I just found the abandoned angsty WIP titled Unending I started the last time I was in a similar personal situation as now - read below for a snippet

It wasn’t always like this, Obi-Wan thought as he nudged aside broken shards of what earlier had been a desk chair with the toe of his boot. He couldn’t pinpoint when things had changed, but surely it hadn’t always been like this.

Not that it had ever exactly been easy. He’d thought he was ready - hell, he’d thought he was more than ready - to be a Knight. And perhaps he had been.

But to become both a Knight and a Master overnight? That he hadn’t been prepared for.

He’d been floundering ever since.

Obi-Wan had done his best to raise Anakin to be a good man, to train him to be a good Jedi. He’d changed the course of his own life, striving to be an example for Anakin, the Master he needed, the one he deserved.

Obi-Wan had given all of himself and done his best; he knew that to be true just as well as he knew that his best wasn’t going to be good enough.

He never going to be the Master that Anakin wanted; that role had already been claimed by another.

He was only a weak imitation, far less than the boy deserved.

And it showed.

It was impossible to miss all the ways he fell short, not to see everything that Anakin needed that he wasn’t quite able to give.

And it was Obi-Wan’s own fears that kept him from admitting it to anyone but himself. Not just out of fear of failure, of defeat. No, it stemmed from worse: the fear of losing him.

Maybe that’s why Anakin was so angry. Maybe somewhere along the lines he had come to realize the same truth.

Obi-Wan was failing him.

It was all Obi-Wan’s fault.
