Nothing hurt in an alarming way, and you weren’t dizzy. Groggy, maybe, you could probably still nap a little longer, but you’d thought your sleep was to be of the eternal variety and now your curiosity was stoked about your situation.

You were in a simple linen shirt and pants. You looked over your body and came to realize you weren’t in your body.

If this was your body, you didn’t have any memory of it. You were short, muscled, missing scars and other marks you knew you had. Your skin was tan, and your hair was almost shockingly white.

You ran the strands between your fingers, marveling at it a little. You were most certainly not in your body. Eighty plus years of life had left its marks deep in your skin and soul, but this body was new.

New bodies healed a lot faster, and you swung your legs off the side of the bed, or the exam table turned bed, and hopped down onto the floor.

You could feel the slow tilt of the ship more now that you were standing but it wasn’t making you queasy. That was a welcome sign. Whatever body you’d been dumped into you weren’t in some poor schmuck that got seasick.

You looked around the room, looking through drawers and opening cabinets. You didn’t move anything or take anything, it seemed wrong to just wander out of the room too, so you did your best to stay put.

Bandages, medicines, syringes, sutures, tools for doing wellness checks. It was a fairly typical setup. If not for the lack of electricity you’d almost think you were on a cruise ship.

You didn’t know, technically, who you were, or where you were. But your current body was intact and you weren’t restrained, nor were you surrounded by blood and bodies and bars, so you felt pretty relaxed. You were on edge a little, wondering when the door was going to open, but you had been left on your own long enough to sate your curiosity and climb back onto the exam bed table thing.

You decided to look out the window and realized you had a decent view of the deck, or the small bit of it that ran down the side of the ship. You couldn’t be more than a storey up from it.

You noticed someone approaching and felt the blood drain from your face. The man was massive, not just 7’ or something but eye level with your window vantage point. He had to be over twelve feet tall easily. It was an impossible height, and despite the obviously kind smile on his face as he noticed you, you fell back into the room and slammed the shutters closed, nearly falling off the makeshift bed in alarm.

Your mind reeled at the possibilities, but you weren’t left to your thoughts for long before there was a knock at the door. You tried to say “come in”, but no sound left your mouth.

The air passed your lips, but you couldn’t make a peep. Panic rose up in your throat, had you ever been able to talk? Was this body mute? Would you be able to communicate in this world? What if you couldn’t write? What if none of this was real and you were dreaming the last few moments before your brain died?

Were you still actually dead? You felt so full of life you didn’t want to die, not again, not yet! This wasn’t a dream it was too detailed, too coherent, it had to be real! It had to be and -.

The door opened and you collapse to the floor heaving in big gulps of air as the rising panic and fear over takes you entirely.

Someone kneels down near you, a calming tone, a soothing timber. You like the sound, something is familiar in it, but you can’t make out the words. He shouts for someone, turned away from you for a moment before you hear that even tone turned toward you again.

Large firm hands grip your shoulders and pull you up. You can’t believe what your eyes are seeing but the extra information is enough. You can’t take anymore and hurl onto one strappy sandaled foot before passing out.

Been making a lot of characters on HeroForge lately and I feel like Im getting better at character design? Im happy with them anyways.

Would love to hear what people think! Which character would you want in your game? Which one would your OC fall in love with? What do you assume about me based on my characters? Which is your favorite?

ASK ME ABOUT MY OCs!

Im gonna preface this saying, I didnt make these characters with the intention of interlocking their stories. Its just, as I was putting the images together I noticed some similarities and put them in rows to match the similar ones. And my brain was like, what if they were in dnd parties?

Campaign 1 is the Left Side and Campaign 2 is the right, also it takes place 100 years after the first campaign

Blue is sort of Serèn's daughter. Serèn is a druid and does some weird magical stuff that imbues a sentient mushroom coloney with her essence. The mushroom (Blue) wants to experience life as people do and turns itself into a clone of Serèn's likeness. Blue is circle of spores druid.

Blue is based off my minecraft OC. Who was corrupted by mind-controlling blue mushrooms.

Is it too much to have two princesses in the same party? Cause i kinda like the idea of Serèn and Undyne both being princesses of fallen kingdoms. Serèn a space elf princess and Undyne is a sea elf princess from a coral reef kingdom. Serèn's kingdom was recently taken over by an army of Aberrations who are rapidly taking over the Astral Sea. Undyne's kingdom was taken over by humans when she was very young. She grew up in a fishing village and was a pirate for some time.

Pyarc is a mixture of western and eastern dragon design. She is a half dragon. Half dragonborn, half lightning dragon god. She totally does cool Demon Slayer type sword attacks.

Dart is a Frog Goblin and my Mom's favorite of the bunch. She is a bounty hunter and scarily competent for how silly she acts.

Sona is a circus acrobat. Inspired by Ty Lee from Avatar and Cirque du Soleil. I cant decide if she was always a warforged or if her soul was put into one. I like both designs so maybe she is one of many warforges created to sell to kings all over the world. But somehow she gains sentience or remembers she was a person once? Not sure yet. Mostly just diggin the design.

conversing on your last post, if me and you were in a video game like genshin (as our sonas) and the genshin boys were out here and playing the game, who would simp and/or whale for us?

For you:

Itto. Itto looks for one thing when he mains characters; are they cool. And you fill in that category BY FAR. Boy is so invested in building you through and through, by the time he’s finished his goal your stats are absolutely CRACKED. People see you in his team and faint bc what the fuck. Leave it to Itto to end up with a singular character with unfathomable stats and have no idea how he managed. He also simps hella hard bc “you’re so cool!!” P.S.- you’re the reason he’s broke but he still loves you <3 he reads fanfiction and is unashamed of it. The only thing on his search history is dexter x reader smut

Kazuha (yes I am biased). I feel like he started simping when he got to see your backstory, or maybe went through your story quest, and all of a sudden he’s going through your voice lines, all your lore and wow your story is so interesting you’re so interesting— he simps and probably has you in his main team but he’s nowhere as intense with it as Itto. Doesn’t mean he’s less of a simp. He reads fanfics but he would never tell another soul.

Albedo. Kind of the same as Kazuha, where he really likes your character and backstory and he kind of just starting enjoying you more

Jean. The strategist. She doesn’t simp as much, but she knows your character has great potential and thinks you’re the perfect addition to her team so she def whaled

Childe. He saw Itto’s Dexter, saw that you could fucking one shot anything and all of a sudden he’s maining you bc you’re a strong ass five star. Started simping along the way. In a “when the fuck did this happen” way he just woke up one day with dexter living rent free in his mind

Casual Dexter Enjoyers: Albedo, Diluc, Jean

Feral Dexter simps: Itto, Kazuha (not that feral but has potential), Childe

For me:

Kaeya. Probably liked the voice lines at first and how sarcastic I am, but the more he plays the more he got annoyed. “Well. Didn’t know we needed this many breaks.“ ‘shut the FUCK up Eve’ (totally based on the fact that I main Kaeya and go ‘shut the FUCK up Kaeya’ every three seconds). Puts up with it anyway bc he kinda simps

Hu Tao. She too likes my character, and thinks my design and attacks are pretty fun. Also loves the sense of humour. Definitely builds me good. Writes eve x reader fanfiction and is venerated for it

Venti. “I CAN FIX HER” simp. I feel like this guy saw my backstory, saw the wretched being I am and went “maybe if I give her a good build she will be happy”. Prays during new updates that I appear in events or hangouts. Has spent so much fucking money on me. Also kind of a gatekeep fan— he reads fanfiction. He writes the foulest selfship things but they never see the light of day

Kujou Sara. I DONT KNOW WHY BUT I JUST FEEL SHE HAS ME IN HER MAIN TEAM. No thoughts her only logic is “hehe feral girl” and she’s a lesbian so I know her main team is just four of the gayest girls in the game. It’s her dream harem

Childe. Hydro. He just likes me bc hydro. Also bc of my attack style probably. This man is plagued by Dexter half the time and the other half it’s Eve. He’s living in constant questioning of his sexuality.

Hi so I just saw your ask to rua and

a) thank you so much for sharing this, because I feel that way about james and Cordelia’s arc too? Like, there’s so much miscommunication and just general chaos when in other scenes they are level-headed, rational teenagers capable of using their brains? Honestly, all the drama is just getting to me (just like with clary and jace with everything that’s going on). At one point i know it‘s necessary but it’s just… tiring, you know? I used to like writing about James and Cordelia when chog was the only drama that occurred but now... I just feel like Cordelia ‘escaping’ with Matthew is so uncalled for and very out of character. We see Cordelia be a badass warrior woman that loves her parabatai and her family (specifically Alastair and Sona) very dearly and she runs off to Paris with a man she‘s only known for like four months? Five? That doesn’t make any sense! (And I’m sorry for making this about myself but I just needed to say that people are just waiting for updates on my jordelia fic and I don’t like them as much now but at the same time I don’t want to disappoint people because of that? Does that make sense?)

b) yes. The thing about cc neglecting platonic (or even familial relationships, any type of relationship that’s not romantic to be honest) relationships? Yes. I just have difficulty seeing the main cast as a tight-knit group when most of the time there’s only developments with romantic interests shown… at this point everyone is just ‘hanging out because you are my friend’s partner’ and not ‘I genuinely want to talk to you and do things with you because you are a very good person that I’d like to know more about’. (And the fact that blackstairs happened was just urggggggggggh she ruined the good and healthy friendship shown in tmi and is, supposedly, develop in tda by romanticising it! It’s like you can’t have a best friend that you’ve known all your life without falling in love with them! This makes ace and/or aro people very discouraged because it seems like the only relationship worth pursuing is romantic relationships!)

hey you! yes to all of this, thank you!!! i'm gonna try and answer this in a sort of organised way

a) exactly. i get the use of the miscommunication trope, specially in YA content, to create conflict and drama and make sure the plot doesn't get flat. but that only works if it's used to a certain extent. the way cc is writing jordelia is just annoying to read because not only is it becoming out of character for them (as you said, they're both supposed to be smart and level-headed people), it is also nearly agonising to read, at least for me as someone who cannot stand feeling second hand embarrassment. miscommunication to create drama is a good trope if the author knows when it's time to stop. which cc clearly doesn't. reading choi i was just waiting for the moment when james and cordelia would finally solve that and when i started breathing easier after the bracelet broke, there comes the miscommunication again. just. no. it's been going for too long and at this point it's annoying. as for your fic, don't apologise for talking about yourself! the best advice i can give about that is: don't worry about disappointing your readers, because you won't. in my (frankly limited) experience as a fic writer of rare pairs with close to no fanbase, recognition and feedback is nice but it's not everything. at the end of day, your fic should be something you enjoy writing about a shipp you enjoy thinking about. if you've lost interest in writing about jordelia than find another pairing that inspires you! it's okay to lose interest in a shipp and abandoning a fic, every writer does it and no one has been burned at the stake for it yet, don't worry.

b) exactly². like, putting romance above friendship or family is a common enough thing in media and cc does not need to contribute to it. it's something that always bothers me and the fact that it's SO present in a saga that is so important to me is terrible. the thing you said about how the characters seem to be only "hanging out because you are my friend's partner" yes!!!! that's exactly the idea i was trying to pass when i used that quote from magnus!!! how am i supposed to believe this people are a close ride-or-die group of friends who save the world together when on page it always seems like they're just hanging out with each other out of "you're friends with my partner so i guess we're vaguely in the same social circle"? as for the blackstairs thing you said? yes. definitely. as much as i rooted for them while reading tda, i feel like cc usually seems to step into that stereotype that a boy and a girl can't be friends without one or both having a thing for the other? and that's in all of her series? like, clary immediately assumes jace and isabelle have a thing before she finds out they're siblings, simon spent years in love with clary and they dated even if they broke up later, simon and maia dated even if they broke up later, luke spent years in love with jocelyn, emma and julian with their whole drama, kit kissing livvy out of nowhere, dru having kind of a little crush on jaime, matthew being in love with lucie and then all of a sudden falling in love with cordelia, etc. i mean???? emma and julian are the best example of this, of course, but there are so many other romantic innuendos that had no need to be there and it would change nothing in the main plot. cc could have much more page time to develop platonic and familial relationships properly if she didn't disregard those in favour of giving more unnecessary scenes and credit to the straight and unrealistically sexualized romance between the protagonists (and i say "unrealistically sexualized" cause, honestly, who takes a condom to a rescue mission in an infernal dimension and has their first time on the floor of a demonic cave, like clary and jace? who has sex, weirdly also on a cave, while being held captive and immediately after finding out your parabatai, who also happens to be the fiancé of the woman you're about to sleep with, is dead, like will and tessa? and how come a 17 year old who had never even kissed someone before, much less gone further than that, is suddenly a "sex god", in cc's own words, like julian with emma?). anyways, cc needs to learn how to develop actual human relationships that don't involve people suffering for a "forbidden" love that isn't actually as complicated as they're making it to be or thirsting over each other in unusual places in her books, because i need close platonic relationships to feed my soul and, as an author with that many characters and such a big universe, she has millions of available opportunities to stop making stories centered around progressively weaker plots that by now mostly just make everything and everyone else the background for the overly dramatic main paring.

Pajama party (part 1)

Weekends were coming closer and that meant a time for our crew to chill and relax after a long busy week with school and work. Mostly girls are with their boyfriends while uncles babysit with their nephew. However, today was different. Anoli and Nazeel were already awake and having breakfast, while Liya took some time to wake up. Lazyly, she walked to the kitchen, yawning.

Nazeel: Good morning, mommy!

Anoli: Good morning, Liya.

Liya: Good morning, everyone. How was the sleep? No nightmares?

Anoli: It was fine.

Nazeel: Same.

Liya: Good. What did you cook for breakfast today, Anoli?

Anoli: I decided to do an omelette today. With some tomatoes and greenery.

Liya: Oh, healthy one, nice.

Nazeel: Will you go on dates with Axel and Chris today?

Anoli: Yeah, while Lucifer and Michael will babysit with you.

Nazeel: Okay.

He looked at his plate as Anoli finished cooking omelette and put a slice to each plates. Meanwhile, Sona was having its own breakfast. Liya couldn’t help, but to worry a bit about today. It’s been several days since Lucifer and Nazeel didn’t talk to each other, moreover see each other. She and Anoli locked their eyes on each other for a moment, like they both had the same concern. And yet, they knew that Nazeel and Lucifer should recover their bond.

Liya: Well, I will go and make a call for now, okay?

Anoli: Sure.

Nazeel: Okay.

And Liya went to her room to pick up the phone and make a call. At first she called her boyfriend Axel, to say that in couple of minutes she will be ready. Then, she put another number, Lucifer’s one, as she made a call, but the voice that replied to her didn’t belong to King of Hell himself. It was female one, Lilith.

Lilith: Hello?

Liya: Lilith? I thought that it was Lucifer’s phone.

Lilith: Well, he is in the restroom now, so he will be ready in couple of minutes.

Liya: You say it so casually~

Lilith: You are his protege, so no secrets from you~

Liya: Agree~ Still, I'm glad to hear your voice once in a while. How are you? How is Jeff?

Lilith: Doing good, safe and sound. And you with Axel?

Liya: Same, however lately he was treating me like I was super super injured, even tho it was just a shoulder wound.

Lilith: That's so sweet of him. You better treasure him with all your heart and soul~

Liya: You bet~

They giggled as a little pause appeared between them. They both knew that physical wound was not that hurtful as emotional one.

Lilith: And how is Nazeel?

Liya: Better than couple of days ago. And yet, I'm not sure if it's good idea to let Lucifer and Nazeel talk to each other now. I mean, what if Nazeel is not ready yet? Also, how is Lucifer?

Lilith: He is doing fine, better than being anxious at least. And I'm sure that they can give it a try. You know that sooner or later they have to do it, to recover their bond.

Liya: I know, but....I wish I could stay with them to be sure that things will go well.

Lilith: It will, don't worry~ You, Anoli and your boyfriends need rest too.

The Queen of Hell thought for a moment. A memory of the camping time suddenly appeared in her mind. And then, a new idea came to her.

Lilith: Liya, dear, have you heard about such human thing like pajama party?

Liya: Oh, yeah, I did. Why such question?

Lilith: I thought about to try and do one with you, Anoli, Axel, Chris and Jeff. Last time with camping was great one~

Liya: Agree, we should do more events like this~

Lilith: Yeah~ But also I would like to ask you if you mind me inviting seven more people?

Liya: Oh wow. Why? And who?

Lilith: No worries, they're my friends~ Or should I say, my succubi~ You see, they got curious about human world too and to our humans, so I thought why not to organise a greeting pajama party. No lewds, of course~

Liya: I'm not sure how my friends will react to it. Personally I would love to meet these girls~ But what about my friends?

Lilith: We can talk with them when we meet each other. If they say yes, I can reserve a room for all of us in one of the houses on Earth.

Liya: You have houses there?

Lilith: Why not? Easy to live on Earth and do different stuff~ Plus, I will discuss it with my boyfriend too. And about Nazeel and Lucifer, I can ask Tereza to look after them.

Liya: Tereza? One of Lucifer's favourite succubus?

Lilith: Yep. Seems like he shared some info with you~

Liya: But won't it cause trouble? She is succubus after all.

Lilith: And yet, well behaved. Don't worry, just warn Nazeel about it and things will go good. I'm sure he will be curious to see other friendly demon.

Liya: Well....I can give it a try.

Lilith: Okie. Oh, Luci is coming out of the room. You can tell him about such idea and see how he reacts. Talk to you later~

Liya: Sure~

As they both finished the chat, Lilith exchanged Lucifer's phone so that he could talk to Liya, to receive the info about pajama party idea. At first Lucifer was surprised to hear it, but then agreed to take Tereza with him under a condition of Nazeel being warned about it. And as soon as the call was finished, Liya came back to kitchen, where Anoli and Nazeel have finished their breakfasts already. She breathed deeply as prepared herself to tell about further plans for today.

And that's the first part of the big story for our universe^^ Seems like our demon ladies came with a plan on how to have a nice rest. Moreover, our crew will meet new people. Will things go well for them? And how will the bond recover go?

Is your character considered hot™ in the fandom? YES / NO / IDK. ( I have no clue. I know a lot of people that find her attractive, and a lot of people who don’t. *shrug* )

Is your character considered strong in the fandom? YES? / NO / IDK. ( Maybe not physically, like compared to Garen, but she’s definitely strong emotionally. She’s learned to love herself at least and accept change & what not. )

Are they underrated? YES / NO.

Were they relevant for the main story? YES / NO / MAYBE ? (Main story? I can say that she was a big part of the Demacia changes, considering she’s the only ‘mage’ they’ve chosen to acknowledge and intertwined besides Sylas (give me Sona lore please.) but other than that, if you don’t care about Demacia, it’s not really the main story.)

Were they relevant for the main character? YES / NO / THEY’RE THE PROTAG. (She may be Riot’s poster girl, but she still isn’t the main character. See above.)

Are they widely known in their world? YES / NO / MAYBE ? ( I’m assuming only Demacia (obv) & Noxus really know about the Crownguards or at least have heard of them. Demacia is sort of isolationist & so I don’t see her being known around the world. Maybe in older lore, when she was out and about on missions and actually spying. New lore, probably not. If they had heard of Crownguards, they’d probably think of Garen first. )

How’s their reputation? GOOD / BAD / NEUTRAL. ( Depending on who you ask. )

How strictly do you follow canon? — I really try to stick to canon, but of course there needs to be some leniency in my opinion. If I very strictly followed canon, I think I’d be bored LOL. I like trying to mix a bit of old Lux’s personality with new ( since I was deeply in love with her before the lore changes. ) and try my best to make her unique. New Lux is definitely fake in a different way as it is with hiding a secret, but old Lux being two-faced, resentful and cold resonated with me. That being said, I still respect the canon, because I like the direction they’ve taken with Demacia.

SELL YOUR MUSE! Aka try to list everything, which makes your muse interesting in your opinion to make them spicy for your mutuals. — Lux is already an inquisitive, curious person, so it’d be easy for her to find any way to interact with people / muses she already deems interesting. She wants to see and experience the world for herself, and she’s rather friendly ( unless you somehow show her that you aren’t. ) so it’s easy to make friends with her!! She tends to break traditions and rebel against the standards / life that was set up for her. She loves learning, especially about people, so she’ll have a grand time with your muse -- that is, if you like slow burn / any relationship development. All in all, she is a sweet, adventurous and sassy girl. She wants to meet all kinds of different souls. Need I say more?

Now the OPPOSITE, list everything why your muse could not be so interesting (even if you may not agree, what does the fandom perhaps think?). — I don’t know. I’m biased and totally love her. But some people might find her a bit annoying, or look at her on a surface level and assume that’s all there is to her or find she’s airheaded. A peppy, light mage who spews bullshit about positivity and what not. Faking it to make it. Or what have you. I dunno, I think she’s telling herself to stay positive more than anyone else. She also doesn’t have a tragic backstory, she grew up quite nicely and I’m surprised her mother didn’t shove the annuller at her and just let her sass her like that. She was lucky, to say the least, in comparison to Sylas, and she’s quite young, literally doesn’t have any life experience compared to other champions. Maybe some people find her cliche and overrated.

What inspired you to rp your muse? — I wrote her way back when in 2012. Or something like that. Fell in love immediately with her upon reading her judgment in the JoJ and wanted to give RPing a try. Took a break for a while and decided to take a step back from her, to see where I wanted to go with her. She’s absolutely my favorite character, let alone champion. Still love her to this day!

What keeps your inspiration going? — MUSIC. Honestly, music helps my muse so much. Any song that reminds me of her or any ship I have with her, or any song that reminds me of a hardship she’s faced, it helps so much. And obviously, my friends here. They are always so supportive of me. Heck, I might not play her as much anymore in League, but she still has a special place in my heart.

Do you think you give your character justice? YES …? / NO. ( I think so, but I doubt myself ALL THE TIME, or think I could change something else about her, or make her more likable. I think... she’s alright for the most part? )

Do you frequently write headcanons? YES / NO. ( Sometimes a random headcanon will spring to my mind and I’ll need to write it down. Most of the time, I don’t bother writing it down since I need to consider it more. Or I think too hard about it and think ‘ nah, that’s not right. ’ )

Do you sometimes write drabbles? YES / NO. ( I used to write them a LOT MORE. Years ago. About Ez/Lux. Now I kinda write them in my Google Drive. )

Do you think a lot about your Muse during the day? YES / NO. ( She’s too cute. )

Are you confident in your portrayal? YES / NO. ( Half & half. I’m always wondering if I’m messing it up or making her too nice or forgiving. If that is even such a thing. )

Are you confident in your writing? YES / NO. ( I think my writing is okay for the most part, I do want to work on descriptions / using more detail and similes/metaphors in my writing. )

Are you a sensitive person? YES / NO. ( Yes. I get emotional for a lot of things. )

Do you accept criticism well about your portrayal? — If it’s constructive and about my WRITING, then yes. Portrayal doesn’t matter to me too much. One person can have an opinion about how Muse A would react to a certain event, and another person could have a different one. It’s all subjective at that point imo, unless it’s obviously something that a majority of people agree on. But I’m not going to bring people down for their portrayal and I expect people not to do that to me either. If you simply don’t like my portrayal, you don’t have to follow/interact. There’s plenty of different potrayals of Lux too, so I’d be confused if someone felt the need to hark on me about it. It’s really that simple.

Do you like questions, which help you explore your character? — Yes!! They let me think about small details or situations that I wouldn’t really think about otherwise. I love them.

If someone disagrees to a headcanon of yours, do you want to know why? — Sure. I’m open to discussions, in case I missed something that was said by Riot or something along those lines. But if it’s something that wasn’t explicitly stated, like Lux’s favorite dessert or whatever, I doubt we’ll change our minds. We can agree to disagree.

If someone disagrees with your portrayal, how would you take it? — Shrug. As I said above, that’s their opinion and how they see Lux. Everyone sees her differently. I’d probably be a little offended, because I put work into her, but that’s about the only thing.

If someone really hates your character, how do you take it? — Shrug. They wouldn’t be the first nor the last person to tell me they hate Lux, whether it’s because she’s too popular and gets all the skins, or that she’s basic, or whatever. I really don’t care?? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of her. Just please don’t shove it in my face if you hate her or bother talking to me about it. If you love her, please DO shove it in my face.

Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors? — Yes, sure. I always welcome feedback. I also know I use too many commas and am trying to work on that, but yes. If you could help me improve my writing in a NICE way, then I welcome it.

Do you think you are easy going as a mun? — I think so. I don’t like rushing people or demanding their time. I’m also open to writing any plots or ideas you have in mind. The only reason I won’t like you is if you obviously disrespect me.

Almost An Angel

I recently drew a sona for Hymns of Struggle, and now I want to write it.

Hymns of Struggle belongs to @pipesflowforeverandever

She wasn’t an angel.

Specifically, she wasn’t Alice Angel. Sure, she had some of the features of the toon, like the halo and the dress, but she was altogether incomplete. She only had one horn, one glove, and one proper leg, and her halo was embedded in her head. Her other leg was basically a pillar of ink while her other arm almost resembled a wing, despite basically being another dripping ink mass. The majority of her body was covered in ink, although various patches of yellow skin were visible. Sometimes her mouth was freed from the ink, revealing that her lips were permanently black, as though she were wearing black lipstick. Only one eye was ever visible, although it was only really a glowing orb. All of her was drippy, from her dress to her hair (if one could even call the ink on her head that) to the ink covering her body.

She wasn’t a particularly remarkable ink creature. She had enough sapience to hold her form and sort of had an identity, but her form was far from perfect and she didn’t remember too much about who she’d been before falling into the ink. She certainly wasn’t any Alice. She could sing, but not nearly as well as Susie or Allison. She couldn’t dance all that well, but she wasn’t afraid to try even if she looked silly. She couldn’t fight. Well, she could. She could swing an ax or a pipe. But only with one hand. All in all, though, she was just sort of...there. Another lost soul in the sea of souls.

Joey watched her sometimes, for what reason he wasn’t sure. Perhaps it was just to torture himself. Because he knew what had happened to her was his fault. She was an innocent in this matter. An outsider. Whoever she’d been, she’d come to the studio out curiosity. She’d said something about a blog post, but it was possible he’d misheard her. He’d seen her enter and wander around. He’d seen her fall prey to the Ink Demon. It hadn’t taken long. She’d decided to turn on the machine and the demon had pounced, dragging into the puddles. The machine had spat her out in the form she currently possessed, half-formed and imperfect.

Sometimes, she wondered who she’d been before this place. She had no memories of her past life. She’d simply woken up in the studio one day, fully formed and strange. Others she’d met had tapes with their voices on them, tapes showing who they’d once been. She didn’t have any tapes with her voice on them. The people with the tapes had worked at the studio from what she could tell. So she probably hadn’t worked there. She would have liked to talk about her thoughts with someone, but there weren’t very many people to talk to.

The Alice on the lower floors didn’t like her all that much, screaming that she was a false angel. The Borises couldn’t really talk, and they avoided her anyway. She’d tried to talk to Norman a few times, but the Projectionist wasn’t interested in conversation. The Butcher Gang were pretty out of the question. She didn’t even think they could talk. She’d never met Joey in person, the studio keeping her away from him. She thought he sounded nice from the tapes, though. Sammy was pretty much the only person she’d ever talked to. He tolerated her most of the time, but she could tell he found her to be a bit irritating sometimes. Most of their conversations involved him telling her to have faith in their Lord. She didn’t really know what that meant and she didn’t have any real interest in worshipping a cartoon demon.

Still, he seemed like he knew what he was talking about. He called her “little lamb” most of the time. She liked that. It felt special. Her own special little nickname. Especially since she didn’t really have a name. Well, she had a name, she just didn’t remember what it was. She was pretty sure it started with an F. That sounded right to her. F and then an I or an E. Fee sounded good or F-i said like fee. People had called her that before, she was sure of it. She could almost hear a young woman calling her that. The rest of her name was too hard to figure out, especially her last name. She got the idea that it was something rather strange and hard to pronounce, at least for other people.

Fi spent a lot of time in the animation department, writing down everything that came into her mind. Her handwriting was terrible, and it was strange writing with only four fingers, but she could read it. She wasn’t sure how much of it was her own life, though. She’d definitely never been a child in Victorian London, that was for sure. She thought maybe she’d been a writer. That would explain all the strange things she “remembered”. A lot of the things that passed through her mind were things that couldn’t possibly be real. Angels, demons, gods, magic. There was no way any of that was from her own life. She kept her papers in one of the animation desks. She was the only one who ever really went up there. She drew sometimes too. She liked drawing, even if she couldn’t only draw with her fingers and ink.

More than anything, she wanted to share the stories she remembered. Alice didn’t want to hear her stories, but Sammy listened. She couldn’t tell if he was actually interested, but he listened. He didn’t give her a lot of feedback on them, which was disappointing. She knew his mind was elsewhere. He had to keep up his devotion Bendy in order to be saved, or so he said. Fi didn’t really believe in Bendy the way Sammy did. They both knew this. But she liked helping him. She got lonely easily and liked spending time with him. He’d been delighted upon discovering she could play the violin. They were both less delighted with she pointed out she couldn’t really do the fingerings due to her lack of a defined left hand.

He sent Fi to put up Bendy cutouts in Alice’s domain a lot. She seemed convinced that she could somehow make friends with Alice. Despite her status as a ‘false angel’, Fi was slowly getting Alice to warm up to her. Although, it wasn’t like Alice was going to admit it. But she didn’t yell if Fi wandered into her domain. Fi liked doing things for her as well, leading Alice to often ask her to fetch ink hearts for her or exterminate Butcher Gang members. Fi did whatever Alice asked short of getting extra thick ink. She started crying whenever she was tasked with taking ink from the Swollen Searchers. Fi had a soft heart, apparently.

Fi liked helping people, she’d found. It made her feel good to make people smile, or at least make the Hell they found themselves in a little more bearable. She did have moments of darkness, though. Whoever she’d been before this, she’d definitely struggled with her mental demons. No matter how happy or cheerful she tried to be, there would always be days when she’d wake up and just find herself miserable. When these days came, she’d just lay on the ground and do nothing. Sammy left her alone during these days. The first few times he’d discovered her in this state, he’d told her not to despair, as Bendy would save them. She’d given a vaguely affirmative grunt and hadn’t move. He hadn’t tried that approach again.

Fi avoided talking about their predicament most of the time, but she was always thinking about it. Occasionally, her thoughts just...slipped out. Like when Sammy was putting up cutouts in the entrance to the Heavenly Toys area. She’d tagged along, mostly because she was feeling lonely again.

“Why don’t I have a tape?” She asked. Sammy looked up from the cutout. She couldn’t see his face behind the mask, so it was hard to tell how he was feeling.

“I’m not sure what you mean.” He replied.

“Everyone else has tapes.” She said. “Why don’t I have one?”

“I don’t believe you ever worked here.” Sammy turned back to his cutout. “You simply wandered in one day.”

“Oh...” She frowned slightly. She’d known that, but it was still disappointing. The tapes told you things about people. About who they’d once been. She wanted to know who she used to be.

The two of them were quiet for a long time.

“Did you see me before I became like this?” Her voice was quiet. She didn’t know what she’d looked like before, but she knew her body was wrong. Being so thin felt unnatural to her. Sure, her skeletal form gave her the illusion of an hourglass figure, but she didn’t like it. She thought she’d been soft once, squishy and nice to cuddle with.

“I did not.” Sammy shook his head.

“Okay.” She nodded slowly. She wanted to fidget, but she couldn’t really do it when she only had one proper hand. She also had a desire to bounce her right leg, but couldn't since it was a pillar of ink.

Sammy glanced back at her, sensing her sudden shift in mood.

“Have faith, my little lamb.” He said. “Our Lord will set us free.”

“If you say so...” She didn’t completely believe him. But she wanted to. She wanted to get out of here. She wanted to be alright.

Only when Francine arrive did she really begin to believe that they could get out somehow.

Your first OC ever?god. its got to be Super Kitty. when i was like … an incredibly small child I used to draw comic strips about this feline caped crusader, who was friends with everyone in the city, and the comics always involved him stopping an evil banana man from stealing money from the local bank. He was paid with donuts for his service to the city. i still remember how to draw him.

2. Do you have a personal favourite among your OCs?i’d get arrested if I didn’t answer this with Bronze, probably… but really, they’re very important to me

Westrin’s just fun as hell, i love the guy.

Two OCs of yours that look alike despite not being related?real talk now… there’s at least five different characters that i refer to as a whole as “bronze-tangential”, who started out as, “what would bronze be like if they were in this world?” and then becoming their own thing within said world because i just get stupid attached

14. Introduce an OC with a tragic backstory Mmm… there’s a few of them, most obviously Lent (whose background I did a short comic about). Basically his entire town got eaten by ghosts and turned into zombies, he only barely survived with a sliver of his soul left.

16. Which one of your OCs would be the best at biology (school subject)? Probably Bronze’s dad! I don’t talk about him much, but his name’s Devon Reed, and he was a biotech developer specialising in android design.

I often describe him as being something of a reverse Arthur Weasley - a very fatherly scientist fascinated to the moon and back with the concept of magic.

Any OC OTPs? having trouble thinking of a lot of them right now, but there’s Eric + Lent & Naiadine + Tailias from Emerald Sigil, Avken + Baromet from my space campaign world, Sydd + Wyvv from my unnamed campaign world, and I’ve been considering Westrin + Servant as an interesting dynamic in Servant’s story

18. Any OC crackships? My character Bismuth and @autistictimeknight‘s oc Eros. Theyre so fucking in love, I love it. Its been awhile but I do still think about them sometimes.

As I recall, Eros is an empath, she can read other people’s emotions. But Bismuth is a robot, and Eros can’t read her. Because of this Eros can let go of her fear of unintentionally manipulating the emotions of her date, which would hold her back from most other relationships.

19. Introduce an OC that means a lot to you (and explain why)Hey, meet Bronze! I definitely do not talk about them every five minutes, why would you say that.

Bronze was with me through two of the hardest years of my life so far, and being a DND character they grew with me, both as a fighter and as a person. They were non-binary before I started using those pronouns, they were the first character or person or anything who I fought someone about using the right pronouns for, they make a great icebreaker for if I want to see how someone reacts to non-binary pronouns …

One funny anecdote about Bronze is that when I first made them, their “gimmick” was that they would sometimes glitch out and mess up their speech, mostly because I wanted an excuse not to engage in the roleplaying (which I was very bad at). The interesting thing is that as I got better at interacting with the group, we both grew out of needing it very quickly.

I’m very proud of Bronze.

20. Do any of your OCs sing? If they sing, care to share more details (headcanon voice, what kind of songs they like etc)?Westrin is a bard! His singing voice sounds like Bill Wurtz and these are his theme songs.

22. Is there any OC of yours people tend to mischaracterize? If yes, how? I honestly dont know… no-one talks to me about them, haha!

23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?I’m gonna go with Enza for this one. Enza Colie was originally written entirely because I wanted an antagonist for a short starring his sister, Jane Colie. But the more I fleshed out his reasonings for acting how he did and explored his character, the more I realised he’d make an even more interesting character if allowed to have a redemption arc, too.

I just want to state for the record that I was very reluctant to the idea, and he basically dragged his way out of the villain pit entirely of his own accord. I am dubiously proud of him, and also a bit scared.

24. If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be and why?Probably either Eric (Big Man, Best Friend), Crocus (Mother figure), Reed (Father Figure), Westrin (hed just make a good friend u kno??), or Bismuth (she makes good conversation!)

25. The OC that resembles you the most (same hobby, height, shared like/dislike for something etc?)probably the homestuck fan-troll Hallux, but that’s mostly because they were based on a troll-sona I made awhile ago. They’re a hope/prospit game designer who is small and full of rage and love

Have you ever had to change your OC’s design or something else about them against your will? this is an interesting one… i don’t think ive ever had something Bad in a design ive done called to my attention by someone, but I did create my character Servant at around the same time I was first really expanding the diversity of my casts. (since i don’t talk about him often, a little context: he’s a magic spirit creature bound to human form to serve the royal family of the land and follow their orders.)

somehow, younger-and-more-stupid me managed to have the revelation that making this “eternal slave” character literally anything other than a white man, especially as a white author, would be Pretty Not Good. im … thats really, really not something i should pat myself on the back for, but i do consider it one of the biggest bullets dodged in my artistic career so far that i realised that not all representation is good representation so quickly, before i could make that incredibly, incurably stupid mistake.

after that, trying to make sure my characters and their presentations don’t harm anyone pretty much has become a paranoia. i don’t seem to have stepped on any toes yet, but when it inevitably happens, please let me know - i didnt know, and i want to fix it!

28. Your most dangerous OC? god damn it i have no idea!!! is it the terminus? glitch in the matrix god of chaos motherfucker?is it sarle? terrifying calculating scientist with the power of the soul at her fingertips ??? is it ares??? is it athena????? is it petra?????? the gatekeeper????

… actually, the gatekeeper might be it, if “dangerous” just refers to “the amount of raw power it can wield”. the Gatekeeper is a titanic entity that exists in interdimensional multiverse space, and its implied to have the ability to create and destroy entire universe bubbles at will. for what cosmic purpose, no-one knows.

at a more personal scale, though, literally all of the aforementioned characters are pretty bad to run into too.

29. Which one of your OCs would go investigate an abandoned house at night without telling anyone they’re going?god. Mina or Tawn. Tawn is the Indiana Jonesy type and probably dumb enough, but also competent enough not to get into too much trouble there. Mina would probably drag her friends along.

30. Which one of your OCs would most likely have a secret stuffed animal collection? XEN09. No-one knows, because no-one knows xir personal identity. Xe absolutely does, though. It’s less of a secret if you know xir in person, but good luck finding out about it otherwise.

31. Pick one OC of yours and explain what their tumblr blog would be like (what they reblog, layout, anything really)dave just reblogs memes all the time tbh. they like to keep tabs on the ridiculous superhero news going on, and they show human jokes and cat videos to their alien gf. they dont really post or add to posts, but they talk in tags a lot.

32. Which one of your OCs would be the most suitable horror game protagonist and why? i want to say tawn because i literally just realised ive been imagining their voice as sounding like luigi this entire fucking time and i never realised until this exact instant

33. Your shyest OC?probably baromet. they prefer to keep to themself in their hideout, with their collection of shiny things. they don’t really enjoy trying to communicate much, mostly because they expect to get yelled at.

34. Do you have any twin characters?Yes! At least two sets;

- Crocus and Sarle. (x) (x) They don’t exactly have a very well-developed relationship, but they are both quite important to the plot of my campaign world, and they are both very interesting. Crocus is a motherly figure who just exudes friendliness, while Sarle is .. very much not that, a researcher studying very gruesome things and pushing the boundaries of reality.

- Jane and Enza Colie. I haven’t talked a whole lot about either of them here, but I’d rather leave their story to do the talking whenever I get around to it. Essentially, the both of them were intended to do the dirty work for their crime boss family, but Jane ditched to study medicine. Most of the conflict between the two of them comes out of Enza not understanding why she made the choice she did, and coming to understand how he’s been manipulated.

35. Any sibling characters? I can’t really think of any off the top of my head, I should … I should really work on that.

I can talk about Westrin, though. Westrin (a demigod of many things, but namely bards, travel, travelers, and people who are lost) often becomes close friends with mortals, sometimes practically adopting them. These people who consider him family, and people who have received his blessing, are able to use his surname, Brilanta, as their own if they choose. So I guess all of the Brilantas are siblings, at least in spirit.

Oh, and XEN09 has like, seven siblings. Xe is the second-oldest, and least remarkable.

36. Do you have OC pairs where the other part belongs to someone else (siblings, lovers, friends etc)? I already talked about Eros and Bismuth up there a ways in question 18, but I’ll talk about another relationship here. @autistictimeknight‘s character, Nova the Alchemist, is mentor and adopted parental figure to my character Munna. Munna … Munna isn’t a very good apprentice. She tries very hard.

37. Introduce an OC who is not quite human That’s most of them, I’m not quite sure what to say here. Bronze is an android? Bronze again? Westrin? All the aliens ??

38. Which one of your OCs would be the best dancer? man. uh. westrin or jean. or perhaps valencia.

39. Introduce any character you want ??? uhhhHHHhhHHH Lord Brillium is the reigning deity of the Cloud Kingdoms in the other campaign setting I’m working on. They represent light and the quest for knowledge, and spend most of their days in the Cathedral Observatory watching the stars.

40. Any fond memories linked to your characters? Feel free to share!one time bronze flew a hover-bike through the stained glass window in a cathedral blaring all star by smash mouth on their iguana

also one time bronze rickrolled a rakshasa demon and then pulled updog on it like, two minutes later

another time bronze scared off an entire army by pretending to be an automated security system

43. Do you have any certain type when you create your OCs? Do you tend to favour some certain traits or looks? It’s time to confesshaha. uh. i might.

aside from the entire “bronze-tangential characters” thing i mentioned awhile back, I tend to really like designing characters with hair color lighter than their skin color. it just looks so cool man. i love drawing freckles but dont put them on enough characters. i like really curly hair, but also really long and flowy hair. i like drawing triangular body types, and pointy/prominent noses.

44. Something you like about your OCs in generaluhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh this is a really vague question. m. m.

45. A character you no longer use?there’s old versions of characters, but a lot of my older ones have been somehow repurposed. First of all thanks to @mizuaoi for being an inspiration for writing stuff. You have no idea how much you made me want to write fics so I owe you an infinite amount of thanks!

A brand new fic that I wanted to do as well. My other fic The Guardian will be put on hold since I’m struggling to write that.

BEEP BEEP BEEP … BEEP BEEP BEEP

The alarm clock rang. It read the date of 9/25/2013. Rays of sunlight peered through the window blinds hitting a lone face as she turned to shut up the annoying alarm. Strands of pink hair floated down her face as she struggled to get her eyes open.

Finally she turned on her back, and stared at her ceiling. Eyes still fluttering as she raised her arm and rubbed her face. She then sat up and threw her wobbling legs and feet on the cold wooden surface of her apartment.

Vi frowned, “God I hate mornings.”

She went through her usual routine of going to the wash room to fix herself up. She took a quick bath and wrapped a robe around her built body. She ran the faucet and ran her hands through the cool chilly water. She splashed her face with it helping her refresh herself as she stared at herself at the mirror. She gave a devilish grin and reached for the toothbrush to brush her teeth. Finally she gave her pink hair a thorough brush with the brushes she had laying on the cabinet besides the sink.

She grabbed her clothes, quickly put them on and grabbed the officer's coat hanging on the coat rack before throwing it on her back. She grabbed her keys and wallet, then left her apartment.

The streets of Piltover were bustling with city life as people went about their day. Either it was going to work, doing tasks, opening up shops, getting on public transit, eating breakfast and so on. Vi was just one among the sea of people walking by all these people. These were the people she defended and protected, after all she is the Piltover Enforcer of the Piltover Police Department. A title she took a lot of pride in.

She smiled of the thought of the opportunities she was given over the course of the year. First being not being tossed in prison and joining the police force, having the opportunity of joining the League of Legends and doing combat with mages, fighters, and warriors of all shapes and sizes, and meeting the person that gave her all of this in the first place. Caitlyn, the Sheriff of Piltover and her partner in taking down criminals and their schemes.

As she continued to be lost in thought, Vi nearly passed the Police Department building. She stumbled back as she opened the door as she was greeted by the person at the desk.

“Ah Officer Vi! Good morning!” he greeted her.

Vi headed to the stairs that would lead to the offices, “Morning!” as she continued upstairs.

Going past all the cubicles of the different officers and managers she finally reached her office. A plaque next to the door read, ‘Sheriff and Enforcer Office’ beneath it ‘Piltover’s Finest’. It was very convenient that Caitlyn wanted to share an office with her partner when Vi first arrived. She knew that the combined paperwork, and investigations they would both be working on would benefit them both being in the same room.

Vi opened the door as she saw Caitlyn on her desk reading the newspaper while taking a sip of what she could only assume to be herbal tea.

Without making eye contact, Caitlyn smiled and commented,

“Wow. You are on time for work for once. I’m impressed.”

Vi grinned and remarked, “Good morning to you too Cupcake.”

“Did you clock in today?”

Caitlyn wanted to make sure Vi clocked in since she occasionally forgets to and that would mean more clarifications and paperwork for her.

“Yes! How many times do I have to tell you, I will not forget to clock in!”

Caitlyn smiled, “That’s good to hear.” she lowered the paper to look at Vi.

“So what’s on the plate today Cupcake?” Vi eagerly asked as she leaned against her desk.

“More paperwork. But fewer than what we had yesterday so that means we get to go on patrol earlier and get some stuff done.”

Vi relieved that there was not much paperwork. She despised it with her entire soul and being.

“Thank the stars!” as she fist pumped in the air, earning a chuckle from Caitlyn.

Come on. Let’s get this done so we can get out of here sooner.”

Vi happily obliged as the both of them began to work.

As the hours passed by, Caitlyn and Vi finished the majority of the work. As they were on the final documentations, Caitlyn’s eyebrows raised.

“Vi, take a look at this.”

Vi walked over and took a look at the files that Caitlyn handed over to her.

“Look, the same graffiti marks. Combination of blue and pink. Stolen goods, property damage. But little injuries. All on the other side of the city”

Vi gritted her teeth and clenched her fists, “God dammit. Why did she go from something as breaking in and destroying the walls of the freaking Ecliptic Vault to starting a small fire and destroying a park bench?”

Vi groaned in frustration as Caitlyn was still baffled. Jinx was a major problem to Piltover ever since she arrived in Piltover. It did not help that she became the League’s most recent champion as well exempting her from being killed.

Caitlyn commented, “Her last crime was only 4 days ago. That is a long time considering the price on her head and what she is capable of doing”

“What good does she even get from this? Wasting ammo? Causing chaos to the citizens?”

Caitlyn interrupted her,

“She has been trying to get your attention. For you to chase her and attempt to stop her. She finds the thrill in that.”

Vi rubbed the temples of her forehead, “What should we do then Cupcake. We can’t just let her be doing these things. Big or small.”

Caitlyn walked over to her and laid her hands on the exhausted Enforcer. The touch sent a small chill up her back as she turned to see Caitlyn.

Vi took a sudden the realization of how pretty she looked. Her shining blue hair. It looked as if it was from the finest silk from Shurima. The smooth skin and the complexion of her face. The beautiful blue eyes she gazed her with.

Her heart beat skipped

Oh god… she is really pretty….

“Look, we will discuss it later. Jinx’s attacks have been spreading out and less frequently. We will get her, she will be stopped.” Caitlyn smiled.

A small hint a pink, formed on her cheeks as she blushed of her thoughts,

“Uh.. um yeah. I understand Cupcake.”

Caitlyn grabbed her jacket and turned back to her partner, “Come on, let’s go on patrol. We finished our paperwork anyways.”

Still flustered, Vi stood up and grabbed her jacket,

“Yeah, let’s go.”

Vi drove the patrol vehicle as Caitlyn was watching from the passenger's seat as they went on patrol throughout the city. Nothing too out of the ordinary happened as they handed out the usual speeding and parking tickets. They also did check ups and small investigation that did take more than 7 minutes. Caitlyn was mostly doing all the investigations while Vi stood guard. When their time patrolling was nearly done, they finished their last ticket before the both of them entered the vehicle.

As they headed back Caitlyn asked Vi,

“Are you going to the Harrowing Costume party that Ahri and Sona are hosting at the Institute of War?”

Vi raised an eyebrow, “We are having one of those?”

“Apparently so.” Caitlyn went to grab her cellphone.

“Who is invited?” Vi questioned.

“Well we are. That’s for sure.”

Caitlyn scrolled through her phone,

“Oh there is a list of guests they made here on a event page.” she read through some of the names,

“A lot of people are going to attend. They will even have Pentakill perform, and food will be provided by some of the other champions there.”

Vi in the back of mind thought the idea of a party was not the greatest, however the thought of spending time with Caitlyn outside of the office did sound like the best thing. Seeing her in different clothing or different makeup, or maybe styling her hair differ-

WAIT, WHY ARE YOU THINKING THESE THINGS. WHAT HAS GOTTEN INTO YOU VI. WHERE DID THIS EVEN COME FROM. ONE LOOK AND YOU ARE SOLD WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH-

“Vi did you hear me?”

Vi snapped herself back from yelling at herself,

“Oh yeah sure!”

Though she had no idea what what she said sure on, Vi thought it could not have been something that important.

Once the two got back to the police station, they grabbed their belongings, clocked out, and walked out. However they were walking in the same direction. Confused Vi questioned,

“Cupcake? Your place is this way?”

“Oh yes. Just a block further down. I don’t live too far from the station.”

Vi never realized that she lived near Caitlyn since she never seen her house. Caitlyn was always leaving later than she did so she never saw her leave her office.

Shyly she questioned and slightly blushed,

“Do you uh… want me to walk you home?”

Caitlyn, surprised by the offer, smiled.

“Thank you Vi.”

As they were walking down the street, Vi could hear her own heart beating rapidly as she was walking beside Caitlyn.

She was so dumbfounded at herself that after all these months that NOW she was getting these emotions. Seemingly out of nowhere. Just one look and bam as if she was hit with her own gauntlets.

Okay calm down Vi. I don't know what has been happening with you but you need to get your act together. Whatever this is, needs to stop. She is the Sheriff of Piltover. Why are you even thinking these things at all? God you are such an idiot.

She glanced at her momentarily to find Caitlyn walking about huddled about as her hair flew about in the cold autumn air. She noticed her facial features again and looked back away from her.

FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKK

Finally before the walk would consume her, Vi stood in front of Caitlin's apartment condo. She was fairly wealthy so could afford something like this. As she was grabbing her keys from her bag, she thanked Vi with a smile,

“Thank you so much for working incredibly hard today! You have doing a great job Vi. Also, thank you for walking me home!”

Vi smiled trying to hide her blush, scratched the back of her head,

“Oh no problem Cupcake. It was nothing.”

Caitlyn entered the door but looked back before she closed the door,

“Oh I almost forgot, I never thought you wanted to come to the party with me. I thought you not to be a party person!”

Wait… What?

“Oh uh yeah sure! It does sound fun with more people am I right?” as Vi gave a nervous chuckle.

When did I say yes to this?

Vi realized that she said ‘Oh yeah sure’ to Caitlyn asking her to accompany her to said Harrowing Party.

OH GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE

“Well good night Vi! I should be seeing you on the Rift tomorrow correct?”

“Yeah! I'll be seeing you”

With that Caitlyn closed the door leaving Vi outside alone. Realizing the events that happened, she turned and continue to walk home in complete silence empty in thought. By the time she reached her apartment, she placed her keys and wallet on the dining table. Threw her jacket on the coat hanger and flopped on her bed looking back up on the ceiling she stared at earlier this morning. After several seconds she grabbed her pillow and smothered her own face. She yelled into the pillow, as it muffled her scream.

Because yes (Part 2)

21. Your most artistic OC

Not counting the various singer OCs, I’m gonna go with the obvious one and say Nio in Chrisis. She is a personification of my creativity, after all!

22. Is there any OC of yours people tend to mischaracterize? If yes, how?

In all honesty I can see people getting Ruby Raleigh (DOTS:DD) wrong. She does seem like the typical anime protag (well, maybe she kinda is ^^;) but I feel like she’s not as... annoying, per say. I feel like she’s always had some sort of heroism in her this whole time that she’s never noticed before, but seems covered by the “gluttonous punk rocker” sona she has.

23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?

I actually may or may not be posting about this later in the evening ^^;

24. If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be and why?

I’m sorry I love Cobalt too much, but I wanna say him. I wanna give him a big hug.

25. The OC that resembles you the most (same hobby, height, shared like/dislike for something etc?)

...Tigerlily, aha- We’re both short, have short hair, pretty gay, and honestly pretty useless. And we’ve both done bad things and felt those bad things, but I want to change Tig to be a positive character, so I can be positive too! We’re also both very picky eaters, whoops-

26. Have you ever had to change your OC’s design or something else about them against your will?

Emphasis on against my will. I changed a bunch of my OCs from a previous time into the DOTS characters everyone knows now because I was afraid from all the backlash I had recieved from them, especially from someone I don’t like talking about now.

Although it was a tragedy to scrap something so dear to me, I made not one, but TWO different stories because of that!

27. Any OCs that were inspired by a certain song?

First off, Yang Blake (DOTS: DD) was based off of Bulletproof Heart by My Chemical Romance! I was pretty blank on his personality at first, but the second I heard Bulletproof Heart while making his character he just sorta ended up as an embodiement of that song! I can never actually talk about Yang’s personality without mentioning the song!

This next one’s pretty recent actually! I haven’t drawn her digitally yet, but the song Valiant Heart by Nyxtheshield featuring Melodiva inspired my OC Princess Orlene from Dragon Destiny! I imagined the song to be her singing to Storm Gray, another character in the story, and I ended up getting the sweet and calm and flowing voice as inspiration for Orlene’s personality! I had already made her basic concept and design, but the song definitely helped with her personality.

28. Your most dangerous OC?

First off without spoilers, Ater from DOTS: DD. She’s never actually meant to be a main villain during DOTS: DD, but in all honesty she’s the most dangerous that I can actually say.

Going off of non-spoilery territory... - Dark from Last Light! He’s the unofficial “king” of the Darksiders in the story, he’s manipulative and will get EXTREMELY enraged when something doesn’t go his way. Did I mention he’s like part butterfly monster? Yeah. - Ringo from PSG! Although he’s an anime parody character, he’s solely meant to become bloodlusty in the story, nearly wiping out all his friends with the exception of Momo, who isn’t present during said scene - Ventus from AuAg. He’s not particularly evil, though a bit lacking on morals and therefore ending up with The “King of Switchblade Fights” title. If he puts his all into a fight, you’re either dead or about to be sent on a very urgent hospital trip.

29. Which one of your OCs would go investigate an abandoned house at night without telling anyone they’re going?

Zephyr from Sky Games is the ONE that comes into my head. I admit he’s technically a game character model, but he’s less talk and more action. Also he acts typically emo without even wearing black. Weird.

30. Which one of your OCs would most likely have a secret stuffed animal collection?

Rose Morganite from DOTS: DD and Nimbus Fulmen from AuAg. Both are sweet kids that honestly get put through too much to handle at their age, emphasis on Sweet. Nimbus is sorta akin to Steven in SU which is why I imagine him to love them, Rose just happens to love stuffed animals since she’s honestly a bit more childish

31. Pick one OC of yours and explain what their tumblr blog would be like (what they reblog, layout, anything really)

These two sounded the most funny to me so here ya go:

Ruby (DOTS: DD) reblogs a bunch of neon lights and rock bandom things, she’s probably obsessed with red/black color schemes so anything with that too. Also maybe even a sword or two, can’t go wrong with some cool-looking weaponry!

Ventus (AuAg) is... so terribly edgy tbh. He reblogs a buncha lyrics to the song “Lights Out” by MSI (PUNCH YA LIGHTS OUT, HIT THE PAVEMENT, THAT’S WHAT I CALL ENTERTAINMENT), knives, knives, more knives, that kinda shit. But also he’d reblog soap carving videos until he reaches post limit. He’s honestly not in love with killing 24/7; the guy just loves knives

32. Which one of your OCs would be the most suitable horror game protagonist and why?

Erin from Beyond Repair. She’s already mostly alone throughout the story, which already in itself seems on the border of horror. Also she reacts to things much less, she’s not really afraid of anything so it’d just be the video that goes “In the name of the father, the son, and holy spirit, fuck off please”

33. Your shyest OC?

Rose Morganite from DOTS: DD, definitely. As youngest of the paladins, especially of a pink soul, she’s overall shy around adults and other people. She likes being alone if she can, but rather than Tig’s crippling social anxiety she’s more of a shy kid than anything else.

34. Do you have any twin characters? 35. Any sibling characters?

Note: NO SHIPPING ANY OF THEM. EVER.

Twins: -Yin and Yang (DOTS: DD/DOTS: SF) - Arke and Iris (DOTSverse) - Turquoise and Zetto (DOTS: 5x5) Technically they are like one day apart or so but they see themselves as twins and age at the exact same rate. 5x5 Paladins are weird in that way - Roman and Remus (Dragon Destiny) - Ultra and Aqua (Dragon Destiny) - PT and Prince Azurite (SOTGC) - Pandia and Cynthia (DOTSverse) - Robin and Roxy (Zero Percent) - Nox and Pax (My newest story, Empiretale: Starlight Speedway)

Nahh... actually I don’t remember if I ever did. I’m gonna say no though.

37. Introduce an OC who is not quite human

I’ve talked about the paladins before, and the meme says an OC and not a whole race, sooo-

Storm and Chai are half dragons! Though the dragons are more based off of wolves since I suck at lizards right now O_O; whoopsie. They’re part of a science experiment, so they’re only two people out of a semi-big population of half-dragons. I drew Chai and his dragon form last night!

38. Which one of your OCs would be the best dancer?

I want to say Yang from DOTS: DD since he’s the one I jokingly said took ballet at one point in his life. Also I say jokingly because the dude was obsessed with rap music as a kid which probably doesn’t go too well with ballet. Aka kiddo Yang is based off of Abridged Jaden Yuki

39. Introduce any character you want

This is Omega!Nature. He’s a nature fairy from A Story Told and 100% done with everyone’s shit. He really hates humans but hangs out with two of them because he failed at doing a Fairy(tm) Prank on them. He’s an asshole and it’s charming because he looks like Tinkerbell’s emo phase mixed with the Onceler with the voice of Fidget from Dust: An Elysian Tail.

40. Any fond memories linked to your characters? Feel free to share!

I have very fond memories with Blake, Ruby, Cobalt, and Tigerlily from DOTS: DD, because they were my first original four characters I made back in 5th grade from a story I ended up continuing till this day! They had a lot of name changes, their first names have been Jaden, Jade, Chris, and Onishi, in that order. Because they’re my most developed four OCs, I have fond memories of seeing them grow into the characters they are now. Even if Blake somehow kept getting scrapped them coming back as an entirely new character. Huh.
