I can't draw digital to save my life, so I made my monster!Poppet oc Kalix, traditional. (I have been diagnosed with Vinnel brainrot, there sadly is no cure. Also I didn’t make this species, its heavily based off of a creature from game I used to play called a Kivarok)  Their main fur color is black, with the shaded in parts being a really really dark purple. Their horns and claws are orange with a yellow gradient at the top/end. Similarly, their diamond patterns are orange, and get more yellow that further they are away from their torso. They have 7 white eyes on each side (on the front view i forgot to add one pair you did not see that, nothing is wrong :'))) ) that they can close individually. Will usually close all but their two main ones to not look 'weird' or have people feel like they're staring at them. Kalix's eyes also don't usually have pupils, but they consciously make pupils so that, along with their exaggerated body language/movement, speech, and gesticulation, their emotions can be read more easily while masking in public. Pupils are orange. The first three diamond patterns on Sir are eyes, one being a light yellow color, and the others becoming white. Their eyes / horns / patterns / claws have a slight glow. Has four arms in total. (maybe one day i'll have the urge to try and draw on ibis paint) Kalix's blood is orange :). They also have a mouth on their main head, but really really don't want to scare people they want to be friends with, and keeps it closed and hidden for the most part. They are 6'0 because I wish I was tall :').

I've been completely obsessed with @eldritch-spouse's universe for the past few days and just had to make this. I love love love her writing and really suggest you check out her blog if you like yanderes and monsters >:D Under the cut is some of my oc's info if anyone is interested :D (it's a lot of rambling lol)

(Named them this purely because the word makes my brain happy) They are a young adult monster, who suffers from loneliness brain damage! With symptoms that are very similar to ADHD. They forget what day of the week it is often, forget words mid conversation, and have a shit short term memory. Often forgets to eat and has a habit of not eating until their tail-head starts to nip/chew (omnomnom) at them. Will constantly loose things, even if they are currently holding said thing in their paw. Brings noise cancelling earbuds around and wears gloves because they are touch averse. Usually has one part of their body moving, leg bopping, playing with their fingers, etc. (heavily projecting here lol, they just like me fr) Are a residual hermaphrodite who flip flops between sex depending on temperature/season (has a slit covered by their fluff) and goes by all pronouns. Demi ace/aro (hahaha slowburn + oblivious to their own feelings, have fun with that Vinnel). Has a hard time understanding sarcasm and understanding their own feelings.

Kalix's tail has been named "Sir" as they thought the word was cool. They usually eat / drink using their head-tail. Sir is Kalix's subconscious/lizard brain, though they don't seem to realize that themself, thinking the tail-head as more of a sibling/pet. (and example for the subconcious/lizard brain thing being, Kalix stubbing their toe, wincing and making a joke, Sir whimpering and getting teary like the crybaby they secretly are) They can consciously control Sir for about 30 minutes before a headache starts cracking open their skull (usually their species would be able to do this all the time, but shhh don't tell the poor child, they'll cry). While talking through Sir, Kalix can mimic many many sounds / voices. It would honestly be easier to list what they can't mimic than what they can. They do have a tell though, as when they speak through Sir, they have a slight whisper echo. Also sadly because of brain injury, they can't cut off Sir's senses from their own. Wagging their tail super fast like a dog when excited / to stim will leave make them super dizzy. Sir also has a taste for human/monster flesh :))) Has some other abilities, like being able to store stuff in their shadow (they do this more often and don't get nauseous from it unless they try to fit a bigger object inside. Kalix usually makes it look like they're pulling stuff out from their chest fluff becuse i thought that would be silly), make shadow apparitions for a limited amount of time, wrap themselves in shadows to hide or stalk their 'prey', and if they really push themself, they can teleport through shadows (within a certain range etc.) at most two times a week. They feel nauseous and get headaches after this, and using their power too often/long or trying to store large objects will make them violently ill. (won't stop the dumbass from overusing their abilities to pull pranks on The Clergymen though) Has little physical strength (for a monster at least), although they can jump pretty high when spooked (hehe get it? halloween pun :> also foreshadowing~) Speaking of Halloween, it's one of Kalix's main hyperfixations. Their hyperfixations include: Halloween, (and by extension) candy making, horror book reading, driving (although ironically if Kalix is a passenger they get extremely car sick), juggling (picks this up after they see Vinnel do it and realize 1. its a fun way to stim and 2. they have four arms. they are terrible at first), baking (which is kinda funny cuz they cannot cook for shit), insect related stuff, (piss poor) sewing, and drawing (they usually like to draw stuff with the combination of gore and plants).

Always has candy corn on them (or it seems that way, it’s just in their shadow. Kalix likes how it looks like they can just summon candy corn out of nowhere).

Also do not let them drive. They will turn it into a car chase. Somehow. (They just like slamming into the cars chasing them and showing off their drifts and sharp turns) They work as a party planner / decorator and will practically beg on their knees to Admin to help decorate for the holidays, especially Halloween. (Admin will have to wrangle them during other holidays to make sure Kalix doesn’t start making them Halloween themed as well...

”Decorate your own apartment Easterween themed, Kalix...” cue Admin’s signature tired eye roll as Kalix gives the smaller human puppy dog eyes) After they learn The Clergy has rent able rooms, they'll definitely start living there. Kalix's room will be completely Halloween themed all year long. They'll also ask Admin if they can help out around the Clergy / help them (Kalix feels bad for Admin and all their responsibilities, but also thinks they're amazing for being so focused and hard working)

Kalix is a complete virgin, having not even touched themself because again, they see Sir as a ‘pet’ or sibling sort of, only that Sir is attached to them. Kalix always chalks up Sir’s similar reactions to them as both them and Sir having grown up together.(if this sentence makes sense? basically they chalk up Sir having similar reactions to how they feel inside to just them growing up being attached to each other) Also them denying full heartedly that they are a crybaby and that they like the taste of human/monster flesh. To be honest, after a few months of being around Kalix, The Clergymen will probably pick up on Sir being more connected to Kalix than the oblivious lizard (idk why but my nickname for them is lizard despite them looking like some lizard/cat/owl/spider mix. it just fits. also all the picures of cute dumb little geckos connect with Kalix in my mind) realizes. Although Kalix sure as hell won’t realize themself, and won’t have any kind of sexual interaction with anyone while under the impression that Sir is a pet. Someone’s gonna have the explain the them eventually or Vinnel might somehow go even more insane.  (is a sadist masochist switch with a gore kink, though it'll take alot for them to admit it (or it would have if not for Kalix's first meeting with Grimbly and realizing they did not want to be a daddy/mommy/partner to the little dude, just a friend) Oh, and before i forget. Kalix unironically eats the most burned, charred, barely edible, can-barely-be-considered-food stuff. Completely unscathed. And they like it. They will eat coal (burning or not) in front of people occasionally to see their confused/grossed out/horrified reactions / to assert dominance. They're Vinnel's poppet for a reason :))))

They lived most of their life alone and when they were gracefully given a year long vacation by their warden, Kalix decided to try and make friends by integrating themself into human society. (Most others where they live avoid them/are afraid of them or occasionally someone will pity them but Kalix really dislikes that and would rather be ignored.) They stumbled upon The Clergy's Eye while stuck in a daydream / thought loop of how they were going to make friends. Going over the persona they had crafted (aka how they were going to mask the anxious, lonely, self conscious, and quiet crybaby they really are) and generally practicing conversations in their head. They were trying to go to the town's most popular bar, but ended up walking into The Clergy's Main floor / bar area (if im not mistaken). Kalix is just about able to handle being around Santi’s / and others pheromones due to years of exposure therapy (not a demon of my sort, will make sense in next post i prommy). (Ima make another post about how they met the TCE staff for the first time because this is hella long, thank you so much for reading if you made it this far. I hope you enjoyed my super self indulgent skrunkly child. I also left some stuff out that I really want to show via my writing later on :D)

i havent finished the show yet (but im spoiled for like. everything already lmao) so i dont know if it exists already but, ive thought of something i dubbed the doki doki fruit. basically would let the user manipulate the adrenaline in their own and other peoples bodies. i just think itd be neat! and you wouldnt have to fight. just set enemies to zero and run

Ooo okay, I have way too many favs to list, but my top five are Luffy, Nami, Ace, Marco, and Zoro (but Rayleigh, Jinbe, Kin’emon, Sabo, Vivi, Robin, Franky, Bentham, Shanks, Whitebeard, Izou, Kuzan, and Buggy are some honourable mentions). My fav antagonists are Crocodile, Katakuri, Enel, Doflamingo and Rob Lucci.

Honestly, when I made a One Piece OC many years ago, I didn’t even think of giving her a Devil Fruit ability because I didn’t want her to drown every time she went near sea water 😭😂 I was 11 when I made her so forgive the kind of OP-ness/stupidity of it, but Kalix (OC version) could ask the sea to aid her, like she couldn’t control it exactly because the point was you had to be respectful enough to ask, but it made her pretty powerful lol.

That sounds super cool though, and the idea of just booking it after draining all your opponents energy is such a mood lol! I would love that Devil Fruit ability (and I can confirm that so far, there’s no fruit exactly like that, although there is a hormone fruit that does have the ability to boost adrenaline levels among other things (but it has pretty nasty side effects), but none that can drain it).

hiya ,  i graduated and moved and summer came a little too quick.  but i think i’m ready to write comfortably without much strain, however there are are a few changes to note : 

i’m archiving this blog & kalix is moving to my oc crime multi , @demottcm​​ .           it’s still under construction but imma focus on the multi more this summer so that I can work on developing some of the other ravens & characters involved in ilias’ story.

this blog , kalixus, will become a free-writing blog.            all that means is that i’ll probably be writing short stories or chapters here.  i really want to write about his past and i think it’d be pretty rad to get them all out here while also archiving all the interactions he’s had over the past year or so. so this blog will most likely have just ... visuals and long ass text posts . like  long  ass text posts.

Kalix's first visit to The Clergy + how I think they'd interact with the staff

(i am so tired. i spent so long trying to finish this holy hell lmao)

All characters except for Kalix belong to the amazing @eldritch-spouse!

Writing this kind of like a fic? But in order of who I think Kalix would meet first, after Vinnel it’s not super linear though.

Gallon would be first to meet Kalix.

As Kalix stumbles into the main floor / bar after the initial nausea of the pheromones fade away (I assume since Santi works here / finds clients here the place has his pheromones around), they’d initially be confused as to why there are monsters here instead of humans, but would get even more excited to make friends, since they wouldn’t have to hide a lot of themself.

Kalix glances around, trying to figure out who to approach, how to approach. They take in a breath, pushing back their anxiety. And as they do, their eyes flicker towards the barman. A yellow slime with an unforgettable red eye, taking orders and mixing drinks with outstanding precision.

Gallon - Taken over with an unbearable amount of platonic attraction, Kalix makes their way over to the yellow monster. They start up a quick conversation, complementing his skills and saying that his ability to multitask so well was amazing. As he chuckles and asks Kalix if they would like to drink. They wave their first pair of hands hurriedly, joking about how they can’t hold alcohol well. Kalix’s voice is cut off as a certain appendage chomps down on their lower arm, letting out a huff for attention. With a laugh and a roll of their eyes, Kalix orders warm honey milk in a large pint glass, pushing their tail-head, Sir, off of them. When their drink comes, they apologize to Gallon for the interruption, and tries to get back into conversation with the barman. Though they notice how his eye occasionally flickers to Sir lapping from the pint glass like a spoiled cat. They pay for the drink, giving a lot more than they should (they don’t know how prices work). When Gallon gives them a confused look, they apologize, and then pay even more. Gets embarrassed after Gallon explains they paid too much and tells him to keep the rest anyway, as a silent apology.

Likes to swap stories with the barman and subtly cause drunk people to start fights with each other. Anytime someone gets poisoned at the bar, Kalix will watch intently as the monster struggles to survive. Will time it, and then tell Gallon how long it took for them to die. Starts bets with people to see how long the poisoned survives. If Gallon wins the bets too often they'll start to get the idea that he's the one poisoning people. Would drink a poisoned drink in front of him to assert dominance and as a treat-.

Fasma - After a bit of conversation with Gallon and learning his name, they see a new monster come near the bar. A short, grey and white monster, a top hat floating above his head. A tired frown seems to have been permanently etched onto his face. Kalix waves hello to the new potential friend, introducing themself as Gallon goes to get the monster a drink. Sir licking their lips? teeth? (honestly not sure what to call it) and looking up to give the ectoplasm a toothy, drooly, grin. And then immediately seeing the poor monster as a chew toy and going in for a chomp. Gets in a few good monches on his head before Kalix takes control of their unruly limb, dying inside once again. Apologizes a lot and pays for the guy’s tab for the night.

Later when they get to know Fasma more, they'll be super interested in his stories from his youth. Will pay for his tab for the night anytime they see him at the bar, both because they like him as a friend, and because they know they're going to eventually give into the urges to chomp down on the dude.

Was about to continue conversation when-

Santi - Santi arrives at the scene! Thank god he caught this poor virgin monster before they were able to get snatched up by anyone else in this debauched place. (I imagine he just sensed a virgin and dashed to find them, just... appearing behind Kalix and being all like that “Hello there” meme)

Have you ever seen videos where a cat sees a cucumber and it’s immediate reaction is to fling itself into the air and run away at light speed?

That’s what happened.

Kalix can handle being around pheromones due to forced exposure therapy, but being directly next to the source is like drowning in an ocean. Before it was a light mist, only getting thicker here and there. But they cannot handle being around the demon as he practically leaks the stuff (He uses his pheromones to help get clients I think, so he’d def be using them to hopefully get Kalix to pay for his services). They have no problem with him personally, being near any monster with pheromones as powerful, or more powerful than him, will make them mad dash to safety.

Sir lets out a gut wrenching screech of pure terror, as Kalix launches themself away from the dude, instinctually wrapping themself in the shadows as they dash away with every drop of power they have. Deep rooted fear escaping from the corners of their mind, stabbing them with bone deep pin pricks of nausea and unwinding memories.

(Though from an outsider’s perspective, it must’ve looked fucking hilarious- Getting spooked so bad you jump into the air and run away)

When they eventually get used to being around Santi (and have a serious conversation with him and asking him please try to not fuck them or use his pheromones specifically on them) they’ll jokingly call and refer to Santi as the “sexpert”. Gets along with him well! Despite being demi ace, can and will make alot of sex jokes while around the demon. Also likes talking about books with him, and will trade recommendations.

(Don’t have a lot of details surrounding Vinnel’s shows, though I tried by reading everything with his tag and also everything surrounding Ivani, sorry if this is ooc)

Vinnel - Gets into the elevator, not knowing where its headed, or anyone surrounding them. Somehow ends up on a floor where Vinnel is doing a show. The shark monster catches Kalix’s eyes first (totally not because they’re biased towards the color purple). Then the screams came. Kalix witnessed the sheer cruelty of the puppet...? Or jester? monster. At first they were in shock as they saw the human on the stage shoved off by another, falling to their gory, watery, death. Limbs, blood, cheers, and screams, filled Kalix’s senses. As well as the intoxicatingly sweet scent of disgustingly blackened souls on stage. They instantly lost the ability to feel bad for the humans at The Clergy, the vicious actions being justified inside their mind. Was completely enamored with how the Jester killed all the humans in such fascinating, pretty ways. Slicing them open, smooth, easy, and sharp. Flesh separating from flesh, the bright red muscles exposed to the light, the human pulsing and bleeding and screaming in unending agony. The smell of ruby blood and the taste of death staining the air with unfiltered madness. Kalix had finally found a place where they wouldn’t have to hide their love of suffering (for those they feel deserve it). Instantly knew they had to be this guy’s friend.

Tracked him down after the show was over and excitedly complimented him in detail about how much of a work of art it was. It took all their willpower to not wag Sir into a coma. Sir then tried to nip at some of the gore being cleaned off the stage, and Kalix decided to cut the meeting short to go scream into their pillow back at home. Walking into the wrong bar (they realize later), the chomping of Fasma (sounds like some movie title lmao), being scared the life out of by Santi, Sir trying to eat the stuff from the stage, the poor lizard is banging their head against a wall in embarrassment.

Will not care if Vinnel is mean to them, and they are super persistent with their friendship. (more like in a ‘will somehow always find a way to compliment you, tries to brighten your day even when you’re telling them to shut up constantly’, aggressive friendship) Kalix isn’t a Fank-e 2.0 or anything, they will get hurt by more blunt mocking, but their platonic attraction is strong enough to still make them want to be friends with Vinnel. Mocking them for their bad memory will make their happy-go-lucky attitude falter for a moment, and Sir will start crying. Also he’s super friend shaped and somewhat Halloween-ish. Will gift Vinnel accessories and always has candy corn stored in their shadow to share if he wants any. (loves the confused looks they get when they just pull a bag full of candy corn out of their chest fluff) Won’t be able to tell if Vinnel is sick unless he tells them, he and basically all of the TGE staff smell sweet to Kalix. Gets noticeably happier and purrs a bit whenever Vinnel gives them the tiniest, barest compliment or thanks. Calls themself a dumbass and sees it as a sign of friendship if Vinnel calls them that as well. Will cry if he gifts them something in return.

(I’m not sure how they’d meet the other’s, but I still want to write some stuff for them as well)

Morrel - The first time they meet the resident Chef, they won’t be able to wrangle down the mischievous urges exploding throughout their mind. Immediately challenges Morrel to a cook off, and the mushroom surprisingly accepted. Probably to put Kalix in their place and humiliate them from ever going into The Clergy, and to hopefully convince others not to fuck with the chef, but hey, Kalix will take it.

When the cooking (if you can even call what Kalix does cooking) is over, Kalix manages to make the most vile looking, charred, ashy, somehow-slightly-molten, goopy, noxious smelling, is-this-even-fucking-edible, crime against cooking. (which is probably a talent all on its own)

Morrel expected the food to be bad compared to his, and to make a big show of critiquing the food in front of everyone. But this... what the actual fuck. And as Morrel yells in horror / anguish about how this can’t even be considered food, how nothing could consume this nightmare of a ‘meal’ (and that’s putting it lightly) without dying of food poisoning-

Kalix cocks their head to the side with a small laugh (their version of a smug grin). The sound of something snapping and breaking, like bones being twisted in a way they shouldn’t, emitting from the monster. Opening their mouth, Kalix's jaw unhinges, eating the abomination in one loud chomp. (they couldn’t help it, they had so show off so bad, this smug little fuck) They comment on how this was “one of the better ones”. There's a picture of Morrel's shocked expression online somewhere for sure.

Kalix is permanently banned from Morrel’s kitchen. They have a love/hate kinda relationship (Where Kalix does nice stuff to get Morrel's approval, and then does something stupid like eating their 'cooking' in front of him or telling him puns). Kalix also refuses to eat anything that isnt burnt (unless its some sort of candy).

Nebul - Stays away from Nebul. They are wildly uncomfortable around him. The fact that he trains humans specifically into pets doesn’t bother Kalix, but knowing that he trains things into being obedient shells of what they were formerly, digs up some very bad memories. Even the way he speaks / sound of his voice, sends chills up Kalix's spine. If you ever want to get the lizard off your ass, Nebul's voice is like Kalix repellent. They don’t interact much, unless Kalix has been egged on to harass the wraith or is buying something from the shop. Loves to coo at Purpur though, and mimic their chirps (you can't convince me Purpur doesn't chirp or make cute happy noises).

Patches - Kalix thinks Patches and Sitches are super cool. First off, Patches has a pumpkin head. And while Kalix is slightly disappointed that his head isn't a traditional orange color. He. Has. A. Fucking. Pumpkin. Head?!?! Another person they are somewhat aggressive with their friendship with. Will drag him outside and force this man to touch grass and relax in the garden. Otherwise, asks if they can see him do experiments. When they find out the dullahan listens to rock music, they get ecstatic. Will send Patches song recommendations every once in a while. Totally helps Stitches steal horses.

Grimbly – First mistake was meeting this guy. They were super friendly to this friend-shaped bat monster (what? He 100% looks Halloween themed, and his eyes looked super cool) giving them little gifts of candy, and drama/horror movie recommendations. But once Grimbly started being more affectionate all of a sudden, Kalix’s mind went “Haha- no.” and told the monster that they were a hardcore masochistic sub (which is half true, they’re a sadist-masochist switch). And the next day everyone working at The Clergy knew. Yippee. They don’t trust Grimbly with super personal information, but the lizard still gets along well with him. These two 100% cross dress together (Kalix gets flustered about it though, new kink unlocked?).

One time when someone opened a door into Grimbly’s face, Kalix instantly piped up with “Careful, don’t crush the twink.” Grimbly gave them a deadpanned stare, and Kalix settled their annoyed mood by making him some pretty bows to wear.

Fank-e – Oh they love this guy. Kalix likes how even on days where they don’t feel as talkative, the robot will just naturally fill the silence. Will make tons of bracelets and accessories for this guy. They think the stickers he makes are really cool as well, and likes putting most of the stickers he gives them on Sir. Will also joke about how they both have some damage to their head, and will show Fank-e their scar to make him feel better. If his face ever glitches out, they’ll comfort him by saying that they sometimes have their memories and muscles 'glitch' out as well. Sometimes it feels nice to know that you aren’t alone. Wears his bracelets often because they are fun to play/stim with and its a reminder of his friendship!

Belo – On their quest to make friends with (mostly) everyone working at TCE they met this guy. He was probably super suspicious of them at first, but Kalix turned out to be one of the few people that went out of their way to interact with Belo. And they wormed their way into his heart by rambling to him about bird and botany facts. They introduce him to bird channels on this universe’s version of youtube, and also social media accounts relating to birds. They see a part of themself in the lonely angel. Is kinda sad that he can’t eat any candy they want to give him, but will make bird related accessories and gift him bird related books to read in his free time. Lord knows this guy needs something to do with his free time.

Syb – Kalix is pretty chill with the mimic. They like to practice mimicking voices with the mimiclings in the garden. As a fellow bone chewer, they gift Sybastian some bones from their favorite brands. (Que them both in the garden making some kind of bone tier list. “No no no... human bones are wayy to brittle to be any good (I actually looked this up), yak femurs from [brand name] are so much better!” Admin is staring at them blankly, they’re used to this by now.)

Ludwig – Meets him at the bar later on. They think his taste in clothing is cool. If they find out this guy plays video games they will babble endlessly about their favorite gorror games/movies.

Admin/Krulu - Admin is their idol. They fangirl over the human so hard. As a monster who struggles to stay focused and organized, witnessing Admin’s ability to manage The Clergy is like a normal human witnessing magic for the first time. Will wax poetic occasionally to the other staff members about how cool they think Admin is. Will beg to help Admin with anything around The Clergy for free. (After they learn The Clergy has rentable rooms and move in to live there) When asked where they get their income from Kalix just mentions they’re on a paid vacation, and they doubt they’d ever be able reach their spending limit. Doesn’t know Krulu is there, though they can feel the heavy aura of death around Admin. Honestly just makes Kalix respect Admin more. Gives gifts to Admin, like with everyone else. Is hellbent on finding out what candy they like. Notice they (or Krulu) like ravens, and start decorating some of the candies like ravens. Probably worries Admin because Kalix radiates both people pleaser and gremlin energy to them. Which is a dangerous combination. I can see Kalix becoming a platonic yandere (as in they'd be fiercely loyal and kill for them) for mostly everyone (possibly a romantic yan for Vinnel? but he'd have to continuously make them jealous once they have an established relationship), and will be really sad when their vacation ends. Will still find ways to visit often, though.

I was tagged by @itsmadea (tysm lovely) to answer these questions. Tagging @pens-swords-stuff, @write-and-fight, and @zeesqueere (plus anyone else who wants to answer these questions).

1. How long have you been writing?

Oh god since forever. Like I found this old book (pile of papers stapled together) I made when I was five(ish) about a princess looking for a dragon I think. It had illustrations and everything. But I think I really started being serious about it when I was 10? Like I have this old notebook with nearly 20 parts. It's all about these trio of sisters chasing after a magic orb or something-it's been forever since I looked at it. But yeah. Most of my life really.

2. What are the major themes of your current wip(s)?

That's a good question, it really is. Um, there's some of me trying to break stereotypes but I guess that's not really a theme. I suppose that the biggest them is family. That family shapes you, can make you better or worse, that family is more than blood and DNA because you can choose it. 

3. What do you want people to take away from your story once they’ve read it?

Just to enjoy it really. Syzygy wasn’t written to be some big intellectual piece. It was written because I wanted a bunch of disaster bis with magic going on a space trip. 

4. Would you be excited if people write fanfiction about your wip(s)?

Absolutely! It would be so cool to know someone was that invested in something I created. I might literally cry.

5. What’s your go-to writing beverage?

Strawberry smoothie when it’s warm and hot chocolate in the cold weather.

6. Who is your favourite oc? Tell me about them!

Just one? Oh this is hard because I adore all of my OCs. But I’m going to go with Kalix because he’s one of the first OCs that I really fleshed out and got attached to. I originally wrote about him in a completely different story (featuring evil royalty, Vala as his badass sister, magic, and talking griffons) but he eventually ended up as one of the protagonists of Syzygy.

In a nutshell, he’s a guy who does everything wrong because he’s trying to heal his sister but (like you might expect) he’s much more complex than that. He’s insecure af due to constantly feeling overshadowed by his younger sister Vala whom he both adores and is envious of. He’s ridiculously protective of her because she’s the only family member left alive (they’re both essentially immortal), hence the entire premise of Syzygy. At the same time, he’s selfish because he’s going on this quest to heal Vala and to prove that he’s better than her. He’s just this mess of conflicting motivations and ideals and I love him to pieces.

7. Do you feel that mistakes are important learning tools in the writing journey?

100%. Mistakes mean you can grow, and I personally believe that all writers should grow in some aspect as they continue to write.

8. Rank your ocs by their capability in a footchase (either running after or from smth, your choice)

The fastest would be Hymera, hands down. She doesn’t train relentlessly like Yarus and Amaranthina, but since she’s a werewolf, she has enhanced speed that gives her an edge. Second fastest would be Metos or Betia, because they grew up in a place where it was important to run away from people bigger and stronger than you. On the other hand, Yarus and Amaranthina would have the most stamina because they train relentlessly. They’re endurance runners, so they’d win the 10K but Metos/Betia would win the 100 yard dash. Reyja is better in water than on land, but she can run when she needs to. She’s just a bit faster than Kalix, who hates running with passion.

9. Does your wip have romance? tell me about it!! if not tell me about a friendship/important relationship in your wip!!

It does actually. One of the subplots is Betia and Metos eventually dating. I love these soft boyfriends so so much. They are the mutual pining/best friends to lovers tropes personified and I adore them. And they’re so supportive of each other??? Like Betia went out and made a little kit of mini car parts for Metos to build/fiddle with and will verbally tear into anyone who tries to make a joke about it. Metos has a list of stupid jokes to tell every time Betia gets nervous and he’s constantly adding new ones. 

They have this entire shorthand consisting of eye rolls, head tilts, raised eyebrows, and half sentences that no one else completely understands and a plethora of inside jokes that go as far back as when they were both 14. But like, they don’t even get together until like the last half of the story and it drives me nuts because these two are hardcore pining for each other. Like everyone sees it but them. So the first half it’s just them being pining best friends while their other friends just shake their heads. alkdj;kfakdj I just really love these two excuse the rambles.

10. Do you believe in the advice kill your darlings?

I personally don’t. I don’t think it’s bad advice, I just don’t think it’s fitting for every type of story. 

11. Do you prefer plotting or worldbuilding? Why?

Worldbuilding, no contest. Fantasy is my favorite genre to write (and read) because of the possibilities. You can create worlds where the impossible happens and it’s totally normal. You can create entire universes where dragons and selkies and wyverns exist. You can create cities where it’s totally normal to live in underwater cities and planets are made of diamonds. You can create anything and I love that.

Usually I’m not so good at the angst, but I was pretty proud of that snippet, so I’m really glad that it inspired you to make a whole other MC! Very excited to learn more about her because I just know she’s going to be so well thought out (been reading your Lana/Ethan commentary and woah I love your depth and seeing how much care and detail you put into your OC’s). Kalix with an MC like that is going to be a interesting play through, but I’m super hopeful that the payoff will be worth any angst (although it will still be minor angst in comparison to some people looking at you Alli)!

Guess who finally has a Gay Projection Tiefling!

Kalix is a hellspawn tiefling, descended from the lawful evil devils. She’s heavily inclined to the law part, but she’s a Lawful Good cleric of Iomedae.

A lot of her shit with being lawful good and her religion is tied up in my anxieties about being bad/having to put in constant effort to not immidiately slip into evil and having to follow all these rules to be perfect/not being perfect being irredeemable
