"Why won't you sing!?" Hidgens exclaims to Paul. "I-.." Paul paused, "Because singing killed my grandma, okay!?" Hidgens expression softened, feeling sorry for the young man. "Oh my god, Paul.. I'm so.." Emma said, not hearing this side of Paul's story yet. "We didn't know..." Emma assured him. "It's okay, it wasn't your fault." Paul sighed. "It was mine..." Paul flashed back to the night his grandma died. He was singing his favorite song, Total Eclipse of The Heart. "I.. I didn't hear my grandma calling out for me.." His grandma yelled his name, but he didn't hear. The flash mob was right behind him. "I eventually heard her, but it was too late..." His grandma jumped into the crowd, to stop them from killing Paul. "I'm so sorry Paul. You know, I had an uncle who broke his neck tap dancing once.." Hidgens said. This didn't ease Paul. Talking about it made him feel worse. "Why did you keep this locked inside you, Paul?" Emma asked him, worried. They sat down, where Hidgens couldn't hear them. "I didn't want you to think any less of me.." Paul replied. "I would never think any less of you. I love you." She assured him.

so! when i was asking about species suggestions the other day, it was because that... * drum roll*

meredith is not the only one to be isekai'd onto the island! i dont ah, have a specific reference for him yet, but heres a rundown:

- While Meredith was brought to the island through unexplained magical means after saving a penguin from being struck by their out of control arctic research vehicle, Perkins was hit by a bus after leaving a showing of Happy Feet and thinking it was a pretty bad movie.

- Perkins has a first name (that I have not decided yet) but hes on a last name basis with nearly everyone becase he dislikes them all, with very few exceptions.

- Ends up working with Herbert aftet being captured by him while snooping around his lair and was held hostage for a few weeks. Herbert was going to use him as leverage...buuut much to his surprise Perkins was just some guy and not an agent. Perkins did not tell him the truth sooner because he 1. didnt believe Herbert was really a vegetarian 2. was already mentally checking out by then and 3. didnt know Herbert was talking about a REAL secret agency. Either way, he agrees to help Herbert because he doesnt really care about the penguins and its not HIS home being torn up for someones benefit...plus, its easier to have a scapegoat to be angry with than to just accept youre a penguin now for inexplicable reasons.

- Perkins and Meredith did not know they were both ex humans for a long time.

-Actually didnt mind the cold until y'know, he got yoinked here as a banded penguin, specifically a Magellanic. (Thanks again to @/weegee32235 for the suggestion!)

So yeah, thats everything. Except the fact hes in a slowburn divorce with Herbert. (as you do)
