I am NOT Thank You Notes

Some disclaimers/notes!

These are the thank you notes from the photo book/liner notes of Stray Kids' I am NOT album, as best as I can translate them.

I do not speak much Korean, but I can read the alphabet and know some basic words. I took a picture of each page, scanned it via Google lens, and ran it through Google translate (and other sites as needed). After that, I cleaned up grammar and weird phrasing and sometimes had to go back and manually correct omissions or figure out where typos got mistranslated. It was kinda grueling at times ngl.

I omitted Woojin's notes, as most current Stays would probably rather it be that way, but I chose not to omit mentions of him in the others' notes. What they wrote is what they wrote.

Hyunjin's handwriting was horrific, so sometimes I truly just had to make my best guess at what he even attempted to write. If I got stuff wrong, blame him, not me.

I'm not gonna correct Felix's own English punctuation and grammar, but again, I'm leaving in his mistakes, and they are not my own 😭

Italics indicate parts that were already in English or the Roman alphabet and [brackets] indicate my own notes.

I left in most honorifics they used, including a common shortening of *seonsaengnim, ie teacher, but putting in addendums like "composer" after every composer listed got a bit tedious, so I left those out. Just assume they're being very respectful of everyone unless they're equal or younger in age lol.

You will quickly figure out that they're thanking a lot of the same people, but you get some quirks too, including some familiar names of other JYPE artists!

Hello! I have finally made my official debut! There are so many people who helped Chan come this far, and I am truly, truly grateful! Stray Kids has finally released their debut album!! Still, I still want to learn a lot about Korean culture, skills, and JYP style, and I am honored to be able to work as a JYP artist in the future. I will try my best. Thanks to CEO Song Ji-eun ♡♡ Thank you for taking care of us, helping us debut, and being with us in the future. Everything I watch in Jan 2024

I was going to post my annual everything I watched in 2023 post but I feel like I missed my opportunity, so here is my everything I watched in January 2024... (Be Warned there are some spoilers, I do try to mark them throughout the review)

My Lovely Boxer (2023, Kim Min-joo)

Main leads: Lee Sang-yeob, Kim So-hye, Park Ji-hwan, Kim Hyung-mook, Kim Jin-woo, Ha Seung-ri, Chae Won-bin

Country: S. Korea

Run: August 21 to Oct 2, 2023 (KBS2, Monday and Tuesday @21:45 (KST))

Episodes: 12, 70 min

Thoughts: Lee Kwon-sook (Kim So-hye) is a boxer who is forcibly thrown back into the world boxing that she has retired from by a sports agent Kim Tae-young (Lee Sang-yeob). I really liked how they balanced the characters. Lee Kwon-sook is a cheerful girl who is constantly haunted by her past. And she is allowed agency to do what she can do, despite the efforts of others. And the relationship between Lee Kwon-sook and Kim Tae-young, though slightly toxic, works in an odd way. I did have problems with how they reconnected her with her father.I personally wouldn’t have forgiven him. However, I loved the relationship with Han Ah-reum, and just how that story ends. I thought it was done very well. Overall I have really enjoyed this drama. Rating:

Unlock My Boss (2022-2023, Kim Hyung-min)

Thoughts: Oh wow, this is more enjoyable than I imagined. Chase Jong-hyeop as Park In-seong is so fun. He is adorable, down to earth but capable. Jun Se-yeon (Seo Eun-soo) was amazing and I loved her complexities as a character. And the trio of Kim Seon-joo (Park Sung-woong), Park In-seong, and Jun Se-yeon, was so fun and I loved the little family they formed. I literally cried so much during this show for no reason. Like the zoom into the phone literally made me sob each time for no reason. Rating: Who knew electronics can have that much range?

Night Has Come (2023, Kang Min-Ji)

Main leads: Lee Jae-In, Kim Woo-Seok, Choi Ye-Bin, Cha Woo-Min, Ahn Ji-Ho, Jung So-Ri

Country: S. Korea

Run: Dec 4,, 2023 ( U+mobiletv)

Episodes: 12, 35 to 40 min

Thoughts: This started off really good. A class gets thrust into a mafia game to the death. You along with the characters are wondering who is the mafia among the students and who is forcing this game. It is really interesting, but the episodes follow the same pattern. The end you find everything out, and it's kind of stupied. They had a classmate who committed sucide due to a badly edited image of herself on a skimply clad woman’s body. Which is yeah bad. Then her parents take revenge on the whole class. They are placed in this mafia simulator to repeat the game over and over again. It ends with Lee Yoon-seo able to remember everything, but still trapped in the simulator. Like where their parents are. People must be concerned right. Rating: Sisphyus boulder, I guess…

The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract (2023-2024, Go Nam-jeong)

Run: Nov 24, 2023 to Jan 6, 2024 (MBC TV Friday and Saturday @21:50 (KST))

Episodes: 12, 70 min

Thoughts: This was a cute drama. It starts off with a cute romance between a progressive woman in Joseon and a sick scholar. However, it quickly becomes a tragedy and she is sent to the year 2023 with her hand maid Sa-wol (Joo Hyun-young). It quickly becomes a fish out of water for Park Yeon-woo (Lee Se-young), but luckly she meets the recacrante of her late husband Kang Tae-ha (Bae In-hyuk) and they make a deal. It is a cute drama and I loved the cast of characters. Yeon-woo is easy to root for. Sa-wol is adorable, and adapts quickly. Kang Tae-ha is prickly but has a heart of gold. It's dramatic and fun. It's nothing special, but oh is it so good. My favorite part is Yeon-woo and Sa-wol’s relationship. Literally there is a scene with those two that reflects a romantic scene in Perfect Marriage Revenage (2023) which I can’t stop thinking about. Overall I just really enjoyed my time. Joseon Attorney: A Morality (2023,Choi Jin-young)

Main leads: Woo Do-hwan, Bona, Cha Hak-yeon

Country: S. Korea

Run: March 31 to May 5, 2023 (MBC TV Friday and Saturday @21:50 (KST))

Episodes: 16, 70 min

Thoughts: This was a lot like Taxi Driver. In the way you have an episodic feel with a charismatic male lead seeking revenge and helping people. I had a lot of fun with this show, and I don’t use the comparison lightly either. I really had fun with it. The romance was okay, but I liked the different stories, and the main revenge plot was easy to follow along with. Woo Do-hwan is a great actor and meant to be a leading man. Thoughts: This is a yearly anthogolgy series that follows various characters in various time periods with various goals. I thought a lot of them were really cool and interesting. “Love Attack” was by far one of my favorites, but I also really liked “The True Love of Madam” which was shocking for me. It was also hard to find any subs for “Overlap, Knife, Knife” so I had to rely on visual cues and the small amount of Korean I know. But I thought this was a fun anthrologie series, and the stories are fun and fresh. Rating: I love getting short and quick stories like this, its the reason I love short films so much.

They also lost me at the end, I can not lie. Rating/Spoiler: Also I would be so angery if I found out my family curse passed down for generations was over a misunderstanding. I would want an apology, reparations, and revenge. On another note, I would also be so pissed if I killed myself to save my servant's baby; then my boyfriend finished off the dying father, then cursed the child and its offspring. The sound mixing was off, they had limited cast (background actors is what you are looking for), no interesting lighting (but very well light- i.e the student film vibes), and the actors new to the scene. I loved every motherfucking moment. It was so cheesy, the script was bad, and nothing made sense. But I knew that it was made with passion. Rating: It would be horrifying being 20 forever

But I did think the revenge plot got uninteresting and confusing after a while. I do like the ending, I was pretty satisfied with where everyone ended up, which has been a long time since I’ve been this satisfied.

I loved the vibes, and I didn’t mind that revenge wasn’t the main plot. It's like the one line “my enemies will take themselves out before you get a chance to swing.” It was heartwarming and I’m glad that Cho Sam-dal was able to find peace in her hometown. I loved the feel of community. I loved all the Friendships. It was very lovely. And I’m happy at the ending. I will also give my entire heart to Cho Hae-dal and Cha Ha-yul. I loved their mother-daughter relationship. I wanted more screen time for both. Rating: I’m glad there is a little piece of heaven…

Thoughts: *Major Spoilers+ Rant ahead.* This show makes me unneccsarly angery. It is a daily drama and a Makjang to boot, so literally put any and all expectations in the gutter. Everything is nonsensical, and drawn out to reach the 119 mark. Storylines get dropped or move way too fast. It has a strange family tree and for a moment every single person was supposbly related. They have so much evidence agsaint the scheming Kang Ji-ho (Oh Chang-suk) and Joo Se-young (Han Ji-wan) but it goes nowhere. Speaking of Kang Ji-ho, he was just straight up dispicable. I would say more than Se-ypung of Ma Hyun-Deok (Ban Hyo-Jung). He was a terrible partner and father from the start. He literally tossed his entire family out the door for Se-young and eventual power. He only paid attention to his daughter Kang Han-Byeol (Kwon Dan-A) when she was able to benefit him. He was at best neglectful and at worst abusive towards her. Han-byeol was the true victim. Hye-soo (Kim Kyu-Seon) actually had a motive in the beginning. She was just pathetic and weak but once she returned they weirdly sidelined her. Also I don’t know why Kang Ji-ho never got prosecuted for trying to kill Hye-soo. Like I find that to be one of his more egregious crimes. Like that is the mother of your child. You gave your child so much trauma, for what? Power? Like when they tried to redeem him at the end I was just fed up. You can’t make hime out to be the big bad guy for 118 episodes, and then have him do one good thing. He is a bad father, and when Han Byeol grows up she will resent him. Rating: Fuck this show, like actually.

This entire time I just wanted Jang-hyun and Gil Chea together. Which took the entire part for them to finally be happy. I would recommend this drama to my friends. I wouldn't rewatch this drama.

I only really know Lee Kyu Hyung from Prison Playbook, so seeing him in this role, he's kinda hot. The archers are cool, hot damn. Ha Ri is my fav character. The archers in general. Okay, but the mouse was kinda cute before it went crazy. Omg that crawl slide on the hospital floor is legendary. The real chemistry is between Su Hyeok and Chung San. Bro the knife toss at Chung San was crazy. The library parkour was fun to watch. I would love a dad like Nam So Ju who is that committed to his values. Also, once he got dressed in black and got that gun, he got kinda hot. Honestly, Dae Su would be nice to have around. He's like committed to fighting, is real and honest, is entertaining, and is just a lovely fellow. Soo Hyuk is actually p good at fighting ngl.

Episode 15 "They Were All In The Same Team"

The 15th episode of Taxi Driver 2 begins with a flashback to Ha-Joon's childhood at a children's welfare home. The Bishop, who was then a priest, ran a secret organization at the facility where kidnapped children were brought for undisclosed reasons. As a child, Ha-Joon was bullied for not having his own name. In retaliation for the bullying, Ha-Joon killed another child named On Ha-Joon. The Bishop dismissed what Ha-Joon had done and asked Officer Hyun-Jo to dismiss the death of the real Ha-Joon as an accident. He ten praised Ha-Joon for winning the battle and gave him the identity of the new Ha-Joon. As he grew up, Ha-Joon followed in the footsteps of the Bishop and became Manager On, the Bishop's right-hand man. He is initiated into the cult with a ring that all other members wear.

In the present day, Do-Ki and the taxi crew discuss the ring that they had seen many people at Black Sun wearing. Do-Ki notes that the ring leader in Vietnam was also wearing the same ring. According to Go-Eun, Pil-Seung was seen wearing a ring with a cross and a snake on it, which is similar to the Feel Consulting logo.

The episode shifts to Lee Si-Wan, an employee at the foreign currency office. Upon discovering that three individuals were depositing large sums of money into two overseas businesses with a similar logo, Si-Wan filed a complaint against them. However, on the same evening, while Si-Wan was on his way back home, he was framed for attempting to stab someone in the parking lot and was immediately sent to prison. We are then taken back to the night when the Bishop called Rainbow Taxi. As a client, the Bishop informed Do-Ki that his son, Si-Wan, was in prison for exposing three individuals.

These individuals are Kim Hyung-Sub (leader of the Vietnam Gang), Kang Pil-Seung (CEO of Feel Consulting), and Yang Mi-Kyung (CEO of YN Entertainment), and a named owner of Black Sun. The group concluded that the large sums of money transferred outside of South Korea were connected to Black Sun and Ha-Joon. The group identified three individuals involved in the case: They decided to take on the case to protect Si-Wan, whose life may be in danger. Si-Wan is scheduled to testify against foreign transactions in court in a few days. To support him, Do-Ki, Kyung-Koo, and Jin-Eon get themselves arrested at the same prison where Si-Wan is being held.

Meanwhile, a flashback reveals that before his death, Sung-Chul received a call from Police Chief Hyun-Jo. The late police officer informed Sung-Chul that the Black Sun drug scandal was just the tip of the iceberg of the many fraudulent activities carried out by the cult. Sung-Chul was asked by Hyun-Jo to review an old case in exchange for saving his life. Unfortunately, Ha-Joon had already murdered Hyun-Jo before Sung-Chul could take any action. Sung-Chul visits the morgue where Hyun-Jo's body was kept and finds the same ring on his hand. He obtains the case file that Hyun-Jo mentioned and discovers information about the children's welfare home. The file reveal that the children there were either deceased or reported missing.

Meanwhile, in prison, Do-Ki establishes his dominance by pretending to be a psycho and threatening the other inmates. Upon discovering a bounty on Si-Wan's head, Do-Ki threatens to kill any inmate who tries to harm him. Additionally, he provides Si-Wan with a pepper spray bottle for self-protection. Within a few days of being imprisoned, Do-Ki notices something amiss. Go-Eun is told that everything was normal and that Si-Wan was not in danger, which made everything more suspicious. After a few days, Do-Ki, Kyung-Koo, Jin-Eon and Si-Wan are released to go back home as part of their plan. However, just as they are about to leave, the police chief takes Do-Ki back to prison while the rest are made to go back home.

Sung-Chul visits the children's welfare facility and discovers that the Bishop is the man who pretended to be Si-Wan's father. Inside the facility, he finds photos of missing or deceased children, as well as Ha-Joon with the Bishop. Sung-Chul is then drugged and confined to a room.

Do-Ki faces more complications in prison when he discovers a bounty has been placed on his head. During a visit from Ha-Joon, Do-Ki is threatened with the news that Jin-Eon, Kyung-Koo, and Go-Eun have been kidnapped. Ha-Joon also reveals that Si-Wan was killed and Sung-Chul is being held captive by his men. Do-Ki requests that Ha-Joon release the others as his fight is with Do-Ki alone. Ha-Joon threatened Do-Ki by stating that he was kept in prison for a reason on the day when Si-Wan was to testify in court. He announced that the bounty on Do-Ki's head had been doubled, causing the inmates to become feral in their attempts to kill him. From his secret room, Ha-Joon watched as D-Ki was hunted down by the inmates. Ha-Joon was impressed by how Do-Ki managed to fight off all the inmates. Eventually, Ha-Joon invited Do-Ki into the secret room for a meal and a game.

Sung-Chul wakes up in the welfare home and is invited to have a meal with the Bishop. He mocks the Bishop for posing as a clergyman and assaulting, exploiting, and killing innocent children for personal gain. The Bishop challenges Sung-Chul to predict the winner of a battle between Ha-Joon and Do-Ki, claiming that Ha-Joon is his most trusted follower.

Suddenly, Ha-Joon asks Do-Ki to choose one of his three friends to be killed. Do-Ki threatens to remember what Ha-Joon did to his people. He adds that the victims will always remember the injustice done to their loved ones and will come back to kill Ha-Joon. After delaying Ha-Joon, Do-Ki asserts that he has already won the game they were playing. Ha-Joon switches on the news and sees Si-Wan exiting the courthouse after testifying against the illegal transfer of funds linked to Black Sun.

A flashback takes us to the time when Do-Ki was suspicious while in prison. The group decided to put themselves in danger to help Si-Wan testify against Ha-Joon's cult. Kyung-Koo, Jin-Eon and Go-Eun escaped Ha-Joon's men by using pepper spray. Sung-Chul found the welfare facility. He entered the welfare home voluntarily to throw the Bishop off.

At the prison, Ha-Joon was angered by being outsmarted by Do-Ki again. As the episode comes to an end, he takes the gun from the police chief and points it at Do-Ki, threatening to kill him with his own hands.

Japon yazar Yo Kusakabe’nın “Kami no Te” adlı kitabından uyarlanan Doctor John dizisi ilk Japonlar tarafından 5 bölümlük mini seri olarak çekilmiş. Hastane dizilerini oldum olası severim ama Hospital Playlist izledikten sonra üzerine geçebilecek bir hastane dizisi bulamayacağım için elim bir türlü gitmemiştiti. Hala aynı fikirdeyim, izlediğim en güzel hastane dizisi Hospital Playlist’di. Doctor John’u ise diğer hastane dizilerinden ayıran bir hikaye örgüsü vardı. Zorlanmadan akıcı bir şekilde izledim.

Kang Shi-Young(Lee Se-Young) tıp fakültesinde çok başarılı bir öğrenciyken geçirdiği talihsiz bir kaza sonucu bütün özgüvenini kaybedip doktor olmaya layık olmadığına karar verir. Yaşadığı yerden uzaklaşmak için amcasının müdürlük yaptığı hapishanede sağlık görevlisi olarak çalışmaya başlar. Cha Yo-Han(Ji Sung) ise hapishanedeki mahkumlardan biridir. Hapishaneye girmeden önce bay 10saniye olarak bilinen çok başarılı bir doktordur. Hastalarına 10sn bakarak teşhis koyabildiği için asistanlar ona bu lakabı takmıştır.

Hapishaneye gelen sağlık görevlilerin hatalarını yakaladığı ve düzeltmeye zorladığı için hiçbir sağlık görevlisi uzun süre burada çalışamamaktadır. İlk başta hapishanede geçecekmiş gibi bir hissiyat verse de Cha Yo-Han cezası kısa sürede biter, hastanedeki görevine geri döner. Kang Shi-Young ise özgüvenini geri kazanıp asistan olarak kaldığı yerden devam etmek için hastaneye geri döner. Ve bir kez daha karşılaşmış olurlar.

Hastane dizilerinde sevmediğim o güç savaşları bu dizide yoktu. Buna çok memnun oldum. Doktor Cha Yo-Han ağrı tanı ve tedavi uzmanı olarak bölüm şefidir. Altına biri kıdemli 5 asistan verilir. Kang Shi-Young ve kız kardeşi Kang Mi-Rae(Jung Min-A)’da asistanlar arasındadır. Dizinin çizgisi bu konu etrafında dolaşıyor. Ağrı tanıma ve tedavi konulu hastalar ve ekibin hayatlarında olan olayları konu alıyor.

Dizinin romantizm bacağını Lee Yoo-Joon karakteri ile Hwang Hee üstleniyor. Ana çiftimiz yerine dizinin ikinci çifti Kang Mi-Rae ve Lee Yoo-Joon arasındaki ilişkiyi izlemek oldukça keyifliydi. Bariz bir birliktelik olmamakla beraber, birbirlerini tanıma ve yaklaşmaları güzel bir düzlemdeydi. En önemlisiyse 2.erkek 2.kadın konusuna asla girmemiş olmasıydı. Bütün oyuncular rollerini çok güzel oynadılar. Kimse kötü oyunculuk sergilemedi. Puanının yüksek olmasını bu tarafa bağlıyorum. Özellikle Ji Sung’un oyunculuğu gerçekten başarılıydı. Bütün hisleri bakışları ile verebiliyordu. Keza Kang Shi-Young karakterinin de dizideki duruşunu çok beğendim. Kızınca kızdı, küsünce küstü, sevince sevdi. Hiç kapris gurur yapmadı. Kore dizilerinde karşılık alamamasına rağmen yapışan karakterler var. Bu dizide o da hiç olmadı. Ne kendilerini ne de izleyiciyi süründürmediler.

Birazda kötü karakterlerden bahsedecek olursak; savcı Son Seok-Ki rolündeki Lee Kyu-Hyung ve hemşire Chae Eun-Jung rolündeki Shin Dong-Mi diyebiliriz. Savcı Son Seok-Ki hikaye ilerledikçe taşlar yerine oturuyordu. Son derece işine ve ilkelerine bağlı, yaptığı şeyi hakkıyla yapan bir karakterdi. Yaptığı şeylerin hiçbir tutarsızlığı ya da art diyeti yoktu. İlerleyen bölümlerde bir şekilde onu sevmeye bile başladık. Ama hemşire Chae Eun-Jung o kadar gereksizdi ki… dizideki tek sevemediğim oturmayan karakter olabilir. Ne nefreti bana geçti ne intikam mantığını anladım. Tamamen gerilim yaratmak için yazılmış gibiydi.
