Still thinking about that bit in episode 58 where FRIDA says “I really don’t want to leave you” and FCG says “I don’t know if I could.”
Like holy shit these robots. For real what is gonna happen when BH reunites and they have to split up…

RISE TWITTER QNA! no major news or announcements, but here's a list of new information and confirmations:
S3 could be brought back as a retro show in the future, but it probably wouldn't happen anytime soon (focus is on mutant mayhem at the moment)
it was never decided whether capril would be friends or girlfriends (due to rise's focus on platonic relationships)
council of heads! they're in power, but a lot of influential yokai (like big mama) aren't easily controlled, and "game the system"
despite not having his dual katana, supposedly f!leo DOES still have mystic powers
ron corcillo would love to see a spin-off focused on the caseys (if rise were ever continued), and likes the potential of a raph + casey vigilante duo
the turtles got their names after splinter's love for renaissance art
big mama's henchman WAS planned to be the missing sister, and rather than venus de milo, she would've been named after a female artist (possibly frida kahlo)
for halloween: raph dressed up as a kitten, mikey as a lion, leo as a rockstar, and donnie as j. robert oppenheimer
the mystic weapons stolen from draxum acted as a conduit to help the boys unlock their innate mystic powers with a "little boost"
they didn't realise mayhem's potential as a character/force until too late, but it could've been fun to do some stories of him being an operative (a la perry the platypus)
there weren't any planned stories for side villains (aside from the foot's cupcake shop), most focus was on the turtles
not much on casey jr's backstory, just that cass and the turtles were fighting the krang and leo raised him as a warrior. casey jr only has brief memories of cass from when he was very young, and was mostly raised by leo
there were definitely six baby turtles (two sisters)! and the turtles were gonna split up to rescue the one with big mama and the one in "the dimension", but they never planned much of it out
there's most likely a time gap between the rescuing leo and the ending scene of the movie, as "after a fight like that, [everyone] would definitely crash and need some recovery time"
there would've been more big mama in future episodes, and stinkbomb was planned to return
since the turtles became known to the public at the end of the movie, they'd have to fight to retain their reputation. this and their reception to criticism/backlash would've become a major arc.
on brother rankings: mikey is definitely raph's favourite, and they all look up to raph
the stronger someone's ninpo is, the greater the drain on their energy is (as seen with f!mikey and karai)
there wouldn't be much threat on villains going after casey jr's future intel, because most of it would've been rendered obsolete
nickelodeon would never give up the rights to rise, but they could license it to a partner company (such as IDW for a comic!)
as previously mentioned, the 2nd sister would've been trapped in "another dimension" and venus/frida would have to be won over by "helping her see that she had been brainwashed [by big mama] as a child" (and redeemed)
given more time, the show would've fleshed out: the hamato story, the hidden city's origins (krang spaceship that crashed into the crying titan being the source of the ooze, its fuel being what gave the yokai mystic powers), and would've used the rat king (who ron corcillo would've liked to be a powerful yokai with rat-like abilities and some form of mind control, who could've threatened the council of heads for power in the hidden city)
as far as we know, the turtles (aside from leo's spanish) only speak english (and even their english is sometimes a bit off)
rise probably wouldn't have ever "gone dark", but after the turtles were publicly known and full-time heroes, it might've had more of an extended plotline
the turtle's casual clothes somewhat reflect their music tastes (r&b for raph, glam rock for leo, techno (and 80s) for donnie and boy band for mikey)
future heights: mikey grew a bit and then shrunk under mystic strain, leo was at least 6ft, donnie a little taller than leo, and raph at least 6'6
mikey's powers could get pretty intense, which could've resulted in some multiverse episodes (ron corcillo would be most inclined to do a 12 crossover, but any could work). while leo portals short distances, mikey's cross space and time (with great effort)
given more time, how the turtles met april would've been fleshed out
in terms of how they take after splinter: donnie and leo have a lot of his cockiness, raph his courage and sense of duty, and mikey senses him missing his family (which is part of the reason of why he tries to hold everyone together)
given more time they would've done more with the transfer of leadership from raph to leo (and originally the plan was to draw that out over S3, rather than the abrupt S2 ending). they would've been co-leaders for a while, and at times mikey or donnie would lead (they aren't really a group with just one leader archetype)
there were plans for april to have more time with the specific turtles other than donnie (like how the gumbus was focused on her mikey and leo)
the cast's mystic abilities would've increased over time, and splinter has a lot of power that hasn't been revealed (as he spent a lot of time in the hidden city in his past)
venus/frida would've been very disciplined and so serious that's she's funny, and the dimension sister would've been "a little kooky"
there weren't really any plans on how the turtles would look in cloaked human forms, just that they'd resemble lou jitsu and may be inspired by their VAs
mikey is the only brother who can fully pull all his limbs and head into his shell (being a box turtle)
any usagi appearances would be a rights matter, and depend on collaboration
on timelines: april is 16 at the start of the series and 18 in the movie, but exactly how much time passes isn't confirmed
ron corcillo would've liked to do more donnie + raph episodes, like one where despite how donnie considers himself smarter, raph ends up beating him in common sense and emotional intelligence
f!leo didn't go with casey jr to the past due to being mortally wounded in his bleeding side
given more time there would've been more flashback episodes with the turtles at various ages
though he'd never admit it, hueso has a close relationship with leo
in early S3 there would've been an episode of setting up the new lair
mystic warrior f!mikey is pretty old (maybe in his 70s), and is strong enough to use basically any mystic power, but at great cost to him physically
no major plans with bishop, but once the turtles became more well-known he could be a bit of a thorn in their sides (like j. jonah jameson to spiderman)
there might've been some redemption from big mama, but also some relapses into her "villainous ways"
given a full season, karai would've been alive for longer, and would've trained the boys for a number of episodes
confirmation that some of early s1 aired in the wrong order (which the writers weren't happy about)
in rise, there's always an unpredictability as to how sentient a mutant will turn out to be
raph probably wouldn't be super uptight about swearing, provided the boys weren't offending anyone
there weren't any plans for romantic relationships (and DEFINITELY never an april-turtles love interest), but if they had ever tried something eventually it would've been with the same species
there were no specific plans for alopex, rita, or rennet, but anything's a possibility
in terms of the 1000 years ago krang/mystic timeline, the spaceship crashed first (possibly spawning the yokai), and other krang followed it, drawing in the invasion
that seems to be about it but if there's any more i'll do a reblog with additions

Finally I'm able share some good news
Wild festivals, exquisite fruit-bowls and unusually realistic renderings of motherhood and female friendship – not to mention a glimpse of Lady Hamilton as an enthusiastic follower of Bacchus – will go on show in Madrid on Tuesday as one of the country’s most famous galleries seeks to spike the patriarchal canon of art history with a new, and avowedly feminist, exhibition.
The show at the Thyssen-Bornemisza – called simply Maestras (Women Masters) – uses almost 100 paintings, lithographs and sculptures to show how female artists from the late 16th to the early 20th centuries won recognition in their own lifetimes, only to find their works forgotten, erased or consigned to dusty storerooms.
Organised into eight chronological sections that reflect artistic and social changes, Maestras also explores how female artists, gallerists and patrons worked together to create and celebrate art while living and working in the grip and gaze of sexist, and often misogynistic, societies.

Seventeenth-century works by Artemisia Gentileschi, Fede Galizia and Elisabetta Sirani give way to still lifes of fruit and flowers before the exhibition moves to portraits – including Élisabeth Louise Vigeé Le Brun’s Lady Hamilton as a Bacchante – and then to Orientalism, depictions of working women, images of maternity, sisterhood and, finally, to images of female emancipation.
Among the show’s early exhibits is one of Gentileschi’s anguished studies of Susanna and the Elders, while the later pieces include Mary Cassatt’s bleary-eyed Breakfast in Bed and Maruja Mallo’s playful Fair pictures.
“This exhibition speaks positively of that other half of art history,” said the exhibition’s curator, the art historian and critic Rocío de la Villa.
“For a long time, the feminist history of art has been beset by all the handicaps and obstacles that had been put in the path of female creators. For example, they couldn’t access the same artistic training that their male colleagues could. They generally lived in an extremely patriarchal system that denied them their rights and in which their signatures had no legal value.”
There were, however, “certain moments and certain places” in which conditions were more favourable to female artists, and the show aims to offer “a series of windows through which we can see a mutual understanding and a camaraderie between artists, gallery owners and patrons”.
It also reminds visitors that some talented women caught the eye of European royal courts, and that some had husbands who helped them in the studio – or even looked after their children – because they knew that their wives’ gifts far exceeded their own.

Guillermo Solana, the artistic director of the Thyssen-Bornemisza, said Maestras was another example of the museum’s continuing commitment to feminism, education and addressing the prejudices of the past.
“I’d promised myself that I wouldn’t do any mansplaining today but I can’t help it when it comes to explaining what I’ve learned from the process of doing this exhibition, because I’ve learned a lot,” he told journalists on Monday morning.
“The first thing I learned from this exhibition – and which I think the public will also learn – was so many new names; so many fantastic artists I’d had no idea about and had never heard of. Of course, we knew about Artemisia Gentileschi and Frida Kahlo or Paula Modersohn-Becker, but how many important artists have got away – or been taken from us?”

De la Villa agreed. “The public is going to ask, ‘How can it be that we didn’t know about these female artists?’” she said.
“How is it that their works were in storerooms until recently? Maestras is a feminist exhibition that seeks to emphatically correct the prejudices that have come about as a result of the patriarchy – prejudices that have meant that works by female artists have remained in museum storerooms during the 20th century.”
She said the male-dominated artistic system had always sought to defend itself by denigrating female artists. Equally damaging, she added, was how historians had played down the achievements of women until their voices were silenced and their creations overlooked and then hidden from view.
“When women are hidden, or robbed of their past, they are robbed of their identity,” said De la Villa. “The power of culture is very important. It just can’t be separated from the social conditions we enjoy, or which we suffer.”
Maestras is at the Thyssen-Bornemisza museum from 31 October to 4 February 2024

Pia pls, something with "sweater weather" 🥹💛
frida, it's 32°c outside and as far from sweater weather as it could be, but this was very fun to write, thank you 💘
send me a soft prompt
[read on ao3]
Winter in LA isn’t cold by any means, and having grown up in El Paso, Eddie should be used to lower temperatures – but he’s been living in LA for six years now, and clearly he’s become used to LA temperatures instead.
So when he wakes up on a cold December morning and the other side of the bed is cold, he grumbles unhappily as he gets out from under the cozy blanket, and looks for a sweater to put on over his sleepshirt.
He finds one of Buck’s thrown haphazardly over the back of the chair Eddie has in his bedroom, and pulls it over his head. It’s soft and smells like Buck, and Eddie breathes in deep once before going on the search for the man himself.
He finds him in the kitchen, leaning against the counter holding a cup of coffee and reading a book. His back is halfway turned, so Eddie gets a good look at the bold letters spelling out DIAZ on the back of the sweater he’s wearing. His stomach does a somersault and he pads into the kitchen, causing Buck to look up from his book.
“Hey,” he smiles, putting down the coffee and lifting his arm so Eddie can tuck himself under it in search of Buck’s warmth.
Once he’s wrapped around Buck completely, his cold nose pressed to Buck’s neck, he mumbles, “Morning.”
Buck presses a kiss to the side of his head. “You okay?”
“I missed you,” Eddie says, and doesn’t even feel ridiculous for it. “The bed was cold without you.”
“Sorry,” Buck says. “Do you want coffee?”
“In a minute.”
Buck lets his book close without putting a bookmark in it and wraps his second arm around Eddie too. He’s barely taller than Eddie, but sometimes Eddie really likes being tucked against his side like this, kept safe from the world. Especially when the world is cold and gray, like today.
“Love you,” he says eventually, lifting his head.
Buck smiles and meets him for a short kiss. “I love you, too. Coffee now?”
“Yeah,” Eddie nods, reluctantly taking a step back. “Thanks.”
Buck presses the button on the coffeemaker he’s programmed to make Eddie’s coffee (perfectly, unfortunately, which is why Eddie hasn’t thrown it out yet), and turns back to look at him again, a slow smile spreading across his face.
“You look good in my clothes,” he says, and Eddie shimmies his shoulders a little to make him laugh. It’s true he’s wearing a pair of Buck’s sweatpants too, which he forgot when he grabbed the sweater, but it’s not like they don’t share clothes all the time.
They sit at the kitchen table with their coffees, feet tangled under it, and start planning their day.
Breakfast in a bit, once Christopher is up, then laundry, grocery shopping and maybe some Christmas shopping, evening plans to be determined once they know if Christopher’s got any or if he’ll be spending it at home with them.
Buck gets up to look in the fridge and start writing their grocery list, and Eddie watches him, the same somersault feeling in his stomach as earlier.
“You look good in my clothes too,” he says, and Buck looks at him over his shoulder from where he’s half sticking his head inside the fridge. “You look good in my everything.”
Buck’s smile goes a little confused. “I– thank you?”
Eddie shakes his head with a laugh. “I just mean– you look good in all of my things. My clothes, my kitchen, my bed, my house. My life.”
Buck closes the fridge door and turns around to face him fully, eyes soft. “Eddie–”
“I love you,” Eddie barrels on, “and I want you here with me all the time. You should move in with us.”
“Yes,” Buck breathes, and he’s crossed the kitchen within a second, cupping Eddie’s face between his hands and sliding onto his lap. “Yes.”
Eddie has half a mind to worry about the chair – or maybe a quarter, because the biggest part of his brain is focused on Buck in his lap.
“Yeah?” he asks, hands running up Buck’s thighs on either side of him to settle at his hips.
“Of course,” Buck says, and he’s smiling so wide his eyes are almost disappearing. “I hate leaving here.”
“And I hate when you leave, and I know Christopher does too.”
Not that Buck leaves much, these days. Honestly, this is more of a formality at this point, but Eddie really does hate whenever Buck goes to the loft instead of coming home with him, so he can’t wait to be rid of the thing.
“We can throw out your bed and move mine here instead,” Buck suggests, and Eddie glowers at him playfully.
“What’s wrong with my bed?”
“Come on now, you know mine is more comfortable. And bigger.”
Eddie, who spent a lot of time in Buck’s bed especially in the early days of their relationship, when Buck still felt awkward knowing Christopher slept just down the hall, does know that.
“Okay,” he agrees. “I guess we can keep your bed.”
“Make it our bed,” Buck says, and Eddie wants to make fun of him for being a sap, but he’s pretty sure his face is showing exactly how much he likes it.
“Sap,” he says anyway, and Buck’s hands that have migrated to Eddie’s shoulders, move back up to his face.
“You love it,” he grins. “And you’re just as much of a sap, Mr “You look good in my life”.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Eddie says happily. “You’re moving in with me anyway.”
“I am,” Buck crows. “You’re never getting rid of me now.”
“Good,” Eddie says, and tilts his head up.
Buck gets the hint and bends down to kiss him, softly at first and then deeper when Eddie opens his mouth and pulls him closer by the hips. He runs a hand up Buck’s back and feels the letters on his sweater under his fingertips.
He never wants to get rid of Buck, no. He’s gonna marry this man.
