the fact that jess shakes his head in disappointment while knowing it’s the same girl that missed her mother graduation to see him in his hometown is insane to me. logan told her to do something stupid, something fun, something bad for her, but we are talking about the girl that went to nyc by herself to see a guy and she wasn’t even sure he’d be there!!! jess knows it, he knows her.

NO YOU'RE SO RIGHT!!! Like, here Logan is, giving her this speech about being brave and doing scary things or whatever, when he doesn't even know her. She jumped on a bus to New York to see a boy with absolutely zero plan, she chose a different school than she'd planned her whole life, she was student body vice president even though she really didn't want to be, never backed down from whatever challenge Paris threw at her at the Chilton paper (parking lot paving? And interviewing her mom's ex fiancé?? I mean come on, that was NOT easy), she navigated an incredibly challenging extended family (I mean, her mom and grandparents constantly fight and still Rory managed to have a relationship with everyone, and her dad who was mostly absent from her life has another daughter and still Rory was there for the kid's birth), and those are just the things I can think of off the top of my head. She's done so much that Logan doesn't know about because he never cared enough to ask but somehow in one conversation has her questioning everything about herself.

Meanwhile Jess knows just how very Not Rory the girl in front of him is just by taking one look at her. Knows she is lost and confused and scared after one conversation. He's the only one she has ever let her guard down around, felt safe enough to be truly herself, because he never tried to change her. And because of that, he knows her.

I was possessed with a need to draw Molly and Bella's (true) first meeting as Wee Baby Bellas at a reunion, being FAR too cute for their own good! Neither of them remember this moment by the time they meet again in college, btw. (Beca goes to the bi-annual Bella Get-Togethers pretty regularly but she and Jesse decided pretty early on that it wasn't worth the effort to tow the whole family across the country for a single weekend, especially after the twins were born, so Molly hasn't been to one since she was a baby. Bella's been to quite a few, but she and Stacie live much closer to the usual meetup spot, plus it's just the two of them so they're a bit freer to travel.) And yes, that is a Bella scarf that they're about to play tug of war with, tho whose scarf specifically is anyone's guess considering there's over a hundred women there. 🤷

Alrighty! It's been a hot minute since i did one of these but luckily I've actually got a wip i can use for this! (You'd be surprised at how infrequently that's the case 😅.) Thanks for the tag, @erinsworld ! I hope you're, uh... Ready for a rarepair fic for a completely different fandom 😂

The last* Line--written for chapter 2 of "these hands had to let it go free and--(This Love came back to me)":

*-yeah so this is actually the last several lines cause. Well. You can see why a single word/pair of names doesn't exactly make for a compelling final line without, ya know, context. So. Context.

For a more in-depth discussion of what this fic is (vaguely) about, + some relevant art, check out this post i made announcing chapter 1! But the tl;Dr is that this is a Pitch Perfect fanfic exploring the nature of love, relationships, and what "inevitable" really means... Through the lense of a rarepair 😅. And not only that, it is to date the longest (single story) fic I've ever written (currently clocking in at 20,200 words total between both chapters--and im nowhere close to finishing chapter 2) as well as, quite possibly, the queerest fic I've written in terms of themes (the Brady verse was queer by the nature of it centering around a gay couple and their children, plus the handful of other queer relationships around them, but it's more of a family narrative than it is a truly queer one; in contrast the ideas on love explored in this fic are very queer, as are... Just about every character i mention, no matter what canon says about them). It's a doozy! I'm quite proud of it so far tho 😁.
