So I've got my first ever cccc au (far from my first au in general tho lol) and I'm calling it my Summer Solstice au! And I'm very open to asking questions or giving your thoughts on how I could take it, I love getting input!

The premise is "what if Heart killed himself in the pit (around Just Apathy)?" and the resulting Issues.

In the immediate aftermath, Soul panics. Without all 3 of them, they can't merge back into Whole! Losing one of them didn't end it, so maybe if they all die? They'll merge? It's the only idea he can think of and he wants so desperately for them to be Whole, so he'll do it! But if Heart dying didn't kill them, there's no guarantee his death will kill Mind, so he has to kill Mind before he can die and try to fix things. Mind thinks that hinges way too heavily upon "maybe it'll fix things" so he's not exactly lying down and accepting it.

Soul grabs Heart's abandoned shotgun and Mind gets the heck out of dodge because a trident and shotgun are going to win against his chainsaw if it turns into a fight. From there, it becomes a matter of endurance. Soul can track Mind semi-easily, but Mind prepared better when he realized the sun wasn't setting (the moon's dead, after all). It's just the two of them wandering an ever-heating world, trying to stay alive until the other's dead.

I don't have a ton other nailed down yet but Mind does pick up a parasol during his wanderings :3

If you’re here for my thoughts on how you could take it… well, it literally just turned 6am over here and I haven’t even been up 15 minutes, so my brain still needs a little while to start working correctly.

But, I will say that I just can’t see Mind surviving long in this situation. If the world is constantly getting warmer and warmer due to never having any breaks from the sunlight, well… robots and heat don’t really tend to mix. It’s only a matter of time before he overheats- and Soul’s plan probably hinges on that. Good thing he found that parasol.

(Hell, even if he’s not a robot in this context, he’s also associated with the cold as well as the sun, and they rather famously don’t mix either. The poor boy’s gonna melt if he’s out in that for too long.)

As it goes with every new brainrot I have, it’s time for Kirby crossover again :)

Kirby in one piece! With one piece’s strong focus on dreams and found family, I thought it would fit for Kirby to be a pirate that dreams of sailing to the stars and beyond. Not that this is very achievable by normal means, but we know that it’s at least possible with Eneru and the Skypiea arc :D

Kirby has the devil fruit power of the copy-copy fruit! A paramecia activated by contact and only able to copy one fruit at a time. It can copy logias and paramecias with no problems, though actual ability using the fruit’s powers is up to Kirby to practice and figure out. Zoans can only be copied to partial transformations and cannot be awakened. Kirby doesn’t have much of a mind for haki but has a lot of latent conquerer’s haki that he doesn’t realize— it’s one of the reasons he’s able to make friends so effortlessly.

Meta Knight in this AU is a retired marine, between Captain and Rear Admiral level. He has a bat model zoan fruit that allows him to grow wings, and is a skilled swordsman. He’s retired from the marines but acts a his own separate party that is neither revolutionary, marine, nor pirate, keeping his own fleet known as the Meta-Knights. Their actions are similar to pirates despite not flying a Jolly Roger. They claim territory to protect and occasionally fight other pirate crews, and they claim no allegiance to the world government. They simply go where they are needed. Meta Knight will sometimes sail with Kirby on his small ship, the Popstar, just to keep Kirby out of trouble and make sure the ship is well stocked and well-maintained and able to be seaworthy.

Dedede is the king to one of the small countries that isn’t represented at the Reverie. That means he has a lot more freedom to do his own thing, including setting sail while taking a crew of Dees with him and leaving the country in the hands of some administrative Dees. Dedede splits his time between exploring and sailing and returning home to run his country, with the help of his trusty second in command, Bandanna Dee. Dedede has a penguin model Zoan fruit, and Bandanna doesn’t have any devil fruit but is proficient in coating their spear in haki. They’re the designated save-the-fruit-user-from-drowning person when they’re on deck.

Kirby’s crew changes because a lot of the people he recruits tend to have their own responsibilities. His crew is also full of people he’s beaten. It’s not uncommon for Kirby to sail alone, though he gets into more scrapes than usual with bad weather and rough waves. It can hardly be called a pirate crew, but Kirby has collected all the most heinous criminals under his banner and as such, the world government treats it as a threat.

bliss redesign based off one I made in my teens

thought process + various other bits and bobs under the cut

I was 15 and annoyed by everything that moved when this character first came out, so in my own head I was very much making a Point with this redesign. Hence, I made very minimal changes. I wanted to work with what was already there and basically just make the existing design more thought-through. Little breakdown ahead (keeping in mind i myself am very much An Amateur who doesn’t know shit and am just ranting about my opinions and i also haven’t seen a single second of the 2016 reboot so i don’t know much about Bliss to begin with)

1. one of my Biggest pet peeves with Bliss is that the powerpuff girls each have bangs that are simple, memorable, and iconic while also being unique from each other and being reminiscent of irl little girls hairstyles. It’s very neat and clever and I like it a lot

and then Bliss has this confusing jumble of shapes that looks like it changes in style halfway across her forehead

i have absolutely no idea what the intent is here. My only guess is maybe it’s meant to look weird on purpose like she was trying to cut it herself or something (I suspect it’s something like that since she seems to have normal looking bangs as a little kid from what I can see) but it doesn’t really come off that way if that’s the case. It just looks like baby’s first PPG OC where you Understand that it’s meant to be hair and that it is made out of shapes but have 0 understanding of hairstyle or character design in general. Heck I might have put this exact hairline on a character in the past at the age of like 8

So in my redesign she’s got 5 even notches across her bangs, not thee most exciting change but it does the job I think. It is pretty reminiscent of Blossom but they look different enough from each other that I wasn’t too worried about it

2. low-hanging fruit time, Bliss’s hair color is horrible on the eyes. I’m bewildered at the decision to do this, especially since there is just so much of it, I struggle to think of how she could exist in any scene without hogging all the viewer’s attention constantly. That said, I understand they wanted her to have an unnatural hair color to really signal that she is a Fresh new Teen character from the late 2010’s, which is. Whatever, that’s fine, so she gets purple hair now. I kept the streak for the same reason, especially since she’s got a lot of hair, so no harm in a little extra interest in there.

I also learned recently that her hair glows sometimes? which i did Not know when first drawing her but well i think the darker color helps anyway. It adds some contrast for when she’s normal vs when she’s glowing and makes the latter appear more,, idk threatening or powerful or whatever the mood generally is when she’s doing that.

I did re-add that toothpaste blue to her eyelids though. I like to think it’s also the color of her lasers. It’s a cute color, just not as like 70% of this character’s palette

3. real talk I was drawing this from memory and didn’t mean to change the way her hair flares out from her head. realistically I think the original is fine, maybe just a little boring but fine, so that part of the redesign was an accident. Only thing is, it’s in the exact same position in every screenshot I’ve seen? It doesn’t seem to whip around when she’s flying or anything which looks weird and probably looks weirder in motion, especially since it takes up so much space onscreen. Idk it’s a strange decision, esp since the original show liked to use the ppg’s hair to emphasize their movement, so I’d just bring more movement into her hair. I mean if nothing else it’d make her look cooler.

I also ended up making it shorter in my redesign—again, not really intentional, but I think it’s better that it eats up a little less of her silhouette

4. Her headband is largely the same, I didn’t hate the idea of her having an accessory, so I just toned down the colors. I’m not personally a fan of the powder blue and that pink heart is very bright and just doesn’t go with the rest of her (once again the color of her hair is doing it no favors). I also moved the heart over. Not necessarily needed I think, but I feel like it reads quicker as a headband and not a weird crown that way+introduces some asymmetry into her design that I think is nice.

5. my biggest gripe other than her bangs are her hips. I’m not against adding anatomy to this character design to make her read visually as older than the girls, but it’s so awkwardly done and distracting. I feel like it even interferes with her line of action more often than not (which is not helped by her unmoving hair).

Part of the issue is she still has the teeny tiny torso, just… with those square-ish hips slapped on, which makes her legs look all gangly and stretched out. I tried to balance out the proportions more in my redesign, as well as change the hips to a flared skirt. I think it helps differentiate her from the girls and still implies hips underneath, it just also functions as a less clunky transition from her torso to her legs.

Lengthening her torso also allows the stripe to look more like a belt above the skirt, which I think helps to sell her as “similar, but not the same” from the ppg

6. Her leggings(? Idk Im not a fashion person) aren’t a bad idea I think. like a more mature version of the girls’ stockings, but I think the white makes them look really distracting. It would help to make them a darker color I think, but since I wanted to keep them reminiscent of the girls’ socks I kept them white and just shortened them.

7. Not really sure what Bliss is wearing on her feet. I think they’re Mary Janes, but they’re drawn a bit different from the girls’ and I honestly think it’s too babyish a shoe for her to wear. I’m not sure what she’s actually wearing in my redesign either honestly, but the goal was just to make them look like the girls’ Mary Janes while clearly being something different.

8. Uh her signature color is something I’ve contemplated changing a lot but to be real I think it’s fine. I feel it was a very bad idea from a marketing standpoint because people were hype about Bunny and would obviously be mad they didn’t get her once the character actually dropped (and in the long-run she would just end up being overshadowed by the character everyone has already assigned that color to) but I’m personally not bugged by her being purple beyond that. If I were to draw them together though I think Bunny would have a more pinky shade of purple and Bliss leans more blue.

Loosely on the same topic, because of Bliss I’ve had a running headcanon that “only child” types of powerpuffs tend to come out purple. Kind of like how trios tend to have a red, blue, and green. It’s a fun little piece of fake lore to rotate around in my brain

Anyway with all that out of the way, here’s some redesigns I decided to have some fun with. Wasn’t being too precious about recognizability or simplicity or anything like that, but I did run out of steam partway through. There’s also one based off Whoopass Bell bc idk, why not

Finally, here’s some OCs I only ever drew once before out of a desire to give Bliss her own teen girl archetypes to form a team with. This is Bee and Beetle, who I’ll probably definitely forget about again immediately after posting this

#Kirby #Kirby fanart #my art #comic #Meta Knight #Nightmare #sorry this page took me so long to finish I’ve been really busy with grad school stuff and was at a conference last month #but it’s finally here and page five shouldn’t take me as long to finish as this page did #the comic is mostly centered around the game lore and not the anime lore but I did borrow a little bit from the anime #this might be a dumb question but do any other Kirby fans have voice headcanons for the characters? #by voice headcanons I mean what do you think they’d sound like if they had voiced dialogue #for Meta Knight and Dedede I think they’d just sound like they do in the anime since those voices are so iconic lol #I know that Nightmare also speaks in the anime but I don’t really like his anime voice #I’m showing that I’m a Trekkie with this lmao but my voice headcanon for Nightmare is that he’d sound like Ricardo Montalban #Montalban died in 2009 but he was famous for playing Khan in Star Trek he was so good in that villain role #but that was in the 1960s and 1980s so if you aren’t a Star Trek fan you might not be familiar with him #he also plays the grandpa in Spy Kids though and I think he was also in Kim Possible #I actually see a lot of parallels between Kirby and Star Trek lol but maybe that’s just me and no one else sees it #I’m developing an idea for a Susie redemption arc comic that I want to draw when I finish Knightfall in Dream Land #and if I do eventually draw it it’s going to be very heavily influenced by Star Trek/there will be lots of Star Trek references in it #Planet Robobot as a game basically is just a Star Trek episode lmao it has the same plot as every Borg episode from Star Trek #so I think referencing Star Trek in a comic centered around Susie would make sense

Eddie's exhale sounds punched out of him. “Buck-“

Buck shakes his head. He distantly thinks he might be very angry. “Why do you get to be sad? You almost died so many times right in front of me and I just had to hold that by myself because you didn't want to talk, but now I'm the one who kicked the bucket you get to be gentle with me?”

Eddie still looks winded. “But we weren't- back then we weren't-“

Buck’s breath comes out in an awful little scoff, and that distant version of him who’s silently watching the little shit fit he’s throwing feels guilty for the hurt on Eddie’s face. “All that was a fucking waste then? Years of you being my best friend doesn't count, because now you decided we're playing house? Eddie’s ready for it so we’re getting married?”

Eddie sinks back in his chair a little. “You said yes,” he says with a helpless little shrug. All you ever want to do is help Eddie, distant Buck reminds him. Oh well.

“You didn't even really fucking ask,” he spits, looking away so he doesn’t have to see whatever expression is on his face now.

Eddie’s chair pulls back. “Sorry I didn’t hire violins.”
