Republican tyranny comes with a high price. Services to the elderly, the physically handicapped, and children were cut without warning. A right-wing group funded by oligarch backed Republican political foundations swept in without warning and launched a blitz campaign against books and woke agenda. They destroyed a county library system before anyone could mobilize against them.

Attacks on libraries and school boards are still ongoing everywhere. They have the backing of Republican think tanks funded by billionaires. Once the local MAGA agitators are fired up they descend on communities and often use threats and violence to get their way. Once they get a law is changed it’s almost impossible to restore equity.

Their stated written goal is total war against the US. They want to change everything they consider woke, helpful to the poor, elderly, and marginalized and “fill every position from dog catcher to president with a Republican.” This was the Bannon-Trump plan in 2016, it’s in Project 2025, and the Republican political foundations are all openly pressing for it.

The United States will be a literal theocratic dictatorship run by corporate oligarchs through fascist Republican tyrants. It’s not speculation or hysteria. It’s their literal plan written down and published for all to see.

Lizzo attacks transphobic politicians during concert in Nebraska

To transgender kids and youth she said: “Don’t let these laws tell you who you are not. I see you. You are valid. You deserve to be protected.” 

On May 19 Nebraska lawmakers approved  ban on abortion care at roughly 10 weeks of pregnancy combined with a bill that limits gender-affirming care for transgender youth. Lizzo is seriously angry about the whole thing.

“Anybody who comes to a Lizzo show should know that I am for people to have the right to healthcare, reproductive and gender affirming,” the R&B superhero said.

“There’s times I get very political and as adults, we feel it. But there’s children here tonight. And it really breaks my heart that there are young people growing up in a world that doesn’t protect them.

“So let me be your safe space tonight. Don’t let anybody tell you who you are. Don’t let any law tell you who you’re not, you are who you are, okay?

“I see you. You are valid. You deserve to be here in every form. You contain multitudes.

“These laws are not real. YOU are what’s real and you deserve to be protected.”

I’m at a crossroads

I am to a point in my academic career where I need to get my head out of my ass and sort out what it is that I really want. It’s becoming a source of daily stress, trying to figure out to what degree I want to study creative writing. Do I even want the structure of professional writing? Do I want to study literature for a job, and write for passion?

Not to mention, the state of affairs globally and in the US is a clusterfuck and I’m an anxious wreck. It’s SO DRAINING, doing my best to work for a future that I don’t even know will come. I love my country, I love what it could be, but it has yet in its history to fulfill its promise of freedom & equality. Civil rights are struck down by a christofascist panel of robed neo nazis and all their dirty red henchmen. Our history is marred by classist white male supremacy, but only when a collective, unrelenting voice is raised can they be brought down, as the people have done in the past. But for fucks sake, does it have to be my 20s of Terror?? It’s hard enough….

I despise the proposed immigration bill, wish Biden wouldn't support it, but he's 100% right to blast the Republicans for their hypocrisy on it.

Also full credit to him for:

a) Rebuking the Republican hecklers and their lynch mob propaganda, noting that more violence is committed by those who are not illegal immigrants than those who are.

b) For explicitly calling out Trump's literally Nazi rhetoric on the issue.

c) Reminding people that his predecessor threw little kids in cages.

The disruptors have mostly shut up, and Republicans are visibly stewing. They know he's hitting them hard.
