I wonder sometimes what the L&Co crew did after they aged out of having the sight. Obviously Lucy makes some mention of them helping DEPRAC clear the other side and you can help with that even w/o sight thanks to the Orpheus society, but I don’t imagine they did that forever or even full time.
I’ve actually thought a LOT about what I think they end up doing as adults so… here’s an extremely long post about it:
George’s path is obvious to me. He becomes a foremost voice on the nature of the problem, and he’s able to go to Oxford for university (or the most prestigious UK university still running) on this basis. He gets a degree in history and goes on to a PHD. He then dedicates several years to writing a complete, multi-volume, history of the problem/agencies/corruption/visitors (which will go down in history as THE TEXT about the problem)
… I’ll put the rest under the cut bc this is fr going to be lonnnng
We also know from the existence of Lockwood and Co the books that Lucy at some point metatextually writes a memoir detailing the antics of Lockwood and co. (Which, go off girlboss, she did a great job.) For Lucy’s career path, I imagine that she is a formal DEPRAC partner for a time goes to the other side more than any of her other L&Co colleagues to help out.
This may be a weird take, but I also think that Lucy’s relationship with the Skull and all the weird experiments on ghosts she witnesses lead her to go all GHOST RIGHTS. She campaigns for seeing ghosts differently and repsecting the dead and works to get DEPRAC to create better regulations for how sources are treated when contained and advocates for figuring out how to release them to the other side rather than destroying sources as a first move. Idk I think it suits her relationship to ghosts; she’s definitely more invested in their humanity than other agents.
I don’t think Lockwood would try to hire young agents as a supervisor to keep the agency going after losing his sight. Especially since he’s aware that the problem is fading and considering he’d still have work available through DEPRAC. I think Lockwood spends his first few post-sight years in lots of therapy and takes time off from working since he’s been running a very intense business since he was like 14. I also think he foots the bill for Flo to get a therapist as well.
They’re both able to work through their grief and trauma from the people they’ve lost, Lockwood works through his habit of repressing his feelings, and Flo works through her feelings of being cornered while in doors. Flo eventually moves into Portland Row, and she and George and Lucy and Lockwood spend most of their young adult lives (whole lives if you ask me) living in the same house or living right next door to each other.
As for Lockwood’s actual career path I think Lockwood’s would make it his life’s work to share his parents findings. He spreads the traditional burial practices and ways to ward off ghosts like that Lockwood’s parent’s researched to help people protect themselves from ghosts around the UK as the problem fades.
I don’t know that I see Flo having a real job. I could see her in advocacy for housing insecure youth (we know London has MANY due to the Problem) but I’d also like to see her have a relaxing-ass life. Enjoy therapy and her friends, date George, plant a vegetable garden. Flo’s never cared much about material goods so I could see her working odd jobs here and there to help contribute to Portland Row Expenses, but mostly focus on nonprofit work and political activism while enjoying her life.
I think both Kipps and Holly stay on at Lockwood and co until it permanently disbands, then I imagine they both work to advocate for the rights of former agents in some capacity. If Holly could further her eduction I think she’d work in the legal system, maybe working in administration/research on cases that are attempting to hold leaders of the Orpheus society and high up Fittes and Rottweil people accountable for compensating traumatized former agents. Oh and she asks out that girl from DEPRAC she was living with (and they were roommates oh my god they were roommates)
I think Kipps might (after he’s matured a bit) get involved with a young adult professional development program trying to address all of the former agents and nightwatch kids who forwent education at a young age to hunt ghosts and help them access free education and classes to gain new marketable skills as the ghost hunting industry declines and kids age out of the sight. He also stops beefing with teenagers (so much) and lives out his destiny as surrogate brother/20 year old adopted father to Lucy George and the rest. And he gets himself a husband bc he deserves it 😤
As for the Skull… I’m in the camp that he does return and he occasionally stops by Portland Row to chat with Lucy and pull poltergeists type pranks on the other residents. When Lucy can no longer hear him 🥲 I still think he sticks around for a while, making his presence known by moving objects and helping keep the house cool in the summer (yayyy ghost chill), he also still speaks to Lucy when she does work on the other side with DEPRAC. But eventually, maybe when Lucy’s in her late twenties, the skull feels ready to move on, and Lucy visits to the other side to say good by and help him pass on.

serious post again, CW: brief mentions of suicide and death threats
i saw a post that stated "bullying alone can not cause USDD/OSDD" i dont remember the exact words but that was the jist of it.
kids are fucking brutal. story time! when we were in grade 10 (freshman year, i believe) we got our head slammed in a locker door. we got a concussion from that. we have permanent double vision, we had one surgery, and we have another lined up because it will not go away. we had to do a full year of eye therapy and exercises in an attempt to fix it that did not work. that same kid has been verbally tormenting us since before kindergarten. that kid has gotten multiple of our classmats to berate us and bring us down. that kid has genuinely caused us to consider suicide. he turned everyone against us, spread rumours, the works. we had NO friends from school. we never had anyone over for birthdays except cousins who were obligated to come. we never got invited to anyone elses birthday, because no one liked us. we were the 'weird kid' (undiagnosed autism, undiagnosed adhd, undiagnosed other disorders that fuck with our mind and make dayto day life more impossible than it is) no one ever wanted to be our friend we were isolated and neglected and! bullied! HARSHLY! PHYSICALLY HARMED by classmates. we are 20 years of age bodily, we have a few issues (that i will not name) that makes our mental age be the equivalent of 15-16. we will always be a few years behind our physical age. our mom says that once we turn 24, 25 that itll be easier to pretend we're the right age mentally. all of this shit got us bullied to the point where this other kid deemed it acceptable to screw up our fucking vision by smalling our head in a locker door when we bent down to pick up a binder and make our parents shell out fifty thousand+ dollars to try and fix it. you wanna know what they did to make sure we didnt get bullied again? took us out of the same classes and moved our locker. he didnt get suspended or expelled or even punished. the bullying stopped after we dropped out due to suicidal thoughts and self harming tendencies. we have not gone back, and we legally cant go back as we're legal adults now.
when our aunts went to school, they received threats such as "im going to bring my dads b*tch*r kn*fe to school and ch*p your head off". do you know how fucking upsetting that is to a child? do you know how terrified our aunts were when they got told things like that DAILY? they could not go to the teachers, because the teachers would step in, talk to the bully, and then the bully would call them tattletales and bully them harder.
we got hit with a motercycle by our brother and then got blamed for it. it wasnt our fault. we were on a bicycle, driving on the right side of the road, pretty much in the ditch. and he hit us and lied about it to our parents so he wasnt in trouble and they believed him and yelled at us and took our bike away. even lying like that can be horribly horriby damaging to a small child.
when youre a small child and dont have a big concept of 'things could be worse!' and stuff like that, bullying is a massive deal and it can, and has, driven people to suicide, kids recieve literal death threats and then dont tell people because they will get bullied harder. other kids will lie about big things and then you get blamed for something very serious that is not your fault. kids get physically harmed, and the teachers do nothing about it and the child learns early on that they are on their own. traumatizing, right? people also seem to forget that parents are the bullies sometimes. parents who bully their kids also count as bullying. bullying is bullying no matter who it is.
obviously our trauma and OSDD wasnt caused solely by bullying. we have a rough home life, our parents are actively preventing us from getting a job and moving out, but thats a story for another time or maybe even never. i dont mind sharing those three stories as they happened a long long time ago, we have come to terms with it and accepted that they happened. we cant do anything about it anymore.
dont share your trauma online unless you know for a fact you wont be bothered if someone attempts to harass you or use it against you, this was to prove a point and let people know how fucking awful and traumatizing bullying can be from anyone.
DISASSOCIATIVE IDENTITY DISORDERS CAN BE CAUSED BY BULLYING.

Sorry for the racist anon
I dunno how it works for Native Americans, but In Australia, those with Indigenous bloodlines are considered First Nations, no matter their skin tone of ethnic features.
This is largely due to ethnic genocide and colonisation, which I’m guessing Native Americans also experienced(of course), so to see a Indigenous person cry that someone’s “too white” to be First Nations is sickeningly ignorant.
aha I appreciate that <3
And I actually can totally relate to that because my bloodline falls under First Nations labelling! Except instead of being Australian, I'm Canadian haha I don't know if it was the same in Australia but it was practiced for a long time here (I think up until the 80's?) that if you were a First Nations woman who married a non-First Nations man, you'd lose your status as a First Nations woman. So my grandmother, who was raised in a residential school from a very young age, lost her legal status after marrying a French man and that passed on to her children and even her grandchildren. So I actually wasn't legally considered First Nations until around my preteens/teenage years when we were able to contest our status and bloodline with the government and get it back. Colonization unfortunately runs very deep in my family across the generations going back to my grandmother, much of my father's side of the family are strictly Christian (like, I'm talking "women aren't allowed to wear pants" type Christian) and I was raised as someone who was visibly different in a community of predominantly French/Irish people, but no one had the tools or resources to tell me why I was different without giving me an extremely whitewashed version of events. It makes me really upset for past me because being different really alienated me from a culture I didn't understand and didn't want to bother understanding at the time - I didn't want to be First Nations, because being First Nations was "weird" and "different" and I wanted to fit in.
Thankfully now I'm an adult and I've learned that my culture isn't something to be ashamed of, but proud of. Sometimes it makes me a little sad to feel like a foreigner to my own peers, where I'm learning about traditions and norms that many already had from childhood, but it's been a fun learning experience and it brings me so much joy to reconnect to a history and culture that was almost wiped out with my grandmother. I'm glad I learned about my culture and what was almost taken from me before it was too late.
It's frankly why it really shocked me in that previous ask, hearing "eh, you're not brown enough to be Indigenous and you should stfu" because I was literally picked on and singled out - even by my own white-passing family members - for being brown and "the odd one out" growing up. Being called a "cracker" was definitely a new one for me, I've been called every other manner of name for being darker-skinned and having visibly native features but never a name for not being dark-skinned enough ?? Like man, that's wild. Unlocking some whole new side content right here LMAO

im a zutara multishipper though i often feel like a fake cause im not as hardcore as most of em.. i forgot all about that scarf scene its not as memorable as I'll save you from the pirates is that probalmatic imeaniguess but it was a fun scene in the cartoon ..
. so many zuts are celebrating over a silyl scarf scene but i can tell there's higher chances of hell freezing over than zutara and i dont look forward to them going again We were robbed when it doesn't happen. i love being a multishipper though cause i was very well fed with zukaang
im begging shippers not to bully gordon over shipping and it is interting to note how uncomfortable zutara makes the actors prob cause they recognize Kia is a teenager and Dallas is 22 year old.. theres hooplah over how the age gap is fine cause she' ll be 18 and theres a difference with 11/14 vs 15/ year old met guy when he was 20. of course kia is uncomforatble with zutara she met dallas aas a child. but here we got people treating her like she's an adult already.
the way kia is talked about creeps me out and i still think about the people telling me im a fake fan bec i think maybe we dont talk about kias age like shes not even real. i do enjoy the fanart comig from promo pics cause people are super talented but sometimes . it feels that people are shipping Kia/Dallas more than zuko/katara
Hi!! Honestly it's fine if you ship even if things for the ship are considered 'problematic'. I mean I ship Zukka and both of them have genuinely wanted each other dead or gone for a good chunk of the show lol.
I think, and I'm not going to generalize and say EVERY Zutara shipper, but one thing I've encountered as a pattern of difference between Zutara shippers and every other ATLA ship shipper, is canonicity. Zukaang, Zukka, Jetko, MaiLee, TyZula, Tokka, Taang, none of them are of the mindset that their ship will be canon so no one has any real problems with these ships. But a lot of Zutara shippers I've seen on twitter at least are convinced that Zutara was meant to be canon, and this inability keep fanon and canon separate is what's getting people's hopes up. And when it's made clear that these ARE separate, there's upset. I've seen the same thing happen with multiple other shippers and ships across fandoms.
Being a multishipper sounds fun anon, and I hope you're doing well <3
You're so right on the way people act about and treat Kia. Dallas has on interview said Kia is like a little sister to him, and yeah people keep forgetting that these two met when Kia was a child and he was an adult. It's why Dallas and Ian are fine when they talk about Zukka or can joke about "shipping" them.
I've noticed that people are doing the thing again(in 2024 dear GOD), where they keep waiting for young girls to be "legal" to be fucking creeps. People did it with Billie Eilish, the Olsen twins and a bunch of other female celebs and artists. I just feel terrible for her and Gordon, and I wish people would stop being weird about the actors and take a hint because Kia, Dallas, Gordon- none of them are being subtle about being uncomfortable about zutara. The only way they can be more obvious is plaster it on their foreheads. I didn't know about people talking about...ugh I can't even say it, Kia and Dallas like a ship GROSS. Leave Kia and Dallas out of it gosh. I got an ask a while back basically saying people will stop being mean to Gordon if Zutara becomes canon and I was flabbergasted. Like, you won't treat a child, with respect and dignity, because your 20 year old ship isn't real???
I've said this before, but people are just jumping to make Kia out to be more...older? People saying she looks like Gordon's mom(I will hunt these people on sight she looks like a child). And it's this, intermixing of sexism and racism and colourism (I've seen people be extremely disgusting about Dallas and Gordon too about their appearance. Pretty much everyone who doesn't fit into Western beauty standards are receiving awful hate- Thalia Tran playing Mai, Elizabeth Yu playing Azula).
People seriously need to get a grip and start learning to differentiate between fiction and real human beings or this is going to hurt EVERYONE involved, but especially Kia and Gordon. It doesn't matter if Kia is 18, she DOES NOT LIKE IT. DALLAS sees her as a sister, like i wish people would keep that in mind.

Dr. Jekyll and Little Harry - Jekyll and Hyde age regression fic concept (TL;DR at the end)
My first original J&H post, shooting into the dark here (also a crosspost from Reddit. Also also, I'm not in the age regression community nor do I know anyone adjacent to it, but this concept lives in my head rent-free and if anyone happens to be in the community and/or have some thoughts about this then all is welcome).
I have an idea for a reimagining of The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde where instead of Jekyll turning into Hyde, he’s hiding the fact that he age regresses in secret to cope with the pressure of maintaining his respectable public image. Basically, age regression takes the place of Hyde and the draught from the original story. Of course, since it’s not becoming of a respectable Victorian gentleman to act so childishly, even in private, Jekyll has to keep his little side under absolute wraps at all times, only it’s getting increasingly more difficult as life throws more hurdles his way.
With the main story during the canon time period i.e. 1885-1886, this further complicates things as age regression was virtually unheard of back then - at the very least, Jekyll has reason to fear getting thrown in Bedlam if people were to find out - and resources and information are pretty much non-existent. So, how does Jekyll find out about age regression at all, much less engage in it? I have a couple of ideas for his backstory, one that’s rooted in trauma, one isn’t.
Backstory 1 (trauma edition): Decades before the main story, both of his parents die within days of each other at his childhood home in Edinburgh, so the younger Jekyll has to travel back home to plan their funeral and manage their will and maintain the stoic image a man should when all he wants to do is break down and cry Then he enters his childhood bedroom, and sees everything exactly the way it was when he left it, and time seems to fold in on itself, and he feels like a kid again, and everything is easier, and his immense burden is momentarily lifted. Just before he leaves Edinburgh, he secretly squirrels away some of his childhood toys and trinkets and hides them in his home in London, just in case he ever needs to return to that little space again, and he does, more often than he anticipated.
Backstory 2 (non-trauma edition): He just does. No explanation requires, just that he regresses to cope with the stress of living. In this version of the story though, the death of his mother, his one remaining parent, is a plot point and one that also forces him to return to his childhood home to take care of affairs, though in this version he takes Utterson with him to help out with the legal side and for emotional support.
With the backstory out of the way, here's a rough list of plot points I'm considering adding to it:
Jekyll regresses into his little self, which he calls little Harry, voluntarily when he gets a few spare hours to himself. He shuts himself in his bedroom, gets out a few toys he has under lock and key, plays for a few hours, goes to sleep, wakes up in his adult headspace, goes about life, rinse and repeat. It's not perfect, like how he gets lonely sometimes in little space but knows it has to be that way, and the risk of exposure and public shaming is always looming over his head, but he deals.
A series of hurdles in life, including long, hard shifts at the hospital and travelling to Edinburgh to see his dying mother (again, this depends on which version of his backstory I go with), make it increasingly hard to control and hide his little space, and he suddenly starts slipping involuntarily as a stress response. The longer he tries to suppress it, the more fiercely it wants to emerge.
At one point, hit butler, Mr Poole, finds out the truth about his master's little space, and though he's new to it, he eventually becomes little Harry's caregiver while he regresses. Still, Jekyll remains paranoid about this information leaking out further and gives Poole and all his household staff hefty pay raises to keep their mouths shut, threatening them with severe consequences if they tell so much as breathe a word to a mouse about their master acting like a child in his spare time.
Meanwhile, similar to canon, his increasingly erratic and furtive behaviour, as well as a few Freudian slips, tip his friends off to something being odd, and they want to find out what's troubling him, so Mr Utterson and Dr Lanyon, like in canon, do some sleuthing and put together that it's definitely something to do with Jekyll's childhood.
In the final act, the truth comes out when Jekyll breaks down and confesses. Contrary to his fears, his friends take it with compassion and understanding, albeit being surprised at first, and they all communicate healthily to help him feel more comfortable as both versions of himself as well as swearing up and down that they're not going to throw him into Bedlam, nor does he belong there. Still, they all agree to keep it to themselves, since Victorian society is Victorian society and not everyone is as decent and understanding as they are.
So there's the basic rundown of the story, now for other point about how Jekyll's age regression works, as well as how he would handle it in the canon era:
Jekyll typically regresses between the ages of 4 and 7, just old enough to be by himself for a few hours. He could probably regress even younger if he wanted to, but he doesn't want to risk it with no one to watch him.
Jekyll keeps his toys and other little items locked away, and they're either bought by him in secret or squirrelled away from his childhood bedroom. In both versions of the story, however, his favourite toy is a rag doll that he painstakingly stitched himself, which he made because he was lonely in his little space and wanted a friend to hug and keep him company. If this were set in the modern era, I'd give him a stuffed toy rabbit; however, teddy bears weren't invented until 1903, so a rag doll is the closest period-appropriate equivalent thereof.
Other toys include building blocks, toy soldiers, a model train set, and a music box, as well as some children's books and a couple of jigsaw puzzles.
Since children's clothes in that era weren't terribly different from adult clothes and don't look that much more comfortable (and even if they were significantly different, they wouldn't have made children's clothes in adult sizes back then anyway), little Harry spends a lot of his time in nightclothes since they'd at least be more comfortable for playing in.
Little Harry doesn't eat a lot, since he initially only regresses for a few hours at a time in the evenings and can't ask for or get food from the kitchen without risking revealing himself, but when he starts being taken care of by Mr Poole, he's fed a lot of sweet treats and warm milk with honey. Also, his favourite is marmalade, specifically Keiller's marmalade, which was a really famous Scottish marmalade from back in the day.
Certain things that can make Jekyll feel the pull of his little space, aside from stress, are smells, especially foods, that remind him of his childhood in Edinburgh - things like marmalade, treacle, porridge, shortbread, and kippers.
TL;DR
Concept: A retelling of "The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" where Dr Jekyll hides his age regression as a coping mechanism. Age regression replaces Hyde, posing challenges during the canon era of 1885-1886.
Backstory Options:
Trauma-induced regression: Jekyll's parents' deaths lead him to discover regression during a visit to his childhood home.
Non-trauma regression: Jekyll discovers regression as a coping mechanism without a specific trigger.
Plot Points:
Jekyll regresses into "little Harry" voluntarily but struggles to hide it amidst life's challenges.
His butler, Mr Poole, discovers his regression and becomes his caregiver, while friends Mr Utterson and Dr Lanyon notice his odd behavior.
In the final act, Jekyll confesses, and his friends react with compassion, promising to keep his secret due to societal intolerance.
Details:
Jekyll typically regresses to ages 4-7 and keeps toys locked away.
His favourite toy is a rag doll, and other toys include building blocks and a music box.
He often wears nightclothes for comfort during regression.
Favourite foods like marmalade evoke vivid memories of his childhood in Edinburgh, triggering regression episodes.

SPIDEYPOOL AND THE AGE GAP
I was reading this amazing Spideypool fic but then the author decided to make a HUGE age gap between them and now I'm uncomfortable.
(DISCLAIMER:
This post is not the typical rant about the MCUs Spidey, I have no problem with him as long as you make sure he's in his twenties like Tom Holland himself. I am clarifying this because as soon as you mention Spideypool and "inappropriate" people are automatically driven to criticize Holland's Spidey. And I'm not doing that, thanks. In my opinion his movies are not the best, but for me he's an awesome Peter Parker -as in Peter the person, not the hero- Many spideypool fans have an uncontrollable hate towards T.H's Spidey and now that after NWH He's around Andrew' s Spidey age, I wonder what excuse people will use to hate him)
So... With that out of the way:
I am used to the age gap (as most Spideypool fans I guess), and when I read stories about them I know for a fact that there's a high chance (99%) that Peter will be between 21-25 (sometimes older) and Wade maybe 30-37 and that's fine.
-I am 24 myself and I have friends who are in their 30s and honestly, their lives are not as different from mine as one could think. There's a point in life when you're just and adult and that's it-
In very rare occasions Peter and Wade will be even closer in age in fanfiction.
BUT... when the age gap gets way too big then I get super uncomfortable.
And don't get me wrong, Peter is an adult in the fic I was reading (I wouldn't even consider to read it if he wasn't, that's disgusting), but still... There's a limit for me and when Fics surpass that I find it weird because in my mind, it doesn't matter if the younger person is legally an adult, the age difference can easily become predatory or at least a weird and inappropriate dynamic where the older person has way too much power over the younger one. And listen, there's nothing I hate most than people making Wade Wilson being predatory (especially because I LOVE HIM WITH A PASSION). Because Wade has a lot of flaws but being like that's not one of them.
Ugh, everything was fine, the fic was awesome but now it's ruined for me :(
I don't know what some fanfic authors think...
As I said, I don't care what Spidey you use (I'll imagine my own Spidey anyway) but, in fanfiction YOU as an author have the power to choose their ages and dynamics so WHY THE HELL are you choosing to write about them like that?
I just...
I don't Know... It pisses me off
Stop, please.
Use Andrew, Tom, Tobey or a made up Spidey but please for the love of god don't make their relationship inappropriate.

Thanks for replying. Now I am feeling weird about Dany having sex with Hizdahr and Daario. In Westroes age of being adult is 16. But it's still feel icky to me that a 15-16 yrs old girl is sleeping with grown ass men. I know that it's because of 5 yrs time scrap. It is still messed up. Especially when Dany was child bride to an older man before and was victim of rape.
(Replying to this ask, where using the text I estimated that Hizdahr and Daario were in their late 20s at the earliest and probably older)
I kinda get it with Hizdahr, as that’s wedding for peace in Meereen, and most marriages like that the bride and groom are incompatible somehow. I get that GRRM wanted Hizdahr to be independently rich, popular, and influential (as well as ambitious and self-serving), but he could’ve easily made him older and Dæny instead wed his pliable, more age appropriate son.
Daario, though, is a big no. There are no outside forces making Dæny fall in lust with him; quite the opposite, as she chooses to take him as a paramour despite his terrible conscience/lack of decorum as well as his age. As for her own age, GRRM says Dæny is still half a child at 16: “In the book, Daenerys alternates between being a young girl entering the world of sexuality and being a little girl. Sometimes she behaves like a child playing queen and other times like a fully functional adult in every way” so you’re not wrong for being disturbed by how young she is (or by what GRRM has to say about it). I get that as a dangerous yet powerful man who is best at war, he may remind her of Drogo, but as you said she was his child bride. As for my experience with teenage girls, I noticed that they are similar to Sansa when it comes to boys they like: they crush on boys their own age or a few years older, and consider men at age 22 unreachably old to the point of thinking it weird to even be friends with them. And teenage boys didn’t tend to go for younger girls either; I remember when a group of 14 year old girls tried flirting with 17 year old boys, the boys created a cruel song that ended with “I’ll do you when you’re older/Now go back to the play pen” (which was awful, but at least illustrates they saw the girls as children and not dateable). The point of talking about my experience is, the idea that Dæny would willingly choose a man possibly twice her age as a paramour (and even that Daario, though immoral, would even consider her attractive) just doesn’t seem realistic. I get that GRRM wanted Daario to be an independent, take-charge sellsword captain, but he could’ve had Dæny’s paramour be a junior officer of the Stormcrows maybe in his late teens. This type of pairing only got more common in the supplementary material, when 16 year old Rhaenys announced she would marry 37 year old Corlys Velaryon, and 16 year old Rhaena declared she liked 32 year old Corwyn Corbray the best of her suitors. In what world would girls, having just turned legally adults (but still emotionally kids) desire men twice their age with young kids already? So before these older men/teenage girl pairings were meant to be creepy and heinous (Jon Arryn/Lysa Tully, possibly Rhaegar/Lyanna, Petyr/Sansa, Jeyne/Ramsay), but if the “girl wanted it first”, that makes it ok? Let’s remind ourselves that’s the same line of thinking as those who defend statutory rape irl. I agree with you, it’s very disturbing that GRRM has decided to write the more sexually independent female characters that way, especially since he’s been accused of writing too much sexual violence against women in his series already.

If you search Krol Tredowaty in Polish you mighy find images of Baldwin IV. An early take. Very cool.
Oh, thank you for pointing that out to me! 💛
Have some lovely Baldwin IV cover illustrations for Zofia Kossak's 1937 novel The Leper King (Król Trędowaty):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm particularly fond of these two - I think the minimalist art style suits both the subject and our leprous boy quite well, and I like the design the artists chose for his cloak and veil.
I also came across a rather pretty Polish cover for the Bernard Hamilton book:
Tumblr media
My version of the Kossak novel (published in Germany in 1964), sadly, looks quite boring in comparison:
Tumblr media
And while we're on the subject: I have to admit I rather enjoyed Kossak's take on the events in the Holy Land between roughly 1176 and 1187. Of course, it is very old-fashioned in terms of its writing style, and far from historically accurate - but considering that it was published in 1937, long before most of the decisive academic works we know had been written, I think Kossak nonetheless did an admirable job with presenting the historical events in a way that is both comprehensible and somewhat entertaining. Being nitpicky about the details while having access to almost a hundred years' worth of further research would be a little unfair, in my opinion.
That said, I'm not sure this is the right novel for you to read if you are simply looking for some good sauce about Baldwin, since Kossak's portrayal of him is a bit of a mixed bag. In some instances, her Baldwin resembled the wise, gentle king we know from KoH very closely, but in others, he came across as whiny and wallowing in self-pity, acting much more childish than he should. (Remember: In that time and place, men were considered legal adults at the age of fifteen.) So, what I missed in Kossak's Baldwin sometimes was the inner strength that - according to the chroniclers - he must have possessed in spades. His mother Agnes of Courtenay, by the way, receives a similar treatment and is presented as an overweight clucking old hag, which is, unfortunately, the default characterisation she is given in older historical fiction.
Apart from that, though, The Leper King was a hoot. This may be just my particular brand of weirdness talking - I'm currently writing my thesis about medieval German literature, so go figure - but I unapologetically love those early literary takes on Baldwin & Co. Their differing characterisations of the various historical figures are always fun to compare, sometimes I merely get a good laugh out of them while other times I end up being surprised or even genuinely impressed. This novel, somehow, managed to pair the WTF-factor with moments that I found genuinely heart-warming and dialogue that was by turns either well-written or absolutely laughable.
To be fair, some of this can probably be chalked up to the translation because - let's face it - many things that sound fine in any other language become very odd, all of a sudden, when translated into German. Towards the end of the book, for example, Kossak covers the Hattin episode and thus briefly tells how Eschiva and her sons retreated into the citadel at Lake Tiberias when Salah ad-Din laid siege to the city. Upon hearing this news, Kossak's Raymond exclaims affectionately "Meine tapfere Alte!", which is best translated as "My valiant old lady!", and if that isn't the funniest shit ever, then I don't know.
What I also found particularly wholesome - though of course not historically viable - was the way Kossak depicted the relationship between Baldwin and Raymond. For some reason, she seems to think Raymond was Baldwin's uncle (when in reality he was his first cousin once removed), but the "favourite uncle & favourite nephew" dynamic she builds between them really works for this novel. As a Raymond fangirl, it was also quite refreshing to read something that showed him as both sympathetic AND ambitious and, for once, didn't make him do the whole "cackling evil relative who is after the crown" act.
In the German translation, Raymond repeatedly calls Baldwin fondly "Mein Junge" und "Mein Kleiner", which literally means "my boy" and "my little one". I'm not crying, you're crying. Baldwin, in turn, refers to Raymond as "Oheim", which is an old German term for "uncle" (specifically: the brother of the mother - imagine that: Raymond as Agnes of Courtenay's brother! 😂). Hence, while it is simply a genealogical mistake and historically speaking, of course, a cartload of bollocks, it nonetheless warms my heart that this novel chose to present us with the one and only depiction of a literal "Uncle Tibs".
So, yeah - this was a fun read.

Lop’s Shipping Discourse Statement !! ✨ ( TW ; Uncensored Mentions of Gr**ming / P*dophilia )
Just releasing this now, so there is less misconceptions about what I have said due to discourse lately. I’m in no way, calling anyone a predator for their ships, however, we have to understand that sometimes media imported from Japan is problematic in a sense, and I know, I know, I know that sometimes there are characters from various mangas, shows, games, etc. where the characters look young but they are legal adults.
I am a baby faced adult, however, I can fully say with confidence that while you personally aren’t a weird, disgusting creep, that doesn’t mean there aren’t any out there that do get drawn to media, using the reason that the character is legal to be creepy about certain aspects. I personally have been fetishized for looking young, even when I was a minor, and y’all have no idea how frequently I have heard statements such as “ I can’t wait until you’re legal “ - I literally had one of the men that groomed / assaulted me reach out not even two weeks after I turned eighteen, trying to get me to visit him states away without my family, that’s when I realized that it was over all an extremely wrong concept, especially since he still mentioned that I was pretty, asked if I still had braces ( something commonly worn on teenagers ). I don’t know what he was planning, but I know it wasn’t good. He wasn’t the only one to act this way towards myself as well. I’ve even had strange men approach me in public and immediately go with pickup lines talking about how “ young “ and “ innocent “ I look, and I know this sounds extreme and maybe even false, but I just want to explain why I have a stance that I do on this issue.
What I am saying is that when the age isn’t confirmed, and a lot of media from Japan has banked off of this concept, it’s a very dicey territory. You guys out there saying Yuma is a legal adult is whatever, it’s fine, for the most part, I’ve been joking, however, I can under that might not have seemed clear due to not using tone tags or being more explicit in the way I was speaking, and tone is always extremely hard to get across using text. For this, I apologize and I never wanted to make anyone feel uncomfortable in the fandom or make anyone feel as if I was directly calling them a predator. That was aggressive and uncalled for on my behalf, and I promise, I’m genuinely not a very hateful person, and those actions absolutely contradict with who I am. I want everyone to have fun here, enjoy being a part of the fandom on the internet, however, I also have my own boundaries concerning this sort of stuff, and I would like for us to reach a mutual understanding.
Just for my personal boundaries, I ask that nobody sends any ships involving Yuma and a confirmed adult in my inbox because it makes me uncomfortable personally, considering that I view him as a minor, and the game already puts him in situations and has him having discussions I find to be a bit icky already. This is more so because I have trauma relating to this sort of stuff and I would like my boundaries respected. I apologize again if I have violated or bullied anybody else over their views.
I’m definitely not saying to stop creating content, I still find the memes to be hilarious and everyone!s artwork thus far has been pretty good, and I’m glad to see people creating or consuming content that they enjoy, because that’s what being a fan is all about !! If your interpretation of Yuma is different than my own, then please, see it that way.
My issue isn’t with you, it’s with Kodaka, it’s with loli / shota bait, it’s with the passive sexualization of characterization belonging to minors, because I believe that it passively promotes the idea to objectify a minor in a light they don’t need to be objectified in. I hope you understand, just as I’m trying to be a bit more understanding with you all.
Regardless !! I appreciate the support and the feedback, I’ve had a ton of fun discussions and seen a lot of enjoyable content thus far. I don’t want anyone to give up, because this is basically the birthing stage of a fandom. Enjoy yourself, have fun, create and enjoy to your heart’s content. 💕✨🥂

Ahh it's a fairly embarrassing crush. Celebrity crushes on adults as a minor is perfectly normal, ask a parent and they'll tell you something like Johnny Depp or Leonardo Caprio. Thing is, a little toxic trait of mine is me genuinely thinking I can get with him.
He's four years older than me, a streamer, and goodness is he my type. What's absolutely infuriating though is there's an entire sub genre based off of crushing on him. I know some people reading this might know exactly who I'm talking about, and to that, no snitches 'til I feel confident to say lol!!
The reason why I genuinely think I can get with him is considering he moves around America a lot, so it'll be no surprise if he lands at my state. Hell, one of his famous friends was at my city!
He also knows who I am.. barely. But to me that makes it more exciting. He laughed at my chat log once, it was literally just 'eat the soap' when he was playing a game about a girl who's pretty traumatized and would eat anything. She ate one of those fake cherries on Christmas decorations once.
My auntie (not actual aunt, I don't have one. I call my friend my auntie) even made some sort of subliminal for me to see if it'll attract him in any way. I still use it, and whenever I use it he flies closer and closer to my state. Once I was painting him and I smelt brownies and clean clothes, which is a sign it's working!
Thing is, is that he's a gay man. No, I'm not a woman, I'm a transmasc, but there's a bug in the back of my mind screaming that I'll never be with him because I'm so feminine. I'm nearly two feet shorter then him, overweight, etc.
He was in San Diego recently doing meetups, which was closer then his last meetup. I won't say exactly where I am, but it's closer.
I have polariods of him, art prints of him, I have personal fanfictions my auntie wrote of me and him.
But then reality hits sometimes. I can't and will never be with him. He's a legal adult, four years older than me. I'm feminine. When I am the AOC he'll most likely be dating someone.
Which just drives me to become more obsessed.
I say the thrill of him not knowing me is fun, and that it's romantic, but it's insufferable. It's one of those cases where you go, 'not to self diagnose but something is definitely wrong here'.
It's horrible, but I love it.
Don't get me started on his close friends and the person he's in contact with the most.
I already made a promise to myself that if the day comes he's with one of them, things will happen. And I will make it known why.

Thank you for sharing this with me!!
My my... What a long confession this is!! I don't really understand how you feel, these behaviors are quite foreign to me. But I can somewhat understand where you're coming from. Parasocial relationships like this can feel very realistic.
However, as the responsible yandere enthusiast I am, I will still make some remarks about this. I'm sure you love him very much, but I think it's just nice to remember that you probably don't know the real him. Whatever he displays on social media and the internet does not reflect who he really is. Not only that, but I really don't think you should be putting yourself down for being too feminine. Cis men get away with being pretty boys all the time!! The issue is not your gender. If anything it would only be your age. Be careful with interacting with adults like that, you're putting yourself in dangerous situation. It should always be on the adult to not initiate something, but young people who show active interest in adults often get caught in bad positions by people who take advantage of that.
If I'm truly honest I think this is a bit much. I hate to be like this, but I personally think it's important to separate this level of obsession from fiction/hobby to reality. I have obsessive tendencies, I get jealous, I require constant reassuring, I have anxious attachment and I get clingy often. But there's a limit I put to myself and I only ever display these behaviours with people I know, trust and are okay with it.
But this person is an adult who is probably in a relationship. Maintaining an obsession will most likely just end up with you doing things you regret. I'm not sure what you mean with "things will happen" but I don't believe that's healthy for a young person like you to be saying. And I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume this friend of yours is not a legal adult as well. Because if so was the case, I don't see why they would be encouraging you to take meassures against this public figure being with someone else.
Hopefully you take this well. I do not mean ti offend you or disappoint you. But this seems a bit much to me. I enjoy yanderes, but I do not consider myself one. And furthermore, I am an adult. I know what I'm doing, and I know how to act. As a child, you should probably not dive into these topics just yet, and maybe not with such aggressiveness.
If you'd like to talk about this more or if you believe I misunderstood something, let me know!! But I'll mantain my opinion about this until then. Remember, all I've said is with the best intentions and I hope you understand me. I love you. :)

Speaking of kids though, I know Read started working for a shady guy when she was still very young and that he wanted to bring in a twelve year old as well. Was that something Izzy ever ran into back in the days, people employing children? Hornigold seems to have at least waited until they were legally adults (I think?) but I’m curious about how Izzy would react to kids doing the same things he did. /2
Hornigold did mostly wait for legal age (Eddy was 17 for a minute at the start) because it was easier to get people that were no longer being tracked by the system, not out of any moral higher ground. Also any younger than that and they're more of a liability then an asset.
I think Izzy and Eddy did see kids working sometimes, but it would've been rare. It just isn't practical for most jobs though some crews that did more break-ins might want someone smaller and lighter.
It's important to note neither Izzy nor Eddy considered themselves children when they started working for Hornigold. They had both been fending for themselves to some extent prior to recruitment and considered themselves adults.
Izzy doesn't even seriously revise that idea until he becomes closer with Read (Charlie too to some extent, but yeah obviously 12 is a kid, he recognizes that). When he really looks 21 (the age Eddy was when Izzy met them) in the eye from his current perspective and is like 'oh shit, wait a second'.
Read is charismatic in a way she doesn't full understand yet and sweet when it suits her and thinks she's the only one that knows the right way to handle things. She is so Eddy, but she's not a full-blown adult to Izzy's eyes now and that is a penny drop.
And it is to Eddy to, in her own way. When she meets Read, she's already been a stepparent for some time. They get that kids should not be doing crime etc. But there's a kid and then there's this 21 year old, dancing on stage, then punching dickwads in the face, stepping casually in front of knives, and after, she's asking if anyone wants them to make the dinner run with a wide grin like nothing can touch her. It's a bit of an awakening there.
In their own corners, with their own partners and support networks, they have to confront the idea for the first time that maybe they weren't grown yet. Maybe they collided as barely adults, still figuring out who they were and what they could be. And instead of getting that time to figure it out, they were recruited and given guns, booze and shitty coping mechanisms.

why did you say; “and i shouldn’t say that”? like honestly that makes it seem like as if you know you’re doing something wrong. but maybe you just meant it because of this fandom.
anyways i really don’t see how calling someone cute is all that bad. or bad at all. most of the time it’s said in an innocent way. people should go after real sexualizers though. i remember concerts finn has done and the main part of the audience was 20+ year old woman calling him hot THATS weird. and like not just recent ones but from when he was 13/14 too… people really just don’t see the wrong in it either. my mom keeps calling him attractive every-time she sees him which also makes me very uncomfortable. and i think this is why so many fans are so defensive because the cast gets sexualized so much. especially finn and millie.
Honestly, if I said "and I shouldn't say that" it's JUST because I knew people here would go crazy over me saying the word cute for a person they apparently still consider a "child". I knew people would misread my post and jump to conclusion. They always do. And hadn't been this fandom so toxic, I wouldn't have been defensive like this tbh. Because saying that Finn is "cute" NEVER meant an attraction in my book. He's just that, yeah. He's cute. In an endearing kind of way.
Now, I'm gonna walk on eggshells again because I know that my point of view doesn't correspond to the political correctness of this time.
I understand that 20 yo women calling 13 yo as "hot" can come off as weird because the word is inappropriate. I personally don't understand why or how you can call a kid "hot" when you're past 15 so yeah but to each their own, I guess. I mean, when I was 13 I had this HUGE crush on a 40 yo married guy and if stuff had happened, I would have been totally on board. (Nothing never happened). I've dated guys and girls sometimes 10 years older than me or 2 years younger... When I was about 19 I had crazy wet dreams on Cate Blanchett and Richard Grant... So, I don't care about this sort of thing. Age to me is a very vague concept that I don't understand and I think we're making too much of a fuss about it in this time period. But that's just MY opinion. And again in case I haven't been clear: I am NOT attracted to guys (or girls) younger than me, so 20 yos are way out of the scope. The only guy in the cast I find remotely attractive is Joe because he's my age.
As for your mom, I can understand you're freaked out. I used to be crept out too when my mom or her friends made comments on some of my male friends in High School. But then I realized that I was just making a transfer because I was scared of being sexualized myself and now that I'm older, I can see how harmless she meant it. I'm never gonna use the word attractive myself but I really think we demonize age too much, esp when the person is legally an adult. There is a huge difference between a woman having one emotion for one twenty year old in particular and a creep like Polanski who openly expresses his attraction for 13 yo girls. Even DiCaprio who only dates women before 25. I completely tolerate an isolated situation, so seeing a couple with an age difference will never shock me (and yes even if one of the person is what the US consider "underage" around 16 - 17 - only speaking of healthy relationships here), but when it becomes a trend, that's when it gets suspicious.
The problem today is that we put everything is the same basket and treat isolated situations as global deviances. A reminder that this obsession with "protecting" children is very modern. Kings and Queens used to marry at 13. The view we have today is unique on the scale of human history.
Anyway, I hope I will not be misread again.
EDIT because it's important: there is just ONE thing that I will NEVER tolerate. It's when we ship ACTORS. That's my one absolute limit. Esp when they're kids. That's disgusting. As for Millie, the stylists have sexualized her for years. She's 18 but on red carpets she looks older than me and THAT is not normal.

i propose to you:
gotg au where... most of them are human!
okay i don't have a real name for it... BUT. HEAR ME OUT. it's 1998. quill is taken out of the room after watching his mother die. he doesn't know what to do. so he runs. he runs as far as he possibly can, and before he knows it, he's completely lost. after a few hours, two men named kraglin and yondu find him, and give him a place to stay. they try and find his legal guardian, but they just... can't.
they aren't able to get him to speak for a couple of days, but when they finally do, they learn his name, and they learn he's from Missouri. and they live in Tennessee (yes, before you ask, this is specifically so i can make ONE joke if I ever write anything for this) so they're really confused. they ask how he got there before they saw him, and he reluctantly tells them. they partly feel bad for him, and the other part is just confused. because how could a boy of his size and age run all the way from missouri to the middle of tennessee in just a couple hours? let alone without stopping?!
now, at this point, he's only with one of them at a time. he's not really sure why, but one of them is always out. unbeknownst to him, these two adults he's put his life into the hands of are in a gang called the ravagers. they go out, one at a time, either to go shopping, deal with business within the ravagers, or try to find a way to get peter home. no one knows about peter but them. at least not yet.
eventually, they give up on getting peter home. of course, they don't tell him that. he wants to leave. as he gets older, he finds out about the gang and joins it. they don't do anything special, just small robberies and the occasional fight with other ravagers. whenever he has the time to get away from everything, he likes to sit under a tree. he named this tree Groot. Once, under the tree, he met a raccoon. he named it rocket and begged yondu to keep it. yondu pretended to hate the idea, and "reluctantly" said yes. this was hard, considering it was wild, but peter was hard to say no to.
sometimes he would walk around town growing up, and he met this girl named Gamora. well. he saw her. and thought she was pretty. and saw her other times too. he would always try and think of what to say if he ever talked to her, and he finally figured it out.
"are you from tennessee? because you're the only ten i see..."
"what the fuck"
after that... awkward encounter, they become friends, he shows her groot after they become close, and everything is great. (they're like 18/19 for this. yes, im pushing them closer together in age.) there's this record store they enjoy going to there. the only employee they ever see there, however, is this old man with tattoos all over him. he always wears a tank top and pants, he always greets them with the same "hello" when they walk in, and he never smiles. over time, they get to know him, and learn that he has a family. well, that he used to.
one day, they meet this girl named mantis. they both immediately think, "that's a weird name" "who names their kid after a bug?"
she's here to attend college nearby, and despite her lackluster social skills, she quickly befriends them. she just seems to know exactly how they feel all the time. one day, they propose going to her dorm to get snacks, because she somehow always has the best snacks with her when they have a fun day out. so they do, but her dad just happens to stop by for a visit, which makes mantis very tense for some reason. he introduces himself as ego, and said he was on his way to missouri, and just HAD to visit his daughter before he went over there. so gamora and peter introduce themselves in return, which seems to make mantis far more uncomfortable. ego takes a long look at peter, who only introduced himself by his first name, and says "quill?"
"uhh, yes, sir?"
"son of meredith quill?"
"...yes, sir."
"well, it seems like you and mantis here are related."
welllll that's all i have time to write, but that's okay. im probably going to turn this into a story anyway so why spoil what i have planned? thanks for reading y'all 🥹

You intrigue me. You never heard of or seen many of the cartoons of the 90’s/2000’s and you are part of the 1% who doesn’t….**gulp** care about the Spider-Verse movie? (even though many non-Marvel fans love it, it’s just that versatile)…
May I ask: What were your interests growing up? I had a typical media consumption childhood, so that’s all I know. What did you know growing up?
I suppose I am quite weird that way.
I mean I'm not very old so that probably contributes to my lack of knowledge of 90s/2000s stuff (i know names and stuff now but never actually seen the shows or even heard of them before a year to even a few months ago),
But it's also the fact I grew up without cable television and the media consumption I had was TVOkids, occasional bits of CityTV (I watched a bit of Modern Family sometimes), and CBC (I watched a Murdoch Mysteries thru the ages of 9-11). I LOVED CBC Marketplace and Murdoch Mysteries as a kid, I still do watch both of them to an extent and they're the two things that stuck with me.
I don't entirely know what "typical media consumption childhood" means to you, but I don't entirely think I had it very "typical", considering if I mention the shows I grew up with (Jack, Science Max Experiments At Large, Odd Squad, Wild Kratts, etc) I bet you'd know a few of them but certainly not all of them lol. Some of them I can't even find properly on google unless I actually try and some of the shows I've watched feel like a fever dream and I sometimes doubt I actually watched the shows simply because they're so unknown, even to Dr. Google.
I even watched some of the typical "adult" shows (well, shows that you don't find the average kid watching but aren't gore-y or swearing or anything like that), because TVOkids didn't go on forever and ended at 7pm on the dot and transitioned to normal TVO, which had boring stuff like documentaries and The Agenda (i still don't know what that's about, but I never stuck around to find out). Even CBC had a CBC Kids section but that went on for even less time than TVOkids so I rarely spent much time on that channel. So as a kid who only went to bed at 8pm you found other things to watch on the other channels on your TV (we didn't have normal streaming services so there wasn't even that lol).
I even watched a bit of Just For Laughs with my family because it was essentially visual comedy with 0 sound and my parents have english as a second language so it's something anyone could understand without needing to understand certain concepts. Just For Laughs is essentially just pranks that these hosts (they're always the same people) play on random street people and then they show them the camera at the end. It's rlly funny, check it out lol.
I literally never had access to channels like Cartoon Network, Disney, and your typical cartoon channels because being Canadian shuts it down almost immediately. Even now when I specifically try to access it legally (for free) I can't. I've only in the recent few years learned about the magic of piracy and getting what you want, when you want but otherwise I wouldn't have even been able to watch the shows I do love atm.
As a side note, I was also raised with Ukrainian/Russian shows like vinnie pooh (the russian one, i didn't know there was an english one until i was 11 lol) and cheburashka. Both of these even upon google search bring up core childhood memories and I do love them so much. Also buratino (the movie i think, don't remember whether it was cartoon or live-action) was something I remember watching (there's a certain song which I can recite with lyrics and tune is something I still carry with me as a very crystal clear memory).
Edit: Wow. The English names of the russian shwos I watched are very disappointing. Wow. Also here's another gem I remembered. One of my favorites growing up.
Even then I guess I'm not really... interested in most of the 90s/00s shows unless the concept is good (also bc I'm already watching so many shows rn I don't I'd handle more than I'm currently watching/planning to watch).
Anyways this answer turned out to be much longer than I thought this would be but that's basically the rundown of my very interesting media consumption. I am "Gen Z" by all accounts but even then I don't think my interests were very usual lol.

Experienced Estate Planning Lawyers Toronto, Ontario
If you suppose that you've got got been unfairly dealt with in an property of a father or mother or partner we are ready to advise you as to the availability of the Wills, Estates and Succession Act and any potential claim you might have in opposition to the estate. In addition to legal planning, parents with kids with special needs are also special needs trust lawyers encouraged to contemplate preparing a letter of intent. If you had been to suddenly die or turn out to be incapacitated, that alone would be traumatic in your youngster. The last thing he would need could be for his personal medical needs, routines, and day by day life to be thrown into upheaval as nicely.
Especially as time goes on might help to bridge gaps when communication breaks down and disagreements happen sooner or later. If ground guidelines are in place within the parenting plan it can present alternatives to create a compromise on circumstances which will come up. This ensures the most effective pursuits of your youngster continue being sorted. Most states’ Protection and Advocacy Organizations embrace a special education clinic or related program.
It is necessary that you just talk to those who you need to name as trustees earlier than you name them in your will. A individual cannot be forced to behave simply because she or he has been named as trustee in the special needs planning lawyers trust document, so it's best that they've agreed to behave as trustees beforehand. The age of the trustee is also something to consider, because the trust is designed to continue through the lifetime of the individual with disabilities.
A New Zealand lady born with developmental disabilities is unable to speak, stroll or see. In an effort to make her life better, her family determined to stunt her development and remove special needs lawyers her uterus. Philomena A. Barboza is a lawyer dedicated to providing you with authorized illustration that's aggressive, compassionate and inexpensive.
It is possible to reduce the overall quantity of tax owing with respect to revenue earned in a trust by "sprinkling" it among a group of beneficiaries who would then be taxed on the income at their own graduated tax charges. Our Strike & Phillips LLP estate clients are given peace of mind now knowing that their final wishes will be handled with respect and to their specific path. Planning forward helps avoid arguments and stress to loved one over possessions and belongings once you cross away. So it simply takes the leaders like you to freely admit I don’t know it all but I wish to.
We might help get you the legal authority to turn out to be authorized guardian over that disabled one who is now not a minor so as to now legally handle their medical and financial affairs going forward of their lives. Clients with very young kids who are very young are sometimes unsure how, if in any respect, the child’s incapacity might influence on their ability to reside independently as an adult. Since we don’t have a crystal ball to tell us the longer term, we are able to craft the trust in such a way that the trustee would have the discretion to collapse it if the child’s needs as an adult did not require the trust. Drafting a trust in a will is complex, and it’s imperative to work with a lawyer well-versed in trusts and the requirements of a special needs child all through their lifetime. Instead, dad and mom of special needs kids should set up a Henson Trust to “hold” the inheritance for the kid, without actually putting the assets in the child’s name.
It's a good idea to ask the person and make sure they agree before naming them in your will. You can even speak to the individual about how you want to your kids to be raised and how you desire to the money for use on your children's benefit. Get your interests special needs lawyer representedAs one of many largest law corporations within the Interior, our lawyers have a broad range of specializations, making certain that we have the expertise to competently and professionally represent you. In a Will, you leave directions on how to distribute all of your property.
But it's unsure whether they have been sent for their own protection or for different, more questionable reasons, for example, to work within the sex commerce, as couriers for drug dealers, or as indentured labourers in unlawful sweatshops. Apart from their lack of authorized capability, most minors lack the training and life experience to fend for themselves when they arrive in Canada. Some respondents went further, and instructed that it is necessary to give ladies the choice of having a feminine consultant. Speaking directly from personal expertise, they noted that, of their opinion, the female claimants they have handled could be equally nicely represented by men or by women, supplied the consultant is sensitive to those issues.
