Malleus x fem!reader (platonic)

Summary

As a kid, Malleus had no parental figure outside of his grandmother. When at times she was too busy as queen, he found comfort in the embrace of one of his Royal guards, who happened to be Lilia’s lover.

You hum a nameless tune whilst you help Malleus get ready for the day. You button up his shirt, taking careful consideration to not wrinkle the fabric. You slip a black sock on each foot and hook a pair of suspenders to his shorts. Malleus watches, being unusually quiet, as your dainty fingers delicately tie his bow tie around his neck.

“(Name)?”

“Yes, my prince?”

“What is that song you’re humming?”

You offer a smile. Some of Malleus’s black locs fall over his face, which you carefully slick back out his vision. You straighten the bow, pulling the entire outfit together in a cute, yet poised outfit for the heir of Briar Valley.

“Hm, it’s a song I heard so long ago that I forgot the words to it,” you say. “I can only remember the tune, but it was very special to me.”

“If it was so special to you, then why did you forget it?” Malleus asked innocently.

“I’m old my dear prince,” you chuckle. “Sometimes, we adults become forgetful as we age.”

“Oh…” Malleus pouts. You tilt your head in confusion, concerned by his sudden mood switch. “Does that mean, you’ll one day forget about me too?”

“My prince…” You kneel back down to his height and take his small hands into your own. You caress his palm with your thumb, a small yet comforting gesture. “There’s nothing in this world that could make me forget about you. You’re that special to me.”

“You won’t forget me even as you grow older?” Malleus asked hopefully.

“Not even after the day I die. I promise you that, Malleus.”

Malleus hugs you. The sudden force almost threw you off balance. Once steady, you reciprocate the gesture. His grip tightens, refusing to let go. For a while, you hold him, providing the warmth and security he needed.

Malleus never knew his parents. You vaguely remember them yourself, so you weren’t much help in educating him on them. Not like it really mattered to him. He had his grandmother, whom he adored. But with how busy Her Majesty was as queen, she couldn’t always spend time with him in the way she wanted. The next closest maternal figure he had was you, and Lilia could be considered a paternal model. Between the two of you, you practically raised Malleus. You witnessed his first steps. Comforted him during each nightmare, and even taught him bits of magic.

No matter how old you got, Malleus would always have a soft spot in your heart for he was the child you and Lilia could never have.

Some years ago

For centuries, the fae and human race clashed. The two races had difficulties coexisting due to the imbalance of power. The fae, naturally gifted with magic, taught their skills to the weaker humans. As humans strengthened, they turned on their allies, and war broke out the battle for dominance.

Malleus’s grandmother, Her Majesty Queen Malefica attempted to forge peace between the two races, but it was a tedious process that often resulted in more fighting than compromise. You and Lilia were top commanders in the army, and often witnessed firsthand the treacherous outcomes of failed negotiations. Fighting between fae and human. Magic used carelessly that caused more destruction thad good. The loss of lives, some of your closest comrades, and others, innocent bystanders. The worst of them all: yours and Lilia’s unborn child.

“Lady Y/n? Can you hear me? Lady Y/n!”

You awake with a start. Gasps for air quickly turned into a pained wince. You recognize the medical wing by its ancient supplies and alcoholic scent. However, everything is hazy. And your body feels like it’s on fire, particularly in the abdomen region.

“My lady, are you all right?” The doctor asked. “How many fingers am I holding up?”

“Four?” You say confused. You grip your head feeling the headache coming on. “What happened?”

The doctor frowned, looking almost guilty. “Im sorry my lady but-“

Your heart sank. It started to return to you. The skirmish between Briar Valley and the Land of Heroes. They surprisingly had stronger mages and warriors than your troops anticipated. While you had more numbers, you were slowly forced to retreat when one of the mages used illegal transformation magic. Briar Valley’s Queen had a unique magic that allowed her to turn into a dragon. This mage used a phony knockoff spell that not only killed him and several of his comrades but many of your allies.

You remembered trying to save one of the younger cadets. In the process you were wounded. Your defense spell was overpowered but the enemy mage’s temporarily boosted magic. The flame attack burned through the skin and seared the lining of your stomach and parts of your uterus.

“I’m sorry to tell you this Lady Y/n, but you were six weeks along. Your uterus was so badly damaged in the attack that there was nothing I could do magic wise to save your child. I’m so sorry.”

You heart stopped in that moment.

You were pregnant?

With Lilia’s child?

You didn’t know. If you had did you never would’ve foolishly took to the battle field. Tears prickled your eyes and you felt yourself begin to hyperventilate. The heart monitor started beeping.

“Lady Y/n? Please calm yourself!” But the doctor’s words fell on deaf ears.

You were pregnant. You and Lilia were gonna be parents. And now that future was stripped away from you both for good.

“(Name)?” Malleus calls, tugging on your sleeve. You snap back into reality becoming aware of your surroundings. The concerned prince stares at you, green eyes wide with worry.

“I’m sorry my prince, I seemed to have zone out,” you chuckled. “Shall we go get breakfast?”

“Can we get ice cream?” He asks hopefully. Your eye twitches, buy your do your best to hide your irritation. You swear, you regret the day Lilia got him hooked on it.

“Maybe later,” you say with a soft smile. “How about some pancakes?”

Luckily, the young child’s eyes sparkle nonetheless. “Yay! Pancakes!” He raises his arms to be picked up, which you do without a second thought.

As you walk down the long halls to the kitchen, the prince excitedly babbles, talking about all the things he wanted to do with you for the day, including taking a walk through the gardens, visiting the gargoyle statues by the palace entrance, and wanting to go to the town. You just smile and nod along, not quite sure how to fulfill all his requests in a singular day. After all, you had other responsibilities to handle that you usually took care of when Malleus went down for a nap, one being filling out some of the military reports.

You weren’t as active in the military as you used to be. But, you supposed the fighting spirit never died and you wanted to help out the best you could despite what happened in the best. You never stepped foot on the actual field since then, but you will still train recruits from time to time and it was best you handled any paperwork instead of leaving it to Lilia. He didn’t have your patience to fill out several page reports, and if Her Majesty wanted anything to be legible, let alone done, it was best to let you handle the tedious tasks.

Once in the kitchen, you begin gathering the ingredients to begin breakfast. Usually, Malleus wanders off but today, he was insistent on helping you. Which you didn’t mind.

“Ok, just add a cup of flour into that bowl,” you instruct. Malleus nodded. He holds the measuring cup with two hands, intently focusing on the bowl. He tilts the cup over, but the flour was packed into the cup and didn’t come out right away. Malleus wore a confused look and tapped the bottom a little too hard. The flour falls out in a clump, kicking up a cloud of white dust that covers his face. He blinked a few times in confusion.

You snicker, trying to bite back your laughter. Malleus pouts and looks to be on the verge of tears. “Now now, no need for the waterworks,” you say, taking a wet towel to wipe his face. “What’s baking without a little mess?”

“You’re not mad?” Malleus whimpers, rubbing his eyes.

“Mad? Least you got majority in the bowl!” You scoff. “Lilia couldn’t even do that even if I did it for him.”

You loved your husband. You really did. But cooking, baking or anything really involving being in the kitchen was just not his forte. He had no affinity for it at all. It made you wonder how in the hell did he survive centuries on his own before you two got together. Lilia couldn’t even make a scrambled egg properly. Last time he did, it was simultaneously burnt and purple.

“Lilia really can’t cook, huh?” Malleus said in between giggles.

“Not even a little, so it’s my job to make sure you don’t end up like him.” You ruffle Malleus’s hair before picking up a whisk and giving it to him. “Come now. You only grow if you learn from your mistakes.”

It took longer than usual, but you and Malleus finished the batter. You were patient with the boy, letting him take his time measuring out ingredients and only guiding him slightly when it came to storing things in. You only took back over when it came to using the stove, because he was still a little too young to work with the heated device.

In the end, he was quite proud of himself when the finished product came out a crisp golden brown.

“It’s so good! Do you think grandma would like some?” Malleus asked as he shoveled more food into his mouth. You smile softly.

“I’m sure Her Majesty would greatly appreciate your sentiment.”

You two were enjoying each other’s presence and the calmness of the morning. The skyline was an ombré of oranges. Your tea had finally cooled off enough for it to not burn your tongue. Although Malleus was now sticky from syrup, he nearly cleaned his plate with no complaints.

That calmness was soon interrupted by a frantic servant running into the dining room.

“Lady (name)! Lady (name)!”

Her sudden entrance startled you and you spilt a bit of tea on to your shirt. “Dear, what’s the commotion so early in the day?” You ask, trying to wipe the stain.

“I’m sorry, my lady, but Lord Vanrouge returned in a frantic haste. He told me he needed your presence immediately!”

Your heart skipped a quick beat. “I apologize, but please watch the prince for me!” Without a second thought you teleported away.

Malleus stared, mouth slightly agape, at your now empty seat. Tears began to pool in his green eyes. “(Name)….”

You soon arrive at your destination: the infirmary. You and Lilia had a special link that you both created once you were finally married. The link allowed you both to transport to the other in an instant regardless of where they were. It took a lot of magic to enact the seal and couldn’t be broken. You quite literally threatened Lilia with his life to don’t do anything to betray your trust in the relationship. The bond was about as sacred as the wedding band on your finger.

Never mind that.

Your current concern was your husband that was pacing the room while a few doctors scrambled around the room.

“Lilia!”

Lilia perked up at your call. He quickly rushed to you and grabbed your hands. “Dearie, thank goodness you’re here!”

“Whatever is the matter?” You brush Lilia’s bangs out of his face. He looked clearly distressed and their was a bit of blood trickling down his temple from an open wound. “You’re hurt!”

“Never mind me. Come here-“

He led you urgently too where the doctors were gathered: a small bassinet where a small infant lay. The baby had pale skin that was clearly flushed red with fever. They also had silvery white hair and the clothes were by no means suitable for a child that small. They were dirty, ripped and exposed open abrasions that who knew how old they were. You gasp.

“Oh my god, Lilia! You stole a child?!”

“No! What do you take me for?!” Lilia exclaimed. “I found this little one alone in an abandoned cabin on my excursion. He was in bad shape, but I don’t know much about caring for a human child. With your medical knowledge and experience, I figured you were the best to call.”

You trace a finger around the baby’s ears which you notice were not pointed like fae’s. The baby cringed and then began to wail. You take the stethoscope from the doctor and then look to your husband.

“Let me see what I can do.”

Lilia placed a kiss on your temple. “Thank you, dearie.”

After a thorough check up as well as treating the baby’s injuries, you thankfully found nothing too serious. He had early symptoms of pneumonia that were luckily caught soon enough to begin some treatment. Other than that, the baby just had signs of exhaustion and hunger.

Once you had the child bathed, you had Lilia bring some of Malleus’s old baby clothes that didn’t fit anymore. You swaddled the infant tightly and held him close against your chest protectively. He was a heavy sleeper, only briefly opening his eyes periodically to showcase a stunning set of violet irises.

“Do you think this child’s parents are looking for him?” You ask Lilia, who sits on a nearby chair with a heavy sigh.

“I’m not sure. There wasn’t anyone for miles. I think the poor fella’s been abandoned.”

Your heart aches. You wonder who would be so heartless to leave a baby, let alone a child, by themselves to get sick and possibly die. It angered you and at the same time, made you extremely sad.

“Lilia,” you begin. “If it’s alright with you and Her Majesty, I’d like to keep the child for the time being.”

Lilia looks to you with surprise. “(Name)-“

“He has no where else to go,” you interrupt. “Please? I couldn’t bare to send him off to someone who may not provide him with the same love and care I know we can.”

Lilia remains silent, pondering what you said. After a few tense moments he finally signs. “Alright.”

You smile. You place an endearing kiss on Lilia’s forehead. The baby wakes. He doesn’t cry. Just stares absentmindedly at his surroundings. His violet eyes then meet yours. Somehow, he wiggles a hand out of the swaddle. You extend your pinky, which he grabs tightly with a small fist.

“What should we call him?” You ask.

Lilia peers over your shoulder. He then smiles. “How about Silver?”

My Thad Headcanons

Because I'm so totally autism about him, you have no IDEA

I took this from a fic I read, but Thad runs warm. By this I mean his cooling system likes to malfunction every now and then and he has to throw himself into a bunch of icepacks until it works again. If he overheats, he’ll shut down so it systems can cool down much like a phone would

He's self conscious about his sharp canines, but not in the sense that he’s constantly thinking about it. It’s more like a “if i look at myself in the mirror and see my smile, I’m going to remember they’re there and be like ‘oh. that’s not right.’” Because of his insecurity with his sharp teeth, he refuses to go to the dentist

The fact Uzi had a crush on him before meeting N absolutely flew over his head (he’s stupid)

He likes girls AND boys

Ever since the fight with J and V in the pilot, he coughs up oil on occasion. Basically; Worker Drones are stupid and don’t know anything about their own anatomy, so instead of trying to fix the internal damage, they just welded his wounds closed, so now he’s just perpetually internally bleeding

He heals pretty quickly and has a high pain tolerance (entirely because he’s a sports player, and also he heals quick because of the fact he runs warm)

Sometimes he’ll get nightmares about the attack with V and J and also when Solver yonk’d his ass in episode 2. These fucked him up for a little while after and he couldn’t sleep very well, but they’re not as big of a problem anymore

His room is usually surprisingly neat and full of trophies and medals and other various sports memorabilia

Gets really competitive during football matches, but has really good sportsmanship <3 like he’ll be screaming shit during the match and then he’ll lose and to the other team he’s like “good job guys you absolutely rocked it out there, but we’ll beat you next time i’m sure of it >:)” he likes a lil friendly competition

Thad and Lizzy are twins but he’s younger than her by like 2 minutes. She teases him for this. In retaliation, he teases her because he’s taller (by 1 inch)

Sometimes they get in trouble for ‘bullying” each other, but every time they do, Lizzy just says “Siblings are fair game!” and Thad nods

I think he says “no problemo” a lot. He also says other silly phrases like "Okie Dokie Artichokie" and calling things "Rad" and ironically saying" tubular." Lizzy says "This isn't the 80's" and then he responds with "Well the 80s were sick as heck dude so I don't care"

He's a morning person

Listens to highly energetic songs without paying attention to the lyrics, so he’ll listen to the most like. Innapropriate songs without even realizing it just because they’re bops

Gets dating advice from Ron (the drone at the door from episode 2 for those who forget the bg characters)

Yk how people will throw food like popcorn into the air and then catch it in their mouths? yeah he’s really good at that

Sometimes when he can’t sleep he goes out and plays basketball by himself. tires him out so he can eep

Has a nice singing voice, but he doesn’t think he does (i’m projecting)

He doesn’t like to swear, but sometimes jokingly says “I will swear word at you” to his friends

If he’s holding something, he’ll start idly just flip it in the air and catch it over and over. subconsciously too, he just does that

He also plays Soccer and Basketball

Sometimes when someone grabs him unexpectedly, he’ll flinch a little (thanks solver). This usually only happens if he’s been spacing out or doesn’t see the person who grabbed him at first

Chill until someone messes with Lizzy. Then he will fight. Though she’s one of the popular girls so it doesn’t happen often

Weak to flirting; he gets flustered easily. Yet he’s a total flirt when he likes someone and is comfortable enough around them

I like to think Thad gets hurt a lot because he’s a fucking football player and usually he doesn’t get it fixed because it’s normal, but Lizzy and/or Uzi will yell at him to get it fixed because it could fuck with the strength of his casing

One time Thad said “Bite me” to Uzi and she just looked at him like a smug cat while he had a moment

Sometimes he’ll try to hide in his collar when he’s flustered (it never works)

He, Lizzy, and Doll were a trio of best friends (Until Doll's Solver infection started getting really bad and began distancing herself from the other two)

For me, Uzi says that she is the type that hates physical contact, but the truth is that she only gives this "power" to those she has a lot of affinity with...with you and N being the only ones allowed to hug her. (Sorry dad-)

Uzi would never admit that she likes to hug you, and if you questioned she, you would get a big: " BITE ME! " with embarrassed shiny cheeks.

If Uzi is having a bad day, she would immediately come to you, demanding hugs, which you would never mind bringing the drone to your lap, hugging the drone affectionately while stroking her hair and massage her back.

Uzi would definitely want to watch anime cuddling you, resting her head on your shoulder in a pleasant silence.

If you were short like her, she would sometimes pull you into her lap to hug you.

Now if you were tall- Get ready for a flying hug attack! That drone would lunge towards you and grab you like a gremglin lmao-

If they were both hugging you at the same time, Uzi likes to rest her head on your chest or shoulder, while N likes to rest their head on your head or the side of your face.

In spoon hugs, you would be Uzi's big spoon, while you would be N's little spoon! (Very comfortable!)

Yknow, I was keeping an eye on the Too Many Thads AU stuff back before Frequency even started, and I gotta say? Reading the fic as it was updated, knowing in the back of my mind that you had said you planned to have Thad be the only survivor (and maybe one other clone? the memory’s a bit hazy now.)? That really heightened the experience, honestly. It lent the story a very tragic air from the moment we were properly introduced to Eight and Nine, up until that late-game major twist. So kudos on your sharing your scrapped plans improving the reading experience, lol. Got to have your cake and eat it too.

i guess so! i hadn't even thought of that actually

yeah although im gonna try to commit to not posting in-progress projects before they're done, there was a very specific very fun energy that came out of seeing people get excited with each new chapter. the messages comments and reactions got me So Hyped to write.

(and in some cases the feedback was Vital to check me on certain plot holes... the entire Young Justice dinosaur/robot battle was invented because i got a comment asking why YJ didn't go through the portal to save bart after an hour. And i realized i fucking forgot to add the bit of dialogue where Three tells Thad he manually closed the thing so nobody could get through. so i made up a robot dinosaur fight purely so YJ could tell bart that his stupid portal closed and they couldnt get to the lab. anyway it worked out in the end but lmaoooo)

ive also followed along with ongoing projects (mostly webcomics lol) and watching the thing evolve as it goes is like my favourite thing about it. uncanny to be on the other end of it this time but tbh 10/10 would recommend it was very fun

Nuzi Hellspawns (this took may more time and effort than I wanted it too sobs)

More info on the twins, Scrapped child outfit for Orita & the AO3 comment(er) who gave me the name ideas (bc I'm bad at names lol) under the cut 💕

Orita:

N calls her his "sweet Violet" due to the color of her optics being a light purple

Personality wise she mostly takes after N, however she did inherited Uzis unhingedness so she has her moments

She got Uzi's skill in robotics, engineering and hacking

Her and Uzi help each other with their projects once Orita is old enough to help Uzi (Uzi always helped her daughter when asked ofc)

Once the twins switch to their Teen/Adult bodies, she starts to basically upgrade herself by custom making DD forearms so she looks more like N too

The above point worries N a little because she actually gave herself weapons in them -- N always refused to have her look at his weaponry, having a strict "no weapons around the kids unless it's absolutely necessary" rule.

Because of the above rule, Orita went to V instead because V doesn't mind her looking at her weapons. She thinks it's cool that she's interested in them

Her childhood body used to be Uzi's when she was a kid (same with her Pill Baby body lol)

She placed a sticker of the DD logo on her cores cover as a child to kind of honor her Dad, she loves him dearly <3

N did her hairstyle :3

She probably picked up the phrase "Biscuit" from her dad

Scrapped outfit:

Rexim

He takes more after Uzi with his personality so he's more angsty

He continues the catch phrase "Bite Me" from his mother and Grandmother

He inherited Ns love for animals & cute things and one might catch his angsty persona slip when it comes to that

He has a bad habit of picking fights or getting involved in them

This resulted in his main camera being severely damaged in one confrontation, resulting in him primarily using the Headband optics as camera

Said headband was made Uzi (both of the twins headbands were) because the twins code included Ns "real eyes" / headband optics, which resulted in them having issues with their sense of orientation and depth perception without said optics. They aren't nearly as advanced as their dads when it comes to features and accuracy, but they get the job done

He kinda goes through a "my dad is boring" phase at one point, but that's swiftly put to an end when he actually sees N in action

He had severe problems balancing using WD legs, seemingly not having enough footing to do so. So Uzi made him custom ones based on Ns lower legs so that their son has more surface to stand on and distruste his weight on

The WD symbol on his cores covering ends up scratched up and with chipped paint as he gets older, due to him getting into fights a lot

Both Twins

Both kids inherited the downsides that come with being a DD/Solver user - meaning they can't go out in the sun, have issues overheating and do need to feed on oil (these issues don't start until they are transferred to their first functional bodies. As babies they're fine)

This probably means Uzi went out of her way to improve their internal cooling system a bit

Other

Seeing as Oritas childhood body is that of Uzi, I am debating on if I make Thad child-free and he offered them his for Rexim

This idea comes from me hc N and Thad as having a brotherly bond & feeling like the CoolKids Trio would still be very close later on. Thad is practically the twins uncle :) (he spoils them lol)

The Dance

“Have you heard? They're having a big party, apparently it's to celebrate a new year or something like that” J asked “Yea Lizzy even invited me” V responded, “Are you going to go?” J asked “Yea I am even Tessa and N are going are you not?” V said. “No, I have work” J said, “work?” V asked with doubt, “Yes work, are your audio receptors having problems?” J asked sarcastically, V rolled her eyes, then V smirked to herself coming up with an idea. “You know If your 'work' clears up I hear a certain someone doesn't have anyone to accompany her~” V said a mischievous grin on her face, J glared at her knowing exactly who V was talking about. “Aww come on, I'm just pulling your leg” V said, her grin growing to be Cheshire like “Ugh hate when you do that” J said pushing V away, a bell flashing on her visor. “Oh all ready well I'm going out to have fun see ya~” V said before flying off J sitting on some scrap annoyed.

Uzi, sitting in her room tinkering with various machines, Uzi hearing a knock on the door “Come In” Uzi said the room being illuminated by the pale light coming from the hallway Khan coming in saying ”You know the new year's celebration is going to be starting here soon have you picked out an outfit yet?” Uzi pointing to her bed the black dress she wore on prom set there neatly,” Uzi you don't have to go if you don't want to, Khan said ”I do it's just…” khan cutting in saying you're nervous?” ”What me nervous, I've dealt with way worse, I'm not nervous at all.” Uzi said ”well if you say so” khan said in a sad tone, knowing that she was lying or not telling him the full picture. It wasn't a lie, just she wasn't nervous. It's just a reminder that she well by herself of course she has N and V But that not what she means well N loves her as a sister and V well… Her processor quickly flashed the image of J a blush appearing on her visor. She was the LAST drone she would ask but maybe-Uzi cutting herself off, NOPE she would just suck it up and go by herself… just then she heard the doorbell ring.

Was she really doing this, J thought to herself, standing in front of the door saying Doorman resident's she could just go back no one would know or even care, so why is she here? Did she just want to get back at V? Khan slowly opening the door, his eyes hollowing out staring at the drone in front of him, he never felt comfortable around them but THIS ONE especially. Uzi coming to the front door after putting on her prom dress, she saw J? She's wearing a yellow thigh dress along with a black coat with an open front and what looked to be fur along the cuff and trim Uzi staring at J her visor playing a sparkle effect and a blush. J looking at her, seeing her in a black dress It fit her perfectly it was alright Khan interrupting J staring at Uzi saying “A-Are you here for the new year's party?” Khan said his visor showing beads of sweat going down it “As a matter of fact I am, and I'm here to pick up your daughter. Isn't that right Uzi~” J said Uzi, still lost in J eyes hearing her name, she responded with a “yea” only for Uzi to snap out of it realizing what she just agreed to. Khan still in shock “O-Oh okay” Khan stuttered out slowly handing Uzi over J extending her hand out for Uzi to grab who just slapped away “let's just go” Uzi grumbled out walking off with J.

J and Uzi entering the gymnasium, feeling the beat of the music N Tessa Thad and V came over Lizzy tagging along. “Uzi, so glad you could make it hey J” Thad said doing a double take upon seeing J glaring at him “hey Uzi? What is she doing here?” Thad whispered “I can hear you AND for your consideration I'm accompanying Uzi tonight” J responded in a snarky tone. Everyone But V looked shocked, Thad speaking up “Uzi blink twice if you're being force to do this” Thad whispered “No I'm not being force to do this” Uzi said J rolling her eyes. N piping up “Well I think it's nice to see you two together and not fighting” Tessa nodding “You're taking my advice about getting out more and doing less work.” Tessa said “Yep” J responded forcing a smile then a random drone called out. “HEY THAD TESSA, WE GOT THE JERRY CANS ALL SET UP COME ON DON'T CHICKEN OUT ON US NOW” cutting the awkward silence Thad and Tessa running over. “Thad challenged her to a drinking contest and well you know her, I'm going to make sure she doesn't over do it.” N said walking off waving to J and Uzi Lizzy following him, “so I'm guessing your 'work' wasn't that big of a deal? And I also see that you took my advice about 'accompanying' someone” V said, a smug grin on her face, “Advice?” Uzi asked, “Oh just that a little birdy told me that you were going to come to this event alone, and I may have let that slip out” V answered her question, “Let me guess this little birdy happened to be Lizzy?” Uzi scoffed, “even now she still wants all the detes of drama” she added, Uzi heading over to the table severing cheap ethanol “I'm going to need a drink for tonight” Uzi grumbled to herself. J following behind her grabbing Uzi's drink “For me why thank you” J said in a smug tone, Uzi glaring at her getting herself another drink as J walked off.

Uzi and J have been avoiding each other for the most part, occasionally meeting up. Uzi, mainly been hanging out with N and V, all three of them watching Thad and Tessa drinking challenge. ”Okay Tessa, you beat me I surrender,” He said Tessa letting out a hearty laugh, ”shouldn't have challenged me little man I will always win” Tessa said having a bold stance. ”Uh wow she drank like three bottles of alcohol, is she going to be okay? Isn't alcohol poisonous to humans” Lizzy asked, ”In significantly large amounts yes, but she's just going to wake up in the morning with a killer headache and regretting this” J said, ”Hey I don't regret, nothing” Tessa said, slightly sluggish N Rushing to her side ”lets just take it easy for now” N said kindly ”maybe that wouldn't be such a bad idea” Tessa said leaning in to N giggling a little. V snicking to herself, V was about to say something, but the DJ making an announcement.

”SLOW DANCE STARTING IN T MINUS ONE MINUTE” Lizzy eyes lighting up ”OH come, come on V we gotta do this” Lizzy said grabbing V's hand dragging her along, V chuckling to herself ”The romantic as ever.” Tessa looking at N a blush on her face, ”Would you like to dance with me?” she asked ”sure” N responding a warm smile on his face, his tail gently wagging. As N and Tessa walked off, leaving J and Uzi with just each other, ”Sooo…” Uzi said, not really sure how to ask her god her thoughts felt fuzzy J already knowing what she was going to ask and was going to say no but looking a Tessa N and V she felt Jealous? She was fine, she was fine, she lied to herself J's eyes glancing over to Uzi, but maybe it would be okay. ”Sure” J said offing her hand, Uzi was shocked, but she took her hand, as they both walked to the dance floor Uzi looking up at J saw that she's blushing on her visor. J looking down at Uzi, saw her eyes quickly dart away looking to her left blushing, J chuckling to herself she was so cut- J cutting off that thought as they both reached the dance floor. She realized she was boxed in she couldn't get out now, J felt her core rhythm increase J slowly starting a Tango with Uzi, but she was messing up she felt sluggish no they both are sluggish ”Wow you are not good at this” Uzi whispered a smirk on her face ”Yea because you keep messing me up what did they build you with two left feet?” J whispered back Uzi glaring at her, J was starting one of her speeches about how she should count herself lucky that she would even do this with her and blah, blah, blah. GOD COULD'NT SHE JUST SHUT UP FOR ONE NIGHT, Uzi thought to herself, J face getting closer to hers. God, she just wanted her to shut up Uzi got an idea the ethanol in her systems clouding her judgment, without thinking she shot forwards and kissed her J panicking she needed to pull away, so why wasn't she? J hands pulling her in closer and Uzi left hand grabbing her head and her right hand holding her waist Uzi and J sinking into each other embrace, Uzi felt weak. After what felt like an eternity, she never wanted to end they both pulled away both of them letting out light pant's staring at each other slightly shaking Tessa interrupting their moment with a ”AWW MY BABY'S IN LOVE” both of them snapping out of the haze both of them realized what they both had just done. Looking around, everyone was staring at them, Uzi ran and J flew off breaking the roof, both of them leaving with one thought WHY DID I ENJOY IT.

If you don't mind more questions I'd love to ask them! Did most of the Impulse comics happen the same way, just in a slightly different place? When did Thad join the family? How did that go down? What was it like for both Bart and Thad to adjust to living in a camper? I imagine it was more familiar to Thad, but I don't know if that would make it better or worse for him.

Most of the Impulse comics events happened the same way. Only a few things were changed. For example, they live in Montana now since Helen would be living in the Blackfeet Nation.

Thad joined the family a few months after Mercury Falling. He remained on his own for a while, pondering and being conflicted by what happened (So yeah, nothing that happened after Mercury Falling is canon). I don't know the details yet since I barely started to write that down.

As for their daily life after that, I'd say it definitely is easier for Thad than for Bart to live in the camper, you're right. Bart always felt like it was too small a space to live in. But to be honest, Thad and Max get along way better than Bart and Max. Don't get me wrong, Max loves Bart. But Thad is more compatible with his way of life, plus the kid is always trying his best to make Max proud of him.

Which is definitely not the same with Bart. Because of that, the twins fight A LOT: Bart because he feels Thad is trying to steal Max from him, Thad because he just thinks Bart is an idiot who don't deserve Max. Bare with me, I'm roughly describing. It's hard to sum it all up for me, tbh, especially since like I said I just started writing it down.

ooohohohoho charlie i have THOUGHT ABOUT THIS you have NO IDEA. you've given me the perfect opportunity to talk about the Disciple Van Road Trip that doesn't actually happen in the AU because they have no money or time to actually do that but i still have thought about extensively.

john brought up the idea and simon immediately agreed and these two are unstoppable forces so by the moment they agree on something it's happening

literally Everyone else complains but does it anyways

thomas is very against the idea because he knows "we'll all take turns driving" means he, big james, jesus and susanna will take turns driving until susanna gets bored, james has to settle an argument or console someone and jesus has some petty fight with judas and sulks in the back of the van

matthew and john do most of the planning. john because he's enthusiastic and matthew because nobody's trusting john to do this by himself

also he's very detail oriented so he'll do it properly

big james has several objections. most being on how set simon is on this when he knows he gets car sick like 30 minutes into a drive

philip and andrew have accepted their fate and are buying snacks.

little james buys noise cancelling earphones.

magdalene borderline refuses and goes home but susanna and thad talk her into it

the trip happens anyways because of course it does.

as predicted an hour in john and judas are throwing chips at each other

susanna is threatening to turn the car around and go home

matthew gets overstimulated and borrows little james' earphones which leaves him having to cope with andrew panicking over forgetting to pack the most insignificant shit

peter and andrew are insulting each other's mothers

(peter and andrew are half siblings now. lore change. i don't remember if i've ever shared that)

(generally several changes are being made)

simon has gotten car sick and wants to die. big james is trying his best to comfort him instead of calling him an idiot and saying he told him so

magdalene and jesus are engaging in polite conversation

john goes through phases where he's either super hyped and energetic and non stop talking or silently huddled next to matthew in the back of the van probably dissociating

nathanael gets bored and is trying to get thad to make out with him

several people are throwing things at nathanael

thad asks to change seats

big james realizes susanna is a hundred percent for real and is going to turn around and go home so he gently offers to drive for a bit

simon barfs out the window

they all agree it's time to make a little rest stop and get fresh oxygen back into their brains

things go slightly more smoothly after that

simon's not sick anymore and also he and james in the front seats means they're in charge of the music which means there's good music

jesus and judas have resolved whatever they're currently going through at a gas station which means jesus is in a good mood again and can make sure the group isn't falling apart

he comes up with a bunch of ridiculous road games that keep everyone busy enough to not start throwing stuff at each other

peter and andrew apologize for insulting each other's mothers and share a bag of fritos

peter and magdalene on the other hand have fought during the stop and are currently not on speaking terms

nathanael and thad might have made out. nobody's sure and at this point they're not sure they really wanna know.

magdalene and judas smoke out the window despite agreeing not to but at this point nobody's willing to pick a fight about it

jesus and thomas take turns driving while everyone sleeps. some of them occasionally wake up and keep them company because apparently sleeping in a van is not most convenient

mostly nathanael cause this guy can't sleep in a regular setting nevermind a moving vehicle. sometimes judas.

john has a nightmare at some point which he really had hoped wouldn't happen but here we are

thomas notices and he wakes big james and james makes him pull over but eventually they go back to sleep

the rest of the night is mostly uneventful

philip wakes up at some insane hour at dawn and asks thomas to pull over again in some field so he can watch the sunrise

thomas wants to go home or drive the van into a wall but he can't do that so he sits with philip and meditates on the dirt instead.

Okay so I just wrote this in the tags of another post but now I'm going to subject you all to it directly

DC could 100% redeem Thad Thawne and make all of his past characterizations make sense. Stay with me here.

So one of the biggest issues people have with DCs handling of Thad Thawne as a character was how he was treated outside of the Impulse series. The Impulse series created and introduced Thad. Thad was created to prune the Thawne family tree of its bad apple, aka Bart Allen. See, Bart is half Allen and half Thawne, a fact that has the Thawnes very conflicted. On one hand Bart is speed. By god that boy bleeds speedforce. Bart is without a doubt the fastest speedster in the Thawne legacy. But on the other hand Bart is too much of an Allen to be a Thawne legacy. The kid is good, through and through. So naturally the only recourse for the Thawnes was to create a new Bart, one with extra extra Thawne DNA, to replace the old one. Can't have a Thawne in the history books wearing their enemy's logo, now can they?

So Thad was given a purpose in life (kill Bart and be a better, more Thawne, version of him) but not much else. No parents, no love, no friends, no childhood, nothing. When Thad replaced Bart he suddenly found himself with friends who cared about him, a stable home life and a father figure who loved him unconditionally and Thad realized what he actually wanted in life. He wanted love. He craved love. But the love he was receiving wasn't meant for him, it was Bart's.

Thad's last appearance in the Impulse series had him seconds away from killing both Bart and Max, seconds away from completing his objective in life and securing his place in the Thawne family legacy, but he chose to walk away instead and let them live. I really can't do this scene justice by explaining it so just read this:

This is a child who just wants to be loved. His character is compelling, he's endearing, he's a tragedy. And DC decided to just ignore all of that and make him a psychotic mass murderer that explodes babies for fun and sexually assaults women. It's aggravating and it's another example of DC dumbing down characters for the worse.

BUT!

I can fix it.

Here's the thing, it's dumb but it's completely canon that Eobard Thawne can hypnotize other speedsters using the speedforce.

Bart randomly didn't talk to his family for over a year? Thawne hypnotized him because he didn't want him in the way. Wally covered up HiC? Thawne thought it'd upset Barry. Barry had a temper tantrum? Thawne. Ace was fine with the Teen Titans brutalizing people? Thawne thought it'd be funny. Jay's midlife crisis? It's all Thawne.

So when an emotionally vulnerable and vaguely homicidal little boy comes to the conclusion that he's been robbed of a normal, loving childhood, it's only reasonable to assume that he would go and take issue with his creator. And by 'take issue' I mean that he was probably planning on killing Thawne for creating him in the first place. And it's only reasonable to assume that Thawne, upon seeing that a 'valuable tool' of his has started to rebel, would immediately hypnotize Thad into completing his objective and being more 'Thawne-like'.

TLDR: After Mercury Falling Thad went to go fist fight Thawne and Thawne used hypnosis on him to make him more Evil™ and to get him to kill Bart. That's why in subsequent appearances Thad was suddenly hellbent on murdering Bart and was 'exploding babies for fun' levels of evil.
