CANTO 6 PART 3 SPOILERS
Im beyond pissed, tumblr crashed in the middle of me doing this so this is going to be so much shorter than I want it to be. NON RYOSHU RELATED POST ABOUT THE HEATHCLIFF. DON'T TAKE WHAT I SAY AS FACT I AM NOT QUALIFIED FOR THIS. LOOK AT THE LINKS I CITE FOR MORE INFORMATION! You can click them when their mentioned. Im not citing in the proper format. This was done on 5 hours of sleep, two eggs, and a box of banana milk.
youtube
The Erlkonig or Erlking is this figure in German Mythology who kidnapps children. When he touches you, he kills you. This poem made by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe then adapted to this song is what you see. Erlkoning Heathcliff is trying to intice Heathcliff to die by telling him that it's his fault Cathy is dead. All identities refer to the sinner as "child" when you look into their uptie stories. Mili and the singer of the video here use the same technique of changing the tone and pitch of their voice to differntiate two characters.
The Wild Hunt is a part of Norse Mythology where Odin, mounted on his sixed legged horse Sleipnir, goes through the forest. According to norse-mythology.org, anyone who gets caught up in The Wild Hunt, spotted or seen, gets carried away. Your soul will get incorporated into The Wild Hunt. We all know Erlking Heathcliff did, the rising of the bodies. The Wild Hunt is also mostly describe as having hounds, and who was a hound? Hindleys.
From the same website, on the page of Sleipnir reads,
Tumblr media
Also, the horse that heath rides on has a weird liney pattern on it's 4 legs that kind of look like that runestone. There's more connection here, I just don't want to type it again.
How did Project Moon mix two diffrent mythological ideas together? (Its not just two, they mixed so many more.) Meet human mistranslation and the progression of oral tradition and story telling throught time. I don't kno where to start. There was mistranslation poem when, according to ancient-origins.net Johann Gottfried Herder wrote a seperate ballad from the one I linked at the start called Erlkönigs Tochter.
The Anglo-Saxons were early German settlers. This is where things get messy because I have several more potential leaders of the Wild Hunt but here are two, King Herla and Herne The Hunter.
Herne The Hunter: Popularized by Shakespeare potentially from a play called The Merry Wives of Windsor. This man called Jacobb Grimm said that Hene The Hunter was related to Odin. Herne the hunter is this ghost. ( https://mythopedia.com/topics/herne-the-hunter ) Im trying to say there are other media that connect the Erlking to the Wild Hunt but its on Wikipedia so it makes it seem fishy. Another Link Here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
King Herla: A british king who attended a dwarf wedding. When he left the wedding, the world had changed. Unbeknowst to him, 300 years had passed and he was claimed to be missing. When his men tried to get off their horses, they turned into dust so they were stuck like that. Read it here, its short. Someone better and more credible than me summed the story up better than I did, historian Chrissy Senecal. Read right here. An additional link to cross refrence if you'd like. King Herla and Odin got conflated together when really, their diffrent people
I found this other website article about Wild Hunts which kind of brings me to the next thing, the Harlequinn. They weild clubs, their devils, the image of them is popularly joyful? Maybe goofy and lighthearted? Perhaps associated with cards? Matt, or Heathcliff's portrayal of Matt. Now, I'm looking at Wikipedia and I see this section.
Tumblr media
What do we have here? A mention of the Erlkönig, Dante's Inferno, masked, club weilding giant. Heathcliff's not giant but hes pretty tall, at least by my standards but whatever, im very short. DANTE'S INFERNO, Canto 11 and 12. What the fuck Project Moon, are you playing 5d chess?
Back on topic, Hellequin is the fairy king, and this figure pops up in German, French, Italian, and English folklore. I can't do proper research when all my search results are mixed with random junk and I'm becoming nutty. You will not normally be able to access this article without paying but here's the link anyways. Journal Article from this book on a section about horned deities made in 1922 speaks of a group of ghost riding, who are also huntsman.
Tumblr media
And also another mention of Dante's Inferno. The name, Herne The Hunter is mentioned again.
All and all, The link between The Erlkonig and The Wild Hunt isn't as wild and unexplainable as I originally thought. It's just so cool to see all these concepts intersect. There still so much to touch upon like the headless horseman refrence and the Dullahans, RYOSHU COMPARING THE WILD HUNT TO THE PARADE OF 100 SPIRTS, something along that line, I forgot the name. I'm just not the right person to yell about this but I will anyways. The writers mixed so many symbols of death into one character. Such a wild and nutty Canto. Thank you so much Project Moon.

Laurance and Garroth training, or when they first say eachother after the Irene dimension, or after Laurance came back from the nether (either the first time or the s3 time), or breakfast at the guard quarters
(Some ideas, idk)
I am so ill about them where do I even begin (branching off of these ideas below, may write one out)
Training is so fucking homoerotic, especially if they're in their kinda pissy phase where they don't quite know how to feel about each other yet. They'd be taunting each other and if either manages to nick the other mmmmmm they'd be pissed.
~~~
So upset about the irene dimension "reuniting". Laurance should have panicked thinking he was having another hallucination. He should have backed away from Aphmau (as Zane) and began to try and figure out what was actually in front of him and what was a hallucination because Garroth and Zane can't be back they just can't he should have BEEN there when Garroth came back. And then Garroth gets confused cuz Laurance looks terrified of him and he wonders what happened while he was away because look at Laurance. And he'd walk near him and call out to him and Laurance would shut his eyes and curse because what is happening right now it sounds just like Garroth it can't be, and Garroth touches his arm and Laurance realizes this is real, Garroth is here and he missed him coming back. He should have been there but he ran off and Garroth got back, somehow, without him. And aaaaaaugh stop me I'm gonna explode with this one
~~~
Laurance coming back from the nether the first time I've read sooo many times, I don't think I could do it better than what I've read. And after s3, well, I'm writing my own self-indulgent fic abt that, but it involves an OC pretty heavily so idk if I should post it.
~~~
Breakfast at the guard towers... in Mystreet Laurance is canonically an amazing cook and always cooked for Dante and Garroth so... I think his mcd counterpart is in a similar situation. I think he probably makes them breakfast in the morning "most important meal of the day!" And insists that the three residents of the guard tower need to bond, and Garroth rolls his eyes, but Dante is so onboard, looking up to both of them. Garroth probably refuses to eat whatever Laurance has made cuz its a waste of time and they have things to do. And Laurance is insistant that Garroth works too damn hard and deserves a little bit of eggs and bacon in the morning. So Laurance drags Garroth to the table and starts hand feeding him breakfast, and Garroth is like "I'm not your child I can feed myself" and Laurance tells him "when was the last time you sat down and ate a full meal then?" And Garroth says nothing he just takes the fork from Laurance and Dante is like "ummm okay then!" And then they kiss or smth idk this is sweet tho <3
Justin Ashfield
"Can't you seem I'm busy? This thing has malfunctioned twice and I need to focus. Go away, will ya?"
: ̗̀➛ Age: 16
: ̗̀➛ Gender: Male
: ̗̀➛ Pronouns: He/Him
: ̗̀➛ Abilties:
> Pyrokinesis
> Technoscience: knows everything about technology, cybernetics, and machines, even if he hasn't encountered them before.
Backstory
He was born in Brooklyn, New York. He lives in a decent sized townhouse with his mom, his younger sister (Annie), and his younger brother (Jacob). Growing up, he didn't really socialize with other kids, preferring to build things out of Legos or other random objects lying around.
His mom and kindergarten teacher grew concerned about his lack of verbal communication, assuming that he had some form of cognitive disorder, so his mom took him to a neuropsychologist. It was then that he was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. His mom was and still is very supportive and does the best she can to make him happy.
As he got older, he did learn to socialize more, and his fascination with machinery and building things grew more as well. He became well known around his area and at school as the person to go to if you needed something fixed. He was still reserved despite this and preferred to stick to his room tinkering with things rather than joining his peers at different places.
When he turned 10, he was attacked by a hellhound and greatly injured before managing to escape. He went to his mom and explained what happened. She took him to the ER under the pretense that he got attacked by a wild dog. After they got back, she explained everything: his father is Hephaestus, he's a demigod, and about the new world that he would have to adapt to.
As soon as the school term ended, his mother drove him to Camp Half-Blood. He was claimed pretty much as soon as he got there. He resides at camp during summers and goes back to his house in Brooklyn during winters. He takes normal classes when he can to maintain his education.
~ Chibi Justin
Personality
Like most children of Hephaestus, he prefers being around machines rather than people. He's often found in the workshop under Cabin 9. He's okay around crowds and doesn't appear nervous, but he always has something like a fidget toy or some small screws and scraps to mess around with in his hands on these occasions. When he really gets to know someone, he'll be more friendly toward them, but he isn't the best at maintaining relationships aside from with his family members and Dante.
He can be a bit rude sometimes, only because he often misunderstands things because, in his words: "People are really confusing, like onions. They have a lot of layers to their emotions. I'd rather stick to machines; once you hammer out all the kinks and glitches, they work however you want them to. They don't have emotions and only do what you want them to do."
Additional information
> He's still figuring out his sexuality, but he doesn't exactly know what label to put on it, so he refers to himself as queer.
> He's in a relationship with Dante Meadows (going on a year).
> He once set his kitchen at home on fire when trying to make eggs. He can't cook or bake whatsoever and has been banned from making anything unless he can microwave it.
> The scar on his face is from the hellhound attack. He actually doesn't think of that incident as a bad thing. He's glad it happened because he was able to discover his godly parentage and begin to hone his skills.
> Some of the Aphrodite kids were a bit jealous of him when they figured out he was dating Dante. He's not liked by a lot in that cabin.
> His ultimate goal is to make electronics safe to use for demigods without having to risk being attacked by monsters. Even though monsters can't get through the barrier around Camp Half-Blood, he still wants demigods to be able to use them outside of camp without having to worry about being attacked.
> He doesn't have a favorite food.
> He doesn't have a favorite animal.
Tumblr media
Lol, Dante and Justin bonded over their lack of understanding of complex human emotions, so they normally know how each other are feeling because they'll openly express it around each other.
Also— an oc without any form of trauma??? Minus the hellhound attack, but he isn't traumatized by that.
STEM Kids Shenanigans (Chapter 29)
Chapter 29: Acting Out
Melanie was much quieter recently. She looked like she had withdrawn into herself, refusing to even look at other people.
"I'm getting really worried about her," Layla said to Yujin.
"I know, she's never this quiet." Yujin's eyes were wide with worry. "What did Stephan do to her?"
"We'll have to talk to Angelo and Dante about this stuff. See if they've made anything that can help."
Angelo and Dante burst into the classroom arguing. "Do you have to be such a pansy?" Angelo snapped.
"Oh, you're one to talk, Mr Tough Guy!" Dante snapped.
"Boys, sit down," Mr Oluwatola said, pointing at their usual seats. Angelo and Dante reluctantly sat down next to each other.
"What the hell are you doing?" Yujin asked.
"It's all part of the plan," Angelo whispered. "We can't talk about it."
"This is so much fun!" Dante giggled.
"Stop giggling!" Angelo chided, although he was also giggling behind his hands about it.
"So you two have a weird plan going on. Fine. Me and Yujin will see if Melanie does anything weird," Layla said.
"What?" Yujin spluttered. "Are you sure, Layla? Melanie hates us."
"That's why we're doing it from a distance," Layla said. "We'll be fine."
(PAUSE)
During lunch hour, Yujin and Layla took a seat a few tables away from Melanie, conveniently watching from a blind spot. Melanie wasn't eating, and was instead looking around nervously. "What is going on with her?" Yujin asked.
"I don't know," Layla said. One of the things Melanie took out of her bag was a carton of eggs. "What is she even going to do with those eggs?"
They soon got to find out.
Eggs started flying at random students, who yelled in anger and started throwing food back. A food fight erupted, and Yujin and Layla had to run for it.
"What the hell was that?" Layla asked.
"Melanie was throwing eggs at people and started a giant food fight," Yujin said.
"Not that! I mean, I know that, but . . . why?" Layla pondered the teacher's pet sudden descent into rule-breaking. "What could make her so something as drastic as this?"
"Knowing Stephan, it's probably more like who?" Yujin said.
(PAUSE)
This was not the only thing Melanie ended up doing. Art class was also insane.
"Now, class, how did Jackson Pollock create his paintings?" Miss Powers asked.
"Giant paint splotches," Melanie said. "Like so." She took a tube of paint and squeezed it at Miss Powers. Blue paint squirted onto her orange dress and dripped downwards.
"Melanie!" Miss Powers gasped.
"And now for the rest of you twerps!" Melanie laughed maniacally as she picked up even more tubes of paint and threw them around. Kids screamed and ducked as the former teacher's pet let the paint splatter everywhere. It was on the walls, ceiling, other students, tables, everything.
"Melanie . . . get out!" Miss Powers yelled, before collapsing into sobs.
"Thank goodness," Melanie said, leaving the classroom with a hop in her step.
"I'll . . . go and get someone," Layla said, searching for a teacher. She caught sight of herself in a mirror and winced. Her favourite hijab was ruined. She'd have to get rid of it.
Even when she's not even trying to obey the rules, she's still getting me into trouble, Layla thought.
(PAUSE)
The news of the food fight and the paint pandemonium spread around the school like wildfire. Snitch Sainsbury, resident teacher's pet, started trouble? Unthinkable.
"She must have lost her mind!" Dante whispered.
"Or maybe it's because she snapped over the stress of losing her prefect position," Angelo said.
"I bet it's Stephan," Yujin said. "But we have no proof."
"I bet Dante and I could get proof," Angelo said.
"How are you going to do that?" Layla asked.
"We already have a plan," Dante grinned. The two boys had identical large grins on their faces.
"And for it to work, we have to fight each other," Angelo said.
Yujin's eyes widened. "How is that a good idea?"
"We can't say, it'll spoil the surprise," Angelo said. "But it'll be worth it."
"It had better be," Layla said.
Sooo turns out my buddy is a big fan of you too! And well I was- They were wondering. They were wondering about demon behaviour after your latest devil trigger post and. Well do you think that demons have a mating season where they are just mad horny all the time? And if you do do you have any headcanons for that? They need to know for scientific research and all that. If you don't feel comfortable with this ask or dont feel like writing it no pressure its alrighty <3 Anyway Thanks for sharing your amazing content. We absolutely adore your work x
Wow, tell your friend I said what’s up and thank you! 😎
I actually do have thoughts about this, so I’m going to dive in under a Read More again. Some of it is mildly NSFW – context, you know? – but I also have some world building thoughts that go in tandem. I apologize in advance for overthinking this.
I’m not a biologist, just some dude on the internet who likes to research and ruminate for fun, so take this with a grain of salt.
Here’s the way I look at the Demon Realm/Hell:
Demons aren’t a singular species in the way that humans are. There are different breeds and subtypes, all of them coming with varying biological needs. Like an animal kingdom.
So how does this relate to your question?
First, I want to point out that time is very different in the Demon Realm and that demons in general have longer lifespans than a human, so any sort of cycle they have would likely be spaced out. Although, I imagine creatures like the Empusas, for example, have much shorter lives.
I don’t believe there’s a mating season for every subtype. Some of the demons who lay eggs, perhaps, may have a sort of ritual that happens every so often. I’m thinking in a manner similar to bugs, or even birds to some degree, where they find a partner or multiple partners with the singular need to breed.
I don’t think this goes for all of them.
There are some who are more like humans in that they have free thought and mate for pleasure, not just necessity. Sparda and his line would fall here.
However, I do believe there would be some sort of cycle. Humans have them, whether we choose to act on them or not. And again, I think they would be fairly spaced out and not necessarily all-consuming. Our DMC men have their human sides to cool off anything ultra overwhelming.
THAT SAID.
Theoretically, I can absolutely see this “cycle” happening with a bit more emphasis on the get down. If we’re going by theological aspects of demons, we’re taught to believe demons are the antithesis of what would be considered holy. Dante’s Inferno suggests there are layers of Hell based on sins, which DMC did adopt to some degree, so I don’t think it would be too farfetched to assume demons in canon live by a similar rule.
Sin.
With entirely different sets of morals and a worldview beyond human scope, demons are designed to shake things up. Where these cycles in typical demons, even the higher ranking, can push them into fiery and uncontrollable lust, it’s been dulled in the DMC boys. (Dante and Vergil would experience it with a stronger build than Nero due to lineage.)
My headcanon is this:
The “cycle” – or a rush of hormones that are designed to push the body to copulation – happens in the guys once every couple of years. During this time, they are prone to bouts of aggression, adrenaline seeking, and overindulgence. A drive to be wild. To sin.
None of them are particularly privy to it because it doesn’t click on any feral animal brain inside of them necessarily, but they do have a week of being incredibly difficult to handle.
Dante has been known to cover himself in women and party for entire days. Vergil gets irritable and finds it hard to focus on anything but the burning in his skull. Nero picks fights and thinks he’s untouchable, purposely acting out or starting arguments just to deal some damage.
If they have an S/O in these instances, yes. Yes, they will absolutely be horny all the time and have stamina to spare. (Devil trigger gauge takes up the whole damn screen.) Seeking them out, coming on strong, crowding them against walls and telling them how good they look with a touch of delirium; like predators. Like hunters. Like demons.
And the sex during these times?
Mind-blowing.
If their S/O is persistent, they might notice the switch in their eyes. A glimmer of fire; of oranges and reds surrounding a serpentine pupil. And if they push, indulging that rattling lust that coils like dancing flames, they might even be able to witness a trigger.
His Mothers Day...
Tumblr media
Trigger Warning: toxic thoughts
You got out of bed and stretched, if you were correct it was the tenth of May.
Mothers day.
Vergil had slipped out earlier this morning, probably with Dante. You felt like leaving them be for today. It would most likely pull some strings for them.
You sat in bed for half an hour just staring at the ceiling for no reason, and then decided to get up for the day.
Upon reaching the kitchen you decided on toast with egg whites for yourself, maybe you’ll have some tea as well. You should probably hurry to the office since Dante and Vergil won’t be there and Lady and Trish are elsewhere. You wonder if Nero’s going to call. Maybe you should call Kyrie, would she think that‘d be weird? Would she think it’d be rude if you didn’t call? Maybe you should call...
You check your cell phone, no calls or texts. A frown settles itself on your face.
Quickly shaking it off you lock the door to your shared apartment you quickly made your way to Devil May Cry. You don’t feel like being at home today.
~~~
Opening the heavy door to the building a stench makes its way to assault your nose. How in the name of hell could it stink this much I was just here yesterday, you wonder incredulously. Flipping the light switch on your eyes zero in on the bastard who assaulted your nose. Fucking pizza, you glare the open box with a look of steel.
Sighing deeply after hanging your bag on the rack you got years ago. You turn around and tie your hair with a stature that screams determination.
Time to get to work
~~~
Vergil hears his brother sigh deeply as he lays the roses down gently on the ground. He sympathizes..even though he’ll never say it.
Such a beautiful day, he believes..she would have loved it.
She would have loved you too.
Similar to how he does.
He stepped back therefore giving Dante the space to let his flowers rest.
Standing there in comfortable silence, one not often untense with the twins.
Both taking their time to gather themselves before heading back, having spent half the day with their mother already.
~~~
You smack your hands together to get the dirt off as you open door to the back. Finally getting rid of that awful stench in the trash, pulling out your phone you check your messages and calls.
None missed.
Letting your face droop a little you wonder, what if he forgot?
What if he just thinks I’m a horrible mother?
What if I am a horrible mother?
What if I’m a horrible mother and he thinks so too?
You set yourself down on the couch and let your own toxic thoughts consume you.
I am a horrible mother.
You decide.
After all you couldn’t stop him from growing up alone...
Nor could you stop him from fighting his father...
Or his uncle..
I’m so useless..
A useless mother...
~~~
Nero steps off of the fairy and stretches his limbs, a yawn grabs his attention. “I don’t get why you wanted to come” he tells his partner in crime, “didn’t you say that you had to pick up the cake by 3” she tells him. Wanting to avoid the real reason why she wanted to tag along. “Did you tell her we were comin’” she asks shaking off the lag of being stuck in one place for too long.
Why couldn’t they bring the van again?
“Why couldn’t we bring the van again” Nico asked, finally feeling limber. “Cause she would of recognized it and I don't know for sure if she’s at the shop or not. And no I didn’t call her, it’s supposed to be a surprise remember” he reasons with her. Nero you’re a fucking idiot, Nico deadpans inwardly “So you didn’t call your mom on Mother’s Day and you didn’t tell her we were coming. You don’t think she has any other plans” she says striking a pose as if to say ‘are-you-stupid-or-some-shit’. “Don’t gimme that look and Dante said that she didn’t have any plans” that he knew about, Nero also left out the fact that he had talked to Vergil for this.  “You got the card right” Nico feels like she has to double check since Nero can be forgetful sometimes, kind of like you. “Got it” he confirms  holding up a pretty pastel blue card picked out by him and Kyrie. Well mostly Kyrie. “Let’s get going we’re supposed to meet Dante” he says as he already starts walking ahead of Nico.
~~~
“Why are we at the library” Dante asks his brother. Vergil doesn't answer it was already embarrassing enough having to pick up a gift for you with Dante of all people.
He should’ve picked it up yesterday.
He takes a glance at the clock it’s already 2pm. His eyes narrow, he wants this to go by faster.
Its Mothers Day, the mother of his child should not be alone.
“Thank you for waiting” the overly enthusiastic cashier said to Vergil, who had remained impassive. He silently completed his purchase, usually he would just read it in some corner, not at all interacting with people as he preferred. Doing this was mildly out of his comfort zone, but you were worth it.
~~~
You let out a breath taking a look around, finally starting to look like the way I left it, you believe. After putting the mop and broom back in the small closet you went to check your phone, having little faith.
Nico (1 Message)
Your eyebrows scrunched together in confusion, why would Nico be texting you? Opening your cellphone regardless you checked her message.
Nico: Where r u right now?
Y/n: Dmc
Y/n: ???
You answered her, maybe she’s in town and needed something, you brushed it off and went to grab the book you had in your bag so you could sit your ass down and read. You’re almost done with it and there’s supposed to be a second book, maybe if you’re lucky you could get your hands on it.
~~~
Nico sped ahead of Nero so that she could get the door for him, mostly because she doesn’t want anything to happen to your cake. She stepped to the side when she heard her phone bing. Good you texted her back!
Nero looked at her with an annoyed look plastered on his face. “Nico” his tone of voice sounded so irritated, who can blame him he’s trying to balance a cake in his hands.
Children, he can do.
Swords, no problem.
Cakes, Huston we have a problem.
“Right, sorry. She said she’s at DMC” Nico relayed the message while opening the door for him. “Got it, take the phone out of my pocket and call Dante” call Dante cause it’s still too awkward to talk to Vergil. “Which one, you have like 30” she exaggerates, “Just” he moves his arms to while trying to keep the cake leveled “here take this” he says as Nico takes the cake. Reaching into his pocket for the cheap flip phone he presses numerous buttons to call his uncle “Yeah, she’s at dmc. No we’ll meet you there” Nico hates listening to half conversations, it’s always so confusing. “See you later” she said not wanting to intrude on his family time. “Yeah” Nero said preoccupied with the cake.
~~~
“You guys, got everything” Dante asks, they all met up at the end of the block to make sure you couldn’t see or hear them. “Yeah, s’in there” Nero motioned to the plastic bag in his uncles hand. “Booze, can’t be a party without booze” he explained. “Did you call her at all today” Dante asked while they made their way down the block and towards the office. “Why does everybody keep asking me that” Nero wondered aloud as they approached the steps.
~~~
You hear the door creek open and without looking up from your book you say just loud enough for whoever came in to hear “we’re closed”. “Hey sis”, well that’s not a customer, you look up and are immediately surprised with who entered. “Hi” you drawl out sounding just as confused as you felt “welcome back” you say still confused. “Close your eyes” Dante says,
???
“what” you ask, looking at your lover.
Who has come to stand behind you, “gotta surprise for you” Dante lets on. You’re still confused but you oblige anyway “no peeking” he says as you close your eyes and fee Vergil's hands come to cover them, just to make sure.
You heard the door open you started to open your eyes but then willed them to stay closed.
Nero set the cake down on the pool table and slowly but carefully took the cake out of its boxing. He silently made his way over to where Vergil had his hands over your eyes.
Vergil slowly lifted his hands off of your eyes so that you could see...your son.
First you saw the smiling face of your son and then you saw a cake?
“Happy Mothers day” they all said in unison. Your gaze softened..and your eyes glossed over. You didn’t realize it then but this is your first Mothers Day with all of them together.
“Mom are you crying?!?!”
“No!!!”
~~~
An hour later while Dante and Vergil play pool albeit a bit freakily since apparently Dante can’t count.
You and Nero sat on the couch watching them. You with a calm yet loving gaze to the men in front of you. “Mom” his voice softer than normal, maybe it’s the booze or maybe it’s the fact that this is his first Mothers Day with booth of his parents. “Yeah” you answer to taking your eyes off of Dante and Vergil.
“Happy Mothers Day” he says, voice as light as a feather, right after that you feel a weight on your shoulder.
A happy Mothers Day indeed.
Leon and dante stuck at home taking care of the kids and thinking chris won't be back form his mission for awhile but they don't know he comes home early and wants to surprise them?!🥺💕
(Not really a surprise, but this will be apart of a future project later, so don’t want to give away too much)
“Reddie!” Dante called to the little baby/demon hybrid that sat on top of Chris’s files, “You stop that right this instance, you little bastard!”
Said hybrid was no bigger than a water bottle, just like the other triplets. “Reddie” had a human baby face and chest, but from the chest down, the little baby was covered in red and black scales. He had claws, a tail and little bat looking wings and red horns. Little beady reddish brown orbs watched his “Mama”, leaning down and ripping at another piece of paper on his “Papa’s” desk with sharp little teeth. There were also little shreds of ripped paper in the little tuft of white hair on his head.
“No!” Dante scolded, going to the little demon, but Reddie was just a hair faster, little wings lifting him and zooming past his mother.
“Get back here!” Dante called, chasing after him.
It had been almost a year since Dante had moved in with his mates, having come out and telling them that he had actually been an Omega, instead of an Alpha like his older twin brother. But Leon and Chris didn’t care, Leon having already known and Chris being accepting of him no matter what. And then one thing led to another, Leon having already been pregnant when Chris and Leon mated with Dante and Dante ended up pregnant with Chris’s baby, er, babies.
Well...that’s when Dante found out that he was not like other Omegas. Granted, he knew he was not like other Omegas, because, y’know, Half-Demon and all, but he was sort of expecting to be able to have a baby the “normal human way”. Not the “laying eggs like a goddamn chicken” sort of way. Thanks to his devil anatomy, he didn’t produce babies like normal Omegas. He had nested like normal, but then laid eggs.
And what hatched had been three little part demon part human hybrids. Dante wasn’t good with names, so he had just named after their colors: Reddie and Greenie, who for some reason had wings, and then the runt of the litter, Blue, who for some reason didn’t have his wings yet. He had to be carried around, but mostly let Leon do that, riding on the younger Omega’s pregnant belly or his shoulder.
Currently, Dante had brought the babies home from a day at the orphanage with Patty and the kids, but two out of his three little hellions weren’t happy at all that Chris wasn’t home. Reddie and Greenie, of course the two flyers, were in the process of creating chaos because “Papa” wasn’t home.
Dante chased Reddie out of Chris and Leon’s shared office space, Reddie carrying a document, for something that was probably important, in his mouth as he flew. Greenie had Chris’s shirt, having made a little nest out of it and lying on a cushion next to Leon, who sat on the couch feeding the lazy little baby on his belly goldfish crackers. Blue happily chewed on the little orange crackers, carefully taking them from Leon’s fingers with his own little clawed hands before eating them.
“Dante?” Leon asked as he looked up at his mate, “Did you need help with…?”
“Nope!” Dante said, jumping and trying to get the paper from the little demon, Reddie pulling it out of his Mama’s reach, “I got this! You tamed those two, I should be able to tame this one.”
Leon chuckled and shook his head, “Are you sure? You got to let them know who the Alpha is.”
“But Chris is on an assignment!” Dante protested.
“Not what I meant!” Leon reiterated, “You’re their mother. You gotta read the babies, figure out their needs and be stern with them. Negotiate.”
Dante turned back to Reddie, who fluttered above him with the paper in his mouth, muffled chirps leaving the little one as he swayed in front of him. He could negotiate, but Chris wasn’t going to be back until tomorrow. Out of curiosity, Dante experimentally reached out with his right hand Reddie ducked to the left side, making a sound that didn’t sound mad or distressed. He sounded...happy. It was a happy chirp sound. The little tail moved much like that of a very happy dog, wagging as he fluttered in front of Dante.
He was playing and thought Dante wanted to play too.
Dante chuckled, turning away from the little one and pretending to be disinterested in their game. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Reddie move closer, moving until he was in sight once more, flicking the paper at Dante. With lightning reflexes, he gently grabbed Reddie himself, kissing the little belly and nuzzling his little head, dislodging the now drooly paper from the baby demon’s mouth.
Dante looked over the report before turning to Leon, cradling Reddie to his chest as the little one cooed up at him, “Does Chris still need that report on New York and Glenn Arias?”
Leon shook his head, “Filed that a while ago. Why?”
Dante showed Leon the torn and wet piece of paper. Leon’s eyes widened in surprise, but he couldn’t help but chuckle. He said that Chris might have a few stern words with Reddie, but he would probably find the whole thing amusing. Even more so when he would find out just what caused their chaotic behavior.
The older Omega nodded, rocking the little one in his arms and watching Reddie doze off. Dante jokingly said that he would probably kick Chris’s ass for being away from home for so long, making his companion laugh once more. Leon asked if that would be before or after he had angry sex with Chris. Dante blushed lightly, giving a small smile, asking Leon what he thought would happen.
“I already have an idea.” Leon said, gently picking up Blue and putting him in the nest next to his brother, Dante coming over and doing the same with Reddie, sitting on the other side of the cushion.
“They’re so adorable.” Leon cooed, “Even with the scales and all that.”
“I know...they can be a bit of little heathens at times,” he said, tucking them in with the blanket on the back of the couch, “...but I wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world…”
Leon laid his head on Dante’s shoulder as they watched over the little baby demons. It wasn’t long until they themselves got tired, taking Blue, Greenie and Reddie to their little nursery before Dante and Leon went to their own room. Leon and Dante snuggled close, discussing when they thought Chris might come home and how he might be doing.
“...how do you do it?” Dante asked suddenly, rubbing Leon’s back.
Leon looked up at Dante, “What?”
“The whole, bioterrorism thing? Like, I can fight demons because I’m part demon myself,” Dante began, trying to figure out the right thing to say, “But you two...you fight things that are almost as strong as the demons I go up against...and you two are only...well, I worry about you two a lot.”
Leon breathed in a deep breath, hugging Dante back, “We just do. I don’t know how half the time...but things just work out in the end.”
“But not without sacrifice…” Dante recalled, remembering what Leon and Chris were like right after they came back from New York, having lost a lot of innocent lives, “...But I won’t let you go through that alone. You or Chris. I’m gonna make sure you two don’t get all dark on me and I’ll do whatever it takes. I promise.”
Leon smiled, nuzzling Dante’s shoulder, “I know you will.”
________________________
Chris came home the next morning to a clean house and the smell of pancakes and bacon. He had barely had time to set down his bags when Reddie and Greenie rushed him, flying full speed at the man while chirping loudly in excitement.
Chris chuckled, gently holding them in his hands and kissing their little heads, “Hi, boys. Holding down the fort and taking care of Leon and Dante while I was gone?” He asked with a smile.
Reddie and Greenie chirped loudly up at him, jumping up and down happily in his hands. He heard chirping from the kitchen, smiling and greeting Blue, who carried around a plastic fork like a pitchfork while standing on the table. Chris chuckled at the sight, the little blue demon was seemingly guarding the plate of bacon and sausages.
“Hi, Bud.” Chris greeted Blue as Blue hopped over to him, kissing the little one’s head, “Helping Mama and Ma with breakfast?”
“Kind of,” Dante chuckled, kissing Chris, “He’s been keeping Red and Greenie away from the bacon and sausage with his trusty fork.”
“I had to give him a plastic one because Dante gave him a metal one originally.” Leon explained, setting down a plate of pancakes and eggs, “Morning, Honey.” Leon added, kissing Chris too.
“So, how was Louisiana?” Dante asked, setting down a bowl of fruit, patting Leon’s side gently and telling him to sit and eat, “If something happened...we can skip over the bad parts until you’re ready.”
Chris gave a small smile as Dante joined them at the table, “Let’s just say, I’m glad to be home with my family.”
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 3 (2020)
**SPOILERS**
Ok, I have already completed the season, but I'm still gonna break it down episode by episode and give my thoughts during in retrospect. If you have not seen Parts 1 or 2, I recommend you start there.
Chapter 21: The Hellbound Heart
So, Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) is trying to get Nick Scratch (Gavin Leatherwood) back out of hell and separated from Lucifer (Luke Cook). If you had forgotten, during part 2 Sabrina found out that Lucifer Morningstar was her biological father, and they trapped Lucifer inside of Nick. She enlists Roz (Jaz Sinclair), Harvey (Ross Lynch), and Theo (Lachlan Watson) to help. Besides the fact that their all besties, I have no idea what help Harvey or Theo would be. Theo is at least loyal and listens to reason. Harvey just goes off all the time. Roz is the most useful with her "cunning." Anyway. Before they figure out how to get to Hell, Mrs. Wardwell (Michelle Gomez) comes back to Baxter High with a new obsession with Dante's Inferno. But she's not possessed by Lilith (Michelle Gomez) anymore; Lilith is too busy defending her title as Queen of Hell. Also, props to Michelle Gomez. She flawlessly played two very different characters this season. Meanwhile, Zelda (Miranda Otto) and Hilda (Lucy Davis) are trying to save the coven because their powers are all fading. They aren't sure what to do with the remaining students or what to tell them. All of their powers are a gift from Lucifer, but he's not really in the position (or the mood) to be giving them any powers. Down in New Orleans, Ambrose (Chance Perdomo) and Prudence (Tati Gabrielle) are on their mission to find her father. When they come up short, they turn to Voodoo Priestess Mambo Marie (Skye P. Marshall) to help them with a different kind of magic. Dorian Gray (Jedidiah Goodacre -that is quite a name-) helps Sabrina and friends to get into Hell as long as they bring him a magic flower. They go in without any real plan, as you do. Seriously. Not even a map. Wtf. Luckily, they walked into the Shores of Sorrow and met Caliban (Sam Corlett), who told them to follow the river of blood because "all blood leads to Pandemonium." That's the capitol city of Hell I guess? They have lots of fun on the way, and when they get there, Lilith says that Sabrina has to deal with the Kings of Hell for her, but Lucifer tells Sabrina that she has to take the throne for herself. It has to be a Morningstar. Well, she does, but the Kings aren't convinced. Then our friend Caliban shows up again, naming himself Prince of Hell, and challenging Sabrina for the throne. It is worth noting that Caliban is ridiculously hot. And generally shirtless. Sabrina accepts the throne to get Nick out of Hell. Which is problematic for a lot of reasons, but most of all that she decides to do this BEFORE separating him from Lucifer. So she's just gonna keep Nick/Lucifer tied up in the dungeon until she finds another flesh acheron to hold Lucifer. What could go wrong?
I really expected it to take longer for Sabrina to get to Nick, but considering the very twisted maze part 3 went down, getting to Pandemonium is pretty minor. Also, Sabrina's whole "I'ma do what I want and not tell my aunts so they don't stop me" is getting old.
Chapter 22: Drag Me to Hell
This one is a little less convoluted. Sabrina finds out that one of her duties as Queen is to drag souls to Hell. Specifically souls who have made a deal with the devil. We can infer from this that the only people who go to Hell are those who have sold their soul, so it would be far easier to not go there than some people in the real world would have me believe. The first soul, a cute old man who wanted to be chess Grand Champion, Sabrina decided to show mercy and sent him to heaven. Didn't go over super well with the Kings of Hell. Also, Sabrina is now a cheerleader at Baxter High. They call themselves the Ravenettes. There's a dance team from my high school called the Raiderettes, so that confused me for a sec. Lots more singing pop songs then actual cheers though. Reminds me of the Jailhouse Rock scene in Riverdale. I digress. Zelda has decided to reopen the academy and that she and Hilda were going to teach. Hilda was more voluntold. Agatha (Adeline Rudolph) doesn't really respond well. Prudence and Ambrose discover that Father Blackwood (Richard Coyle) is in Loch Ness, which is apparently super magical and can bend time and space? Idk, but I was highly disappointed that we didn't see Nessie. They see him at the very end of the episode looking like Mr. Bean at the end of the live action Scooby-Doo movie. They take him back to Greendale and use him to hold Lucifer so Nick can be free. Because what the world needs is Blackwood and Lucifer together. Back to Brina. Her second soul to collect (apparently this is a daily task for the ruler of Hell but she only does these two so there's a plot hole) is the ice cream man, Jimmy Platt (Matty Finochio). He tells her that he would like to extend his contract again by eating the heart of an innocent child. Sabrina confronts Lucifer about this later, apparently it didn't have to be a child, just an innocent soul. Adult virgins, beware. Sabrina tells Jimmy no (obvi) but Jimmy has already hidden the kid. So now she has to find this kid and collect his soul before the end of the day or there will be a coup in Hell. Sabrina wisely decides on just Roz to help her with this one. Roz is also the one who warns Sabrina against transporting herself into a freezer with no more information, but as per usual Sabrina goes anyway. Jimmy put warding sigils on the walls, so she's stuck and powerless. Luckily, Lilith knows what the fuck she's doing (as opposed to Sabrina who only thinks she does) and saves Sabrina. Sabrina takes Jimmy to Hell, but nobody is impressed. Caliban officially challenges her to find the unholy regalia- the three most powerful infernal objects, starting with Herod's crown.
This is a pretty typical Sabrina episode- she's way in over her head, but she either doesn't realize it or won't admit it. I'm never quite sure, but it seems like she genuinely doesn't know. I also don't remember if it's this episode or the next, but Harvey is suddenly feeling under a lot of pressure to have sex with Roz. But it never shows Roz being pushy about it, so idk wtf is going on in Harvey's head (besides convincing himself he's over Sabrina).
Chapter 23: Heavy is the Crown
For this one, Sabrina enlists Ambrose to help her find the crown because Ambrose is the most well read warlock ever due to his permanent house arrest. It's in Riverdale. They use a special compass to find it in a maple tree that the Blossom's use for syrup. If you've seen Riverdale, this probably has more significance and is less surprising. They steal the crown (somehow without realizing zombie King Herod is still in the tree). Sabrina wants to destroy it, but Ambrose wants to tap into its power to help the coven. Unsurprisingly, this does not work out well for them initially because Herod follows the crown and would very much like it back. Zelda is failing at getting respect from the students at the academy, and there's weird Lucifer beetles crawling in ears and controlling people. In other news, a carnival came to town! Obviously this has something to do with the larger plot because otherwise it would be a side note. Harvey, Roz, Sabrina, Nick, and Theo are all going together. Theo wants to invite the new guy, Robin (Jonathan Whitesell), because Theo is crushing hard. Robin is nerdy cute, I guess. I did think it was cliche to give the queer guy green streaks in his hair though. Harvey says tells Theo to invite him as part of the group, which Theo does, and Robin agrees. They all go to the carnival: Roz, Sabrina, and Theo ignorantly happy, Harvey struggling with his masculinity, Nick struggling with his ordeal, and Robin just happy to be there. Roz "sees" the carnival ringmaster as a satyr (or a faun depending on your preference for Greek or Roman deities, but they do tend to prefer Greek in this show), but she decides she was imagining things. Mrs. Wardwell talks to the fortune teller Circe (Lucie Guest) to try to find out what happened to her during the three months that Lilith was using her "skin suit." She doesn't get any concrete answers because that's not how fortune tellers work, Mary. Harvey stumbles across a snake charmer dancer woman in a tent full of pervy dudes and is almost entranced. Hilda goes to the carnival with her bf Dr. C, who proposes. Idk why she needed to throw her cotton candy on the ground during that, but I'm also on a sugar detox, so... Prudence and Ambrose are cleaning up Blackwood's mess by putting a living doll spell on Judas and Judith to hide them and putting his weird time warping monster fish egg thing in a fish tank. Yeah. No Nessie, but a weird egg. It's fine, I'm not bitter. Back at the carnival, Sabrina and Nick get attacked by Herod (who stole his crown back from Ambrose but knows it was Sabrina stealing it initially). Ambrose saves them, but Caliban pops in, steals the crown, and wins the first round of the challenge. At the very end, we find out why the carnies are important: they're pagans who worship the old gods and trying to resurrect The Green Man to rid the world of flesh since the Satanic witches have all but lost their powers. There is more than one voodoo practitioner, idk why they're not considered more of a threat because they're much more independently magical. They need a virgin to complete the rebirth, and that's why Robin (dun dun dun) was hanging out at the high school. Our potential virgins are Theo, Harvey, and Mrs. Wardwell.
I chose not to believe that Robin was actually bad because I want Theo to be happy. I chose to believe that even if he was using Theo, Robin was just trying to take his virginity to prevent him from being the sacrifice. Also, Sabrina is basically trying to force Nick to be normal even though she compared his symptoms to PTSD. Girl stop. He needs a sec.
Chapter 24: The Hare Moon
Zelda and Hilda have decided that the coven needs to celebrate the hare moon for the coming of spring to bolster good will. Sabrina isn't enthused (maybe because it requires her singing a song of summer into the forest to release a rabbit). Lilith tells Sabrina that they need celestial power to restore their strength, so she goes to Dorian, who has an angel trapped in one of his paintings (as all art collectors do). Sabrina drains some blood from the angel for her coven, but leaves in the process because she hears some screaming. Then she stumbles upon Nick and some sex demons doing BDSM. She's less than thrilled, especially since Nick low-key blames her for it. And Dorian has drank 90% of the angel blood, but they can't take anymore with killing him. So Hilda suggests using the little blood to make an oil mixture and take a moon bath under the hare moon (rub oils all over your skin and lie outside under the full moon) to absorb the celestial energy from the moon. During the daytime ceremony, they meet the pagans. Things don't go well. Zelda makes a bunch of petty insults, Hilda pisses off Circe, and Nick kills me the snake that bit Dorcas (Abigail Cowen). Circe puts a curse on Hilda to become a spider, and
But if you close your eyes, does it almost feel like nothing changed at all? (1/?)
Tumblr media
Asra lost his parents too early in his life (even though it's always too early to lose your parents), he was a child, a little kid. And albeit I know Asra was a smart and capable boy, he still heavily relied emotionally on them. Like everyone does at that age.
So he finds himself alone, scared, and wondering what happened. Where are his parents? When are they coming back? Why did they leave? He knows his parents love him, and they would never abandon him. But that doesn't change the fact that he's alone, with no one to care for him, and nobody will come to save him.
He sleeps in every corner he can find, the beach, a little frequented alley, anywhere remotely safe, really. Alone and fending for himself for three years. So you can't tell me he didn't cry himself to sleep most of those nights when he did get any sleep. Remembering the voice of his mother, teaching him riddles, with a voice full of warmth and mirth and love. And his father showing him how he paints a tarot deck, the very same tarot deck he learned with, and everything was soft touches, gentle hands and laughter guiding him. And it's all gone.
He only has the Magician now, however he's not a parental figure at all. He's patient, yes, and gentle to a fault, but also aloof and reserved. If he does something right, be it learning a new spell or reading the cards better each time, there are no hugs, no kisses. Only an eerie smile and a slight nod.
But then he finds Muriel, and he's not alone. He has a friend, a good one at that, and they stick together like glue. They go everywhere with the other, quite literally attached to the hip. They confide in each other, care for the other, so he's not on his own. But Muriel doesn't show love the same way he does. He doesn't hug him, or ruffle his hair.
No, Muriel cares for him in other ways. Intead, he brings him food and make sure he eats, he protects him from some of the less friendly kids, he looks for safe places to sleep. He cares for him the best he can and Asra knows. And he's grateful— what Muriel does is more than enough. He cares for Muriel too. He teaches him magic, heals any cut or bruise he may have, he looks for clothes that will fit him, always checks twice before leaving a place to see if he leaves his cloak behind on accident.
And then he makes another friend. He saw them once in the market. They were walking around, looking at every stall, and stopping to chat amiably with the sellers. He sees them pass by the bakery and talk with the owner. He sees them leave laughing, with pumpkin bread in the basket.
And suddenly, they see him too, and they're smiling at him, and oh god they are coming closer. But they are friendly, and beautiful, and they smell so good and what is he thinking? They say they're Y/N and then there's a pause. Asra realizes he's supposed to say his name a second too late and his whole face burns, but they just smile and he stutters an “My na–name's Asra”, while still blushing furiously.
Yet their little bubble is popped when a woman in their late forties waves her hand and calls Y/N, and he feels his heart drop when they say “Sorry, that's my aunt, I have to leave”. He nods sadly, and they smile apologetically at him. “I hope I'll get to see you again, Asra”, they say and kiss his cheek, forcing his heart to come back up to his chest at dizzying speed, so he can only nod one more time. “Here,” they hand him the whole loaf and as he's about to protest they are already running towards their aunt. He watches them leave with a smile.
He sees them many times after that, and they become friends. They even meet Muriel a couple of times, and even though he's quiet and guarded, they also become friends and thanks them for the bread (And other things like pastries they bring him and Asra). They take walks in the market, at the docks, until one time they invite him to their aunt's shop. The both of them welcome him with open arms, and it's like a slap to the face to Asra.
This is their home. They live here. It's also a shop, yes, but it's so homely, so familiar, and it feels so intimate he's devastated for a second, but Y/N and Wisteria (the aunt) are smiling warmly and hugging him, and he's so overwhelmed that he grins from ear to ear and follows them around like a puppy, taking everything in, as much as he can at once. He's surprised to find out they're both magicians, Y/N being Wisteria's apprentice.
He leaves that day with a full belly, a basket overflowing with food Y/N prepared for Muriel, and three books about runes and charms that Asra knows Muriel will devour in a day. He knows he's whipped for them, he's sure, and he won't beat around the bush. So the next time he sees them, he plans to confess. But things don't always go according to plan.
Wisteria leaves Vesuvia on a trip, and Y/N is in charge of the shop, so they can't meet him half as much as they'd both like. It's always stolen moments between customers and errands; they get a bit anxious and both Asra and Muriel try to help them. So they stay in the shop, Asra is in charge of serving customers and Muriel gets thing from high selves and the small storeroom while you deliver some things. You just look at them from the doorway and marvel at how much you love them both. Asra gets used to having you close embarrassingly fast.
Wisteria finally comes back and finds you three eating together, laughing and happy, and she can't help but think that these boys don't deserve what happened to them. So she makes an offer, and lays it out for them. “There's a house in the woods, outside the city, it belonged to me and my partner Dante, but since she left I never used it”, she smiles, sadly “I want you both to have it, it's yours if you want it”. And you just want to jump in her arms and thank her a million times, because, finally, your boys are getting what they deserve. But Wisteria is not finished. “I'll only ask one thing in return, but first... Y/N, could you please leave us alone, dear?”, you open your mouth to complain, but one look at her and you excuse yourself. “What is it?” Muriel asks, and she turns to look at them, and smiles. “Take care of them, please. They're strong, and they can take care of themselves, but good friends are rare and scarce. Stay with them”. They're living in the cabin that same night.
Asra's surprised to meet you a week later, looking rather troubled. But he has no time to question you, as he finds your lips on his the moment he's beside you. He closes his eyes and responds with a passion, hands on your hair while you knead his shirt in your hands. He does his best not to whimper into your mouth, but his yearning for more, more, more, seems to break his will. And that choked noise seems to break your trance, so you step back. “I'm so sorry! I don't know what came over me! I just– You are–!” But he's kissing you again, and your chests are touching, and his hands are gripping your waist, and he smells oh, my God, so good and how can his hair be this soft? It's nearly too much, but neither of you are breaking apart.
Then, you two just stand there, foreheads touching and embracing each other. Until, “Oh, right”, and they're dragging him to the magic shop, where a little snake egg is nestled between cotton balls. “My aunt brought it with her from her trip, and put a heat spell over it”, Asra marvels at the soft, pastel purple colored egg, then he looks at you. “Since you told me your parents familiars are snakes... I thought maybe...” He knows you don't want to upset him, so you never bring up the topic around him, and he's grateful for that. So he looks at you, smiles, and says: “If I knew you would give me a present, I would have gotten you something as well”, and you're all smiles and blushes when you respond: “A kiss would do, i think”, and he kisses you once, twice... Many times.
And from then on, things change for Asra. He's not on his own, he's surrounded by love, and warmth, and people that he loves and loves him back. He has nightmares about his parents still, but now when he wakes up sweating with tears in his eyes, he has a roof over his head, and Muriel gives him a glass of water with a hand that's not bony or shaky anymore. And he feels everything settling into place slowly. He finds comfort in the little hut, but he knows he belongs with you.
Everytime you go around their home and bring gifts with you (be it pie, bread, books, sometimes even pretty flowers you pick on the way and that they set in a little vase over the hearth to humor you), he just puts the basket aside and kisses you, with his hands around your body and fighting back a smile. He seems to never get enough, and while he always checks for consent, it's a never ending display of affection. Not that anyone's complaining. Well, maybe Muriel, but that's because he catches you two making out in the bed! He sleeps there, you heathens! But when he gets dragged into a cuddle session with both of you cooing at him apologizing, he never complains again. (He totally did from time to time but you didn't hear it from me). And, alas, you notice Asra's shortage before he does.
He never let the fact sink in until you thread your finger though his white hair while reading to him one afternoon. When you're both laying in the grass under a huge tree, it's imposing height giving you a wide, cool shade. He has his head in your lap, and he's humming softly, basking in the clean smell of your clothes and the peaceful way you breath, but he realizes he is not listening to you at all. Oh, no, he was not. He was too preoccupied with feeling your fingers playing in his hair, your nails occasionally raking carefully along his scalp, the fleeting caress of your hand in his neck and shoulders... This simple touch is enough to overwhelm him, and it makes him sob into the peaceful air. And you know what's happening, of course, because you always feel like he's half of you, so you set the book aside and console him. He swears he fell in love with you deeper then, which he thought impossible. You swear you would never let him be lonely ever again.
Asra travels a lot, and explores all of Vesuvia. But he runs out of new places fast and yearns to go further, and yet he stays. He stays, and everyday you see him grow a little dimmer. You stand there watching him lose that light that seems to always shine bright around him, and start to grow a feeling of dread in the pit of your stomach. Asra's wanderlust has always been there, and now he's trying to drown it, and you know why. So you tell him. You tell him that wherever he choses to go, no matter how remote that place may be, he'll always know the way back home, he'll never be lost. He will always have you and Muriel to come back to. You hug him with a new-found strength, and you don't say goodbye. You don't need to. He also doesn't register the thick necklace with a blue crystal attached to it, twin to the one you have, that you laced around his neck, until he's far from home and missing you, feeling it radiate your magic like a heartbeat.
You always visit Muriel while he's away, partly because you don't want him to be alone, partly because you miss Asra a lot, and you both spend time together. He's non-verbal at times, so you just bask in the strong, calm aura he has about him and read while he shapes a piece of wood into intricate forms. He seems to find you peaceful, and at these times you find that you really do love the gentle giant. You know not to visit him too much though, seeing as he's taciturn, and too much interaction tires him out. You cut back your visits to one a week. Muriel is surprised to find himself waiting for you with a discreet smile. And he's also always more than willing to learn anything new you teach him.
Asra always comes back with tales that fill you with fascination, and leaves you admiring him with eyes full of stars. You also get to meet Faust, and she's so cute when she tastes the air around you, boops your nose and declares: “Friend!”. You just had to fall in love with the purple noodle. After a couple more travels on his own, he takes you with him. he just couldn't resist, and you find out about Asra's small house in Nopal. You relish in the details in the tiny space— the painting of constellations on the ceiling, the handmade wood figurines adorning some selves, some books you gave him. When you finally turn back, Asra's shawl is laying on a chair, with his bag on top, and he is barefoot. His shirt is almost completely undone, and oh, stars, he's glowing.
He just looks at you, but there isn’t a coy smile on his face, there is no knowing look on his eyes, as if he can read you like an open book, there is no confidence in the way he's standing there. He looks like an ethereal being, looking at you with searing intensity, unmoving and transfixed. “What is it?”, you mutter, and that seems to break him out from his trance. “Nothing... Nothing”, he's still staring, “You just look so... Beautiful, it's– it's... Unreal”. You come closer to him, a smug strut to your step, and caress his face with your fingertips. “I can show you how real I am, if you let me”, and he's taking your hand, kissing the palm, and closing his eyes as he says, “Show me how real you are, and I'll return the favor”. And he's back to the Asra you know by the time he's between your thighs. Such a shame that bliss didn't last forever.
Upon your return, you find the city drowned in panic. Apparently, there's a pandemic causing deaths by the hundreds. And there's no sign of a cure. The first thing you both do is find Muriel and Wisteria, Asra is relieved to find his friend healthy, both eyes clear and overall in good condition. You are not so lucky. Wisteria is sick, and very much so. Her eyes' scleras are red, and alarmingly bloodshot. The skin around the lids so sore it looks utterly raw. She is nothing but pale, and her veins are black and prominent under the paper thin skin of her body. She is dying, and the red plague is taking away her sanity. You are not sure is she recognizes you or not. But she's taking your hand into hers and mumbles something incoherently. A mantra of pain and exhaustion. And with that she closes her eyes, and a quiet stillness take over her. Cold, sweaty hands holding yours in a vice-line grip, and no goodbye.
You stay there, mouth clossed and tears falling, until Asra finds you. He takes one look at what's in front of him and starts to silently weep, both arms around you, rocking you back and forth. Then you let that strangled scream through. And he lets you. Wisteria is cremated, you see masked people take her away to the Lazaret. Muriel tells you all about it. How she fell sick a week after you left. How quick it deteriorated. How she forbade him of visiting her out of fear of him falling sick, too.
Apparently, your aunt wasn't the only victim. Nearly all your neighbourhood is being depleted. The kids you always saw playing around being carried away, dead and rotting, by men resembling death itself is not a vision you never saw coming. But, once again, a new problem arises.
Asra wants to leave. He wants to leave Vesuvia, and it's damned red plague, behind. He doesn't want to fall ill, and die in less than a week. And so, he tells you he wants you to come with him. Protection charms, spells, runes and the like can only do so much for you. For both of you. But you don't want to leave. That's how the fight ensues, with both of you looking at the other like they've lost their mind. Asra is not raising his voice, his eyes are cold, and you know he's scared, terrified even, but also furious. And so are you. You didn't think it would escalate so, so fast. “Are you really going to abandon them, Asra? This is your home too”, you are desperate, trying to make him understand. “No, it's not. This city's a graveyard, nothing more. We have to leave or we'll die”, you know he's right, but he sounds so... Cruel. Detached. “No”, and he's looking at you, mouth agape. “What?” “I said no. I'm staying. Do whatever you want. I am not leaving this people to die. I want to help”. For a fleeting moment, his eyes fill with emotions, looking like he's about to cry. But he doesn't. Instead he says, voice dripping with venom— “Good. Stay here, and fall sick. Die with them, I don't care. If you're too stupid to save yourself, it won't be me who does it for you”. He's gone the next morning.
You go to check on Muriel, and are surprised to find him there. He's perplexed. “This is my home, nothing will make me leave it”. You tell him what you're going to do, what your plans are. And he only nods and grunts. “You might die, you know”. It's your turn to nod. “Maybe, but I can't just sit while everyone dies... I can't run away”, he doesn't flinch at your jab, but you do. It's not his fault that Asra acted that way, but saying it out loud breaks your heart a bit more. “I'm...”, he's looking at you with a face that you've grown so accustomed to, so kind, and gentle, and familiar. With his imposing height, and capable hands, his heart of gold. Even his wooden figurines and obsession with those chickens. And you know you're doing the right thing, even if it does end up with you dead. “I'm going to do my best, Muriel”. That time, he's the one to hug you goodbye. The first time.
Heartbreak is honestly merciless, but you don't have time to take pity on yourself. You have a city to help. You're learning under a doctor, as a helping hand, a nurse of some sorts, actually. Glad you are not learning under Valdemar's sinister smile, the lanky doctor is actually kind of nice. If not dorky and childish, but he's good at what he does, and he's patient and soft-spoked with you when he's either teaching you or correcting you. He does have a strange fascination with leeches though. But he treats his patients with care, and the corpses with respect, before their moved to the Lazaret. Some of the other doctors are a bit more... Morbid, in their interest on the subject.
Asra never contacts you again, not even when you try to reach him using the necklaces. You only feel you're own magic and coldness. He never answers back. You wonder if he's gotten rid of it. That brings tears to your eyes. And that's how doctor 069 finds you. In his office, teary-eyed, and a little blue flame in your hand, enveloping the azure crystal. “You're a magician?”, you know doctors are skeptical of magic, but you can't lie now. “Yes...”, and you expect him to get rid of your help, but he doesn't. “Why are you not helping people with magic, then?”, he sounds genuinely intrigued, so you answer with the truth. “This”, you show him your hand, burning blue, “can only do so much”. He's closer now, inspecting the flame curiously. “And it certainly didn't do anything for my aunt”, with that, the fire dies out. He's looking at you like he understands, like he believes you. And you're crying again, and you're hugging him even when you know you should not. But he's embracing you awkwardly with those long arms of his and he doesn't say a word.
Nothing Julian does is working, and he's getting anxious. People keep dying by the minute and it seems unstoppable. He doesn't take care of himself at all. He never takes his eyes off that damn diary. You force him to eat, to sleep, even to take baths, and it isn't enough either. So you start spending more time with him, take on more responsibilities, to take some of the weight off his shoulders. He's thankful. And so he starts to trust you more. He opens up, slowly, and he takes more of your ideas into consideration. The blank margins of said diary start to fill with little illegible notes, your name in most of them— «YN thinks this, YN thinks that, I'll test YN's idea...» it's quite endearing, actually.
Unfortunately, all actions have consequences. One morning, while putting your work attire, the world seems to move under your feet, and next thing you know your head hits the floor, knocking you out cold. When you wake up, you're straped to one of the operatory tables in the dungeons, the ones the doctors had to prepare for the masses of sick people. Valdemar is looking at you behind their plague mask, a excited glint on those otherwise dead eyes, and when you look around you only see another doctor. It's Julian, you just know. You say his name, and he clenches his fists tight. Quaestor Valdemar answers instead. “You seem to have fallen ill...” They seem to try and remember your name, when they don't, their hands fold neatly in front of them, not really minding. “Doctor 069 has volunteered to treat you himself”. With that, they're gone.
Julian doesn't say a word, starting to take utensils out of a black, worn-out leather bag, and putting them in a little side table by your head. Each steel piece clean and glinting dangerously in the dim light. You say his name, weakly, and he doesn't look at you. You try again and he stops mid-movement, hand trembling lightly. “Is it...?”, lowering his hand, he waits for you to continue. “Is it the red plague?”. The way the mask's beak bobs up and down when he nods could be almost comical. But your eyes burn and there are tears rolling down your temples and you can't even rub them off. He does it for you.
From that moment, Julian moves his office beside you, and works tirelessly. But now you don't have the strenght to nag him to do anything. You can see his sunken eyes, the darkest bags under them, nose protuding from his face even more now, all of it under the mask, in your mind's eye. He's a mess really, and that's something coming from someone infected with a deadly desease. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, you hear him whimper apologies into thin air, head bowed. But you hallucinate from time to time, so you can't be sure.
Blood tests, those are the worst, even more so than the leeches. It feels like it torns your skin apart, and you don't think you can stand it anymore. Your mind is foggy and you can't see much, you can't even feel shame when Julian undresses you, cleans your naked body with warm, soapy water and dresses you back up. “I'm sorry”, you say breaking the silence, and it cuts the thick atmosphere like a red hot knife. He turns to look at you, startled. “I'm sorry I can't be of use”, not even sure if he can hear you, or if you're making any sense, “I'm dying and I won’t help anyone, I thought... At least...” Your face burns, «Am I crying?», you think, you didn't really believe your body had anything more to give. Julian's silent, so you make an effort and go on. “At least, I thought my body would help find a cure...”, your mouth feels dry, lips hurting, tongue abnormally heavy. “But I'll die, and I'm absolutely useless.” You think you hear a sob coming from somewhere, but you feel your eyes rolling to the back of your skull, blacking out.
You never really come back to your senses after that, feverish dreams start meddling with reality and you are too far gone to try and tell them apart. You only hang on for one reason. To attemp to contact Asra one last time. So you focus all of the power you can muster into the necklace, which you begged julian not to take off, and listen. Nothing. One more time. Nothing, again. Desperation grows within you. Is it not working? Please, please, please... But your magic finds nothing, only a deep, dark void of nothingness welcomes you. Not sunlight, and gold, and gaiety. Asra's magic is not on the other side. You decide to just let go.
When Julian notices he doesn't hear your uneven breathing anymore, he panics and looks at you, but it's too late. What really shocks him to the core, what would be engraved into his mind for as long as his mind was untouched... would be the sad, broken smile on you face, unbothered by the death rattles taking over your chest. He runs to hold you down, fingers digging painfully on your belly, shoulder, thorax, tears fogging his vision. “No...! No, no!”, but he can't stop it, and you're getting cold already. He sees you moving your mouth, but it isn't until your lips are still and your body lax, that he understands. “Goodbye”.
Your body is put in a boat an hour later and Julian is there to see it off. The town's people look at him in either fear or resigned sorrow, and maybe even pity, too. When the boat takes off to the Lazaret, he stays there even when it's out of sight. He contemplates the island, with it's black column of smoke, like a channel where souls go, to never come back. So he imagines a flight of stairs, leading up, up, past the smoke, the fire, and the ashes. Higher than the clouds, and the stars. Somewhere safe, without pain, with nothing to fear. Far from this curse. When he turns to leave, he finds the docks are deserted. The air silent and solemn like that of a cemetery. How appropriate.
Hey, fantastic job with your metas! I don't know if you've already posted a thorough article on what you expect or think IX will be, but I'd love to read what you have to say about the probable storyline you think is going to happen; personally, I'm having a hard time believing the Reylo arc can be completed in just another movie, let alone the arcs of the three trilogies; what would be left for the next trilogy they're already working on? What do you think? Tks again!
Dear Anon,
thank you for being so encouraging, it is always nice to hear! And thanks for the ask. It took me a little while to answer you (sorry about that) because I was wondering what I could really tell you. I usually try to avoid speculations because, well, I would not say it is my forte, I am not the best at making bets… And, honestly, there is a lot of stuff that could go whatever… BUT…. There are some things I think we can count on, and some things we may expect. And some others (not necessarily groundbreaking) that we could also see them explore or hint at, when looking at the material they have given us so far. Again, I will not bet on anything…Disclaimer, guys!
What we can count on:
Ben’s redemption (yep), last Skywalker standing, guys…. This is my final world, and I have no doubt about that.
More Force bonds. Because they are awesome!
Reylo as endgame. So…Reylo kiss/ Reylo sex (don’t expect porn, you guys, a lot of great fanfic readers are very kindly providing that)… Probably off screen then (but a girl can dream on something tactful and romantic, the kids will be watching so obviously…)
TFA was Kylo and Rey fighting each other… TLJ is them fighting together. Episode IX should be them fighting for each other… You can’t convince me otherwise.
The MF… It has been key in the ST… Home… Bringing Ben home, or Rey and Ben leaving together at the end. Or Ben piloting the Falcon to do something important…
New saber for Rey… duh
A coup by Hux. Obviously. Rabid cur anyone? Division among the First Order.
Brace yourself: death of our heroes. One or the two of them. Litteral death of one of them, but the other resurrects it through love and use of the Force. Or symbolic death of one or the two of them, through imagery or suspense (we think they are dead but they are not). This is classic myth/fairy tale. It has to happen for them to complete their growth and journey. There is no other way around it. But it can happen many different ways… Don’t fret. I am expecting them to be alive and well at the end.
Balance of the Force… see the quotation from Journal of the Whills: grey Jedi.
Overarching theme for the saga and ST: “you win by saving what you love, not killing what you hate”/ Fairy tale morale/ Dante’s Divine Comedy… Need I say more?
What we can logically expect (as a continuation, or because they have hinted at it, or because that is what they do)
Porgs!!!! Anything with eggs, nesting… too many aviary and bird references in the ST movies and novelizations to overlook
Maz Kenata.. playing some part… or just a cameo. Or finally delivering some answer or advice…
Battles… with ships… in space. And on land… LOL
Leia’s death and/or funeral… Except if they recast her, but oh well… Han’s funeral was in the novelization for TLJ. We need a funeral anyways in the last installment. Padmé in the PT, Vader in the OT… We are bound to get a funeral in the ST. Leia seems like the logical choice. Multiple possibilities: fairly early on, and then you have Kylo trying to show up or sharing with Rey after it and it can play a part in bringing them together. Or at the end, and it is the funeral that brings the galaxy together and it helps everyone mourn their lost and loved ones. Padmé’s was the funeral that marked the end of unity, Leia’s could be the one that brings everyone together. With Rey and Kylo together behind the coffin, or putting a torch to the pyre, hand in hand, as chief mourners.
Division in the Resistance? As a parallel to the First Order’s inner divisions? Would seem logical. I could see Poe struggle as a leader. Or Rey not being comfortable with everything about the Resistance, especially when it comes to Kylo. Rey still needs to figure out where she belongs… She belongs with Kylo. So, she might have issues finding her place in the Resistance. Just as he will not be happy with the First Order as seen by Hux.
Stormtrooper rising. They have focused more on the extra material about the human face of the Empire. See Claudia Gray’s Lost Stars, and the Junior novelization of TFA. Deleted scene of TLJ. Yes, Finn might not just be a bug in the system, it may be the first sign of more to come. Along with the division within the First Order, there may be stormtroopers rebelling and deciding between Kylo and Hux. Plus it gives Finn the chance to shine bright as the one who reaches out to dissident stormtroopers.
Tumblr media
Use of the Jedi texts: they can’t have been stolen for no reason.
More FinnRose.
Kylo as good leader/benevolent emperor.
A Force ghost. I wonder if we will get a ROTJ type of ending with all our ghosts gently beaming… Or if they will just pop in to comment Rey and/or Kylo’s actions. We had them in the OT obviously. Not so much in the PT where Qui-Gon could have made an appearance/apparition… It is actually weird he didn’t but maybe Liam Neeson was not interested, who knows?
Tumblr media
The ending should be on a lush planet. To symbolize rebirth, renewal, fertility, and the return to Paradise. And as a counterpoint to the ending of PT on Mustafar/Hell.
We might have the return of other known systems, Naboo or Mustafar, but I would really love to see Chandrila featured. It has been heavily featured in the extra material for the ST: in Last Shot, Leia Princess of Alderaan, and Aftermath series. We have seen Jakku, Rey’s birthplace, it would be logical and expected to see Chandrila, birthplace of Kylo. Also, don’t you think it eerily looks like Earth?
Tumblr media
A nod to Padmé is overdue. Poor Padmé. Her part was already butchered in the PT. She is vaguely alluded to in the OT… It would be nice to see her somewhere in the ST. Extra material has been alluding and hinting at her…
Someone finding about Rey and Kylo’s force bond and special relationship and being shocked. I am imagining Rose or Finn. Either they keep her secret but call her out on it. Or they betray her secret, for her own good as they see it, and that prompts Rey to dramatically choose to defend Kylo. I have a head canon on BB8 playing a part in all that (catching them during a meeting and playing the holo of their tryst, for example… LOL)
Tumblr media
Something that I desperately want to see but am unsure of… the overdue “I’ll come back for you sweetheart, I promise”, that is SO overdue and that is so important in the novelization of the movies, especially in the TLJ Junior version. I think I will pass out from excitement if I finally hear Kylo utter that line (which I deeply believe in).
Tumblr media
THAT scene from Rey’s Force vision in TFA. Because, WTF, JJ, you started that now you finish it!
Tumblr media
So possibly the elusive Knights of Ren?
Ok, I am sure I am forgetting some stuff. But, this is my piece for now. I hope that answers your questions. Please let me know your thoughts… Sorry it took so long! As for your question about completing it in one movie, well… @taule was telling me that she had heard people speculating they might make more… I would love it, of course, but they did say that ix was supposed to wrap up and tie in the whole Skywalker saga… Do not worry anyways,  because you can count on books, novels, comics, and animation to keep Kylo, Rey, and all their buddies alive and well for quite a while. I am predicting LOTS, TONS OF Kylo’s stuff once they are done with ix and can finally stop pretending about the redemption and survival of their character.
@raven-maiden, @toawaterfowl, @lightaroundthecorner My elves accepted to finally open one letter and get their act together to answer an anon that has been nice all year! LOL
