I've said this about a previous fandom of mine, but it's been about a year since I first entered this one with Guizhong (originally on my multi for about a month), and it's been nothing short of my best and genuinely most peaceful experience in many years. Usually I see fandom problems arise well before the one-year mark, but here it's been quite calm and also, the closest to feeling that old 'community' concept again. We're all here to have a good time, we engage across the board pretty well, and it's just, it's been really nice. I struggled immensely to be on Tumblr for a good two years prior to coming here, despite the best efforts of friends, and I think it's simply because no fandom has quite felt like this one. None of them ever really succeeded in giving me what this one has. You guys are magnificent, never change.

𝐑𝐏 𝐏𝐄𝐓 𝐏𝐄𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐒: You've called salt into your life with this one, be ready: this trend of privately or publicly guilt-tripping people into interacting with them ('I guess no one's interested...' or 'guess I'll go then...') or even for interacting with duplicates of their muse instead. This should never be a thing I'll cut people like that out of my life and off my dashboard as quickly as I breathe for guilting, and I’ll always motivate people to do the same. There is nothing healthy, remotely positive or forgivable about that kind of behavior, but I see it happening very often still. Are people not interacting with you? Go after them with all the fire of motivation that you possess, and if you don’t have that? Then the muse you have before you may not the one for you. Honestly, I think it's just that if you have passion for your muse, then you won’t let yourself get demotivated, you won’t let things hold you back, because you’ll have a spirit that can’t really be quelled in any capacity. Are duplicates intimidating? Then either find your way to shy away from them or let that insecurity drive you; let it make you better, let it drive you to improve (mentally). I’m not saying anyone who experiences insecurity is a lesser writer, not by any means— but let it make you even better than you already are.

𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐒: I find myself drawn to specific elements or concepts within humanity (or in Guizhong's case, the exact opposite) that are either unusual among the status quo or intriguing.to me personally. I do know that I've always rather fiercely tried to avoid characters that are very reminiscent of me as an individual. Though on some level, there is usually a trait that I understand on a fundamental level in some way or another, the nature in which it's presented is usually simply is different, however. So for example with Yelan, I can talk about this inherent concept of loneliness that is incredibly different from what we consider to be the norm, I've understood the concept incredibly well throughout various parts of my life, but never in the way that it was presented with her whatsoever. And in terms of Guizhong, it's her curiosity to figure everything out, but as a god who by default, does not function in a similar capacity to mortals whatsoever, it's incredibly interesting (and different) for me to see. 𝐏𝐋𝐎𝐓𝐒 𝐎𝐑 𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐒: The former, but the latter usually will also either be based on a mentioned plot, or I'll turn it into a plot! 𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐑 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐒: I always inevitably end up getting wordy, but I can start shorter as to establish a sort of writing comfort and/or flow with the other person, especially if you're a new RP partner of mine. I have so very much to catch up on, my sincerest apologies, seriously— there's been mental madness going on behind the scenes, including this weekend. Please, let December be the month where normality starts and stays.

And on a more IC note, I often talk about solitude and isolation (and its origins in a very specific kind of loneliness) that is chosen and accepted, but I don't know if I ever talk about what that looks like exactly, and why, quite frankly, it's a little... for lack of a better word, concerning. Do me a favor, if you're in Genshin, turn your clock to nighttime, then go out into any of the cities, villages, camps, footholds and look up, no matter the nation you're in. How many characters are able to do that, and see a night sky that is nothing but void of any and all bounds and limitations? How many of them see that endless array of stars that illuminate it, and how many feel the cool fresh air that tickles their skin? For many, they can leave the four walls that house them, and experience that sight and sensation, because all of us to an extent, crave that. And honestly, so can Yelan— but she also, if not more often so, chooses to see something else. And the unusual concept of choosing that, is a driving force to my decisions for her and why I deem them so incredibly important: it's about the state of mind, it's about the mental that drives her.

On many days and nights especially, this is what she sees, and this is only if she doesn't descend further into the Chasm (which we know that she does), closer to the Abyss and to the Celestial nail itself that rests at its heart. And yes, it is beautiful in its own way, a pathway illuminated by the light of the moon and the nail, but it's also a cruel reminder of just how far the surface, and humans that live there (that she is by all accounts a part of, of course), are. But then, when she returns her gaze to the ground, her surroundings are void of light and dare I say, void of hope. The Chasm isn't just one of the places where you can get the closest to the Abyss, but it also consists of ruins of more than just one civilization. We see glimpses of Khaenri'ah (which we explore more closely through Dain's quest), but we know there is 'fauna' down there, even deeper, that is referenced as belonging to an even more ancient civilization that predated it. The Chasm is surrounded by reminders of death, ruin, and in that, it feels as if it's the direct foil of the world above it. The Chasm was almost the end of Liyue five-hundred years ago during the fall of Khaenri'ah, just as it had, apparently, once been to a civilization before it (please remember, the impact of the meteorite/fallen star that created the Chasm occurred roughly 6000 years ago), and its creatures wouldn't have stopped at its borders. The Chasm is the engulfing darkness in direct opposition to the light of life overhead, and the hope that humanity holds in the palms of its hands. It's dark, it's grim, and it's cold in more ways than one (See one, two, three, four).

And this place is a choice that Yelan makes to venture to and stay in, yes, yet calling it a choice is where it gets so interesting. Once upon a time, long before she got her vision, she was part of a team that surveyed the surroundings of the Chasm, and like many others before them that have descended into it, all members of this team, excluding her, died. The circumstances aren't clear, but following Yelan's line to Ning, I'm lead to believe that the Chasm's surroundings, which are all rather clearly threats to non-vision holders in specific (which Yelan also was at the time), were directly responsible for their demise. I'll note my hypothesis on what could have happened to them in a different post in the future, as I don't want to go far off-topic, but despite having likely witnessed what occurred to them, seeing the ruins of the Chasm, the threat of the Abyss and barely understanding what the Abyss even is, she continues to venture down there because the possibility of what could happen to the people of Liyue, is more important than her own existence and/or survival. And this bears even more weight following the events of Perilous Trail part 2, where she witnessed just how much the Chasm is capable of. Is this walking engima of a woman also drawn to equal or greater mystery than herself, much like a moth to a flame? I think that's part of it, but I definitely think it's infinitely more multi-layered.

Mostly, I think that this plays into the heart of what Fontaine has shown us that 'hydro' seems to represent: it's not merely a sense of responsibility (and/or justice) or selflessness, but a semblance of self-sacrifice either during the duration of one's life or at its end, either literally or figuratively. But keeping that in mind, what I really want to shine a spotlight on, is what kind of self-sacrifice seems to be the case with Yelan, and the way in which she seems to not just be at peace with it, but has truly accepted it almost as something akin to normality. And more importantly, note how this isn't normal behavior. An acceptance of solitude in such depressing surroundings is incredibly saddening, because it's not something that we ever crave by any means or should ever come to crave. Any regular individual, even most vision-holders surely, would find what she does insane to some extent. And yet, she walks the depths of the Chasm, of all places, with a similar routine as a Millelith guard patrols the outskirts of the harbor. Regardless of her clear reason for it— god, I have difficulty explaining what I'm trying to say; how does someone get to a point where they no longer do something so depressing out of necessity, but because it's... normal? That's her. The Chasm isn't... as eerie to her as it is to others, even if she knows better than most what these surroundings are; the Chasm it isn't as dangerous, even if she knows that it is and it's why she's there in the first place, to her as it is to others. Perhaps it's simply an acceptance that regardless of its dangers, that her fate lies in those depths as it did for her ancestors, that the Chasm's ruins will include her own legacy one day. But again, how does one come to terms with that? How do you come to make the decision that you will sacrifice yourself for others, especially when it means resigning yourself to a place like the Chasm, a place that is home to a pathway to the Abyss, which inherently holds the power to drive mortals to madness and death. Many wouldn't do this, or rather, many couldn't do this, not until they had no other choice and even then, think of Boyang, and even Bosacius, granted the latter had lost his mind by then. And that's where I think she's unique, because she technically has a choice, unlike individuals like Xiao whose... direct 'responsibility' and contract it is to do what he does. She could walk away tomorrow if she willed it, but she doesn't. Yes, responsibility plays into it, but the Chasm really hits differently when you tie it into that.

Now, I do need to note that I firmly stand against any believe that she a death wish or is thoroughly depressed. She isn't going down there over and over because she seeks an end to her life in some way or because she believes her life to be worthless. Quite the contrary, actually, and one could argue that the reasoning for that lies with her survivor's guilt. But all in all, before I get sidetracked again: Yelan embraces solitude to a rather extreme extent, and yet she doesn't seem to harbor a dissociation from the rest of humanity or dislike of it, but she does seem to place a firm line between non-allogenes and herself (and others who hold a vision). But what I mean with embracing solitude, is that while she is social, and she understands the laws and diplomacy of social behavior, she isn't one to always engage in it, simply because many don't seem to quite... share her headspace.

heizou the private investigator, who has his own agency but prefers to work underground— he has a soft-spot for helping people in need and doesn‘t charge money for it. whilst, the local police knows of him and always hires him for quite dangerous, complicated investigations if they were to fail to do their own deep examinations on the mission at hand. heizou is vastly proud of his profession and his skills are one of a kind, for some he might appear to act relatively arrogant but it's not that at all if you dare to look at it closely, he's confident in his abilities if anything and treasures his own well-groomed skills the most. fun fact: currently, alongside the police, heizou was investigating the mafia whose members certainly are known to you.

heizou's favorite music of choice: french music (i'm biased okay leave me alone) for example demain by PLK or derniere danse by indila.

scaramouche the mafia hitman, who too— prefers to work underground to escape any awkward encounters with people. he exceedingly loathes conversations, they make his blood boil, peculiarly with his peers and would rather gauge his own eyes out than attend any special meetings. although as such, his work was in a class by itself, as perfect as someone can be, the higher ups know that he was not dispensable in any way and a real treasure within their ranks. in scaramouche's eyes, there was nothing he cannot do nor was anything off limits, if there was a mission to be accomplished, he will take the challenge without batting an eye.

alhaitham the library overseer at your university who never talks to anyone, kind of a weirdo, yet he cannot possibly do so anyways since most of the times he greatly engages in yet another spellbinding book. for him, it's the perfect job; listen— he never needs to work overtime, duh, he's always home by the same, exact time and although some students can be quite loud and jarring to be around with, the library was a place of pure silence, which he greatly relishes in. but be cautious, if you dare to even raise a single octave of your voice, he will shoot you a death glare and wow, what a terrifying and overly handsome sight at once, you already know that many students only go to the library to admire the hidden view.

alhaitham's favorite music of choice: the man not only uses his headphones for music, but to block out outside noises which works just wonderfully. he prefers slower tunes, ones that do not disturb his reading. for example, ludovico einaudi or johann sebastian bach.

yelan the infamous casino manager, who makes her peers shiver in both sharp fear and terror. if she wants you to win, you will, otherwise she'll do what she does best, manipulate the game to her own benefits to slowly enchant you with her intense charms you simply cannot get enough of, only for you to slowly, agonizingly slow, slant down into the pits of literal hell and large debts. the pretty, dazzling woman has a business to run after all, you cannot be mad at her for that. yet, she is also reasonable and makes sure she isn't tainting the precious, not to mention flawless image of her casino.

yelan's favorite music of choice: no tears left to cry by ariana grande and diamonds by queen riri

dottore the mafia doctor, who works alongside scaramouche and has stitched countless of his wounds in the past. although the two of them absolutely loathe each other, no one can deny the outstanding skills dottore would display on a daily basis. whether it's open wounds, deep, dark bruises or broken bones, there was nothing he cannot heal. notwithstanding the fact that his practices might seem unethical to the outside perspective— especially if you take his habits of experimenting on his patients into consideration, yet, as long as he sews and bastes together the injured, his boss simply does not care and aids him in whatever he might be in need of.

dottere's favorite music of choice: torture sounds /for legal reasons this is a joke, or classical tunes for example the four seasons by vivaldi while he conducts his experiments on some patients he has.

kazuha the lifestyle blogger who takes you with him on every new adventure taken. his youtube channel had blown up since and had become one of the top on the entire platform. his posting schedule is all over the place though, he can go without uploading a new video in months which his subscribers do not mind, kazuha was a free spirit who goes with his own personal vibe, if he was in the mood to film something from his exciting adventures he'll do just that. expect loads of selfies with different animals from all around the world on his other social media, (ignore the weed in his hand) beautiful locations and deep talks on livestreams late at night.

kazuha's favorite music of choice: everything by tame impala, he also likes listening to indie artists and support them on his channel.

venti the worldwide music star who sells out every tour he does. the man was envied by the ones who shared his profession while utterly loved by the countless amount of fans he has. his voice acts like a charm, it's sharply mesmerizing and soothing to the ears, in some ways does it appear as if he's wholly hypnotizing the audience with his tunes. another fact, he writes all his songs himself and gets praised from every direction possible, while if you take everything into consideration of his life, venti was still very much humble and loved interacting with his fans or do interviews so they can get to know him better.

venti's favorite music of choice: loads of kpop music, for example stray kids or txt, but he does have a soft spot for classical music whenever he composes his own.

kaveh the architect who gets booked by the biggest, most flashing celebrities on the planet. fun fact, he was the one who constructed venti's mansion, since the latter only wanted the best of the best— while, quite frankly, there isn't anyone better than kaveh himself who could've adapted to venti's wished and made his home all the more personal and extravagant. in spite of the fact that he gets paid loads of money for his work, the sweet, talented architect tends to find himself broke almost all the time in his life. thankfully he had made a special friend whilst going out in town to drink a couple of his favorite beverages, here's to note that he never thought he'd become friends with a certain librarian.

kaveh's favorite music of choice: he likes taylor swift, ariana grande and tends to listen to music that is older, yet quite underrated. kaveh claims that the tracks on certain albums that get the least attention, are the best in his eyes.

Bathing with Mona is probably the funniest or one of the most magical ever, but she would rather finish with the bath then to do something else but if you want she doesn't mind showing your constellation and tell you about them, if you have one she will gladly tell you about it and maybe whisper how it's the prettiest constellation because it's yours, baths with Mona indeed involves bubbles she finds them magical and enjoyable.

Yelan mostly takes the bath and leaves not wanting to spend too much time in it, but if it involves you she doesn't mind spending a little bit longer in the bath with you washing each other's hair and body too if you are comfortable, she also doesn't mind showing you some dice tricks if you ask, bubbles sadly aren't involved unless you genuinely want them then she agree on it.

Honestly you are the royalty both ways, when she was acting as Focalor and when she's Furina she doesn't mind using her vision to make a little performance just for you to enjoy the bath and even asks her little water friends to help out for example bring the shampoo or other stuff and definitely wants to wash your hair, she doesn't mind if you do that too of course also there so many bubbles they practically everywhere!

Genuinely bathing in Watatsumi is amazing but with the divine priest?! That's even better especially since Kokomi doesn't mind making little fishes appear and give you kisses and then give you one too, baths with Kokomi are the prettiest with pearls around and some fishes with a lot of bubbles and lighten candles too, Kokomi geniually like baths they just relaxing.

Rosaria/Kaeya - undeniable trust and friendship turned romantic interest. though capable of forming a relationship, their occupation and circumstances prevent them from fully pursuing it. Even if all factors could ignite mutual interest, the fear of ruining the friendship they harbored would stand in the way. What's important in a lonesome city is the same stranger who is looking for the same comfort you seek. Frequent liar or not, he's quite the personality to have around.

Jean/Diluc - everyone says they are exes turned lovers however I view them as the failed chance at love. They are friends who knew each other since they were learning to walk type of friendship. The first love you never forget. If they were given the chance, they could say what they want to the other. "You look even better after you became a stranger to me, pretty woman"

Yelan/Ningguang - The what could've beens. similar to jealuc but in ninglan it's focus is more on the one-sided, unrequited type of love. (using Beiguang for this example) watching the one you love fall for someone you know she deserves hurts. It hurts because you know you could've been with her if not for your own issues. thankfully she will never know you love her since that love will die with you

Rosaria/Jean - oh god where do i begin with this. The "outcast" meets the city's beloved individual. For someone who feels they never belong, its confusing to have the city's hope make excuses to see you. Rosaria and Jean's relationship begins with jealousy due to the nun and the idol deaconess' relationship. What makes Barbara look at Rosaria the way Jean always wanted? Filled with concern and trust that only families have for one another. Giving that to a complete stranger is agonizing.

Lisa/Jean - coworkers to lovers <3. A workaholic learning the simplicities of life from the reliable, easygoing, gentle person. When she'd forget to take care of herself mentally, she'd be there. Unknowingly providing comfort with just her presence alone.

Beidou/Ningguang - Two people who rule and have a significant influence on the community. Bickering and arguing over the smallest things yet loving each other for the same reason. What makes these two so wonderful is the fact that they both witnessed each other overcome difficulties in their own manner. They both achieved goals that brought them together in some way. Competing with which one would make the other prouder.

Venti/Zhongli - centuries have gone and past, and yet home always had the same eyes and breeze. When it comes to gods, the only one they could consider as equal are the same immortals who suffer with them. Why does meeting each other again bring so much comfort and pain? How many friends did they watch come and go like sand through the wind? Thankfully, they can overcome these uncertainties together. Until they could no longer control the corrosion within them.

Surcrose/Rosaria - When your curiosity leads to people questioning your character, the person you gravitate towards is someone similar. Sucrose would have a lot on her mind and would desperately need someone to talk to. Rosaria always wanted to learn more about the world but never had the guts to say it out loud. The mutual silence between them could be a conversation. "I have something on my mind, but I have difficulties saying it" and "Take your time. No rush."

Kaeya/Albedo - Understanding your past from the product of the past can be an interesting combo. Kaeya and Albedo are two perspectives of the Khaenri’ahn existence. The truth is never black or white, in fact, the truth is always relative. Messing around with your coworker because of mutual origins grives a sense of comfort in the city where everyone knows everyone.

Ganyu/Keqing - coworker who has false impressions towards each other. A tender and careful love formed from the desire to protect their city. Patience is a virtue especially for Ganyu. However, with all the years she had lived, days with Keqing always felt like love personafied.

Xiao/Traveler - what cannot be may be. One's duties always hinder relationships, but there will always be someone stubborn enough to reach out. Someone once said that unnecessary suffering is not a proof of strength. Relying on others is difficult but if it's with the person they love, one could only hope that they're not a burden. Thankfully, they don't give a damn about your stubbornness and go out of their way to talk and spend time with you. Since you know that these times wouldn't last.

Ayaka/Yoimiya - The different lives we live shouldn't turn us into strangers. In a life where expectations are laid upon you, finding freedom and happiness incarnate is like grasping sunlight. Ayaka knows she has her duties but spending time with Yoimiya makes her forget the time. Grief and loss often isolate us from relationships (including socioeconomic circumstances). Thankfully the eternal shogun's antithesis stays by your side.

Itto/Sara - Our beliefs do not align, but if someone talks shit about the other. Someone will be getting punched or electrocuted. Being a Yokai in human society always leads to discrimination unless you are equipped with power and unimaginable influence. Seeing each other's most vulnerable sides in the most unexpected times always led to curiosity. Curiosity leading to interest. And interest leading to fondness.

Al Haitham/Kaveh - Unconventional ways of saying "i love you" almost always lead to someone's wrinkly forhead. If turning himself into Kaveh's personal screaming outlet would let him relax, Al haitham would gladly do it. What happened in the past has long gone, and what's left is to continue. Is it so difficult to let him love you?

Candace/Dehya - Every neighborhood child's first loves daring each other. Duty is always the priority. Traveling the world will come one day but not today. If that is someone's belief, then someone will bring the world to them. Even if it's small material gifts, its treasured dearly. Just make sure not to come home bruised and covered in wounds. Else a medicated scolding (and some kisses) would be perscribed by the village's resident guardian.

Abandoned by The Creator{Sagau}

Summery: After your friend decided to move on from genshin they give you their acc to play with.

Some context before reading!!: in this sagau the characters see their original owner of the acc as the creator

Gene & Warnings: angst(?), fluff, themes of abandonment, also I most likely misscharacterized some characters here and there!

After some more weeks they still haven't lost hope, they still waited in the same spot that they were left at. The creators mains started to panic wandering if they weren't enough for them, blaming themselves for what happened.

After a few days passed and still nothing, why isn't the creator coming back? Every single character was thinking why would they abandon them? We're they doing to low dmg? Weren't they good enough? Are they ok behind the screen? They couldn't think of any other reason why the creator was gone, at the 30th day of the creator not logging in the characters assumed that they were just burned out and were just busy, they'll come back eventually.

But atlas they logged in! But it wasn't the creator that logged in, but it was you, they have heard of you when the creator would talk to you or text you, your characters would visit their world and defeat bosses together once in a while, but where's the creator? Why are you here instead of the creator? Where is the creator in the first place? Has the creator abandoned them? Everything was so confusing but they still were obeying your commands (well not everyone) doing the daily commissions quests etc. Some of them rebelled against your wishes, like for example:

Whenever you'd pres W to walk they would disobey and use their still or their burst out of spite just to annoy you,

or when you'd cook they would never give you a bonus or their specialty,

or whenever you'd enchant a artifact they would purposely try to get the artifact to land on flat defense or hp and never the substat you want.

But this rebellion wouldn't last for that long, because eventually they would notice the amount of effort you are putting on them, from the way you pamper them with new artifacts, new weapons or even giving them some precious constellations, some of them even got a place specifically made for them in the teapot.

But not every main reacted the same way to this major change

✧°These characters accepted the fact that the creator won't return and made peace with it and in the end accepted you as their new creator, for now they are enjoying the luxuries that you are gifting them, but there's still a hint of yearning for their first creator:

Kokomi, Kazuha, Albedo, Candice, Thoma, Yungin, Nilou, Ningguang, Xiangling, Yanfei, Layla.

✧°These characters accepted the fact that the creator won't return but they are still way too emotionally attached the the creator but they try to move on and be thankful that they have someone else to take care of them but they are afraid to get too attached to you:

Diluc, Noelle, Kayea, Sucrose, Yaoyao, Yae Miko.

✧°At first they refused that the creator isn't coming back, always hoping that one day they'll be back, but after a long period of time they accept that the creator just won't come back. They may have accepted this fact and might accept the fact that now you are the creator and cherish you but their harts will belong to the first creator and nobody else:

Ayaka, Jean, Nahida, Alhaitham, Beidou, Thoma, Barbara.

✧°These characters need a bit more time to process this huge change, they are still confused and unsure whether not to trust you, will you abandon them like the creator did? They are not sure but give them some time and they will warm up eventually:

Itto, Shenhe, Ganyu, Tighnari, Bennett, Ei, Xingqiu, Yelan, Kuki Shinobu, Sara, Lisa.

✧°These characters wouldn't show any sign of sadness or confusion but they feel betrayed beyond words, and how dare the creator abandon them! Doesn't the creator have at least pity on them? after what they have been though? They would most likely side with the new creator out of spite just to "show" the first creator what they are missing because they "choose" to abandon them:

I’ve got a feeling that Lyney, Lynnette (and maybe Freminet) were designed early on in the game’s development since the level of detail on their outfits is surprisingly pleasing with a limited colour scheme too.

(….no yeah of course. The first two were in the Teyvat storyline preview video)

Wine-red, teal, and gold (edit: secondary colours), with black/white (edit: primary colours) and some muted secondary (edit: tertiary) colours to tie it together. It’s nice (maybe it’s just the type of colour scheme/ratio I like in character designs haha)

(I’d rather they have long pants though)

Now compare them to some other characters, whose designs seem cluttered with high contrast and excessive metallic details as per the Genshin Impact standard level of detail in character design. Quite unnecessary (and visually distracting) to have that much skin showing for Lisa, Yelan, and Shenhe (where am I supposed to look? The face? Arms? Thighs? Too much contrast.) Exactly why must their hips be so pronounced? Both Lisa and Yelan have only some cloth falling between their thighs, and Shenhe…

Shenhe doesn’t even have that much non-form-fitting clothing. A disciple of the Adeptus Cloud Retainer hailing from a clan of exorcists! Dressed like that? The red strings are supposed to be “binding/locking” her soul/bloodlust (it’s common in traditional Chinese culture to tie red ropes around supposedly possessed items—like vegetables—to prevent their “escape”) but their positions with this choice of outfit seem so much more suggestive than it should. Should she really train in the mountains dressed like that?

Neuvillette and Kaeya share some shapes for their upper body (large lapels, collar, asymmetrical hairstyle, something that fans out around shoulder parts, etc) but compared to the Fontainian trio above they still seem overdesigned.

I learned in a graphic design class once that, if you put too many different fonts together, then nothing stands out. In a similar way, too many details together can make the designs feel cluttered or distracting. I’m sure as fans of the game we get used to the level of detail in the character designs, but the moment the Fontainian trio got their key visuals released, I remembered just how effective simple outfit designs can be for this game.

Though, Dainsleif, Neuvillette, and Zhongli have rather similar shapes and value ratios in their outfits (highest contrast is face/chest area, tight sleeves with symmetrical coat/cape that splits out at the ends, broad shapes around shoulders pointing down, metallic accents compliment rest of colour temperature, etc)… Neuvillette is so pale that I think, if he was Black (with white/pale hair) for example, it’d allow more representations of dark-skinned people and his hair would contrast more, thus drawing attention to his face better.

Strange… Shenhe and Neuvillette both have white/silvery hair but their canon skin tones are even more pale… In the end, it’s quite boring to look at on some level

i am so, so tempted to develop a dark magical carnival or circus au with some of the genshin cast… not x reader necessarily, although you can imagine it that way if you want, but rather headcanons and short descriptions about their roles as performers in slightly uncanny acts.

for example, scaramouche is a marionette without a puppeteer; he’s made half of wood and moves jerkily like a puppet on strings, but nobody controls him.

there’s also mona, the illusionist who conjures up images from water and creates reflections and mirrors that make it seem like she’s everywhere and nowhere at once, disappearing from one end of the tent one second and appearing on the other side the next.

or you could go and see xiao’s act as leaps blindfolded across a tightrope, dodging flaming torches and balancing on his staff all the way. he never falls off the tightrope. ever. some say he has bird claws for feet, and hidden wings.

albedo is an option, too, turning caged doves into basilisks into harmless lizards, and even splitting himself into two copies of himself who work and talk and move in unison.

you can see baizhu, the contortionist who moves like a snake and has a forked tongue and slit pupils, whose assistant herself is a little frankenstein, who needs stitching up now and again so she doesn’t fall apart at the seams.

candace is known for hypnotism and psychosis, with a voice like smooth velvet. she sends people to sleep with her blue eye and reads their minds, sometimes even futures, with her gold eye, but never tells anyone just how much she’s seen.

they also have kokomi, the mermaid, who swims in a large, dark tank overgrown with algae, webbed fingers pressing against the glass to stare at passersby. sometimes she does tricks, like a dolphin, and is fed live fish as a reward.

yunjin sings and sends her audience into a trance. nilou is on the silks, twirling through the air like a sycamore seed. itto is a strongman with the horns of a demon, and has been said to ever shatter diamond. klee escapes a little cage before the bomb in there with her detonates. kazuha plays music on leaves and throws them like knives, pinning audience members to a board by the threads of their clothes. barbara mimes, and climbs invisible ladders high into the air. they say her voice was stolen from her.

yae miko organises the events and runs the carnival. yelan makes sure those who visit neither steal nor smuggle; those who do are never seen again. sometimes strange howls can be heard from cyno’s tent in the dark hours before dawn, after all the performances are over.

so come over, buy a ticket! visit the carnival tonight, because you won’t see the likes of it again! (we do not take responsibility for any missing persons or injuries that occur throughout the performances.)

Honestly the way you explain “how to build” (can’t think of a better way to describe it) is so much easier to follow like, What dendro reaction needs what when building. Every guide I find explains it in such a confusing manner

thank you, i enjoy infodumping about genshin builds\combat, feel free to ask if you want me to explain smth <3 tho i dont think i even explained dendro reactions on that post, bc it was mostly focused on specific question of EM on dendro traveler. overall for dendro reactions:

hyperbloom: dendro and hydro stats don't matter, what matters is producing as much seeds as possible, which means having consistent and fast application of the element. more seeds = more hyperblooms = bigger damage. what matters for hyperbloom damage is having as much EM on electro as possible, preferably around 900-1000, AND electro who can trigger seeds consistently, like raiden or kuki. like, beidou will not trigger seeds at all, fischl will miss most of them, so they won't work. There should be at least one character on deepwood set in hyperbloom.

aggravate: dendro stats don't matter, you just need consistent application off-field, bc dendro is just there to let electro dps trigger aggravate, which amplifies electro damage. but someone like nahida can use offensive build, bc she can apply dendro off-field and do decent spread damage too. Electro carry needs BOTH EM and attack, and crit build. Attack is more important, but get at least about 200 EM. example of aggravate team: keqing, kazuha (for electro buff), fischl, yao yao. yao yao here doesn't need deepwood set, bc she's doing no damage herself

burgeon works basically same as hyperbloom, except it's your pyro who should be able to consistently trigger seeds and be built on full EM.

spread - electro stats don't matter, but if you have off-field electro sub dps like fischl, then they should be on aggravate build. if its healer like kuki, then it doesn't matter. Spread carries - Alhaitham, Nahida, Tighnari, - need both EM and attack, but prioritize EM sands. Preferably should have at least 300-400 EM. Example: Alhaitham crit build with EM and attack, kuki as healer, nahida as sub dps build crit + EM, fischl for additional aggravate dmg. In spread team, at least one dendro should be on Deepwod set, usually its sub dps or healer like yao yao.

You can combine these reactions into teams. As I said, dendro stats don't matter for hyperbloom, which is why Alhaitham is so strong, - bc he can be hyperbloom driver WHILE on crit dps spread build, so you get both full hyperbloom damage and his personal spread damage. Electro carries can't really do that as efficiently, bc again, hyperbloom wants 1000EM and they'd need to sacrifice crit build for triple EM build for hyperbloom, or get hyperblooms of twice less damage. It still works, its called "quickbloom", but its just less damage than spread carry + hyperbloom.

bloom is whole other can of worms. for bloom it matters who triggers blooms - this character should be built full EM. For example, on a team of nilou, yelan, XQ, nahida, enemy will always be covered in hydro, so all hydro stats don't matter, they can run dps builds, bc Nahida as sole dendro will be on field triggering blooms and she should be on full EM. In a team of nilou, nahida, yao yao, kokomi, nahida and yao yao will basically always keep dendro aura on enemies, so kokomi will be on field, triggering blooms and she should be the one on full EM build. Bloom doesnt work with other dendro reactions, bc seeds will be stolen.

𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄: Throughout Tumblr? Joining the Genshin RPC, actually. I've said this about a previous fandom of mine, but it's been about a year since I first entered this one with Guizhong (originally on my multi for about a month), and it's been nothing short of my best and genuinely most peaceful experience in many years. Usually I see fandom problems arise well before the one-year mark, but here it's been quite calm and also, the closest to feeling that old 'community' concept again. We're all here to have a good time, we engage across the board pretty well, and it's just, it's been really nice. I struggled immensely to be on Tumblr for a good two years prior to coming here, despite the best efforts of friends, and I think it's simply because no fandom has quite felt like this one. None of them ever really succeeded in giving me what this one has. You guys are magnificent, never change.

𝐑𝐏 𝐏𝐄𝐓 𝐏𝐄𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐒: You've called salt into your life with this one, be ready: this trend of privately or publicly guilt-tripping people into interacting with them ('I guess no one's interested...' or 'guess I'll go then...') or even for interacting with duplicates of their muse instead. This should never be a thing I'll cut people like that out of my life and off my dashboard as quickly as I breathe for guilting, and I’ll always motivate people to do the same. There is nothing healthy, remotely positive or forgivable about that kind of behavior, but I see it happening very often still. Are people not interacting with you? Go after them with all the fire of motivation that you possess, and if you don’t have that? Then the muse you have before you may not the one for you. Honestly, I think it's just that if you have passion for your muse, then you won’t let yourself get demotivated, you won’t let things hold you back, because you’ll have a spirit that can’t really be quelled in any capacity. Are duplicates intimidating? Then either find your way to shy away from them or let that insecurity drive you; let it make you better, let it drive you to improve (mentally). I’m not saying anyone who experiences insecurity is a lesser writer, not by any means— but let it make you even better than you already are.

𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐂����𝐒: I find myself drawn to specific elements or concepts within humanity (or in Guizhong's case, the exact opposite) that are either unusual among the status quo or intriguing.to me personally. I do know that I've always rather fiercely tried to avoid characters that are very reminiscent of me as an individual. Though on some level, there is usually a trait that I understand on a fundamental level in some way or another, the nature in which it's presented is usually simply is different, however. So for example with Yelan, I can talk about this inherent concept of loneliness that is incredibly different from what we consider to be the norm, I've understood the concept incredibly well throughout various parts of my life, but never in the way that it was presented with her whatsoever. And in terms of Guizhong, it's her curiosity to figure everything out, but as a god who by default, does not function in a similar capacity to mortals whatsoever, it's incredibly interesting (and different) for me to see. 𝐏𝐋𝐎𝐓𝐒 𝐎𝐑 𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐒: The former, but the latter usually will also either be based on a mentioned plot, or I'll turn it into a plot! 𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐑 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐒: I always inevitably end up getting wordy, but I can start shorter as to establish a sort of writing comfort and/or flow with the other person, especially if you're a new RP partner of mine. I tried my best to research it all! But I will intentionally write some of the "monsters" as inacurate (for example Jean won't be headless all the time, she just can take off her head)
