GIFMAKING TUTORIAL: PHOTOPEA (for Windows)

DISCLAIMER: English is not my first language and I'm not an expert on what I'm going to discuss, so if anything's unclear feel free to drop another ask.
1. SCREENCAPPING -> PotPlayer (the one I use) or MVP or KMPlayer
INSTALL PotPlayer (tutorial)
Play your movie/episode and press Ctrl + G. The Consecutive Image Capturer window will pop up. Click Start to capture consecutive frames, Stop when you got what you needed.
Where it says "Image Type -> Format" I recommend picking PNG, for higher quality screencaps.
To access the folder where the screencaps are stored, type %appdata% in windows search, open the PotPlayerMini64 folder (or 32, depending on your system) and then the Capture folder. That's where you'll find your screencaps.

Admittedly MVP is a lot faster but I prefer Potplayer because it generates (at least in my case) higher quality screencaps. MVP kind of alters the hue and it made it harder for me to color my gifs. Still, if you're interested in how to use it, I recommend this tutorial.
As for KMPlayer, every tutorial out there is outdated and I couldn't figure out the new version of the software.
2. GIF WIDTH/HEIGHT, SIZE LIMIT, EZGIF OPTMIZER
At this point you should already know how big your gifs are going to be. Remember the ideal gif width(s) on tumblr are 540 px / 268 px / 177 px. These specific numbers take into account the 4 px space between the gifs. No restrictions on height. Here are some examples:

You can play around with the height (177x400, 177x540, 268x200, 268x268, 268x350, 268x400, 540x440, 540x500, 540x540 etc) but if you go over the 10 MB limit you'll either have to make your gifs smaller/delete some frames.
OR you can go on ezgif and optimize your gif, which is usually what I do. The quality might suffer a little, but I'm not really (that) obsessed with how crispy my gifs look, or I'd download photoshop.

Depending on the gif size, you can decrease the compression level. I've never had to go over 35. It's better to start at 5 (minimum) and then go from there until you reach your desired ( <10mb) gif size. Now that I think about it I should have included this passage at the end of the tutorial, I guess I'll just mention it again.
3. LOAD YOUR FRAMES
File -> Open... -> Pick one of your screencaps. The first one, the last one, a random one. Doesn't matter. That's your Background.
File -> Open & Place -> Select all the frames (including the one you already loaded in the previous passage) you need for your gif and load them.
(I recommend creating a specific folder for the screencaps of each gif you're going to make.)
WARNING: When you Place your screencaps make sure the Crop tool is NOT selected, especially if you've already used it and the width/height values have been entered. It will mess things up - I don't know why, could be a bug.
You can either select them all with Ctrl+A or with the method I explained in the ask: "when you want to select more than one frame or all frames at once select the first one, then scroll to the bottom and, while pressing Shift, select the last one. this way ALL your frames will be selected".
WARNING: Depending on how fast your computer is / on your RAM, this process may take a while. My old computer was old and slow af, while my new one can load even a 100 frames relatively fast, all things considered. Even so, I recommend ALWAYS saving your work before loading new frames for a new gif, because photopea might crash unexpectedly. Just save your work as often as you can, even while coloring or before exporting. Trust me, I speak from experience.
Now you can go ahead and delete the Background at the bottom, you won't need it anymore.
4. CROPPING AND RESIZING
Right now your screencaps are still smart objects. Before rasterizing and converting to frames, you need to crop your gif.
Technically you can rasterize/convert to frames and then crop, BUT if you do it in that order photopea will automatically delete the cropped pixels, even if you don't select the "Delete Cropped Pixels" Option. Might be another bug, unclear. Basically, if you crop your gif and then realize you cropped a little too much to the left or the right, you can go ahead, select the Move Tool (shortcut: V) and, after selecting ALL YOUR FRAMES, move them around on your canvas until you are satisfied. You won't be able to do this if you rasterize first and then crop, the excess pixels will be deleted. I don't know why, I found out by accident lol.
CROPPING
(Cropped pixels: the gray/opaque area outside of the selected area. That area disappears once you press enter and crop, but the pixels are retained, so you can move the frames around and reposition them as you like. In this case I could move the frames to the left and include Silver's figure [curly guy in the foreground] in the crop)

After deleting the Background, you will need to select all your frames (using the Shift key), use the C shortcut on your keyboard to choose the Crop tool. Or you can click on it, whatever's more convenient. Once you do that, a dropdown menu is going to appear. You need to select the "FIXED SIZE" option, as shown in the following screencap.

Once you do that, you can type in your desired width and height. Do not immediately press enter.

Your work area should now look like this. Now you can click on one of the white squares and enlarge the selected area until the edges are lined up. You can then move it around until it covers the area you wish to gif.
WARNING: to move the big rectangle around, you're gonna have to click on a random point of the work area, PREFERABLY not to close to the rectangle itself, or you might accidentally rotate it.

See? When your cursor is close to the selected area it turns into this rotating tool. Move it away until it reverts to your usual cursor, then you can start moving the rectangle. Press Enter when you're satisfied with the area you selected.
RESIZE
This isn't always necessary (pretty much never in my case) - and it's a passage I often forget myself - but it's mentioned in most of the tutorials I came across over the years, so I'd be remiss if I didn't include it in mine. After cropping, you'll want to resize your image.

This window will pop up. Now, should the values in the Width and Height space be anything other than 540 and 400 (or the values you entered yourself, whatever they might be) you need to correct that. They've always been correct in my case, but again. Had to mention it.
5. RASTERIZE & MAKE FRAMES
Now that your screencaps are cropped, you can go ahead and convert them.
LAYER -> Rasterize (if you skip this passage you won't be able to Sharpen (or use any filter) on your frames at once. You'll have to Sharpen your frames one by one.
Photopea doesn't feature a timeline and it's not a video editor, which makes this passage crucial. When you select all your smart objects and try to apply a filter, the filter will only by applied to ONE frame. Once you rasterize your smart objects and make them into frames, you can select them all and sharpen them at once. Unfortunately this also means that you won't be able to - I don't know how to explain this properly so bear with me - use all smart filters/use them in the same way a photoshop user can. For example, you can sharpen / remove noise / add noise / unsharp mask... but you can't act on those filters in the same way a photoshop user can. When you work on smart objects you can change the blend mode - which is critical if you decide to use a filter like High Pass. If you simply apply a high pass filter on photopea you won't be able to change the blend mode and your gif will look like this (following screencaps). Or rather, you will be able to change the blend mode by clicking on the little wheel next to "High pass" (circled in green in the 2nd screencap), but you'll have to apply the filter to each frame manually, one by one.

Then you can rasterize/make into frames, but it's extremely time consuming. I did it once or twice when I first started making gifs and it got old pretty soon haha.
Layer -> Animation -> Make frames. This passage will add "_a_" at the beginning of all your frames and it's what allows you to make a (moving) gif. As I said in the ask, if you skip this passage your gif will not move.
6. SHARPENING
Some people prefer to color first and sharpen later, but I found that sharpening filters (more or less) dramatically alter the aspect of your gif and already brighten it a bit (depending on your settings) and you may end up with an excessively bright gif.
Now, sharpening settings are not necessarily set in stone. The most popular ones are 500/0.4 + 10/10, which I use sometimes. But you may also need to take into account the quality of the files you're working with + the specific tv show you're giffing. I've been using different settings for pretty much every tv show I gif, especially in the last couple months. Some examples:

AMOUNT: 500% RADIUS 0.3px followed by AMOUNT: 20% (or 10%) RADIUS 10px
You'll just need to experiment and see what works best for your gifs.
Some gifmakers use the UNSHARP MASK filter as well (I think it's pretty popular among photopea users?) but it makes my gifs look extra grainy, makes the borders look super bright and it clashes with my coloring method(s), so I use it rarely and with very moderate settings. Something like this:

Again, depends on the gif and on what you like. I've seen it used with great results by other gifmakers!
REDUCE NOISE
Sometimes - and this is especially the case for dark scenes - your gif may look excessively grainy, depending on how bright you want to make it. Reducing noise can help. Keep it mind, it can also make it worse and mess up the quality. BUT it also reduces the size of your gif. Obviously, the higher the settings, the more quality will suffer.

These are my standard settings (either 2/70% or 2/80%). It's almost imperceptible, but it helps with some of the trickier scenes.
ADDING NOISE

Adding noise (1% or 2% max) can sometimes help with quality (or make it worse, just like reduce noise) but it will make your gif so so so much bigger, and occasionally damage the frames, which means you won't be able to load your gif on tumblr, so I rarely use it.
You'll also want to create ACTIONS which will allow you to sharpen your gifs much faster.
HOW TO CREATE AN ACTION ON PHOTOPEA
The Action Button (shaped like a Play button as you can see in the following screencaps) may not be there if you're using photopea for the first time. If that's the case click on the magnifiying glass next to "Account" (in red) and type "actions". Press Enter and the button should immediately show up.
Once you do that, click on the Folder (circled in yellow)

and rename it however you like.

now click on New Action (circled in red). now you can press the Recording button (circled in green)

FILTERS -> Smart Sharpen

and you can enter your values. Then you repeat this passage (WITHOUT pressing rec, WITHOUT pressing new action or anything else, you just open the smart shapen window again) and, if you want, you can sharpen your gif some more (10%, 10px, or anything you want.)
Maybe, before creating an action, experiment with the settings first and see what works best.
When you're satisfied, you can PRESS STOP (it's the rec button, which is now a square) and you can DOWNLOAD your action (downwards facing arrow, the last button next to the bin. Sorry, forgot to circle it) .

You need to download your action and then upload it on your photopea. When you do, a window will pop up and photopea will ask you whether you wish to load the action every time you open the program. You choose "Okay" and the action will be loaded in the storage.
When you want to sharpen your gif, you select all your frames, then you click on the Play button, and select the Action, NOT the folder, or it won't work.

Actions can also be created to more rapidly crop and convert your frames, but it doesn't always work on photopea (for me at least). The process is exactly the same, except once you start recording you 1) crop your gif as explained in step 4, 2) convert into frames. Then you stop the recording and download the action and upload it. This won't work for the Rasterize step by the way. Just the Animation -> Make Frame step.
7. COLORING
Now you can color your gif. I won't include a coloring tutorial simply because I use a different method for every tv show I gif for. You normally want to begin with a brightness or a curve layer, but sometimes I start with a Channel Mixer layer to immediately get rid of yellow/green filters (there's a tutorial for this particular tool which you will find in the list I mention in the link below)
[Plus I'm not really an authority on this matter as my method is generally... fuck around and find out. Two years of coloring and I still have no idea what I'm doing. 70% of the time.]
Simple Gif Coloring for Beginners -> very detailed + it includes a pretty handy list of tutorials at the bottom.
8. EXPORTING
Now you can export your gif. Some gifmakers export their (sharpened) gifs BEFORE coloring and then load the gifs on photopea to color them. I'm not sure it makes any difference.

As you can see, unlike photoshop the exporting settings are pretty thread bare. The only option available is dither - it sometimes help with color banding - which, and I'm quoting from google for maximum clarity:
"refers to the method of simulating colors not available in the color display system of your computer. A higher dithering percentage creates the appearance of more colors and more detail in an image, but can also increase the file size."
SPEED
When you export your gif, it will play at a very decreased speed (100%). I usually set it at 180/190%, but as for every other tool, you might want to play around a little bit.

Save your work as often as you can, even while coloring or before exporting.

Do you have a severe mental illness that can/has caused a mental health emergency? Are you currently stable? You should make a basic safety plan! [Disclaimer: I am not a mental health professional, this advice is taken from my own experiences and what I learned in inpatient psychiatric facilities. This post caters more to those who experience severe psychotic episodes as that is my experience.]
1. Find a safe person. Someone you often spend time with that you can trust with the details of your mental illness and feel safe around. Ask them if they are comfortable being the person to look out for you if you have a mental health emergency. Preferably someone you live with. If no one you live with fits this role, find someone you contact regularly.
2. Explain to the safe person what a mental health emergency looks like for you. Think of the way you presented in the past during mental health emergencies and try to describe it. You may have to describe it based on what others have told you if you had memory loss during episodes in the past.
3. Let them know how they can check with you to see if you are in a mental crisis. You might need them to ask you some questions to gage your mental state (examplse: Do you know where you are right now? Are you able to talk?). Tell them what questions to ask to find out if you are in a crisis.
4. Explain to them what you would want to happen in a mental health emergency. If they are able to see that you are indeed in a mental health emergency, what steps would you want them to take? If you will need to go to the hospital, but don't want to interact with police, let them know to tell that to emergency services. If there's a nearby inpatient facility you would want to go to, tell them which one and give them their contact info. If episodes typically pass on their own for you, let the safe person know how to keep you comfortable and safe until it passes.
5. Have an easily accessible contact paper or note on your phone with some basic info in case you can't speak to professional help while you are in a crisis. Add your name, birth date, your diagnoses, and exactly what medications you take and the dosages. You can add specific warnings or triggers about yourself (examples: Doesn't like being touched by medical professionals. Can react violently to loud noises). You can add contact info of people you'd want to let know about your situation. You can add your insurance information if you have it.
6. If you would have to go to a hospital/inpatient facility, let the safe person know if there's anything else you'd want them to handle once you get there. (Examples: Pack a bag of clothes for the inpatient stay. Feed my pets while I'm gone or ask someone else to. Contact my work place for me and let them know I won't be able to come in.)
Yes this is a long list, but I feel it's important to prepare and get your bases covered while you have the capacity to do so. Often when someone is in crisis they don't know how to ask for help, or what to do once they get help. Thinking of everything ahead of time saves you the extra worry later, or the extra worry of guessing by the people around you.
And if you are thinking "this is too much work to make someone else do!" Consider how much harder it would be if they found you in crisis and had no idea what to do and you wouldn't be able to tell them. If you have a severe mental illness that can/has caused you to be in a state of mental health emergency, you deserve to be cared for by others during the crisis.

Telephones and Their Possible Connection with the Audience
So some time ago l was scrolling through @/partycoffin’s blog as one does when you fall into the fandom hole of welcome home, and I wanted to do a little speculation post about telephones and this picture:

Or more specifically, Eddie's and Howdy's ones, and their different rotary dialers.
[Supposed tiny post turned into long theory ramble below cut!]
(I have checked that this was made on 4 December, 2022, so I think this could be speculated on!)
As we can see, not only are the phone types different (with theirs presumably being portable), the numbers used for dialing are replaced with colours instead. Now, a simple explanation could be made that the colours simply replace the numbers, but that's not the case:

(I know they're not buttons, but let's just use that as a placeholder name for now-)
Neither of them seems to match with the 10 buttons needed for a a normal rotary dial, so the only explanation I could think of is that each colour corresponds with a neighbor.
@softestvine made a post about this before, and if you take a look at the guestbook signatures, the missing purple button on Eddie's phone makes sense since purple should represent him, and therefore his phone number in a sense.

The real question is why would Howdy have his own phone number. Maybe an extra set of hands means he owns two phones? Or maybe it's normal to have your own contacts to ring yourself up, and Eddie is actually the odd one out? For that I'm not sure.
Continuing on, there's also the curious addition of a black button, which doesn't seem to connect to any neighbor at all. My first thought was that it could be related to Home, but considering that it communicates through onomatopoeia that even Wally couldn't understand sometimes, I feel like it's doubtful that it's meant to be for Home. (though I'm not saying that it's impossible, just unlikely for now).
Which leads to the second theory: it's to represent us, the audience, the viewers of the show. My speculation is that there was a segment on the show that would involve the characters calling or receiving a phone call from a fan of the show, similar to how irl children shows that includes audience participation will show off fanworks in their episodes. (the closest example I could think of is Blue's Clues right now since my sister used to watch that).
Admittedly this feels like a stretch, but phones seem to be important to the show in some manner. In some old posts, we have audio of what prank calls to some of the characters are like, and although they're definitely not relevant to the work now, it's interesting to note that the concept of a way to communicate with the puppets exists.
Another thing is that on one of the secret pages of the website, you're sent to this page:

An error page that shows altered text and a phone gif instead of the one with Home. Perhaps I am looking too much into this, but compared to the other hidden links, why would this one take us to an error page first, albeit a different one?
Some people have pointed it out here that if you inspect the phone gif, it says "It's for you". When you click on it, you're taken to a page called 'duet' where Wally is singing to Home.
Don't you think it's coincidental that the only page with an audio file was only found through a phone? And why is the page called 'duet' when Home only responds after Wally finished his song? That's because the duet isn't sung by Wally and Home, it's supposed to be sung by Wally and you. By clicking on the phone, you're answering Wally's call, hence the "It's for you" file name.
My conclusion is that the phones were used to talk to the audience back when the show is running, and now Wally is using them to try to reach out to us.

sypnosis
you have only known one truth about this war, the republic and the seperatists are two sides of the same coin. but now, your master count dooku has disposed of you after your consequent failures. his betrayal fueled your thirst for revenge. and in the cruel twist of fate, you have found yourself with an arrangement with the enemy. general anakin skywalker is willing to do what it takes for the republic to win, even if it meant dealing with you, his nemesis.
chapter summary
a clue tipped by the jedi council leads anakin skywalker back to your cell. now his anger has passed, he wants to clarify the terms of your new alliance.
on the way to nal hutta, anakin skywalker steers the conversation to his fascination over your beliefs— which legitimizes the doubts he's been having about the republic.
warnings : involves spoilers for star wars 'the clone wars' episodes 15-16. i also used some lines from 'tales of the jedi' episodes 3-4, so spoiler warning too?

"Remind me again how the Jedi Council tracked Hardeen so quickly?" You asked.
The sniper had been identified. Rako Hardeen. You recalled the name as a bounty hunter you probably have commissioned before.
"I don't know" Anakin Skywalker answers, too casually to have been a lie.
You sigh, you'll have to trust the Jedi Council's clue, despite your doubts.
Like Skywalker had promised, he appeared in your cell the moment he got a lead.
When he enters— you can't help but brace yourself, half-anticipating the voracious Jedi to come swing a lightsaber again. It's hard to shake the feeling entirely when only yesterday, he was so latched with a rage that almost killed you.
Even Skywalker acknowledges your reaction. You caught him looking at your hands— as if he was checking if it trembled. Like he was expecting you to be scared.
But in the light, he no longer looked... dangerous. No trace of the unstable warrior, or the angered boy. You allowed yourself to breathe evenly.
You'd never forget what he was, what he's capable of. What he'd been trained to do—what he almost did.
But at this moment, he was... fine.
You tugged your hair back, tying it away from your face. If you were to head at Hardeen, who managed to kill a jedi, you can't have your hair be a distraction.
"Nal Hutta, that's where they say he is" Skywalker briefs.
You nod in comprehension, tucking your hands in your pockets, feeling awkwardly empty. You wished you had your satchel, everything you'd need would be neatly prepared in there.
You turn to face the jedi— giving him a long look, wondering whether it would be worth the effort to ask for your saber back.
It would be stupid to go to a fight with nothing.
"If you want to find a low life, you'll have to start at a saloon" You began as casually as you could. "Unfortunately, Nal Hutta isn't really fond of me" You said with a deliberate slowness, just in case he hadn't caught what you were hinting at.
Skywalker crosses his arm— you prayed to every God for a small mercy.
But then he spoke "Lucky for both of us, you're a master at escaping" with his lips curling to the side.
"Though I admire the attempt"
You rolled your eyes. "C'mon, you have to give me a chance to defend myself"
Skywalker's playful grin melts, and your heart thuds, your thoughts reduced to a list of words; dangerous, unstable, full of rage.
He looks down like he'd find the words on the ground.
"About that" He begins. You recognize the expression on his face as a semblance of shame, or regret, perhaps.
"I'm not going to hurt you" His eyes pressed on yours "So stop looking at me like that" He exhales.
His words made you flinch, you glance awkwardly behind him, unsure what to say.
Skywalker seems to see your reluctance and his jaw clenches. "I was wrong to accuse you, I don't know what came over me, it was like all that anger..." He drifts off
Your eyes narrow at his hesitation. Maybe he's not yet made peace with the rage he displayed. Maybe he thinks denying it would not bring it to life.
"I overstepped, I won't do that to you again."
He moves towards you— determined to commit to this informal apology. His blue eyes continue to study you, waiting expectantly. You could almost feel his gaze on your skin.
"Alright" you answered.
You wondered if it had been the right thing to say. You could push away your anxieties, for now. Utilizing Anakin Skywalker would prove to be at a larger advantage than trying to pursue your revenge alone.
Besides, he's already doing this alone. Away from the Jedi Council and the Republic's righteousness.
You pondered on his moral code— you definitely have never seen any jedi exhibit such blurriness.
But perhaps your old master was right when he taught you that you can get any man to do anything— if you convince them it is moral.
You could almost laugh at the irony. You and him were the same— in that manner. Driven by the need for justice.
You for yourself, and he for his fallen master.
Though the thought of being in the same room as him will always make you uneasy, you'll have to adapt.
Skywalker's gaze softens. "I realize we have to set some terms if we were to work together"
"I'm surprised you thought as much" You couldn't stop the retort from escaping your lips. "My freedom. I told you I want a full pardon"
Skywalker leans his back to the wall behind him.
"But since, apparently, I'm not in Jedi or Republic custody, that is no longer a possibility" You proceeded.
"Clever" He remarks "But not to worry, wraith, I can take you out. Besides, to their eyes, you're still on the run"
You raised an eyebrow, not quite following what he had planned.
"If somehow, I had found you and theoretically killed you, they'd be off your tail" He says cajolingly.
"That's your brilliant plan?" Your voice raised in disbelief.
"Tentative" He defends, pursing his lips. "Of course, I could still choose to turn you in if things go south"
You sigh. A full pardon will grant you peace outside the war. A fake death is not secure. But then again, you can't just... try to appear as some twisted hero willing to aid the Jedi to atone for all you've committed. It doesn't equate...
"Right"
"You don't trust me, that's the smartest thing you've done yet, seeing you rarely reason" You didn't back down from spiting.
"But, you'll have to trust my decisions, even when you don't trust me." You named your term.
You waited for him to react, but he only nodded.
"And Dooku. You'll leave him to me" You stated finally.
Anakin Skywalker studies you. You curse the Gods for enabling him to access the force, for allowing him to know the grief that was fuelling you.
Then the silence hung, too prolonged— too tense.
"Now will that be all or should I take a pen to write your long list of demands?" He says light heartedly.
Looking up, you forced a smile"My weapon would be nice"
Skywalker smirks "Absolutely not"

A ship waited for the both of you in the hangar.
You tugged on the robe Skywalker gave you to conceal your face. Skywalker did not bother to find one your size, you recognized from the color that it might have been one of his, so the robe hung past your knees and just above your ankles. You can't find the point to complain, as long as it does its job.
The hatch opens and you step inside, the Jedi following closely behind you.
Skywalker sits down by the cockpit, starting up the engines.
Soon, the ship exits Coruscant's atmosphere and jumps into hyperspace. You sat down to the seat next to him, Nal Hutta is in the outer rim territories, it would take some time.
You could feel Skywalker studying you. He didn't really take shame in staring.
You tried to brush it off, but when you can no longer stand it, you speak up "Something in your mind, Skywalker?"
His lips curl to the side, as if he was amused by how he was irking you. He leans his back against his chair, facing you.
"No, I was only wondering why exactly you aren't welcome in Nal Hutta"
"It's a long story" You answer.
"It's a long flight, delight me"
You blink, an idea of wanting to jump in outer space instead of enduring his intense gaze crossing your mind. Not satiating his curiosity would just mean he'd keep finding other ways to annoy you.
"It's Huttese territory. Dooku thought assigning bounty hunters is below him, so he sent me to find them. Because the credits are high, they'll compete" That much you could say.
Skywalker tilts his head, "Then what, you didn't meet your end of the deal?"
"No" Your eyebrow raised at his presumption. "I needed to hire who's most competent and I had to filter out the... excess. Think they took it personally"
He huffs a laugh. "Right"
The silence hung, Skywalker's gaze falls to the interwoven stars zooming past as the ship travels through space.
"It doesn't make sense that Count Dooku would want to kill Obi-Wan. I always thought he somehow had some reservation for Master Qui Gon's padawan" He ponders.
"Why the sudden need to go so far?" His eyes painted grief.
You pursed your lips, unsure whether it'll console him to know Dooku is just plain heartless. It felt like it would only add to his anguish.
"My master—" You pause.
"—old master" You clarified. "does not like appearing weak after a loss, so he'd counter attack to fiend strength"
"So, he really has abandoned you then?" His eyes narrow in focus, registering what you said, perhaps thinking you were the 'loss' Dooku suffered.
"Umbara was a crucial supply route. Millions will go into famine. If he wants the Confederacy to believe in him still, he'd have to find a way to keep their faith" You answered, the images of the fallen city plaguing your mind.
"And his solution is to kill a jedi?" Skywalker's voice was covered in spite. "I don't understand why you'd want to follow him"
You swallowed, "I fought for the Alliance. Not for Dooku"
Skywalker shifts in his seat, eyes intent on you. He was so close you could make out the two new scars by the end of his chin. "And what, now you want to appear as some twisted hero by killing your master? Won't that just guarantee the Seperatists will fall?"
His words stung. Your shoulders tense and your fingers grip the insides of your robe.
"You're a soldier, I wish I had your simplistic view" You retorted. "Why do you think so many systems allied themselves with the Confederacy of Independent Systems?" You deflected.
Skywalker does not answer.
"These systems, most of them are not developed enough to have a government. So they do not have someone representing them in the Senate, and when they do, these Senators live lavishly in the Coruscant, corrupting their planets of its resources." You lead on.
"Besides, the Republic only caters for the systems who can afford to have a government. The very reason the movement was even born is because they hoped to reestablish a system that would care for all. That would serve the people of the republic not the senate and its senators."
Skywalker's jaw clenches. "Waging a war will not solve the problem"
"Yeah?" You challenged his view, "And I suppose we can trust the Senate to hear us above their own interests?"
Recognizing the subtle manifestation of his doubt, you pressed on "The corruption in the Senate fails the ideals of the Republic it represents, I'm sure you've taken notice"  Your eyes dared him to contradict you, but he looks down.
"And the Alliance will find a way to have someone else lead, it'd be best to, Dooku's strategies are not really helping in communicating the reason for our resistance."
You lean back on your seat, taking a moment to breathe more slowly. You fought for the Alliance, it was something you once believed in.
Maybe, he really thought it was just plain black and white before.
"I still don't think leading with violence is the answer" He makes up his resolve.
You sigh. It would be hard to make a person who grew up sheltered with Jedi ideologies to understand.
It would be easier to accept that the 'Seperatists' Alliance is purely wrought out of wanting to usurp the current Republic, that it is inherently evil. The truth of it being a united movement of people hoping to find salvation from famine, slavery, and death is unsettling.
You don't expect Anakin Skywalker to understand; the Maker granted him an excess of obliviousness you wished to have.
"This is a war" You answered plainly, not denying your side's faults.
"Yeah, no kidding"
The board lights up, indicating you were nearing Nal Hutta. Skywalker presses on the controls to take the ship out of hyperspace and soon after, you land on the planet.
Your mind went over Skywalker's hesitance. Perhaps, he wasn't so blind to completely dismiss the Senate's corruption. At least, his sense of justice isn't entirely based on the Republic.
You don't intend to enforce your beliefs to him, only to make him admit to the truth of the hypocrisy of the 'good side' he was fighting for.
And this exchange resonated that he is not entirely closed off to the idea of it.
He's not impersuadable. And for that, you'll go with him.

Arthur Shelby- Call The Midwife

I was requested to do a request based on call the midwife. I couldn't choose just one character and one story line from call the midwife so I've done one for each. They will all be out over the next few weeks.
Inspired by season 2 episode 4
Falling pregnant was something Arthur and I were very excited about. A year after we married we knew that we wanted a baby. So here I am  now nearly 9 months pregnant. Groaning I sit down on our shared bed after going to the bathroom for what feels like the hundredth time tonight. Arthur puts his arms around me and rubs my large stomach
"How's my boy doing in there?"
"Making me need a piss every 5 minutes" I chuckle "Arthur?"
"Hmm"
"Esme said we should speak to the midwife about the baby not moving much. Said her lot she could feel kicking. I haven't felt him kick once"
"I'm sure he's alright in there, but we can speak to the midwife tomorrow if you'd like"
"Thank you Arthur"
"Anythin for you dear" Arthur helps me to lay down properly in bed, placing the bed sheets over me and I quickly fall asleep.
Sometime during the night I wake up to awful pains in my stomach. Waking Arthur up I tell him to go and call the midwife.
What feeling like hours pass and I'm pacing the bedroom huffing and puffing
"There here" Arthur finally says and in walks the midwife I've been seeing since falling pregnant
"Sister, thank god your here" I breath out just as another pain hits me
"How are you doing?"
"I feel terrible, look at me"
"Well it's not a beauty contest. Now let's take a look at you" the midwife says helping me on to the bed. She lifts my legs up and takes a look at me "well it looks like we're going to be waiting for a little bit. Your not quite ready yet"
"Oh god I want this over" I shout
"And it will be soon and you'll have a perfect little baby in your arms"
"Your the father I'm guessing"
"Yes sister"
"We'll time for you to leave. Go heat up some water. This is woman's business" with that Arthur leaves the room looking panicked.
Hours later the Sister checks me again and tells me that I'm ready to push
"Now on the next pain I want you to give me a really big push. Ok?"
"I don't think I can. It hurts so bad"
"I know it does but just keep thinking about this little one being in your arm. Ok right" as the pains hit I push with all my might "ok I want you to wait a minute and when the next contraction hits I want you to push really hard" I pause, panting out of breath. Another contraction hits and I start pushing again "keep going almost there"
"I can't"
"Yes you can. Baby is nearly here" finally I feel the baby leave my body, but there's no crying at first
"My baby, is he ok?"
"Come on little one" I here the midwife say and tears start to form, but once a cry is hear I breathe a sigh of relief "I'm just going to clean him"
"Is it a boy?" I ask
"Girl"
"A girl" i mutter smiling. There's a knock on the door and in walks Arthur "it's a girl Arthur"
"Mr Shelby we haven't quite finished in here. YN hasn't delivered the after birth yet"
"He can stay I don't mind"
"Erm well in that case. Mr and Mrs Shelby I need to speak to you both"
"What's wrong?" Arthur asks frowning
"Baby's had some complications"
"What's that supposed to mean. What's wrong with my daughter?" Arthur demands
"She's got a problem with her back"
"What kind of problem?" I ask worried
"Let me call for a doctor who can explain it to you"
"Spina bifida?" I repeat making sure I've heard the doctor correctly
"Yes"
"But most children with this condition don't make it past their 3rd birthday"
"Only if their condition is accompanied with other things. I want to take the baby to the London general"
"My wife and I haven't even held her yet"
"Arthur it's ok" I say placing my hand on his arm
"Your both welcome to visit whenever you'd like and once we're happy with babies progress then you will be able to bring her home"
"Thank you doctor. Sister" with that I watch them take mine and Arthur's daughter away. I can tell Arthur is feeling many mixed emotions, anger, hurt, upset, confusion. I lean my head on his shoulder
"What if she...." Arthur finally says, his voice cracking trying not to cry
"We have to have faith Arthur"
"Faith. We should name her faith"
"I love that name"

Villainous Headcanon: Miss Heed Unbearable Personality is like Kitten from Teen Titans
Out of all the cartoon characters, I imagine Miss Heed's personality to be like Kitten from Teen Titans from the "Date With Destiny" episode especially after Chapter 10 of The Risky Heist:
Both Miss Heed and Kitten have a spoilt and unbearable personality, their expressions are somewhat similar see images below), wear pink and have a pink esthetic (I kinda imagine Miss Heed having a pink limo like Kitten) and Miss Heed liking cats having a cat headband while the character's name is Kitten and sometimes pretentiously acts like one.

Her relationship with her father is also something like Kitten and Killer Moth! Mr Kelly. does love her daughter (why wouldn't he help clear her name and get out of rehab if he doesn't) however is an extremely busy with his work making him unable to give much attention to his daughter, causing him to overcompensate by giving her whatever she wants. (Like giving her a credit card without a limit at the age of seven)
This led her to become an extremely selfish, spoilt, and demanding brat, who wants to get everything that she wants without caring how others feel or how much it makes other people suffer to get it.
I kinda imagine her father caving into her unbearable requests as hero and her obsession of getting GoldHeart. (like the clip in the video below.
Miss Heed: If I'm going to be a popular heroine, I NEED a popular hero boyfriend too! AND YOUR GOING TO GET ONE FOR ME!
Mr. Kelly: Now, Cec-Heed, be reasonable! You don't seriously expect me to --
Miss Heed: And I don't want just any popular hero!
Miss Heed: I want the best, most popular, charismatic, coolest, and handsomest hero!
Miss Heed: The one that no other girl can get!
Miss Heed: The one who would drive EVERYONE wild jealously when they see us together!
Miss Heed: I want GOLDHEART!!

But you should check it because there're more totally hilarious clips showing Kitten's anger and obnoxious behaviour which I headcanon Miss Heed resembles out of her public persona. 😂)
This is also why he hired an agent at the start for Miss Heed when she wanted to become a hero. So that he can focus even more on his work, have a more bearable medium to deal with his daughter's demanding requests, and is able to deal with his daughter's HORRIBLE TANTRUMS, and personally not deal with the monstrosity his daughter grew up to be as much as possible.

Flug mentions in his journal that she is quick to anger when things don't go her way and for as long as he knows her she wants to be the centre of attention and will do whatever it takes to get it. So I kinda imagine her to be like the scene in the video last 2 clips (above)
If that's the case she must be an utter unbearable NIGHTMARE of a friend and student for Flug and her schoolmates to deal with or just generally everyone around her.
No wonder she needs a perfume to make people like her ( 😂jk/)
This is why I theorised that GoldHeart has been avoiding Heed as much as possible and not interacting with her as much as possible, unless necessary. That's why you don't see him in any of Miss Heed's social media posts despite her crazy obsession. As he does not want to deal with her annoying and unbearable personality, despite the importance of Miss Heed's formula, that she stole from Flug, in his plan to end Villainy. 😂
And probably cringes every time he actually has to interact with her.
Also if he were to ever be forced to go on the date with Heed he would react the same way and have somewhat of the same facial expressions (below) like Robin being forced to go on a date with Kitten, having to deal with her, obsessive, pretentious, annoying and unbearable personality and also (shipper headanon) Flug would be Starfire, the one thst GoldHeart would rather go on a date with.

Yall reaching again cause GRRM never ever stated once Daemon loved Rhaenyra. Neither Matt, they called the relationship odds, weird, strange, never love. GRRM only said it's the way to see his sides cause obviously in S1 besides Viserys, there's Rhaenyra who interacts with Daemon who has actually some kind of weird bond,also toxic, but it's not love, girl. I literally did an article explaining why Emma D'Arcy was talking shit when she called this relationship grooming back in the day. As far as I know, Emma is a human being, right ? Isn't Emma D'Arcy a god who is right about everything ? In fact, in this same article where Emma was talking about grooming, also claimed that Rhaenyra was 16 years old (it seems to me) in episode 4, when in reality her character was canonically 19. Rather funny to take the word of an actor as gospel when the latter is immediately deceived about the age of his character. Also, Emma D'Arcy literally already said he would read Daemyra fanfictions... Crying about it ?
Also, I don't know what cave you lived in, but the daemyra relationship was definitely described as love by Matt Smith. He literally said that Daemon would give his life for Viserys and Rhaenyra. And also, it seems to me, designated Daemon as definitely loving Rhaenyra, even if yes, it's strange, except it's another world with other morals, not to judge with our modern vision what you stop acting like the idiots you are. Also, I don't have to justify over and over why Daemyra isn't in the grooming book or show. I literally made a huge post about this, as others have. It's not my place to educate you and in any case you are someone who voluntarily wishes to remain in ignorance on this subject in order to boast of a two-franc moral superiority.
Also, small compilation of moments where the writers / the HOTD team talked about love / romantic aspect / or something more powerful than tat, for Dameyra that I found. Hey, it's free :

Okay so I'm probably forgetting about a moment here, but I was thinking about the way Mike comforts people when they need him.
In season 1, ep 1, when we get the first scene of Troy and his friend bullying the party they target all of them with name-calling, but then they shift their attention specifically to Dustin (thank you Em for pointing this put hehe) and they make him do "the arm thing" since both Dustin and Gaten have cleidocranial dysplasia which is a genetic condition affecting bone (particularly the skull and collarbones) and teeth development (basically, Troy and his friend are being a pair of ableist fuckers). Then they leave and Mike turns to Dustin and says:
"I think it's kind of cool. It's like you have superpowers or something. Like... Mister Fantastic!"
To which Dustin replies:
"Yeah, except I can't fight evil with it"
This maybe showing that even though Mike is trying to comfort his friend, the words don't make a huge impact because of how fantastical and out of reach they are.
Then, on episode 6 of the same season we have the moment when Mike jumps off the cliff and El saves him. And then when Troy and his friend run away, El collapses and says to Mike:
"Mike, I'm sorry." "Sorry? What are you sorry for?" "The gate. I opened it. I'm the monster." "No. No, El, you are not the monster. You saved me, do you understand? You saved me."
In this case, Mike says exactly what El needs to hear. She's not the monster and it can be proven by the way El went out of her way to save Mike. But then we see how this idea shifts from "you are not the monster" to "you are a superhero" which instead of comforting El it adds a new weight on her shoulders and a new title that keeps her from finding out who she truly is.
On season 2, when Will gets possessed by the Shadow Monster, Mike comforts him telling him that:
"Think about it Will. You are like a spy now. A super spy. Spying on the Shadow Monster."
Mike uses the word super again, which would make Will the third person (unless I missed another scene) Mike comforts by putting this big word on them. Of course, then we have El and Mike on season 4 during their fight:
"I mean, what is this? You can't let those mouthbreathers ruin you. Ruin us. They are nobody. And you are a superhero."
So, that got me thinking. Why is Mike fixated so much with what's super? And then I remembered something my old therapist told me. And that's that we comfort people the way we want to be comforted, because it's what we think the others might need. Now, I don't know if that's a golden rule, probably not. But what if that's what Mike is doing here?
What if whenever Mike needed to be comforted but found himself alone because his family didn't take the time to check on him, he ached for someone to come and tell him that things would be fine because he had the power to make them fine on his own? What if Mike wanted in his vulnerable moments for someone to make him feel like a superhero, like he will be able to get through whatever is going on no matter what because superheroes never lose, because superheroes can protect the ones they love and as we know Mike is a caretaker (which, uhm, isn't basically that what superheroes are too?).
What if that's what Mike thinks he needs, and that's why he comforts people like that most times? But then, when he allows himself to be vulnerable as well, when he steps down from the caretaker position and levels up with the person he wants to give comfort to, Mike actually understand how to console them. We see this in the crazy together scene. Mike doesn't tell Will that his episodes could be a superpower. He listens to Will, and then feels comfortable enough to be vulnerable himself, and when he says he feels like he is going crazy and Will says he feels the same, instead of going all the way to care for Will, Mike meets him in the middle so instead they take care of each other.
"Well, if we are going crazy then we'll go crazy together."
In this scene Mike isn't Will's caretaker, he's his best friend and is on a one-on-one dynamic with him, so they both can find a balance and find each other there.
And then in season 4 when Mike is in need of being comforted, Will approaches him in a way that isn't how Mike thinks he needs to be supported. Will doesn't tell Mike he's like a superhero, being the leader of the party, saving him from the Upside Down and being on the first line whenever they have to deal with all that bullshit. Will tells Mike something much more human, his words are much more reachable. He tells Mike he's the heart, the one that keeps the Party together, and that without him they would all fall apart. Will doesn't give Mike a new super title, he just reminds Mike what he's been all along. And we get that shot of Mike looking so openly and vulnerable at Will, taking in the words, understanding them and letting them reach him.
What if Mike feels like he needs to be a superhero as well, and Will is there to remind him that he's the heart already, and that that's what they all need. Not another Mr. Fantastic or another Captain America. Just Mike, leading the Party on, and keeping them together.

"Bob's Burgers" Season 5 Episode Ranking Rewatch (Long Post)
So, I've been rewatching "Bob's Burgers" from the beginning and ranking the episodes using the spreadsheet that @babsvibes created! If you want to know why I'm doing this or how I view the 1-5 rating scale, you can check out my Season 1 post! If you want to check out any of the other seasons, I've been using the "bob's burgers episode ranking rewatch" tag for all of them.
Now, on to Season 5:

Season as a whole thoughts:
I'm so amused by how similar this season's average score was to Season 4- it's only .02 less than Season 4 (the current leader)! This certainly goes along with one of my main thoughts about "Bob's Burgers", and one the things that lead to me doing this rewatch: that it has been a really consistently good show. This was just another consistently funny season.
In the first couple of seasons, I mentioned my memories of watching the show as it was new and my growth as a fan. Here's my fandom memory tied to Season 5. This was during the time that Loren Bouchard and the case were going around doing Bob's Burgers Live" performances in theaters across the country- and I was lucky enough to see them at the Chicago Theatre on March 20, 2015 (I found an email about it. I don't have the date memorized!) And that might play into the rankings for two episodes in this season and one next season. At that event, they showed a completed clip of the then-unaired "Eat, Spray, Linda", an early animatic clip of "The Hauntening", and did a partial table-read of "Housetrap". So, those three episodes would probably always be 5s in my book just for that special memory. (Although, I also think they are really great episodes!)
Some thoughts on specific episodes (and feel free to ask if you want my thoughts on an episode I didn't comment on):
"Work Hard or Die Trying, Girl": Such a fun episode! So many great songs! But what it really made me appreciate this time was Courtney's character, and the development of her relationship with Gene. It would've been so easy for them to have just made her a one-shot character, or to have kept her as being his annoying ex, like she was in the first half of this story, but the end of this episode really marks the beginning of them being friends- and I like that they went in that direction! I think Gene kind of gets the short end of the stick when it comes to friendship- we rarely see him just hanging out with his friends like Tina and her group or Louise with Rudy and the Pesto Twins. But I think his relationship with Courtney is a sweet one that I have been underrating.
"Tina and the Real Ghost": One of my favorite Halloween episodes- I love that it's so offbeat for a Halloween episode. It's not about costumes or trick or treating or frights-yeah, it's a ghost story but the ghost is a pretty obvious joke and (as Tina points out at the end) it's really a way to tell us about the characters and their wants/needs. The scene in the butterfly garden will always crack me up. And I have a cousin named Jeff, so I love Louise saying it was the dumbest name she could think of for a ghost.
"Friends With Burger-fits": If you ask me what the most important episode for Rudy's character development is, my answer wouldn't be "Carpe Museum" or "Bridge Over Troubled Rudy" or "The Amazing Rudy"- it would be this episode, where we learn that he wants to be the bad boy of public radio like Elvis Mitchell. (I don't know if I am joking or not at this point.)
"Dawn of the Peck": Barely edges out "Turkey in a Can" as my favorite T-Day episode because I love Rudy and Mickey and I love the idea of them having T-Day dinner with the Belchers at the end.
"Midday Run": One of the sleeper hits of this season- I always forget how fun this one is! Just a great, fun school storyline! We learn more about Zeke and get the first reference to his crush on Tina. Rudy plays an interesting role in this episode as Tina's sidekick (and I think it's interesting that in "Fingers-loose", the next episode to focus on Tina as a hall monitor, Rudy doesn't appear to be one any more). Also, how come the fact the Bob's seen Edith naked doesn't come up more often? It just seems like it should.
"Speakeasy Rider": Another sleeper hit! I basically forgot about the existence of this episode, but it is fantastic! A great Tina and Louise in conflict plot! The introduction of Sasha! The One Eyed Snakes are back! Gus has a big role (how frickin' great is Gus?!?! I love him!) So much good stuff!
"Late Afternoon in the Garden of Bob and Louise": This is a mixed review 3. There are some things I really love in this episode. "Happy Place, Crappy Place" is a banger. Bob is so cute in his English lady garden hat, talking to his plants. And the scene where Bob and Louise make up is a classic. But I'm not a huge fan of the standard Logan and Louise dynamic of trading insults and antagonizing each other- and this episode has a LOT of that. So, this episode isn't really my jam. (But I know that a lot of other people love that dynamic and love this episode, and that's awesome! As the spreadsheet says, these are just my Personal Rankings, I don't claim to be putting out objective universal truths here.)
"Can't Buy Me Math": I love the way both storylines end in this one! The bowling alley scene is hilarious, and I love Bob stripping for Linda. One of my favorite aspects of Bob and Linda's relationship is that they are both pretty average looking people (I definitely have a Bob Belcher-esque body myself) but they clearly find each other hot as fuck, and the striptease scene really epitomizes that. One of the best Boblin moments!
"Adventures in Chinchilla-sitting": A great "the kids and their friends have an adventure!" episode, and a I love those. A particular highlight of this one: Gene's jokes at Tammy's expense. "We get it, you have email!" and "You're in 8th grade? I thought you were someone's mom!" I love how all the Belcher kids zing Tammy in their own, unique style. Also, "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII wish my radio worked!"
"Housetrap": One joke I really remember cracking me up when seeing the tableread at "Bob's Burgers Live" was Linda's line about the clocks: "Spooky. They all stopped at 3:13. Oh, wait, they all moved." Not sure why that amuses me so much, but it does!
"Hawk & Chick": I actually posted when I was rewatching this one, but man, this is a fantastic episode! I honestly think it might be a top 10 or 15 episode for me. I knew it was a good, emotional Louise and Bob episode but I forgot how funny it was- Gene in particular has some good lines throughout! And I love Koji! There is just something really sweet and joyful about him; I hope they come up with a reason to bring him back for a third time!
Random Thoughts (stuff that doesn't affect the ratings):
If I thought of any random thoughts while rewatching this season, I don't remember them! So here are some memories of seeing "Bob's Burgers Live" at the Chicago Theatre:
Each of the cast members did a little standup set. I can remember a little bit from all of them except Eugene Mirman, although I do remember that he did some of the same bits from the Netflix special he had at the time ("Vegan on his Way to the Complain Store").
A Dan Mintz joke: "When I was a kid, I would always ask my parents 'who's your favorite kid?' And they would tell me 'we don't have a favorite kid' And that hurt my feelings because I was an only child."
John Roberts sang a song about how people like Linda more than him.
H. Jon Benjamin did a seemingly improvised bit holding a Walgreens bag containing a home drug test for cocaine that you can buy there.
Kristen Schaal did a bit that was, in part, a one woman show about Emily Dickinson. She also joked about attending Northwestern University in Chicago (along the lines of "So if you saw a weird girl mumbling to herself on the L back in 1998, that was me! You missed out on all this!")
There was an audience question part at the end and someone asked the cast if they would help him propose to his girlfriend. Which they not only did, but improvised a little skit about! I cannot remember the whole premise of it, but I do remember a bit where Eugene and Kristen were playing friends of the guy and girl respectively and were making fake small talk with them. Eugene to the guy: "Soooo....sports?" Kristen to the girl: "Soooo...bras?"
Well, thank you for travelling back in time to March 2015 with me! Who knows what I'll talk about in my Season 6 post! (Probably Season 6 of "Bob's Burgers"...)

I must say the fact that Kai mentioned that Kate misses Lucy took me by surprise, I was expecting some comment about Lucy in the water or something, but that was his way of checking in on her, like letting her know he knows how she feels and trying to care about her and not just about how Lucy is doing 😌

Let's appreciate for a moment the way Kate sits and settles into the seat, because I'm gay and I just can't ignore something like this. Okay, let's move on 😁

Kai talks to her about the case, not saying much about why the case interests him, but we know Kate and she notices the way he's presenting the problem to her and almost immediately notices that there's something more to why he's interested
And that's when he tells the truth, it's personal, it's not just about protecting the community as he was saying or doing the right thing, he wants to prove a point, and one thing I love about Kate is that she doesn't judge him, she doesn't downplay it

What she does is simply make it clear to him that if she mentions the case to her boss then he should stay in line, he should know that no matter how much it's his community and it's about people he knows, it's about her work and he needs to respect that

Now, I don't remember exactly who I was mentioning this to, but the fact that Kate went to talk to Kai letting him know about her dad speaks to the type of person she is and how much she cares about the team - in this case Kai -

It wasn't her obligation to tell him, but she took the time to let him know, so he and his dad can prepare for what's coming. Kai wants to protect his community and Kate is protecting him with this

Even when Kai reacts a little defensive and tells her that nothing is certain about what happened, she stays calm, because she knows it's too much to take in and that's precisely why she decided to tell him

And that last look before she leaves, just making sure once again that he will be okay. It may be hard for Kate to show how she feels, but she is one of the most empathetic and caring people around, she always helps in any way she can and I love her

Welcome back to another installment of: TMAGP & Treats!!!!!!!!
While I'm here I will say: I am so so so sorry that I fell behind. I assumed that the once-a-week updates with making a single baked good would suffice as it's not like I'm doing this daily. I underestimated not only how taxing it would be to ask for ingredients from my parents, but also to keep up with the schedule. The pressure to mull the episode over and connect the dots enough to string together a coherent analysis has pretty much axed any way of doing this efficiently. Like a wise woman once said, you can have it right, or you can have it fast. With all that said, I think I'm ready to get back on track once more and do weekly installments. I will just have to make some adjustments. Now, here's the treat of the week!

This week (pretend it's on the day ep 6 was relwased okay) was Chocolate Crinkles!!!! Now without further ado, here's my thoughts:
- as is the nature of my recent surgery, i have to be cautious with what i eat, but i think i can make an exception with these

FINALLY THOUGHTS:
first of all, i love celia so so so much. aside from the insistence from alice that sam has a romantic crush on her giving me a knee-jerk uncomfortable reaction as an aromantic myself, i really love her. i never really made the connection between her and the celia from tma until i double checked the tag on tumblr, but it is nice to see lowrie back! i am interested in how this will culminate. i really do love celia though. she's silly in a lame way. she's my favorite character. clap for her Now.
second of all, sam. sammy. samama khalid. my buddy boy my friendo. you have Got to stop fucking around and finding out. first, it was actively seeking out information and digging when he shouldn't. then it was signing the response 121 form. and now it's this reaction to when the case was abruptly cut off with no clean ending. he wants to know more. the warning signs are there, but i'm hoping that he's still able to get out of there when he can.
unfortunately, this is all the thoughts i wrote at the time. i was planning on writing more, but sadly i ran out of steam by the time the cookies were done, and by then i just went to bed and didn't end up completing TMAGP & Treats in time. i will promise to make up in the future though!!!!

I mean I'd rather have him than Juzo.

Bold words for a guy who once beat a student because he was "inferior" for not having a talent.
Someone needs to stop giving this guy chairs.
Seiko's still... That and running after Ruruka and Izayoi.
The director being kind of a badass makes sense.
Wouldn't have survived this long if he wasn't.
And he's beating Juzo sips tea maybe we can trust him.
Kyoko's stunned reaction like you gotta be good to fool the detective.
Awh Asahina and Kyoko hugging.
"Why bother being like him, he's him and you're you." Look at you Kyoko giving encouragement.

And Asahina chiming in that yeah you're great on you own. You don't need to be like Makoto.

I love how everyone's freaking out and Kyoko's just annoyed.

Munakata seems like the type to play with his food, so to speak.

Also his insistence on calling it a game...doesn't sit right with me.

Zekina Wedding Headcanons Because Why Not!
I did a glimpse of a wedding headcanon for this ship in one of my other Zekina posts, but now I want to make it its own thing.
Before I start though. There's a line of dialogue from the episode "So You Stink You Can Dance" that I have been stuck on for a while. I didn't want to make another post for that episode because I already have two. So I'm pairing it with this because it sort of fits the theme. Jimmy Jr.: I know what this is! Tina: Two friends who care about you, and their cousin Leslie. Tina what do you mean "their"?! Leslie isn't your cousin and last I checked, Zeke didn't use they/them pronouns (Not that I'm against him using they/them if the character decides to because that's mean, but I'm just making a point here). Tina could have said "and Zeke's cousin Leslie", "and cousin Leslie", or even just "and Leslie". Either Tina had a Freudian slip moment or Dan Mintz really needed to redo that take so it would stop crazy people like me from overthinking lines like that. XD You don't just involve two people in a sentence and then imply both people have a familial relationship with a third person when it's not the case like that! XD As a self-proclaimed crazy person, I'm taking this as Tina is eventually going to marry Zeke after all so that line can be true and Leslie becomes Tina's cousin-in-law. XD Okay now onto the wedding headcanons 1. Tina and Zeke get married on the beach. (I already said this before but now I'm clarifying it again)
2. They get married on July 28th (it was the day the first zombie movie, "White Zombie" was released. Also, a summer beach wedding seems more fitting than a fall one. The first "Night of the Living Dead" was released on October 1st while the remake was released on the 19th of the same month)
3. Their cake toppers are a tiny, bride mustard bottle and a tiny, groom ketchup bottle (originally wanted to do sea urchin and sea cucumber but condiment bottles fit better in my opinion). The cake is white and blue with yellowish-orange (like American cheese) stars lining the bottom of the layers. I wanted to combine an ocean theme and a burger theme combo for the cake. 4. Bob's Burger of the day for the wedding will be called the "Something Blue" cheeseburger (it was originally the longer version, but he shortened it down when he realized less was more for this one). It's a burger topped with blue cheese, fried zucchini (though Gene insisted to go with the Italian translation, zucchina. Bob didn't really get it at first because he didn't know what ship names were. A whole new world of burger ideas was opened once he got the concept of ship names), and ketchup (because it kind of rhymes "getcha" XD)
5. Since the "something blue" is the burger, here's the rest. Old - Tina's glasses. She inconveniently loses the yellow ones that I gave her in my adult design of her and has no choice but to use her old, thick, black ones. New - The fresh, blue daisies she has in her hair. Borrowed - The barrette Zeke keeps on his ear. He lets her borrow it for bangs to keep them in place. That's right, the yellow thing on my design for adult Zeke wasn't another earring. Instead of barrettecklace, Zeke just clips the thing onto his ear like a clip-on earring. Does it hurt? Maybe. Regardless now you all know that it wasn't another earring but Tina's barrette. 6. Cheryl's kid is the flower girl and Sidecar is the ring bearer. (Though if Cheryl's kid turns out to be a boy then Sidecar is the flower boy and Cheryl's kid is the ring bearer because I thought it be cute and funny.) 7. Louise and Gene share the status as the maids of honor while Dillon and Susmita are bridesmaids. Louise wears a suit, Gene wears a suit-dress combo, and the rest wear dresses. 8. Jimmy Jr., in spite of everything is Zeke's best man while the other groomsmen are Rudy and Leslie. They all wear suits. (Zeke needs another friend just so I can make it even between the bridesmaids and groomsmen lol. open to suggestions for the fourth member. I could do Andy and Ollie and just add Jocelyn to Tina's side but I'm not feeling it for multiple reasons) 9. Zeke, of course, tells the Wagstaff Whaler story like he said he would. Meanwhile, Tina surprises Zeke and everyone (except Louise and Gene) when she provides a stitched-together version of all the moments she wrote about Zeke in her diary in chronological order. It was a very sweet way of showing Zeke the progression of her feelings from when she first meant him to now. Louise and Gene helped her with the idea before the wedding to be sure that it didn't get too spicy and for another Buttloose incident to occur. 10. Gene provides the music for the wedding but I'm having trouble deciding who will sing. For me, it's between Linda, Gayle, Courtney, or Daryl. 11. Zeke takes Tina's last name which represents to Tina that when Zeke first said "he was going to get her" it wasn't to "win her" as if she was an easy trophy but that he was determined enough to do whatever it takes to earn her love no matter how unlikely. 12. Susmita did the best she could juggling being a bridesmaid and wedding photographer. Tina and Zeke appreciate her pictures regardless since they know that she's not an official wedding photographer, she's just really good at taking pictures. Get what you pay for and all that jazz. 13. Zeke and Tina spend their honeymoon sailing and then being marooned on Quippiquisset Island because of boat troubles (and for real this time, for the sake of comedic/dramatic irony. I got the idea from vaguely remembering season 6, episode 1 of the Nanny.). Don't worry the rest of the Belcher family gets the 2 off the island eventually. XD
14. They had lobster at the wedding as well as burgers. Couldn't not let Tina have her fantasy lobster wedding feast. XD Bob wasn't particularly pleased by it but he let it go because it was what Tina wanted in the end. As long as Bob, Gene, or anyone else allergic doesn't eat any of the lobster it should be fine. What the heck, Zeke gets his braised lamb shank too. lol 15. Tina's wedding bouquet would comprise of white gardenias, red roses, and lavenders.

re-listening to the magnus archives for the nth time and man the quality drop-off after the episode where gerard kaey just Explains the Lore to jon is astonishing. I'd thought the decline was mostly confined to latter season 4 and 5, but nope! it's there halfway through the series!
I think a number of things about the show's premise are fundamentally unworkable, but one that really stands out to me now is the extent to which it wants to be a drama when it has done very little to establish, specifically, what its characters are like around each other. I have a pretty good idea of who Jon is, and a reasonably solid sense of who the rest of the cast is, but I don't really understand how any of them fit together. even Jon and Martin, ostensibly the central relationship of the show...I don't really understand what that is! what's the shape of their dynamic? what do they see in each other? what do they like and dislike? why are they together (even in a platonic sense)!
(sidenote: honestly I feel like the most well-developed relationship in the whole thing is Jon and Elias, because there is a very clear rationale for what's going on there: Elias is grooming Jon and has some emotional investment besides that because he thinks of Jon as his property; Jon at first isn't aware of this and then struggles with wanting to leave but also wanting to stick around because he's curious, and because on some level he wants Elias's approval. yep, check the box, that's A Relationship)
now this lack of character stuff isn't so much a problem in the early series when it's primarily about the shortform statements— a frame narrative, and a handful of constant characters to populate it, are handy for all kinds of reasons! there's a much better version of this series that casts Jon as a kind of occult Hercule Poirot, and afaict that was originally what the series was supposed to be. but once the show makes its ill-fated pivot towards drama, it has to be about the characters because that's all a drama is ever about, and the gaps become blindingly obvious especially because of the decision to make the first part of season 4 about Things Falling Apart
and like, listen, if you have a group of characters who are friends, and you're a drama, you kind of always want to do this, right? the Platonic ideal of this kind of thing is the lead up to the Buffy season 4 finale, where Spike tries to get everyone at loggerheads, and then all of season 6. but the reason that works on Buffy is that the viewer has a very clear idea of what all of these relationships are, and why they exist. take Xander and Buffy: Buffy loves Xander because he's a goof and he's sweet and he does the right thing when it counts, even though he's not special or strong; she needs someone like that, who knows and sees everything she is and yet still loves her from the ground, and it was never going to be Willow because Willow is also, in her way, part of the supernatural world. where's the wedge? Xander feels inadequate and like he has nothing to offer Buffy! boom, done, conflict generated.
but like...what is the conflict between Martin and Jon in early season 4? Martin used to be super involved and now he's not and there's kind of nothing to be done about it? Basira just randomly despises Jon because...she lost her partner, but never expresses it in a way that reads as anything other than petty sniping, which isn't really in line with the rough sketch of her character we've gotten so far? it really feels like the writers' room (well, one guy in this case) decided that there would be A Conflict at the beginning of season 4 between the characters, but never stopped to realize that with the board state as it was, there wasn't really a way to do that that made any sense, because we have no idea who these people are when they're together.
it's such a shame because the early season horror shorts really are so strong. I know the author cites MR James as his inspiration, and that shines through in a way that I'd confidently call an improvement on James' work! really well-crafted, minimalist horror with a laser focus on the story's core idea, the Thing that makes this tale scary— there's a wonderful intention to it that makes them a joy to listen to. I just wish it'd kept going like that...
