Really happy with how she turned out! I decided to give her some naiad features, inspired by this post and it was really fun! I hc that she can breathe underwater (even though she doesn't have gills. Do naiads have gills?), although I am not sure if she can do it freely or for a limited amount of time 🤔
The fabric piece covering her chest was loosely inspired by 18th century neckerchiefs, because I wasn't sure how the Mycenaean open chest fashion would fly with the censorship here or on other platforms ¯\_(• ▽ •;)_/¯

Odysseus: Diomedes completes me.
Penelope: Um…hello?
Odysseus: You’re nice too, Pen.
Penelope: I’m your wife.
Odysseus: Ah, but Diomedes is my soulmate. Huge difference.

If Odysseus and Penelope were in the modern day, what couple costume would they dress up in?
My votes the Morticia and Gomez Addams, but what do y’all think?

Gene’s missing most of his memories from his life before the nether because his solution to feeling upset is to just, erase whatever’s making him feel that way about the nether. He can’t remember his mom’s face or her name, or the little street cat he used to sneak food to whenever he went on patrol, or how happy he was playing with Dante when they were little. He can’t remember how nice it felt to sit in the rain or what it was like laying in the grass to watch the stars, or how Dante would always come sleep in his room during storms and he’d pretend the thunder didn’t scare him too.
AUGH im gonna start . cryinf

okay so we all know saiki is a genius. we all know this. I’d love to elaborate.
Saiki can pretty much passively absorb everything he learns, and it seems like he doesn’t really forget anything. Even when he has those ‘uh oh’ moments that we’ve seen, it’s always been because of a distraction and not because lack of knowledge. Bc he absorbs so much information from his direct surroundings, it takes almost nothing for him to learn what’s required of him. ie; how he’s expected to act, the best route to get somewhere, what he learns in school etc.
Consequently, it takes him very little effort to accomplish the ‘regular’ academic expectations for his age. We’ve seen him do a years worth of homework in the blink of an eye… (here comes my hc)
Thus he has a lot of time on his hands. And Saiki is innately curious. To bide his time, he likes to delve into obscure topics, to learn things that are completely unfamiliar to the average person. So Saiki knows a lot, and Saiki reads a lot. At the very ~least~ he knows all about advanced quantum physics, from Kusuke’s mind. Now this MAY be me projecting, but I like to think that Saiki loves to research all things history and philosophy (the average person is not often thinking about these things beyond the surface level).
As a result, his classmates often see him reading about some of the most random and specific subjects ever (after all, what exudes ‘don’t talk to me’ more than reading a dense book?). They come to know that Saiki is the one to go to if they have any questions about ANY general knowledge (see also: kaido asking saiki for homework help even though his own class rank is much higher)
And maybe some of them wonder: why? Why does Saiki perform averagely at school, when he seems so interested in learning? Maybe someone finally asks him about some miscellaneous inconsequential fact…. and the next thing they know Saiki is spouting facts at a mile a minute. Oh you’re asking about Alexander the Great? Did you know that he died so young because he became paralyzed from contaminated wine and then was buried alive? Did you know Alexander’s lineage supposedly traces back to Achilles himself, suggesting that the events of the Trojan War have basis in truth? And if that is the case, what could have caused the decade long Mediterranean sea journeys of Odysseus and Menelaus who were descendants of the Minoan sea experts?
Okay anyways. Moral of the story, Saiki is a secret NERD and you cannot take that away from me. I live by the fact that he is just a random scholar of all things.
Plz expand, I would love to know ur thoughts/reactions

Ooh my personal hc for Hephaestus' involvement in god games might be the incident with the infant. Hephaestus was thrown off Mount Olympus. He might have some beef with Odysseus throwing the baby from the tower?
Oh my, you are a genius!! That would be a really good connection and also use a plot point in the musical itself.
It would be kind of funny too, Odysseus decided that if he was in the same spot again (in the song Monster), he'll be willing to commit it again. So we would have Athena convincing Hephaestus that it would be okay to drop babies on the floor. 🤣

The crew listens to Epic: the Musical.
MK's favorite song is Legendary.
Wukong identifies with Just a Man (not that he'll admit it).
Macaque likes Ruthlessness because he's an emo little stinker.
Sandy likes Open Arms (of course).
Tang and Red Son like Warrior of the Mind.
Pigsy really thinks the monkeys should take Luck Runs Out to heart.
Mei likes Keep Your friends close (a fun bop that belies danger underneath, just like her).
I have to be careful binging a new muscial (or in this case Saga) cus I end up playing each song on loop for hours. Opinions might change once the full and finished versions of later sagas are released.
I love all these hcs <3
Im imagining the gang likely sees/listens to Epic on the reccomendation of MK (who's currently on a Greek Mythology hyperfixation), and he gets them all to watch the full play - maybe in the future as a irl performance or film.
"Legendary" is SUCH an MK song. Both him and Telemachus growing up with the stories of someone dear to them and wanting to replicate their success. I could also see him really liking "Warrior of the Mind" with the theme of "some nobody" gaining the favor of a god (reminds you of anyone?) + SWK is infamously the personification of The Mind in Jttw so its a bonus. MK is smiling evily whenever a harsh plot twist occurs and his fam are shocked silent. >:3
Sun Wukong feels targeted personally with how many of the Epic songs remind him of his past. Ofc he starts crying halfway through "Horse and the Infant", and is inconsolable during "Just A Man" - verbally yelling "NO!" at the end. And like Nezha and Sandy is *silent* during Posideon's songs. Is super jazzed during the triumphant Ithaca Saga though! And feels mega catharic during "King" when Odysseus proves that he still rules to the suitors! He tries his best to hide how much the muscial is affecting him.
Macaque is a canon theatre Nerd - so he's already listened to the musical multiple times, but he's uber excited to see the live performance (and secretly bond with his found fam). Is rocking out during "Ruthlessness" and "Done For" in particular, so much so that he's fidgeting and dancing within his seat. He also vibes with "No Longer You" as someone with powers of prophecy. Is really amazed how much Wukong gets into the musical, but in retrospect understands *why*. Him and Wukong accidentally share a glance during "Would You Fall In Love With Me Again" and it gets a little awkward afterwards.
Mei is similarly excited to see anything with her bestie, so she tried her best not hear/see any spoilers ("it's a centuries' old story Mei" "Ssssh!! Dont tell me!"). She was shooketh by how hard the muscial goes. "Keep Your Friends Close" is her fave based on beat alone. She gets delightedly scared and amazed by consistent horse imagery used with Posideon (shameless link to my fave Animatic of "Ruthlessness").
Tang loves himself some historical and mythological adaptations, and is estatic that MK has given him an excuse to go see one! He's not as familar with Hellenic mytholgy as he is with Hindu-Chinese, but he knows enough lore to make the pog-champ face at every foreshadowing/reference. "Warrior of the Mind" really gets to him as a song about valuing your smarts. He also feels really empathetic for Calypso.
Pigsy only went cus Tang begged him. He feels super lost by the deep Greek lore he's missing, but he can get Odysseus's whole thing with trying to get home - but he def identifies more with Eurylochus. "Luck Runs Out" proves this to him. Later on he feels that the second-in-command was justified in having the soldiers rebel against Odysseus after so many losses (who wouldn't after losing all their friends?). Audibly gasps at the end of "Just A Man" - cus who would just do that!? Is a little freaked out by Circe turning the Athenian's into pigs - Eurylochus is depicted as partly-transformed, played by a pig-demon actor who was in super convincing human makeup in the previous sagas. He also gets protective feelings by-proxy seeing Telemachus's situation since the prince reminds him of MK. Is surprised by how much he likes the musical!
Sandy feels betrayed. This isn't like Disney Hercules at all! He does really enjoy Polites message in "Open Arms" and the later moments when the hopeful soldier's outlook is proven correct. He's a little overwhelmed at points though - he get eerily quiet during Posideon's scenes. He sobs joyfully when Odysseus finally makes it home and reunites with his family! :')
Because of this really good animatic/almost child-like depiction of Aelous by gigi; I can def see "Keep Your Friends Close" being Nezha's fave. It reminds Nezha of when he was far more carefree + has a solid lesson on about trust/"forbidden fruit". He also enjoys the more march-like tune of "Survive". He does however, freeze when he listens to Posideon's songs "Ruthlessness" and "Get in the Water" - he has been on the bad end of a sea god before and is quietly shtting himself for Odysseus.
Red Son goes in feeling like he could have stayed at home listening to the musical on his phone while working on a car instead. He is however blown away by the heavy themes and performances, especially "Warrior of the Mind" and Telemachus's situation - a prince forced to grow up fatherless and protecting his mother from suitors due to his dad pissing off a higher power? Hello?? Accidentally shrieks "YES!!!" when Athena becomes Telemachus's mentor/friend after "Little Wolf".
Princess Iron Fan I could see loving any song including Penelope (she empathizes with the Queen's situation hard), but unexpectedly enjoys "Keep Your Friends Close" - she's a fellow Wind Goddess at her core. It also reminds her of her not-so-little-anymore nephew.
DBK on the flip side loves the heavier songs like "Polyphemus" and "Ruthlessness". This man is a Posedion apologist. He does feels bad for Odysseus by the end though - man just wants to get back to his wife and kid dammit!
Bonus: The Spider Gang are watching the bootleg and Spider Queen agrees with Circe's whole girlboss attitude especially "Puppeteer". Scorpion Queen is Calypso in "Not Sorry For Loving You".
This got a little away from me - hope you enjoy!

New headcanon for Odysseus- He knows what he's doing. He purposely addressed himself as "Father of Telemachus, Odysseus" rather than "Son of Laertes, Odysseus" when speaking to his fellow Achaeans. I now HC that he never shuts up about Telemachus so everyone in camp knows Telemachus- At first, everyone's just- "Telemachus who?" By year 9 of the war: "Ah yes, that's Odysseus, son of Laertes, father of dear Telemachus." ...Now knowing this, imagine what actually went on in Menelaus' and Nestor's heads when Telemachus visited them. "Ah yes, so we finally meet the renowned Telemachus." (YES YOUR FATHER WON'T SHUT UP ABOUT YOU, NOW YOU'RE LOOKING FOR HIM? HAHAHAHA.)

Odysseus and Diomedes weren't described as doing anything after the whole palladium road bump, however I elect to ignore that and hc that Diomedes actually dropped by and visited Ithaca after getting kicked out of Argos, thinking Odysseus had already reached home, and instead met Penelope. ty for coming to my tedtalk

Get ready with me to build a giant wooden horse
Tumblr media
Did I just spend 3 days drawing that eyeliner meme? Yes. Yes, I did.
I'm very late to this year's inktober but nevertheless I'm here))) I decided to combine the official prompt list with the classicstober here, specifically prompt 15 - dagger and prompt 20 - Odysseus. I don't know, if I will draw any other prompts, but this one was fun and I hope you like it :)
The dagger was based on Mycenaean daggers in the national archeological museum in Athens and some Mycenaean dagger reproductions I saw, the scene depicted is Odysseus hunting Athena' boar. I hc this dagger was either a gift from Athena herself or from Autolycus, I haven't decided yet.

Hc/au idea: rather than having weird platonic mind babies with people, Athena takes more after Artemis. When a strong-willed mortal child is orphaned, runs away, or for whatever other reason doesn’t have parents, or disowned their parents, she imparts the Blessing of Athena. This functionally gives them the powers of an Athenian demigod.
Given they don’t have parents of their own, they still treat and think of Athena as their mother (usually), go to the Athena cabin, etc. the story is almost exactly the same, it just doesn’t give Athena weird biological kids
This also retroactively makes Odysseus a ‘son’ of Athena, which i felt was most important when coming up with this. He is her archetypal student, and should be eligible for the Athena cabin.

In your modern AU, what does Achilles study/ what does he work? Sorry if you mentioned this already, I’m curious :]
Hi! No worries, I love talking about this AU so you’re good! 😊
Achilles is a musician! He’s the lead singer of an alternative band (his band mates are Odysseus, Diomedes and his cousin Ajax!). He’s always been musically inclined but he didn’t start singing for the band until he was like 16ish. It was originally just Odysseus, Diomedes, Ajax and some lead singer, Achilles used to hang out with his older cousin and watch them play so when the lead singer left, he practically wedged his way in there and took his place. In those early days, they were playing small shows which he had to sneak out to even go to bc he was still living with his parents lmao
So in my AU, he dropped out of high school and didn’t attend college. I’ve always had the HC that Achilles has ADHD and dyslexia so academics have been a struggle for him (Thetis pressuring him to go to college bc it’s the ‘right thing to do’ never helped either) and at 17 he left home, left school and put all his focus into their band which paid off because they are proper celebrities now lol
Hope that explains everything well enough! ^^💕
