We deserved a Macgyver and Criminal minds crossover. I want to see Reid and Mac bonding over being smart and Hotch and Matty bonding over leading and Garcia and Prentiss vibing with Riley about technology and having a past goth phase. Where is JJ and Sam being blonde together. Where is Derek and Jack. Why is there no bozer and Luke or like group bonding between the two teams? It would be so nice

idk, I feel like I'm going through a macgyver relapse maybe, but today I was going through some old fic drafts and now I'm thinking about Samantha Cage and how absolutely criminal it was that they just dropped her story out of the blue and we never got to know more about her. She was one of the most interesting characters in the show, and there was so much potential!!!!!!!!!!!

badass woman with a mysterious and probably shady past??? also a talented interrogator??? and the fact that Murdoc seemed to know stuff about her??? The theory that she was Mac's sister?????? (and I honestly think they might have gone that path, if she'd stayed. In which case, congratulations, James, A+ parenting in both cases, I guess).

i know that there might or might not be a very reasonable explanation for why she was removed from the show, but I'm entitled to one non-nuanced opinion per day, and I don't care to know why she wasn't there, I'm just sad about Samantha Cage not being more explored in the story.

I Put a Spell on You

Local bookstore owner (Desi) hates Halloween, but when a persistent possible witch (Cage) blows into town, she may have to change her mind.

The morning fog was thicker than usual the day the possible witch arrived in town. Where she came from, Desi had no idea. Perhaps she blew in with the swift ocean wind or the marine layer during the night. One moment their sleepy little beach town was dull and quiet and peaceful, and the next something changed in the air upon the woman’s arrival, like she brought something wild with her, something that didn’t fit into the townsfolk’s domestic little lives.

Desi didn’t much like change. Or new people. Naturally, she disliked the new woman immediately, before even meeting her or learning her name.

Autumn arrived without fanfare in the beach towns along the California coast, the cypress and oaks perennially green, the temperature nearly the same year-round. The ocean breeze wasn’t quite as soothing as it was all summer, but it didn’t yet cut through clothing like it would all winter. A nice season, although not Desi’s favorite.

Actually, it was her least favorite, much to the disappointment of her best friend, Riley.

It was mid-morning by the time Desi trudged into Riley’s cafe for a steaming cup of coffee and some breakfast. Perk of being a store owner herself—Desi could open up shop whenever she damn well pleased. Desi sat in her usual spot at the counter, perched atop a worn barstool.

Years ago now, Riley coughed up her life savings to buy the old seafood restaurant and turn it into the town’s best (and only) brunch spot. She called it The Brink, aptly named since the building sat right on the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea. Desi worried that it would one day fall into the ocean; Riley didn’t seem to care. That was typical of her best friend, always one to take risks and live on the edge. In this case, literally.

Dressed in her usual uniform of black jeans, a gray t-shirt, and combat boots—not an apron in sight—Riley slid a pumpkin-shaped mug in front of Desi’s face. “If I ran my business like you did, I’d starve half the town,” she said. After so many years of the same routine, they rarely bothered with ‘Hello’s anymore.

Desi eyed the mug skeptically. “What the hell is this?”
