i think it’s a little funny, so here is my friend (B) and i (A) talking about kakairu!

A: Younger Iruka’s first love being Kakashi except Kakashi isn’t even a person in his eyes, Kakashi is this unattainable thing. Him getting over it but then when they’re older Kakashi noticing bits of Iruka everywhere.

A: Naruto constantly talking about Iruka-sensei this Iruka-sensei that and the shinobi of the village talk and whisper about how funny the guy who always gets mad at their shitty mission reports is.

A: And now Iruka is the unattainable one because they’re present together but in different worlds. Iruka is rooted to the village and Kakashi is not.

A: And Iruka is all grown up now and he is competent and put-together and he is happy and finally content and Kakashi is still the mess he was when he was younger and in the end both of them have still never said a word to each other.

Kakashi couldn't have asked for a better friend than Obito. Similarly, he couldn't help but desire Obito's younger brother, Iruka. He would have loved to have both, if Obito hadn't made it clear that no one could lay a finger on his little brother. For many years, this duality of desires continued in secret. Kakashi pretended not to have no interest in Iruka, ignoring every single dirty thought, and at the same time he stood by, watching, patiently waiting for an opportunity.

What he didn't expect was that this chance would arise unexpectedly, during a Halloween party. Obito had been adamant that Kakashi couldn't pursue his brother, but he had never accounted for extraordinary situations, like when he’s wearing a mask, and the embodiment of temptation returns after a year, dressed as an angel.

For this plan to work, the mask had to cease being an accessory and transform into an identity. With it, Kakashi became Ghostface, and with it, all barriers vanished. Thus, a pursuit began, one where the outcome rested solely on the will of Iruka, the far-from-innocent, overprotected younger brother.

Because when you're being followed, there are only two options left: to scream or to seize the opportunity.

I've been rewatching Naruto lately and it made me have a dream about this girlie and decided to turn her into my oc. Her name is Ira and she's a very sweet genjutsu user. Backstory under the cut! Don't expand if you don't want to read it and are only here for the art.

Ira was born in the Land of Sound (Oto no Kuni), she has little recollection of her clan, not even remembering her own family name. The only thing she knows is that her parents and relatives were one of the many murdered during the conquering of the now Otogakure. Being an orphan for as long as she can remember, people started thinking she was maybe a lost member of the Uzumaki clan thanks to her red hair, and that rumour led to her being targeted by many people, but the only one that managed to catch this very elusive and cunning child was Orochimaru. Ira became an experiment, multiple attempts to push her body beyond it's limits happened and some of Orochimaru's biggest failures of modifications were attributed to her lack of constitution and chackra. The girl quickly proved to not be an Uzumaki afterall, but that did not stop the research. One of the many attempts Orochimaru had made to improve the girl was the creation of an "artificial" sharingan, which of course, failed, turning her visually impaired and with useless red eyes. The only experiment somewhat sucessful was her vocal cords. Orochimaru had noticed the girl would often sing to calm herself down while in captivity, so a enhancer was put in her throat. With this new ability, she could perform a powerful genjutsu that eventually helped her escape the snake's laboratory. Whilst trying to find a safe place to rest and maybe forget what happened to her all throughout her childhood, she ended up meeting a disguised Konoha kunoichi by the name of Ema, who took her in during her time in the Land of Sound and taught Ira all she knew about being a ninja. Her peaceful life however, was short lived. One day while foraging, Ira watched as shinobi descended upon Ema, taking her life and forcing Ira to use her voice genjutsu. Thanks to Ira's still weak constitution and low chackra reserve, the genjutsu wasn't fully effective, one of the shinobi managing to break away from it and going to slash her neck. At that moment, Ema's training kicked in and Ira avoided the fatal blow, instead having her face torn by a kunai cheek to cheek. She passed out due to the shock, the ninjas deciding to leave her to bleed to death, but the girl proved more resilient than one would believe. She woke up, now scarred with a forever open mouth and a mother figure lost. She took Ema's shirt, necklace, sword and bandana (removing the symbol of Konoha) and promised to grow strong enough to earn Ema's attire. Ira became a sort of legend in Otogakure, not many people even believing "The Death Song Shinobi" was real, but after the Fourth Shinobi War, she became less shy about her efforts and got more involved in the reconstruction of the village as a proper shinobi one. She is now the sensei of many genin of the sound and proudly wears Ema's attire as she peforms her duty.

Ira is the same age as the old shinobi of Konoha (Kakashi, Iruka, Kurenai, Guy...). She tried to avoid getting caught in any of the wars and battles that happened during her younger years, although she did travel to the places where battles were ocurring. She spent less time on the battlefield and more time helping civilians relocate into safety and finding food for any refugees she came across. A real "Robin Hood" type ninja, 'till this day she refuses to put an identification symbol on her bandana believing that "little does it matter where i come from, a person in need won't look at your head when you offer a helping hand." She thinks Konoha is a swell place, afterall, they were the ones that raised and approved of Ema as a shinobi. She has met the retired rokudaime, and thinks he's way too calm for a former leader. Ira often tries to get a reaction out of him by attacking his pride, but he does not seem to take her very seriously, which drives her INSANE.

Ira is very serious while on duty, but quickly lights up once she is on her break. In Otogakure, she is often called "The Two-Faced Ninja" for how suddenly her behavior changes when next to her students. From a serious, matter-of-fact shinobi, to a cool, cringey, grandma figure. Although she works in the renovation of the Hidden Village of Sound, she has managed to avoid ever dealing with Orochimaru, claiming that it is best for everyone's sake if she never sees his face again. "It takes a lot of concentration out of me to not let my song affect my allies, and let's just say that if i have him in front of me, i won't care for who i harm with my voice." Ira wants what's best for the village, longing to see her land as how Ema used to describe it before the conquering. She wants people to thrive and for no child to ever have to live the way she has lived thanks to wars she didn't understand.

She is the sensei of many genin, but her favorite group is Kirima, Mitura and Keiga (i'll probably draw them in the future), which are the same age as Boruto's group.

Who are your favorite characters to ship with Gai? While I’ve come across some very nice fan art and stories of him with Kakashi, there’s a part of me that doesn’t want to disrupt their epic bromance.

Gai is so shippable because he’d be the most supportive, thoughtful, enthusiastic, and optimistic partner anyone could ask for. So with that being said, I’m here for most of Gai ships even if they’re not my personal faves.

But some alternatives;

GaiGen - Genma better not her my man in any way shape or form or else 👊 but chill x chaotic is one of my favorite ship tropes

IruGai - he’d stress Iruka out a bit, but all in good fun and Iruka would have a date to Naruto’s wedding. Both are fatherly/big brother types to the younger ninjas and you’d know they’d love talking about their students together.

InoiGai - Gai brought a bouquet, okay? A man that can appreciate flowers and a man that owns a flower shop *chef’s kiss* also imagine Inoichi trying to go his job with Gai there 😆

GaiKure - another chill x Chaotic Gai is AMAZING with kids and him being Mirai’s stepdad would be cute.

AnkoGai - one of the few on this list that can semi match his energy (I’m not usually into same same ships) and give him a hard (but fun) time. Also Gai would happily buy her all the sweets she could possibly want.

Possibly GaiTsuna - Gai would be like a sugar baby minus the founds because Tsunade’s luck, not that he want her to found his lifestyle.

GaiMei - y’all people that say Gai isn’t “conventionally attractive” can hush, he’s handsome and Mei likes Handsome men. Kirigakure can use someone with Gai’s spirit and Mei would get that ring 💍

KisaGai - I have no sound reason for this other than I love them both and their my tiddie boys.

ObiGai - it’s toxic.. but tiddies 👀

GaiNaga - Nagato needs love too and I sickly bf x health nut bf? Nagato would be the best cared for Uzumaki with Gai

B/Gai - killer b can drop some bars and Gai can bust some moves, love it

Why do you think Naruto is no longer wearing his hitai-ate in Boruto?

Short answer: to show off his sexy receding hairline.

Really long heavily SNS-based answer:

Here we get the first glimpse of its meaning.

But in general it is described as something to be an honorable and important part of a village’s tradition. Not wearing it could be seen as disrespectful some say yet it isn’t really necessary. Akatsuki members still wear theirs but their villages’s symbols are scratched out. A statement. Although this is different for Pain and Konan.

So, what does this mean for Naruto?

A lot.

Look, you may say I’m overthinking it but I honestly believe that Naruto not wearing his Hitai-ate now is a statement in itself. If you consider everything else as well. Chapter 700 was written with so much haste and it was lathered in defeat. Nothing about it said “satisfaction” or “happy Shonen ending” the way it was supposed to be.

Naruto hated the people from his village (naturally), but that had changed-yes?

In the end he was loved and acknowledged by many.. (Yet in Gaiden he tells Sarada that former Hokage have said that they see the village as family not necessarily talking about himself. Which is... funny.)

But apart from the feelings he held for Sasuke which he talked about later in the story, Iruka was the first person to voice out what he truly thought about Naruto. He was acknowledged as not “a demon fox” but as himself. “Uzumaki Naruto!!”.

And it is through that acknowledgement and through that bond that kid Naruto receives that Hitai-ate:

Naruto ends up hugging Iruka after that.

It’s no secret that he’s very proud of it too. As he should. It is mentioned again when he comes back to the village after the Tsunade Arc.

And after talking with Iruka for a while again:

It highlights the importance it holds for Naruto as a chapter later he says this to Sasuke:

He’s telling him to put on the Hitai-ate because:

Sasuke refuses. I always wondered and haven’t really seen people talk about it but it seems like Naruto and Sasuke hold a slightly different meaning towards this. Or the same but it means more to Naruto than Sasuke. Obviously Naruto wants Sasuke to wear his Hitai-ate to fight on equal grounds as Konoha Ninja. However Sasuke here is being cocky and says Naruto is below him when it comes to strength. But he’s also frustrated, traumatized and pissed off. Naruto is only egging him on by calling him “Sasuke-chan” and getting cocky himself.

The symbol isn’t just about strength. Naruto wants Sasuke to acknowledge him even though Sasuke already has before by saying he wanted to fight him.

Naruto in the raw Manga has “shivering feelings of excitement”, sfx’s that are apparently used in Hentai.. (Hey, that’s what I read. Go complain to Kishimoto.) And instead they fight both verbally and physically without understanding the other. Both of them are so frustrated and hurt that if Kakashi didn’t interfere, we would’ve had a very short story. It isn’t the fight they wanted.

Nor was their next fight.

But in VotE1, Sasuke calls Naruto his closest friend and they both acknowledge how strong their bond is. Which is why Sasuke needs to cut Naruto off and can’t in the end. It is also the fight where they slowly start to understand a little more about each other. Sasuke putting on the Hitai-ate I think wasn’t just because he acknowledged Naruto’s strength. He could’ve done that earlier in the fight but he didn’t. It was obvious Sasuke lied about that. (Manga composition rule.. shadows and all.) Naruto not being able to scratch his forehead was just a poor excuse and a brilliant segue towards anti-Konoha symbolism. Could it be that Kishimoto is a great writer? Well, yes!

He put it on after Naruto said:

And after he thought of them smiling at each other when they were kids. (Edit: uh, younger. The lake scene.)

He awakened his third Tomoe then.

And it’s also really interesting that when Naruto went to face Sasuke much later he was calm. They exchanged fists and went to their own little space unreachable to others:

When Naruto went to tell him how glad he was to have met Sasuke, to not become a victim but also have his resolve set to not ever give up on him- he wasn’t wearing his Hitai-ate.. why?

Because Naruto didn’t go ranting to Sasuke as a villager of Konoha. And I think this detail is what makes this scene even more special. Konoha was set on “getting rid of rogue Shinobi Sasuke” and Naruto wasn’t having it. He wasn’t going to stand before him wearing his Hitai-ate proudly when that symbol now feels too heavy. Naruto was the only one to not give up on Sasuke while everyone else including his “team-mates” were ready to kill him. Literally standing next to him, weapons ready.

Instead Naruto asks Sasuke if he saw what was inside his heart and continues to ramble on a little embarrassed.. touching his forehead as if to hint something to the reader.

“Heheheh.. if we really do take this all the way to the end, and we both die.. we won’t be Uchiha, Jinchuuriki’s or anything.”

Just Naruto and Sasuke. No burdens or responsibilities and if that means dying, being together with Sasuke in another world/afterlife then he’d be okay with that. Do you understand the severity of that?!! Sasuke himself acknowledges Naruto’s confession as caring asking him why he does so much but still feels like he needs to reject what he stands for. Which is a lot.

In the Manga during VotE2, Naruto’s Hitai-ate falls off right after Naruto and Sasuke are unable to make the “seal of reconciliation” as kids in a memory.

In the end they lay side by side both not wearing the Hitai-ate but on the reconciliation seal with a heart-shaped pool of blood between them.

I could go on and on about this last conversation they have, but the point about this is that it all came full-circle and it makes sense. The Hitai-ate is an important detail and Naruto isn’t wearing it randomly. Kishimoto in the end didn’t just let it fall off his head randomly either because he timed it perfectly with the reconciliation-seal memories. Starting VotE2 with the Hitai-ate and ending on “equal grounds” without it is intentional. Remember Naruto’s words?

“Heheheh.. if we really do take this all the way to the end, and we both die.. we won’t be Uchiha, Jinchuuriki’s or anything.”

Naruto there thought he was in heaven when he looked at his side and saw Sasuke.. and he was fine with that. Burdens and responsibilities are tied to Konoha and so is the Hitai-ate.

Former Hokage like Hashimada and Minato were wearing theirs.

And if the thing means so much to Naruto, which it does, then why the hell did this happen in Chapter 700?:

I did the work, you come with your own conclusions for this one. Because at first I was really mad and have been for a long time.. but on the other hand.. doesn’t it kind of make sense? Naruto chose to get a prosthetic but refuses to wear his Hitai-ate, something he used to wear proudly. It could be connected to VotE2 like Sasuke refusing to get a prosthetic. It could be less connected to Konoha and more to Sasuke don’t you think?

Which in turn, makes Chapter 700 all the more sad...

They didn't die, they carry the weight of the world and ended up not how they wanted to despite the "co-operation" they planned for. Meaning there are still many burdens.

And before anyone else says it: In ‘Boruto’ when Naruto removed Boruto’s Hitai-ate when he cheated during the Chunin Exams it was because “he wasn’t qualified to be a Ninja”.

Boruto was disqualified and it’s an entirely different situation.

Naruto not wearing his Hitai-ate as Hokage is deliberate and not a design choice.

Cliché (Might Guy x Reader, Part I)

Synopsis: The real shinobi work went out to the fearless... which wasn’t you. Teaching was more in your realm of comfort, that is, until you’re teamed up with your old academy classmates to lead the next generation of genin.

Notes: Look familiar? It’s the rewrite! Cliché was my first ever fan fiction and I’ve wanted to rewrite it for a big anniversary (which was pushed way back). Dedicated to @altogetherweathered who has been here since day 1.

Sometimes you wondered where the years had gone.

Another year, another batch of genin to train.

You didn’t mind, of course. You looked into the eyes of your new students. Their glossy photographs stared back at you, pinned together with a paperclip. Ryo, Hikaru, Takahiro. They looked sweet and overall, nothing special. They would do nicely. Your eyes scanned the roster, thumbs creasing the paper at the sides as the material began to moisten slightly under the sweaty pads of your fingers. You felt that perhaps you were better at teaching than other types of shinobi work. The real jobs went to the fearless— and you could be honest with yourself— that just wasn’t you. At least with teaching, you received a steady salary. The missions on your roster were genin level for the most part (unless you were summoned for higher level field work which seldom happened). And while children were oftentimes unpredictable, you were never thrown anything outside of your comfort zone. And you could live with that.

Academy from age five, then the chūnin selection exams. A shinobi (or kunoichi) could have their lives planned out from age twelve. Between the mission work and the mandatory academic service required of all non-ANBU, you supposed that this was your prime. You flipped back to the front of your packet to the list of teams that were carefully selected weeks ago. Familiar names associated with faces you hadn’t seen since your teenage years.

Team Asuma. Now that would be one smart team. You remembered Sarutobi well and you didn’t have to have much interaction with him to recognize his brute strength. As you moved down the list, you wondered how he ended up.

Team Kurenai. She probably had about as many reservations as you did. At least that’s what you got through your passing interactions. You seemed to see her most often. Although you could chalk it up mostly to coincidence rather than the fact that Kurenai was a new team teacher this season. With duty, it had been a while since you had an actual conversation with any of your classmates, after all. It was nice knowing you might have a potential ally in all of this. Your eyes fluttered down at the list of names under her. None that you recognized. Although, you weren’t sure why you would recognize any names on the list to begin with.

Team Kakashi. Spirits, bless those children.

Team Guy. You paused. Now there was an underdog. It didn’t take much thinking to remember Might Guy (for he was always far too loud and flashy to forget). A certain amount of anxiety hung over your head like a cloud as a nervous flurry made its way into your chest. You thought back to your academy days, inhaling sharply, as you slowly tried to convince yourself; you’re an adult now, things will be different this time.

“You’re here early.” You barely heard Iruka’s voice over the sound of your yelp. You scrambled back, causing the both of you to stumble in surprise. The younger shinobi held his hands up to his chest, a sheepish expression morphing his lips into an awkward smile. Sheer mortification overtook your heart and your face. Being snuck up on in your line of work was surely something that would keep you up at night for years to come. You fumbled with the roster, putting it down on the desk before remembering that you were supposed to have it anyway.

“So sorry, I was here to pick up the roster and uh… look for you!” You picked the packet back up, gesturing to him with it. He nodded knowingly before making his way over to flip through his masterlist. “Since, you know, I couldn’t make it earlier.”

“Yeah, no, I’m sorry that I wasn’t here. I’m glad you could stop by.” Iruka laughed and the tension in your raised shoulders eased the slightest bit. You wished that you and Iruka were in the same class during the Academy. Maybe things would have been different if you were born two years later. You had to wonder. “I’m still a strong believer that if academic service is required, then sensei should at least be intelligible to be pulled for mission work. I think every year I’ve worked here the team leaders have tried to meet and it’s never worked out for anyone. But I don’t have to tell you that.”

Iruka looked up from his paper flipping, standing with one hand shoved in his pocket as he offered you another gentle smile. You hummed in agreement, mirroring his expression. You had been in mission selection meetings all morning, but as to be expected, you were put on paper-based duties at home base. In all honesty, you were relieved to have missed the action yet again. You always were, although it meant that you didn’t get a lot of interaction with shinobi around your class age. Typically, most of your time revolved around your students and perhaps the jōnin from other student teams if not the same handful of people in the Hokage’s office. Although that interaction was scarce.

“Then I guess it was the usual?” you asked, pulling up a spare chair. Iruka bobbed his head from side to side as he cast his eyes up diagonally.

“Just Kurenai and Asuma. You know how Kakashi is.”

“If timing wasn’t an issue, I’d say that getting to talk to you one-on-one would be a far better system anyway.” You flipped the first page of your information packet, bouncing from the overview to the information specific to your team. “So, tell me about these three. What stands out to you?”

You listened carefully as Iruka walked you through your new team, scribbling down on your papers every now and again. He, like the many other times you had gone over teams with him, was as thorough as you liked. The more you knew about your students from someone who knew them on an academic level— their learning style, their strengths, their weaknesses, their quirks— the more confident you felt in leading them. From your earlier, brief, passing interaction, you knew Kurenai to have a similar team structure: a quiet boy, a quiet girl, and a slightly rowdy boy, all with kekkei genkai. Iruka watched on as you made the last of your notes.

Loud footsteps made their way down the hallway. The sound of boots on tile grew closer, causing both you and Iruka to look towards the door before it swung open with a slam.

“Am I too late?!” You unconsciously sank back into your chair as Might Guy appeared in the doorway. You raised your packet up, although not far enough up to cover your face. You, after all, didn’t want to make your discomfort obvious. Iruka sighed as he quickly thumbed through the papers on his desk.

“Not too late, I have your team overview here.”

“You’re a life-saver, Iruka. Have I told you that?” Guy lumbered over with an exaggerated look of exasperation. Despite your efforts to disappear into your seat (you probably could have if you weaved your hand signs fast enough), Guy’s eyes met yours. The temperature of your cheeks rose as your lips threatened to form a grimace. He glanced from you to Iruka. “Did we have a meeting?”

“No, we were just going over—”

— “I was just going!” You stood a bit too fast and exclaimed a bit too loud. Guy didn’t seem to notice or mind. Iruka handed him his student list. You gripped your own in your hand, trying to work up the courage to inch towards the exit.

“Did you want to go over anything?” Iruka asked Guy, who shook his head. Guy held up a hand, lids closed in self-assurance.

“No worries, my friend, I don’t need to know anything about these new youngins to know that they’re goin’ to be fiery with the hot passion of their youth!” Iruka nodded along. Whatever that means. The both of you made eye contact as you took a few quiet steps towards the door. You mouthed a quick thanks before attempting to take your leave, but Might Guy was far too quick. “Oh!” He exclaimed, causing you to nearly jump. “You’re on your way out? We can talk about this team stuff! What’s your name again?”

Guy strode up to you, rambling more about something that you couldn’t register. You couldn’t look him in his face. Instead, you stood, mostly frozen, staring at the open collar of his jōnin vest. The vest had to be the only thing about his ensemble that changed since your academy days. That and his overall physique. Guy always said that he’d grow tall back when you were children and his prediction certainly came true. If only all wishful thinking could get you what you wanted. You could take in his scent from where you stood. It reminded you of something akin to a freshener sachet for utility bags: woodsy, dark, and clean.

You felt like you were about to pass out.

“I, uh, actually had more questions for Iruka,” you somehow managed to stifle out. You had no idea how you were still standing, let alone talking. Guy didn’t seem to notice your daze and in a moment of unrecallable memories, he disappeared.

The front of a chair knocked against the back of your knees and that’s all it took for you to plop down in the seat. Iruka stood to your side, hand on the top rail as he fanned you with his student file. He took in your flustered face in silence. He thought it best not to remark on your decade old crush or let on to the fact that everyone seemed to know except for Might Guy.

I was tagged by @lurkingshan, thank you very much (´꒳`)♡ My memory is not the best so some of these are going to be a little challenging lol but let’s try!

1. What ship were you completely obsessed with when you were a teenager, but now you don't care anymore?

I don’t know how to “not care” about things I once loved I’m afraid lol. But ships that consumed my life that I now don’t think about very often and am more “what a good surprise to see you here, I still like you" than "oh you are back to consume my life for the next two to fifteen months" are most of the things I watched when I was younger: Logan/Max from Dark Angel, Sam/Jack and Daniel/Jack from Stargate:SG1, Jim/Blair from The Sentinel, Piper/Leo from Charmed, Tim/Tony and Gibbs/Tony from NCIS, etc...

2. Which ship would you consider your first one?

Hmmm… I think the first time I felt emotionally invested in two characters ending up together – in a “watching religiously and asking my mom to tape the wedding episode because we would be traveling on the day it was to be diffused” kind of way – is Fran Fine and Maxwell Sheffield from The Nanny.

We knew they were end game, but STILL!

3. Your first fanfic belonged to which couple?

Oh, good question… I came into fandom via manga and while they were not the ones I shipped the hardest (I was a hardcore Gaara/Lee fan ♡♡♡), I think the first fics I read were NaruSasu and/or Kakashi/Iruka – on personal fan websites.

The first shipping fic I wrote hmmm… I think it actually was some Kakashi/Iruka? I tumbled into fandom really fast once I found it so it’s a bit of a blur lol but yeah, pretty sure it was something Naruto related.

4. Do you remember the first couple you saw a fanart over?

… Not really, but probably either something from One Piece (Zorro/Luffy or Zorro/Sanji) or Neon Genesis Evangelion – those two were the very first manga I read (circa 2002), and I vaguely remember checking them on Google Image for my favorite hobby: “collecting images from the internet that I would then organize carefully in the computer’s little folders” so I must have found some cute stuffs that I didn’t even realize were shipping…

5. Did you ever get into ship discourse?

No. While I generally have strong opinions about stuff, I am pretty non confrontational and I’m here for a good time, not to fight with people, so I avoid it. I’ve seen stuffs that I’m glad I didn’t poke with a ten feet pole. On top of that, I am a huge believer and practitioner of “shipping one character with more than one person (in a polycule or not)” so ship wars have never made much sense to me. Even in qL, even when I really adore the endgame couple(s), I often like thinking of the options, the what-if, etc. so fighting about that does not sound appealing lol

6. Did you used to have any no-otp or have it currently?

Talking about my very first fandoms, I never wanted Sakura with either Naruto nor Sasuke lol I loved her, but hated the idea of either options. Still not sold on it tbh. I also really hated the idea of Hermione with either of the other two lsdfj same reason, I loved her so much, and I loved that they were friends!

I have ships I am uninterested in but I always feel like notp is a little stronger than that, so I don’t think I have any currently.

7. Who were the couple in the last fanfic you read?

Oof, okay, life does come back full circle lol I binged the One Piece Live Action at the start of the month, so the last fics I’ve read since were all Zorro/Luffy.

8. Currently, do you have any OTPs?

DO I EVER?? I have OTP that have been in my heart since I’m 10. And, I mean, by virtue of watching so much QL I have an OTP in every couple I watch get together for 8 to 12 episodes, I’m a big, mushy romantic. Also I will daydream about ships from about anything I watch so…But! My current OTP, the one that owns my heart, that gets me to literally squeal in delight, makes me gasp and cry and twirl my hair while kicking my feet is Nomoto and Kasuga from She loves to cook and she loves to eat!

I love them sooooo much it’d be ridiculous if I had any sort of dignity about that kind of things (I don’t) (*´▽`*)

9. Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting together?

Ok you know what? I rewatched some episodes with my mom over my christmas break so I will say yes, Jack O’Neil and Samantha Carter in Stargate:SG1. Yeah, yeah I don’t care that he is her commanding officer and blablabla.

After all this teasing, damn, we could have gotten a little something something when the team finally breaks alright?

10. Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they are kind of interesting?

I can’t really think of anything right now to be honest… I feel like anything I’d feel strongly enough to remember I would still dislike now, though, to be frank.

11. Do you have any ship that, in the past, was considered normal but now you would be canceled over?

I guess? I mean, I came to fandom and to QL via yaoi – wich I started reading around 2005, so you can imagine the amount of “problematic” content I enjoyed. Age gaps (I was a HUGE fan of Naono Bohra who like those a lot), power imbalance, dub-con (one of the first yaoi translated in France was Gravitation), and so on and so forth.

12. What was your favorite crack ship?

I can’t answer that one, mainly because I used to have so many of them (I still do, don’t look at me). I got into superheros comics when I was something like 18 and I did RP with a friend where looking back, it seems like our main game was to pair everyone no matter how silly it might have been. I guess in those, I still have a fondness for everything we did that crossed the DC/Marvel divide. We also played a lot with those random ship generators? They gave you two characters and you tried to find a way to make it work. I still like those!

13. Who is the couple you read more fanfics of?

Across all of time?? I… have no idea… like really none. Recently, it’s probably any variations of 3zuns from The Untamed, but for the early years I could not say.

14. What most of your ships usually have in common?

The love I have for them (*¯︶¯*)

Joke aside, I’m not sure? I’m a simple creature, I’m easily swayed, if there is something compelling in the dynamic, I will be interested. I like them sweet but I also have pretty toxic ships, so I think the main thing for me is that there is something interesting going on that makes me want to root for them and/or think about them and how they work together.

15. What do you absolutely hate in a ship?

I need to believe there is a way for them to genuinely love each other. But sometimes, ~the vibes~ just feel rancid to me and I can’t get into it, I can’t explain more than that ^^”

sweaty soggy noodle man kakashi is who this is all going to be about so. I don't think everyone gets him wrong. a lot of people do but it's usually bc they're too horny to care lol

have you seen him? have you felt his vibes? he is lazy by nature and recoils away from most physical contact that isn't necessary to do his job (and even he doesn't seem to enjoy it). there are like 7 total people he even lets see his face (while knowing it is his face) and most of them are dead by the time he is 13. hang out? sure. do nice domestic couple things? sounds lovely. get naked and fuck? so an enemy can kill him or a loved one while he's distracted? no. he probably has tried scheduling his shits and showers with gai so he's never actually vulnerable. he's also so ace.

uhhh that kakashi would not only have sex but would want you to call him daddy. that nearly 50 year kakashi who has never worn sunscreen in his life shouldn't actually look old/older. that a young looking kakashi is a health looking kakashi.

Yaknow how Obito's dream that naruto sees is Obito is back in konoha and becoming hokage but Rin is still dead? like what does obito wish had changed? I think it's if Minato had recognized him. I think Obito was actually praying and hoping for Minato to realize who he was fighting. Obito had a seal on his heart. Minato could have saved him if Minato pulled his head out of his ass for more that 5 mins at a time.

He thinks the other is joking at first--- But then he remembers this is Sasuke and even as a child in his class, the boy hadn't had much of a sense of humor. Quiet, a little sullen but sharp as a tack and inquisitive. Not a natural genius, but a hard working one. Iruka had enjoyed having him in his class.

So either the younger man really didn't remember him (which was rude. He taught him longer than Kakashi had) or he was saying it to make him feel hurt. Iruka was leaning towards the latter.

Feel Like A Failure

Jiraiya x Reader

Synopsis: upon Jiraiyas return, you learned that he was hurt while trying to help Naruto unleash the tails. Being the one that raised Naruto, you felt sick upon the sight of the scar, wondering if you could have done something to prevent it.

A/n: Fluff and angst. My specialty. Also I will admit that this scene had me screaming when I first saw it almost two years ago.

"Show it to me"

Your words had him cringing beside you. All he wanted was to cuddle with you and get a nap in, but the minute your fingers touched his chest he knew it was all over. There was no hiding the prominent and deep scar that resided there.

"Y/n..."

"Jiraiya so help me. Show it to me" you snapped, body flying up from where you were laying beside him in order to straddle his hips. He let out a groan as your fingers immediately grasped the hem of his shirt, your eyes locked with his. Challenging him to see who would show it first. "Before you do this. Know that it wasn't his fault.

Your blood ran cold and your eyes widened as you recalled the way it felt above the shirt. It felt like...

"I'm gonna be sick" you whimpered out, but you pushed up the material none the less. Jiraiya winced at the way your face paled. He didn't think it looked terrible, but you didn't care about how it looked. You cared about how it was created. "Oh..." you breathed out, shaky fingers lowering to trace the tail shape formations above his abs. "It wasn't his fault... I promise you-"

"You're right.... It's mine"

Jiraiya felt his heart stop at your words. Your fault??? How was this your fault??? Your shaky intake of breath brought him back but your teary eyes confused him further. "My love how is this your fault? I was the one that released it" he whispered, large hand coming up to cover the one still tracing the scar, stopping it in its place. He could tell that you were going deeper and deeper into a dark mindset and he had to stop it quickly. "I should have trained him better. Should have helped him with releasing when he was younger. He would have had better control and, and and-"

"And he would have killed you" Jiraiya's stern voice cut through your silly rambling. Your job was to love him and keep him alive and safe, it wasn't your job to release the beast inside of him. Still, despite his words, you shook your head violently as you ripped your pinned hand away from him. He tried to reach for you, seeing you slink deeper and deeper into your mind but you climbed off of him and the bed before he had the chance. "He should have started training earlier. I should have disciplined him more and pushed him harder. But I thought that who he was was fine. To me he was fine, I still think he's fine but... but this... Gods... I feel like a failure"

Jiraiya shot off the bed, hand ripping down his shirt as he swooped your pacing form into his embrace. "You did just fine. No one could have raised him better than you did so don't you dare say you feel like a failure. You gave up your childhood to raise him.-"

"He hurt you Jiraiya-"

"He would have killed you. I would rather be hurt than without you" his anger wasn't directed at you, but more so the dark thoughts you always let run wild in your mind. His eyes, full of love and adoration, searched your teary ones, as if hoping to find the parasite that made you think this way. Your head bowed in shame, hands intertwining with one another as you tried to ignore his heavy gaze. "Hey" your eyes slowly raised to his and while you tried your best to keep them locked, you couldn't help but look away when it got too intense.

"You releasing it earlier would have caused so many deaths... He wasn't ready for that, Y/n. You did the best thing you could do for him, and that was instilling hope and preserverance deep within him. That kid doesn't give up on anything. And while it is annoying, I can't help but feel proud of you. Because you did that. Not me, not Kakashi, not Iruga-"

"Iruka" you corrected, causing him to roll his eyes before continuing.

"Yes Iruka sorry. None of them could have done that. So yeah, he left a nasty scar on me, but that kid is going to go so far thanks to you." A smile formed on your lips at his little speech. "You're cheesy" you giggled, cheeks growing red as he simply smiled lovingly at you. "I guess you've instilled a bit of romance into me, what can I say" he cooed out, eyes glinting with pure, unfiltered love. You return the smile before pressing your lips sweetly against his. "Now that you know you aren't a failure... Can we take a nap now?"

You let out a booming laugh, eyes crinkling as you took in his request. "Sure my love. We can nap all week if you'd like to"

Honestly I love and respect Sasuke so much for putting himself and his issues first, not his love life, not patriotism of any kind, not even Naruto.

One way or another, everyone in Konoha wanted him to pick a different battle, not understanding that he was not solely after revenge, but closure. No one knew the level of psychological damage he received from Itachi. It's not that Sasuke did not want to stay or that he didn't love his team. It's that it'd have kill him —to stay. No one there understood how he felt, no one there understood the magnitude of his suffering.

Yes, Kakashi went through awful things, lost the people he loved the most. Yet he found solace in following Sakumo and Obito's dream of defending the village and his comrades. He was honoring the memory of those he loved, Rin and Minato, Obito and Sakumo. He was loyal to their home.

That's why his situation can't be compared to the Uchiha Massacre. Sasuke was so much younger. He grew up in different circumstances, because Kakashi lost everyone at war, on the line of duty. Sasuke was betrayed by the person he admired and loved above all. They all talked as if they knew how it felt, they all told Sasuke how to deal with it, so yeah he was alone.

Not even Naruto understood, like I said.

With time, Naruto would reach the conclusion that his desire to save Sasuke was partially due his shinobi way of life, partially because Naruto could have ended just like that. Where Itachi was Sasuke breaking point (for the worst), Iruka was Naruto's saving grace. But such realization would take him years of anguish and suffering from both parts; why would Sasuke wait for them to see it?

The most important thing for Sasuke, right since the beginning, was his family, his clan. The most important person for him was Itachi, more than Naruto. His most important mission / goal was not protecting his friends or the Hidden Leaf, but finding closure for himself and his clan.

And like I said, I admire that with all my heart.

I'm not talking about if what he did was right or wrong, if he was in complete control of his actions or if he was manipulated by his trauma and other people, whatever. I'm not questioning his love for team 7 or how important they are to him. I'm not even undermining Orochimaru's connection with him, or team Takas importance, or if he should love Konoha or destroy it, if the Uchihas deserved his love and loyalty, if he deserved to live or die.

All I'm saying is that his reasons to put himself as his priority are as valid as Naruto's reasons to do what he does or seek what he seeks. Sasuke is not a worst character for not being like Naruto or any of his fellow konoha shinobis. He's not heartless for taking care of his own story or leaving a place where he can't find what he's looking for. For me he is one of the most real and human characters in the whole series, he's interesting, his motivation is complex in its roots and he is sooo much more than his simplified depiction in most fanworks.

I really enjoy Sasuke for himself, as an individual character with his own plot and decisions.

actually readmore very tangentially related to the art that came out of the queue tonight

this is very understandable and fine but i genuinely think that naruto is far more important to yamato than yamato is to naruto in canon like yamato IS ride or die for naruto he's like so protective and caring of naruto he was told "This kid is your responsibility and because of the power that lives in you and the power that lives in him you are temporarilly coming out of the shadows and into the light" and like he took that to HEART didnt he and like he clearly really loves team seven and loved being captain (co-captain) of team seven!! first time hes allowed to really be "himself" whoever the fuck that is, out in the sunlight, and like he is teaching kids and hes teaching Kakashi's kids and like he clearly liked that so much and being important to them and them being important to him and like there's rlly no doubt in my mind that he sees naruto as somebody very dear to him not unlike a son or a nephew or a little brother

i don't think naruto experiences their relationship the same way tho LIKE. when it comes to father figures he canonically views iruka as...as close to a dad as hes ever had—and there's kakashi too, who is emotionally distant often and just fucking weird even more often, but is obviously trying his best and Obviously cares, and then there is jiraiya, who is a huge fucking asshole and repeatedly denied naruto affection when naruto needed it but STILL eventually came around and clearly is somebody very meaningful and important to naruto, and tsunade!!!! tsunade who said she sees him almost like a son. who teases naruto and allows naruto to tease her back (allow, i say, as tho she could really stop him. this is who he is)

and then there is Yamato! He is in many ways very respectful of naruto as a shinobi, he is carefully distant (as he is with everyone) he is very honest and upfront with Naruto, but the closest he comes to any kind of direct affection is perhaps paying for food (as he does on their first mission, as kakashi goads him into later) or building a very fancy little resting house, or teasing naruto, or taking care of him when he is unwell. he's There and he Cares but hes...he's Captain Yamato. u know?

which is good! objectively its fantastic that by the point that yamato shows up, enough adults in naruto's life love and support him that he does not hunger for it anymore in the desperate way he did when he was younger!!! thats great! esp bc it was so so so so so fucking sad see the adults in his life deny him the affection he was so OBVIOUSLY needing

and also objectively this is the story telling modus operandi of naruto, he's the main character and he rolls into peoples lives like a category 5 hurricane uprooting them and leaving them blinking at bright sunlight in confusion and awe before he moves on to the next one. its very normal

i just also am like god damn. being in charge of team seven but specifically naruto completely flipped yamato's understanding of himself and his life and his place in the world and naruto probably has no fucking idea and you KNOW yamato isn't going to fucking tell naruto or any of the team because yamato does not seem to have conversations like that and certainly not with the kids.

Uchiha Naori

Daughter of Mikoto and a Mortal man, Naori is a well known Dami God respected for her skills in tricking enemies and protecting the vulnerable and weak.

Her eyes are bright red with black swirls, standing out from mortal’s. They also allow her to put opponents under illusion’s that leave them vulnerable to attack.

Lived for three hundred years before losing her life in a battle against the Demi-God child of Kakazu and one of his follower’s. The two of them killed each other in battle.

Kinoe/Tenzo/Yamato

Each version of this god is depicted with someone different by his side. Kinoe is often depicted standing in Hashirama’s shadow, or surrounded by a forest. Kinoe can also be depicted with Danzo hovering behind them holding out a hand over her as if pulling imaginary strings. Tenzo is depicted with Kakashi at his side and a cat mask in their hand.they uses the mask sometimes to hide his face from the other gods. Yamato is depicted with Iruka and Bee most if all but there are depictions of them with Kakashi, Rin, Naruto and Sai.

Many fables focus on Yamato’s relationship with Iruka and Bee, but their other most highlighted bond is with Kakashi.

Danzo is often depicted with Kinoe because as a young god Kinoe used to look up to and listen to Danzo. He influenced a lot of what they did and resulted in them getting a bad rep. It was only when Kakashi stepped in and became a block between Kinoe and Danzo that they were able to branch out and find their own path as a god.

Hashirama is depicted with Kinoe because they are often seen as a duplicate of him. An extension of one of the original three gods, and until Tenzo is formed they are often treated as little more than Hashirama’s copy.

Hiroki

Hiroki was born from the one night stand between Mortal Gai and The goddess of the ocean Rin. Rin never intended to sleep with Gai, only to meet him and see what it was that had hooked Kakashi in. Unfortunately for her, Gai was very smooth and she ended up in bed with him.

Although Kakashi was upset about Rin’s choice, he never held it against Hiroki and instead made it his mission to ensure that the child was well watched over.

Every night when Hiroki would sleep, there would be a light rain outside his window lulling him to sleep. Because of this Hiroki became used to the rain and came to love it more than any other weather.

Hiroki was three hundred years old still living as a mortal when his half sister Nakano was created. He knew of his papa’s new life and actually lived in the same village (gai was always born into the same village) but chose to keep his distance as losing his papa once had already hurt so much. After Nakano’s birth he would often find himself by the river leaving her gifts of books, toys and little cards that some of his younger patience would draw/write for her

Book two of the mock Icha Icha collection as Hatake Kakashi x Umino Iruka anthologies; Icha Icha Violence. This one was actually 20k longer than the first one, so she's a bit heftier. I'm trying to arrange specific fics to match the titles at least vaguely; so for violence, I decided to go for jutsu mishap/chakra related fics since they're often the result of violent interactions? That totally works, yup. 100%.

I'm actually inordinately pleased with this book since I found I had close to zero mishaps while working on it and the bookboard is basically perfectly spaced from the textblock like a normal book. It's always great to start to be able to streamline what works the best for you in any hobby and this book really helped in cementing some techniques.

Iruka had been having the dreams for as long as he could remember. After his parents’ death they had gone away for a time; then they’d come back with a vengeance, and he had spent the whole year he was fifteen in a haze, not sure whether he was re ally Iruka or whether he was another, younger boy who skipped stones and laughed and still had a living father.
