Okay so related to that reblog I did from @forgedobsidian but
fr an underrated element of the plot of Ragnarok is how everyone--EVEN FATE ITSELF--interprets prophecy using limited information and their own biases, and how knee-jerk responses to that only make the situation worse. It's actually wild on a replay how right but not right literally everyone was and how the parts where they weren't right completely changed the outcome. Had to put this under a cut because I am once again screaming for too long about God of War but think about it!!
Atreus is depicted holding a father with a marred eye in his arms as that father is badly injured and possibly dying, and he seems upset. Everyone assumes it will be his own father (and to be fair, Kratos has been killed like. so many times). It's actually ODIN, the All Father, not technically "dying" but getting soul pokeball'd, and Atreus is upset because his offer of redemption was shut down. Atreus is seen alone at the end of the mural prophecy not because he lost his father, but because he has decided to go his own way in the world.
War god with a spear will lead the armies at Ragnarok. Assumption is it's Tyr, because that's the cultural knowledge everyone has. NO ONE can guess that it'd be Kratos, who leads them into Ragnarok with the spear that Brok makes for him.
Surtr and Sinmara create Ragnarok. This is depicted as a romantic embrace that causes them to meld, leading Atreus to assume that both of them are needed to be there. In the end, their love DOES create Ragnarok, but it's Surtr's sacrificing himself so Sinmara doesn't HAVE to die and the fact that they literally gave each other their hearts that does it, not a crystal gems fusion dance.
And again, people's knee-jerk reactions to the interpretations are at best a misunderstanding, and at worst actually cause the situation to happen, possibly while creating new and exciting problems in the process. Atreus and Kratos nearly have this massive rift in their relationship due to the whole "fate says Kratos is going to die" thing. Atreus trying to find Tyr to fulfill the Tyr-at-Ragnarok prophecy lets Odin right into their hideout, and arguably leads to Kratos being in the situation where he's the war god with a spear (Brok's death being a big part of the push towards them starting a war with Asgard). And Freya's helicopter parenting did cause Baldur to die a needless death (his hatred of her and inability to let that go being a big part of what gets him killed).
It is only in the circumstances where people choose to just calm the hell down and live their own lives, trusting in themselves and others rather than fretting about prophecy, that the outcomes are fairly happy. Faye not telling Kratos about his and Atreus's fates gave them that freedom for a long time. Kratos and Atreus agreeing that they make decisions for themselves mends the rift between them. Freya was right to point out that Kratos didn't have malice in his heart when he killed Baldur because it does kind of change the outcome. It means that even if he's the guy who keeps ending up in situations where he has to kill gods, he's not a monster. Which is the big important thing here in terms of his actions, his character development, everything. If he had let himself become convinced again that he was a monster, who knows where that might've taken them? Nowhere good, that's for sure!!!
It's like there's this distinction in the worldbuilding between prophecy and fate. Prophecy is set in stone, and everything we see prophesized does happen. But there's not really such a thing as fate. Just people who use past outcomes and behaviors to try and interpret prophecy. And if they don't take into account that people can change, or that they might not have all the facts, then they're inevitably going to miss what's really being shown.

HELLO WIFI nightly thoughts anon again, first of all wish you to enjoy your vacation! Then I love reading so much about Marine and Arlecchino it was soo sweet ! I'd like to know more about Marine story if possible, you mentionned she can't see and has artificial skin, is she a puppet similar to Scaramouche and got broken or was she created blind ?
ohohoho you're encouraging meeeeeeee eheheheheheeheh :]
Marine is sort of like Scaramouche in that she's an artificial creation of an archon- she's specifically referred to as a "doll" at several points rather than a puppet
she's a creation of Focalors specifically to help guide Furina and keep her company (and on the right path), since Focalors knew that false godhood is a very long and lonely process, and thus Marine has a kind and motherly nature even if she doesn't completely understand it which often make young children and Melusine feel safe and protected around her. Focalors specifically made her without sight, since she wanted Marine to embody the phrase "justice is blind", and ever since then Marine has been looking after Furina and helping her and Neuvillette run Fontaine, which is why i said she's considered third in Fontaine's hierarchy
a few things about Marine's body specifically: -she has visible ball joints like a porcelain doll, and her skin has the texture of porcelain as well -the areas around her joints are decorated with wave-like engravings -the energy used to power her comes from Pneuma-Ousia reactions inside her body -her heart is made of the purest chunk of Condessence Crystal and is extremely important. if her heart is sufficiently damaged, Marine will shut down. it can be replaced, but crystals of such high purity and size are extremely hard to find -because of what she's made of, Marine's body can crack and limbs can break off, but those can be repaired -Marine can't see anything, not even light, and her lack of a need for sleep means she takes many nighttime walks -does not have a Vision, her affinity with Hydro is natural thanks to Focalors -her Arkhe is Ousia -she rarely opens her eyes since her irises and pupils are completely white and she thinks humans might find it frightening -she is waterproof and spends a lot of her limited free time underwater :]
Marine is the one who taught Furina how to fight (just in case!) and uses a rapier that's part of her parasol (the umbrella part is actually water that's being held in place). she was also fairly lonely due to Furina pushing her away and most of Fontaine's citizens finding her dependable but unnerving but has made more friends since Fontaine became more accepting and less formal over the years- she and Navia are close and Neuvillette is basically her best friend for life, while Wriothesley holds her in high regard because she occasionally does work for the Fortress. Marine's usually calm and gentle, but she's unafraid to become violent if anyone threatens her loved ones, and is very proficient at using her sword
and yes, Arlecchino knows. she's one of the only people who knows of Marine's nature, other than Furina and Neuvillette
(please ask me more about Arlecchino and Marine i go insane about them every day)

Perhaps the death of Balerion during the reign of Viserys I represents how the Targaryen family lost sight of Aegon's dream around that time. The Targaryens supposedly united all Westeros under their rule to defend against the threat of the Others. But during the Dance of the Dragons, and the many Blackfyre rebellions that followed, the Targaryens became preoccupied with which individual sat the Iron Throne. Balerion's death is perhaps symbolic of the Targaryen family becoming more interested in destroying itself (for nothing) than in looking ahead towards the imminent threat.

- the oratrice has to play a role in furina's plan to save fontaine. the original sin committed by egeria is probably what furina, as the hydro archon, is being sentenced to. could there be a way for furina to "separate" herself, sentencing part of herself to death and entrusting the future of fontaine's justice to another? (i'm still stuck in the three thrones so fragmentation of the self is something i think has been hinted at) could this mean the end of the oratrice itself?
- neuvillette looked like he was hovering above the entire city while using his powers. we know he doesn't have his full sovereign powers so if he is the one stopping the flooding, what power is he using? could he be making use of the hydro gnosis?
- the oratrice has been accumulating energy and power as a means to an end, it converts fontaine's people's belief in justice into indemnitium. could this be the power that will save the nation?
- remember nicole's quote after scaramouche deleted himself from the irminsul? "unfortunately, the fate of teyvat cannot easily be changed. perhaps a god may have a slim chance, but for anyone else... who can say. [...] history does not change easily, but human hearts can. believe your own eyes. only that which you see is true. what is unseen is but an illusion." this ties with the themes of fontaine a bit to well for it not feel like some sort of foreshadowing. nicole also appears in the trailer saying" the prophecy... yes, what has been prophesized will be fullfiled." coincidence? i don't think so. arlecchino and furina constantly talk as if everything is teatrichal and the name of this quest masquerade of the guilty also implies a false show. do i know what this means exactly? no. but you can't tell me this isn't big and related to the way atonement will be reached regarding the sin tainting fontaine and it's people.

The boys are over at Bobby's and he's busy with hunters. The two are bored especially since Bobby doesn't want them helping, saying they're messing up his process. In reality he just doesn't want them helping when they should be acting like teenagers. Rather than fighting others demons. They end up outside, bored having to be quiet in the house, the two go outside where Dean finds a stick and tries to fight Sam with it. Sam finds a better stick and wins. So Dean throws his down and Sam decides to do the same thing. And they just keep adding sticks to the pile. Until they have a sizable pile and Dean wants to light in on fire, and Sam's supposed to say no, that's a bad idea. Instead, Sam takes the initiative to find an area where they actually can do that. Even grabs an accelerator for it. The two get it to go and they found a couch that Bobby had lying around and bring it over. Dean challenges Sam to another duel and once again, Sam wins again, this time using the couch to his advantage. The two chill for a bit and watch as the fire does some cool things. Unknown to them it was Sam's doing. Bobby comes out to see what they're doing and shakes his head, they've got a whole set up. Figures. He goes back in and hands them some things they can use to cook up some food, gave them some hotdogs and s'mores. Gave them some other things he already made. When he's ready to leave them alone, the two ask where he's going. He says to get a chair, and to send hunters over to Rufus. He can handle some of the workload for once. And the three are out there, the boys messing with each other, Bobby trying to avoid laughing at their antics not wanting to encourage them. Not that they need encouragement to do so. Eventually Dean knocks over the emergency water, and they end up going inside, but it was one of their favorite memories.
And before everything went to Hell with well Hell, when they're over at Bobby's, and Castiel is around, so is Adam. Sam needs air and ends up outside, and sees the area they did that before. Sam finds a stick and when Dean rounds the corner, he challenges him to a fight, and Dean quickly gets with the program and they have a stick fight. Castiel watches with worry not realizing the two are goofing around. Adam is watching with Castiel, having nothing else to do besides being threatened like Dean if he leaves. He laughs seeing Dean falling on his ass, and the two realize they had an audience. Sam nudges Dean and he sees the pile and the two look at each other before racing off to find more sticks. Throwing them in the pile, some at each other. Bobby come outside and sees, shakes his head. He heads back in and starts pushing a couch out, Castiel frowns and Bobby tells him to help him with it. So Castiel does and they realize Adam isn't where he was. Instead he's with Sam and Dean, and the three are fighting with sticks. Leaving Bobby and Castiel to bringing out the seats that they were unaware about until the fight was over, Sam was teamed up against and Adam ended up winning when Dean had his guard down. They added the sticks to the pile and set off to find more, the more the better. Bobby left to prepare some food, getting some drinks out as well. They started the fire and goofed around, getting Adam involved in their antics. Acting like kids. Castiel watched in fascination, unaware they were plotting against the angel. He realized when they had surrounded him and threw him a stick. That's how they got an angel involved in a stick fight, who unsurprisingly held up against the three vey well and won. Bobby saw outside the window, they would manage to do that. And came out with the goods. And that got the Winchesters to chill out for a bit. Bobby getting his own spot, Dean sitting on the other side, Adam next to him, Sam one over and Castiel sitting next to Sam. They made their food, passed along things each other needed. Sam made Castiel a s'more and they all agreed he had to try it. So Castiel did and got messy. That wasn't the only food shifted towards him. It was nice, almost like family. But after some time it calmed down, and rather than Dean kicking over the emergency water, it started to rain and everyone ran inside. Taking turns showering to warm up. And Dean went missing. That's when Hell broke loose.

The times Buffy saw Angel's vamp face for the first time in Buffy (because she didn't have her memories in "Halloween," of course).
Bonus: The first Boom AU:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
#buffy the vampire slayer#parallels#bangel#angel#buffy summers#boom#btvs#buffy#i'm not always the biggest fan of the boom aus. or how they've handled the buffy property. but their first time at tackling a buffyverse au#was probably my favorite for quite a few reasons#angel the series#ats#like i feel like these buffy and angel au comics had some nice things going for them at the start. and it felt like the author(s) new what#they knew what they wanted to do with them at first. though eventually it did feel like they were just throwing things at a wall. yeah#and i do love what they did with kendra. that's a big selling point for me. maybe one of the biggest#and i'll admit that i appreciate this comic for. you know. actually having buffy and angel interact and somewhat a part of each other's#lives (like they should be). and based on the one prophecy it looked like there was eventually going to be more before both comics ended/#were canceled. unlike most of boom that ignores the buffy and angel dynamic completely that honestly hurts them#also i felt like the angel comic at least one time tried to do one metaphor story before dropping it#and that's at least more than any of the others#but the soul link stuff was interesting. some of the stuff with xander and willow was at first (partly because of the soul link) before it#got dropped so fast with xander dying so soon#and more should have been done with rose#and even though. logically. having three slayers is over-powered i was still okay with that fan-service in this comic#especially since it gave us kendra who will always deserve better (some may say they should have just did an au without faith then). but sh#and i like the idea they came up with to have all three slayers without any of them dying#that when buffy first went to the hellmouth. and then kendra. it activated the next slayer#because the hellmouth is hell. and that would confuse the slayer line and make them think the current slayer is dead and thus maybe the nex#one should be activated? anyway

ok I have like an idea but. I don't know.
I really really despise the Tribe in the canon. I hate how they tried to make an Indigenous American culture and used every last droplet of stereotype they could. I hate how they could make another cat group and while they did not make them evil, the writers made them incompetent and clearly worse than the Clans. I hate how everytime someone's gotta fix something it's the Tribe asking the Clans for help. I hate most TNP books just for that reason.
.... but it's iconic. It's important for a lot of arcs. I can't just axe it away completely...
BUT I also needed a way to introduce Skyclan that was different from the other books, especially since Firestar cannot go and recreate it for a lot of reasons, and I wanted Sandstorm to go instead, but it needed to be after Squirrel and Leaf were a- born and b- old enough to survive without their mom for months. Also I am anti Lake-Skyclan not because I don't want them there, but because it feels more interesting to have a Clan separate from the others.
So here's the idea: The Skypoints, a group hailing from ancient Skyclan (as ancient as it gets) dealing with the curse of a Rat King. They live in a gorge close enough to a town, and twolegs are common to see because there's a lot of small trails. They use the naming system from the ancient Clans, the rule being that they get named after what color thay are. Roles are chosen at birth, but the only role that is different from Medic or Warrior is Deputy. Yes, Deputies are chosen at birth, you can imagine the main problem from this decision. This sets up a few things: -they need help from someone with Skyclan blood (Feathertail) -the mountain lion is gone, but there's a threat that is just as big because the rats try to overtake the gorge constantly. -their numbers are dwindling after a surge of rats and a bad epidemic happening at the same time. I kinda want to have the Shadowclan journey cat (that is not Tawnypelt) get flashbacks from the Carrion Disease, before realizing these rats do not carry it. -in this moment Squirrelpaw gets the idea: "why don't you ask for help from the kittypets? My dad was one and he's become a hero." -recruiting time, I wanna make it clear that not everybody's sold on living with the Skypoints, either because they're stupidly aggressive towards others (Clear Sky propaganda) or have family and friends back in town. -Dappled Leaves comes out with a compromise (she's Leafstar, but not yet considered a great match for a leader because she's not Clear Sky-esque and also a Warrior) that those who might have families can either bring them with, even if they're not able to fight, or go back after helping during the day. Daylight Warriors babeyyyyy -may or may not begin a small moment of civil unrest, that does not tip into a war just because there's a bigger problem at the moment. -in the end, Feathertail dies to the Rat King while slaying it, but I wanna make it clear she's not the only one to be honored in death. I want something like seven or eight cats to die. Stormfur gets a crush on Cherry Tail, and in the Great Migration will be staying behind... alongside Sandstorm, who's found companionship in Dappled Leaves hehe. Leafpaw gets the idea that Starclan might communicate with them through water by seeing the Starcave, where the Stoneteller, the eldest medic, goes to commute with Starclan. Also here medics are a lot more than the usual, and some of them have families (hint hint) -Sandstorm and Dappled Leaves become, through omens and Starclan's approval, Leaders of the new Skyclan, and are named Risingstar and Shootingstar (read one of my previous posts about the renaming in the #duck! tag). Skyclan becomes the first clan to have two leaders, but also begins to make various pairs of deputies for that reason. This sets up Sharp Claws and Darktail as a deputy pair later on hehe

I stopped playing sky ages ago and i STILL get the urge to play every time smth cool happens or I see a fun post,, it's still such a pretty game with really fun parts of it but also like. It gets worse every update and tgc just sucks So much. It's so sad because I remember old sky and how much fun it was and how social and exciting it felt. I remember exploring the new areas and everything had this sense of mystery and intrigue, even places I'd been through every day for months. I remember hugging my friends in sky and feeling comforted like I would with a real hug because it was so easy to be immersed and enjoy myself!!! But now even if I try and ignore what tgc does, every time I'm on sky the experience is just. Tainted. I can't enjoy it anymore. It started back in the season of the little prince and it's only gotten worse since then. I still have a love for sky but its not for sky now its for sky back during sanctuary and prophecy and I wish we could go back to that
