I absolutely adored the dynamic all the kids had with Erik while he was their teacher back in the 80's comics, and my love for it was only renewed with the latest Magneto comic that came out in 2023! I love Amy's Choice and I love The Day of the Doctor Novelization, but something that only clicked for me recently — is that the reason the Eleventh Doctor is able to instantly recognize and brush past the Dream Lord when he appears — is because for as long as he's had this body, he's been hallucinating the War Doctor’s voice taunting him in a very similar way (minus all the jokes).

Of course at the end of Amy's Choice, the Doctor sees the Dream Lord reflected in the console, looks distressed, and says nothing, and I just. I love how Moffat used that novelization to flesh out so many different elements he included in his run.

i got to the part of new mutants last night where they leave magneto and the school and I already miss headmaster mags and more than that i miss the incredibly funny dynamic where every time the kids sneak out of school for some mission despite being grounded (happens constantly, they can teleport, what's he gonna do), because cerebro is broken and he can't fix it, he has to GO TO THE HELLFIRE CLUB and use their mutant detector to find his kids while shaw and selene make fun of him for being outsmarted by six teenagers. again.

man i have really been thinking about worldbuilding and exposition in books recently

when i was like, i don’t know, twelve-ish, I picked up this book about a teenage girl in a spy school. and i absolutely fell in love with it - I thought it was incredibly neat how the book just seemed to drop me into the middle of the story, even starting in the girl’s second year. in fact, the main character frequently referenced events from her first year (falling in love with a civilian, things ending badly, finding secret passageways, losing her mother’s trust etc.) 

and I actually really enjoyed the fact that the character had a rich and vibrant life outside of what i had read and that the book didn’t go out of its way to explain her past in flashbacks or anything. i understood the main takeaways and why she was reacting to things based on what i gleaned, and more than that i understood the growth of the character, why she was cautious in certain places but reckless in others, etc and i felt smarter for not being handed the answer on a silver platter

anyway it wasn’t until i finished the book and realized there was a sequel that i looked it up and found out that. in fact. i had started with the second book in the series.

#i will say i genuinely read the sequels and NEVER went back and read the first book #it genuinely felt like i understood the takeaways from reading the second book #it almost felt like i would be doing cammie a disservice by going backwards and undoing the progress she had made #anyway i just remember thinking about how cool it was that the author didn't go out of their way to explain exactly what happened #and yet i was able to understand what happened just by her reactions to this new guy #the oh. OH. of realizing she hadn't fallen in love with a civilian so much as fallen in love with the idea of civilian life #her life being made much more difficult from the loss of trust by her mother and teachers #kind of want to go back and reread it but i feel like reading ur childhood books again sets you up for disappointment #probably not the masterpiece i remember reading #but man it made so much sense bc of COURSE cammie wouldn't just like. give me info about how the world worked. her mum was headmaster. #ofc she knew how the spy world worked smh #so when they were like FUCK the secret passageways we used to sneak out are blocked off bc we got caught last year #we need to figure out either a) another way out of the school unseen or b) find more secret passageways #and i was like !!! yeah! of course! that makes total sense and adds an obstacle for the main character to get though! #and now i also know that cammie a) was sneaking out to see her boyfriend which means it was b) a secret worth hiding for some reason #idk that second book was the only bitch i respect

Made a height chart to compare how big teachers/headmasters are to Cookies. (You'll need context from the Bachalomoth post)

Incase you're wondering why I didn't add any Legendary Cookies or any Dragon Cookies for the height chart, is because I'm pretty sure some of the legendaries can change how big they are (example: Sea Fairy, Black Pearl, Sugar Swan, ect) while the Dragons are in the same boat as the teachers/headmasters in this Au, that being the are things that weren't originally Cookies that can take the form of Cookies.

Tbh, I think that the two reasons why so much people hate all the "Makoto becomes HPA's new headmaster" reveal is that:

1: They believe that Makoto would just continue the Committee's corruption, just because he has a more positive opinion on the place (That it's mainly caused by Jin trying to save class 78 from the Tragedy)

2: Those people see Hope's Peak as a representation of everything wrong with the Danganronpa universe, with its obsession with talent being the main reason why the Tragedy ended up happening in the first place, so they hate the idea of it being open again.

Being the optimist that he is, it's true that Naegi likely had a more positive experience with/impression of Hope's Peak than many did by the end. But it's not like he's blind to their transgressions. He still lived through the mass suicide of the Reserve Course, he personally saw how one of their own caused the tragedy... but probably most important is his involvement in redeeming the Remnants of Class 77-B. Through that, we know for sure that he's aware of the disturbing "Kamukura Project."

Through my own fanfics, I've sporadically explained/hinted at my own vision of what it means for him to be the new headmaster of a rebooted Hope's Peak. Right from the jump, DR1 has Makoto extolling the virtues of Hope's Peak as a beacon of hope for the world — and I think he still sees that potential, albeit redefined. This IS the same guy who believed that even 77-B deserved redemption and a second chance, so of course he'd feel the same about a mere symbol. But I see him using it as a place dedicated to giving a bright future to those most deeply affected by/orphaned by the tragedy rather than focusing on Ultimates/exceptional talents.

As a (current?/former?) member of the Future Foundation, I think this would be the most logical way for Makoto to lay his own foundation for the future.

Some wild drama happening at my old art high school... New headmaster kicked out three teachers because they liked satirical post on instagram, which made very deserved fun of her. 

She brought it up to police because she thinks liking such posts is participating and enabling bullying and that it paints the school in bad light..  

Meanwhile she is bullying the whole student body along with the teachers/professors..makes Insane rules and  does weird monologues, straight up Umbridge behaviour.. The fact that she hates art and artists and before becoming the headmaster she taught czech... like I remember how she used to berate n ridicule anyone who made even the smallest mistakes...how she made homophobic coments (at liberal left leaning school where at least half of the students are some type of queer)... AND just few hours ago I learned that she got the position she shouldnt have gotten in the first place, because her relative works at the office of our local county representative....while also her, the relative and the county representative are all  KDU-ČSL...Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party..a centrist conservative party that manages to swing from left to right and right to left depending on need, but always keeps its traditional values - sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia etc. etc... which is just f*cking abysmal.. 

I am no longer a student at the school.. havent been for years.. but damn as an alumni I feel so fragging bad for everyone who has to deal with her and her regime now...
