how to clip (redneck ash atthebell edition aka not the most efficient necessarily)

my best methods for clipping & posting to tumblr

tl;dr use clipr for downloading clips from twitch, other methods vary by mileage

Clip on Twitch & Download using Clipr

IMO, this is the best method for posting clips. Twitch clips don't always display properly on Firefox, and it also means that if the clip ceases to exist on Twitch for whatever reason, it's still uploaded to Tumblr. You can also guarantee the quality you're downloading in, which is usually 1080p unless the streamer has for some reason lowered their stream quality (happens by accident sometimes).

Downsides: 1) You have to be able to download the clip to your computer, and doesn't work on mobile. Well, it could, but it would be way more difficult and I don't know why you would do that to yourself. 2) If the moment you want to clip is longer than 60 seconds, you have to use another method. Twitch only lets you clip something that long. I bemoan this fact every day.

Screen capture on your computer

The pros of this method are that you aren't limited to 60 seconds, and if you're trying to clip something from a YouTube video, it's easier than trying to download a YouTube clip (have never been able to successfully do this myself) or downloading the entire video and then editing it down to the moment you want to clip.

The cons are that you have to make sure you're not screen capturing sensitive shit from your own computer, and you have to turn off all other audio and make sure your volume levels & video quality are at appropriate levels (aka don't have your volume super low, don't have the video on 480p if possible). If you're clipping off YouTube, you have to deal with having the channel's watermark in the corner, but otherwise it's great for when you want to just clip something from Twitch but it's longer than 60 seconds.

How to do this (on Windows):

Remember to put your computer on DND (Discord as well) and put the video on highest quality and decent volume levels. Press Windows key + G (if that's your configuration) and select "Start Recording" on the capture window. Remember to give time for the scrub bar and shit from YouTube or Twitch (or whatever) to go away, so go back a little bit before where you want the clip to start. Record until you've got what you want, then open it in whatever video editing software pleases you. You can find the recording in Captures on your computer (usually in some folder chain in Users) or by just pressing Windows key + G again, it'll let you open the recording in file location. I use Microsoft Clipchamp to edit because Windows Media Player crashes my computer and I'm not going to pay for nice editing software rn. Anyway, edit out the bits with you moving your mouse around and the video player UI and get it to whatever length you like. Save or redownload to your computer, upload to Tumblr.

Downloading off Twitter

Use twittervideodownloader or twdown. Copy the video address from the video and paste it, then download in whatever quality you'd like. Please attribute said clips, particularly if they went through the trouble of adding subtitles or you're using their translation (or just to let people know where they came from-- i.e. is this from a cc's own IG story, or is it a random fan recording them; the latter means you maybe shouldn't be reposting this video). Translation itself is often a thankless project so it's very appreciated to acknowledge translators. Also if someone else went through the trouble of clipping something, it's just nice to acknowledge them for it. Preferably include a link to the original tweet. This method is best for just needing stuff off Twitter, for IG stories that someone else already screen captured, or if the only clip you can find is on Twitter and the original vod/video is gone for whatever reason.

Extra fun tips:

If you are a frequent clipper, get in the habit of naming your files! If you're keeping them all on your computer, for organization's sake, it will save you SO much time and energy if you just have names on your files. It doesn't have to be anything crazy formal; for example, my format is just "oct 12 cellbit scared by sign tts;" date followed by a very short description.

Similar to the above, it also helps to include some amount of context to clips when you're posting them, particularly if you're not liveblogging. Sometimes people rb clips onto my dash and start freaking out about some kind of lore going on and it's like dude this clip is from two months ago, calm down. Please turn on timestamps also for the love of fuck.

You can download videos straight off Tumblr! If someone else already posted a clip you like and want to have on your computer, you can download it off the dash or off their blog and just have it, no extension or screen capture or website needed. One of the very cool things about this website!

Related, if you really want to find a clip that you know was already posted to Tumblr by someone else, use people's archives. They're also one of the actually functional parts of this website. You can filter by post type, month, and tags, which can usually get you closer to finding what you're looking for than searching will.

RoyalArchivist tends to post and reblog a lot of clips, so they're a good resource alongside myself, pix pixiecaps, and jay cellgatinbo, all of whom clip like maniacs. I also just reblog a lot of things and have a pretty extensive tagging system. RA also has a timestamp archive for QSMP with notes about lore and things-- please check that out if you're interested in helping document events or looking to find a certain moment.

MCYT Archive Project has public vods spreadsheets for QSMP as well as other MCYT projects that are incredibly extensive, so if you're looking for a moment and you remember the date, you should be able to find the vod on the sheet. You can also use the vod archives in junction with wiki articles to figure out exactly or approximately when something happened (the QSMP Miraheze wiki includes citations in their articles, which is a massive help for this kind of thing).

Finally, I am a lunatic who figured this all out through trial and error. There are probably other, somewhat more efficient methods, like I said at the start. If you know of any, please (politely) add onto the post.

comparison and analysis on eve and mark's colors

i know this miggght be me overthinking but i really need to get it out of my system ahahajshajsha

Pink is definitely Eve's signature color, it's the main color of her costume yet somehow you don't see that in her casual attire. As for Mark, no doubt his signature color is blue (even yellow can be included), and that's obvious in both his costume and his casual attire.

this post contains pics from season 1 and the atom eve special, putting a cut here cause this is lowkey long so,,,, oops-

Eve wore pink a LOT when she was a kid, it's in her every outfit throughout all the time skips in the special. When a character has a signature color, it's something that's reflected in (nearly all of) their outfit/s.

So where did the pink go on Eve's casual attire on season 1? Where did she even got the idea of wearing yellow of all colors when it's so far from her favorite color? There's red that when you mix it with white, it gives you pink. So she could have had a red top and white pants in her current casual attire, but that's not the case.

We got our answer on who she got the idea of wearing yellow from in the Atom Eve special: it was from Betsy.

There's a key thing that I noticed from the shade of yellow Betsy wore and what Eve is currently wearing. Betsy's yellow seemed happier. It was more vibrant.

Comparing Betsy's yellow to Eve, Eve's yellow is lighter. It's dull. As if it was drained of its vibrancy. And with what we saw of Eve's past in the special, it checks out that she must've have become so, so tired of so many things.

In animated series, yellow is often associated with warm, happy, and energetic characters. But when it comes to cinematography, yellow represents other things. From the link, I think cowardice is the symbolism of Betsy's yellow - due to her fear of Eve not being "normal" and her inability to accept Eve as she is. And @mandareeboo even pointed out Betsy telling Eve to "try harder" which leads to the symbolism of yellow that I associate with Eve: insecurity. There is no bigger source of insecurity than having your own parent say that to you, especially at a young age when a lot of things feel they're scary and overwhelming that you need a parent to guide you through it but instead they just tell you to repress yourself.

It's no wonder that Eve's yellow looked pale in comparison to past Betsy's yellow, pretending for years must have been exhauasting.

(Before anyone comment that Zak could be the reason Eve wore yellow instead of Betsy, I have an explanation I'm going to be giving later so please bear with me on this one hahahsdfjahsfda)

Now on to Mark!!

In the Atom Eve special, Debbie wore no shades of either blue or green. In fact, her top's color leans more to give a nod to Nolan's signature color (red). That, and their family pictures from season 1 showed that aside from Debbie, there was a time that Mark wore red too.

Compared to Eve and Betsy, I find it so fascinating that the opposite applies for Mark and Debbie.

We can see that kid Mark's shorts and top are currently the colors of Debbie's top and pants.

It was a nice switch to see the mom's colors reflecting her child. You often see the kid copying the color of their parent/s. This doesn't necessarily mean Debbie copied Mark, as a mom, this is her way of commemorating her son.

The two stripes on Mark is a brighter shade of aquamarine while Debbie's top is a darker shade of Caribbean green, and both colors are near to each other in the color spectrum. Which is definitely something we can describe their relationship: they are close to each other.

I always thought that the stripes across Mark's chest was sort of a subtle design thing to show that he keeps his mom, who represents his humanity, close to his heart. Seeing that Debbie got her colors from kid Mark adds a whole new layer to it.

This is the part where I compare the then & the now:

The reason why I mentioned Eve would never have picked up yellow with Zak in mind was that he was just a temporary figure in her life. Eve used to wear pink so much before, it was her favorite - so one can assume that the color itself brought her joy. You see Betsy wearing pink (this is the episode Eve left "home"). So my reasoning for Betsy wearing this color was to appease Eve, while Eve wore yellow to represent her trying to please her mom.

For Debbie and Mark, it was crucial for Debbie to wear the colors Mark wore as a kid. Throughout the series, we see how desperate Mark wanted to be like Nolan, to be good with his powers so he can be a good hero. One would think that Mark would have incorporated red in his outfit, but he didn't. What stood in the place of red in Mark's outfits was yellow, a color that's close to red in the rainbow arrangement. Using the same link for the meanings of the color yellow in cinematography from earlier, Mark's yellow symbolizes two things: naivety and idealization.

See how Mark has a yellow button-up underneath his sweater? It's his naivety about his father, it's not all out there yet it's on all the ends of his sweater as if making sure you know that the yellow is something that should be seen. And Mark's yellow I in his costume? That's idealization. In his eyes, Omni-Man is (probably, I can't speak for Mark 100%) the best hero. He idolizes his dad, there was never a doubt about it. He has put Nolan in such a high standard that there was more yellow in his costume to represent his idealization rather than his own signature blue.

That's why it's so important that Debbie wore his colors from the Atom Eve special in season 1. That Mark sees that on his mom. It was a reminder of kid Mark. That even then, he was just as precious. That he mattered even wayyyy before he had powers. That he mattered because of his humanity.

Back to topic of colors!! It's obvious at this point how relevant both Mark and Eve's moms are when it comes to their colors. So it leaves me with two remaining things about Mark and Eve: (1) the color red on Mark on his casual outfit and (2) the color pink on Eve on her casual outfit

The only moments we saw red on Mark that isn't blood is when he wore his bag. Now I know this is a pretty small thing but that bag could literally be ANY other color - and it isn't, it's specifically red. It could have been white to match his shoes or black to match his hair but it's neither of that. It's red. It's Nolan.

I think it's really important to know the relevance of that red bag, especially in those two pictures. (1) The moment Todd was harassing Amber and Mark wanted to intervene, it's totally obvious that Mark carries the heavy fact that at the moment, he's powerless unlike his dad. And it sucks. Cause he's his father's son and even though he carries his blood, at the time, he doesn't carry Nolan's powers. It doesn't stop him from defending Amber, but it still hurts bothliterally from Todd's hits and emotionally. Mark's carrying the feeling of inadequacy cause he has no idea how to defend himself in this situation, his dad never taught him how to fight because he didn't have powers.

(2) The second picture was Mark rushing to school because his training with his dad made him late for class. He got powers now, and it's literally dragging him from his education (among other things and that's including his relationship with Amber). His power of flight, no matter how fast it is, doesn't get him to places on time. Even when he got his powers, he still had problems. They actually piled up now.

Now as for Eve, sure her casual attire doesn't have any pink on it but her bags are pink!! (1) The first picture of her was when she and Mark met at school. During my first watch, I found it cute that she held on to the straps cause it's a little habit of mine when I wear backpacks. Then at the (2) other picture where she had her luggage out so she can run away from "home", I noticed they're pink too. And it's a small observation but compared to Mark that just lets his bag hang down, Eve holds on to her bags.

The bags are both pink, and pink is her color. It's not a piece or part of her, it's her. Pink has been something she deprived herself to wear but it's something she still wants to keep, even if it's just with bags. It's the thing she's comfortable to carry, it's something she wants to hold in her hands.

I know bags are a practical item for any student to have and I overthought a lot about their bags' colors but yeah hahasdfjasdfha I'm done with that now

The season 2 poster showed that Debbie has a new outfit. As for Mark and Eve, they're both wearing their hero costumes.

Slight spoilers from the comics: When Nolan left, there was a time that Mark began to dress himself in a style similar to Nolan (I can't tag op for some reason :(().

I feel there's a big chance Mark and Eve will also have new casual attires this coming second season.

Mark is likely to dress similar to Nolan just like in the comics. He will definitely have questions about his identity now that he knew the truth about Nolan, so I think Mark won't be able to wear his usual colors to show that he's figuring things out.

Mark could also wear that blue and black costume, the one that doesn't have the yellow anymore. Because he won't be idolizing his father's heroic persona anymore.

Mark, of course, misses his dad but he won't be looking up to him anymore after what happened.

As for Eve's season 2 casual look though, now that she has her own treehouse and starting to feel free from her parents, I hope she allows herself to incorporate pink in her clothing. She deserves it <33

Content warning: this post contains mentions of wolves hunting other animals, and some thoughts on the subject. Nothing I'd consider graphic, but I know it can be sensitive for some folks so I thought I'd warn beforehand!

Hhh, it's a bit hard to know where to start with getting back into writing about my experiences.

It's not that I don't have anything to say - it's the opposite! There's so much I'd like to share. I've always loved talking about my experiences... maybe a bit self-indulgent, but I like to think it can help other folks too, and I've gotten many interesting conversations out of it in the past, so no regrets!

Can't imagine I'll be posting big things like this frequently, but I'll happily answer questions and chat too. ^u^

So... right now, what I've decided I'd like to write about is some of the, I guess kinda fundamental aspects of my identity as a wolf therian.

It's interesting in a way, because there are so many wolves around - there's a lot of people to compare experiences against! I guess, if you have a rare kintype, or a kintype that's varied enough that your individual variation of it is rare (like dragons) - it might be hard to imagine that a wolf would struggle to find other people they relate to. But then, well: there's me.

I don't think anyone's nonhuman experiences are wrong. I don't think anyones' are "superior" either; it's just about who you are as an individual, what feels right and comfortable to you. I just wanted to get that across! Cause what I'd like to talk about does involve some comparison between my feelings and the things I've seen expressed by other wolf therians, and I wouldn't want it to be read as me saying my way of being as any better than anyone elses' (it's not).

During my time in the kin and therian communities (which, I first encountered over ten years ago now, but my activity has been very on-and-off since I reached adulthood) I've met so, so many wolf therians. It's... hmm, complicated for me, in a way? Because I felt very isolated, especially when I was younger, and I felt like wolf therians were supposed to be "my people". But really, I could count on both hands how many wolves I've met that I really related to on any level.

And the reason for that is the same now as it's always been: for a lot of wolf therians, being a wolf seems to be a kind of violent, bloodthirsty identity. The "predator" feeling is strong; there's some affinity for the thrill of the kill, the violence of it all.

That's not a bad thing. It's not wrong! But my experience has been... very different from that.

My perception of wolfhood isn't really "red in tooth and claw" like that. It's more... simple. Not peaceful really - life as a wolf is full of trials and strife - but the violence never felt defining for me. In terms of personal importance, the feelings of wanting to hunt, to fight, to bite and maim... I'd be lying if I said they were entirely absent, but they were always tertiary to things that seemed far more present and central.

I think a big part of that is... well, for context, I believe my wolf identity is linked to a past life. Yeah, stereotypical, I know! But it's genuinely what I experience; I do remember that life, or at least aspects of it. And those memories influence a lot of my experiences in my current life as a wolf-person.

The thing that strikes me most when I compare my own perspective on wolfhood to the ideas often expressed by other wolf therians, is that to me, hunting wasn't violence. It couldn't be violence.

Why? Because I just plain didn't realise that the deer and other animals we killed were living things.

There was no... room to even consider that idea. I didn't know that the deer I drove to exhaustion felt pain and terror, same as I did. I just knew I was hungry and it was food.

It's a strange thing to consider, isn't it? People talk a lot about "what makes us human". I don't think there's any one thing that does. But if I were to point to one of the most jarring, and one of the most utterly sacred parts of being human to me, it would be the ability to connect emotionally with other species.

Humans are not unique for doing that. And maybe there's some animals a wolf could come to see as an individual, in the way I would've seen another wolf. But a deer would never be that. Which contrasts strangely with me, now, as a human: where I can love pigs, and care about their welfare and treatment, but still enjoy some bacon or a porkchop. That can conflict, sometimes, yeah - but from a wolf perspective, that would be incomprehensible. At least, from my experiences it would be.

And if you remove the idea of violence from hunting, suddenly a wolf's life doesn't seem very violent at all. The act of hunting and killing prey animals felt no more violent to me, than when I cook up a steak for myself now. To someone, that would be violent, but to me it's just a steak - y'know? I know the steak comes from a cow, but that fact brings me neither grief nor pleasure. It's just kinda how the world is and I'm mostly okay with that.

The act of hunting was, I'd say, something I enjoyed as a wolf. I loved the chase. It was fun. Taking down prey could be scary; even a deer is dangerous when cornered and desperate. But the thing with nature is that it makes what you have to do to survive feel desirable: so risking my life for a meal felt thrilling, in a way, and a full belly afterwards was satisfying, and comforting, and a relief from the usual gnaw of hunger.

Hunting's only a small part of being a wolf, though. Even setting aside all the attempted hunts that fall through before you even get into a full sprint.

A lot of wolf life focuses on territory. In some places, it's a very intense, almost war-like conflict; constant, bloody, often fatal. Not always, though. It depends a lot on the intensity of the ecosystem you live in: a place with lots of prey attracts lots of wolves, who then compete for access. If the prey's more spread out, the wolves are more spread out too... and an area of land feels less worth dying for when you've got so many others to search.

Me and my pack were one of the latter varieties. Territorial conflicts were rare, for us; I don't recall any specifically. We patrolled, we marked our space. Territorial disputes were something I was aware of, I think - if I saw a trespasser I certainly would've acted with aggression - but it just wasn't a common occurrence.

So my experience of being a wolf didn't feel like it was defined by violence much. It didn't feel bloody and raw. I could see myself in the image of a wolf that snarls, maybe, but moreso I see myself in the image of the wolf that sleeps, or - perhaps most of all - the wolf that wanders.

And that's what existence as a wolf was, and is for me! It's wandering. It is the neverending search. Even when you find what you need, the relief can't last long - you need to move on soon, you need to seek again soon, because it won't be long before your empty belly's gnawing at your insides again. It wasn't ever a life of violence, it was a life of travel, for the good and the bad of it: for the new sights and new smells and new opportunities; for the exhaustion, the uncertainty, the sore paws and aching muscles.

And the restlessness. The need to keep moving. Keep going. Keep searching, always searching.

But, of course, that's still not the centre piece of the puzzle. Because that could only ever, of course, be the pack.

This is something I'll probably dedicate time to writing about all on its own, because I have such deep feelings about "the pack" as a concept, and also about my pack, who I lived for in my last life.

But I will say that all of my deepest, most vivid, and most impactful memories... they're not of the hunt, they're not about territory or conflict or hunger. What I remember most richly is the love I felt for my pack. It's a feeling I can't quite find it in me to explain; sometimes I wonder if the reason I identify as loveless in this life, is simply because no love I've ever felt as a human could compare to what I felt as a wolf.

I think there's a kind of synergy between the simple mind of a wolf, and the feelings a wolf experiences: in the quiet of an animal's mind, emotions seem so much stronger, so much more vivid somehow. I feel that even now, when I have a mental shift, and the logic and reason falls away - all that's left is emotion and physical senses, and they paint a picture so, so bright.

And those past life memories that I hold dearest, they have a similar quality to them... to curl up with my family after a long day of travel. Or listen to their happy snores as we all sleep off a full belly. And playing with the pups... I was a very fun wolf-uncle. And those pups were my joy, light of my whole life! <3

So... yeah. That's what being a wolf is to me.

It's not the only way to be a wolf. It's not the "right" was vs anyone else's "wrong". This is just what wolfhood is to me personally. Maybe other wolves will see something of themselves in this, maybe not! Either way, I appreciate the time you took to read my rambling. It feels nice to carve out a place in my life again where I can really talk about this stuff. c:

Beta Editor Overview

After seeing quite a few posts expressing confusion/frustration over the beta editor, trying to understand new features and find where old options have moved to, I thought I'd write up an overview of the new editor, showing the various changes it has from legacy.

My main goal is to show people that the new editor not nearly as bad as they may have heard. You'll have a few days of weirdness and confusion, and then you'll be used to it. The beta editor does have some bugs... but so does the legacy editor. We've all just gotten used to legacy and know how to work around its quirks. After a couple weeks with beta, you'll be familiar with it and know how to do the same.

FAQ

I'm putting this part above the read more to quickly answer the questions I see asked most often.

How do I cut posts with the new editor? — You need to get an extension called XKit Rewritten and use Trim Reblogs. Once you have that installed, save the post to your drafts and click the scissors icon along the bottom of the post. This will open a window that allows you to remove earlier reblogs. If you run into funky issues, see my ginormous post here.

Where is blockquote? — Blockquote is now called indented. There are two ways to reach it. Option 1: select your text, open the dropdown menu, and choose indented. Option 2: type / on an empty line, select indented, and type your text.

Where is small text? — Select your text and click the small S in brackets. I recommend doing this at the end of writing your post, as it can be finicky otherwise. The old keyboard shortcut for small text does not work anymore; the new shortcut is CTRL/CMD + COMMA.

Where are bullets? — Select your text, open the dropdown menu, and choose bulleted list. You can also type / on an empty line and select/type bulleted list. Additionally, you can type * and a space on an empty line to autoformat to bullets, or use the keyboard shortcut CTRL/CMD + SHIFT + 8.

How do I disable reblogs on a post? — Click the settings icon in the top right, click the dropdown next to "Who can reblog?" and select "no one." (Please note that while it says those mentioned in a post can always reblog, I've found this to be broken. At the moment you should only disable reblogs if you don't want anyone reblogging it.)

Why does adding a gif to a post include the URL? — Inserting an image via link will automatically include that URL underneath the image in the final post (though it won't display in the editor). You can remove this by hovering over the image and clicking the chain link icon in the bottom left. Select the URL in the field there, delete it, and click Done.

How do I add alt text to an image? — Add your image, hover over it, click the three dots in the bottom right corner, and click "update image description."

Adding Elements

When you click on an empty line, options for things to add to your post will appear on the right, similar to legacy.

In order, these are:

Link

Audio

Video

All of these work almost exactly as they have previously, except for adding an image. Clicking that will give you this, which resembles a standalone photo post of the old format.

You can then upload directly from your computer, or paste a URL, as before. If you insert an image via URL, that link will be visible just below the image in your final post, though it won't show up like that in the editor. It'll look like this.

If you don't want this, make sure to click the link icon at the bottom left of the image and delete the URL there.

Back to the image you added in the text editor! Hovering over the image will give these options.

The squares icon in the top left lets you click and drag the image, and you can drag images next to each other to stack them horizontally. The X in the top right will remove the image from your post. The link icon in the bottom left shows the image URL, and will only appear if you inserted the image via link. And the dots in the bottom right allow you to add alt text to your image -- click the dots, then click Update image description.

Formatting Text

Now! If you type up some text and then select it, formatting options will pop up. This is similar to legacy, but now there's a dropdown menu.

Here's what's in the dropdown.

Here's what they all look like in a post.

Regular is plain text. Bigger is the equivalent of the headline option on the legacy editor. Biggest is the equivalent of the main title, but you can have more than one in a single post now.

Quote turns text into a serif font and increases the font size. If you type up a long quote, the font size will shrink.

Chat switches to a more computer-looking font.

Lucille increases the font size and is a cursive font.

Indented is blockquote. It looks a tiny bit different on the dash now, with some more spacing on the top and bottom, but it's functionally the same.

Bulleted and numbered lists are self-explanatory. You can also start a bulleted list by starting an empty line of regular text with * and a space, and a numbered line by starting an empty line with 1 and a space. Additionally, the keyboard shortcuts CTRL/CMD + SHIFT + 7 for numbered list and CTRL/CMD + SHIFT + 8 for bulleted list still work.

You can also access these same options (and some others) by typing a slash onto the start of an empty line. A menu will pop up, allowing you to either click the one you want or simply type the one you want and hit enter.

If you want to quickly add a title, an indented blockquote, or anything like that, this is the fastest way to do it.

Hopping back to the rest of these options now!

To the right of the drop down, these options are:

Italics

Small

Link

Color

Most of these are self-explanatory. Keyboard shortcuts for bold and italics work as before. The old keyboard shortcut for small text no longer works, but CTRL/CMD + COMMA does.

Link works the same as it always has, and the keyboard shortcut of CTRL/CMD + K works as well. Additionally, if you have text selected and just paste in a URL, it will insert as a hyperlink from that selected text.

Color lets you change the color of your text to a few presets. Just click the paint bucket, and pick the color you want.

Post Settings

Back out to the main editor now, here's what under the settings icon in the top right.

Custom URL lets you set a custom URL for your post, if you want it to be something other than a string of numbers.

Content source is the source link and works similarly to how it did in legacy.

Post date is not the scheduler! That's under the post button dropdown and is fairly straightforward. But this option lets you backdate a post, setting the date to sometime earlier than you actually made. Gonna be completely honest, I haven't used this at all and don't entirely see the point, but if you want to play around with it, there it is.

Who can reblog? Is one of my favorite features. Opening that dropdown lets you disable reblogs on your post. The reblog button will be grayed out on the dash. (After you've made the post, you can edit to turn reblogs back on if you need to.)

While this does say that anyone mentioned can always reblog, I've found this to be broken in my testing -- I have submitted a ticket to staff, so hopefully they're working on it. It would be a godsend for roleplayers, since it would restrict reblogs to only the partner that you @-mentioned in your starter and keep randos from reblogging your threads.

Lastly, the text editor lets you switch to HTML or Markdown for your post, if you prefer one of those. They are similar to how they worked in legacy.

Community Labels

Along the bottom of the editor, you'll see the close button, the post button with the same dropdown as in legacy, and another dropdown that reads Everyone by default. Here's what that one looks like.

This is where you can manage your community labels, which is a fairly new feature from Tumblr. By default, your post will be marked as being for everyone. However, if your post contains any of the content listed, you should click to toggle that one on. This will hide your post from anyone who has that label switched off in their settings.

To check what you have on or off in your settings, look for this underneath your filtered tags:

Tags

Tags work the same as before. The only notable difference is that you can now edit inside tags without having to completely delete them. Just click on the text where you want your cursor to be.

You can rearrange tags with click and drag as before. Just be sure to click on the blue space around the text, rather than on the text itself.

Autosaving

The beta editor will automatically save your posts! It's autosaving whenever you see this pop up at the bottom of your screen, every minute or so.

If the editor gets closed unexpectedly, the last autosave of your post will go into your drafts. As someone who's lost many replies to unexpected tab closures, this is a godsend.

Just know that this only works if something external closes the editor. If you click the close button yourself, the post will disappear.

Miscellaneous Differences

You can now have more than one main title (Biggest) in your post.

You can no longer have multiple levels of bullet points.

You can no longer have paragraph breaks within your blockquote/indented text (though it's been that way for a while). To get a similar look in your blockquote, hold down shift and press enter twice (or use <br><br> in your HTML).

Previewing a post on your blog is still possible, but in a different location. Go to a post in your drafts, click the three dots in the top right, and click preview.

The editor will still remember your tags, but capitalization will be removed, which might be an aesthetic annoyance.

The editor will only suggest tags that start with your search. For example, if your ask memes tag is send me stuff ( ask memes ) — typing "send me stuff" in the tags box will suggest this tag for you, while typing "ask memes" will not.

When making or reblogging a post, your most recently used sideblog will be up by default; this is different from the legacy editor, which would always open your primary blog. Be mindful of things going onto the correct blogs!

More items may be added here as I spot them. Feel free to send any observations of your own if you have them.

Known Glitches

Because the beta editor is still known to be buggy, I thought I'd document the glitches I am aware of. I have reported these to staff using their feedback option and highly recommend that you politely do the same if these annoy you.

I've heard from several people that using CTRL/CMD + Z to undo caused their entire post to be erased. This has not personally happened to me, but I've heard it enough times that I feel I should share it here.

Using CTRL/CMD + A to select your entire post can be finicky. Clicking and dragging across the entire post is more reliable.

Typing with small text can be finicky and won't always apply correctly. I highly recommend applying the small text after everything is written, just to save some headache.

Generally, text formatting and paragraph blocks can behave oddly, especially when trying to select more than one. This is also a problem I've had with the legacy editor, but my experiences are not universal, so it may be a hindrance to you.

Alright, so. Finn and Princess Bubblegum. Yeah, yeah. Hero and the princess, a story as old as time. We all know the princess in question is by no means into boys, as Patience put it.

So what happens when we look at their relationship from a purely professional standpoint? A lot!

So, let's start with some background information, at least in my view of the characters. I think personally, that it makes sense for PB to have known Finn for a while before season 1. I like to think that she actually helped Jake with raising him, as she probably would've checked on the tree house from time to time with all her surveillance issues and a certain vampire breakup. And I mean, who's to say she wasn't in contact with Joshua and Margaret as well? They had, supposedly, the only human left in their hands. She would've been interested in that. She would've been very interested in that.

Now, let's take a moment to consider what being partially raised by a princess / mad scientist would do to your brain. Let's take a moment to consider what being a knight at such a young age would do to your brain. Clearly a number since the very first episode of the series is Finn and PB causing a zombie apocalypse.

PB was shown in a very morally grey light right from the start. What Have You Done?(s1ep24) is one of my all time favorite episodes because of how well it's portrayed.

Finn is pretty willing to cross her in this episode once he realizes that the right thing is not what she asked of him, but it certainly sets the groundwork of the CONSEQUENCES for doing so; as well as "The princess is always right," mentality he seems to have for most of the series. (A/N: these clips are taken out of context of the full episode, I highly recommend you watch the full thing to understand what happens in it, why PB and Finn do what they do, etc. This goes for all the eps I'll mention.)

As Finn ages, we see his relationship with PB change a LOT. Even after he gets over his crush, he still seems to worship her. In a way that she's kinda conditioned him to.

A very important thing to note while I talk about this, especially around this part, is that I STRONGLY believe that neither of these characters are in the wrong in the relationship. I don't think one is abusing or manipulating the other. It's a two way street. They are both making it worse.

The next episode I'm going to reference is Princess Cookie(s4ep13) (Another A/N: I apologize for the google drive links from here on out, Tumblr only allows one video per post. Cringe.)

By this point, Jake is willing to cross PB AND FINN in the name of doing the right thing. Finn however, is not. As we can see clearly here. Jake has a criminal past. Jake understands that crimes are often committed by people with a very messed up mental state. Those people need help, not a lifetime in the dungeon. But clearly, Finn doesn't get that. Which is not his fault whatsoever. He's been a knight since at least age 12.

I also find this dialogue from the same episode incredibly interesting. I know Jake was playing a part here. I know he was trying to de-escalate the situation so that PB wouldn't send in the guards, but these words still left his mouth.

And I don't know, the fact that he quickly had to correct himself makes this seem genuine to me.

This concept can actually be explored further in Burning Low(s4ep16) which is literally two episodes after this.

I was originally going to avoid Burning Low in this analysis, despite it being one of my favorites, but it is pretty important to the relationship between Finn/Jake and PB. It doesn't take much for Jake to flip out on PB in this episode, which is a drastic contrast from his demeanor in the first half of it. It really makes me consider the fact that he could have some deeply rooted issues with her. Or even, some deeply rooted issues with how much time Finn spends with her.

Another small note from this episode, is this.

We know for a FACT that this is not romantic jealousy in the slightest. I think that Bubblegum has gotten so used to being worshipped by Finn, that now that there's someone in the way — especially someone who she has such a strained relationship with — there is this weird jealousy. Not because she's in love with Finn, but because he's growing up. Because she isn't the sole princess in his life anymore. Because she has one less person 100% fixed on her and her alone. Because Finn is HER knight.

Alright, now before we move onto season 5, there's one more thing from season 4 that is worth talking about. This scene in The Lich(s4ep26).

This scene is one of the most disturbing scenes in the whole show for me, because of a few reasons. First of all, this is after Burning Low. This is after both of them have their explosions at her. But this is about Finn. Finn, right now, thinks that PB is jealous of him and Flame Princess. He thinks that now that there's someone in the way, that suddenly she cares. Which isn't entirely wrong, as I stated in the previous paragraph.

I think that her reaction here was partially a trauma response. Her reaction to Finn in general around this time period could be in relation to Mr. Cream Puff as well, since as we see in Bonnibel Bubblegum(s10ep4), was not a consensual relationship. Of course though, his pursuits were unwanted. Her reactions don't have to be because of a specific thing. She said no, case and point.

Now, I'm not going to get into the insanity of Farmworld Dimension, but I do think it's interesting that this interaction is the last one between the original Finn and PB. Of course Finn after Farmworld is still technically the original because of the paradox Jake created, but it's still interesting to me. Anyways, like I said, I'm not going to get into that in much detail.

Onto season 5! Frost and Fire(s5ep30) is a hard watch. But I rewatched it for this and actually made a connection that I've never made before. Jake says to chase the Cosmic Owl dream, which leads Finn down this road of manipulation. I don't put Jake at fault whatsoever, I highly doubt he expected Finn to do what he did. Finn fucked up — Aaand... I can draw some pretty distinct parallels between Finn and Flame Princess' breakup, and PB and Marceline's breakup.

Frost and Fire

Obsidian(AT:DL ep2)

After the breakup, Finn is not in the best mental state, obviously. He still doesn't understand what he did wrong and I think that's partly what's eating away at him. He doesn't understand what happened. But in a desperate attempt at getting back to normalcy, he gives himself entirely up to PB again. And then we get this line from the episode Rattleballs(s5ep46)!

PB tells him to relax, and he goes off to fight things in a dump. As you do. He finds Rattleballs there and after some training, Finn asks how he ended up here. Rattleballs explains that he escaped Bubblegum's mass execution. And he asks Finn to not out him, but loyalty to the Princess comes first.

Finn thought that Rattleballs and PB could talk it out at this point. Which they did kinda end up doing. But that is so goddamn interesting to me. He doesn't know the lengths of which PB goes, but it's so clear that deep down he DOES acknowledge that something is not right with her. Which means by proxy, something's not right with him either.

I'm going to break away from the show here to reference the comics. I know they're not canon, however the Princess and Princess graphic novel doesn't really contradict anything from the show, so I think this is of note. Finn isn't scared of her, he's scared what she'll do to other people. Very interesting.

Okay, back to the show.

In Hot Diggity Doom(s6ep42), PB loses the crown. This interaction is one that stands out to me.

Obviously the situation is tense. They don't want to serve a dillweed, but "We pledged our allegiance to you," freaks me out a bit! We didn't see this happen. This was before Slumber Party Panic(s1ep1). We don't know how Finn and Jake became her knights. They also seem to be aware of something relating to Cream Puff, as both of them know he died somehow. They both mention in it Slumber Party Panic. Besides exploding when scared, candy people don't die of natural causes as far as we've seen thus far. I do wonder what happened to that guy.

And this monologue in The Thin Yellow Line(s7ep25) doesn't make me feel any better about it. I am fully aware that implying PB did something to him is grasping at straws from what we're given, but hey! It's PB. And boy oh boy, is it interesting to consider that maybe Finn and Jake knew that.

Moving on from that random headcanon though, I want to talk about how Finn reacts to all that information from Banana Guard 16. Obviously he embellished the truth there. PB did what she had to do for the most part, although... not very ethically. Finn knows that. He knew a good chunk of that by this point in the series, and his opinion on her hasn't seemed to have changed. When he actually sees PB at the end, he realizes that maybe Banana guard 16 was right. Maybe she is gonna take him apart. So he, y'know, does a super sneaky thing and switches the guards. Instead of taking to her about it, he puts an innocent guard to death, as far as he knows. And we all know that she didn't actually do anything to anyone in that episode, she even says she's not proud of her past!! Growth!!! We love to see it. Though Finn, seems to have gotten worse.

He's gotten better socially, as he makes up with Flame Princess in Bun Bun(s8ep6), but worse professionally.

And here we go! Another parallel in Varmints(s7ep2).

At the beginning of Islands, we get my favorite scene in the whole show. We get Fern, PB, and Marceline seeing the gang off. And then we get a very interesting interaction between Finn and PB. She explains that if he finds humans, he might find out some heavy stuff about where he came from. She makes him promise that he'll come back to Ooo. And he doesn't promise. They hug, and he leaves. And she says, "He'll be safe." But clearly she doesn't believe herself. Finn, in my eyes, is probably the most important person in PB's life next to Marceline. And she's terrified that he's gonna leave his family for blood.

In season 9, when Elements starts, and Finn and Jake are greeted with the candy tree house, Finn automatically assumes that it was PB, which is something I don't see talked about a lot.

And wow, speaking of season 9! Fern would not have died the first time if PB didn't install a FATALITY SETTING TO THE WEED WACKER. Just a thought. Just an observation, if you will.

Then by season 10, he pretty much spends the entire season trying to prevent the war she's starting. And then in Obsidian, he's still ready to be by her side at the drop of a hat. And to top it all off—

In Together Again, even in death, his first thought for outside help, is her.

This never ended. They never fixed any of these problems. Finn is the knight of a dictator. Even if he wants to be ethical, he can't be. And I think somewhere, he knows that.

I'll probably go into seasons 7-10 deeper at some point in the future but tumblr's image limit for this post was hit a while ago LMFAO

TL;DR if you're going to talk about PB's wrongdoings, you can't pretend Finn is innocent. I strongly believe neither of them are bad people, and that they really do need each other. But that's not good. They actively make each other worse.

Teen!Gojo Satoru x reader - super short oneshot in which you go on your first real date...THE SEQUAL

as the title states, this is a sequal to my last Gojo Satoru post, which is linked above if you wanna read it! man oh MAN did this get me feeling all the good feels, date number two is better than the last!

warnings: cursing, angst maybe if you squint REALLY HARD, you guys know I hate angst sooo.... also very mushy feels ahead.

Satoru takes a deep, nervous breath, steadying himself as he readjusts his dark, round sunglasses. "Will you...go on a date with me?"

"...sure."

"...really?"

"I don't see why you need to practice for something like this, you guys are already dating," Geto sighed. Not only are you two already dating, but you already had your first date!

"Well last time, we just kinda planned it together, but then that made me think about how I never even asked Usagi-chan properly!" He pouted a little, crossing his arms at Geto's defiance.

"Asked Usagi-chan what," you echoed, strolling up to sit with your boyfriend. He was sitting with Geto just outside the dorms, eating a popsicle nearly as blue as his eyes. He grinned at you, deciding to take the opportunity to ask now. "Usagi-chan, will you go on a date with me," he asked with a sparkle in his eye and a flirtatious smile, laying on copious amounts of charm.

"...sure," you shrugged, stealing a bite of his popsicle. Satoru turned to Geto, a proud look on his face as he said, "man, I should practice with you more often." Geto just shook his head, grimacing at the thought.

~*~fancy time skip~*~

You checked yourself out in the mirror one last time, admiring your favorite elegant outfit (accompanied by the ring, bracelet, and necklace he bought you) as you awaited Gojo's knock on your door. Last time, you got ready together and helped each other pick outfits, which was cute but not what Satoru wanted this time. He wanted the real date experience™, and that included picking you up and whisking you away to whatever he considered a magical evening. In all honesty, your expectations were pretty high. Even if he was the goofiest goober to ever goober sometimes, he would still try his best to give you as much as he had.

You heard a knock at your room door, and you grabbed your things as you excitedly walked over to open it. There Satoru was, wearing a black tux and that face he always made when he was trying to flirt, which wouldn't work if he weren't so damn handsome. He leaned against your doorframe, looking down at you as he said, "your chariot awaits," in a sultry tone.

You glanced past him, looking at what appeared to be a used tandem bike in a shade of icy blue. You looked back and forth between the two of them, his face not changing despite him almost certainly knowing how you felt. "...I'm not riding that," you finally say, voice laced with laughter, and he just pouts. "I figured as much," he sighed sarcastically, walking over to the bike like a sad puppy and kicking it far into the distance.

He teleports away, returning with a black car in his hands and gently placing it on the ground. "there, one fancy princess car," he boasted. You walked over with a smile and a giggle, watching as he rubbed his hands together to get dust off of them. "Do you even know how to drive," you asked teasingly, to which he shrugged. "What's there to it?"

...yeah, your confidence wasn't in him. "How about I drive," you offered, to which he violently shook his head. "make you drive on our real date experience™? I don't think so." With that said, he only had one other option. He scooped you up, bridal style, and suddenly you were both standing outside a fancy, tasteful restaurant. Well, he was standing, you were still in his arms. "Wow, this is really nice, toru," you complimented excitedly, hopping out of his arms. You had never been to such a nice place before, not romantically anyways, and the two of you walked in to get a table. the hostess was typing away on her handheld, distracted and not looking up at you yet. "Hi, do you guys have a reservation?"

"No," Gojo chuckled, as if he thought they'd just be let in...he definitely thought they were just gonna walk in and sit down.

"Oh, well I'm sorry, but-" She looked up, immediately mesmerized by the sheer attractiveness the two of you had- "But...we have a table ready right now! Follow me," she said, utterly smitten, especially with Gojo. You were grateful for the table, and even more happy that Satoru didn't seem to really care about the hostess. You hated when people tried to flirt with him, although an inevitable experience, but it kind of fueled your pride to see him give less than a rat's ass about it. On the flip side, it fueled his ego to be flirted with, despite not giving a shit about the person who was flirting with him, unless it was you of course.

You were walked to the upstairs area over looking the practically glowing city of Tokyo, a big and diamond encrusted chandelier hanging above you two. The table was circular, a cloth as white as Satoru's hair sitting atop it, and a candle in an elegant glass sitting atop that.

"You really thought we'd pull up here on a neon-blue tandem bike," You giggled quietly, a little nervous about being loud as the restaurant was lacking people.

"Clearly you've never been to Germany," he sniffed, his face full of mock offense.

"Have you," you countered, chin resting in hand.

He was silent for a moment, trying to come up with a response. "...fuck, you're hot," he finally sighed, leaning in with a flirty smile as he removed his sunglasses.

His response stunned you for a moment, warmth spreading through your face as you went a little wide-eyed. Quickly regaining your composure, you laughed and rolled you eyes as you said, "Yeah, what about it?"

"Just figured you should know," he chuckled, his eyes filled with enamor. A waiter came by, smiling and taking your drink orders (and going a little pink at the sight of you). Seeing as you were both teenagers you couldn't order alcohol, so the two of you ordered virgin cocktails. The waiter left to put in your orders, and Satoru sighed.

"did you see the way that guy looked at you," he asked, his tone indecipherable. you couldn't tell if he was hyping you up, or jealous as hell. It was probably both. "I'm pretty sure we just went over this," you teased. He shrugged, smiling at something he was thinking about. "Not like I care about people lookin' at you, I can't blame 'em."

"really? You don't care," you asked astonishedly, your lips curving into an amused smile. "Why would I? Caring means I find them threatening, and nobody can threaten me. I'm the greatest!" He put his hands up a little, palms facing the ceiling as if to punctuate his statement. You just giggled and turned your attention to the menu, knowing he was just trying to reason with himself, and at the sight of you doing so Satoru did the same.

After a few minutes, the waiter came back with your drinks, dropping them off before taking his notepad out to take your orders. You ordered their skillfully prepared Kujira (pufferfish), and Satoru ordered their renowned Kobe beef. Once the waiter left, You raised a brow at your boyfriend. "You sure you can afford all this? I brought my wallet in case-"

He cut you off, putting a finger to your lips comically. "Relax Usagi-chan, let me treat you!" He acts like he hasn't once given you special treatment, despite your relationship admittedly having roots in gifts and acts of service. You removed his hand from your face, laughing. "yeah yeah, fine then," you conceded, leaning back in your seat.

The rest of the meal went similarly, making each other laugh, forgetting about anyone and anything else, and eating hella expensive despite the fact that you're pretty sure it wasn't exactly worth the money. You were both exiting the restaurant now, skipping dessert because Gojo refused to drop a bag on deconstructed baklava (Bro is serious about dessert). You ended up at a café, taking a cupcake sampler to-go and sitting outside in the grass.

"Ok, what first," Satoru mumbled to himself, giddy at the prospect of eating something sweet after the super savory dinner you both just had. You shut your eyes and played eeny-meeny-miny-moe over the clear plastic of the box, eventually landing on the Black Forest cake. Gojo eagerly removed it from the box, every cupcake no larger than the rim of a coffee cup and all decorated with icing.

They came with little forks, but he just took a big bite of it and passed it to you. "ewww, now it has your saliva," you complained sarcastically, taking it but not biting out of it just yet. "You don't feel that way when we make out," he said with a sly smile, knowing his argument was flawless. You rolled your eyes and smiled, not having anything else to say as you bit out of the cake. It was moist, fluffy, and chocolaty, the crème and cherry filling combining to make a rich and sweet flavor profile. Long story short, it was good.

Satoru could see the look on your face, how you thought it was delicious, and he got a different, strawberry cupcake to eat. Not before streaking his finger through the icing of yours and licking it off, though. "Hey," you whined, although actually largely unbothered, and took the strawberry off the top of his cupcake. He whipped his head to you, betrayal on his face, before bursting out laughing for no reason.

"What," you asked, confused, and licked some icing off of your lips. "J-just...hold on," he said between snickers. He leaned in, gently taking your face in his hand and wiping icing off of your cheek with his thumb. He kissed the tip of your nose, effectively removing the icing there as well.

He could feel the way your face heated, and he could see how much his gentle touch affected you. It made him melt inside, just a little. Just enough to get vulnerable. He pulled back, knees tucked against his chest and chin resting against them as he gazed at the stars to avoid eye contact. "You know...I never thought I'd be able to be with you."

You cocked your head a little, confused. He what? Gojo Satoru, the embodiment of a god complex, didn't think he could be with you?

"How do you mean," You asked gently, eyes never leaving his side profile.

He sighed, chuckling wryly as he got his thoughts in order.

"Don't get me wrong, I wasn't worried about not dating you, I just...I never thought anyone could keep my attention long enough. I was worried I'd get sick of you, and that scared me because I really, really liked you. Buuuut I didn't get bored. I just kept falling more and more in love with you, which is funny 'cause I still am. I kinda feel stupid for it. I kinda like feeling stupid."

You listened to his monologue, watching as his the wind tousled his spikey white hair, as his colorless lashes fluttered, and as his lips curved into an embarrassed smile. He looked at you for the first time since he started talking, those piercing blue eyes grabbing the attention of your very soul.

You didn't know what to say, so you didn't speak. You just leaned in, taking his face in your hands, and gave him the longest, most loving kiss either of you have ever experienced. It wasn't lustful or passionate, not like your other kisses, but instead it held a gentleness, a purity, that made it special. You didn't pull back until he did, so you were there for a while, just embracing each other.

he laughed at himself as you finally broke away from each other, shaking his head. "Ahhhh fuck," he sighed, smiling as he pressed his forehead to his knees.

"what," you asked, laughing with him because his laughter was just that contagious.

For (some) of the younger generation , having a lot of followers and “engagement” while not having a lot of posts or “activity” is a flex. there was a period of time when you’d see the trend for gen Z and younger to have 0 posts on IG while having a lot of followers. They don’t want to look like they’re trying too hard or are “too online” such as double posting or posting too often.

🐟 wants to make it seem like organically people are interested in her because she’s so mysterious and rarely active. Except her and everyone else like her are “never online” repeatedly out themselves when they are always the first to like, comment, and engage on their friends posts 🤣.

when nobody knows who you are outside of who you married, and you never post anything about the person you’re married to who would give you clout, then nobody will remember who you are to give you the clout you so badly want.

She is a “public” figure and an “actress” so she needs to use her SM to promote her work and get engagement. She’ll also need to double post or do a more consistent post schedule if she’s trying to compete with all the other actresses in her bracket.

My genuine thought is that she’s hoping to either make her Hollywood debut stick by landing an audition (which she won’t because of her missing talent) and when it doesn’t, she tries to just fall back to “wife of” famous person. She’s not having much luck either way so I think it’s her going back and forth trying to see what sticks. That’s why it’s so inconsistent. For two days she seems like she’s suddenly all about her career then it’s back to following IG accounts that link her to him.

It’s a non stick situation where fame and clout are concerned but her questionable past, friends, old IG likes and posts and comments and of course, her C movie shower debut stuck like gum and tree sap under a shoe

Well, she used to be more active on IG (see my last post) but she tried to create that shy and innocent persona (she's the opposite!).

It's been two years and she still doesn't have a job or found a way to present herself. I don't know how long she wants to go back and forth but the Hollywood clock is ticking.

I wanted to introduce Somaia and Cecilia, so new characters for today's entry. Partially inspired by @gottawhump's post about some countries freeing pets automatically, which finally gave me the last link in Maia and Ceci's story (running a refuge in the Netherlands, Maia's home country, which is primarily for pets but does take in abuse victims and the like too sometimes) so ty for that!

"It's irresponsible and bordering on cruel to set people free with absolutely nothing, no legal identity, in many cases not even any knowledge of the language. Tortured into being unable to care for themselves. That's why we've partnered with the police, to give victims somewhere to go and someone to assist them as soon as their former owners are arrested."

Ceci places the mug of black coffee next to Maia with a pat on the arm where she's interviewing with the local news and squeezes past, towards the stairs and the balcony that accompanies the second floor.

Sure enough, Bless is sitting cross-legged out there, looking longingly over the beautiful bridges and buildings of Amsterdam. They've been doing that for a week.

"You can go out into the city, you know," says Ceci. "You're not property anymore. You don't need permission."

Bless is quiet. They're often quiet, but in a thoughtful way, like they're picking the perfect words. Perfect, perfect, perfect, all the time, and Ceci knows how they feel.

"It would be improper. I need supervision, because I'm too stupid to go out on my own. And pets don't get to go into the proper outdoors anyway."

Ceci closes her eyes for half a second. It hurts, every time a victim comes out with something like that. Even the ones who aren't pets, the abuse victims or runaways, their self-esteem is always so low.

She sits down next to Bless.

"Who told you that isn't the proper outdoors?"

"My Mistress' brother, ma'am." A pause. "Cecilia. My apologies."

"No worries. What exactly did he say?"

"That pets are too stupid to go outside properly. That's why there are places we can't go. And we need a leash when we go out in some places so really, we're not going outside properly."

"Well that's not true. There's plenty of restrictions on different groups of people, that doesn't make you stupid. Although regardless, you're not property anymore. You can go outside as much as you like."

Bless' wide eyes turn to look up at her. "Into the city?"

"Into the city."

"Can we go tomorrow?"

"Yes. Although I hasten to add that I'm accompanying you, not supervising you. You don't need supervision."

Bless' brow crinkles slightly as they turn back to the city. It's only the morning now, there would be time today, but they obviously need today to prepare, which Ceci understands.

Ceci makes a mental note to tell Bless later that pets are illegal in Amsterdam, and to take them somewhere that that's clearly labelled. Make sure that Bless knows they're not stupid, they don't need leashes and supervision. They should know. And it hurts to hear what they think about themself at the moment.

She's glad they picked up Bless straight from the police. It was Maia's idea to partner with them despite her distrust, and Ceci thinks it's helping. It's better than letting ex-pets continue to be abandoned when their owners are arrested, at least. That's what happened to multiple of their residents. Bless is the first to come to them through the partnership.

Maybe it's about time she contacted Theo and Max again. They're better at this than she is, maybe they have some tips for Bless. Or Anita or Ade might have advice for the increased publicity she and Maia are likely to receive now, after today's interview.

Increased publicity for them, and for their refuge. Oh, joy.

The insight you provided into my stack–particularly around the theme of having a lack of integrity–has given me much to think about over these (almost two!) years. I want to ask for your insight on a roadblock I've encountered multiple times in the therapy I've been receiving over the past year.

In almost every single session, I come fully prepared: I rehearse a list of 'problem topics' to discuss with my therapist in-session, and try to mine as much insight as I can from them before I discuss. My therapist prefers an unstructured kind of approach, allowing me to form what the sessions look like, and I have preferred having a 'route' of scenarios that link together with common themes, just to ensure that I am effectively using my therapy time.

One issue I've ran into is that we often finish discussion of these topics with plenty of time to spare, leaving me a little lost for words. I believe I am a person who is good at improvising conversation, but in these moments in therapy I run into a complete standstill: my mind draws blank, I have zero perception of what has bothered me, and I am unable to produce anything 'meaningful' for our sessions.

A couple of times, I have asked my therapist: "Do you have any questions for me?" With which he always asks me the same questions: "Why are you here today? What do you need help with? What bothers you right now, in your day-to-day life?" These questions always, always catch me off-guard and I'm unable to answer. I have an extremely poor perception of myself, and usually feel nothing on a day-to-day basis. I try to explain this as best as I can to my therapist, to which he says he understands, but cannot help me if I am not providing a source of conflict/pain/discomfort to work with. This often leaves me extremely upset and frustrated, like I'm a lost cause or incapable of receiving help.

In recent sessions I've tried to be more freeform and less structured, and it does feel like it's helping. However, I do still have this fear that I'm approaching things completely wrong, like it's impossible for anyone to help me if I'm not even sure what I need help for. This lack of self-awareness is nauseating and I don't know how to fix it.

Therapy isn't a performance or competition. It's not a place to get judged or judge yourself. It's not a test or exam that you have to prepare the right answers to pass. It's also not an exact science of rules to follow to the letter. Ideally, therapy is a safe space for you to explore freely and gradually raise self-awareness as you discover more about yourself.

Some aspects of the therapeutic process upset you and you stewed about them alone, perhaps because you are in the habit of keeping a tight leash on yourself and can't proceed unless you feel more in control of things. Many Js have a tendency to manage anxiety by imposing structure or control. In the real world, this tendency easily becomes a deeply ingrained habit because you regularly get rewarded for "having it together" or "being on top of things". However, in the therapy world, one of the main goals is to let feelings/emotions rise up and come out freely so that you can explore what they really mean. Therefore, the habit of being too controlled/controlling can work against you in therapy if it basically creates a dam that prevents the deeper parts of your psyche from flowing out.

This might be why approaching sessions in a less structured way is helpful, as you release yourself from the compulsion to control. It allows you to discover important things that you didn't realize needed to be explored. Instead of going off alone to stew about whatever upset you, why not express your feelings as they happen in real-time? Why ask me about it rather than the therapist? Whatever it is you need to happen or want to do, either allow it or communicate about it honestly. E.g. If you don't know what else to say and it starts to make you anxious, communicate your anxiety to the therapist. If the therapist asks questions that catch you off-guard or make you feel bad, then explore the negative feelings right then and there.

In my last response, I said: "If you are indeed INFJ, to get back on the right type development path requires you to confront and resolve the deeper emotional problems that have been festering." This means emotional intelligence is a key factor in your personal growth. It's important that you learn to welcome and embrace feelings/emotions as they come and process them as they exist in the present, rather than ruminating on them after the fact. This also ties in with the issue of integrity; it's hard to maintain integrity when you're not in touch with yourself and listening carefully to your emotional needs.

The habit of keeping feelings/emotions at bay or tightly under control is usually indicative of an underlying fear of them. As long as you fear looking within (or keep trying to obscure what's really happening because you don't like what you see/feel), therapy is going to seem slowgoing. Perhaps you think therapy should be revealing certain truths to you, but, actually, you should be the one revealing the truths. The therapist is only there to reflect your truths back to you with greater clarity. While the therapist has a genuine desire to help, it is an important part of their training to never work harder than the client. They only work with what you give them, so, if it seems as though there's not much happening, it's because you haven't revealed enough of yourself.

This brings us to the most important point of what's really stopping you from revealing yourself. You seem to have an issue with being self-critical. Self-critical people can't stand to look at themselves and they assume others will judge them similarly, which leads to feeling anxious or unsafe in social situations. Many people cope by getting into the habit of hiding all the aspects of themselves that are deemed "ugly" or "undesirable", which often includes all the negative feelings and emotions they don't want to experience. In the end, all that is visible is the mask they've chosen.

Until you can approach yourself with more kindness and compassion, the safety of hiding or obscuring the truth of yourself will always be too tempting. Perhaps self-compassion and self-expression are issues you can work on in therapy. Allow yourself to be human and "imperfect" and drop the facade of control, and then you might find that you have a lot more material to work with.

No pressure at all but I know it’s gaining popularity and that fandoms historically have a shit record with disability and you’ve spoken about your frustrations with that tag. Also thank you for sharing the link to the movie!! I’ve been wanting to watch more historical films especially ones that push back against assumptions of what the past was capable of!

omg YES thank you for asking!!! so to preface for anybody who doesn't know: i myself am hard of hearing and i used to post about steve being hard of hearing sometimes prior to s4, but i haven't posted about it much since it became a Thing in the fandom because i don't trust other people on my posts lmao.

so honestly this is gonna be less about specific tropes and more of a broad ideological discussion bc i don't usually read the hoh steve fics i scroll past and i don't want to act like i Know exactly what all of them are like based off just the few i have read. however, i Have seen the tags and summaries and read the first few paragraphs of a lot of them, and i feel like that's enough for me to have like. an opinion. so ANYWAY.

my first issue is just that pretty much everyone i've seen writing hoh steve is hearing themselves. there's nothing inherently wrong with that, but the thing is that hoh steve is like. entirely a creation of fandom, yknow? there's not rly anything in canon that indicates steve has poor hearing--honestly, if anything, he seems to have rather keen ears (picking up on the background music in the russian code in s3, being the first one to hear dustin in the upside down in s4). you can certainly reverse-engineer it and argue that poor school performance can be an indicator of poor hearing, that his head injuries could potentially cause hearing loss, but neither of those are things where hearing loss naturally comes to mind without somebody looking for it, so this begs the question of why. what exactly is motivating these hearing people to write this character as hoh?

i've noticed some things that tend to go along with hoh steve. one is steddie, which is kind of a given in the st fandom at this point, but it's the things that go along with that which concern me. the "babygirl steve" thing where steve is woobified and feminized to the point of being nigh-unrecognizable seems quite common among these fics. steve often has other medical problems as well--he needs glasses, he gets migraines, he has memory loss, he's depressed, he's got chronic pain, etc, etc, and my disability is just another thing on a laundry list of issues that is seemingly employed for the sole purpose of making steve sad and hurt and pitiable so that (usually) eddie can come along and save him/baby him. i'm not gonna act like i've never tossed some shit at steve to make him suffer in a fic, but it's always for like. a Reason. and that reason has never once been just so i could ship him with somebody and make them into his savior.

i think a lot of people writing hoh steve just don't necessarily have great intentions with it, yknow? they see it as a way for steve to suffer nobly in silence and be self-sacrificial, or they think it's cute to make steve deaf since eddie plays loud music (???).

there are a lot of things i love about being hard of hearing. i love that i get to have a unique appreciation of sound that not everybody has. i love that i can take out my hearing aids when the world is too much. i love that i still discover new sounds at the age of twenty-two. did you guys know that dishwashers make noise? i didn't until today! my house was quiet and i kept hearing something strange until i tracked it down and realized! i love that i have a sense of wonder about every noise i hear! and while i don't begrudge anybody their enjoyment of hoh steve content, i have yet to see any that comes remotely close to capturing these feelings, so it's just not for me.

also this is a silly pet peeve but why is it that in these fics steve almost always learns asl and like rarely has hearing aids? like sorry but unless he's completely deaf that's out of character. steve harrington is not learning a whole new language unless he absolutely has to and has literally no other options. they had hearing aids in the eighties. c'mon people.

anyway. sorry that was so long lmao and thank you for asking!! also thank you for actually reading and caring about my within our gates post!! i highly recommend looking up some 1920s music to listen along with the film, though you can honestly listen to whatever you want--at the time, films didn't typically have dedicated scores, and individual theaters would provide their own musical accompaniment however they saw fit. oftentimes this meant a live musician would play piano during the film, and improvise to suit the mood/plot! happy viewing 💕

I don't agree with anon who suggested removing comments from AO3, but I do kinda wonder what an AO3 without a kudos button would look like. To the best of my knowledge, LJ had no kudos/like equivalent, and I've always wondered if the interaction culture was influenced by the lack of a "show your appreciation" feature that was both quick and, more importantly, impersonal. I understand that for many readers, kudos is the only way they feel comfortable leaving feedback, but I've always viewed it as a little bit too close to the "consume and move on" culture of IG and Twitter.

On a related note, in a discussion about why people do or don't comment on AO3 fics, many people said something to the tune of "I don't want to break the flow by stopping to comment when I'm binge-reading fic". And I get that, but at the same time the concept of binge-reading fic after fic, like scrolling down an Instagram feed, and only leaving a like as a sign of your passage there, makes me a little sad.

Since you were involved with AO3 early on, I'm also curious what went into the Kudos button and why.

You know, I honestly don't remember the conversations around the kudos button. I suspect they happened more among the tech people doing the actual design and programming and less amongst the content policy people where I was.

That said, I think the view of LJ that most Olds have is far too rosy:

The big difference wasn't kudos: it was hit counters.

Kudos-only types were probably lurking, but they didn't show up because there was no like button and no count of how many non-commenters happened by. Actual attempts to figure out rates of feedback showed they were terrible just like they were terrible in the zine days and just like they're terrible now... at least in the minds of authors.

The too anxious to X crowd still existed in the past. They just either never found fandom in the first place because you needed to know someone in order to gain access to zines or a mailing list or they lurked and got locked out of all the locked fic posts on LJ.

The people who get shittons of interaction are the ones with free time to respond a lot and who seem to be inviting interaction. I've had some bitchy assholes whine that they're not popular on tumblr while I am, but 1. it took years and 2. well, see above.

On LJ, the people who got a lot of interaction were writing juggernaut ships in fandoms at the height of their popularity. They often also had meta posts that directly invited responses in between their fic posts. And the fic posts may have had author's notes that invited conversation too.

In 2022, the fic authors who I see getting tons of interaction have a CuriousCat or similar that they link to on their fics and seem to be parked on Twitter all day, responding to fans and inviting more interaction. They are writing juggernaut ships in fandoms at the height of their popularity.

If I look at Fanfiction.net (which had literal millions of users at points where "all of fandom" in a LJ sense was pretty small), I see a lot more commonalities with AO3. Certain very skilled authors have fans falling over themselves to make friends. Certain small fandoms or ships have a dedicated fanbase that comments on everything, and it's the same 6 people, but they're very enthusiastic. Old, dead fandoms or unpopular topics don't get a lot of interaction. Hits are very high compared to feedback of any kind.

You avoid binge readers by sharing your fic in private with your tiny fandom of super committed people. On big, public archives, it has always been the norm. Hell, in zine times, someone with the money for a lot of zines could still be like this. There was just less to read overall.

As an author, I don't like being treated as disposable, but one has to keep in mind how many times one has had a profound reaction to fiction and shared that reaction with friends or with no one.

I don't think the bingers are necessarily seeing me as disposable even if they don't comment.

OH BOY. Okay, soooo I like almost don't want to Answer this because "shippy" theories have me EXHAUSTED lately, ive been sticking myself firmly in a just vibing with the facts headspace for the past month or so. But ever since memories dropped I've had people referencing back to this ask, that I got a WHILE ago now. Where I said, ask me again after memories 2021 and I have more content to base my thoughts around over why Jimin was in his "blushing era" around JK during Fall/start of winter of 2021. And well, yall certainly didn't forget about that 😂😂 And I apologize to you, anon, in particular for making you wait for MONTHS with this ask just chilling at the bottom of my inbox lol

As I mentioned in the ask, we saw blushing Jimin start at around the beginning of September and we didn't see it much again after the last time which was during the PTD Concerts when JK got super up in Jimin's face

But after we got more content, in the form of bangtan bombs, concert dvds and memories, the amount of times Jimin was blushing (including the 2 I've shown here and the others mentioned in the previous ask linked above), there were not anymore instances. So the "theories" i mentioned having about a possible dynamic shift, I'm not so sure if it was a shift, or just them enjoying the moment and/or just enjoying each other. Plans were starting to get set into motion, everyone was discussing exactly when they would start enlisting, what concerts they would get to have and get to do before that happened. Something else to note was that during this time frame, Jimin and JK had also started to plan out and start doing fittings for their photofolios for this time. We know because in one of the preview sketches for Jimins, he was in the same outfit as a ot7 vlive they did and for JK all his piercings match up to that time frame too. He didn't have as many before and he has since had multiple taken out/closed up. And those were some sexy concepts they both participated in. With some interesting dynamics and expressionism portrayed too

And well who knows how this stuff carried over into home settings, into conversations they were having. If either of them looked over ideas/sketches together or any selcas taken and sent to each other. All that is just guess work but who knows. My partner doing sexy photoshoot concepts would be something I find enjoyable and could attribute to possibly blushing or just general enjoyment of each other (not necessarily in an 18+ only either)

So, we have incredibly sexy photoshoots they are coming home from planning and shooting and sharing with each other. We have blushing happening on JKs birthday, where we know they saw each other, spent some time together and worked on the 3J butter routine, where Jimin blushed a bit watching JK push his hair back repeatedly. Which um, where do we see JK repeatedly pushing his hair back and trying to thirst trap us again? Oh yeah, Jimins birthday video THIS year lol

We also saw a bit of an uptick in the matching accessories between them during that time period too. But as I also mentioned in the first post, it's not like JK never made Jimin blush before. He has done so OFTEN over the years actually. JK just has this affect on Jimin where he just melts like butter when he looks at him. Lol its adorable. And it also goes both ways. Soooo I guess what it's coming down to here is.... I have NO IDEA. And I'm okay with that. I don't think he was shy and blushy over things like hickeygate. I don't think he was blushing over people thinking they were boyfriends. I don't think they went off and got married and was blushy through their "honeymoon period." I don't think there was necessarily any shift in their dynamics here either.

I think they were just.... happy together and a little extra in love. Maybe because they were reaffirming their commitment to each other over those few months as all their futures were up in the air and MS was around the corner and they knew things were going to be changing. Maybe they were making sure to see each other in New light and reconnect together and make promises together through all these events where they didn't know if it would be their last ones for a while yet or not. These were conversations being had between the members for years finally coming to a head and... maybe they just made sure to give each other extra appreciation and love through it all. Which affected Jimin in this way of blushing and shy happiness. Or when JK was being extra attentive, like on his birthday when he was super sweet to Jimin all through practice and then through his VLive too. They really were just very soft those few months. It's really nice to see too.

Sorry that's not much of an answer honestly, but it's all I've got for yall at this moment. And I personally, am okay with that. I'm okay with not knowing what was going on during those months or what Jimin was thinking about during those times. I think they are cute and precious moments that highlight something a little special about their bond. But everything else above? That's just pure speculation. I'm good with just leaving it at, their bond is pure and special and sweet. And these moments give us a peak into that dynamic between them just a little bit. And I'm grateful for it.💜

I used to, but I've been really bad about it in the past year or so. I do read and cherish every comment I get, though.

5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Hard to say! There are a couple of Supernatural ficlets from ~13 years ago with fairly fucked up endings. Of my somewhat recent fic, probably either Empty or Bonny Mad Boys (both for Shadowhunters), with a special mention for my zombie apocalypse Buddie fic, where the dead men lost their bones, although that does at least allow for the possibility of a happy(ish) ending.

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

Honestly, the vast majority of my fic has happy endings, even when I put them through the wringer first.

7. Do you write crossovers?

I've written a few, mostly for various fic challenges. It's not something I do all that often though.

8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Oh, yeah. Death threats, even! Shadowhunters fandom was weirdly unhinged about this.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Um, yes. XD

I used to write smut very rarely, and feel extremely awkward about it, and then I decided to write 100k words worth of fills for the Clowntown kinkmeme, and that pretty much cured me of that.

10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not as far as I know?

11. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes, several, into a handful of different languages. Always very exciting! I link back if I know about them.

12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Not one that ever actually got posted.

13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?

I have been in fandom wayyyy too long to answer this, lol.

14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

I have a really angsty Reddie cheating fic that I wrote like 20k words of and then abandoned. I sometimes think about returning to it, but honestly I probably won't.

15. What are your writing strengths?

I think I write pretty good dialogue - it's definitely one of the things I enjoy the most. Also action and smut, which IMO are pretty similar from a logistical standpoint.

16. What are your writing weaknesses?

I am so bad at anything resembling plotting. SO bad. And frankly I always feel like my fluff is stilted and saccharine; I do much better with angst, generally speaking.

17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I've done it before, but I probably wouldn't now, not the least because I'm really not fluent enough in any other language to be worth it.

18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

That I actually posted? LOTR RPF. Thankfully, that's been lost to the defunct forums of 2002. I've been writing fic just for my own entertainment pretty much as long as I've been able to read, though.

19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?

Good Omens! I've read a fair amount of fic, but I didn't really get immersed in the fandom until after season 2. I have a couple of ideas that I'm playing around with, but I don't completely feel like I've got the character voices down yet.

20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written

This changes OFTEN. I think right now, So Newly Charming is the fic I've written most recently that actually came out exactly how I wanted it to. I can reread it without cringing, which is a rarity for me.

What's Eddie Munson's canon sexuality and why it makes so much noise inside the fandom?

[This post opens a very serious discussion about a subject that is so debated in the fandom, so I need everyone to understand that this is just a conversation about the subject and not a fight to see which side is right or not.]

I don't want to be disrespectful or homophobic in any way, because I'm also part of the lgbt community, but apparently you can also be homophobic if you're from the community (believe it or not) and really those people exist, but it's not my case. My opinion is based only on the facts of the show, and I also have written about gay and lesbian couples (not here on tumblr yet) so it's not related to any kind of disrespect to anyone in the community. I hope no one feels offended by the post.

I also don't want to disrespect anyone's headcanons or shipps, because everyone believes in what they want and has their own interests, and that won't change your view about the character or not. Anyone who believes he is something specific will believe it whether they read this or not, but I just want to open a dialogue on the subject, as I have already saw a lot of people bringing this type of conversation about his personality, his attitude, etc.

I've seen in several places for months (since season 4 actually came out) the amount of debate about Eddie's sexuality, and after hearing a lot of people talking about it, I decided to say what I think and why I think that, you know?

He is a very popular character and has caught the attention of many people, mainly the alternative community (because he is part of the alternative community, that is, who do not dress or like the same interests as most people), and unlike the alternative community of that time, ours currently has much greater freedom of expression, and with that we are also able to express our sexuality, something that was not possible in the past, at the time when Eddie is portrayed.

Most "standard" people are heterosexual, while lgbt people are very much against this standard of something that is more accepted by the society, which leads to alternative people, who are also different and are marginalized by their lifestyle as well as the lgbt community.

So it's very common for us to link the subject of an lternative person with an lgbt person, and there are also many alternative people who are lgbt (like me for example), and in the 80's there was a lot of prejudice with those two social groups.

But these days the alternative community and the lgbt community can finally expose their sexualities, and as alternatives are often part of fandoms and internet communities in general, they found Eddie Munson and welcomed him for being part of this alternative group. When you like a character a lot and understand them, it is normal to attribute characteristics of yourself to them, for example your beliefs (if you belong to a party or not, a religion or not, are you a feminist or not and etc.), or their sexuality. So many people who are part of the alternative and lgbt community like to believe that he is like them too, for example him being a gay person who couldn't talk freely about his sexuality during the 80's.

Changing the subject for a better understanding of the conclusion of the blog,

Eddie is, canonically, part of one of those groups. The other is still a debate. So he is very marginalized, excluded, cursed, and people always hate him wherever he goes. Because in addition to being a metalhead, his father is apparently a criminal, he has no parents and lives with his uncle, in the trailer park in a small town, that is, he is very poor too. And he's "dumb" (to people) because he flunked out twice. And he sells drugs too, that is, his life is already a disgrace

In addition to the satanic panic of the 80's, then the metalheads were already being persecuted and being accused of murder and doing satanic rituals, they arrested a lot of people for nothing, so Eddie was the biggest terror in the school apparently.

Everyone hates this man, but he doesn't let it get him down. He's very playful, immature, idiotic, and that's partf of his personality. Eddie got used to the bullying and it made him more skittish, he replies back, at this point his reputation is so destroyed that he doesn't even care about destroying it anymore, for example we have that wonderful scene that became a mark for him inside the show:

So he doesn't care if he looks weirder, besides the fact that in metal culture in the 80's people were a little crazy, they made faces on stage, made fun of each other, flicked their hair, "sex, drugs and rock n roll", and that's what Eddie believes in and it's what he's used to do. Being more "crazy" and carefree, Eddie doesn't care about a lot of things related to posture and a lot of masculinity, despite being clear that he is a cis man and has masculine mannerisms made very clear, he doesn't care about, for example, """looking gay """ (using a more blunt term). In other words he doesn't have fragile masculinity, but he does have his own masculinity.

That doesn't change the fact that he can be interested in other men, after all, gay men are still men. However, many people connect his carefree behavior and his rebellion against society with the fact that in addition to being a metalhead, he is also a gay character.

We often see Eddie jumping up and down, talking close to other male characters' faces, and generally embracing with everything he can the fact that he's a different person and he loves being that way, and it's very obvious. But that still doesn't make clear the answer to the question: is he gay or not?

And now we come to my personal belief, based on what Stranger Things showed us: I don't think so.

Many people are already tired of this discussion, and answer that Eddie is bi or pan, simply to end this doubt once and for all. But it doesn't make sense, since within the series he has never shown even the slightest interest in any male, not even in Steve. (please don't kill me)

Is Eddie interested in men?

I know this divides many opinions, and everyone believes what they want as I said, but it is very clear that inside the canon he had no interest in Steve.

All interactions between him and Steve were marked by the simple fact that the two belong to very different social groups. Steve is the bully, and Eddie is bullied. He's been the "King Steve" for years and Eddie was a student at Hawkins High when he was named that, and maybe he and his friends from the time of season one called Eddie a weirdo, they judged him, because as everyone remembers they were idiots.

Eddie says this, literally in the forest scene, which is so often used to defend the fact that he had an interest in Steve. I don't remember exactly what it was, but it was something like, "I didn't want to admit that 'King Steve' was actually a nice guy. Rich parents, popular, ain't that douchebag? No way, that goes against all laws of the universe". The looks they're exchanging are awkward looks, Eddie more like "Seriously you're not going to bully me? I don't trust you. But yeah I can try to be your friend" And Steve is more like "he's such a weird guy (but I don't treat him badly, he just wouldn't be part of my conversation group)" because he does have that social construction that Eddie is weird because he's alternative, and Eddie don't help much either, he's staggering around, stumbling around, generally a little flustered and saying some unrelated things, so Steve thinks it's weird even if he doesn't hate him for it. Do you remember how uncomfortable the silence was when Eddie said "Ozzy? Ozzy Osborne? He took the head off the bat on stage" and Steve thought it was weird as hell, but he didn't say anything.

Steve and Eddie are the perfect embodiment of that meme "mom: son, go play with the neighbor's son // the neighbor's son: *insert something weird as hell here*

People say that Eddie was freaking out about Steve with his shirt off but really he was giving him a dirty look, he was looking at him and judging like "look at how he likes to show off 🙄". And then when Steve and Nancy were having a moment he throws the jacket at Steve and tells him to get dressed, but not because he was jealous of the two of them, but because they were almost climbing on top of each other and Steve was all bragging walking up and down shirtless, no one deserves to be watching live flirting, and he said enough for the two to be quiet for a bit.

The famous "don't ya, big boy?" was because he was teasing Steve, and the scene where he was pointing a broken bottle at Steve, for god's sake, I've seen people freaking out saying they were crazy to kiss each other in that scene.

There's a lot of talk about the black hanky code on his back pocket, that wearing it in the 80's meant he was gay and had bdsm preferences, but the black bandana is also part of metal culture, countless band members have already used this bandana in their back pocket, like James Hetfield (vocalist of Metallica) and Slash from Guns n' Roses. In addition, gays did not use this code in open places because it was very dangerous to be victims of some kind of violence if people found out about their sexuality, so they only used this code in establishments and safe places where there were only gay people and they were not at risk. Eddie uses it everywhere, and I didn't notice, but from what I've heard around, he doesn't keep that bandana in a specific pocket, he changes it at some point in the series, I just don't know which one. And let's face it, the designers only put it there for him to use in his hair during volume 2.

Is Eddie interested in women?

Eddie doesn't have the slightest indication of having any interest in men, but for women he has many. Not an insane amount because his personality doesn't revolve around it (like Billy), but it's still made very clear.

The first one is when he's giving his speech in the cafeteria in the first scene, and he makes way for the cheerleaders to pass with the biggest smile in the world and proceeds to look at them head to the feet when they walk past, even though he's pissed inside and lecturing the kids just now, but yeah, poor boy needs to grab every chance

The second clue is how into Chrissy he was in the forest scene, he is always respectful and at first he was really interested in selling and leaving, but after they started talking he showed interest and started doing things to try to make her laugh, invited her to watch him play, was very charming, even said he had tattoos and even though he had several showing on his arm, he made sure of pulling down the collar of his shirt to show the one he had on his chest. Joseph himself said that he was trying to make it look like Eddie was flirting with her, and he believes he was interested in Chrissy. The Duffers said they had a chemistry that could have been developed but couldn't because Chrissy's death scene was already filmed, also implying that Eddie was interested in her, so it's somewhat clear that he has an interest in her. women.

Maybe, just a thought that i had without any confirmation from anyone, maybe he was hoping that something might develop at his house when he went to get Chrissy the drugs, and who knows, maybe they even used it there and ended up doing something, I don't know. Of course he was always respectful to her and never harassed Chrissy or anything like that, and he wasn't trying to take advantage of her either, but things develop, and he was bringing a girl who was flirting into his house at night where they were completely alone, Eddie you don't even try to be discrete

I wasn't the only one who thought this, because I saw a meme that went like this: "Jason if Chrissy hadn't been attacked by Vecna when she was at Eddie's house: *insert here several pictures of oxen and men with horns*" (this doesn't prove anything, I just thought it was funny to comment)

Other than that, which is what we see in the series, there are other things on the set that imply his sexuality and I decided to comment because they are veryyyy interesting information.

This part here is a little explicit so I would mark it as more +18 information, because it talks about something more personal about him

In a video inside the recording set where Eddie's room is shown in detail, and shows things that were outside the camera in the show, it is possible to see a Heavy Metal magazine (that's the name of the magazine) with a 1986 edition of Druuna.

Druuna is basically a series of erotic comics set in a post-apocalyptic future/sci-fi universe, whose protagonist has sex with men in exchange for a cure for a illness. All, literally all the takes of the comics in which she appears are in compromising positions, wearing very short and tight clothes, and in the comics all the time there are nude scenes and explicit sex scenes, with private parts exposed (basically is a hentai comic). It is even heavily criticized for having a constant objectification of women and some romanticized rape scenes, but let's not talk about this right now...

If that isn't proof enough, this magazine is at the foot of his bed, in front of the bedside table, and on top of that table there are a bunch of little things scattered all over the place. One of these things is a pack of condoms, and this, in addition to indicating that he is a sexually active person or at least cautious and thinks about it, there is also another observation: the two are at his bedside, and within his reach. If it's there he put it on recently, and I'm sure that if it's at the foot of the bed it doesn't belong there and he was reading when he left it lying there. You know what that means.

And yes, we both know that he uses these things. But have you ever thought that maybe he uses them... ate the same time? 💀
