I'll start this off by saying that I'm a woman who's studied ballet for pretty much her entire life. When I was a child, I had teachers who wanted to train me professionally with the goal of training at Canada's National Ballet School in mind, so I think I know what I'm talking about.

I recently learned about the Sophie Rebecca controversy, and it's absolutely disgusting. The transphobes who are screeching and clutching their pearls over Sophie taking syllabus classes with the RAD are absolutely ridiculous. They're the only ones who are embarrassing themselves by speaking on something they know nothing about (from what I've read, they can't even spell "pointe" properly).

I'll clear a few things up regarding ballet that transphobes are consistently getting wrong.

Ballet is not a single-sex space, so stop clutching your pearls. It may be XX female-dominated, but danseurs have been integral to the discipline since its creation. Believe it or not, danseurs can and do teach female students (and vice versa). Members of the male sex have even danced female roles (Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, for example, is an all-male drag troupe that performs parodies of romantic and classical ballets).

Sophie is taking RAD syllabus classes. These are simply classes that build skill in ballet (as well as other forms of dance, such as character). While syllabus classes and exams are part of professional training, most syllabus students are recreational dancers. Sophie is too old to pursue a conventional career as a danseuse, and many dancers retire at her age. The amount of schools that would accept her into a professional program that feeds into a major company are close to, if not zero. Nobody "lost a spot" to her. As long as they can pay the fees, anybody can take RAD syllabus classes and exams. They give you a sense of achievement and track measurable progress. The RAD has defended Sophie Rebecca and stated publicly that she is NOT a professional danseuse. As far as I'm aware, her highest level of completion is Intermediate Foundation. If I remember correctly, Intermediate Foundation exams don't even include pointework (since ballet is, you know, far more than pointework). No serious company is going to hire a student who's only reached Intermediate-level classes, and very, very, very few will a hire a danseuse who's not proficient in pointework. All she's doing is showing a love for adult recreational ballet. That's it. She's not taking anything away from XX girls. Ballet is open to EVERYONE, not just pale, skinny XX women.

For everyone who will see this, specifically writers and readers, there is a thin line between what's okay to write and not okay to write. And for every writer who's into the oddest, deepest most untouched kinks, this is for you. This is for you for every writer who doesn't correctly label their trigger warnings or even at all. (English is not my first language! Please, grammar nerds, correct me^_^) Let's start with age gaps. Age gaps are fine AS LONG as they're not minors. Your grandparents might have a ridiculous 10-year age gap but nobody will give a flying fuck because as you get older, you've had more experience being an adult (albeit I do NOT find 25 dating a 35-year old fine). But when it comes down to a student AND A TEACHER I will ALWAYS have something to say. There is nothing anyone can say or do that will ever justify classifying a student-teacher (romantically) relationship morally right. First of all, what the fuck, it's illegal. Don't ever normalize romantic student-teacher relationships, thank you. Non-con/Somnophilia! Self-explanatory, but some retards think it's sooo awesome and romantic and "heavenly." No, it's not, it's really not. If you find this attractive, please isolate yourself into the darkest crevices of your house and never leave. The entire obsession thing with somnophilia revolves around the idea of taking advantage of someone's defenselessness. In every. Single. Scenario. Unless your partner consents to your advancements, you will not continue. Always, always, ALWAYS ask consent from the other party to make sure that what you're doing doesn't make them uncomfortable. "It's just fictional, it's okay!" It's all sunshine and rainbows until it happens to you, something that happens to millions of women around the world, then suddenly, it's not okay anymore because finally, you know what it feels like to be on the receiving end. Step-parents x step-children or step-sibling x step-sibling. First of all, I shouldn't even have to be explaining what the fuck is wrong with this. This should be EXACTLY the same as how people view incest, but everyone's FIRST argument is always "but they're not biologically related!" Nobody gives a fuck because when you're sitting in court, trying to justify every reason that it's okay, everybody else will only think, "Hey, aren't they [parent] and [child]?"/"Hey, aren't they siblings?" Nobody cares that you're not related biologically or not, because you are family. I will always stress about this because that's your family, your parental figure, the person who's probably 20 times your age and is way more mature than you'll ever be. I probably could've worded this better but my head is totally blank and atp I'm just ranting everything that's wrong with this world. There's a shitload more that I can probably name once I'm feeling better.

The cat, lovingly going by the name of Vodnik, belongs to my friend, as far as I understand (given his backstory is partly kept secret from me) he is a retired pirate, now fisher, whose a bit grumpy toward the world and wizards (Because they are elitist?). Additionally big ol' communist, tho the pirate part may have already suggested that.

Adding this lovely height chart done by @rema-rin to show the characters, with her wizard being the lanky blue nerd to the right.

The fox, named Mishka, is my lil thief, accursed fey of sorts who eats shiny things, because she has some form of pocket dimension in her gullet. The DM very charitably granted me this infinite vault, knowing that my character would never let go of a single object that goes into it, so at this point they could have a dragons treasure in there and still refuse to spare a single copper coin. If its shiny, it goes down the hatch.

The two met up in the wilderness, because she wanted to eat the scales off of the fish that Vodnik caught. Because Mishka is so short, she was originally mistaken as a lost child, but no, she is just an adult discount fey in her late 20s that will crawl on all fours and chew on toxic metals with no second thought behind it, because her brain is made for consumption, not for the laws of nature. Vodnik remains as grumpy as ever, but has seemingly grown somewhat empathetic toward Mishka, supporting her little "fill the void with tiny shiny things" without quite knowing the full extent of it. He's been a big Mishka apologist. She would eat the stars if nobody stopped her, she got huge klepto itches for anything reflective enough to catch her attention.

hm. finishing up my like third replay of the twc trilogy and. some rambling disjointed theories about future plot points/revelations:

i feel like someone has to have already said this but the supernatural rogue leader with the detective's eyes is obviously rook's Not Dead After All sister, right? like we can all agree on that one

i think it's going to turn out that rebecca is so cagey about how rook died because she is responsible for it--not, like, directly, but in a way that makes it very easy to blame herself. she assigned him the mission he died on, he wanted to leave the agency and she convinced him to stay, that sort of thing.

I think all the villains that we see will end up showing up again (either as allies or enemies), but im specifically imagining that murphy will reappear as a minor antagonist--either naturally if he escaped, or as a result of a prison break of caged supernaturals

another probably obvious one but each love interest route seems to be building up to a major subplot for each of them:

A's is seems already deep in progress and will mainly revolve around them getting over themself, and will probably resolve with them getting with the detective. slow burn extraordinaire (most nebulous one for me since this is the only route i haven't played yet; this just comes from fandom osmosis so it might be off base)

M's is going to be their lost past but more focused on whatever is going to happen when that crystal of theirs ends up failing/getting lost/breaking (going off of that, we know mishka's got a particular point in mind for M to realize they are in love with the detective. i am 100% convinced at this point that it's going to be a dramatic moment when their crystal isn't working, they're losing it, and the detective brings them back to reality--that's going to be M's oh moment). interpersonal relationship conflict is mainly going to resolve around the natural conflict that arises from the pining while fucking trope that's been established

N's is THEIR past but more focused on their mystery powers (there's a post floating around that makes a great argument that's it's mind control and i'm inclined to believe that) and coming to terms with their "darker side"/learning to open up to the detective. i definitely feel n's route is going to get darker/more angsty before resolving

and we already know that most to all of F's romance route hardships are going to be external--the relationship itself is rock solid. right now it seems to me that it's going to be the conflict with the demons (literal ones this time) from their past coming back to them. also ten bucks says their mom is alive

AND MY BIG ONE: It's going to be revealed eventually that the detective and the LI are soulbonds. I feel like there's so much present in all the books that implies the relationship is not just one of attraction--there is a supernatural element of comfort, healing, and empathetic bond shit going on. the amount of information you get about soulbonds from f if you do research in b3 also just seems like setup for this reveal as well since it's explicitly stated that soulbonds are really rare but not limited to one supernatural species

I think this revelation will probably occur pretty late--at the very least after the LT route is resolved, because the soulbond will be with the LI that the detective ends up choosing. i also think this could also contribute to mishka's firm stance on not allowing the LT to have a poly option

Mishka refuses to go away lol

I realize I'm basically just emptying my brain on here at this point, sharing my thought process about Mishka and Nikolai, but anyway... If you're not into my ramblings, feel free to scroll past. I've put it under a cut for your convenience.

So, I think I've finally figured this out...

When Mishka comes to Japan to visit Nikolai, it's December (around Nikolai's birthday, which is the 18th). He's able to go there because he's currently on the short-term injured list and has gotten permission to travel during the few weeks he's not actively playing. Of course that means he can only stay in Japan for a short time... but what an amazing short time it turns out to be.

It's also around this time that Nikolai and Ginger are thinking that maybe they're meant to be together and decide to see how that goes. Mishka returns to Canada, with Nikolai making no promises about their future, but he's a hopeless romantic and an eternal optimist, so he hasn't given up.

This is Mishka's final season as a professional hockey player, and by spring, he's ready to retire and hang up his skates. He needs knee surgery that he's put off for far too long, and it's scheduled for late spring/early summer (think end of May/beginning of June).

By spring, Nikolai and Ginger have concluded that they're probably not meant to be a couple after all. They love each other deeply, and their connection goes beyond a typical friendship, but they're convinced they'll never get past being best friends. Nikolai realizes he thinks of Ginger in a similar way to how he thinks of Natascha, his sister. He would move heaven and earth for Ginger, but he doesn't want to be her boyfriend.

He realizes he loves Ginger, but he's in love with Mishka.

He and Ginger have a long, serious talk about it, and he discovers that she feels the same way about him. Originally, she thought there might be something more, but like him, she doesn't want to change the nature of their friendship. She doesn't have any siblings, but she says if she did, she'd want a brother just like Nikolai. Neither of them feels hurt or disappointed by their decision, because there's nothing stopping them from continuing their friendship. They can still be together as much as they want, with no relationship obligations tying them down.

They decide to keep their "breakup" a secret from Anya, so they don't tell anyone except the people closest to them.

And then Nikolai receives a message from Mishka, telling him about his surgery. Mishka's going to have to be off his feet for a while, but the problem is that he has no family in Canada and no friends close enough that he feels comfortable asking for help. Luckily, it's the off-season for figure skating as well, so Nikolai is free to go home.

Nikolai, who's still homesick after seven or eight months in Japan, is desperate for any excuse to go home. Eden isn't so keen on the idea, but he can't imagine causing a scene over it because that would just make Nikolai feel worse. As a favour to Nikolai, Ginger offers to let Eden train with her while he's gone, if Eden doesn't want to go home as well.

In the end, Eden decides to go home too, to be with his parents and sister. He's not happy about leaving Charlie and Haru, but it's not as if he isn't coming back. (Mishka pays for Nikolai's airfare, and Eden's parents pay for his).

Nikolai has no idea what Mishka is going to need, and he's never really had to take care of anyone to such a full extent before, but he's determined to do his best, whatever is needed. Nikolai and Mishka decide that Mishka should stay at Nikolai's house because Mishka lives in a walk-up flat above a shop. At Nikolai's place, the guest room is downstairs, and there's also a complete bathroom on the ground floor, so it'll be much easier for him to manage.

Mishka is dramatic about being in pain, so the first several days are difficult. Fortunately, there are lots of people they can call on for help, including Beth-Anne and Natascha, and Nikolai's grandfather who absolutely adores Mishka and spends hours just sitting with him and reading to him while Nikolai trains with Eden, runs errands and gets stuff done around the house.

Once things settle down, they find that they're able to focus on reconnecting.

Mishka doesn't want Nikolai to return to Japan, and deep down, Nikolai doesn't really want to either. Unfortunately, Nikolai doesn't feel like he can make that decision on his own. He promises Mishka that he'll come back as soon as he can.

I've actually been thinking about how Mishka might be a study in contrasts to some degree. I think he fits that old meme 'looks like he could kill you, but is actually a cinnamon roll'.

Physically, he's a big person; not just tall (193cm) but also really broad and muscular. He looks intimidating, and is the sort of person who other people generally give extra room to pass on a sidewalk. But, the thing is, Mishka is actually very quiet and gentle and he's shy to the point of being timid. He may be assertive on the ice, but in everyday situations he's easily intimidated and not always confident.

Based on physical appearance alone, one might assume that Mishka would be the protector, but it was actually Nikolai who more often protected him. Mishka is the one who panics when he gets lost or hears unexpected loud noises, and the one who wants to rescue all the stray animals and who cries at sad movies. He loves to cuddle, and finds it regrettable that he never gets to be the little spoon.

He likes to claim that Nikolai "rescued" him, and thinks they were destined by fate to be together.

Okay, rather than use this to specifically ramble about a character, I'm gonna instead ramble out some thoughts on my Wayhaven Love Interest Swap bc that brainworm has settled in GOOD and I need to let some of these this out before I explode. xD (this Swap being AJ/Adam, Mallory/Nate, Janinie/Mason, and Kasey/Felix. Yes, I realize there's three pens and four characters. I'll be much heavier on one or two of these that are really driving me insane)

🖊 AJ/Adam first bc AJ is always first, and it's the one I've thought about most(thus most likely to happen).

She's very easy-going and willing to work with Bravo, open to suggestion, and basically takes an "I know the town better, you all clearly know the case better, let's pool that knowledge" attitude rather than trying to be In Charge. Adam appreciates that, while it also irritates him and he cannot figure out why. (Spoilers, it's bc he likes her and her working so closely with them puts her in danger and he doesn't want her to get hurt. I think Nate would put those pieces together before Adam does, tho :3) Mishka's mentioned that A's route is them Love-at-First-Sighting the Detective, but I see it being something they both try to downplay for most of book 1(AJ's trying to be professional, Adam's trying to Make It Go Away bc he's trying to protect her from the dangers of the supernatural world, including him). It would be probably when she stops by his room after her arrival at the Agency facility following the vampire reveal that AJ starts to maybe acknowledge/lean into the attraction a bit more. Adam's still fighting it, but it's so hard to do.

He wants to protect her, from everything, but being around her is a different kind of dangerous for both of them(Nate is watching his best friend's struggle with equal amounts of sympathy and amusement). Then it turns out her blood is Special™ and she's in this world whether she likes it or not(she does) and Adam just doubles down on wanting to protect her. I think failing to keep her safe from Murphy would hit harder than it did with Mallory, which is so deliciously angsty. There's this amazing, palpable tension between them in the hospital after she's rescued; not sexual, but definitely something romantic brewing there. (I'm dying at both the patrol scene with him giving her his coat and the first time he makes one of the comments alluding to being viewed as a monster and she just looks him dead in the eye "You're not a monster, Adam" said with such genuine gentleness and conviction it makes him stop breathing for a second)

(Sidenote: her loving to read and him being such a protective grump makes them together give major Beauty and the Beast vibes and I am HERE FOR IT)

Book 2 is where things get really fun bc AJ would actually be more bold about flirting with Adam than she is with Nate in canon. This is because Nate is very suave/charming/open about being attracted to her, which makes her appreciative but shy. I wanna say she was somewhere between 70-80% shy on the romance meter by the end of book 2 with him(and it would be about the same if I put her with Felix or Mason bc they're also both very open about being attracted to you, it's just the tone/nature that changes). With Adam, while she wouldn't be flinging herself at him or anything, she would be a little more obvious with showing signs of her attraction. She'd figure his reticence was due to not being sure she felt the same(he's a vampire, could be from an era/culture with standards about "protecting a lady's honor") and want to clear that up. So it would be little things like touching his arm or holding his gaze. Stuff that's obvious without being forward.

I mentioned in the original post that the main things attracting them to each other is her genuineness(there is no guile in this girl) and how much he cares about his team(she'd notice that real quick). He worries her sweetness/trusting nature is going to get her hurt and she's terrified his protective streak is going to get him hurt again. Enter Trapper Fight and the "Tu omnia" which she would need Nate to translate for her bc she doesn't know Latin. She would definitely go supernatural research on his route and I would go feRAL over the library scene. And while she's willing to give him time and be patient, I feel like moving in to book 3, when it's really hard to deny this mutual attraction, she would start gently pushing for him to either commit or explain why he can't bc this back and forth isn't fair to either of them.

ALRIGHT THAT GOT LONG, sorry about that.

🖊 Mallory/Nate isn't super fleshed out as a concept, I just really like the idea of them together bc she will call him on his bullshit when he tries to deflect about discussing his past and he's easygoing to work with her wanting to be in charge while having the patience to deal with how long it takes her to open up. Suave enough to navigate her prickly topics, too, and the mental image of the fourteen inch height difference is also hilarious. She would want to Protect so badly with him, even if he is a foot and change taller than her. xD Bc he cares about people and he's so good and gentle and the world needs more people like that. Even if they're actually centuries-old vampires.

🖊 Janine/Mason is also not very fleshed out, just Sunshine/Grump pairings are my JAM. While there would still be flirting, it's far less sarcastic/challenge-mode than Kasey's flirting with him. Janine just likes him and is so genuinely sweet and charming, the "Sweetheart" nickname starts almost mocking and the shift to it being a more genuine thing is so subtle Mason doesn't even really notice he's doing it.(Nate and Felix sure do👀👀👀) Janine would want to hold off on sex until it means something, further confusing him about why he's so drawn to her and why he likes her so much, when she doesn't even want to "have fun". The bakery scene in book 3 would be BRUTAL, she would leave in tears, Mason's internal monologue would be something along the lines fuckfuckfuCK SHIT FUCK. >:3

🖊Kasey/Felix is the other one I've put some decent thought into. It starts out just as fun. It's casual flirting, at least on her end, sweet how much he cares, and he's kind of adorable, but Felix is definitely to more invested of the two of them until the Carnival Date. His unmitigated joy sends her just plunging head over heels, like she stepped into the deep end of a pool with no warning and she doesn't even look back. ("Look how happy you are, that's so much sexier than any pout" Girl's a GONER) She loves taking advantage of being slightly taller to wrap her arm around his shoulders, he's jokingly asked for piggyback rides bc he thinks it'd be funny. She would hesitate even more than Janine did about saving him vs Sanja in the Trapper fight. I think she would still save Sanja, but fullblown panic attack about seeing him so hurt, like we're talking walks like a zombie, Nate or Mason has to drag her by the arm to get her where they need her to go, absolutely stays when Felix asks and wraps around him like a very protective big spoon.

Hey, sorry for bothering you but I was hoping you could tell me if I'm overreacting or not. It's about the book 3 demo of TWC and a line in there that feels transphobic. It's on the Douglas path and only shows up if you play as a gay woman and have a love interest, where Farah will make a comment about the li having completion to which Morgan will respond that it's not a competition if "he isn't carrying the right equipment". I'm trans myself and have shown it to another trans friend of mine who agreed it was transphobic. I just haven't seen anyone talk about it, maybe it's just because many people don't play as a gay woman or go down the Douglas but it's definitely making me doubt if it is or not. Sorry that this is rambly, but I'd just like another opinion.

I always play as a gay woman but I've never done the Doug route. But I went back to it (not because I don't believe you, but just wanted to see exactly how it was phrased) and, sure enough, it's word-for-word what you mentioned.

Honestly, I am leaning towards calling this transphobic, too. Like.... there really didn't need to be any mention of "equipment" at all. Your feelings on this are not an overreaction and they are totally valid and in the right. I do not get the impression that there were trans sensitivity readers involved.

I would say, if anyone is subbed to the Seraphinte Patreon, this is definitely something that needs to be brought up to Mishka. Book 3 is still a WIP and these things can still be taken out of the game.

This does not come up if you are playing a straight man or a woman attracted NB person, you will come across this dialogue in CH5. I posted the Ava version but it is the same in every route except the Love Triangle.

"Hey, look. It's your competition, Ava," Farah mumbles so as I almost can't hear, nudging the commanding agent with an elbow. Ava barely bites back a growl at her through gritted teeth.

"It's hardly a fair competition when he's carrying the wrong equipment," Morgan says before barking out a laugh.

Nat sighs. "Be nice to the young lad." She glances between Farah and Morgan. "Both of you."

Noble Families of the Rustsun Empire (with theme songs hehe)

Despite the all-ecompassing control of the God-Empress Sloane, there are a number of Noble Families within the Empire: those who have, over the generations of her reign, elevated themselves -- and in some cases, those who are descended from original followers. Of these, there are three Divisions in the families: The Royals, or -- those who are considered to be so closely-aligned with the Empress’ Might that She has made them Divine Royalty. They are not Godlings as Sloane, her wives, and her children are. Instead, they are as close as a mortal being can get to such power. They may do as they please; their wills may only be surpassed by those of the actual Divinities. There are the High Nobles next, and these  are the families who are, well. Of high nobility. They are useful, they are loyal, and they have proven themselves. This is where many political plays take place, as Royals are only made from the ranks of the High Nobles. Of course, very few of them seem to realize that this was a deliberate mechanism to start infighting -- to see the sparks burn out before they can ignite into wildfires. Then there are the lowest of the Noble Families, those who are Lesser Nobles. They may not be as rich or powerful as those above them, and in some cases they are barely more than citizens who have been given a new position in exchange for some favor. Notably, however, Lesser Nobles are those elevated from the lower classes; it is well known, for example, that the Brandei family of nobility extends from a particularly smart-thinking hunter of anomalies. In order, the Families themselves, with theme songs (that I can elaborate on if someone wants but i could ramble about themes forever):  -> The Bessompierres, of course. ( Their theme in my brain is Shiver by San Fermin). The Royals: - Rightknife Family ( headed by Kaine. Their song is Come Join The Murder by White Buffalo. This is the smallest of all the families; it literally only consists of Kaine and her wife Shizuna Sano, as their daughter Requiem has been accepted as Isra’s bride.) - Ireno Family ( headed by Oerinnys & her husband, Archmage Pthonus. Their song is Carrion Comfort by aeseaes.) - Salve Family ( headed by Candy. Their theme is Song For A Siren by The Jane Austen Argument.) - Carpo Family ( headed by ... Carpo. Their theme is Wires by The Neighborhood -- which might tell you a little bit about how the family got to where it is.) The High Nobility: - The Gavendets (headed by Teague, which is all kinds of scandalous because Teague technically may have committed a minor bit of treason when she plotted against the Empress. The family’s theme is Feed The Machine by Poor Man’s Poison). - The Wulfeyes ( headed by Rhysande. Very mysterious family. Nobody knows much about these people. This is likely by design. Their theme is Inside Of You In Spite Of You by thoushaltnot. ) - The Brightwells (headed by Antonia Brightwell. Magical scions. Inventors of many things, including much of the strange biotech that runs in the empire. Their theme song is Todos pasan por mi rancho by El Cuarteto De Nos. Much like the Carpo theme, the Brightwell theme gives a bit of the game away with the family’s oddities.) - The Silgarrio family (Headed by Mishka. Old blood. Mishka’s ancestors were present when the Empire was formed, or so they believe.  Their theme is Fly On The Windscreen by Depeche Mode.) The Low Nobility:  - The Zathaii ( headed by Mirielle, who inherited after the death of her husband. Their theme is One Day The Only Butterflies Left ... by Bring Me The Horizon.) - The Wyghts ( headed by the painted assassin duo of Deathknell and Grimdark. What they actually do is unknown, because it’s generally agreed that their assassin getup is too conspicuous. Their theme is Mr. Crowley by Ozzy Osbourne! ) And finally ... - the Coranthians (headed by Cora, who inherited the name “cora” upon taking over the family when her parents died. They’re oddly diplomatic, and tend to be peaceful, not wanting to engage in the same nonsense as the other families. So, I bought the society mv outfit for Leo and put him in Eye with Madara and went "wow Leo looks like a rich kid" and my thoughts sort of spiraled from there hkahdjs

The basic idea is an au (maybe Leo's still an idol in this but definitely a composer) where Madara is a private investigator/contract assassin and his latest mission is to investigate this string of murders at a preppy rich boy college. He disguises himself as a student and meets preppy rich boy Leo who doesn't realize he's an assassin but knows he's looking into the murders and is like "seems fun and might give me inspo so lemme tag along". Madara lets him and Leo helps him by essentially throwing money at problems and distracting people by being himself and throwing music sheets everywhere.

Idk how it'll end or if I'll make the killer someone from enstars (thinking of mishka's serial killer Valkyrie) but I have this specific scene where Madara gets bloody saving Leo and they're at Madara's apartment cleaning each other and they do that cliche slowly leaning towards each other until they gently kiss

that's all I got so far but it's taken a hold of my brain and I need to reiterate that this all came from me buying one (1) outfit for Leo. Anyway thank you for listening to this ramble hkahdjs

Hi I still can't get over Lowlander! I'm so deeply in love with the characters and just in awe with everything! I think it's the most epic story of yours ever written! The part where Mishka went back to Orlais and decorated her room of things related to Avaar is just so heartwrenching I honestly felt it in my bones ajsjsjdjd

And when there's a chapter where Jungkook's name was never mentioned, I felt so deeply hurt by that ajsjsjsjdkdk and the relief I felt when in the next chapter his name was mentioned again was just indescribable. Idk I'm just rambling at this point. I just love Lowlander so much. 🤧

I'm so touched by this! That's really sweet to me too that you vie wit as so epic. I think because I worked on that story for so long, it became very small and familiar to me, but it definitely felt big and magical while I was writing it. I like to think of it as the acorn at the heart of the whole series. If I can really pull off the whole story I have in my head, I'll be so proud of myself!

I loooove that chapter you mention. The reader reaction to "2 years later" remains one of my top 3 favorite moments as a writer in this fandom. The responses were unhinged, it was AWESOME. I had been so worried at that point, there was a lot of expressed doubt in whether I could actually redeem Jungkook and have the story end in a satisfactory way, but I'm glad to hear you think so. 🥰

Ok yeah before I get anon's saying that Sebastian's the sweet and kind personification of Rulva das Kíngslánð, ya aren't wrong. He is, but there is his past and what his secondary personification is that you have to take into account.

For his past, Sebastian was incredible abused from 1600 to present day (yes its still ongoing blame the royals) In so many very very unpleasant ways. This has led him to become increasingly touch repulsed to the point that Azura and his kids can barely even give him a pat on the back most days.

That would mean Duchess would have to work incredibly hard to break down those walls of his. That even if she managed to do that there would still be the problem of his touch repulsion so she wouldn't be getting any cuddles or him sleeping next to her in bed.

Next problem, the secondary thing her personifys. That would be The Golden Soul's of the holy lady St. Mary. A group of catholic humans traveled to the island in 1700 and Sebastian was chosen to personify them.

Now he was ruthless as the Golden Soul's. He's the reason why everyone has intricate cross branding placed somewhere on them and why they all know the holy scripture off by heart. If they didn't repeat it right he was the one to punish them.

Trust me when I say he wasn't light handed, even his eldest four kids suffered from it. Leo, Misha, Laelette, and Mercer all have a cross branding on them and he neglects them. Though not to worry because Azura took them in a raised them as her own, she already was their acting mother anyways.

Leonid and Mishka weren't consented to babys which caused lots of problems for them at the hands of Golden Souls. Laelette, well yes she was a child born from love she wasn't a child born in marriage. Mercer, he was an unexpected baby.

The Golden Soul's is still active in present day as a group of mercenaries under the orders of the Kingsland royals, when that side of him comes out he is incredibly dangerous and the chances of Duchess getting harmed is incredibly high.

All in all those flaws/problems make Sebastian an unworthy risk to Duchess's happiness, safety and well-being. There is no fixing him.

curse of strahd is insane i cant believe we rewrote the timeline in a way that uriels entire order is still alive ON ACCIDENT… AND THE PLAYER CHARACTERS WHO HAD THEIR LIVES CHANGE DONT REMEMBER THEIR PREVIOUS TRUTHS, ITS INSANE. THE OTHER PC WHOSE MEMORIES HAVE CHANGED IS KASIMIR. ITS BIG CRAZY DUDE. i made picrews of the order of the forgotten flower a while ago just kind of assuming theyd always be dead bc WHY WOULDNT I so ill put them under the cut along with just so much rambling info about uriel and his order i feel crazy. i never thought we would visit the monastery or GET TO TALK TO THEM AGAIN BUT HERE WE ARE

davey and i basically made up an elf monastery to corellon thats pretty reclusive that uriel was a part of. he was a founding member of the order, which was basically a relic finding task force. originally they went to berez to find the sun sword but it was a trap, all of them died except for uriel who was turned by strahd and excommunicated when he came back (its a big no no to run from a fight in the eyes of followers of corellon, and though he really didnt run he was the only member to come back and boy did he come back wrong)

uriels lover mikhail is someone who one could easily compare to sergei von zarovich and strahd had fun killing him personally but unbeknownst to uriel mishka also came back wrong when the dark powers gave him a second shot at life in the wreckage of the bergomasters manor in berez. uriel didnt find out til 10 years later after he ended his self flagellating isolation + joined the party and was reunited with Mikhail who admitted he had been working with strahd to keep him safe. basically thanks to the deal with the dark powers and manner of his death the mikhail that the party came to know was covered in burn scars, physically cold as ice, and completely unable to emote. it took his warmth. WE WERE PANICKING BC IT SEEMED LIKE HED BEEN CAPTURED BY STRAHD AND WAS IN TROUBLE AND THEN…. WE FINISHED THE INTERACTIVE TOME OF STRAHD AND HISTORY WAS REWRITTEN AND HE AND THE ORDER ARE FINE AND MIKHAIL IS HIS OLD SELF………………. unrecognizable to the party sans uriel and this also means uriel has something to lose again in a major way. IM SO SCARED.

uriel is still strahds spawn it just went down differently and was much more personal. its insane. i feel CRAZY

anyway heres my elf priests via picrew (strahd set the bergomasters manor on fire with them in it, listen, the bg was just impossible not to use)

in order: raphael, gavril aka “gav”, uriel, and mikhail, the oldest OG members of the order. raphael, uriel, and mikhail are straight up elf nuns married to corellon. theyre all very tightly knit and love eachother more than words could say.

then— iehudiel aka “salt”, barakhil, and selafiyel, the youngest and newest members. the twins are half elf/half orcs born from a barovian elf and an outsider, and salt just straight up was an adventurer who became trapped in barovia. the OG 4 are very protective of them and losing the order made uriels brain snap in half.

mishka got the most art from me on account of still being alive but ive doodled all of the OG members of the order!!! the dark power of cold gave him glowy eyes post-revival.
