Tumblr media
Cam called a staff meeting today... No one would have ever predicted that it would be about a broken coffee pot. Not a corpse, not a piece of broken bone, but a broken pot.
They all stood around the broken coffee pot confused, in the coffee maker it's self was large beaker from the lab in place of the pot. All of us minus Bones, she was aggravated she was taken away from her work for this.
“So...” Cam said crossing her arms “Who broke it? I'm not mad, I just wanna know.” she said softly looking at everyone.
Everyone stayed silent as Seeley and Lance walked in confused. Lance walked up next to y/n looking at the broken glass. Before he could ask what happened y/n sighed when she saw everyone's silent panic and spoke up.
“...I did. I broke it.” y/n said trying to save who's ever ass broke it.
Cam shook her head and sighed “No. No you didn't, you don't even drink coffee. Dr. Hodgins?”
Jack looked insulted that she would even mention him, did he not relize how many beakers he's broken in the Lab? “Don't look at me. Look at Wendell”
The blond look bewildered and gave Jack a dirty look before turning to Cam. “What?! I didn't break it.”
Jack hummed and looked at Cam like he cracked the case “Huh, that's weird. How'd you even know it was broken?”
Wendell started to get annoyed, he rubbed his fave then pointed to the broken glass “Because it's sitting right in front of us and it's broken.”
Jack shrugged “Suspicious.”
“No, it's not!” Wendell said shaking his head. Cam, who just wanted an answer sighed right back and looked towards Seeley who interjected.
“If it matters, probably not, but Lance was the last one to use it.” y/n and Lance both looked at him shocked.
“Liar! I don't even work here!” Lance said stepping away from the group.
“Oh really? Then what were you doing by the coffee cart last night?” Seeley asked in joking matter, he wasn't really trying to blame him.
“Because Brennan asked me to get her a cup of coffee while I got y/n her tea. They were both working late last Everyone knows that, Booth” Lance quickly said and his story check out.
Angela sighed and put her hands up “Okay let's not fight. I broke it. Let me pay for it, Cam”
Cam stoped her and held up the lose handle “No! Who broke it!?”
Everyone stayed quiet, they all shared glances just waiting for someone to crack. Jack's eyes fell on Bones who was now checking her watch.
Jack glanced at Cam “Cam Brennan's been awfully quiet.”
Bones gasped, shocked anyone would accuse her of such accusations “really Dr. Hodgins?!”
Everyone starts arguing after that, the squints and the scientists that is. Lance and Seeley stared, still confused on what just happened. Cam just snickered and walked over to the boys. “I broke it by accident. It burned my hand so I punched it.”
Seeley and Lance started chuckling when they saw y/n throw a hand full of coffee stirrers at Wendell and Jack.
Seeley chuckled. “I predict 10 minutes from now they'll be at each other's throats with warpaint on their faces and a skull on a stick.”
*Later at the Bureau*
“crap!” James sighed as the sound of glass shattering filled his ears, he quickly looked around for witness hoping no one saw him break the coffee pot in the break room.
Caroline sighed and pulled out her phone from a distance, James didn't see her dialing Cam's number. “Cam, tell me how you handled the coffee pot situation at the jeffersonian”

Booth x reader - close call
Tumblr media
You weren’t sure how it happened, one moment you were standing next to Booth, the next you were stood there, completely frozen in your spot.
He didn’t seem to notice you weren’t following him anymore, and you stumbled back a few steps while he stepped forward to the body of the person who had shot at you.
“B..booth…” you mumbled.
“What?”
He slowly approached the corner, and you placed a hand over your side, putting as much pressure on the wound as you could.
“Where’s Brennan?” You asked.
“She should be up ahead, go back and send uniforms down here when they get here!”
You nodded your head, turning around to head back towards the entrance of the building.
You stumbled a few steps, catching yourself on the doorway.
Standing up, you pushed yourself out of the building, and you walked a few steps to the side, spitting some blood on to the floor.
Pulling your hand away, you looked at your bloody hand, placing it back on the wound and you turned around as you heard shouting of your name.
“You could’ve gotten Bones killed!” Booth snapped.
You opened your mouth but closed it again, turning your attention to the ground instead.
“You gave us all away, and put someone in the line of fire!”
Booth marched over, fury in his eyes as he stared at you.
“Booth!”
He stopped, turning around to Brennan who ran over to him, pointing to the floor.
He saw the droplets of blood, some spots seemed to have more than others, showing where you had stopped and then carried on walking.
“He wasn’t aiming for me Booth.” Brennan said quietly.
“Call for backup, now! And get whatever we need to keep (Y/N) alive!”
Booth ran over to you, and he placed a hand on your shoulder, and you grabbed him arm.
He could hear your pained breathing, and he could feel your hand trembling.
“Hey.. hey you’re okay…”
You slumped against him, and he quickly lowered you to the floor, resting your back against his chest.
“Woah, easy. Okay..”
Booth looked down at you, bringing his hand up to cover yours, putting more pressure on your wound.
His other hand came up, and he paced it on your shoulder, wrapping you in a kind of hug, holding you closely against himself.
“You’re okay… it’s okay…” he whispered.
“I..I’m sorry.. I’m so sorry…”
Booth rested his chin on your head.
“It’s okay… it’s okay…” he whispered.
He looked up to where Brennan was in by the car digging through some things.
“Bones hurry up!”
He looked at his hand over yours, and the amount of blood in his skin.
“(Y/N) keep talking to me, keep talking okay… stay awake for me..”
You didn’t reply, and he moved to the side a little bit to look at you.
Blood seeping from your lips, eyes closed and your body nearly falling to the ground.
“No, no, no, (Y/N)?”
Booth gently shook you.
“(Y/N)!”
Booth didn’t know what to do, and he looked up to Brennan who was running back with everything.
“Bones help me!” He yelled.
“Lay her down!” Brennan yelled.
He did as he was told and carefully laid you on your back, and he fell down, bringing a hand to cover his mouth.
Sitting on his knees, he brought a trembling hand to your face, placing his palm on your cheek, running a thumb along your skin.
“Booth I need you to hold here.”
Brennan took his hands and pressed them firmly over the wound, and she began CPR on you.
It didn’t seem like long, but for Booth it felt like forehead until help arrived and you were taken away.
He rushed to the hospital and he stood in the waiting room alone, covered in your blood until he was dragged away to finish the case.
But as soon as the actual killer confessed, booth was straight back to the hospital to get any information about your condition that he could.
“Booth! How is she?” Angela asked.
“I.. I don’t know, nobody will tell me anything, it’s been hours since she was admitted.”
“Just give them time Seeley.” Cam sighed.
He slammed his hand on the desk.
“I don’t have time!”
“You blame yourself, that’s okay. But this isn’t your fault, there was nothing you could have done to stop that man firing at (Y/N), getting angry won’t make them give you news any faster.” Sweets said.
Booth glared at the younger man, and he made his way back outside, sitting on the curb in front of the hospital.
Booth ran a hand down his face, tears burning his eyes, and he cleared his throat a little bit, blinked a few times to clear the tears.
He stayed outside for a few moments before he stood up, heading back inside.
They all sat waiting for any update on you.
“You can’t blame yourself man.” Hodgins whispered.
“It’s my fault, she shouldn’t have even been there. I should’ve known not to bring her.” Booth said lowly.
“Come on, you know (Y/N) wouldn’t want you to blame yourself.” Sweets said.
“What if she doesn’t make it…?” He asked.
Everybody looked at him but nobody knew what to say to him. They didn’t know how to comfort him, because how did you comfort somebody who was waiting to find out if someone they cared about died or not.
And that’s all he was thinking about.
What if you died?
Booth looked at his hands, and all he could see was your blood staining his skin even though he scrubbed them over and over again.
Sure, he’d had blood on his hands before, but knowing your blood had literally been on his hands was different.
“(Y/N) (L/N)?”
Everybody stood up, and booth was at the front of everybody.
“It’s been hours, why haven’t anybody given us any updates?” He asked.
“Because we haven’t been able to give one with any certainty.”
“I can’t care what you do or don’t have, when the FBI asked for an update you give them a damn update!” Booth yelled.
“Woah, okay. Maybe let’s not yell at the doctors trying to save our friend.” Angela said.
Booth stared at the doctor who took an unsure step backwards.
“Sorry… we uh.. honestly right now it doesn’t look good. The bullet was a clean shot, but (Y/N) didn’t fall, she walked, and it moved the bullet meaning it caused more damage, and some of the fragments went elsewhere. We’re doing all we can and I’ll come with another update soon.”
With that he ran away and booth went back to his feet, staring his hands as he waited.
Hours passed and finally the doctor came back out.
“We’ve got her stable, but she’s still critical. There was a lot of damage but right now things are looking good.”
Everybody was taken to your room, and while the others stood around your bed, Booth stood on the other side of the room watching you.
You were unnaturally pale, you still had dirt and dried blood on your face.
“Booth…?” Brennan asked.
He shook his head and walked away.
When he came back, everybody had gone, and he set his bag down in the chair opening it.
He pulled out some wipes and he walked over, taking one out of the pack and he sat on the bed next to you.
He reached out, his hand shaking a little bit, and he stopped himself.
Taking a deep breath, he worked at carefully cleaning your skin of the dirt and the dried blood.
When he was done, he cleaned your hands and arms, and he went through his bag again.
He pulled out some of the things he took from your office, your favourite photo, your favourite cushion, and a few other things to decorate the room.
Walking back over, he lifted your head and placed the cushion under it, sitting next to you again.
“I know you can’t sleep without it…” he mumbled.
Booth brushed some hair from your face, leaning forward he kissed your head head, laying himself next to you on the hospital bed.
It wasn’t the best sleep he had ever had, but every night he would go to your hospital room and sleep there.
Two weeks had passed, and just like always Booth walked into the room, stretching a little bit to see that your bed was empty.
“(Y/N)?”
He looked around, then ran towards the nurses station.
“Where is she?!”
“Who?”
“The woman in that room! Where did she go?!”
Another nurse walked over, placing a hand on his shoulder.
“She’s gone for physio, just like she has for the past few days.”
Booth furrowed his brows and he looked at the nurse.
“How long?”
“She’s been awake maybe a week now, doing physio for a few days, she’s actually coming down the hallway now.”
Booth turned around to see you slowly walking down the hallway, and when you saw him you immediately turned your head towards the floor.
He walked over to the doctor.
“I’ve got it.”
He placed your hand on his arm, slowly helping you back to your room.
He said nothing as he helped sit down, and he covered you up with the blanket.
“You’ve been awake for a week.”
You slowly nodded your head.
“You didn’t think to tell me you’ve been awake?!” He hissed.
“I.. I thought you would stop coming..”
Booth furrowed his brow and looked at you confused.
“Do you want me to stop coming..?”
You said nothing and Booth made his way towards the door.
“No!”
He stopped.
“I… don’t want to sleep alone Booth..”
He sighed, turning around he walked back over and he laid next to you again.
You rested your head next to his shoulder, and watched as he flicked through channels on the TV.
“I thought if you knew I was awake you’d stop coming…”
“No, of course not. If you asked me I would’ve carried on sleeping here.”
He placed his arm over your head and he tapped you trying to move your head.
“Move your head.”
You lifted it and he put his arm under your head so you could rest on it.
Neither of you said anything for a few moments, and Booth noticed how your hand clung to your injury, as if trying to stop it from bleeding.
Reaching out he placed his hand over yours.
“Hey… it’s okay… you’re not bleeding..”
“I can’t help it..”
Booth ran his thumb along your knuckles.
“I know… but you know what, you’re going to be okay, and you’ll be back on your feet in no time.”
You looked up at him.
“It hurts when I move…”
Booth looked down at you, smiling a little.
“Yeah, yeah getting shot will do that to you. But trust me, in a few months you won’t even feel a thing.”
You stared at him for a moment.
“Why did you keep coming here…? I thought you were pissed at me..?”
“No. I mean yes okay I was pissed, but you were shot.”
You stared up at him with furrowed brows and he sighed, leaning forward to rest his forehead on yours and you closed your eyes.
“I was scared I lost you…”
“I’m sorry I messed up…”
He pulled away and you looked at him.
“No, you didn’t mess up. Okay? I shouldn’t have been so angry, I should’ve checked on you straight away, and I should’ve told you I loved you.”
“W..what…?”
Booth leant down, carefully pressing his lips to yours and then he pulled away.
“I love you…”
You leant forward, quickly leant forward, kissing him again and he leant into the kiss.
When he went to pull away you leant up, only to groan in pain and lay back down.
“Take it easy.. relax… you need to stay laid down..”
He smiled and covered you back up with the blanket, laying down and you rested your head on his chest, laying on your good side.
Booth reached his out his hand, placing it over your wound.
“You don’t have to keep holding it, it’s okay, it’s not bleeding okay? I won’t let anything happen, just go to sleep.”
“You’ll make sure I don’t bleed out?”
Booth smiled a little bit.
“Yeah, yeah of course I will, I would never let you bleed out.”
You smiled to yourself, taking his free hand so you can hold it, and it wasn’t long before you drifted asleep.
Just like he said, he kept his hand on your side, even when he fell asleep as well, making sure that you weren’t bleeding.
You were scared, and he knew that, and if he had to lay there holding your bandage covered sighed so you could some sleep then that’s what he would do

Love and Acceptance
Tumblr media
Waking up in Seeley Booth's bed felt like a dream I was almost afraid to believe. The soft morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room. The best night's sleep I'd had in a while had refreshed me in ways I hadn't realized I needed.
I stretched lazily beneath the covers, savoring the comfort of his bed. As I blinked away the remnants of sleep, memories of the previous night flooded my mind—laughter, shared stories, stolen glances that spoke volumes and the way he held me through the night make my heart flutter at just the thought.
With a contented sigh, I slid out of bed, my bare feet touching the cool floor. Booth's shirt, left on a nearby chair, beckoned to me. I slipped it on, the fabric carrying his scent—a heady mix of aftershave and warmth that wrapped around me like an embrace. Stepping into the morning light, I felt a flush of nervous excitement. We had crossed a threshold last night, and the reality of it was both exhilarating and humbling.
As I padded out of the bedroom, I found Booth in the kitchen, moving about with an ease that suggested he was right at home here. He glanced up from the stove, a warm smile gracing his lips.
"You look like you slept well," he said, his voice warm and teasing.
I grinned, my cheeks tinted with a playful blush. "I did, surprisingly. Your bed is like a cloud."
Booth chuckled, turning off the stove and approaching me. "Well, I'm glad you feel at home here."
Leaning against the counter, I watched him with a mixture of fascination and affection. He was effortlessly handsome, his dark hair tousled from sleep, a hint of stubble adding to his rugged charm.
"I hope you don't mind that I raided your wardrobe," I said, tugging at the hem of his shirt.
Seeley's gaze raked over me, his eyes twinkling with approval. "I don't mind at all. You wear it well."
A pleasant shiver ran down my spine at the intensity of his gaze. This wasn't just about clothes—it was about the connection we shared, the unspoken understanding that had grown between us.
He stepped closer, his hand reaching out to tuck a loose strand of hair behind my ear. "Last night was... amazing, YN."
His words were sincere, carrying a weight of emotion that mirrored my own feelings. I reached up to cup his cheek, my thumb brushing against the roughness of his jawline.
"It was," I agreed softly. "I can't remember the last time I felt so... alive."
Booth's fingers grazed my cheek, his touch gentle and affectionate. "You deserve all the happiness in the world, YNN."
As I looked into his eyes, I saw a future that was both uncertain and promising—a path that we were willing to explore together. The depth of our connection, the way our lives had intertwined, felt like destiny's way of guiding us toward each other.
Seeley's lips met mine in a tender kiss, and in that moment, I felt the promise of something beautiful—a love story that was uniquely ours, a journey of two souls finding solace and strength in each other's arms. As we pulled away, the scent of coffee and breakfast mingled with the intimacy of the morning.
As Booth and I walked into the Jeffersonian later on in the morning, my heart raced with a mix of excitement and nervousness. This was my workplace, where I spent countless hours with Brennan and the rest of the team. I knew that once I crossed that threshold with Booth by my side, things would change, and I wasn't sure how everyone would react.
Brennan was already at her workstation, engrossed in examining skeletal remains. Her keen observation skills were second to none, and it wasn't long before she looked up, her expression one of curiosity and surprise.
"Good morning, Dr. Brennan," I greeted, trying to sound casual despite the flutter of emotions within me.
Temperance raised an eyebrow, her gaze shifting between Booth and me. "Good morning, YN. Is there a reason Agent Booth is accompanying you to work?"
Booth stepped forward, a reassuring smile on his lips. "Morning, Bones. YN and I... well, we've been spending some time together."
Brennan's expression remained skeptical, her analytical mind at work. "I see. And what does this new development entail?"
Seeley took a deep breath, his voice steady. "Bones, YN and I have gotten closer. We've started seeing each other… romantically."
Dr. Brennan's eyes widened in surprise, and then her features softened with understanding. "Oh. I see. So, you two are in a romantic relationship."
I nodded, my nerves dissipating as Booth held my hand. "Yes, that's right."
Her gaze shifted between us once more, her analytical mind assessing the situation. "I must admit, this is unexpected. But if you both have found a meaningful connection, I'm pleased for you."
Booth's smile grew wider, his relief evident. "Thanks, Bones. Your support means a lot."
Brennan's lips curved into a small smile. "As a scientist, I rely on evidence and observation. And from what I can see, you both seem genuinely happy together."
I felt a rush of gratitude for Temperance's acceptance. She was known for her rationality and logic, and her willingness to embrace this new development without hesitation meant more to me than I could express.
He squeezed my hand, his gaze never leaving mine. "We’re just taking it one step at a time, Bones. I wanted you to know that YN is important to me."
Brennan nodded, her eyes warm. "YN, as long as your work here remains professional and unbiased, I have no objections. I'm happy for both of you."
I smiled, a genuine sense of relief washing over me. "Thank you, Dr. Brennan. I appreciate your understanding."

“You need to talk to Booth.” Angela said as she hurried into Brennan’s office. She frowned and slowly looked away from her computer screen. “Oh… new book pages?”
“Yes. But I… I often speak to Booth. I find it enjoyable… Ah. You mean about something specific.” She said quickly when she looked up at Angela.
“Yes. Honey. I do. It’s about me and… (Y/N).” Angela said and waited for Brennan to catch on.
“(Y/N). Booth’s sister. What about her?” Brennan asked. She was worried for a moment before Angela sighed and looked irritated. “Has she done something to upset you?”
“No. No. It’s Booth. (Y/N) and I… are (Y/N) and I. But Booth seems very oblivious about the whole thing. (Y/N) thought she’d spoken to him about it but he seems to just think we’re very good friends.” Angela explained. Brennan nodded as she thought up a solution.
“I have a wonderful book on the sexualities of the word. Perhaps that could help?” She offered. Angela smiled and nodded slowly.
“Thanks, sweetie but maybe just ask Booth to have a talk with (Y/N). Now they’re both being awkward with each other.” She said and Brennan nodded.
“Of course. But you know it’s a really good book.” She offered. Angel smiled and quickly moved on the conversion to the data in the file she had.
**************
“I just don’t see why you need to give me the book.” Booth said. Sweet frowned as he looked up from his notes. Booth and Brennan were sitting in his office.
“I just felt that there are people in your life that would benefit, relationship-wise, if you were more informed on the matter.” Brennan went on.
“I’m sorry, what's happening?” Sweets asked.
“She’s given me a book. Which is fine. I'll read through it. But I don’t see why I need it. I know about Angela and her girlfriends. I don’t have a problem with it.” Booth said quickly.
“Well, you must have. (Y/N) have been feeling uncomfortable. If I understood what Angela was saying to me.” Brennan said in the way she spoke to Booth when he just couldn’t seem to understand what she was explaining.
“Look. I don’t need a book to tell me how great Angela is. I know that.” Booth snapped.
“Ahh. Ok. I see what is happening.” Sweets said and they both turned to him.
“Don’t do that. Don’t ahh me.” Booth huffed.
“Well, it’s his way of letting us know he caught up to our conversation Booth. Don’t snap at him just because you’re in a mood.” Brennan said and gestured towards Sweets.
“I’m not in a mood.” Booth huffed.
“Well, your tone and your posture would suggest otherwise. You’re all hunched over.” Brennan said and mimicked his crossed arms.
“I am not hunched.” Booth grumbled.
“OK. I think that maybe Booth is feeling defensive. Not grumpy. Our relatives' relationships, whether we support them or not, can be a very sensitive subject and changing our opinions of the people we love is a very hard process. Especially for someone like you Booth and the childhood you’ve had with your siblings.” Sweets summed up. Brennan frowned as she mulled over his logic.
“What does my sister have to do with Angela’s new partner?” Booth asked. Sweet and Brennan both went quiet and stared at him. “What?”
“Urm… Uh. (Y/N)... is Angela’s...” Sweets stuttered. Brennan sighed and leaned over in her chair. Putting her hand on his arm.
“Booth. (Y/N) and Angela have been dating for months. Why did you think (Y/N) took you out to lunch the other day?”
“To get a great gift for Angela’s…” Booth said. If he was honest the two of you didn’t exactly have the relationship where the two of you sat down and chatted about feelings. Which was when it dawned on him. “Anniversary.”
“They’ve been dating for almost a year.” Brennan said slowly.
“How did I not notice?” Booth asked. He leaned forward in his chair, head in hand as he sighed.
“We could work on some communication skills if you like?” Sweets offered. Brennan perked up at that and took the pamphlets he pulled out of his folder while Booth mulled over the whole conversation he’d had with you.
**************
“Hey. (Y/N).” Booth said as he spotted you across the crime scene.
“Hey.” You said quickly. You were focused on fetching the sample in your hands and he waited until you were done before saying anything else. “So. Did you find a gift for Angela’s anniversary?”
“Yeah. That painting I saw. I think it’s the kind of thing she’s looking for.” You said as you headed over to Hodgins.
“Oh yeah. She’s gonna love that painting. I’ve been subtly dropping hints like you asked. She loved that other one that sold so I think you’re doing great.” He said quickly. Booth glanced at him and cleared his throat.
“You helped get the gift… because you knew they were dating.” Booth’s tone was weird enough that you stopped what you were doing and looked at him.
“Yeah.” Hodgins said with a drawn-out questioning tone. “Booth… you do know that (Y/N) and Angela are dating?”
“Yeah! Yeah. Of course, I know.” Booth said quickly. You frowned, trying to figure out what was going on with him.
“How long have you known because you look like you’re freaking out.” Hodgins said quickly. Booth started to sputter out a defensive answer but Bones cut in, carrying gear over to the table you were using.
“About twenty-seven minutes… well twenty-seven and a quarter to be exact.” She answered. Your mouth dropped open.
“What! Who did you think I was talking about when we’d hang out?” You asked and Booth groaned as Camille joined the group.
“Oh wow. That’s bad Booth. They are not subtle about flirting with each other.” She said with amusement.
“Look ok. I just didn’t put two and two together ok. I’m ok with it though.” He added and looked at you. You could tell that he was and that his discomfort came from talking with his little sister about her love life. But that didn’t mean you weren’t going to pass up the opportunity to torment him.
“Uhu. That’s why you’ve not acknowledged our relationship till now.” You said and grinned when he started to insist that he was supportive until he saw your face.
“You know that’s not funny. I’m not like… I…” Booth trailed off and everything became rather awkward. Misunderstanding the silence Brennan did her best to try and smooth things over.
“He means that he isn’t like your father. Who was abusive and probably would not approve of your relationship with Angela. Which is a wonderful relationship by the way.” She added the last part with a genuine smile towards you.
“Thanks, Bones, for that harrowing reminder of my past let's just focus on the case before Sweets feels the awkwardness of this conversion from his office and teleports here.” Booth said quickly. You looked down at your work and then up again when you heard Sweets calling out.
“Look what you did.” You huffed and gestured to Sweets who waved at you. Booth made you wave back when Bones said if you didn’t he would come over.
“How is this my fault?” Booth asked.
“Because whenever you get awkward about something Mr fix-it shows up to make it slightly worse.” Hodgins muttered. You all watched Sweet try to approach you but get grossed out by the crime scene and turn back to sit in his car.
“I think I’m done here anyway.” Bones muttered. Everyone packed up but before you could get in the van with Hodgins, Booth caught up with you.
“Hey. I’m sorry I didn’t notice or… I don’t know how I didn’t realise because thinking back on it you two are not subtle with the flirting.” Booth said sincerely.
“It’s ok. I get it. It isn’t like we were ever taught to talk about stuff like relationships.” You said quickly and glanced at Brennan who was fiddling with the radio in his car.
“Why don’t you and Angela join me… and Bones for dinner tonight? Or probably after the case is done?” Booth offered. You smiled, hugging him and agreeing, seeing how awkward talking to you about relationships was getting. You could tell he was trying to open up and felt pretty guilty for being so oblivious. You pulled apart and got in the truck, driving off ahead of Booth who followed behind in the SUV.

After putting the car into park, Wendell tries to take the keys from the ignition. But the little shaking of his hands proves to make this whole endeavor even more difficult. A gentle hand cups his, holding it steady and helping him with the task.
“Darling, if you are not ready, we don’t have to.” (Y/N) looks at him with soft eyes, sensing the distress Wendell is practically radiating like a heater. Still he shakes his head. “No, I’m ready. Really, it’s just that I feel like I’m meeting my girlfriends’ family for the first time. Which in some way, I do.” He laughs nervously and scratches his neck before losing his buckle.
A laugh erupts from the passenger’s seat. “You don’t. You know everyone, you work here, silly!” (Y/N) boops her boyfriend's nose before exiting the vehicle. Another smile spreads on her face upon seeing what feels like her second home since she is spending so much time there: The Jeffersonian Institute.
Both Wendell and (Y/N) work as “Squintern” there and happened to meet on a case a few months back. Quickly after realizing that this is the woman of his dreams, the blond asked her out and well, the rest is history.
In the beginning of their relationship the two decided to keep it on the low, wanting to figure out the way this is heading for themselves without the prying eyes of the other squinterns, snide comments by Dr. Brennan or the nagging from Angela as well as the awkward behavior Cam always puts on after obtaining information like this one. Also, Wendell is scared of Booth’s reaction, claiming his watchful eyes over them would burn the hairs in his back.
“Yeah I know, my little dove. But, they are practically our family and soon they will know the youngest of it are dating. Not that we are something like siblings- god no, this wasn’t what I wanted to imply. I just meant- I don’t know how to talk my way out of this,” he sheepishly looks at (Y/N), his face red as a tomato. In return, she kisses his cheek, rubbing a hand over his bicep in an affectionate manner.
“Don’t worry, Darling. They all will be happy for us, I mean either that or they don’t care at all. Both reactions are not bad for us.” But his troubled face still doesn’t vanish. “Honestly, I’m just scared of Booth.”
Again, this theme. Sensing your annoyance, Wendell quickly explains himself. “A few days ago, when I touched your shoulder while complimenting your work of reconstructing the skull, Booth watched us and had this ‘don’t touch my daughter again’ look on his face. And I have seen this in fathers of previous girls I was in relationships with, but none of them needed to pass a gun qualification regularly or are trained in a military level in what seems every single life aspect. I swear, he can snap me in two by just looking at me.”
(Y/N)’s lips leave an exasperated sigh. They discussed this topic over and over again. Wendell is more than sure that both Brennan and Booth adopted her as their unofficial child since they know her since she was a junior in high school and watched her grow up and supported her career as a forensic anthropologist from the beginning.
(Y/N) on the other hand feels like this is not true at all due to all the comments they make she feels like they are just people sharing a long friendship. Said comments are teasing, but Wendell and her are still working on the whole social cues thing together.
“Darling, you are imagining things. Just yesterday Seeley called me the single reason for getting gray hair after Jack and I blew up a little bit during an experiment.” He animatedly gestures his hands in her direction. “Exactly! This is something only a father figure say- wait. Hodgins and you blew up during an experiment! Why didn’t you tell me about that?!” His face immediately takes a look of new worry, a deeper one than the previous one. That was only about people’s opinion, but this look is about his girlfriend’s safety.
“I told you to be more careful when you conduct these with him! You know what- I’m gonna kill him for being this reckless all the time” this and many more things does Wendell grumble while the two of them make their way through security without any hitches.
Now it’s her turn to look sheepishly at him. “Look, I didn’t tell you not because I didn’t want to, I just forgot about it. And we are both fine! We only lost a few arm hairs and have some slight burns. We were already scolded by Cam, so you don’t need to lecture me too.”
But this doesn’t help Wendell’s mood either. “I will lecture you as long and as often as I see fit. It seems like the amount I already did wasn’t enough, because here you are, telling me about something like that as if you were talking about what you had for lunch. I need to be informed if you get injured. I need to make sure you are fine mentally, emotionally and physically. That’s part of the job description as your boyfriend. Show me the burns, please.”
While Wendell lectures (Y/N) and inspects her injuries they continue to walk towards the platform, not paying attention to who is close by. Until a voice cuts his rant off with a loud “BOYFRIEND?! OH MY GOD!” Coming from nobody less than Angela Montenegro herself.
The scream is loud enough that everyone comes out of their offices, throwing away any project they were working on. While (Y/N)’s face turns hot by all of the sudden attention, Wendell’s gets white as a ghost seeing Booth step out of Brennan’s office.
Unfazed by the couple’s expressions, Angela has still her gaze fixated on them. Wendell’s hand still clasps around (Y/N)’s wrist in order to deem the burns non life-threatening. “I knew it! I knew that you two are together! Jack, pay up!” A groan comes from the entomologist. “You just made me fifty bucks poorer, kids. I hope you are happy now.” He says with a sigh, getting his wallet out of his back pocket and hands a bill to the brunette. Her smile is unmatched.
“Is that true, Mr Bray? Are you having a relationship with Miss (Y/L/N)?” Brennan asks the now red faced man. Booth positions himself next to hir, his arms crossed in front of him with his face turning into an intimidating look.
His eyes are switching between his boss, her husband and his girlfriend. The last one gives him an encouraging smile. After taking a deep breath he gives her a nod paired with a smile of his own. He lets go of her wrist, instead threading his fingers through hers. “Yes,” he says, turning towards Temperance, “Miss (Y/L/N) and I are engaging in a relationship.”
She looks at him with a satisfied smile on her face. “Well then, I wish you two good luck. Also, (Y/N),” Brennan addresses her, ”I want you to remember what we have talked about.” Now it’s the young woman’s turn to look embarrassed. Still, she gives out a meekly “Yes, I do.”
Hoping that this whole ordeal is over now, the male turns back to the platform, where Cam already awaits her team. She has a warm look for the youngest between the group.
But he isn’t let off the hook that easily.
“Wendell, I got something in my car that I need help with”, Booth shouts for him, leaving no room for discussion. While most of the team gives him a look of terror and pity, (Y/N) flashes him a smile and a sublte thumbs up, thinking that Seeley really does need help with something.
The way to the garage is basked in an uncomfortable silence. Uncomfortable for Wendell at least, Booth is enjoying this obviously. After what feels like an eternity, he decides to break it.
“So, Wendell Bray. What do you think is the reason you are dating (Y/N)?” Startled by the sudden question, the young man gaps at the agent. He needs a second to collect himself again. “I- Agent Booth, we, I- ahem- I date your- (Y/N)! I date (Y/N) because I love her, Agent Booth.” Ok, maybe he isn’t as collected as he thought he is.
“Aha”, Seeley acknowledges, popping the trunk of his SUV open, “Isn’t love a pretty strong word?” Wendell watches him take a big plastic case out.
“It is, still I’m sure. I love (Y/N) and she loves me. We both are willing to make this relationship work. We know that our jobs are demanding and we both are dedicated to our careers. I think that’s why we understand each other so well and know exactly what the other one needs. I attend just as much to her needs as (Y/N) does to mine. I know love isn’t enough to keep a relationship alive, but it’s part of the foundation.” He looks up at the agent with nothing but honesty in his eyes. It makes Seeley sigh before popping the plastic case open.
Inside is some kind of rifle. After all, Wendell is not a weapon expert, so every gun with a long snout is a rifle to him. “This, my dear Mr Bray, is one of my specialties. If - I’m talking in an ‘if’, I can’t give you more - if you hurt (Y/N), I’ll follow you around with this one. You know, this kid is like a daughter to me and Bones, so you know what this talk is about. Except for, I won’t kill you. Injure? Yes, definitely. But not kill. I want you to live with the guilt of hurting one of the most innocent souls on this earth. You’ll never see this - me - coming. Understood?”
Booth’s expression should induce the biggest fear into Wendell he ever felt. Instead, a wave of great respect overcomes him. Now he knows that there are people caring about his girlfriend beyond a friendship level. There is a familial bond, people (Y/N) can and does rely on outside from him. “Understood and respected, Sir.” They shake hands, exchanging mutual respect.
“Good, now that this is settled, I wish you two the best,” He tells the young man while packing everything up again and closing the trunk. “You are kind of the best fit for her in a lab like that. God knows you are the only normal one, and I got a wife and a nearly-daughter in there. Let’s get back inside before they send the cops out, thinking I killed you. We should also meet up for a beer or something soon again, have a man to man talk. What do you think?”
As they enter the platform in a cheery manner, everyone looks at the pair with bulging eyeballs. Everyone except for (Y/N), who is just happy to see them getting along just the way they were before the announcement. After all, she is right.

„I'm glad this case is over." Angela sighed as you entered the Royal Diner. „Me too. I'm afraid of marionettes anyway, I don't need them in my job. Ugh..." you shivered by the thought of the poor person.
You gathered around the table your team always had when you would go to the diner. At this point, any other table would feel just very wrong. „Are Hodgins and Aubrey on their way?" Cam asked the group. „Mhm, I guess. Aubrey told me he'd wait up for Hodgins because they had to take some notes for the report." Booth answered her.
This was your favourite part of every case, even though it wasn't all of you each time. Sitting at the diner together, talking about the things that happened, but also personal things. These people quickly became your best friends. They welcomed you from the second you stepped foot into the Jeffersonian and integrated you into their group. Now that Aubrey was working with Booth at the FBI, it would be even better.
„What can I get you guys?" Joanne smiled at us.
„The usual please." Booth and Brennan ordered, Cam didn't want anything but water and so did Angela.
„A burger, fries and a salad please." you smiled. „Alright, I'll be back in a sec." Joanne wrote everything down and left your table. You could feel the eyes of the others on you, „You seem hungry, Y/N." Brennan laughed lightly.
You chuckled, „Oh, it's for Aubrey.". Cam frowned and made the typical expression she always did when she was confused. Angela on the other hand already seemed to know what's up but kept it for herself.
„There they are!" Booth greeted Hodgins and Aubrey when they entered the diner. „Sorry it took longer than expected. He didn't accept the words normal people use." Aubrey sarcastically commented.
„Actually, it is usually very important to use the correct technical terms." Brennan commented. „Thank you." Hodgins said.
You grinned at the interaction between them. It's always like that, and it's exactly what makes them so lovable. Aubrey has been with the team for about a month, but you never had the chance to really work together during a case, until now.
Angela slid her chair a bit to the side to make room for Aubrey next to you, totally on purpose, of course. Hodgins meanwhile sat down on her other side. Just in time for the two to sit down, Joanna came back with a plate for Brennan, apple cake for Booth and your order.
„Here you go, anything else you'd like?" she asked. „No, thanks, Joanna." Booth smiled, and she nodded.
Aubrey smiled at you when he saw the plates in front of him. „Thank you." His hand caressed your tight. „I wouldn't dare to not order when I know exactly what your mood is like when you're hungry." you chuckled. The others were already in conversation, so they didn't listen to what you and Aubrey talked about.
He took a big bite of his burger, which he could barely get into his mouth, and exhaled happily. "I love you." he told the burger, and you had to laugh softly.
The others looked at him laughing. Everyone knew Aubrey's love for food.
Booth raised an eyebrow, "How do you even get that thing in your mouth?". "Oh, it'll fit somehow." Aubrey mumbled, his mouth still full. Booth just shook his head, but everyone could see the slight smirk.
"I really hope we can finally do a proper experiment next time," Hodgins sighed. "I'm not going to even ask what you're hoping for." Cam laughed. Hodgins started, „You know, we haven't-„
Suddenly they all went quiet. You chewed the fry you stole from Aubrey's plate. „Everything okay?" you asked carefully, swallowing. Aubrey looked just as confused as you did, as he handed you another one. Everyone's eyes got even wider at that.
Finally, Booth said, „James Aubrey does not share his food.", „Nor does anyone know what he's even ordering, as much as he always eats." Hodgins added.
Brennan's gaze would've almost been uncomfortable if you didn't know her so well. You chuckled, „Oh.". „We're married." Aubrey laughed, and you grinned when you both raised your hands at the same time to show them the wedding rings.
Booth looked like something hit him, „That explains a lot." Cam commented enlightened. „As if none of you have noticed," Angela laughed, „You're all so smart but so blind at normal things sometimes.". „I must confess that I should have noticed it. Congratulations, by the way." Brennan admitted and smiled at the last part of her sentence. "Thank you." you giggled. "Wait, how long have you guys been married?" Booth asked.
"Almost four years." Aubrey said, cracking a grin at Booth's facial expression. "So that's what Caroline always meant." Booth quietly talked to himself.
You could picture Caroline giving Seeley a poke in the back of the head for being so slow on the uptake.
„We don't make a secret out of it, I guess it just never really came up." you chuckled.
„Well now we know." Cam laughed. "As long as you let us know then when you're planning on having a little Aubrey or a little Y/N, I can just about forgive you for this one," Angela joked, and everyone broke out laughing. "Promised." You joined the laughter as Aubrey intertwined his hand with yours under the table and smiled at you.

In the end I couldn't really tell you how we ended up in this situation, all battered up and in fear what the Bureau would say when they find out me and Lance let the perp go. But most of all I was afraid what Seeley would say when he saw the both of us. I got the shortest end of the stick, busted face and knuckles and my ribs were aching somthing fierce.
Fear in Lance's eyes only intensifies when Seeley's name pops up, trying to call me. “it's Seeley”
I hand Lance the phone so he could talk to him. “he'll know something is up if I talk to him” my voice was horse already and I was shaking from the resent beat up.
Lance gulped and took the phone to talk to Seeley while he drove through the city. “H-hey b-booth we got a situation” I sighed as Lance immediately cracked pressure. Do to the lack of music or sound in general in the car I could vaguely hear Seeley on the other side of the phone.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait a second. What’s going on, what the hell happened?” Seeley asked from the other side of the phone.
I quickly shook my head no at Lance as he continued to talk to Seeley through my phone. Lance gulped and continued to drive while talking to Seeley on the phone “this isn't really phone conversation material... Are you at your office?” Lance asked with a hint of nervousness.
There was silence on both ends of the phone, Lance glances over at me nervous as Seeley hesitates on the other side of the phone. “Yeah, I am. What are you talking about? And where the hell did you go? We were supposed to bring Fredrick Batmen in today”
Fredrick Batmen so that's this name, at least I know the name of the guy who put a couple of dense in me. I looked over at Lance, shaking my head. We weren't supposed go out by ourselves. We both only just got our license to carry a weapon when we assisted the FBI.
“umm...” Lance said looking at me quickly then back at the road. I threw my pounding head back on the head rest of the car as Lance continued to lose his cool.
“hang up the phone lance” I said softly so Seeley didn't hear me on his side of the phone.
“umm....” Lance said as Seeley spoke on the phone, he looked at me in a panic. Huh, I've never seen a psychologist lose their cool before.
I could hear Seeley getting frustrated on the other side of the phone “Hey, Sweets. Just tell me what the hell is going on?”
Lance took a deep breath and regained his composer “I'm almost the Bureau... I'll explain when I get there” he said through the phone to Seeley.
“No, no, no. Listen... you want to tell me what's going on and you want to tell me right now” Seeley says as bit louder, making the conversation clear to my ears.
“Umm...” Lance and I both prayed that Seeley didn't ask for me.
I could hear Seeley sigh in frustration on the other side of the phone “Come on, Sweets, you are starting to piss me off here.”
“This is something you don't want to hear on the phone and as a psychologist I should have the right to say on behalf of your temper and mental health” Lance thought he was gonna win this conversation I on the other hand had been best friends with Seeley for a long time and I knew Seeley doesn't give up especially if phycology gets thrown in.
“Yes... He definitely gonna listen now” I sighed as I wrapped a hankerchief tighter around my bloody nuckles. “we're doomed” I mumbled as I heard Seeley saying Lance shouldn't bring up phycology now. I thanked God when Lance got closer to the Bureau.
Seeley then started shouting at Lance, which was rare thing for him rase his voice at me or Lance. “you are making this worse! Just tell me what is going on right now!”
I slapped my forehead in frustration, as much as I cared for lance and he was indeed like a little brother he was being pretty stupid. “For Pete's sake” I sighed and weakly snatched the phone “Seeley! Hey buddy, like Lance said we're on our way and you making Lance nervous isn't helping the situation... I'm gonna hang up now and we'll fill you in when we get to your office”
“No, no, no. Don't hang up!” Seeley started, he then hesitates. “I know you are hiding something, I can tell by your tone. Just tell me what the hell is going on so I can stay calm”
“Just stay calm anyway” I said softly and hung up the phone before Seeley could protest anymore. I hung up the phone and looked at Lance “your terrible at lying, especially to Seeley” I sighed as Lance pulling into the Bureau's parking lot.
“sorry” Lance mumbles as he puts the car in park. I winced at the pain in my ribs when I tried to clime out of the car. I sighed and slouched back in the passenger seat, it felt like dozens of kitchen knives beening stabed into my side.
I terned to Lance with pain in my eyes “Help me will ya?” Lance quickly nodded and climed out of the car, racing to the passenger door. “easy, easy” Lance mumbles as he slowly helped me out of the car and supported me by puting on of my arms on his shoulder as we both slowly walked into the FBI building to Seeley's office.
Lance walked me to Seeley's office and enters without knocking. With the windows suronding the door of the office Seeley could see us limping in before we even entered the small room.
Seeley quickly shot up from his office chair and raced to the both of us “What the hell happened to you, n/n?” asked softly as he helped Lance set me down in the leather chair infront of his desk.
“Oh you know the usual” I winced when I tried to relax in the chair. “I'm gonna get the first-aid kik” Lance quickly said and left to get the supplies from his office.
Seeley leaned against his desk, standing in between the chair I was seeing in and his desk. Fear plastered his face as he stared down at me “what the hell happened to you?” you could tell he was trying not to freak out, which was an emotion he hated having.
Lance quickly came back to Seeley's office and handed the first-aid kit to Seeley. “thanks Sweets, I got this” he said motioning that he's clean up my cuts himself. Lance nodded and gently padded my shoulder before he left.
I sighed and looked a Seeley, I took a deep breath and started to explain everything. “me and Lance left to get the guy in custody, the Batmen dude... We got in a fight and he got away” I looked down at my busted knuckles as tears pooled my eyes, it stinged when I rubbed my hands together nervously “I'm sorry I let him get away” a tear fell done my cheek quicker then I lost my cool.
Seeley's eyes softened as he knelt infront of the chair I was setting in, he gently takes my bloodied hand in his massive ones. “it's okay” he whispered softly she wipe a splatter of blood off my chin. “Don't worry about that. I'm just glad you two are alright. We'll catch him another time. It's okay.”
I looked up as his soft eyes and let out a shaky breath. I could tell he was hiding his anger as he cleaned my cuts. I knew he wasn't mad at me but at the guy we've been chasing, I could see his jaw clinching as he cleaned up my face with the stuff from the first-aid kit “I'm sorry Seel” I mumbled again.
Seeley take's my chin and slowly lifts my head so we're looking at each other. “It. Is. Not. Your. Fault. You. Hear. Me?” he said, making tears prick my eyes once they met his brown ones.
Seeley softly smiled and wiped the tears runing down my face “It's going to be okay. I promise. How bad are you hurt?”
I didn't want to worry him anymore, so I shook my head and nervously chewed on my busted lip. Seeley gently pulled my bottom away from my teeth as I responded “not bad”
Seeley smirks softly but still gives me a 'yeah right' look “You have blood on your shirt, blood on your face, bruises on your face. I mean Lance is the psychologist, but I'm pretty sure that counts as bad” he said as he cleaned the cut on my forehead “Where else you hurt?” he asked again.
I tried to reassure him, but when I tried to adjust in the chair I winced when the sharp pain in my ribs came back. Out of instinct my hand fell to my waist trying to put pressure on it.
Seeley looked down as after he put a bandge on my forehead. “your rib? Is it your ribs?” he asked softly.
“Let me see” Seeley mumbled and gently lifted my shirt up just a little bit. I winced when my shirt and his fingers brushed up against it. I also couldn't help but blush when his large hands pushed my shirt up reveing my bruised body.
He sighed softly as his eyes held nothing but concern or disappointment. “yeah... you are hurt pretty bad” he look at me and all my injuries, then look down and away. You could see the red tint in his skin as the anger boiled in side him at. He was Really, Really, Angry now. Seeley sighed.
“I'm okay Seeley” I said in a serious tone, I knew he didn't believe me and honestly I didn't know if I believed me either.
“Iet me see your hands” he mumbled as he grabbed a fresh cotton ball and the bottle of alcohol. I wined softly as he cleaned my knuckles. “i know, I'm almost done” he whispered, he looked like he was trying to bottle up every negative emotion possible right now. I could only imagine what he'd do when he crosses paths with the perp.
After he cleaned my knuckles, he gently wrapped the up and then kiss my hand. I blushed at the small gesture. It felt different then the other times we've touched, I'd admit we're pretty touchy as best friends go and it was probably no secret to anyone that I had a crush on him, but I couldn't stop but melt when his lips touched me.
“Look at me, alright? Can you look at me?” Seeley asked, taking my bruised face in his hands”
“hm?” I asked, looking into his eyes.
I don't think either of us were prepared for what happened next. Seeley slowly lean in, with his hand on my cheek then kisses me on the lips softly. It took me by surprise, but once I registered what was happening I melted into the kiss, placing my bandage covered hand on his jaw as I gently deepen the kiss dispite the pain in my busted lip. I never wanted the kiss to end, but the sting in my lip made me pull apart gently.
Seeley look at me with a dopey smirk. “you don't know how long I've been waiting to do that” he whispered as he rested his forehead on mine, breathing hard. He looked at me, all bloody, swollen face, then kisses my lips again once more, softer than the first, but just as passionate. I leaned into the kiss My hands run through his hair.
“Your not gonna let me in on a case for a while, are you?” I joked as rested my forehead on his and I nuzzled my noise against his.
He shook his head, slightly smiling. “Never in a million years. I'm not letting you get hurt on my watch again.”
“guess that's what a squint gets for leaving that lab and doing FBI stuff” I joked.
Seeley chuckled and rolled his eyes. “anything eles hurting?” he asked softly as he rubbed my arms in a comforting way.
“I'm okay” I kissed his nose softly “you patched me up pretty good already” I smiled, but I couldn't hide the wince I made due to my ribs hurt after I shifted in his lap.
Seeley notices immediately. “What is it? Your ribs” he asked, I nodded softly. “It's just bruised... I'll put some ice on it or something when I get home” I said looking down.
Seeley takes my chin and our eyes locked. “y/n, I'm your best friend. So please, listen to me for a minute, okay? You hurt your ribs pretty bad today. You need to let the med techs look at you, please?” his eyes held so much plea and his voice was laced with pure desperation.
I sighed and rested my forehead on his. I kissed his lips softly and quickly. “you know I don't like doctors” I mumbled... He knew that, that's why I chose to come to him instead of the med clinic after I got beat up.
“know, n/n. I know, But It'll just a quick check-up. don't worry. Please?” he stared at me with brown puppy eyes as he softly held my face in my hands. I couldn't ignore his silently beg for me to get help at the clinic.
I rolled my eyes playfully. “I guarantee my ribs are just bruised... I'm a doctor too ya know”
“your a Forensic Entomologist... A bug girl” Seeley said in a serious tone as he helped me stand up, slowly and easy. “It's still a doctor though” my argument ended with a wince.
Seeley looks at me sternly for a moment. “Promise me, y/n, that you'll listen to the medical staff at the Bureau. Okay? Promise me.”
I sighed and looked at his brown eyes, I loved them so much. “promise....”
Seeley gently helped me walk to the door so I didn't irritate my ribs anymore. “aren't you the one who went to work with a screwed up back even though the doctor told you to stay home?” my joking tone turned into a wince when I held on to his bicep as I walked towrds the med clinic with him.
Seeley looked down and playfully rolled his eyes “Okay, you got me there... But, in my defense, I was going a little stir crazy being at home after a week.” I chuckle as he kiss me on the forehead to ease the pain.
“We're here, n/n. Let's get this over with and I'll take you home, okay?” Seeley mumbled as we exited the elevator that led us to the floor that had the med clinic.
the doctor came out of her office and smiled softly “Come on in Dr. Y/n Hodgins” she lead me and Seeley to one of the rooms, Seeley helped me up on one of the examination beds as the doctor looked at her clip board.
The doctor examined my ribs, I winced when she hit the wrong spot “a couple of your ribs are broken... But I'd like to take in x-ray” the doctor said. I looked over at Seeley and he looked angrier than before.
“I guess we'll get you an x-ray and some pain meds in ya” Seeley said. the doctor looked up and gave the both of us a soft expression.
“I'm afraid so” she looked up at Seeley “you'll have to wait in the waiting room unfortunately” the doctor told Seeley.
“okay, sure” Seeley said and then gently take my. “I'm gonna be right outside that door if you need me, okay?”
I nodded and Seeley kissed my forehead before going outside.
-------(Seeley's pov)-------
Before I exit the room, I smile at her. But then once I am out of the room, my expression turns serious as I sit down in the waiting room and anxiously await the results of her xray. I leaned forward in the chair and tapped my foot anxiously. The more I thought and tapped, the angrier I got. My jaw ticked and I covered my face with both of my hands.
“How is she?” Sweets asked, walking up to me with his hands in his pockets. I removed my hands and looked at him, I just now noticed he had a few cuts and bruise of his own, he wasn't as bad as y/n though.
“her ribs are broken, the doc is getting X-rays now.” I don't look up at Sweets as he looked just as worried. The panic in his eyes made me think about how I always thought she would choose Sweets inset of me. I never have thought she'd feel the same way I feel about her, that kiss changed everything and it couldn't have happened at a worser time.
I think Sweets could see the anger boiling inside me as I sat there. No amount of psychology could help the anger I was feeling. Sweets sighed, I knew he was hiding something. I looked up at him waiting for him to share whatever he was hiding. “they cought the guy... The guy that hurt y/n... Aubrey just brought him in” I immediately dart up from my seat, running on nothing but anger, Sweets grabed the sleeve of my suit jacket, pulling me back “don't do anything stupid” he said in serious tone. I didn't know why he said it, Sweets knew I would do it anyway.
I jerked my arm out of his grip and turned my back on him and head towrds the interrogation room. “I'm definitely gonna do something stupid” I mumbled as speed walked down the hallway.
I take a deep breath and walk into the interrogation room. I look up and see the guy, sitting across the table from me, with a huge smile on his face. He looks cocky, arrogant. I glare at him. And for a moment, I don't see what I can do to the guy. And then a smile slowly creeps across my face, He's not leaving this room. The interrogation has just begin.
“I'm getting tired of seeing you guys sniffing around my life” the guy says in a gruff tone, he gave me a creepy smirk. “expect for the girl... She was a cute little thing” he mocked as he referred to y/n. The man was twice her size, meaning he probably had no problem beating her. But that didn't mean he didn't look like hell, y/n put up one hell of a fight. His face was all busted up, worse than y/n's was and he was holding a gallon bag of ice on his groin.
When I look at the guy and I can barely contain my anger. I lean forward on the table and put my elbows on it. “Look, pal. Here's how it's gonna be. You hurt my partner, My best friend. You broke her ribs. I could care a less what you did before this. But you did this And for that, you're not gonna see the light of day ever again”
The guy just smirked and let out a laugh. “You think you scare me?” I glared at him, he just didn't understand the hole he dug himself in.
“You don't scare me, man” the guy said in a gruff voice, he leaned forward and smirked. “why get interrogated by you when I could get questioned by your cute little partner”
I scolded myself when the guy now knew y/n was my soft spot, my weakness and if he wanted to get under my skin he knew to bring her up. He knew what he did to her and he didn't care.
My jaw clintched with rage. “Hey. You shut your goddamn mouth when you speak about my partner. Do you understand?” I say, not breaking eye contact. The guy continues to smirk. He knew he was pushing my buttons and he was loving it. I can feel the anger boiling in my veins.
“She's got some fire in her and put up a good fight but it wasn't hard to get her to the ground” the guy chuckled darkly.
I stand up out of my chair. “you think you're funny, huh? I said for you to shut your goddamn mouth. I ask the question!” My hands clench into fists. I look like I am about to snap.
“If it means seeing her again I'll do it again” the guy leaned forward expressionless. “maybe next time I'll get my hand around her pretty little throat”
“I have had it.” I said threw my teeth, can't take it anymore. I grab the guy by the collar, pushing him against the wall and start to beat his face in. One, two, three punches directly to the nose and the jaw. I look into his eyes with rage and hatred. “That is for hurting my partner.”
Three more punches land on his face, making him fall to the chair in his own pool of blood. I stare at him. “That was for threatening to hurt her again.”
that's when Sweets and Bones came rushing in and separated me and the guy, I struggled in Sweets' arms trying to swing another punch towrds the guy “Booth stop” Sweets grunted as he and Bones tried to pull us apart.
I tried my hardest to get loose from Sweets' grip. “Let go of me! Let go of me!” I scream. But Sweets had a tight hold on me.
My anger had blinded me. I was out of control. “let's go” Sweets pushed me out of the interrogation room “your gonna get in a lot of trouble, you relize that?” Bones said. I didn't give a damn especially since it involved y/n.
“I don't care! I do NOT care right now. This guy was threatening to kill y/n!” I scream out, still fighting to break free from Sweet's grip “I would do it again in a heartbeat. You hear me?! You hear me?!”
“Booth, I understand your anger, but right now the best option is to calm down” Bones said calmly.
tears fall down my cheeks and anger bored in to my eyes as Sweets pushed me out of the interrogation room. My knuckles were bruised and bloody from the fight. But I didn't even notice them.
Sweets and Bones shared looks “Dr. Brennan, please tell Caroline what happened... Explain y/n was asulted and Booth acted strictly on self defense”
Bones immediately leaves the room as I continue trying to break free from Sweets “Please, Sweets. Just let me go. I don't care about the God-damned consequences. I just need to let this out. I just need to let my anger out.” I look angry but then I look sad and scared at the same time. I don't know what to feel at this point.
Sweets pushed me towards his office where he did most of his therapy sessions. I was bigger then Sweets but some how he manged to shove me into his office. “your girlfriend isn't goona like it when she leaves the med clinic and finds out you lost your FBI license because you beat a guy to death”
Sweets set down in his chair and pointed to a shelf with a bunch of books and fidget stuff. “break what you want...take your anger out”
I walk over to the shelf and grab a stress ball and a book. And then I come back to the chair. I sit down and start squeezing the stress ball. I don't say anything as I continued to squeeze the stress ball harder and harder. The stress ball is about to pop.
“she's not my girlfriend” I mumbled, as much as I wanted her to be it wasn't the time to bring it up... Even if we did kiss.
Sweets rested his cheek on his as he watches the stress ball pop in my hands “I think you better tell her that”
“what are you taking about?... What?” I asked confused as I grab another stress ball and squeeze it. I continue to squeeze the stress ball as hard as possible.
“only love makes you that crazy” Sweets replies. The stress ball popped in my head. “you said I could break stuff not get a therapy season” I said.
“Your not gonna get in trouble Booth. The guy as multiple accounts of asulting woman and now murder is on his track record... There's no fights it's our word against his” Sweet said.
I crushed another stress ball, this time I throw it on the ground in frustration. “he hurt y/n and you were making sure it never happens again... The guy already has life in prison for the murder case we were solving” Sweets says softly.
I throw my stress ball against the wall and I grab another one. I squeeze harder and harder. “But, you know I could've handled this differently” I squeeze the stress ball as hard as possible so much so that it hurts my hand. “I mean, I did not have to beat him up like that. He did not need my knuckles buried deep in his face. I could've shown restraint.” I grumbled.
“Booth, no one blames you”
“I should've handled it differently... I could've controlled my anger.” I squeeze the stress ball harder and harder to the point that my knuckles are bleeding. “I didn't do the right thing. I let my anger get the best of me” I am squeezing the stress ball so bad that I don't even realize the blood on my hand.
My phone suddenly rings, so I take out my phone and answer it. “Hey, y/n” I say, sounding worried and anxious. “Are you okay? How are you doing?”
“I'm alright, but I have to stay home for awhile because of my stupid rib... Are you okay? You sound weird” she asked through the phone worried.
“yeah, I am... What's up?”
“Can you come back to med clinic and get me please?” she asked softly, she still sounded worried though.
“Sure, no problem” I say through the phone. “Just let me finish up here and I will be right there.” I look over at Sweets. I feel guilty for taking my anger out.
“I'll be about... fifteen minutes. Okay?” I hang up the phone and immediately left Sweets office with a quick goodbye.
-------(1st pov)-------
I'm waiting for Seeley in the waiting room outside of the med clinic, as I am I stare at my pain meds with a bord expression.
“Hey n/n. How are you doing, sweetheart?” Seeley asked walking over to me slowly. I get up and wrap my arms around him, trying not to disturb my ribs. “I'm so happy to see you right now” Seeley mumbled against my shoulder.
“What happened to you?” I asked worried as I noticed his knuckles were all red and bruised. He quickly shook his head no. I gently left his arms and gave him a stern expression “what happened to your hands? And don't tell me nothing”
Seeley look down at his hands and then back up at me. “Well, I am not proud of this... But I beat up the guy that hurt you. You know, the one that broke your ribs”
I let out a deep breath and gave him a soft look. “oh Seeley” I looked at him with no judgment as I placed my bandaged covered hand over his cheek and rubbed it softly with my thumb.
Seeley nuzzles into my touch and take a deep breath and slowly open his eyes. “Look, n/n. I... I was wrong... I shouldn't have done that. I am not proud of it in any way. It just happened and I didn't think I could control it.” Seeley mumbles as tears pricked the corner of his eyes.
I quickly wipe away the tears as they fall, I kissed his forehead and wrap my arms around him, hoddling him tight not caring about my broken ribs. “Shh... It's okay” I whispered as I ran my fingers through his short hair.
“I love you” he blurts out. I leaned out of his arms and looked up into his eyes suprised. “I'm s-”
“I love you too” I whispered and pressed my lips to his, not caring if anyone saw us.

Booth x reader - careful
Tumblr media
Any change you want to write something with any character reacting to the reader getting hurt on some remains? Nothing serious but some protectiveness - @their-love 💜
Wondering the crime scene, you crouched down next to some debris, gently moving them and taking some photos.
“Anytning?” Hodgins asked.
“No, just debris.”
He nodded and made his way to the next section, and you did the same thing.
Looking at to map, you marked a bit off your map before stuffing it back into your bag, making your way to the next part.
You began to dig through it like all the others, and like every other time you couldn’t find anything so you went to the next lot.
While going through it you felt a sharp pain down your arm and pulled back with a cry of shock and pain.
“(Y/N)?!”
Hodgins came running over and you gripped your arm tightly with your hand, nodding your head towards the bones.
“Well I think I found our bones…” you grumbled.
“Yeah you did, I’ll let Doctor B know, are you alright?”
“Yeah, yeah just a flesh wound. I’ll get it looked at. Don’t tell Booth.”
Hodgins raised his hands and backed away with his phone in his hand.
You made your towards the van and began to go through some of your stuff, looking for the little medical kit you usually brought with you.
Sitting in the back of the van, you pulled the top part of your jumpsuit down, carefully cleaning the wound.
It stung, but you carried on. Then you grabbed a torch and shone it on the cut, trying to get an idea of how deep it was.
“(Y/N)!”
You pushed everything behind you, and you hide your arm behind you, watching the FBI agent running over.
He stopped in front of you and he looked you up and down.
“Where is it?”
“Where’s what?”
“Don’t play games with me, give me your arm.”
You held out your uninjured arm to him.
Booth narrowed his eyes at you and wiggled his fingers a little bit, giving you an expecting look.
“I swear (Y/N) give me your arm right now.” He warned.
You sighed, holding out your other arm and Booth carefully looked at it.
Sitting next to you in the van, he recleaned the whole wound, then grabbed some bandages, carefully but tightly wrapping them around your arm.
You turned away from him, unable to look at him and he said nothing at first.
Booth finished what he was down, and he rain his hand along it before he moved his hand to yours, lacing your fingers together.
“You told Hodgins not to tell me, seriously?”
“He’s such a rat…”
“You cut yourself on a bone, anything could’ve been on there (Y/N), seriously what were you thinking?!”
You pulled your hand back and turned away from him.
“It’s just a scratch booth, I know the risks, it’s been properly cleaned, and I’ll keep an eye on it.”
“That’s not the point. Did you get hurt anywhere else?”
You shook your head.
“Are you sure? Absolutely sure, because I can get Bones or Cam or somebody else to look you over. Maybe we should get you to a hospital.”
Sighing, you turned around and looked at him.
“Booth, I’m fine.”
“Just a second opinion, make sure you’re fully okay.”
“Booth.”
“It won’t even take long, they can do it at the lab, you can carry on working and if they find anything we go straight to the hospital.”
“Booth!”
He looked up at you.
“Hodgins already took a sample of my blood, they need it to rule out my DNA. He’s going to run all the tests needed.”
“Oh, so, you already thought about it.”
You laughed a little bit, nodding your head.
Reaching out you took his hand and he gave it a gentle squeeze.
“We’re a bunch of geniuses, of course we did.”
“Can we at least go to the lab and wait?”
“Will that make you feel better?”
“A little, but I’m not leaving you alone again, apparently you’re just a walking hazard let’s go.”
You grinned a little bit, letting him to you to his car so you could go back to the lab.
“You’re sure you’re okay?”
“Booth!”
“Alright! Sorry!”
Booth glanced at you, then to the bandage around your arm and he made a mental note to keep a very close eye on you for any changes.
And he was going to make sure your lab results were the first to be tested so he knew you really were okay

Off the Case
Tumblr media
I noticed something happening out of the corner of my eye. Hodgins and Booth were having a silent conversation amongst themselves and occasionally, would look over at my little set up at me. It was slightly distracting, and I had to keep telling myself to focus on the work in front of me and ignore it. It wasn’t like I could hear anything they were saying to each other anyway. I was a good forty feet away from them. But something told me that what they were talking about wasn’t anything good.
It wasn’t until Seeley walked up to me, though, with a sad and already guilt filled look on his face that I knew I really wasn’t going to like what he had to say. “Uh oh. I know that look.” I admitted as I turned to face him. “That’s your ‘I got something I got to tell you, but I know you may yell at me look’.”
“Because you just might… as well as Hodgins.” he said.
“I don’t see why I would unless you are pulling me off this case…” I said with a light-hearted tone but then I saw how he scrunched up as if I was about to cause him bodily harm. “You’re taking me off the case.” Booth nodded and I let out an aggravated sigh. “Do I dare ask why?”
“Angela managed to finish up the facial reconstruction on the victim and Hodgins recognized her.” Booth said as he sifted through the small pile of paperwork in his hand.
His statement confused me. “Seeley, just because Jack knows someone doesn’t mean I do too. You know that right?”
“I know that, YNN. But I know you know her too. Because with who it is, me and you both are off the case.” my best friend said as he pulled a printout of the facial reconstruction out of the pile. “I just thought you should know before Flynn came in here and broke it to you.” Booth then handed me the piece of paper and there I saw one of our closest childhood friends’ face staring back at me.
I gripped a hand to my desk to steady myself. “My god.” I gasped as I looked back up at the dark-haired man that stood in front of me. “Are we sure it’s Lily?” I questioned.
Booth nodded and gave me a saddened look. “Hodgins said that Angela was positive about it.”
“So, we’re both off this?”
“Yeah…” Seeley trailed. “I’m not too thrilled about it either. She doesn’t deserve to be dead. She damn sure doesn’t deserve to be laying on that table, nothing but bones and unrecognizable to the eye. But there’s nothing we can do. They’ll catch whoever did this to her, that I'm sure of but for now we need to be as far away from it as we can get.”
I nodded, my demeanor now drowned by sadness and frustration. I kept asking myself why it wasn’t my husband who broke this news to me and made Seeley do it. But that is something I would ask later. For now, I gathered my things and followed Booth out of the Jeffersonian. My best friend drove me home, where I instinctively opened my laptop and tried to get other work done to keep my mind off my friend who laid upon Brennan’s examination table nothing but bones, as Seeley had put it.
Tumblr media
It was right after nine o’clock that night when the front door to our home finally opened and Jack walked in carrying a bag of take out that he had said he was going to pick up on his way home. Though I was upset that he told Booth first instead of me, I couldn’t not talk to him throughout the day, he’s my husband for crying out loud. I mean I could but I'm not that type of person. It’s not like the news pissed me completely off coming from Seeley anyway. If it had that would have been a completely different story.
As he walked into the kitchen where I had set up shop, I refrained from asking him about anything they had found because I knew he wouldn’t be able to tell me anyway. It sucked but them the rules.
“Hey, baby.” Jack greeted me as he rounded the island and placed a gentle kiss upon my head. “How was the rest of your day?”
“It dragged. Barely got anything done. My mind kept drifting to Lily. You have no idea how many times I had to talk myself out of asking you if you had found anything every time my phone lit up with your name.” I confessed and finally closed the laptop that sat on the counter in front of me.
“I’m going to guess just about as many times as Booth actually did ask Brennan.” he stated as he started to pull everything from the takeout bag.
I let out a halfhearted laugh. “Yeah, well the man never did have the ability to be patient. To be honest neither did Lily.” The little bit of light that broke through the cracks was immediately covered up at the sound of her name rolling off my tongue. “Has Flynn got in touch with her parents yet?”
Jack shook his head. “No. Said that he was going to let Booth do it as his last piece of involvement in the case. Said it would be better coming from him anyway.”
I nodded in an understanding manner. “He’s probably right but there’s no way that was easy for Seeley.”
“I assume not.” My husband admitted before he took his seat next to me. “Just like I would assume you’re upset with me about telling him to tell you the same thing.”
“I was at first.” I admitted as I picked around at my food. “But after thinking about it throughout the day, it was better for Booth to tell me. The two of us grew up with her, you didn’t. He would know how I felt and be able to comfort me the way I needed to be.”
“Heard you haven’t shed a tear.” Jack said and looked over at me with a concerned expression. “But I can tell you have.”
“Yeah, well you know, if I cry then he cries, and I can't handle Seeley crying. I’ve done it, yes, but it doesn’t get easier." I confessed and took a bite of my food. “I waited until an hour after he left. The waterworks have flipped on and off all day.”
“That would be another explanation on why you said the day dragged.” he said and took a hold of my hand. “We’ll catch the asshole that did this to her. We’ll get the answers that you, Booth and her parents are probably all wondering. Whoever they are, we will get them, and make sure they pay for what they have done just like we do with every other bastard that makes it to where there is another person laying in our lab”
I nodded at his words, thankful to have him there for the reassurance of catching the person who killed one of my best friends. “Thank you, Jack” I said, and a singular tear ran down my face.
He was quick but still gentle to wipe it away with a sad smile. “You’re welcome, baby.”

Our unintelligent squint (Ep 1, part 1/?)
Tumblr media
Summary: the beginning of the pilot case, Zack chickens out speaking about the new intern.
Character pairings: Zack x reader, Booth x Brennan, Angela x Hodgins
Word count: 4.6k
Warnings: none
A/N: yay!! I told you I'd get to it! Btw, none of the sayings that don't have anything to do with y/n, or anything that goes to the case obviously don't belong to me.... I just find them necessary for my fic! If you haven't read my prologue, there is going to be a link at the bottom of the chapter. Enjoy!
[No one's pov]
It was late in the night. Zack and Dr. Brennan were still outside at the crime scene, Brennan looking over the remains, and Zack was shooting pictures. They felt in their hair a warm moist breeze blowing from the pond.
Dr. Brennan started speaking in her usual direct tone, "Remains are wrapped in four milled, flat poly-construction sheeting."
"PVC coated chicken wire," Zack added.
Brennan lifts the tarp, "weighted," She looks over the muddy remains, "That's why the body didn't surface during decomposition. The skeleton is complete but the skull is in fragments."
Booth rushes in to ask, "what can you tell me?"
"Not much," Brennan says, a little disappointed, "She was a young woman, probably between-," she takes a small breath, thinking over her best factual guess,"18 and 22, approximately 5'3, race unknown, delicate features."
"That's all?" Booth said, being sarcastic.
Brennan did a shrugging gesture with her hand. "Tennis player," she said.
"How do you get a pretty tennis player out of that yuck?" Booth sounded a little irritated.
"Epiphyses fusion gives age, pelvic bone shape gives sex…" Zack stated factually.
Brennan took over and said, looking over the spot on the body's shoulder, "Bursitis in the shoulder… Somebody this young, must be an athletic injury."
"when did she die?" Booth said wanting more facts. Also wanting to skip past her reasoning.
"Eeehhh," was the quick response.
"Eeehhh," was the even quicker, mocking response, "what does that even mean," he says in a frustrated manner.
Zack responds defensively toward Booth while simultaneously snapping another photo, "it means wait until our bug and slime guy takes a look," the light shines everywhere for a brief second, secretly flashing Booth in the eye.
"No clothing." Dr. Brennan notices.
"well you know, in my line of work, No clothes usually means a sex crime." Says Booth, acting like he knows the situation
And Dr. Brennan gives more insight, "In my line of work, it could also mean the victim favored natural fibers."
Zack speaks to Booth to demonstrate, making it an unknowing comeback, and walking around trying to get more angles, "your suit, for example, will outlast your bones by decades." Booth clearly couldn't tell, because he doesn't know this "squint," that Zack secretly had something on his mind. Brennan noticed, she's noticed it all that day… She just didn't know how to respond to it, so she focused on her work more intently, pretending not to notice.
"collect silt," Brennan orders to Zack, pushing herself up to her feet, "Three meters radius, to a depth of ten cm."
This time, right after taking another shot of the body, he looks at her anxiously and quickly. Before she gives Booth permission for the forensics team, she has to pause herself mid way, as he approaches closely to her.
"Mr. Addy, is there something that you need to say, because there's work to be done?" Brennan was startlingly frustrated, she clearly wanted things done quick and a hurry.
Zack gets in a whispering position, "you know about the new intern you wanted working beside me?"
"Yes, and I hired one. Miss y/n y/l/n. She starts tomorrow morning. I only did it because she was the only one you full heartedly recommended last year."
"Mm." Zack tried to hold in being squeamish, "I did. But are you completely sure of her qualifications for thi-"
"Are you saying you made a mistake in saying that she was the best interview you had? Because I gave you the assignment of hiring another intern with hopes that you would be the one to find one that matches all the qualifications yourself, it was also to test your true reasoning, and good decision making, for those are the type of people fit to work at the Jeffersonian. If you were being lazy, or unsure, means I was wrong, and you weren't really ready. Is this what you're trying to tell me?" Well, she's not one to beat around the bush.
Zack thought, swallowed the lump in his throat, and replied rather standoffishly, "No, Dr. Brennan. I have no doubt in Ms. y/l/n's intelligence, expertise, capabilities and ambitions. I just hope I was right , and didn't look over her resume or personal background too soon."
"Well, that's rather unlike you Mr. Addy. You need to adjust your self confidence to match your work." She turns and informs Booth that the forensic team can take the Plastic and chicken wire.
"Yes Dr. Brennan." Zack sighs, mainly to himself. Now that he pushed himself into it. He had to fix this. This means he must do his best to see y/n first thing , before anyone else gets the chance to. He has to, before it is made known what he hired into the Jeffersonian…
