You make great art!

Your opinions on Vi’s alternate designs?

I could stare at her all day. Perfection.

Design wise? Her final one is (chef's kiss) SUCH a good balance of showing and contrasting Violet’s personality.

And the alternates show why!

She’s a nerd. Shorthand for that is usually glasses, as seen in almost all her alternative designs. (Think Velma from Scooby Doo.) Not a bad trope.

But at the same time, does her character need a visual short hand for smartness?

Just the way Violet SPEAKS tells you she’s a nerd. She uses big words, and calls people by their full names. When we first meet her it’s in a LIBRARY and her and Webby instantly start switching between various ancient languages.

We don’t need glasses to know she smart and a nerd.

So unless the show is willing to commit to some moments or gags where Violet loses her glasses / takes them off specifically not to see something / cleans them regularly as a character tick (think Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Conservation of Character Design says get rid of them.

Which the show creators did.

(also her introduction scene includes Quackfaster, and I appreciate that, instead of them both wearing glasses- a thing that isn't actually about smartness literally it's just wanting to be able to see- the thing Violet shares with the Terrifying Librarian is... hair tie / hair band, including the color thereof.)

(It's a more personal choice. And it's message is "Practical")

Next is clothing style. Most of her alternates have a more fancy, ‘outfit’ kinda look to them. Like this is something she put together to get a specific Look. Nothing wrong with that. Nerds can be fashionable (Ellie Woods queen thereof).

But… there isn’t anything in Violet’s personality, story, or situation that connects to that idea.

Her things are Books, Learning, Forbidden Magics, Honorable Conduct in Contests and Duels, Adopting Stray Shadow Teens Off The Street As Her New Sister, Brining Pie To A Sleepover, Smacking Invading Moon People With A Spiked Mace, and Using Tibetan Breathing Techniques To Survive Eating Three Bowls Of Deadly Hot Spices In A Row.

The closest she gets to caring about her appearance is when her and Webby (and then her and Lena) put on gruesome costume make up and prosthetics for fun.

So a snazzy outfit, while cool, doesn’t really… jive with the vibe of Violet Sabrewing.

Nerd clothes, like a vest, isn’t needed the same reason glasses aren’t. Also the details would be a pain to draw over and over again. Even Webby’s clothes don’t have that much little bits in them.

High collars again look cool… but Lena’s already got that covered. Stand them next to each other, and where’s the contrast?

Violet wouldn’t “pop” next to Lena if they had that on top of Violet’s dark color scheme and Lena’s dark sweater.

Wearing the same thing (to show characters are connected to each other) works best when either the color or the style DOES contrast sharply

(Huey Louie Dewy and May June wearing basically the same thing as their siblings, but in very different colors)

(side note I’ll make a separate thing for someday: Lena and Webby with button down collar shirts worn under something, but with different style, effect, and colors)

The leggings are seen on two of Violets alternates and I think that got picked for Meta Simplicity and also In-Character Practicality.

They’re athletic, the kind of thing that isn’t at risk of snagging on stuff (befitting an eventual Senior Junior Woodchuck), and the dark color balances out with her hair. And they’re VERY easy to draw. Very good!

Sweater.

Sweater with turtle neck (unless it’s one of those very loose ones) usually gets used as shorthand for “Comfort over Appearance” (Velma again, contrasting Daphne)

And in this case it’s a contrast with Lena who LOOKS like she doesn’t care at first glance but actually has put maybe the most effort into her outfit (sweater stolen from favorite band, dyed her hair, wears bright colored converse in a world where most people go bare foot)

and Webby, who is wearing basically a uniform (picked by her Granny or by herself while daydreaming of experiencing Normal School Things???)

So to balance out Lena’s rebel teen punk look, and Webby’s prim and proper look, Violet has a comfort and practicality look.

BUT!

They kept the eyeshadow.

A VERY GOOD MOVE.

See, eyeshadow on someone who wears an ‘outfit’ (Lena, Daisy) says fashion minded and image conscious.

(this includes Beakly the former spy taking up the role of grandmother).

Eyeshadow on someone who wears a non-snazzy turtle neck and legging with her hair tied away from her face in a simple ponytail says something else completely-

It says, Violet likes eyeshadow, and that is the ONLY reason she wears it.

Either she doesn’t notice that it’s unusual to do this, or she doesn’t care.

THAT is showing her personality.

If it’s that she doesn’t know it’s unusual, then that fits with her in the Woodchuck Challenge not knowing about smack talk until Lena teaches her, and in Friendship Hates Magic brining a pie to a sleepover, and in The Split Sword of Swanstantine wondering in the middle of a fight if she should change in to more occasion appropriate clothes instead of, you know, running.

Smart yes, savvy to social norms? Not so much.

If it’s that she doesn’t care, then that fits with her direct and blunt way of getting what she wants out of situations, never mind others' objections-

-Instantly running to Webby’s loft so she can see the picture of the demon lord and confirm the crookedness of his fang, repeatedly pressing for using the runes to try contacting the shadow realm despite Webby’s nervous boggle deflections, happily employing smack talk so she can learn it properly without stopping to ask what it’s effect on her competitor might be..

So the clothes of her final design all work really, REALLY well telling new parts of Violet’s personality, without just repeating what we’d instantly know from listening to her talk for half a minute.

Hair.

One of her alternates has loose floofy hair, which I imagine is what canon her would look like without the hair tie, and it rocks.

But the hair tie is kinda important.

Violet isn’t a book nerd who never leaves the library- She’s active, she gets in the thick of things, she’s happy to jump in a fight, and she’s a Junior Woodchuck. Practicality, again, makes more sense. Keeping her hair out of her face works with her character.

Her little flop of bangs is really fun to me too because… well…. It reminds me of Lena.

Again, it’s different enough to pop while the two stand together, but it’s there. Lena has flopped bang thing. Violet has a curly bang thing. They are sisters. It’s cute!

Also helps her silhouette stand out more against Webby and Lena, who’s hair is pretty smooth and down in general. Gives her this sharp thing that moves around and makes her extra easy to pick out, even when you just see part of her head. Important for a main side-character.

If you're going to add detail, add it to the silhouette -> very big visual payoff.

Colors! COLORS!!!!

Already mentioned the pants balancing her hair nicely, dark on top, dark below, but then there’s her eyeshadow and sweater!

They ALSO tie her with Lena!!!!

Lena’s shirt, hidden under her sweater, is pale blue- the same color her friendship magic is later- it’s the color of Lena being happy and being connected to people.

And Violet’s eyeshadow, is also blue? And Lena’s eyeshadow is purple! Like Violet!

Eyeshadow! That thing both her and Lena wear, them the Sabrewing Sisters, but Webby doesn’t!

That’s so cool! That’s a way to show a connection between them AND their personal tastes, before they even become family! And once they ARE family it helps them visually LOOK like one!

Also, Violet’s green sweater?

Again we’ve got the color contrast compliment thing (huey red dewy blue louie green) this time with Team Magic: Webby pink, Lena blue, Violet green. It helps them feel… individual in scenes they’re all in frame together, while also making them look good next to each other.

The choice of all of team magic’s colors to be either more pastel or duller than the Primary Colors Trio also lets all six of them work together visually, like in Nightmare on Killmoter Hill.

But again, LENA.

Lena has two other bright colors tucked into her design, aside from her pale blue.

The pink in her hair (visual cue to Webby) and her lime green shoes. Green. GREEN. It’s enough of an important color for it to ALSO be in her friendship bracelet.

And it’s the main color Violet, her adopted little sister, wears.

Oh my heart….

Finally, it’s looks like they tested out ideas of Violet being some kind of, parrot maybe, or wren, or such.

I love her being a humming bird for one very queer reason.

Female violet sabrewing humming birds are actually green, not purple.

And Violet.

Is purple.

Just like her dads.

(also name puns for the win yeeeeessss)

So on the whole, looking at the designs Violet could have had, I guess I’d say they’d make nice occasional outfits for her...

but if you’re going to make her an important supporting member of the cast and if you have to draw her over and over again, almost always with the same other two characters… and if those characters are Webby and Lena...

Then they picked exactly the right design to go with <3

I have finally decided what to do with Eleanor!

DuckTales '17 OC! (might design a version of her for either '87 DT or Quack Pack idk)

Elenor Crackshell Cabrera is Fenton's 16 year old younger sister!

facts about Ellie:

she's VERY interested in cryptozoology (the study of cryptids) and mythical creatures

very outgoing (although not as much as Webby is)

keeps the secret of Fenton's life as Gizmoduck even though she doesn't have to (when she found out she was very excited)

her and Fenton have several nicknames for each other

loves hanging out with the triplets, Webby and Lena (I'd add Violet too but I haven't gotten a chance to watch her episodes yet so idk what she's like personality-wise)

similar to Dewey she wants to find out what happened to her and Fenton's dad

has misophonia (like me! I think I have it? idk lol)

enjoyer of vintage and older music (especially the possible calisota/duckberg-verse equivalent of The Beatles)

dislikes Mark as much as Scrooge and Glomgold do

kinda sassy but mostly only around The Mcduck residents, Fenton & Gyro

"I'm so happy that we found each other."

If you haven’t read WizardoftheRainbow’s weblena fic, What You'll Find In The Night, please do. This wonderful story resonated with my soul on many very personal levels, not the least of which was the astronomical aspect of it, which spurred me on to draw this post-fic picture as a tribute, which turned out to be one of my most favorite things I’ve ever drawn. Really wanted to capture the splendor and happiness of the night sky, as the stellar jewel box the fic mentions, and of the love between these two love birds.

Anyway, the fic is fantastic, it’s cozy, it’s perfect. 💜✨

P.S. If you want to also listen to a perfect weblena (and also dellumbra) song, I recommend “Satellite” by Lena (yes, that’s really the artist’s name!). I listened to it soooo many times while drawing this!

One reason I love The Owl House, LGBT+ representation of course. And this has obviously been said over and over before with everyone telling their own reason and story, so here's mine.

I didn't know what homosexualilty was until I was 16 years old and in theater. I saw a poster that said pride club and I had a lot of questions. I asked the master of our house and they said that homosexualilals were people of the devil so I shrugged and listened. Said what they wanted me to say. Long story short, theater class was full of homosexuals and they weren't as bad as my house hold described them to be. Heck, they were the most accepting people I ever met. Once I started warming up to the LGBT+ community, I made a transgender OC in a story I was writing. Still remeber writing a fan fic for FNAF and I made a trans girl as an important part of the story. My little brother asked about my story and I happily introduced my trans girl to him. Why was she trans, the story was about identity and knowing who you are. She was gonna be this confident girl who knew exactly what she wanted and who she was. Her purpose in the story was gonna be to help others find out who they are. I was so excited to write my story and my brother shared that excitement. To the point where he told all about my trans charater to a family member in our strictly Christian house hold. He was only five at the time. I had a massive talking, long bible lesson and punishment for it. So I threw away my story and my very first trans charater. Not to mention I was told to reject all homosexuals at my school including my theater class. I wasn't allowed to watch shows like Steven Univers or The Owl House either.

A few years later, graduation came and I still have connections with some theater kids and haven't cut any connections with my gay friends even after being asked to. Though, I'm still nervous about my very first bisexual charater and my first asexual/demi romantic charater. There's many reason's my Ducktakes story "Don't Back Down Again" has been on hiatus, but this reason is my #1 reason.

Some already know I manage to leave that house hold recently but that doesn't mean I'm not effected by what I was taught. I'm just nervous about continuing my story because I'm getting into the territory where I explore my first bisexual charater. Along with my first asexual/demi romantic charater. Maybe it's the memory of throwing away my first trans charater and the punishment that it came with. It's still there and it's keeping me from continuing from writing.

Heck, I remember always seeing Lena as a lesbian and wanting to write her as one. But I never did out of fear. Same for Violet being trans.

Though, I've been feeling more and more comfortable with writing LGBT+ characters now. The Owl House has grabbed my attention from how accurate it portrays religious abuse and manipulation through religion. It just tells our story beautifully and I couldn't help but want to write a fan fic for it. Writing down my outline and charaters, I'm starting to get use to making LGBT+ charaters. I'm excited to introduce my first lesbian couple and first gay OC. And maybe I'll be able to add a trans character as a call back to my very first LGBT+ OC.

What I'm saying is, The Owl House is a giant inspiration for me in writing. Not just telling the story of religious abuss and those who are trying to break from it, but making others feel more comfortable with them selves. I was never open about being in the asexual and aromantic spectrum until I started watching The Owl House. Lilith is incredibly important to me. Aroace lady who broke from away from her manipilator and trying to fix her wrongs, that's incredibly relatable and inspiring. These are the charaters I inspire to write and that's why The Owl House is so important to me.

Webby Week Day 5: Headcanons/AU!

This isn't really a writing piece, more of a... idk what to call it but it certainly is a Thing

Some headcanons

• Autistic and ADHD (see: her Whole Entire Vibe)

• Read ALL of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories when she was like seven or eight

• She doesn't have a set favourite colour, she loves all of them! But if she HAD to pick, it would be light pink (see: 🎀)

• Big Lesbian Energy (realises the "special best friend feeling" she gets around Lena is NOT because Lena's magical, it's cause Webby is GAY AF) (Lena also has a huge crush on Webby though so yeyyyy)

• Wrote and illustrated a book called "The Life And Times of Scrooge McDuck!" (Yes this is so L&T can exist in DuckTales, if your name is Don Rosa I'm so sorry)

• Wore a suit (shirt, waistcoat, bowtie, cute pleated skirt) to her autism diagnosis

• Still plays the cello but also wants to learn the bagpipes (and Scrooge teaches her)

Webby's role in my Evil!Scrooge AU

So her role in this AU is WILDLY different to her role in the show.

As I think I mentioned, Beakley left McDuck Manor when she saw how slightly unhinged (even moreso than usual) Scrooge was becoming, and took baby Webby with her cause she didn't want her being raised there.

She spends the next eleven years training her (no change there)

The change is that she's being trained to overthrow Scrooge and his near-tyrannical reign.

And YES that does mean that the moment she finds out she's his clone daughter is going to HURT her so much and I'm dreading writing it it's gonna be one of the last things I write probably

Can you draw Huey and Gosalyn from the DuckTales reboot under Mistletoe? And if not, can the Quack Pack version please? Because I love it when the two of them are together. XD

Why not both?

I did both what you asked and what I like, so we're on the same page. XD Anyway, I'm not a fan of child couples, so I drew them more like teenagers to look like that and they're all wearing winter jackets, since it's snowing outside.

The first drawing is Huey and Gosalyn from Ducktales 2017, while above the mistletoe are Louie Duck, Lena De Spell (Lena Sabrewing), Webby Vanderquack and Dewey Duck. Drawn in a classic style, in my own way and that Huey and Louie wear backwards hats. And I agree that there should have been a focus between Huey and Gosalyn as their dynamic is quite interesting.

The second drawing is definitely Huey and Gosalyn from the Quack Pack (more Quack Pack AU, my version) in winter clothes, with mistletoe above them, held by Huey's brothers Dewey and Louie, and with them is Webby Vanderquack (my version of Webby as would look like in Quack Pack). Yes, when I watched Disney Afternoon as a little boy, and the OG Ducktales, Darkwing Duck, and the Quack Pack, I always imagined Gosalyn being partnered with one of Donald's nephews. It would be Huey the most, since he usually likes girls his own age, so Gosalyn would be a blow to him. XD Although Gosalyn would have preferred with Dewey and Louie, her dynamic with Huey would definitely be hilarious, and they would really work as a loving couple as adults. XD Overall, I drew this in my own style.

I hope you like my gifts for Christmas and New Year. :D And there's no need to fight about which version is better, each version is good for itself and everyone has the right to their own opinion.

So, you know those AUs/theories where Bradford manipulates Della until the spear incident? That but with Webby. Like Bradford listens to them Mcduck rants and takes notes, gives her new info on Mcduck and lets them put a friendship bracelet on him (though he hides it under his sleeve.)

A little bit after Donald and HDL move in, he introduces her to F.O.W.L. He explains that he genuinely cares about Scrooge but his adventures hurt people and the town. He shows examples of people getting injured, businesses being closed and general destruction caused by adventure. He also says that he sees her as a daughter and always worries when she goes on such dangerous adventures, which sticks with her.

she continues adventuring but tries to be safer for Bradford. She also visits F.O.W.L more, getting to know some Eggheads, Steelbeak and Heron. By the time Lena tries to get them to lead her to the other bin, Webby refuses. She also starts to get in more spats with Dewey from her trying to be safer.

Despite the squabbling, Webby and Dewey always make up in the end. She still feels apart of the Duck family, they just also see some F.O.W.L members as family too. Until “The Last Crash of The Sunchaser.”..

In between the few months between the last crash and the shadow war, Webby vents to Bradford about Scrooge saying she wasn’t family. Bradford says they will always be family to him and the rest of F.O.W.L. Webby tears up. Then Bradford mentions that Webby always had her mother and stops mid sentence. When Webby demands he elaborates, Bradford looks very grim and says something along the lines of “I can’t believe Beakly never told you…”.

Webby is even more confused. Then Bradford says he knows where they’re mother is and she’d be able to explain much better then him. Then he holds her hand and leads her into the lighthouse.

Bagge, I didn't know you too were a fan of the Ducks! But I should've know 'cause you have excellent taste and loves Goldie.

Also, because all things go back to Glitra, I am know thinking of Glimmer and Catra as rival treasure hunters which is a thought that comes 10% from how fun that dynamic would be and 90% out of wanting to see Glimmer in a explorers outfit with the leather jacket and hat.

OMG! Glimmer would look amazing in that outfit. And if you put Catra in Goldie's role you just know we will get some salon dancing... (not to mention - my best Glitra works always have them isolated somewhere. How about a winter snowed in together in Yukon?)

I love the Ducks. One of my best fandom moment ever was meeting Don Rosa at a con. His work has been formative for my understanding of how to make a) epic stories and b) funny stories (his background jokes are pieces of art).

The latest ducktales reboot also blew me away with their creed of making every character badass in their own way and giving them their moment to shine. Not to mention how much I love Webby and Lena.

Anyways here’s some stuff i would do if disney came up to me and said hey write ducktales season 4 -

- Webby has a major identity crisis because of the clone thing, that’s her main plot this season. She’s trying to figure out who she is whilst the entire world is continuously comparing her to Scrooge.

- BIG emphasis on family vs biology.

- If in writing this s4 i can’t make any changes to the previous seasons then i don’t think i can get rid of the dad thing bc like, it’d be weird if they made a big deal abt her calling scrooge dad and then nerfed it next season, like as a viewer i’d find that weird, so we’re keeping that. With the extension of her, at some point, starting to call Beakley mum

- Maybe our big “twist” this season is that webby isn’t related to scrooge, but she still calls him dad in the end

- Huey is ALSO having an identity crisis! We’re playing with the fact that his arch didnt get revolved last season. He’s always been the smart one out of his brothers, but now Louie is shaping up to be a successful business person and Dewey is gonna be a pilot, and Huey has no idea what he’s doing with his life.

- May and june are with donald and daisy on their like cruise thing the whole season, and appear once per episode via a zoom call on an ipad. Donald and daisy appear sometimes too. Their whole running bit is that they’re convinced they’re now leading a normal life but it becomes increasingly obvious they’re just as weird as donald (affectionate). The four of them appear in person in the season finale

- We will not be introducing any new characters for no reason I swear to god. The only new character i’m even CONSIDERING introducing is Morgana and that’s it. This season will have a much heavier focus on our actual main characters. Aside from maybe morgana the only “new” characters would be mentioned, like an adult talking about their parents or showing a picture

- Beakley officially retires this season (not immediately, a couple episodes in, we get an ep about it)

- She also feels very guilty about all the lying so in an effort to stop doing that she has now flipped to the opposite end of the spectrum - brutal honesty. She speaks her mind 100% of the time and she rarley has nice things to say. You are never more than 5 minutes away from beakley roasting the shit out of you because that was just on her mind

- For simplicity’s sake she never had any kids before webby, that was a complete lie and the “Mrs” thing was an alias. I don’t want to spend time introducing three new characters, i wanna focus on our existing ones.

- For the first episode or two she is intentionalyl side lined, and then we get an ep more focused on her which shows she not only feels incredibly guilty abt the events of last season, but she also feels liek she doesn’t have a place in the family and is just there bc she’s the housekeeper. This episode would end with her finally officially retiring and staying in the manor, showing that she’s there because she’s family, not because she’s staff.

- Once retired we also get an episode that just shows beakley going stir crazy bc she’s bad at being retired lol

- An episode about sccrooge and beakley bonding! Scrooge sees webby and her friends together, or maybe they ask him who his best friend is and he’s like ah me and beakley! But then realises they haven't been as close in the past few years and whisks her off on a good ol mcduck and 22 adventure

- Hdlw sibling content. We are getting a reference to them seeing eachother as siblings like it or not. Maybe it happens bc webby goes “Hey, technically i’m your cousin” and the boys go “uh, no. you’re our sister, end of”

- W e b l e n a. Not clickbait. We resolve lena’s outburst at may and june from last adventure, we see her and violet talking and violets like “you dont see webby as your sister. You’’re very gay for her”

- LP being smart. We get some of that. We see his emotional maturity.

- Louie and dewey kinda take a backseat this season. They get some episodes and they’re, yk, there for a lot of them as supporting characters but their main archs are mainly resolved, so they mainly get some mini stuff this season

- Our big bad this season is probably negaduck bc like i said im not introducing a new villain

- I do think it’d be kinda cool to have a fucked up heron who clawed her way out of non existance and is in this fucked up glitched half alive state, who’s only purpose and thoughts are to destroy mcduck and 22

- Also at least one flashback episode, maybe a mothers day special that has the kids bonding with della and beakley in the present, and keeps having flashbacks to della and bealey having an adenture in the past

- Webbys starts calling della Aunt Della, the boys start calling Beakley Aunt B (usually i like the idea of them calling her granny like webby but if she’s calling beakley mom then that doesn’t make sense. Also it’d play into the “you have a very strange family dynamic thing” since they’re siblings but also theyve got two seperate moms)

- The boys get a bonding ep with scrooge to show he still values them even though webby is his “”real kid””

- Ep abt the boys missing donald on his trip :( maybe this is the first time we see donald on the facetime call

- I like the idea of sometimes there just being. Other people in the facetime calls. Like the kids are trying to talk to may and june and the three caballeros are int he background. Storkules is serenading donald and daisy. “Oh yeah those are our other parents. Donald and daisy have quite the polycule going on. You should see aunt min- *connection failed*”

- I wanna do smthn with the darkwing trio that can resolve with gos calling drake dad (maybe in the finale he gets injured and shes like NO DAD)

- Maybe an ep where webby finds out gos and dewey are close and she’s like wait. But WE are best freinds and hes like bruh youve got lena why cant i vibe with gosalyn. And webby tries really hard to have beef with gos but she just can’t do it she’s too nice and they end up being a trio

- An episode where fergus and downy visit the manor. And it turns out they’ve met beakley before bc scrooge used to bring her over sometimes and they’ve long since gone “yup thats our daughter. Wdym you just has the sibling talk recently bro we’ve known this for years we have 3 daughters moving on”

- Maybe matilda comes too and she and beakley have a sister bonding ep (bc beakley and scrooge will prolly have already had a few this season)

- I’d wanna have the kids bonding with fergus and downy for the main plot bc honestly we’ve not seen much of that lmao. Also donald talks to them on his zoom call bc yeah idk

- DELLA TALKS ABT HER TRUAMA. FROM BEING ON THE FUCKING MOON.

"Now I've had the time of my life No, I never felt like this before Yes, I swear it's the truth And I owe it all to you"

This is a very, very special drawing for me. ✨

In September of last year, I watched Dancing With The Stars' "Step Into the Movies" special again, at the end of which they recreate "The Time of My Life" scene from Dirty Dancing. And that sent me on a nostalgia trip back to my high school theater days over a decade ago now, where the drama club accepted my idea to do a "Time of Our Lives" theme, and a performance for that song à la Glee. Mind you, I was mainly the stage manager/techie sort, but I did some scenes for the showcases, and participated in this song with my then-boyfriend, along with two other couples.

And while we were hanging out in the green room backstage, a friend took some pictures of us. Including the one that directly inspired this drawing of Webby + Lena.

This started out as a memory remix of that photo, after watching the DWTS special, because I thought these two lovebirds would be really cute subjects for it.

But once I got going, it turned into a love letter, for many things.

As part of the remix aspect of it, I now picture myself in Lena's spot in the photo, getting to have the short hair I wish I had had back then, and getting to wear a suit and tie! (Yes, in the original photo, I am wearing the dress and red bow Webby's sporting here, and I have long hair. 🙈 Though I will say here that the little heart necklace she's wearing is exactly like the one I had, too! :)) Drawing this was really cathartic for my nonbinary self. 💜

And as for Webby, in this remix, she represents someone that, in retrospect, I wish I had shared this moment with from back then. In many ways, she really was the Webby to my Lena. 💜💖💝

(Literally) beyond the subjects of this though, this is indeed very much a love letter to a lot of things, to passions. The background is pretty much a replica of the drama classroom wall we were in front of for the photo, at least as far as layout goes, with a few direct recreations of things that were on the wall and on the table there. Everything else was me being a passionate (theatre) nerd.

(Details (many details) of said nerdiness and alternate versions below the cut!)

I've included un-blurred and background-only versions (and a version with drop shadow lines on the girls, because why not? it's a cool effect!) below, but I just want to point out the details, because I'm so dang proud of this.

The posters/programs for The Phantom Blot of the Opera, Featherspray, Chickago, and My Fair Dewey are obvious duck-parody references to their real-world counterparts (with the latter being the exact poster they use in DuckTales, in Dewey's dream in "Nightmare on Killmotor Hill!" So thanks, Dewey! 😂). The Featherspray one was also included because Hairspray was one of the shows we did in high school! And lemme just say, creating theater posters is really fun!!

The MJ the Musical poster and the half-shown Notre Dame de Paris "Duckbill" right behind Lena's head are particularly special to me, since they (along with Phantom) are my favorite musicals, and getting to draw those two was especially fun!

The L'Orange Theater poster in the top-right is a bunch of duck easter eggs in one - the L'Orange Theater is mentioned and seen in the very first episode of DuckTales 1987, and of course, there's Aquarioon from DT17! Looks like it toured in Duckburg a long time ago. 😉

And the sheet music is the DuckTales theme! (Or at least the left side of it :P)

The "Congrats" card, calendar (the whale for upper half was my own touch), folder, page of random backstage stuff behind Lena's head (which includes little Star Trek and Darkwing Duck references), and golden "Theatre" card (with my old director's favorite quote) are directly from the photo (or at least based on what I could see through its blurriness 😝), as is the very edge of a cast photo in the upper-right. The purple note (totally not with any secret messages whaaaaat) below that, the certificate of excellence, and the little pride heart pins everywhere are little garnishes/dedications. 😊

The stage/theater diagram below the certificate is really cool, because that's a direct recreation (+ another hidden message) of a project a friend and I did for stagecraft back in our freshman year - I was even able to copy my own handwriting for the labels! 😄😂

The "Time of Our Lives" poster is a reference to the showcase I mentioned above that inspired all this, though the real-life poster looked very different, from what I remember.

The green bag below is sorta a nod to the secret pal exchanges we used to do during shows. 😉

And finally:

The Glittering Goldie show poster is me just having an absolute blast drawing her once again and coming up with something for her Blackjack days! And bonus - I'll be posting a gradient-only version of Goldie tomorrow! Really happy with how she turned out!

And the "All the World's a Stage" poster is me combining all of my theatre nerdiness with my passion for space and a good pun! 😁

ANYWAY...

I learned a lot with this drawing, about creating and about myself.

And I just had so, so much fun with it - it was all love, all passion, all happiness for this one. 💜💖💝

Sean:

Sean is actually from Mexico and can speak Spanish fluently. He still keeps up with some Mexican traditions sometimes.

Sean is A junior Woodchuck Like Huey. That's how he met Huey.

Sean is in love with Huey. (My head canon for Huey is that he's Bi)

Sean Loves reading and writing. He wants to be a writer in the future. Sean also loves science, like Oliver

Sean is a huge nerd.

He is also a Darkwing Duck fan

Sean actually gets adopted by Drake and Launchpad and becomes the adopted brother of Gosalyn

Sean's birth parents disowned him for being gay🙄

Benji is a HUGE theatre kid and a funny kid. He wants to be on Broadway and also wants to be a comedian when he gets older.

Benji is In love with Dewey. ( My headcanon for Dewey is that he's Pan)

(this is going to be traumatic TW abuse of 3 kinds) Benji's mom and her boyfriend physically, mentally, and sexually abused him.

Benji's mom also killed his dad and older siblings, and his mom threatened that if he called the police he would be killed too.

Benji has Major depression and hides it very well, and he goes to therapy.

Benji takes anti depressive pills.

Benji is basically the funny friend who doesn't talk about his feelings and mental state bc he doesn't want to seem selfish.

Benji also has a eating disorder but gets better after a while of knowing Dewey.

Benji's mom and her boyfriend are in jail for all the things they did.

Oliver went missing for a few years after a plane crash with his dad. Presumed dead kinda like Della was.

Oliver's dad betrayed him by joining F.O.W.L and basically told Oliver that he never wanted him in the first place.

Oliver can Speak Italian, Greek, and Ukrainian fluently (And English ofc).

Oliver has MAJOR anxiety.

Oliver has ADHD.

Oliver is in love with Louie. (Head canon for Louie is that he's Gay.)

Oliver goes to therapy too.

I had an AU that he landed on the land of the Dream Smp and basically got adopted by Tommy. Oliver got even more traumatized over there (poor guy😭).
