You're Fucking Pathetic Part 2| The Umbrella Academy FF
A/N: I am so sorry this took me so long to write I honestly couldn't come up with ANYTHING. But, after some hours of procrastination and some coffee up my ass I finished! =] ALSO, I ended it off in a way that's much easier for me to continue, plus I have an Idea for a part three so stay tuned for that!
warnings: MAJOR SPOILERS FOR TUA SEASONS 3, swearing, mentions drugs, death, (if you guys have any other tw's I need to add, pls let me know!)
part 1 | next part (coming soon)
After that argument you left everything tense.
As you should.
You walked around the house looking for Viktor, worried he’s hating himself right now. Honestly if you could whoop Allisons ass right now you would but checking in on Viktor was more important. You walked along the halls, tracing your hand along the wall, reminiscing about the old times. You and Diego reading books to help with his stutter. You and Klaus and Ben having random ass dance parties. You and Allison and Viktor gossiping/venting about boys that try and talk to you all the time. You and Five jumping through time together. You and Luther watching movies late at night even though you had training in the morning.
You pass Ben's old room and see Viktor laying down with Harlan’s recorder on. You also hear Ben.
“Have you been waiting for someone to come chase after you this whole time?” He asked.
“Wow! That’s so embarrassing.”
“It’s official. Our Ben was better.” Viktor says.
“Yes. Yes he was. Especially because he knew when to shut the fuck up. Why don’t you take note?” You say flipping Ben off.
“Ouch.” he says and walks out of the room.
“Hey…Are you doing okay?” You say sitting next to Viktor.
“Y/n….You know I didn’t mean to end the world right? O-Or do anything Allison is blaming me for?”
“Of course Viktor! Had we been honest about your abilities from the beginning and had father been patient with you then none of this would have happened.” You place your hand on his back, “Even when you wrote that book, everyone was mad for what? Because you told the truth? Told the world we weren't the perfect family they thought we were? I mean this with good intentions. I never cared about that book. You were outcasted all your life, ignored even by the people you called family. That book? Was your story. And I’m sorry they ignored that.”
Viktor laughs lightly.
“Thanks y/n/n. You know, even though you were never really adopted into our family, I'm glad you became my sister.” He smiles softly at you bringing you into a warm embrace.
“I hated myself for so long. I hated you all for so long, and when my powers exploded I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know I would cause the end of the world… Allison blames me for destroying Claire but if it was up to me I wouldn’t have taken her from her child and she knows that.” Viktor sighs heavily.
“Vik, I get it. I love you and you are an amazing human now. When I told you back in ‘63 that I forgave you, that's what I meant.” You say hugging him for one last time.
“Thank you. Before you and everyone else forgave me…I-I almost…”
“Hey, hey, hey. I love you okay?” You say looking into his eyes
“Now, wanna help save the world?”
“Do I have a choice?” Viktor says walking out of the room.
You guys head down to the basement and walk down to see the Kugleblitz. It was the first time you ever saw it because according to your “older” siblings you were too fragile and small to be around something so massive and destructive. You didn’t mean any harm but you were more afraid of Viktor on his good days than you were that ball of lighting. You and Viktor enter the basement to find everyone standing around the ball of lighting. Five standing a little too close for comfort.
“Five, you’re scaring me.” You say beckoning him to your side. He sees that you are worried and steps back. You take a hold of his hand, not on no Allison and Luther stuff but the last time you let him go he slipped away for 15 years so, apologies if you are a little attached.
“Okay, how do we start?” Viktor says.
“Have you ever moved a nest of bees?” Sloane asks the group.
“No, because that’s weird…” Lila replies.
“You can’t just pick it up.” Sloane says, “You have to keep the nest calm while you build the box around it, and then you trap it.”
Allison is standing near you, with Five on the other side of you. You pull him to switch hands so that he stands in between you and Allison. He looks between you two then whispers in your ear.
“You’re being childish. Is this really what you wanna do while we are face to face with impending doom?”
“I’ll forgive her when I'm dead.” You say turning forward again.
“ Don’t say that.” He retorts, clearly not laughing.
“Sorry, force of habit?”
You weren’t really paying attention to the rest of the directions honestly because something else caught your attention. Footsteps. Who could it have been? Reginald wasn’t home and from what you could tell Grace was nowhere near the basement. It didn’t sit right with you.
“You didn’t tell me you were building a prison for God.” Grace says.
You look over and she is coming down the steps dressed as a nun holding a flamethrower.
“What the actual fuck?” You whisper under your breath to Five.
“Mom?” Diego says, looking at her.
“You have no right to do that.” She continues.
“We’re a little busy here Grace.” Luther yells.
“The day of vengeance was in my heart”
“What are you talking about?” Diego questions as he gets closer to her.
“And my year of redemption hath come.” Grace says.
Before you could react you see flames charging at you. Diego and Luther Jump out of the way but before you could move the flames catch your left sleeve on fire. You fall to the ground patting the fire out. As you lift your head you see everyone in a panic backing away from Grace but also worried about what would happen to Sloane and the others working on the Kugleblitz. You see Five running past you and pull him down to you.
“Okay I think I have a plan!” You yell over everyone so that he can hear.
“Is your arm okay???? Let me see it!” He says reaching for you.
“I’m fine! We don’t have that much time! You go and blip behind her and blip her upstairs after I charge her up with enough electricity to neutralize her!”
He nods his head and blips behind her. You stand up and give everyone a reassuring nod. You close your eyes and take a deep breath, channel all the anger you feel towards Allison, all the sadness you feel from the death of Harlan. You feel the ground rumble and feel the electricity course through your veins and you guide it through your fingertips shooting it at Grace.
“Go!” You yell at Five and he blips her away.
After she was taken care of you guys finished the job and then went upstairs to celebrate.
It was great. Besides Allison brooding in the corner everyone was drinking, dancing, and having fun. You however, weren’t big on drinking but you did have a blunt rolled up so you lit it and started smoking. You could see Allisons face turn up at your actions. Allison was never a big fan of you smoking weed, especially after you got high before a mission and ended up “harming” a citizen. By harm, Allison meant she wasn’t the one to rescue them so when you brought them back with rope burn and a few cuts she used that as an excuse to get you benched from any missions until father said so.
“Y/n, if you’re gonna smoke take it the fuck outside. It stinks.” Allison says from across the room.
You look at her and because you just saved the world you decided not to fuss.
“Is smoking bothering anyone else? If so, I'll put it out.” You say taking a long puff before blowing it out of your nose.
Everyone shakes their heads no before going back to their activities.
You smirk at Allison and turn to Viktor, “You wanna try?”
Viktor turns pale, “Y/n! You know I don’t smoke!”
You chuckle lightly, teasing him is so fun.
Before you could blink you saw Fei going to clink her glass with Christopher. Oh no. You knew that if disturbed with a different vibration than its own the Kugleblitz would react and destroy everything getting worse. You go to stand and call her name but you’re too late. You watch as Christopher starts to shake and Fei and Ben start to back up. Next thing you know you feel a Kugleblitz wave flow through your body and knock you over. When you look up Chris and Fei are gone….
There is no time to be sad as you watch the Kugleblitz get bigger and bigger.
Shit.

The reaction to Allison has been interesting ,(and mildly infuriating) I've seen so many people saying "obviously" this was setting her up as the big bad villian of S4 which I don't see at all.
I think it comes from a few different things:-
1) people saying they want morally ambiguous/dysfunctional characters but in reality don't unless it's 'pretty' or angsty or something people can easily project on to. I assume there has to be a big difference in demographic for TUA Vs say, The Boys which is full of reprehensible people but the audience expect it. We've seen The umbrellas kill people as kids , I don't think their morality is the same of everyone elses.
2) there are two things I think from a writing perspective probably should have been done differently a) the Luther rumour scene -it brings back the romance subplot that people hated and couldn't even accept as an example of how their childhood fucked them all up, and well, it's hard to redeem SA. Probably should have been cut.
b) there's a certain point in S3 where all Allisons dialogue becomes almost entirely angry/snarky which has lead to a large influx of 'omg Allison is such a bitch!!!!!' I wish there was a late in the series convo with someone neutral like Klaus to give the character a moment to breathe.
3) Lack of sympathy for the character bc we've seen very little of Allison's life pre S1 and in childhood. I've seen loads of people say that she has had a basically cushy life due to her powers, and I think sooo many of the audience believe if they had her powers it would be all sunshine and rainbows. We got multiple flashbacks for Klaus this season (which I loved) but I really think Allison would benefit from some.
4) good old racism and misogyny. I reaaaaallly wanna know what the reaction would have been if Klaus killed Harlan for revenge for the moms or some shit.
Whew, this is all very true. People want traumatized/morally grey characters as long as they're sexy about it (see: Spike from Buffy, who took the SA way further and was still probably the most popular character). It's still bizarre for people to have watched the second season and say she's never had to work for anything.
I also think it's the target, though. Being mean to Viktor is kind of treated like the ultimate sin. People act like he's a little kid. So we get an angry black woman (already stigmatized as fuck) screaming at a small white person people essentially see as a child and go "I understand why she's angry, but she's crossing a line by being mean about it." She's talking to someone who destroyed her life twice. Does she owe it to him to be nice about what he has done to her, sometimes intentionally? Don't get me wrong, their fight was fucked up and Allison said some fucked-up shit, but the issue of the audience's reaction to Allison this season is multi-faceted--and it is an issue.
We needed more of her perspective. Fuck, we needed that scene with Klaus or someone where she says she doesn't get why everyone's so keen on dying and letting everyone else die with them. Put that between the vote and Reg killing Luther and Klaus could help her come to terms with death by talking about what awaits them on the other side. She could start looking forward to seeing Ray again when they hear a scream from down the hall...
...Apparently I have a fanfic to write.
But for real, I don't think Allison's arc will feel satisfying until next season. I think there will be big consequences for her, as many as there were benefits for her this season, and I hope they will come after she has calmed down and is ready to make peace with everyone. That's not even getting into what Harlan could have meant when he said her vibration sounded "wrong" (something to do with her self-rumor, maybe?).

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝟭𝟵𝟲𝟯 - pride month special
series masterist ! current: pride month special ! next: the brothers' quarrel
Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing; eight x klaus x ben (plantonic) warning; low-key abuse from Reginald, coping, lgbtq, alcohol minors, not proof read word count; 7.9k note; I'm pretty sure i was deprived of tua content and I couldn't stop writing. i loved the whole ben and klaus group, and I wanted their own little thing.
Tumblr media
BEFORE EIGHT AND FIVE HARGREEVES LEFT THE MANSION, there were many things to learn about them. The two of course had crushes on each other due to the nature of natural brilliance radiating in the air. At least that's what Klaus like's to say. Cool sister + boring brother = big brain love—anyway. Eight Hargreeves wasn't always known as the favorite, all-powerful sister. She was the favorite always, but not always the strongest.
Even though as a child she showed early signs of powers. She didn't fully get them until she was older. That caused lots of struggle for her when it came to training with her siblings. All of them being able to run circles around her, since he had no self of defense against them and their abilities. It took the young blonde girl many nights and days to really get the gears running. She would force herself to try and make anything happen. And eventually, something did happen. Causing her to grow excited, and not only her, but her father Reginald as well. He took it upon himself to train her even more. He wanted his little girl to be ready for anything. If the Umbrella Academy didn't work out, he wanted her to. Reginald wanted the world to depend on his little girl.
Becoming stronger was always a challenge, but the young girl was never the one to back down from one. Every night she would continue to practice until she was the one running circles around her siblings.
"That was a good one Ellie!" Ben shouted as he watched Klaus fall right on his back, as Eight had opened the door right on his face.
The young séance groaned in pain as he gripped his nose, "The hell, El," he said as he began getting up, as he heard his two giggling siblings.
The blonde shrugged, "Sorry, Klaus!" she chirped and pulled Ben along with her towards the kitchen.
Klaus rolled his eyes, and followed after the two, "What are you two doing in here anyway?" he asked as he watched the two running around grabbing things from different ends of the room.
Eight paused to fix her headband as she walked near him holding chocolate syrup and a large jar of maraschino cherries, "Making ice cream idiot," she told him continuing to walk past him, "Make yourself useful and get bowls."
He didn't have to be told twice. Untucking his hands from his shorts, he walked over to the cabinets and grabbed threw bowls, putting them back in the table, where Ben and Eight had placed more things.
He rose an eyebrow as he tucked his hands back in shorts, "All of this really?"
Ben rolled his eyes at him, "Choices Klaus, choices," he said as he began opening the pints of ice cream in front of them. Taking the scooper and placing large quantities of it in his bowl. This was until a large noise sounded from outside of the door.
The siblings all looked to each other in worry, hoping no one was breaking in.
Eight lifted her finger to lips to signal "sh." Her two brothers nodded and watched as her hands began glowing a small hue of yellow, she lifted them and moved in a circle around them. The small yellow particles lifted in a dome around them as the noise grew closer.
"El—"
"Klaus shut up or you'll get us caught, this only makes us invisible not silent," she hissed as he eyes never left the door.
Klaus and be swallowed as they too looked over to the door that began opening slowly. All to reveal Allison and Luther giggling. Their hands intertwined. At the sight, Klaus moved his hand to his mouth to avoid gasping aloud.
Ben and Eight were equally as shocked. Their eyes and mouth wide alike.
"I hope Eleanor and the others haven't eaten the ice cream yet," Allison said hopefully as they reached the fridge to see nothing.
Luther sighed at the sight, "That's what we get for being slow," he said shutting the fridge, but pulling the dark-skinned girl with him.
"Here maybe this is good," he offered with a smile.
Allison looked down to his hands, to see fudge brownies. She looked back at him and smiled, "It's perfect!" she told him leaning up to him to kiss his cheeks.
Luther looked back at the girl with wide eyes, "Uh yeah," he said as his cheeks began to grow in a reddish tint.
Eight rolled her eyes at the sight of the two love birds. She watched as they giggled and left the kitchen, letting her drop their cover.
"Did you know about that?" Ben asked his siblings as they began reaching for ice cream once more.
Klaus shrugged, "Definitely not, I mean no offense but Luther? The big brute? I knew about Diego's thing about—"
Before the Séance could finish his sentence, Ben elbowed him in the ribs, "Sh, you idiot."
"Ow!" he hissed grabbing his side, "What's wrong?" he exclaimed looking at him.
Ben motioned the blonde with his eyes, making Klaus's eyes widen in realization, "Right, never mind I said nothing." he said with an innocent smile.
The blonde rolled her eyes, "I know about Diego, I could read minds remember," she let them know as she scooped multiple scoops of mint chocolate chip in her bowl.
The Séance was then intrigued at her words, "What does our little ol' brother think about when it's about you dear sister?"
The girl paused as she reached for the caramel syrup, "That I won't tell you because those are his thoughts alone," she concluded and reached for the syrup, pouring it all over her mint chip ice cream.
Klaus who had a mountain of chocolate and strawberry already in his mouth groaned, "Boo you whore," he said with a mouth full.
Ben who was also curious gave her the biggest puppy eyes, "Ellie, please? Just an inside look?" he pleaded.
The blonde sighed as she now added rainbow sprinkles, "He started liking me after I had the patience to talk to him even though he had a stutter," she let them know, reaching for the cherries that Ben had reached for as well.
Klaus snorted, "Looser."
The Asian boy shook his head, as he added nuts into his strawberry ice cream bowl, "I find it cute," he told her with a smile that she returned.
The three then fell into silence and shoveled ice cream into their mouths happily. No words had to speak between the trio. They were content with just the presence of one another. Especially after the exhausting training, they do with their father.
As they were finishing, Klaus took the dishes to put them in the sink for Grace to clean up. While Ben and Eight put away the food they had brought.
They walked into the main living space, that led up their rooms. They silently chatted amongst one another, going up the steps. Their polished shoes clacking slightly against the wood as they did so. Eight's hand gliding on the banister giving a small smooth sound from her hand. As the sun's rays lightly peaked through the stained glass of the wall.
As they finally made it to the hallway to their rooms, they bid each other goodnight and retreated into their rooms.
Eight shut her door softly leaving it with a small click. Turning around she was met by the cracking of Five's powers. Now he stood before her sporting his academy pajamas.
"So where have you been all evening?" he asked her as she walked past him to grab her sleepwear from a cupboard similar to his.
The girl walked to her bathroom shutting the door slightly so she could still talk to him, "Spending time with my other siblings," she told him through the door.
Five scoffed, "I don't know why you still try and be with those two," he started as heard her shuffle in the bathroom, "They don't know anything. Klaus somehow got his hand on drugs, and Ben just follows him around all day." He rambled.
Eight then came out of the bathroom and threw her dirty clothes in a hamper near the bathroom, "I spend time with them because I care about them and Diego, Vanya, and you," she told him walking back to the bathroom to brush her teeth.
"Please, Vanya? That's pathetic, she has no abilities and nothing in common with—"
Eight had enough of Five's trash-talking his siblings more like her siblings. With her powers, she threw her shoes at him. One hit him in the head and the other in his stomach. Causing him to hunch over in pain.
"The hell Five? Who are you to talk about them as they are less than you?" she hissed at him going back to spitting out her toothpaste. Then walking back to him as he held his stomach from the hard blow.
He lifted his head to look at her slightly, "You do the same," he countered.
The girl scoffed, "I do that to Diego and Luther because those two are constantly arguing who's the best," she told him getting into her bedsheets.
The boy was finally able to get up, still feeling the dull pain in his head and stomach, "If you really do want to leave with me, you'll have to learn to detach yourself from them—"
"—Be a good boy and get out," she cut him off and snuggled into her pillows. Hearing no movement from Five she groaned and sat up.
Her hands began to glow and she opened a portal from under him, across her room hearing him thud into his room. Smiling to herself she turned off the lights and went to sleep. The next morning is awoken by her alarm.
Lifting her arm she shut off the clock and kicked off her sheets. Walking over to her cupboard and picking out a new outfit for the day. Moving to the bathroom, she shut the door and hung up her uniform on the door.
Yawning the blonde hopped into the shower and washed herself to feel clean once more. Moving along she dried off and quickly put on her undergarments, followed by her skirt, shirt, vest, and blazer. Picking up the toothbrush once more she moved it in all directions creating the foam around her mouth as she did. After a minute or so she spits out and walked out of the bathroom with her towel around her head. Moving to her cupboard, she took out her knee socks putting them on, following with her thick black leather boot shoes.
Taking the towel out of her hair, she brushed her hair to take out any knots. And if time couldn't be more on her side, Grace's bell rang through the interior of the house.
Walking over to the door, she opened it to make brief eye contact with Five. Which she decided to ignore and rather opened a quick portal to her seat. Five didn't hesitate to follow right after, but the blonde still ignored him. He had screwed up, not realizing that she cared that much about her siblings.
The other Hargreeves quickly joined and waited for the familiar clicks of their father's shoes.
"Sit," he would call and everyone pulled out their chairs and picked up their utensils.
All ate in silence, but Five tried grabbing Eight's attention. But to no avail, as the girl watched her food rather than the boy next to her.
Five moved his hand to try and reach hers, but she grabbed his wrist and turned to him.
Touch me and you'll get it. She thought into his head, then letting go of his wrist and picking up her spoon of oatmeal again.
Five sighed and followed her instructions and left her alone. When they all finished their breakfast, Reginald looked at his children and pursed his lips. "Children get your jackets and gloves we leave now." he let them know and got up.
As the tall man in his crisp suit walked away, Grace pulled a rack that held all their coats.
Eight was quick to walk over to grab her coat and gloves, "Thanks Grace," she said smiling and walked towards the door. Her other sibling following behind.
Klaus reached her stride and hummed, "So, what's the cold shoulder towards little Five for?" he asked her nudging her shoulder.
The blonde turned to look at her brother and shrugged, "He's an idiot that's what," she told him simply.
The Séance laughed at her words and lopped his arm around her bicep, even though she was shorter than him.
The duo reached outside where the car was waiting for all of them, a large SUV that was able to hold all of them. Eight, Klaus and Ben always decided to sit in the back. And reaching the door, Eight turned around to look at the house and noticed Reginald talking to Vanya. Most likely letting her know she can't come.
The blonde frowned at the sight but knew there was nothing she could do so she stepped into the vehicle with her siblings following.
She sat in between Ben and Klaus, the three conversing amongst themselves.
"Where do you think we're going?" Ben asked her as he looked out the window to see many buildings blur past.
"Don't know honestly," Eight replied in response.
Eight. Eight Please let me talk to you. I'm your boy—
The blonde rolled her eyes at loud thoughts bouncing in Five's head.
It was a further drive than she thought and ended up falling asleep on Klaus' shoulder. Until they arrived and poked her shoulder.
Waking up she rubbed her eyes and looked out the window. It seemed like a mansion that belonged to someone else. The girl hummed in surprise it was somewhere she hadn't been before.
The Hargreeves all left the vehicle and all filed behind Reginald who walked confidently towards the door. But before they reached the door, he paused to look at them.
"This is a place not make yourself a fool, because not only will it reflect on all your siblings but me as well. Stay put in one place and do not touch anything or talk to anyone," He told his children sternly.
All of them either murmured an 'okay' or nodded in response.
Eight knew she was a favorite and most of the rules didn't apply to her, so all she could do was have a small smirk on her face as she watched the older man turn around.
The Hargreeves children all followed the older man into the large house. All looking around in wonder to where they were, and what they were doing there. They were already known all around the world as children with the ability to save the world. As they took down a bad guy with ease.
Reginald was very forward to allowing them to be in magazines even as young as they were. So their faces were plastered everywhere. Everyone knew them by their names not numbers; the exception being Five and Eight Hargreeves.
Klaus yawned in boredom as he watched Reginald walk to talk with the older peers of the house. Leaving the children to be directed to a large table where they couldn't disrupt the other elders that conversed with one another. He trailed behind Luther who just loved to appear as the leader of the powerful children.
Before Klaus could sit down, his hand was grabbed. And dragged away from the group. He moved his eyes to see who the culprit was, and noticed the bouncy blonde hair. Eleanor. He thought to himself.
"Ellie, where are you taking me?" he asked as the girl moved quickly pulling him with her.
Eight just giggled, "Away from the boring things," she simply said and began leading him up the stairs.
As they made it up the long steps she paused to look at him up and down, "This is going to be fun," she smirked.
Klaus was growing to become a little worried at her words, "And what exactly are we doing, dear sister?"
"A little trouble is all," she replied and lifted her hands and they began to be surrounded by the golden-yellow dust. Moving her hands the yellow glowing dust surrounded to cover them completely but only for a second. As soon as that one second was finished, the glowing dust fell around them.
Klaus looked down to no longer see his uniform, but instead a crisp black suit, with a golden tie, "Eleanor Hargreeves," he scolded looking up to see his sister wearing a burnt orange swing dress with white heels, "What are we wearing?"
Lifting her short gloved hands, "We are guest, not Hargreeves children," she told him and walked down the steps knowing that Klaus was following right behind her.
"You are absolutely mental, but you know what let's party," he finally told her and hooked his arm around her as they ran through the crowd of people dressed in fancy clothing.
The two siblings ran to the dance floor where they moved around to the music playing. And by all means, they weren't dancing well either. The two flailed around like fish out of water, jumping up and down to the music that most definitely didn't need it. Then dancing terrible salsa with each other when it came to it.
Five was sitting at the table drinking water, his eyes following the atmosphere around him. Looking at the lovely couples dancing near them. It was sudden that he spotted a blonde familiar face. He had to take a double look, and when he noticed that it was indeed the person he thought it was. With the water he had in his mouth he turned and spit it out in surprise all over Diego.
The Kraken spluttered as the water droplets fell down his face, "What the hell Five—"
The boy reached out and turned his face to the dance floor, pointing towards the girl they both were crushing on.
Diego then furrowed his eyebrows, "What is she doing with Klaus? When did they get into those clothes?"
Five too wanted to know the answers to those questions, "I don't know but we have to find out," he told his brother.
The dancing duo laughed as the other grown-ups gave them odd looks. As they grew tired the two headed to the food area, where they grabbed themselves a tall glass of ice water. Then took off to do some exploring.
Walking down a long hall and looking at the paintings on the wall, "Aha! That one looks like you!" Eight said laughing as she pointed to a fat renaissance baby.
Klaus scowled at the girl and shoved her, "Catch me if you can!" he told her suddenly and began running down the hall laughing.
The blonde took off as his heels clicked loudly on the wooden floors. Klaus turned to laugh at her, "Aaha! Slow Po—" but before he could finish his sentence he had bumped into someone hard and landed on the ground with a thud.
"Klaus!" Eight shrieked and hurried to him. Just as the person he had bumped into was also sprawled on the floor.
The blonde noticed and groaned inwards, "Hey are you okay?" she asked the boy she noticed.
He wore black slacks with a white shirt tucked in, he had medium-length brown mousy hair that covered his eyes slightly.
The strange boy sat up and lifted a hand to touch his forehead but nodded, "Yeah I'm alright, are you?" he asked Klaus.
The Séance groaned as he sat up, "Yeah," he said and looked over at the person he knocked down. He froze at the sight of the kid. Something was happening here and he didn't know what.
Eight noticed her frozen brother and took it upon herself to help the stranger, "I'm Eleanor," she introduced as he offered him a hand, which he happily took.
"I'm Aries," he introduced with a smile, he then looked over at Klaus who was helped up by his sister.
The boy in Eight's hand blushed, "I'm Klaus," he said softly.
Aries smiled at the name, "Pleasure to meet you both, sorry we had to meet in such manner," the new stranger said with a laugh, "What were you guys even doing?"
Eight smiled and elbowed Klaus to speak, "Well we're just you know running away from our daddy dearest," he said sheepishly.
Aries laughed making his hair bounce a little, "That's cool, come I'll show you back yard," he said beginning to walk the way the duo were originally walking towards.
And so the duo followed after the boy towards the very green-looking backyard.
Not far behind was Diego and Five following in the place they had last seen the duo, "Where are they going?" Five asked more to himself.
Not wasting another second, he teleported himself closer, completely forgetting about Diego behind him.
"God do I wish I could stab him," he groaned as he twirled a knife in hand, walking his way to the backyard.
The three new friends ran around the place chasing each other and throwing fruit at the peacocks that the owner had in the vast yard. Getting them angry as they chased them in return. The three shrieked in fear and excitement as the large majestic birds chased after them.
Eight being behind, the two boys didn't realize when she was tackled and disappeared out of thin air.
"What are you doing out here, wearing that?" The familiar voice of her crush came.
The girl who was on the grass rolled her eyes at the boy hovering over her, "I was getting chased by peacocks if you wanted to know," she let him know, this time looking into his equally as bright blue eyes.
Five rolled his eyes and got off her to sit beside her, "But what were you doing with Klaus?" He paused to look at her laying down still staring at the orange sky, "Do you like him?" He finished nervously.
This caught the blonde's attention. She snorted in response, "Like him? Please, you don't know me at all do you?” she said getting up and dragging him by the arm.
He was clueless now but followed the young teen anyway. Not knowing where exactly she was taking him.
"Hey wait up!" called a voice from behind them causing Eight to drop Five's hand.
The duo turned to see a jogging Diego towards them. Eight deadpanned and turned to the boy next to her, "You're kidding, you came with Diego?" she hissed watching the boy catch up.
"Sorry," he mumbled knowing it was his fault the boy had followed.
Diego finally caught up to them too, but Eight didn't wait for him to speak and began walking to her destination once more. The dumb idiots wanted to so badly, she would show them rather than tell them.
"Where—"
"Shh," the girl hissed and pointed in front of her, a large bush.
The three went towards it and looked through the small holes that were offered.
On the other side, sat criss-cross where Klaus and Aries who she had met earlier. The two were talking idly, small smiles on their faces. While a blush grew on Klaus' face. Aries laughed at his reaction and reached his hand to hold his. The Séance's response was everything, his mouth opened in shock as he glanced at their touching hands.
Like a fish, Klaus opened and closed his mouth trying to say something, but nothing came out. But the other boy wasn't fazed by these actions, his mouth moved as he leaned closer to Klaus.
The trio watched as Klaus nodded slightly signaling he agreed to something. Aries smiled at the notion and leaned much closer to the boy. To the point where their lips touched softly.
Eight smiled wide, and silently cheered her brother, then wrapping her arms around Five and Diego in excitement. The two boys beside her although were shocked. Mouths and eyes open wide in shock, not knowing how to take in this new information.
Klaus and Aries continued making out softly, to not take things too far. To something, none of them were ready for. It was all cute for a while until familiar sounds caused Eight to freeze.
Behind the lover boys, Peacocks were squalling ready to attack. The blonde quickly jumped out of her hiding spot and ran towards her friends.
"Get behind me," she said to them calmly.
Klaus did just that and pulled Aries by the hand. The boy was confused as to why he was letting his small, twig-looking sister protect them against the angry birds.
"Klaus we can't let her take—" he began but cut off by Klaus grabbing his chin to face him, "—Just trust her okay?" Klaus told him calmly.
Diego and Five had come out of the bushes also ready for anything.
Eight slowed her breath and let her hand begin to glow its familiar golden-yellow. This made Aries's eyes widen in fear.
The blonde let the dust floating around the birds who were angrily squawking as she moved them with ease. Let them go to a place far from them. She turned around with a smile but wasn't met with one.
Aries had a look of fear in his eyes. He let go of Klaus's hand as he began to back up, "Your part of that family," he began his eyes darting to the blonde and then the others, "You all are."
Klaus reached to the boy who had taught him new about himself, "Aries we're good people, we save people who need us."
The boy shook his head, "That's what you say, but you are more dangerous to the world than help, and one day you'll see you do nothing for us," he told them at the end and then ran from the four Hargreeves.
"Welp there goes your first boyfriend," Diego commented snorting a little, not really caring what the boy had to say about their family.
The blonde scowled at him and walked over to Klaus, "Hey there, don't worry you got me—" she began but the boys didn't get to hear what she had to say as a portal ate the two up, leaving them behind.
Five stuffed his hands in his pockets and sighed, "See you inside Diego—"
Diego looked at him, "Why don't you like me?"
The boy didn't move, "I know you like Eight, Number Two, but I'm not worried," he stepped close to the boy who once stuttered, "We both know who she likes." Five finished with a smirk and teleported with a crack.
Diego huffed and looked down on his feet and kicked a rock, "I'm not worried," he mimicked to himself, "We'll see," he said to himself and quickly made his way back inside.
As he sneaked his way past, he noticed his adoptive father, talking to some people. Being the nosy child he was he got closer to listen to his words.
"Your children, do you believe they are helping the world, Reginald?" A lady asked him as she drank from her champagne.
The man who had a monocle over his eyes pursed his lips, his mustache moving a bit as he did so, "I do, some more than others—"
The woman interrupted him, "The blonde one I assume, I've got your memos boasting of the girl," she said not very kindly.
It seemed that this part he was it, had people who were against the children who had abilities. All-seeing the negative in it and Reginald Harvgreeves trying to change their minds on it.
"Eight Hargreeves, what a name for a child," she snorted rolling her eyes, "If its' the last thing I do Reginald, those kids will do nothing for this world."
The scientist didn't say anything for a while, "I would like to see you try," he finally responded, reaching to fix his monocle over his eye. Then turning away from the woman, his cane and shoes clicking in sync.
Quickly Diego ran from the scene to avoid being caught as missing, reaching the table, he realized Klaus and Eight were sitting next to each other wearing their uniform once more. The two paid no mind to the other siblings around them. Sitting back beside Five, Diego sighed loudly.
Just in time, it seemed, as Reginald returned to the table where his adoptive children sat, "Let us go children, we have elsewhere to be," the man finished and walked towards the door. This time Eight and Klaus were in the front not wanting to be near two boys.
Before they could make it out the door two large men stepped in front, "I'm afraid we're not letting you or your family leave," the same woman Diego had seen earlier spoke.
Reginald turned from the large men to face the woman, "It seemed we were never really invited here were we?" he asked already knowing the answer.
Beside the woman a familiar kid stepped out, the one who had shared a kiss with Klaus earlier. Aries.
"What makes your children better than mine? Abilities that make them freaks to this world?" She asked as her hand came to his shoulder.
Klaus made eye contact with the boy. He looked sad and starred at him, "I'm sorry," he mouthed.
Eight felt her brother grip her hand in worry, and she squeezed it back.
"These children are not your enemy, they are the future to help those who need it," Reginald argued.
The woman smacked her lips and shook her head, "No dear Reginald, not anymore, they end tonight," she said with a small laugh.
She lifted her free hand signaling something. In front of the Hargreeves family large men, with very large guns appeared.
"Oh shit," Klaus and Eight chorused.
This was possibly—no it was the sickest thing a group of people could think of. This random lady was ready to massacre a whole family out in cold blood because she thought children with abilities were not the right way for things. This could end in two ways. The Hargreeves left for dead, or save their own asses with the amount of training they've had.
The blonde quickly let go of Klaus's hand and pushed her way through her siblings. They would not be going like this, "Not tonight lady, maybe later!" the blonde yelled out her hands by her sides.
The woman laughed manically, "What are you going to do?" she cooed laughing at the small girl's attempt, "Kill them," she finally said.
And so the men lifted their giant guns, just as Eight lifted her hands into the air, allowing a large dome around them. The slight glimmer of her golden hue made the bullets bounce right off. Holding the dome, she moved back to reach Reginald.
"Father you have to get out of here, she's targeting you," the blonde let him know, "We'll be fine," she assured him and opened a portal behind him.
The man nodded, "This is what I've trained you for," he told his children and disappeared in Eight's portal.
The blonde turned to Diego, "Move the remaining bullets towards them!" she told him.
The boy listened and stepped up next to her, lifting his hands as he froze the bullets coming towards them, flicking his wrist forward, he sent them hurtling back towards its targets. Many of the patrons of the party started screaming and running back deeper into the house.
"Luther! Take out the big guys!" Eight called out to the tall blonde.
Knowing it was no time to argue, he did what asked and sprinted towards the buff guy tackling them towards the ground. Or flat out punching them unconscious.
Letting the force field fall, she turned over to her remaining siblings, "Allison I need you to get the civilian safely outside, Ben help her, Klaus stay out of trouble, Five you're coming with me," she told her siblings as they all nodded and headed their pointed directions.
Five followed the blonde who was walking determinedly, her eyes set forward.
"Are you talking to me now?" Five asked the girl he walked with.
Eight turned to look at him a moment, not forgetting to roll her eyes, "Five right now is not the time to ask me dumb questions," she told him.
He sighed knowing she was very much right, "Who are we looking for exactly?"
"The woman who wanted us dead," she said flatly, "When we near her, we will surround her,"
Five nodded in agreement, and so the two continued walking together down a very empty hall. It was quiet. Too quiet. Suddenly men came stepped into the hall, causing Eight to scoff.
"Of course she continues with her attempts to kill us," she said more to herself.
Cracking her neck she began running towards the men with the guns. The men lifted their guns but were too late as she stepped through a portal. They all paused for a moment looking around them to see nothing but a teenage boy with his hands in his pockets.
"Ah!" yelled out one of the guys when she landed on his shoulders. Using her strength she tipped him over towards the ground. She grabbed his gun, her finger on the trigger, pressing down on it, she took some of them down, before she disappeared into a portal again.
This time they looked back to where the boy was, but he was nowhere to be seen. With a crack, he appeared next to one of the men and lifted the gun to hit him on the forehead. Knocking him out cold.
Another guy lifted his gun to shoot him, but just as he shot Five disappeared allowing him and the man behind Five to shoot themselves.
The duo continued this way until no one was left. Only them and the bodies littered on the floor.
Eight continued to the last door at the end of the hall and using her abilities she blasted the door open, ripping it off its hinges.
The woman behind the door shrieked and held her son close to her, with a handgun pointing at the blonde girl. Her hand shook as she did so.
"Do you honestly think that's going to stop me?" Eight deadpanned at the woman.
Nearly in the tears, the woman spoke up, "You killed my men! You murderer!" she shrieked.
Eight scoffed and crossed her arms, "And what are you a saint? You were prepared to kill seven children and their father," she retorted.
"For the good of the—"
"—Blah blah," Eight interjected stepping closer to the woman.
"Stop, go away I will shoot," she warned.
But Eight didn't budge and continued to walk forward up to the point where the gun was in her face, "Go ahead, you wanted to kill me," the young teen taunted.
The woman and her son looked at her weirdly. How was she not afraid of being held at gunpoint? "I-I will!" she said her hand still shaking.
The teen girl sighed, she reached her hand and took the gun from her hands, quickly disassembling it and throwing it on either side, "We get your afraid of us, we're also scared. Do you think we were born and knew how to handle our abilities? No, we struggled and still are struggling to control them so we can do what's best for the world."
The woman gripped her son tightly to her chest, but the boy had a different expression. He understood now, no longer afraid of them.
"We're leaving now," Eight finally said giving a last look to Aries, "Thank you."
With that Five and Eight left the room, in search of their other siblings. When they quickly found them, Eight was on it to get them back home.
"Number Eight," Reginald's voice called the young girl.
All her siblings gave her a look of sympathy. Nothing good ever happens when he singles out his children.
"Coming father," called out Eight and stepped through a portal to the front of his door. The doors were open as he was at his desk already scribbling in some notebook that he always was. She lightly knocked on the door and waited.
"Come in, Eight," he simply said, not looking up from his work, "and close the door."
The young teen didn't know what to expect, she hoped it wasn't more training after the events of today.
Carefully she closed the door with a soft click and turned to her father who had yet to stop writing. Walking forward she sat in the chair silently, listening to his pen scribble across the paper.
For a while, the two sat in silence, Reginald still writing, and Eight watching and listening to him do it. It wasn't to dropped his pen and looked up, "Do you know why I called you here, Number Eight?"
Eight wasn't the one to back down from a stare-down, so she looked him in the eyes, hers never averting elsewhere, "No," she simply answered.
"You stepped up to be a leader today, even though it wasn't your place to do so," he started.
Eight scoffed, "Luther wasn't going to do it—" the young girl tried to but wasn't allowed to finish.
"—Just as talking while I'm talking," the older man continued his hands clasped on top of his work, "While what you did is noble, but it wasn't what I instructed you to do as a team. Luther comes up with the plans—"
This time the young girl rolled her eyes, "And we follow through with them, yeah, yeah," she mocked his words.
Reginald gave the small girl a look, "Number Eight, I do not appreciate your tone with me," he said sternly.
The blonde looked down at her hands on her lap, "But he's incompetent father," she whined looking back up at him and getting up completely from the chair.
The older man sighed, "Number Eight I get your feelings, I take them into consideration," he started.
"Father if you haven't realized, most of the time my siblings hate me when you do," she paused with her hands in the air, "They think you have some favoritism towards me."
Reginald then said nothing. He knew it was true but he would never be the one to admit it. Yes, Eight was his favorite, but still, he was treated the same as the others. He made her train just as much, if not more. Took her on trips that he thought didn't need others. Eight was just someone special to him. There would be a day that everyone will also see.
"Absurd accusations from your siblings," the man started, "I do not want you leading the next mission or instance Number Eight, or you will face repercussions."
The blonde swallowed tightly and nodded. There was nothing left to say to the man. She knew he would never hurt her physically. But there were other ways of doing so.
"Dismissed," he said and Eight walked out of the room making sure to close the door behind her.
The blonde stared at the door for a while then silently out of anger she punched the air. Then proceeding to flip off the door with both hands. Trying to get out the anger her father caused. After calming down she brushed her hair down and ran her hands down her blazer.
Walking back to her room her footsteps echoing slightly against the wooden floor. The girl paused as she reached her door. Turning away from her door she stalked down to one of her brother's rooms.
Without knocking she walked into his room, causing him to shriek.
"Ellie, what is the meaning of this?" He dramatically exclaimed with his hand on his chest, "Just kidding, but what do you want."
"Father was a pain in the ass, so we're going to have fun," she smiled at him grabbing his hand and pulling him through a portal.
Stepping through they were in Ben's room who was currently reading a book in bed.
"Benny, put the book down, we're taking a trip," she said and pulled him off the bed.
The boy was confused by the sudden ruckus, "Where are you—"
Ben didn't have time to answer the question as Eight opened a portal from under them. The trio falling for a second through the colorful dimension moving past them. Up until the portal opened again and they fell onto the floor in a heap.
Klaus groaned in pain, "I thought you knew how to use your abilities?" he asked as the three got up.
Eight sighed, "I sometimes don't control it that well," she told him honestly, "That's why our dear father sometimes is a bit much."
"Ok, well with that aside, where are we El?" Ben asked looking around in the room they appeared. It seemed to be jacket storage, with lots of feathery, puffy jackets.
Klaus then too realized and looked over at the smiling blonde, "Yeah, where are we?"
"It's pride month, so I couldn't resist finding a very queer party," she replied happily.
The three opened the closet door slowly and peeked out to see a glowing in the dark party. The walls were littered with streamers. The ceilings having glowing trinkets and so many more decorations. In the distance the music could be heard, just along with party people yelling, cheering, and talking.
"Your crazy for thinking this is going to work," Ben told the girl next to him.
Eight laughed, "It already worked I mean look we're here!" she said and walked out of the closet.
There's a reason Eight Hargreeves was the most experienced in the family. She was always willing to try something new, no matter the consequences. Before Five and Eight's disappearance a couple of months later. The blonde was determined to have the most fun possible, she didn't care about her father's approval or not. She snuck out with Five to do who knows what around their home. Occasionally with Diego, who she couldn't leave out. And mostly with Klaus and Ben her partners in crime. Although it was mostly Ben with the clearest conscience. While Eight and Klaus were a menace to society.
Thirteen-year-olds knew how to party, and drag queens, and queers were happy to have them around. Dancing, drinking and testing out harder drugs in a safe environment. The three siblings high of their minds danced crazily on the dance floor. Alongside the men with the large wigs who joined them. The glitter, music, drinks, and food all became mushed into one as the night raged on. Lipstick smudged on their lips glistened against the disco lights littering all through the room.
The night finally came to an end for the three when Ben threw up. Calling it a night, Eight tried her hardest to teleport them back home. But with many attempts and failures, she finally made it to her room. The trio not having enough energy to even move all fell asleep on Eight's bed. Snoring the night away.
It was only a couple of hours later, that Grace rang the bell for the children to come and eat. One by one, each of them took their place in their chair. All Except Four, Six, and Eight; their chairs remained empty.
The Hargreeves all looked at each other in hopes of getting any answers, but no one knew anything. Silently shaking their heads in response. They became worried for them.
Just then the clicks of Reginald's came through. The man stood straight as his eyes trailed over the table. He reached his chair and looked at his remaining children.
"Number One, where are Number Eight, Number Four, and Number Six?" The old man questioned.
Luther froze for a moment, he knew he was considered the "Leader" but he didn't like being singled out by Reginald.
"I don't know," He replied quickly.
Reginald looked at him briefly, "Do any of you know where they are?" The Hargreeves siblings shook their heads.
Then he looked over at Five, "Find them, they shouldn't be far."
Five didn't linger and was out in a second. He arrived in Klaus' room first, but there was no sign of him there. He quickly stopped by Ben's to find nothing there as well.
"God you better be here," he mumbled out loud and jumped to Eight's room.
Where his eyes landed on the three siblings that had been missing from breakfast. He walked over to the blonde and shook her shoulder.
The girl sat up and swung her fist forward, but due to her weak nature of the events of last night, Five was able to catch it, "Where have you been, you missed—"
"Oh fuck we missed breakfast," she sighed and slapped her hand over her face, "Father is mad isn't he?"
Five was taken aback by her language. He had never heard her use that language before.
"He's just asking where you were," he then replied.
The blonde laughed, "Well I'll tell you what happened, we partied really hard last night," she started and laughed again, "I kissed a girl, and honestly I don't mind it. Uh, Klaus and I were high off who knows what drugs.." she rambled on making Five's eyes widen in shock.
In the end, he wasn't able to get the three out of the room. And he knew there would be consequences. Which there were.
The three indeed pay for their deeds. They were separated from the rest and trained in a much more disciplined manner. Tears, blood, and screaming ensued as they did.
Locking both Klaus and Eight in a mausoleum. Klaus had to endure the pain of so many people trying to talk to them, and his sister listening to those voices and their thoughts through her brother's head. The two screamed in pain as they held their heads.
After a while, they lay down on the floor facing each other, tears silently streaming from their eyes.
"I'm sorry Klaus," Eight whispered as she continued to cry.
The séance reached to grip her hand, "Don't worry Ellie, I had fun. I had my first kiss with a really cute boy too," he whispered back with a hoarse cough.
This made Eight giggle a little, "I made out with a girl too," she said pausing, "and I didn't hate it."
"Welcome to the alphabet mafia, Ellie, glad to have you," Klaus said squeezing her hand once more.
The two sobbed silently closing their eyes, letting the tears fall even faster. The tears were of joy, pain, and acceptance.
Eight wouldn't let Reginald win, she knew she was better than being some puppet for him. She had realized that it was her that he was always trying to save, make better. Because he thought in the end if her siblings failed, she wouldn't. But that was not what she had thought. She didn't know much of herself yet, but she knew the future to her was never kind, and it never would be. Eight Hargreeves lived a life in hell. Even if she had everything she wanted, it was her abilities that doomed her to her very end.

So, I already edited and added to this one before and it took two hours and then tumblr glitched and saved none that and instead posted my original messy draft and I didn't realise for several hours and was very annoyed which is why this is coming now rather than sooner.
I've decided to save my full David and Syd analysis until after watching season three, so this is just my stray observations post while watching the last three episodes of season 2.
- If David hadn't been off fucking Future Syd maybe he could have prevented the delusion spreading through Division 3 and maybe Ptonomy could have survived. Also, I know they were limited timewise, and I know they haven't really known what to do with Ptonomy since season 1, but couldn't we get at least one shot of his friends mourning him?! If not David and Syd, at least Melanie? Wasn't it implied they worked together a significant amount of time at Summerland? I know his consciousness is being kept alive in a computer or whatever, but they didn't know that at the time!
- I want to know how Clark and Syd's 'girl talk' moment came to be. Do they meet for tea regularly? Talk about their love lives and exes? I'm not sure how I feel about Clark's story about the boy in the army he loved who kept jumping out of planes to get away from him. I feel like it might have been better to get something more real in that moment than bizarre (especially when we know he had a husband and son that he lost due to his obsession with David). I read a review that treated the army boy story as serious and emotional but like... he parachuted away from him, and then one day his parachute didn't open?! It's just occurred to me thst I might be taking this too literally like the autistic stereotype I am but honestly in a show like Legion that's the sort of thing that would be intended to be taken literally and not as a metaphor so I don't even know anymore...
- Literal or not I did not miss the parallel of Syd jumping out of a plane and parachuting down to get to David. Honestly, parachuting into the desert and immediately kicking your boyfriend in the shins is such a power move.
- In general it feels like the show doesn't know what to do with Clark, and I worry that he'll meet a similar fate to Ptonomy as a result. Hopefully not!
- Admiral Fukuyama was created to keep the secrets safe from the telepaths...now he works with them? I liked seeing some of how he came to be, but it honestly it left me more confused. Also, if all he has is the metalwork around his head, I don't really get why he wears a basket...its probably just a meaningless visual I'm reading too much into... I love the visuals of Legion a lot, but I do feel like sometimes 'this would look cool/weird/strange' is the only reasoning behind things and it doesn't always land with me.
- So this absolutely should have gone in my TUA comparison post, but I remembered writing it, got confused, and thought I'd already posted it rather than stuck it in a stray observations draft...whoops. David choosing to not tell anyone his plan as Farouk would read their mind and instead manipulating them all as an alternative - it's the first time David, as David has acted based on his own thoughts and feelings and I'm questioning if he's doing the right thing. I couldn't help but think of Five Hargreeves line to Viktor in The Umbrella Academy, 'You know what they call a superhero who acts alone and doesn't listen to anybody? A villain.' (Having now reached the end of the season I wasn't wrong)
- Farouk previously talked about David's white father taking over and telling his people what to do (sidenote: who are Farouk's people? I thought he might mean mutants, but the white part of the line then doesn't make sense. It's unclear if Farouk is Moroccan like the comics or Iranian, since he speaks Farsi, but in this universe, did Professor X colonise Morocco/Iran?!?) He also talks about white people being cast as the heroes when speaking with Future Syd, and he's got a point, but the show needs to commit if it truly wants to address this. Yes exoticism has been used as short hand for villainous in the past, yes the writers of Legion didn't create or name Amahl Farouk, they're just (loosely) adapting the comics, and yes David does reveal himself to be a villain rather than a hero. But like...Farouk is still also a villain? So yeah, your blonde blue-eyed white man might be a monster, but that doesn't erase all the things Farouk has done (including helping turn David into a monster). Also, him being free at the end is down to his manipulations and control of others, right? Because the whole of Division 3 isn't so stupid as to let him walk free, right?!?
- 'You're the song they play outside a hostage crisis to keep criminals from thinking clearly.' This is just a great line I wanted to highlight. Syd could have just called Lenny a distraction but went with this beauty instead.
-The show that talked about delusion and moral panic then tries to blame technology for helping create narcissists and not seeing others as real people. It feels like that stupid 2014 video that claimed using our phones meant we'd miss out on meeting the love of our life because we won't ask her for directions. It's such nonsense. I've seen people who watched it when it aired say that technology is just a framing device for discussing narcissism and not meant to be seen as the blame, but if that's the case, sorry, they did a shit job because it absolutely feels like its proselytising about the evils of tech. It feels so incredibly out touch and tactless, and I wish they cut it, especially as the John Hamm narrative segments had reached a natural conclusion just the episode before. Having enjoyed the segments until now, it's disappointing that this is what they were building to.
-I think they were aiming for 'the desolate' or 'desolation' but 'Le désolé' just means 'the sorry' I checked with a French friend to make sure, and they confirmed it. You can use désolé to mean desolate, but only if there's a noun in front of it so this doesn't work.
- I'm not sure if the two David in David's mind are meant to be alters or like a devil and angel on his shoulder (really hope it's the latter because DID has been demonised enough and I don't trust the show to not be another Split honestly) but as someone who watches with subtitles I got the fun insight that their names are apparently Divad and Dvd.
- I've seen some people say Legion is set in the '60s/70s but we're never given a year, right? Considering it's a parallel universe I thought it was just another present day low/no tech AU like The Umbrella Academy or Manic. Especially as a lot if the tech we see feels more steampunk than 1960s . I get why a reviewer called the depiction of an MRI scan in season 1 anachronistic now, since MRI was only invented in 1977 (sidenote: as a student radiographer I will still never get over that scene. I was so ready to just accept it as a made up experimental scan and then they said the words MRI and I had to pause it, I was laughing so hard because it's sooo bad)
- I watched two whole seasons of this show and thought Melanie was played by Kim Cattral, but she isn't, she's played by Jean Smart! TWO SEASONS. I hadn't heard of Jean Smart before now, but honestly her and Kim Cattral are twins.

Klaus locked in car by siblings
***
I had a tua dream today, most of which I have forgotten, but it was so nice 😭💔 here's part of what I remember;
The Hargreeves went somewhere in a car for some business, like there was some problem and the family went to try to work it out (not canon, it was evening and maybe it wasn't Dallas but something more like Venice or Spain or something). Meanwhile, Klaus had distinguished himself again, and the siblings were annoyed with him and left him alone in the car locked up. And so, Klaus ended up locked in the car because of the siblings, he didn't like it and for reasons I've forgotten, he wasn't himself, maybe on drugs or something.
Most of the time, while the family went about their business and tried to solve the problem, Klaus slept. But then he woke up and wanted to come out, but he couldn't make it.
Then there was something I forgot. But the point is, when Ben (or Diego¿ or both¿) went back to the car, the car wasn't there because--
--because while Klaus was in the car, he had time to freak out and get angry and seemingly somehow unlock the car //but that didn't end well, because a jaguar or a black panther¿¿ or an angry grandma ( I can't remember...) jumped into the car and the car rolled down the hill.
The brakes didn't work, probably because the car was off and Klaus wasn't steering, and the slope was kinda really far, and the car without steering made a lot of noise. The black panther that ended up in the car (I don't remember why there was a panther in the car, and maybe it was a grandma after all, but whatever it was, it was trying to maim or bite Klaus lol) too.
So, following the destruction, after a while Ben and Diego found Klaus coming out of some building. And the coolest thing was that Klaus wasn't like a happy and sweet croissant as usual, but he was sharp, irritated, tired, and had a negative aura around him (such a damn cool negative aura) - which was really cool, because in the show Klaus is like never sad and angry, it's like he's afraid to show those feelings and suppresses them, keeps all the negativity inside of him... and at that moment all that negativity seemed to come out. Klaus seemed more mature and interesting as a character. He didn't try to explain to Ben or Diego what happened, he didn't even look at them when they found him. Klaus just waved his hand with a cigarette like "not interested" or "not now" and walked down the stairs past the brothers.
Anyway, just some random nonsense. but I liked the negative Klaus so much, different from the one in canon, that I fell back asleep three times just to keep watching this dream. If anyone happens to be inspired by this brel to write a fic, I'd be very happy to read it♡.
Supplements:
When the Hargreeves went away on business, there were some intense events going on that I'd forgotten. Like someone attacked them¿. The siblings also discussed family issues and there were feelings¿.
Klaus spent a fair amount of time in the car, maybe it was even a couple or more days.
When Ben and Diego found Klaus after the car went missing, they felt guilt or shame in front of Klaus for not being nice to him.
Klaus had his own spectrum of feelings and emotions. First the feelings before he was left in the car. Then when he realized he couldn't get out. Then when the crazy events inside the car started happening. And at the end, when he didn't care and realized something, like that there was his life now, or that he would always be the one who was "thrown out" or "who was just locked away like an unwanted thing".

Several pairs of eyes dart around the room, unable to do anything but sit in silence as Klaus shudders in a heap on the floor. You had just been about to slip out of your seat to check on him when Reginald clears his throat.
"Well," he says, slamming his notebook shut and rising from his seat. "I've seen about enough."
That's all he gives any of you before he's already heading for the door.
"No, I-" Luther stutters. But Reginald was still walking away.
Just the sound of his heels clicking against the floor as he walked away from all of you was enough to anger everyone. But it also didn't last long. His footsteps slowed gradually, each swing of his leg growing slower as of he were wading through water confusing everyone. Including himself. With a curious look, one surely tighting his grip on his monocle, he looks down at his own two legs. His movements had stopped altogether, apart from the wobbling of his knees that fought to keep him upright.
"No,"
All eyes turn to you, risen from your seat with your fiery eyes locked on the man. Reginald, despite his rapidly growing mass, manages to turn over his shoulder to meet your eye. He looked... unsure.
Everyone around you watched astonished as you departed from Diego's side to stalk towards Reginald. The closer you got, the closer the man got to the ground along with his things. His notebook had already been sucked towards the floor, making an obnoxious smack nobody cared about.
"You will listen," you said carefully, in a growl that was building from the back of your throat.
His monocle was the next to dive for the for the ground, snapping to the floor like a magnet on a fridge.
"You've lied," you point to the broken mess of a family he had left in his wake. "You've hurt," he had crumbled to knees, looking up at you from where you had placed him. You tower over him, belitting him as he had all of them their entire lives. How he had for all your life, supposedly. You point shakily to your chest in rage. "You've stolen,"
A bitter scoff breaks through as you shake your head, disgusted.
"And you call it bravery," it was getting harder and harder for Reginald to breathe, and his spine began to whine in pain. "You call yourself a hero,"
You draw in a deep breath, a smile splitting over your face.
"You are not," you say. Proudly, you gesture behind you at the academy. "They are. Because they had to be," you take another step forward to the trembling man. "to save themselves," another step. "from you," you jabbed your finger in his shoulder and he lost his balance momentarily.
He fought hard enough not to fall, but for Reginald Hargreeves, it was still considered a victory.
Everything was silent for several moments. Everyone watched as he slowly looked down at his wobbling form on the ground. Finally, as if none of it had happened-or wasn't still happening-he looked up at you. The discontent he managed to plaster on his face dispite the crippling pain weighing him donw made you sick. Even when he was being put in his place he made it his job to remind you who he believed to be superior.
"Well," he says almost sarcastically. "It seems the runt has got some fight after all,"
You took a subtle, seething breath.
"Savor this moment," he casts a glance to the stunned silent academy. "all you of you, as it is very likely none of you will ever hear this from me again," he cocks his head at you, like a condescending adult scolding a child. "I was wrong."
Your heart lifts in the your chest.
"I was wrong in dismissing your abilities," A smirk tugs at your lips. "As I was terribly mistaken in giving you a second chance."
The smirk fell off your face, leaving behind a disgusted frown. "A second chance?"
"Whatever life I gave to you-whatever faith I had in you was clearly ill-placed. Of course you would never amount to anything other than destruction," he glances past your shoulder at everyone, including a seething Diego. His hands were already reaching for one of his knives, waiting at the ready. "that's why you're all here, I suspect? Yet another cosmic blunder made in attempt at fixing your wrong doings,"
No words left your mouth, but hot and agry tears began brimming in your eyes without your permission.
"And there it is," he says with the click of his tongue. "No matter how far you try to run from it, the truth always reveals itself in the end. And the truth i see before me now, is nothing but a frightened child with too much power."
A single tear breaks the though the dam and down your cheek. Your head is trembling as fury consumes you, but you maintain your composure enough to lean down into his face and spit through gritted teeth, "So. Do. I,"
Your hold on Reginald evaporates, releasing him into a wobble. Hiking your chin up, you step around him, making sure to kick his journal out of reach as you storm for the exit.
Diego's eyes had nearly run dry; he had been so engrossed in the moment he had forgotten to blink. He couldn't believe it. Had you just done that? No one stood up to his father, nobody got the last word. Then again, you weren't some nobody.
Diego finally breaks out of his spell when he registers you stepping through the elevator doors. His heart pounding sporadically against his ribcage and holstering the knife with his fathers name on it, Diego kicks into gear and jogs after you.
You pull your eyes away from the glowing lobby button and waited less than patiently for the doors to close. Your head had been buzzing far too much to notice Diego had taken off after you. It was only when he slipped past the closing elevator doors and was snaking his arm around your waist you were snapped out of your angered thoughts.
You only had a second to send him a baffled look before he gently threw you against his chest, your lips smashing together in a passion. You were surprised to say the least you felt yourself melting into his touch, your own hand sliding up his chest and draping over his neck as his other hand snaked your waist.

Time and Chase
Pairing: Five Hargreeves x Fem! OC
Author's Note: Hello and welcome. This is a major throwback but we are kicking off my TUA series of fics all the way from season one so that this story actually makes sense. Or about as much sense as it can be. I will be posting daily. *Please note that I am well aware that Elliot Page portrays Viktor, but due to season one being before his transition, that is why his character is still Vanya. I am not deadnaming him and I sincerely hope I don't come across as such. I will transition when I write season three.*
Warnings: mentions of blood, cursing, and violence.

Man On The Moon
~ * ~
On the first day of October, 1989, forty-three women around the world simultaneously gave birth. None of the women showed any prior signs of pregnancy. Sir Reginald Hargreeves, eccentric billionaire and playboy adventurer, made it his personal mission to find and adopt as many of these children as possible.
He got seven of them.
~ * ~
Karina finished wrapping her side and headed out the door to go find Five. She was halfway through the main room when Pogo saw her.
"Mrs. Hargreeves, this is a surprise. How are you doing, my dear?" he asked her.
Karina was a bit taken back, not used to being addressed so formally. "Me? Um…I'm all right."
"I see. Are you sure you should be walking around? You were severely injured after all."
Karina waved it off. "Later. Right now, I have a husband to track down and berate."
"Master Luther and Master Diego are currently looking for him actually."
"Did they say where they were going?"
"I believe something about trying to find his van."
Karina nodded. "I know where they are. Thank you."
"Of course. Please be careful."
Karina smiled and quickly left the mansion, heading off to the alleyway across from the prosthetic building. In the distance, she saw and heard Luther and Diego hurrying towards the van.
"This is it. He's still here. This is Five's van," Luther spoke. "Go. Go." He went to open the door, rattling the handle. He sighed.
Diego stepped forward and picked the lock, opening the door. After he opened it, the two tried to go in at the same time.
"I'm One," Luther remarked to Diego.
Diego resisted an eye roll and slid the back door open.
"Damn it," Luther grunted as he slipped inside.
"What are you two up to?" Karina went up to them, watching the two rustle around the van.
"I thought you'd be resting after last night," Diego told her.
"Rested as I can be, anyway. Have you found anything?" she leaned on the van.
"Not yet. I'm surprised to see you here instead of with him," Luther was skimming through the glove box.
"He dropped me off last night and that was the last time I saw him."
"So, even you have no clue where he is? You're his wife," Luther frowned.
Karina shrugged. "We all have secrets I suppose."
"Still can't believe he's the first brother to get hitched amongst us," Diego mumbled.
Karina sighed, deciding to help them in their search. They all looked around for a good ten minutes, still finding nothing. Diego picked up a small notebook and skimmed through it.
He whistled, catching the attention of Luther and Karina. "I know where to find Five," he held up the notebook page.
~ * ~
The three of them made their way to a library. They went inside and looked around.
"Let's split up," Luther suggested.
Diego shot him a look. "Wow. Good thinking."
The three split up and searched around the entire library, along with its multiple floors, but circled back to one another on the top floor with no luck.
"Anything?" Luther asked them.
"No," Karina bit her lip and Diego sighed.
"You wanna know why I left?" Diego stopped Luther in his tracks.
"What? What are you talking about?" he slowly came back over.
"Why I left the Academy."
"Yeah, 'cause you couldn't handle me being Number One."
Karina held back from an exasperated eye roll, wondering where the nearest escape was as she leaned on the wall.
"No. Because that's what you do when you're 17. You move out, become your own person, grow up," Diego lowly said.
"Oh, yeah. You're a real grown-up," Luther shot.
"At least I make my own decisions," Diego shot back, looking at him. "You've never had to hold down a job. Pay bills. You ever even been with a girl?"
Oh Lord, help me Karina thought in exasperation. She crossed her arms and looked up at the ceiling, shaking her head.
"I…" Luther cleared his throat almost awkwardly. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Diego gave a chuckle of disbelief. "Look, you wanna blame me, blame us for leaving…that's okay. But maybe you're asking yourself the wrong question. Maybe it's not about why we left. Maybe it's about why you stayed," he pointed out.
"I stayed because the world needed me," Luther went over to his side.
"You stayed because you couldn't let go of the way things used to be. The Academy. Dad. With Allison," Diego gave him a meaningful look. "Dad's dead. Mom too, now. We're orphans again, dude."
An elevator bell dinged and Karina began to walk off.
"And things are never gonna go back to the way they used to…be," Diego finished.
Karina heard women laughing.
"Do you ever stop talking?" Luther questioned.
"Where are his parents?" a lady asked and Karina perked up, hurrying in that direction.
"Wow, that was easy," Luther commented as they followed her.
"I'm gonna call security," a blonde walked past Karina.
Diego and Luther halted when they saw the scene. Five was on the ground, snoring, with a bottle of liquor in one hand and his other arm lazily slung around Delores. Karina scoffed as she knelt down to feel his forehead.
"Is he, um…?" Luther strung out.
"Drunk as a skunk," Diego was mildly amused.
Karina glanced up at them, curious to hear their next best course of action as the bottle slipped from Five's grasp. She just sighed, knowing they were in for a long night.
Luther scooped up Five and Delores, the three of them quietly exiting the library.
~ * ~
The alleyway was dark and damp, but, the four really had no idea where there was a safe option to go.
"Well, we can't go back to the house. It's not secure. Those psychopaths could come back at any moment," Luther pointed out.
"I don't have enough room, otherwise I would have offered," Karina softly spoke.
"My place is closer. No one will look for him there," Diego returned.
Five burped and Luther sighed. "If you vomit on me…" he warned the boy.
"You know what's funny?" Five slurred out. "Aah! I'm going through puberty." He scoffed. "Huh. Twice. And I-" He abruptly chuckled. "I drank that whole bottle, didn't I?"
"Afraid so," Karina replied flatly.
"Hiya, wifey," Five's head lulled as he gazed at her drunkenly. "That's what you do when the world you love goes bye-bye. Poof, it's gone." He flailed to take her arm. "What are you guys talkin' about?" He shifted to look at Karina. "And what happened to your pretty face?"
Diego sighed. "Two masked intruders attacked the Academy last night. They came looking for you, and if you need anything more astounding to make you listen to me, they hurt Karina pretty badly. So I need you to focus. What do they want?" he cut to the chase.
"Hazel and Cha-Cha," Five replied.
"Who?" Diego looked back at him.
"You know, I hate code names," Luther added.
"Ah, the best of the best. Except for me, of course," Five chuckled.
"The best of what?" Luther looked down at him.
"You know, Rina always said she hated when I drink. She said it made me surly…" Five rambled, trying to kiss her.
"Hey!" Diego snapped.
"Hm?" Five looked at him. "Yeah?"
"I need you to focus," Diego stopped and turned to face him. "What do this Hazel and Cha-Cha want?"
Five broke out into a snarky grin.
"We just wanna protect you," Diego continued gently.
"Protect me. I don't need your protection, Diego," Five remarked. "Do you have any idea how many people I've killed?"
"No," Diego's voice was low.
"I'm the Four frickin' Horsemen. The apocalypse is coming," Five turned in Luther's arms and vomited behind him.
Luther looked up in alarm and Diego turned away. Karina winced in disgust.
"Will you kiss me yet? I miss you," Five gazed up at her.
"After you're sober and brushed your teeth," she tried not to choke from his breath.
So with that, Diego led them off to his place to lay low for the night.
~ * ~
Diego guided everyone through the gym and into his place. Luther gently laid Five down on the bed, who was deep asleep. Karina perched next to him and she smiled when he subconsciously found her hand and clung to it. She gently brushed some fallen hair out of his peaceful face.
Diego and Luther were watching them thoughtfully.
"Funny. If I didn't know he was such a prick, I'd say he looks almost adorable in his sleep," Diego commented sarcastically.
"Well, don't worry. He'll sober up eventually," Karina returned softly.
"Be back to his normal, unpleasant self," Luther added.
"Yeah, I can't wait that long," Diego walked away a few steps. "I need to find out what his connection is with these lunatics before someone else dies. All that stuff he was saying before-" He paused when everyone heard thumping overhead.
"What do you think he meant by that?" Luther wanted to know.
Outside in the hall, the sound of footsteps approached. Luther and Diego shared a look. Diego unsheathed a knife and quietly crept to the door.
"You throw another one of those goddamn knives at me, I'm pressin' charges!" Al threatened when Diego abruptly swung open the door.
"What do you want, Al?" Diego asked.
Al stepped into the doorway. "I ain't your secretary."
"Yeah," Diego mumbled and headed down the stairs.
"Some lady called for you, said she needs your help."
"What lady?"
"I dunno. Some, uh, detective. I think she said her name was, uh, Blotch or somethin'."
"Patch?" Diego corrected and Al shrugged. He began to grin. "She needs my help."
"She needs you to meet her at that motel, a dump on Calhoun," Al informed him as he came up the stairs and looked at the note Al scribbled down. Luther slowly came over.
"When?" Diego questioned.
"About half an hour ago. Uh, said she found your brother," Al left the room.
The two boys looked at Five in confusion.
"Well, that didn't make sense," Diego commented.
"Klaus," they both drew out in realization.
"Go. I'll wait here with-" Luther stopped himself when Diego ran out and the door slammed shut. "Them," he sighed.
Karina nervously fiddled with her necklace, anxiously awaiting for Diego to return. Luther looked down at Delores in the chair and awkwardly patted her head.

Diego’s alarm blares you awake at 5:45AM - you know this without even opening your eyes because, unpredictable as Diego is, he always wakes up unreasonably early to work out. You know this because he always texts you at 6AM to bitch about how stiff his shoulders are.
Today, you’re sure, his whole body will be screaming at him. Having shown up at your door last night just after midnight, covered in dust and dirt and bruises, Diego had simply shrugged off your concerns.
“What-“, you started, but he was already sliding past you into your apartment. At least he had the decency to pat your cheek as he passed.
“Nothing to worry about.”, Diego said, rifling through your refrigerator as if it were his own. He didn’t need to know that you keep extra eggs in stock for him, after all. “I jumped out of a window, that’s all. Totally fine.”
His back was to you and you could still see his stupid little smile. “Well, excuse me for not figuring that one out right away. Unforgivable.”. He huffed out a quiet laugh at that, gingerly turning to face you with your last bottle of milk in hand.
“You want this for breakfast in the morning?”
You did. You absolutely did. He dropped off a box of your favourite cereal two days ago, claiming to have been ‘passing by’, and that was total bullshit because the closest store is 15 minutes’ walk away from your house, and he shouldn’t even have known your favourite cereal because Diego Hargreeves was very much not your boyfriend.
Anyway.
His bust lower lip had twisted up into a too-soft smile when you said, “Nah, go for it. Just don’t drink it so fast that you’re sick this time. I’ll be in the bathroom to help fix you up when you’re done.”
-
The window is now taking its revenge. Is this his karma for destruction of property, you muse to yourself as you stretch the kind of stretch that makes your whole body shake, or for waking you up last night? Diego grunts. The alarm shuts off and you hear his phone clatter unceremoniously back onto the nightstand.
“Good morning.”
“Ah, shit. Sorry. Go back to sleep, I’ll be out of here in a minute.”. Bless his soul, he really does sound apologetic. Thankfully, the deep rumble of his first-thing-in-the-morning voice does wonders to put you in a good mood with him.
When you roll over to face him, you’re not quite sure what you notice first: the gentle, bleary brown eyes, or the bruise smacked right across his cheekbone. “Hm, it’s okay. How are you feeling?”
Diego’s palm envelops the back of your hand and gives a quick squeeze. “Great.”, he hums, despite how exhausted he looks. “Thanks for letting me crash here. I’ll bring you breakfast after my workout.” - and you’re at least 60% sure he was born with persuasive powers, too, because the way he looks at you leaves you reeling in the early morning light, and he’s halfway sat up before you can even react.
“Nope. No. Absolutely not. You need to rest today.”, you insist, grabbing his wrist to stop him in his tracks. Diego is a stubborn little shit and he looks at you like you’re an idiot - sweetly, sympathetically, and you’d want to kill him if he hadn't managed to carve out such a soft spot in your chest. He swings his legs over the edge of the bed, and you permit it if only to admire them. It’s far too early for subtlety and, hey, Diego’s always loved flattery.
“I don’t have time.”
When flattery doesn’t work, reason is your next best bet. A little guilt can't hurt, either, right? You pout up at him. “Who’s committing crimes at 6AM, baby? It can wait.”
(You should not call Diego that. He is not your boyfriend.
His face lights up just a bit.)
“Troublemakers.”
He smirks, and you know you’ve lost with that approach. Diego flip-flops between sweetness and sarcasm as if he's attached to a particularly irritating bungee cord, promising you breakfast one minute and deliberately driving you crazy the next. With a brush of his thumb over your knuckles, he’s moving away and stretching his arms over his head with a groan.
You wag an accusatory finger at him, still squinting in the ray of sunlight that manages to penetrate through your broken shutters. You’ll get him to fix it later this week. “Troublemakers like the guys who crash through innocent windows?”
“That’s different-“
“-In fact,”, you smile, poking at the skin of his gorgeous back in a petty attempt to get his attention solely back on you. “Maybe I should report you to the police. Bring down the crime rates and all.”
“You’d love to see me in handcuffs, huh?”, he quips as he stands and stretches again, giving you a perfect view of those lithe muscles in action. Boy, would you ever. But the smugness in his voice is way too evident, even if you can’t see his face: your only option is to scoff.
“You’d be lucky.”, which is absolutely true (because you would rock his shit), because you’re pretty sure Diego is all bark and no bite, because you’ve seen just enough of his hidden tender side to really believe all his cocky jokes. You try not to dwell on it too much, but a tiny part of your heart believes that maybe Diego really, really cares for you.
Maybe it’s because of how he leans back over the bed to hold your cheek in his palm. God, he has you crumbling with that look in his eyes sometimes. “Go back to sleep. I’ll see you soon.”
Then his touch is gone, and it’s so embarrassing how you almost chase after it, but you smush your face into the pillow with a sigh. He’s stubborn as a mule and you're too exhausted to put up much more of a fight. Maybe you should just let him go for his ridiculous workout. Let him push his tired body, and let him send you an extra bitchy text in half an hour. You’ll ignore him, really teach him a lesson. See how he likes that.
You're just beginning to snicker into the pillow when Diego bends down to grab his shirt, staggers on his bad leg, and whimpers in pain.
Oh, well. Not a chance he's leaving now.
Three weeks ago, Diego had insisted on giving you some sort of self-defence training, which you had only actually agreed to on the assumption that you’d be able to annoy the shit out of him with it later. The main focus had been on ‘using the opponent’s size against them’ - this was not the first time you’d understood the reason behind all the Batman jokes - and, oh, this is the perfect opportunity to test your new skills.
With all the grace of a drunken bull, you leap from the bed, nearly tripping on the tangled bedsheets, and wrap your arms around his waist. Diego reaches out to steady you even as you're dragging him back towards the bed, tumbling down with him in tow and turning the impact into a roll that leaves him on the far side of the bed, with you curled tightly around his back, arm draped across his chest. The final step is to sling your leg over his hip, effectively pinning him with the least possible pressure on his sore muscles.
“Honey-”, Diego begins, but then you're running your fingers through his hair and it dissolves into a quiet little oh that you’re sure looks perfect on those pouty lips. It strikes you that this is the first time Diego has let you hold him - you're always the little spoon, on the rare occasions that both of you give in to the desire to touch each other, and you’re shocked by how right it seems to feel him melt into your touch. All the fight vanishes from his body in seconds.
“…I sleep better when you’re here, you know.” - and it’s not using any tricks to get him to stay, it’s just the plain truth. Diego’s breath hitches in his throat. It’s partially for selfish reasons that you want him to stay in bed, you admit, but mostly because he deserves a rest for once. You worry for him more than you would ever let him know. He probably figures it out, anyway, once you give in and drop your forehead to rest against the back of his neck. Somehow, you can't bring yourself to care - it’s much nicer to just enjoy how he kisses your wrist on the next brush of your fingers through his hair.
He’s leaning into your hand even before he pretends to grudgingly concede. “Just another hour.”
You’ll see about that.

ALPHA.
• hamish duke x fem!reader
warning(s) ⚠️: none? somewhat angst (not really), death, mentions of blood
pairings: vera x niece!reader, hamish duke x reader
summary: y/n is vera stones niece who had been inducted into the hermetic order of the blue rose 4 years ago (senior in college) however when reviewing books in the reliquary/vault for an assignment she stumbles upon a certain fur coat, the hide of alpha.

-
y/n had barely set foot into the temple before alyssa almost tackled her to the floor. "geez, medicum, watch where you're going."
"magistratus! you're just the person i was looking for! im so sorry for bumping into you but uh, " the blonde gestures behind her with a hand, "the temple magus would like to see you..." she says, before plastering an awkward smile and walking off.
"and i thought today couldn't get any worse..." y/n mumbled.
y/n walked down the corridor before stopping at the large doors which the temple magus who just so happened to be her aunt, sat behind.
the doors opened before her, and she was met with her aunt and a large older man. "temple magus." y/n said nodding her head, glancing at the man that was stood beside her aunt in confusion.
"magistratus, welc-" vera was interrupted by the older man beside her.
"vera quit with the formalities, she's your niece!" he chuckled.
"edward coventry, the grand magus." edward extended his hand out for y/n to shake. she embraced his hand with hers giving a firm shake.
"your aunt has told me a lot about you y/n,"
"all good things, i assume." y/n responded.
"yes, of course, you could say im intrigued... meet me in the temple tomorrow afternoon. I have an interesting assignment for you."
-
the door clattered open as alyssa made her way into the temple where y/n and a few other magistratus' stood.
the others glanced in shock, "what is a medicum doing here?" selena questioned as she snickered at kyle as alyssa walked past the group.
"she's here like the rest of us, the magus wouldn't have allowed her to be here if she hadn't proven herself." y/n said in an attempt to get selena to shut up.
"are you sure? the only reason you're a magistratus is because of your auntie." selena continued.
y/n rolled her eyes tired of dealing with selena, "you're right, who else promotes us besides the magus? selena, why don't you keep your mouth shut, before i shut it for you, after all, my aunt is the temple magus."
before selena could utter a snarky remark edward strode in.
"okay! vera says that you're the ones with the most potential. potential will get you into the door, but it will not guarantee you a seat, " edward rips off the cloth which was obstructing the view of what appeared to be an obsidian block, "at the table." he continued.
"this obsidian block is estimated to be between, mhm, 1,500 and 2,000 years old." he gesticulates to the block.
"but spoiler alert. this is no ordinary... hunk of rock," he says, dropping a bug onto the rock which in turn burst.
"something is inside this obsidian that people don't want others to have. i want you to reverse engineer the magic protecting this stone."
y/n notices alyssa begins to write "deleatur?" on her notebook, as kyle glances at the word on the book before speaking up.
'of course he would, arrogant prick....' y/n thinks to herself.
"magus?" kyle steps forward, "with your permission?" he continued, as edward motioned towards the rock, as a signal to continue.
kyle raised a knife to his right hand before slicing it and muttering "deleatur", flicking his wrist toward the stone.
shortly after the flick of his wrist, his right forearm collided against his upper arm, his limb broken now, bone sticking out.
he gasps in pain, which puts a small smirk on y/ns face, 'serves him right...' roaming in her mind.
"you know how to heal that?" edward breaks the silence. kyle responded with a shake of his head 'no'.
"right. my driver will take you to the hospital."
kyle walks out of the room, hunched over, cradling his right arm the best that he can.
edward picks the obsidian up from its frame, "now that you know what you're dealing with, impress me." before he follows behind kyle.
"alyssa. make sure the temple gets a proper cleansing." are his last words.
"at once, magus." alyssa replied.
"now we know why she's here." diego called, his arm around selena's shoulder calls, a smirk on his face as she laughs before they continue to make their way out of the temple.
a sigh falls from alyssa's lips.
"don't worry about them medicum, you're not here for that. they just feel threatened by you." the y/h/c (your hair colour, i.e. brunette, blonde) girl spoke up.
"thanks, magistratus." alyssa responded.
y/n simply nodded in return, before stalking off to go pester her aunt, she had an idea about an incantation that might work on reversing the magic which was protecting the obsidian.
-
next day...
y/n's fist met the door as she knocked.
she could faintly hear the word "aperiatur" slip from her aunt's lips, as the doors opened.
"magistratus." vera greeted y/n.
y/n rolled her eyes, her aunt had always been so persistent in remaining professional at the temple, so that other members never thought y/n only got in due to vera.
"hey auntie vera," y/n says her words practically covered in honey.
"one. what did i tell you about keeping our professionalism and two. what do you want?" vera smirked knowing her niece too well.
a sigh came from y/n's lips, knowing her aunt had caught on.
"you're aware of the assignment of edward's that i'm apart of?" her aunt nodded in respond to the question.
"well i need to get into the vault, and before you interrupt me there's a book in there that i want to examine and see if i can find an incantation for the assignment." y/n explained, she had been planning on talking to her aunt the day before but something had come up.
"no." vera gulped knowing well she had given alyssa, a medium, access to the reliquary the day before. however the vault is different she reassured herself.
"of course, god forbid you do me one favour." y/n said her voice sour, her head nodding in false understanding.
"y'know ive worked my ass twice as hard as anyone else to be here, and yet i'm always getting criticized the most for every simple mistake that i make which aren't very many..." y/n began, her aunts answer irking her.
"and you decide to do alyssa the kiss ass a favour and give her access to the reliquary when she's a medicum, however, you can't do me a favour and let me use the vault once." y/n finishes brows furrowed, done with her aunt at the moment.
y/n began to stalk off before vera stopped the girl.
"y/n. you may use the vault." vera murmured.
the y/h (your height i.e. short, tall) girl returned to the room silently.
she handed y/n a necklace with a pentagon-shaped charm attached to it. "repeat after me. sanguis meus tuas laminate acuit." vera says the incantation.
"sanguis meus tuas laminate acuit."
with the movement of vera's hand, the bookshelves began to separate and opened to a corridor.
"y/n, sweetheart, you know i love you. the only reason i criticize you, harshly at times, is because i know you have the potential to be twice as great as you already are. greater than me." her aunt said dripping in sympathy and love.
however, y/n doubted that.
"of course i know because you remind me so often." the words slipped from y/n's lips, filled with sarcasm.
y/n made her way through the fear corridor and into the vault clutching the pentagon necklace as vera watched from the entrance.
-
y/n had been searching for the incantation for a few hours now and had yet to find the incantation.
she had rummaged through all the books that were out in the open and visible before deciding maybe there were some in hiding.
she had scoured high and low for books and had nearly given up before her eyes caught a rugged brown chest of some sort.
"this has to be it!" she exclaimed to herself, noticing the lock on the latch of it.
she'd assumed vera had left a while ago, and figured she'd have to talk to her about it the next day.
however, before she could even reach for the lock, it burst and the top of the trunk rose.
all she could see was some kind of fur coat before it had engulfed her and her vision was captured by darkness as she gasped.
(a/n: thank the lord she's a werewolf now, we can now get to the good part!!!!! 🥳)
-
a groan emitted from the y/h/c, as she began to stir. she felt like she was repeatedly getting pricked by something.
sweat dripped down her trembling body, teeth chattering from the cold. her eyes peeled open, vision fuzzy before it cleared. she wrapped her arms around herself, her arms met her bare chest.
her eyes widened in realization, she was naked.
eyes gazing down, she took in her bare body, painted red. her fingers met the dark red, substance. blood. blood, that was not her own.
"no, no, no, shit! what the fuck did i do?" y/n says in disbelief, hands twitching, as panic fills her veins.
she retrieves herself from the dirt of the forest as she makes her way through the large trees, hiding behind them every so often in order to not expose herself in case anyone were to be in the forest.
she nears a tent not too far from where she awoke and evaluates the area for anyone. it appeared to be vacant, so y/n made her way toward the tent in search of something to cover her bare body with.
however, when she neared the tent, her vision was once again met with blood. on the ground lay a man a hole where his heart should be. her vision became blurred by the tears that filled her eyes. this was the persons life she had took. a young man, who had his whole life ahead of him.
and it was put to an end because of her.
his blood was on her hands. literally.
though her hands trembled y/n had managed to rummage through his things, and find a change if clothes which we had immediately put on.
the pieces of cloth, which caressed her body, aided in warming her. she didn't waste another second and got to work quickly, digging somewhat of a grave for the male.
once she had covered the now cadaver-filled hole, y/n gathered a few leaves which took the place of which would ideally be flowers.
she sniffled, viciously blinking to try and rid her eyes of tears. y/n gently pressed the leaves into the soil, before getting up from her knees.
next came getting rid of any evidence that the man had ever set foot in the woods. she used a simple incantation to rid the small area of any objects.
after she had done so, she mad her journey near the edge of the woods, which she was quite familiar with, being in the order and they tend to venture in the woods often, especially when recruiting neophytes.
however, around fifteen minutes had passed, and y/n's eyesight was no longer a captive to the never-ending trees.
she no longer knew where she was... she'd never seen a house on the outskirts of the woods. she wondered if it had always been there.
y/n hadn't thought up a plan, before she knew it her legs were carrying her to the front door, and her curled fist met the wood of the door.
she truly hadn't thought about what she was gonna say, until she had knocked on the door.
what would she do? how would she explain her dishevelled appearance? the blood... oh god she had forgotten that she was practically drenched in the dark fluid from head to toe.

Note
7 and 15, and I want you to actually think about 15, really introspect bc you went from nearly nothing to several novels worth in a single year and I'm curious as to what the tipping point was.
(from get to know your author ask game)
7) when asked, are you embarrassed or enthusiastic to tell people that you write?
Unfortunately a bit embarrassed, even though the irl people who know have always been really nice and supportive about it. I think it's the Mortifying Ordeal of Being Known because I am proud of what I've written but as soon as I find out an irl friend has read one of my fics I want to curl up and die lmao
15) why did you start writing?
I can't believe you want actual introspection on this that's so cruel. A Full Answer I will give you, though, because you asked for it.
Under a Read More because I got rambly whups --
I do think it was a perfect storm of inspiration, motivation, and time. I've written the equivalent of fic in my head for a decade - my daydreams are really text based, more-so than action/image based as I'll think of the action happening but narrate it as it happens (does that make sense?) I just never actually wrote any of it down, it stayed in my head to replay and play with. In July? August? of 2020 I watched the Umbrella Academy for the first time and was pulled right in, did my usual rewatching and fanfic reading. I think what made this time different, though, is that I had a lot of time on my hands to do my mental "fic"-writing. My job is very manual based so I'm free to think all day. I work by myself because of covid precautions, the only person in my little building, so no other person to talk with or distract me from it. I'd come home to my apartment I live alone in. Rinse and repeat while I just kept stewing on TUA.
The first idea I had where I had the thought of "oh, I could actually write this" was an inspired interview with Allison and then Five, structured like a magazine interview, to explain his return. I was really smitten with that idea, was having a lot of fun thinking about it, and no one else had written anything like it despite me wanting to read it. So, when I got home from work that night, I booted up Word and started doing just that.
And you know what? It was super fun. So I kept poking. I work limited hours because of work-place covid precautions, too, so I also had a lot of time to write. I wrote some more. Started some other little WIPs, started what has become Joining Together. Went on a walk after Thanksgiving to look at Christmas lights, feeling lonely and sorry for myself because I wasn't going to see any family for the holidays, and thought up Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. I was so pleased with how that one came out that I did the unthinkable and posted it on AO3 before I could psych myself out - and proceeded to obsess over every single hit it got.
And you all! You all were so goshdarn nice, so goshdarn supportive of my little trial, that I went and wrote another little thing, a companion to the first, and shared that, too (Faithful Friends Who Are Dear To Us). Lo and behold, you all were really nice about that one too. Third times the charm and on a night when I couldn't sleep, I thought about Five being up and drunk and Luther stuck trying to get him to bed, I took some notes, finally found some sleep, and wrote Lonely Drunk when I woke up the next day. And I've been truly hooked on the joy of sharing my silly little writing ever since.
How things got insane, how I got to be a person who wrote almost half a million words in one year, I don't know. I ask myself that, too. Lots of time to be writing is number one. Good friends who motivate me and let me ramble at them with new ideas and snips is number two. An audience who is so supportive and wonderfully vocal to make this more social than just me by myself writing for me (although I am my target audience) is a huuuuge bonus. This is a really rambly way to say - it was fun. I had time to fill, needed a hobby, had had ideas floating around my head - just waiting to be put to paper - for years, and needed a way to connect with people while working and living alone in the middle of a pandemic. And writing fic somehow happened to hit the perfect niche of all of those things. It's all been so unexpected and I've gotten to write things I never dreamed I'd write, find catharsis and so much joy - it's been a wild ride. Can't wait to see where it takes me next.

Mates In Hell
Part:2
Tumblr media
Heidi,Jane,Esme x reader (Romantic)
Alec x reader (platonic)
Cullens x reader (platonic)
Tags: @rexburn12
Part 1
An:Since this is a romantic pairing i aged Alec and jane up to 18 so their of legal age.
Also Idk why but i imagined the reader having a Russian accent while writing this XD it was strange but anyways I'm so sorry this took so long,i hope you like it!
}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{
Esme stuck close to my side ever since we met, though i didn't mind one bit. After years of solitude i had finally met my beautiful mate,i was content.
At least...i should be..
No matter what i did i still felt this empty hole in my chest, and though Esme helped to fill it i still felt empty.I felt selfish in a way,i didn't want Esme to feel like she wasn't enough. So i tried to brush it off and continued on living with the cullens.
Easier said then done.
I jumped into attack mode when the sound of glass shattering caught my attention,Esme followed after me as i ran downstairs to the first floor of our cottage, flames about to ignite from deep within.A sigh of relief flew out as i saw that it was only alice, who had merely dropped a vase of flowers she was bringing over,"Is everything alright little one?" I asked, helping her keep steady.
"How..Riley biers..he's still alive...and he's coming with a new army of newborns." She muttered. Apparently he was bad if Esmes terrified expression was anything to go off of,"Who is this..Riley Biers?"
Esme took Alice's hand, leading her into the living room as i followed.Mentally preparing herself before explaining everything.
"He tried to kill you all? Lost and has the audacity to try and fight you again?Does he have no honor?" Alice nodded before looking to her mother who was currently pacing infront of the fireplace,"when will they be here by?" I asked. "Before sundown tomorrow. In the same field from last time." Alice looked down, trying to recall every detail of her vision.
"What do we do? We can't risk him getting to Renesmee." Esme said as i stood up and pulled her into my arms.Kissing the top of her head i stared deep into her golden eyes,"I won't let them get her,i promise to protect all of you. Because if they want you they'll have to go through me first, and I'll unleash hells wrath on them." I stated cupping her cheeks protectively.
With that settled we called the others for a family meeting and went to the cullens house, quickly filling them in.
"But the Volturi are coming to check on Renesmee tomorrow." Bella stated hugging her daughter close,"We'll have to deal with them after...i should have finished Riley off myself but i didn't realize we never burned his body." Edward stated rubbing his wifes shoulder.
"Theres no use dwelling on that now.But Edwards right, one problem at a time.Riley was a follower, merely the face of the army before,he had no real control. But he's had a while to prepare,we'll be outnumbered." Jasper added, the major peeking out a bit in his tone.
"Yes but you've never had a Hellhound fighting beside you." I said with a smirk,"I've fought worse enemies then a few puny newborns. My fire and strength will deal with them quickly." Esme giggled when i flexed my arm muscle before wrapping one around her shoulders, surrounding her in my warm embrace.
While the others discussed battle tactics she watched my profile,She knew her family would be safe with me around. But she couldn't hide the pinch inside of her,I had been so off,as if there was a chunk of myself that wasn't satisfied. She hoped it was nothing, since i had been alone for so long she assumed i was just getting antsy. She just hoped the battle will satisfy me enough.
}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{
Heidi froze suddenly causing the twins to look at her in confusion,"Heidi what is it?" Alec asked seeing her dazed expression. "Don't you smell that? It's calming like lavender and as intoxicating as blood."
Jane sniffed the air, suddenly sharing Heidis expression."I do...where is that coming from..?"
Alec looked between the two with worry and confusion,"What are you guys talking about? I don't smell anything like that at all." Before he could even finish the two were already speeding off deeper into the forest,he huffed before following.
When the three guards finally stopped they realized they had stepped into the middle of a battle, newborns were being torn apart left and right by the cullens, the wolf pack and..a (P/n) on fire?
"Aro never mentioned another newborn army..where did they come from?" Alec asked watching as a newborn was ripped to shreds by one of the wolves.
As the two women watched they realized the person on fire was the source of the intoxicating smell.
They had to get closer.
}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{
Standing over Riley Biers i watched as he cowered down at my intimidating appearance, right as i was about to go for the kill the wind picked up.Sniffing the air my pupils dilated.
This familiar scent...where had i smelt it before?
Ahh that's right..the same scent that had flooded my senses when i first met Esme.
Turning around i saw two beautiful women and a confused man watching me,the womens red eyes widened slightly with parted lips.
}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{
As if under Zafrina's power their world suddenly changed around them.
Aro sat with his usual melicious grin, an evil glint in his eyes at the presence of the incoming figure.
"Is everything ready?" Aro asked raising a brow.
"Yes Master, training has gone wonderfully, their ready for the real thing." The ravenhaired king clasped his hands together.
"Wonderful,I'm counting on you...Riley."
Said man nodded,"But master, didn't you send the witch twins and Heidi to check on the hybrid?"
Aro tilted his head, clasping his hands together,"I trust that you'll dispose of them for me,If you succeed then you'll be replacing them." He said with a bastardly grin and an echoing chuckle.
That was the last thing they heard as the world returned to the present.
}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~}{
The three glanced at eachother with the same hurt expression,"He truly didn't care? Was he so ready to get rid of us?" Jane growled now glaring at Riley tempted to use her gift.
Heidi crossed her arms,"I should have seen this coming,no wonder he was so eager to send us on this mission..He wanted to kill us." Alec looked down,"He had planned this all along, and we played right into his trap.."
Esme watched them sadly, knowing immediately who they were talking about. But a sudden movement caught her attention, she gasped and yelled to her distracted mate.
"(Y/N)! LOOK OUT!"
Right as i turned back to Riley a newborn had tackled me off,As we rolled and tossled for dominance trying to find a leverage over the other Riley stood up glaring with a smirk at the Volturi guards."I'd say i pity you and apologize, but i really don't care." The three got into a fighting stance but Esme was quick to speed over and push the three behind her,"Stay away from them Riley." She hissed,he chuckled and walked closer"Or what? You're just the weak mother of the cullens right? You can't hurt me." She glanced past him for a moment, before looking at him with a smile.
"You're right,I might not be able to....but i know who can." Right as he went to attack a clawed hand ripped through his chest. The fire burned his marble skin causing him to scream in agony.
I roared as i tore him in half, throwing his upper half away from his lower half.My flames from hell were quick to turn him to ash,the wind blew his ashes away, proving he wasn't going to hurt anyone ever again.
"Are you all alright?" Esme asked quickly running to my side as i fell to my knees,my fire dispersing."I am alright my love, merely overwhelmed with my emotions." I huffed looking over at the two woman behind her.
Jane and Heidis red eyes were enchanting,a small smile rested on their lips,"You two,you are my mates?"
Esmes eyes widened,"What? I..I didn't realize you could have more than one? How is this possible?" I chuckled as she helped me up,"I am a hellhound,i stopped questioning why and how a long time ago." Walking over to them with a wide grin i held out my arms, chuckling when they ran into them.
"This is it Esme,All three of you together is what filled the whole in my heart!" She watched us for a moment before smiling, walking into the hug.
"I always thought I'd be destined to never find my mate,my gift never made anyones feelings for me anything more than lust." Heidi said burying her beautiful face in my neck. Jane rubbed her cheek into my chest, finally relishing in the touch of someone other than her brother. He was the only one to ever hug her.
"I suppose we'll need a bigger cottage now to fit all four of us." Esme said with a smile.
Janes head shot up,"Wait, what about my brother." She turned back to Alec who had a sad smile on his face,"It is alright sister, you have waited so long to find la tua anima gemella(your soulmate).I will be fine."
She looked up at me sadly,With a sigh i nodded,"I wouldn't dream of splitting siblings apart,he may live with us as well." She smiled and nearly toppled me over in a hug, laughing i lifted her and heidi up,esme brought alec over with a motherly smile.
She should feel jealous, but as she watched us,seeing the happy smiles on all of our faces made her realize something.
After years of waiting to finally find her mate, she finally found me,and now we were building a family of our own.
And so long as she was 'alive',nothing was going to tear us apart, she knew I'd make sure of it.

Extra Ordinary
~ * ~
The next morning, after Five very briefly explained what he was up to last night, Karina was stitching his arm up.
"So, you're telling me…hold still!" Karina instructed, wincing slightly when Five hissed in pain. "That you decided to risk your life by blinking into a store during closing hours just so you could steal a mannequin?"
"Delores was our friend and she even asked to be your maid of honor. I couldn't just leave her there. She helped us before, she can help us again," Five remarked.
Karina held back from rolling her eyes. "I am aware she was your companion for the first five years of being alone in the apocalypse, but, you could have been smarter about this. Or at least not have gone alone."
"And risked your life instead? No way. Hazel and Cha-Cha are ruthless, as you can see."
"Yeah, well, sooner or later you're going to need more help," Karina finished stitching his wound up and cleaning up the excess blood. She put a bandaid over it and gave his cheek a kiss.
He faintly blushed. "Thanks. Speaking of help, you can help me watch the guy from the prosthetic office. I want to know what that son of a bitch is up to. Consider it a couple's field trip, dear," Five stood up to put a clean uniform on.
Karina turned around so he could get changed. "How exciting," she flatly sighed.
Once he was ready, he slung his backpack on and opened the window so the two could get out through the fire escape. Little did they know someone was busily dumpster diving below.
"Damn it, where's Dad's stuff?" Klaus groaned.
"Can we go see a movie or something? Or the ocean?" Ben Hargreeves asked.
Though Five and Karina had no clue Ben was there, they could hear Klaus rummaging around.
"Shut up! I'm trying to find whatever…priceless crap was in that priceless box so that Pogo will get off my ass!" Klaus snapped as Five and Karina climbed down the ladder.
"I'd ask what you're up to, Klaus, but then it occurred to me…I don't care," Five paused.
"Hey!" Klaus laughed. "You know there are easier ways out of the house, buddy?" he watched as Five landed on the ground before helping Karina down.
"This one involved the least amount of talking. Or so I thought," Five took her hand into the crook of his arm.
"Hey, hey, hey, so. You need any more company today? Besides the wifey? I could, uh…clear my schedule," Klaus took a drink out of the flask in his hand.
Five eyed him warily. "Looks like you've got your hands full."
"Oh, this? No, no. I can do this whenever. I'm just…" Klaus suddenly fell into the dumpster and there was a clatter. "I just misplaced something. That's all. Oh! Found it! Thank God!" Klaus popped back up with a half eaten doughnut in his hand. He sighed and took a bite, gulping. "Delicious."
Karina watched him in partial disgust as Five rolled his eyes. "I'm done funding your drսg habit." He gently led Karina off.
"Come on! You don't-maybe I just wanna hang out with my brother and my sister-in-law!" Klaus looked at Ben. "Not you." He saw Five and Karina climb into a van. "Mi hermano! I love you! Even if you can't love yourself!"
The car doors slammed shut and the engine started before the van took off. A couple of blocks down, Five parked the van in an alley, out of view.
"This isn't suspicious at all," Karina dryly observed.
"He can't see us," Five retorted, watching Lance walk towards the building. "Oh, shit. Hey." He sighed, taking out a mannequin in a polka dotted blouse from his backpack. "Sorry you were in there for so long, Delores."
Karina eyed him.
"No, I'm not drunk. I'm working. Yes, it's about the eye thing. This is the place it was made. Or…will be made," Five sighed. "We just have to wait." He looked at Karina. "Rina's here, too. I'm sure she's happy to see you as well."
"Yup. Hi Delores," Karina greeted casually as she pulled a book out and began reading.
~ * ~
Five was busy studying his surroundings when he frowned, noticing white flakes beginning to drift down from the sky.
"No," he muttered, getting out of the van to see that everything around him were in ashes. He frantically looked around. "No! Rina! Guys! Rina! Where are you?"
"Five," Luther's voice distantly called. "Five!"
"Five, what's going on?" Karina's voice echoed as Five looked back at the van.
"Rina?" he drew out fearfully, wondering where she was.
"Hey, Five!" Luther sounded with a knock.
"No!" Five screamed.
"Five!" Luther shot Five out of his flashback.
Five jumped, feeling Karina's gentle hand on his shoulder. He weakly gave her a smile as the two watched Luther struggle to get into the passenger seat of the van.
"You okay?" Luther asked his brother.
"You shouldn't be…how did you find us?" Five was exasperated.
"Oh. Um…" Luther glanced back and so did Five and Karina.
"Hey, baby…" Klaus was pretend swaying with Delores. "Hey, a little privacy, guys. We're really hitting it off back here." He screamed as Five chucked an empty cup at him.
"Get out!" Five yelled. "You can't be here! We're in the middle of something!"
He turned back to Luther.
"Any luck finding your one-eyed man?" Klaus whispered, joining the three.
"No," Karina replied.
"What's he talkin' about?" Luther frowned.
"Does it matter? It's Klaus," Five sighed. "What do you want, Luther?"
"Um…so, Grace may have had something to do with Dad's death. So I need you to come back to the academy, all right? It's important."
"'It's important.' You have no concept of what's important," Five remarked and Karina nudged him.
"Hey! Did I ever tell you guys about the time I waxed my ass with chocolate pudding?" Klaus interrupted the tension, causing Five to wrinkle his nose and look away as Karina cringed in disgust. Luther was just lost as Klaus laughed. "It was so painful."
"What are you still doing here?" Luther questioned him.
"Ay, ay, ay…what? I…what? I need an excuse to hang out with my family?" Klaus returned.
"We're trying to have a serious conversation."
"What, and I'm incapable of being serious? Is that what you're saying?"
"Luther's got a point, you should get out," Five agreed.
Klaus was in disbelief. "What? Fine! I get it. The wife gets to stay but the weirdo brother doesn't!" he ranted before exiting the van and slamming the door shut.
"Do you really think kicking him out was a good idea?" Karina raised an eyebrow.
"Yes. What the hell are you two up to?" Luther demanded as Karina went back to reading her book, wanting nothing to do with the current conversation.
Five was casual. "You wouldn't understand."
"Try me. Last I checked, I'm still the leader of this family," Luther tried to impose authority.
"Well, last I checked, I'm 28 years older than you and Rina is your sister-in-law, so don't pull that shit on her," Five shot back.
"You know what your problem is?" Luther eyed him.
"Really hoping you'll tell me," Five rolled his eyes.
"You think you're better than us. You always have. Even when we were kids," Luther sighed. "But the truth is, you're just as messed up as the rest of us. We're all you have. And you know it."
"I have Rina, so no, you are not all I have. Disregard her again and I'll send your ass back to the moon. Besides, I don't think that I'm better than you, Number One. I know I am," Five bit out with a rather bitter chuckle. "I've done unimaginable things, things you couldn't even comprehend."
"Right," Luther dismissed.
"Just to get back here and save you all," Five finished coldly.
"Hey, bitches!" Klaus suddenly caught their attention with his arms full of stolen snacks as he ran past the van.
A police officer blew his whistle, chasing Klaus. "You, get back here!"
"Out of the way, asshоlе!" Klaus shouted.
"Now I'm starting to wonder if that was the wisest decision," Five commented as another car's tires squealed and Klaus ran into an incoming taxi.
Karina took her chance by casually leaning on the back edge of his seat. "I normally don't say this but: I told you so," she smugly shot and he gave her a look for it.
~ * ~
It was nighttime now. Five, Karina, and Delores were still in the van, watching for Lance to make an appearance. Karina was asleep in the passenger seat and Five debated if he should just take her back to his room where she'd be more comfortable.
"You know, you don't have to tell me that. I know there are only six days left. Yeah, you got a better idea?" Five scoffed at Delores. "Okay, then." He looked out and saw Lance leave the building with a bag in his hand. He gently shook Karina awake.
"What?" she groaned and he pointed to Lance.
"There's our guy."
Lance went over to a car approaching him. He opened the car door, slipping the bag in and subtly hiding a folder in his coat.
"What the hell is he up to?" Five muttered.
"Beats me," Karina yawned.
He glanced at her. "Do you need me to take you home so you can rest?"
"I'd really prefer to stay with you."
"Are you sure?"
Karina nodded but she yawned again.
"Yeah, no. You're going to bed," Five scooped her up and blinked into his room.
"You need your sleep, too," Karina argued as he laid her down on his bed.
"Later. First I want to figure out what that Lance guy is up to," Five tucked her in. "I'll be back."
"Five, wait-" she reached for him but he blinked out, leaving her alone. She groaned and rolled her eyes, deciding it was no use to follow him. So, she ended up falling back asleep.
Bang!
A shot fired woke Karina up from a sound sleep. She cursed, throwing the covers off of her. She glanced at the hall to see a woman in a weird animal mask chasing Allison down the hall.
"Shit! Hazel and Cha-Cha!" Karina raced after them.
She quietly snuck through the house and heard more rounds, coming from the basement kitchen. Along the way, she grabbed a katana from the wall, as well as a spare knife Diego left.
Karina silently crept down the stairs, seeing that Allison was fighting Cha-Cha.
"You want to rumor this psycho?" Diego stalked into the room.
"I don't need to because this bitch just pissed me off!" Allison whirled around.
"We just want the boy!" Cha-Cha hissed.
"Oh. Well in that case!" Karina kicked the back of Cha-Cha as Allison kicked her a few times.
Karina blocked a few strikes with the katana, but Cha-Cha flipped and sent her foot crashing into her nose. She screamed out as Cha-Cha struck her clean in the side with the pool stick, probably cracking a rib or two and sending her to the floor.
"Karina!" Allison slid to her side as Diego whistled to get Cha-Cha's attention.
He started fighting her now as Karina groaned, handing Allison the knife she had. Allison grinned and sprung up, kicking Cha-Cha hard and making her stumble back.
"Get her," Allison handed him the knife and he threw it, stabbing Cha-Cha in the back of the leg as she tried to get upstairs.
Diego gently helped Karina to her feet. "Are you okay?"
"I've felt worse," Karina seethed angrily, wiping blood from her nose and grabbing her weapon off the ground.
"Come on," he almost growled as the three stormed out.
They went upstairs to find the others. Vanya was hiding from Hazel and Luther was on the ground near the staircase.
"Luther!" Allison raced to his side. "Come on, Luther, get up."
"Ah, you gotta cut down on that fast food, soldier," Diego helped Allison get him to his feet as Karina looked around.
Cha-Cha was upstairs, eyeing the rope that held the chandelier up. She glared down at the four.
"No!" Karina screamed as Cha-Cha stabbed the rope, sending the chandelier crashing down.
"Get out of the way!" Luther shoved Allison back and Diego dove off, taking Karina with him.
"Luther!" Allison cried as the chandelier fell on him.
Hazel and Cha-Cha quickly made their escape while Luther grunted and panted, slowly getting to his feet. He pushed the chandelier off of him, ripping the coat off and exposing what Sir Reginald did to him all those years ago: turn his upper body half-ape.
Allison, Diego, Vanya, and Karina stared at him in shock.
"Holy shit," Diego drew out.
Luther looked around breathlessly, before he ran away and rushed upstairs. Allison went over to check on Vanya.
"Did you know?" Vanya asked her.
Allison swallowed. "No."
Diego looked up and heard a faint, familiar hum. "Shit. Mom!" he raced upstairs to check on her.
Seeing that the two Commission officers were gone, Karina slowly and painfully made her way back to Five's room. She shut the door and locked it, making sure the window was locked as well. With the katana hidden under the bed and within her reach, she groaned as she sat down, clutching her side.
"Five, what the hell have we gotten ourselves into?" she mumbled, staring at her ring blankly.
She sighed, knowing she wasn't going to get much sleep tonight.
