Here's part 1

In part 1, I spoke about the manipulative nature of Moon dominant people, in this post I will be exploring it further and providing more examples.

I think its interesting that the Moon dominant nakshatras, namely, Rohini, Hasta & Shravana are Manushya gana (Rohini) and Deva gana (Hasta & Shravana). It is very telling because even though these natives say and do terrible things, they enjoy squeaky-clean reputations and people usually perceive them as angels. If they were Rakshasa gana people would see through their bs more quickly.

Ariana Grande- Hasta Moon conjunct Jupiter

Ariana has said and done numerous problematic things over the years, from cheating scandals, blackfishing, donutgate, being extremely rude and arrogant, changing races every few years, to cringe ass over-sexualised lyrics, to being a homewrecker, Ariana is super duper messy YET she enjoys public and media support and is seen as America's sweetheart. Other people have lost their careers for less but Ari gets away with absolutely everything. Amy Dunne from Gone Girl is THE best example of a Moon-dominant person and the extent to which they'll go to ruin your life. Amy Dunne was played by Rosamund Pike who has Shravana Sun conjunct Mars

Amy had such a squeaky clean image that it was impossible to convince anybody that she was the sociopath who tried to fake her own death.

Leo is a creepy middle aged man who only dates women under 25, lives for the yacht life and spends his free time partying and doing drugs, all of which is fine but these are things that other Hollywood men come under fire for ALL the time, yet Leo is pretty much everyone's favourite, he's the environmentalist humanitarian even tho he's private jetting to his private island to party with models, even tho he's received flak in the last couple of years for dating women much younger than him, its still more of a running gag than anything serious. John was a wife beating, child beating, abusive to multiple women, made fun of people with disabilities, pretended to be an anti establishment hippie even though he accepted an MBE from the Queen of England (he returned it years later in protest) and yet he is remembered as a counterculture icon and one of the most talented musicians ever. He was a violent abusive man who preached peace. Although he was a philanderer himself, he was obsessively jealous and possessive towards the women he became involved with. Lennon was an extremely wealthy man who lived a rich lifestyle, but he said that we should "imagine" a world with no possessions or greed. In short, he was a hypocrite. Yet he is still remembered fondly unlike sooo many other figures in history.

speaking of hypocrisy, here's Mrs Clooney, the human rights lawyer who wears $34,000 worth of clothes while championing the poor. She attends gala and balls wearing clothes worth thousands of dollars to "raise money for charity" whilst being married to a man who has a net worth of $500 million. Like I'm sure he could just write a cheque?? The Clooneys throw a lot of charity balls/dinners/parties etc as well and its so funny to me because its obvious they're doing it to keep a certain image before the media, whilst also getting all glammed up and having fun, without doing anything tangible to actually help anybody. imagine your job is to represent refugees, unfairly imprisoned heads of state and advise the UN and you also split time between 5 different mansions all over USA and Europe in private jets lol yet Amal enjoys a good reputation for being a girlboss

Lady Goop is a nepo baby and has a net worth of $200 million yet she feels the need to make money off of people by selling bullshit wellness products like $55 sex oils, $400 meditation mats, mouth tape, vibrators, theraguns, vitamins, health supplements and god knows what else?? Helena Blavatsky- Hasta Moon & Venus

Helena is the co-founder of the Theosophical Society and was an international leader figure in the Theosophical community. She basically helped promote eastern spirituality and philosophy in the West except that she's lied about pretty much her whole life, so its hard to confirm literally anything about her. She died in 1891 so at the time when she was alive there was no way for others to prove whether or not she was lying, they just had to take her word for it. She lied about training with sages in Tibet and lied about her mystical experiences, plagiarised ancient eastern texts to write about her "spiritual discoveries" etc There's plenty of proof that she was nothing but a charlatan yet I find it interesting how she still has a devoted following and even in her lifetime enjoyed a good reputation as a mystic medium lmao

His death toll alone puts him on a short list of the worst people to ever live, but most of the people on there did what they did for an ideology.

He’s also been described as “the Forrest Gump of war crimes.” He just shows up for no good reason in the history of so many atrocities. Often he ordered them, but he also installed dictators who would carry out genocides. There’s worse people in history, but none who have been involved in so many separate crimes.

Okay, but I wanted to share this because I'm in love with your corrupted Alhaitham headcanons, especially the one for the Vampire AU! Corrupted Alhaitham would also be really interesting to think about in the context of the Vampire AU.

I'd like to think that because Darling is super curious about what Alhaitham is saying, and Alhaitham's penchant for using older languages is not lost on her, she ends up getting into a few sketchy transactions of knowledge capsules to get more information.

And it's here where I can see an interesting branching path.

So in my mind, I have either Darling accidentally corrupting Alhaitham via sketchy knowledge capusle and Akasha Terminal, or Darling accidentally getting corrupt herself and definitely causing a few problems for Vampire!Alhaitham.

Oh gosh, the guilt of an accidental corruption due to Darling's actions would haunt them in the first scenario, I would think. And in the second scenario, Darling trying to bite back those impulses and seeds of corruption in her head, while trying to "act normal", has the seeds of a fun idea with lots of shenanigans.

(Though I do think Alhaitham would catch on, I don't think he'd do so right away. And not without doing a few "experiments" on darling first.)

The Darling in the Vampire AU is the perfect vessel for guilt-tripping because of their bleeding heart. Corrupted!Alhaitham doesn't even have to do or say anything, they'll willingly offer themselves to make up for the trouble they've caused. Corrupted!Alhaitham is positively thrilled, he'll have a field day toying with Darling. He'll purposefully make matters extra-complicated and leave them to Darling to solve. And they, in their attempts to alleviate their guilt, will go along with anything. Darling can't even bring themselves to blame Alhaitham, after all, it's their fault he became like this. He's such a bastard as well, will use those acting skills to hoard all of Darling's time and attention.

In the second scenario, I had the imagery of Darling's Corrupted self being more aware of Vampire!Alhaitham's intentions for some reason. Think of it like the angel vs devil on your shoulders scene. Corrupted!Darling tries their best to shoo away and spoil Vampire!Alhaitham's plans, while normal Darling tries to see the good in him. Though, the funniest pairing would definitely be Corrupted!Alhaitham and Corrupted!Darling.

Hello, gentle reader! As you know, Luca and Ali are teaming up and looking for a new residence. And guess what? YOU get to choose where they live! Yes, you! There is a poll at the end of this post, so please don't forget to vote. There are six lots in my save they are able to afford. I've provided a few pics and a description of each. Whatever lot you choose, I'll redecorate it and they'll move in shortly.

One thing I'd like you all to remember as you're making your selections, this save is very sims, so I don't put the same travel restrictions on them like in The Piersons & Friends. So even though a world might seem far to you, it's not far to them.

ALSO, I keep mentioning room/no room for Alessia. Let me just mention, at this point I have no plans to move her back home. But stayovers are a thing, and I think sims can ask if they can move in now(??). So...consider her in your deliberations or not. The choice is yours.

Let's get to these houses!

1. Sketchy shoebox

If Ali would like to stay in Evergreen Harbor, he could live here. He likes that there is a 3rd bedroom in case Alessia wants to come home, but the rooms are really tiny. Also, the neighborhood can be sketchy at times.

2. Abundant apartment

This is a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment in the arts district. If you guys pick it I'll turn the fake closet in the master to an en suite. This apartment is spacious and very affordable. But Ali isn't sure about city living, and when he dies he won't have anything to leave Luca and Alessia.

3. Spacious oasis

This house is setup for two roommates and will give our guys the privacy they need. It's big enough for them to not be on top of each other, and the office could be converted into a 3rd bedroom. There's only one bathroom though. And this house sits at the top of their budget and will be a stretch. Plus Ali isn't sure he'll like the weather.

4. Copperdale cubicle

This little cottage has the nerve to have two bedrooms lol. The neighborhood is nice, quiet, and close to attractions. But those attractions can get loud.

5. Sans cons

There honestly isn't anything wrong with this property. There's more than enough room for everyone, and if Alessia doesn't come home, maybe it'll be too big for our guys. It's affordable, the neighborhood is nice and quiet, and it has a big yard. The upstairs bedrooms are too small for an adult, so I'd have to reconfigure up there to make Luca comfortable. That could inflate the cost a little but not much. It could also make it cheaper! Just depends on what I do.

6. Cute ranch

I think this house is super cute and possibly one of the best houses Maxis ever made. Even though it's small, the layout won't leave them feeling cramped. The courtyard is cute, and they still have a little yard left. But there is only one bathroom and no room for Alessia.

I'm upset!

So, in the book "Dark Congress," Tara comes back. And at first, I thought it was "she comes back," like it wasn't really her.

But nope, it turns out that it really was her.

And I knew from the get-go that whoever this Tara person was (whether it was her or not. And like I said, at first I thought it wasn't really her, though it turns out it was!) was going to have to go away by the end of the book, because this is a season 8 book and there's no Tara in the season 8 comics.

But now knowing it was the real Tara has me so devastated.

Like, this super powerful old witch brought her back to life as a gesture as goodwill to Willow, because she wanted Willow to be her apprentice.

But it turns out this witch is evil (surprise, surprise). And some of the things she does to get her magic is super sketchy (like draining the power from other witches). And Willow and Tara then realize that if Tara stays alive, they'll pretty much be being hypocrites in condoning this woman for these things, when that's the way she got that magic to bring Tara back: since magic always comes with a price.

So Tara chooses to die again, in knowing deep-down that none of this is really right.

And there's actually a lot to love about it. It's so nice seeing Tara again. And we have some lovely Tillow moments. And more than anything, I feel this was about giving Willow the chance to say goodbye (which she never got) and closure, which is beautiful.

But why? Why?! -sobs forever-

i can kinda see your point... with drakken having been written into the comedic role... what i can see maybe is an immediate post-Grad arc, that details his return to the dark side from a life of inventing good things for the world maybe after he finally got his fame and recognition. so sort of the betrayal aspect.... maybe a secret betrayal. like maybe he's on kim's side and later revealed to be a traitor. and the comedic buffoon element would have to be left behind entirely. so it would be a fun challenge to keep his character...in character. but i can see that working to keep him relevant beyond crazy scheme of the week.

like i said in a prior post... gotta find a way to appeal to the original generation and the new. appeal too much to one or the other, and you alienate one set, and your show fails.

as to shego.... a little more opportunity there. she could be an anti-hero at GJ even though to me the idea doesn't appeal whatsoever... she could turn full evil dictator like the supreme one storyline... run a crime organization in go city... however she's so lazy and un-motivated she just doesn't work in the solo villain capacity either...

and...unfortunately all of these ideas keep the pair of them apart, which does not appeal to me nor are their characters very intersting alone. maybe both of them running a crime organization? maybe one of those super sketchy operations like dr. bortel? (that dude is a villain, prove me wrong.) one of their most endearing qualities is their banter; without each other they're not as appealing but to just have them be...comedy villain of the week totally cheapens them and the interest would fall. especially in a timeline where kim is more mature and needs more mature villains.

so if a sequel moved away from the comedic...yeah i'm not sure what drakgo or any of the original villains except monkey fist would do, who of course has been turned to stone. i think they'd have to stay in their lane kind of? so more world domination. but...maybe more intelligent plots, more scheming... maybe some messing with kim psychologically, more plotting against her like in Blush... that might add some spice to it. they can still banter and be the same people while being a bit more serious.

idk man i'm just...kinda suddenly realizing all my post-canon imaginings don't involve kim, lol. all my drakgo stuff is romantic/domestic, plus i have like...well a secret sort of fic i've been working on for years that givess them their own enemy they'll have to fight against... i never really think about a kim-focused sequel because it's just not as appealing to me as drakgo.

What are the Squad’s character quirks? (Stuff like little gestures they do sometimes, strong accents that become stronger when drunk, etc)

-All of them check new rooms for exits, sketchy people and potential emergency weapons, like fire extinguishers.

-Frank and Antoine are both From The South (Georgia and Louisiana, respectively), and, while travelling has worn away the edges, their accents are still very much there. Like Scarecrow's, they appear in special circumstances. Unlike Scarecrow, who will either be royally pissed (time to flee the country) or super sick (also time to flee, if Kitty gets to you, all they'll find is your pinky finger), there's a lot of special circumstances. Being drunk, tired, comfortable, and especially when interacting with each other: they had a Discussion on the Proper Way to Make Gumbo once. It was an experience for everyone else.

-With Riley, you can tell you've reached Level Ten Friendship or higher by how expressive he is: strangers get Scary Riley that stands absolutely still and operates on all business, all the time. Friends get Feral Riley that climbs on people, hits them to get their attention, and is generally a very expressive person; he's not above 'helpfully translating' Jason's speeches behind his back...a phrase which here means, 'mimes them in the most exaggerated way possible'. He also tends to keep something on him to play with: a fidget cube at best or a bullet at worst, though this was a habit he picked up to keep from messing with the burn scars around his mouth while they healed; he's definitely a scab-picker, right or wrong.

-Jimmy is a wrist-popper. He has carpal tunnel (who'd have thunk...) and as a result, he spends a lot of time popping his wrists and fingers. If he really tries, he can get some loud noises out of his right elbow. It's not even a conscious effort, mostly; if he's just sitting around, he starts snapping knuckles. Everyone hates it, but it brings him some relief.

-Mark has addictive tendencies. Because he refuses to be a hypocrite when he lectures people about, say, smoking, he redirects these with gum or candies. Usually gum. He also only refers to pineapples as piñas.

-Trent tends to rub the scar on his throat when he's stressed about something. He's also a hand-spreader when he's talking. Not a hand-waver, a hand-spreader:

It's a complete crapshoot as to whether it's taken as 'open, relaxed, friendly' or 'bring it on, motherfucker'. He doesn't even realize he's doing it.

My brother in christ you are selling an animal. This is like those zoo adopt an animal programs but it doesn't even help someone. Just fuels a weird overvaluing of art that needs further drafting.

Also, since I got an ask, let's do some design and art crit!

From what I can tell this person is pretty clearly inspired by scpkid (the sketchy lines, neutral pose, natural colors with little tonal variation)

I considered using a similar scpkid character but I find that comparing art isn't super constructive so I'll save that for cases where the person deserves harsher crit. I will still talk about scpkid's style and what makes it successful or appealing though.

From a purely anatomical perspective, I'd recommend distancing back legs from each other, both to give the design a more distinct silhouette and allow for detailing on the inner leg. This also helps to avoid clutter, which is present in excess in this design.

The legs being stuck together also leads to the design feeling very unbalanced, which is compounded by the larger head and upper torso. There's nothing wrong with exaggerated proportions, but you have to balance them.

If you want a style to study, sonic official art, particularly the IDW comics have some really well balanced anatomy. Break down some of the work from those to get a better understanding of gesture and how to balance designs.

Designs will be much more visually pleasing if the posing for the initial design is easy on the eyes. It can also give an idea of the character's personality, which often draws in people not looking specifically for pop designs.

Buyers looking to get a design they'll genuinely love and use will likely want a design because they feel a connection and have ideas for it immediately, so crafting a visual story for the character is important.

as for the actual design!

The think about animal fur is that it does not form perfectly round spots. It's a bunch of thin hairs with coloration variation. That's not to say you need to draw individual hairs, but adding texture to the spots also brings depth to the design. There's a lot of round and hard edges in this design, so your eyes don't really feel "led" anywhere.

Generally, you want to have detail in a place you want to stand out, and then more "neutral space" for the eyes to rest. This also means that after checking out the rest of the design, a viewer's eyes will return to the lovely details without being overwhelmed!

The placement of the spots is also not doing favors. concentrating them in specific areas, or making them closer to the main fur color and using darker spots in areas of focus would help a ton.

I think the pointed marking on the stomach was a lovely choice, it leads the eye upwards. I also like the yellow/white sclera of the eyes and teeth, it offers a nice pop of warm color that draws the eye.

Scpkid tends to be able to get away with more complex designs because he uses shape language and eye direction to his advantage. His use of markings ad texture leads the eye effectively while still giving it lots of negative space to rest. You'll often see a bunch of complex markings on the arms and shoulders, with progressively less detail closer to the navel.

Your colors are a strong start but you could use something with more saturation and contrast to really draw focus, because while I like the yellow, it's not eyecatching at a first glance. Consider adding a warmer gray to the upper chest and face or making the eye color contrast with the rest of the palette.

So TLDR;

the anatomy is unbalanced, study more professional work to understand how artists pull off exaggerated proportions

The spots are cluttered and need more thoughtful distribution

more texture and conscious use of soft/hard edges would help the clutter

understanding WHY you're putting detail somewhere is important

your color palette needs more variety to draw the eye.

If you like an artist's style, study them!! Break down their work into basic shapes, pull palettes from their design work and look at how they distribute those colors, pay attention to how the markings are drawn and *where* they are and aren't placed.

None of this is to say scpkid's designs are perfect, but if his art appeals to you, understand WHY they do that. Don't replicate, learn from.

I know the designer will prolly never see this but! I had time and I figured someone else might enjoy more variety past just "this design is shit."

ANON I LOVE YOU?? it's so okay and weirdly i was Just thinking about my kotsam ocs and their relationships yesterday bc i've been quietly plugging away at new more detailed oc pages behind the scenes and i just finished theirs

keep in mind it's been a WHILE since i played it myself (i've been considering a replay too) so this is liable to change over time and some of my memories are sketchy but !

josefin marc: (ariana & michael/julian & alexa) she's always gotten along super well with ariana and michael, she's a very helpful, affectionate & studious person which pretty much translates into Perfect Daughter Material. on an emotional level she's closer with her mother than her father because they'll talk more about personal issues and relationships vs her discussions with her father being more centered around school etc. but she has a pretty strong bond with both. out of the characters who are the biological kids of julian anderson she's probably the one least shaken by the revelation because it honestly just doesn't mean much to her, she was raised by ariana & michael and thus they are her parents in all the ways that matter

jinx bell: (isabella & lysander) she has a very light-hearted relationship with her mother, they're not super close in a 'confiding secrets and opening up to each other' sense and jinx is more likely to go to her friends with issues vs. her mother, but they have fun together and like to meet up occasionally to catch up and gossip a lil. she's not too sure how she feels about lysander yet, she's more offended by him leaving on her mother's behalf than her own, but she Is very amused by them rekindling their relationship and teases them a lot about it. she's not against the idea of welcoming lysander back into the family as long as he knows that if he ever pulls anything like that again she'll kick his ass

aries cox: (isabella & lysander) It's Complicated. their relationship isn't antagonistic at all, aries has a fierce loyalty to her mother and that's mutual, but she Is also very rebellious and chafes against authority which means there's been a lot of butting heads throughout the years. they'll usually bicker about at least one thing every time they see each other, but they'll bounce right back from it and there's no real hurt feelings from it, it's just how their relationship works at this point. unlike jinx, aries is very cynical towards lysander, she doesn't see him as family or her father at all and thinks if he's going to leave his ass should stay gone. part of that might just be that she doesn't think anyone's good enough for her mom, considering she heavily discourages her flirtations with the ambassador too

bee torres: (isabella & lysander) they're super super close. bee's best friend above anyone else is her mother. they only really had each other for most of her life, and that kicked off a lot of lil family traditions like baking together every saturday that they still participate in to this day (or at least did before bee had to leave for new magi). it's very very very rare that she'll choose anything for the holidays other than going home to see her mom, she genuinely enjoys spending time with her and wants to pack in as much of it as she can considering she doesn't get to live at home with her anymore most of the time. she doesn't mind lysander, she's open to him being back in her life if he wants to reconnect, though she personally is an Isabella/Ambassador shipper

autumn castella-cooke: (lucas) gets along with her father, but autumn's also very quiet and can be avoidant so neither of them find it easy to broach heavy topics with each other and they can be a little awkward if they try (think..... a slightly more lowkey version of bella and charlie swan). they have the kind of relationship where they don't really express affection but there's no doubt in either of their minds that it's there (though she Will always say she loves him and maybe drop a cheek kiss before she goes somewhere). finding out roxana was her mother was a bit of a mindfuck but after the initial few days she wasn't overly affected for kind of the same reasons as josefin, though she does take the step to add castella to her name for the sake of honouring that part of her lineage. she has no clue how to navigate deirdre being her grandmother yet and neither does deirdre, they just kind of talk Around the subject whenever they see each other and mutually ignore it being in the air between them

rome anderson-cain: (ariana & michael/julian & alexa) rome gets along with no one except cressida, jarrod & Sometimes dominic frankly. he's always been kind of a tough kid to raise, he's had anger issues since he was little and he's never quite understood consequences & social norms the way he should which means he's caused his fair share of trouble both at home and in school. ever since he was a teenager that only really grew and became resentment, even moreso after he found out about the supernatural and how much they'd been keeping from him. finding out julian is his biological father was actually kind of a lightbulb moment for him, because he'd always felt like something didn't click between him and his parents, like he just didn't have anything in common with them and he felt so apart from everyone else and now he finally has an answer that makes sense. on top of that his father turns out to be someone powerful and ambitious and that just piles on top of all his reasons to become part of frostbite because it's so clearly where he Should Be. he also feels like he finally understands where his talent for compulsion comes from because he refuses to just put that down to being a keeper

malachi bowen: (lucas) not unlike autumn, he's pretty private and stoic so they don't exactly have the kind of dynamic where they talk about Feelings and Boys. they spent, like, the cursory amount of time with each other while eating dinner every day and then it's Back To Malachi's Room to work on school shit. that said they do love & respect each other, malachi does enjoy telling lucas about everything he's working on and lucas will do his best to keep up and engage with him about it. malachi is also trying his best not to get in the way of his father & ebner even though it's A Little Strange for him because he's so used to work/school and family/home being very separate, he's genuinely pleased his dad has found some sort of happiness apart from him

cassis conner: (ariana & michael/julian & alexa) absolute pain in the ass kind of child who was constantly playing pranks on his parents as a kid. very talkative, very affectionate, very playful. they were always a close family, cass is very emotionally open and unabashed so they were very used to confiding in their family about absolutely anything that happened to be going on in their life. finding out about julian/alexa absolutely rocked his fuckin world, he became very paranoid and self-doubting and internalised a lot of fear about whether he'd take after julian and whether that blood relation meant anything about his future. which, y'know, didn't get better after julian killed both of them and cassis was completely unable to save them in time

Just some clan headcanons for my various rewrites to make them feel more diverse. I'll probably add on later but for now I've just listed some basic differences, preferences, and opinions for each clan:

Basic

-Shadowclan is the only clan that's actually nocturnal. They'll have a few warriors up during the day, but it's typically their half-clan/rogue cats that are awake. (Like Russetfur, Tawnypelt, or Dovewing.) I Imagine most- if not every- Shadowclan attack happens at night because of this. Always taking the other clans off guard.

-Windclan kept tunneling. Over the generations, they learned ways to make it safer and keep soil propped up with sticks and clay. The tunnels are their primary source of food in the winter.

-Riverclan decorates everything and anything. Their dens are dotted with shells. Their nests are lined with bright feathers. Flowers hang from roofs. Colorful stones line their camp. Everything is pretty.

-Skyclan lives in trees dammit. I REFUSE to take Thunderclan 2, Erin Hunter. These clans are going to be creative if you like it or not.

Opinions on outsiders

-Shadowclan is usually the most accepting of outsiders, even more than Thunderclan. They care more for numbers and genetic diversity more than anything else, so exiles, kittypets, and rogues are always welcome so long as they're willing to pull their weight. It's not uncommon for cats to join when trying to leave behind a sketchy past.

-Skyclan are descendant directly from kittypets and rogues. Outsiders are not a problem in the slightest.

-Thunderclan specifically used to be extremely hostile and prejudice to kittypets after Pinestar disappeared, but Firestar's leadership and his many kittypet descendants helped them to become more accepting.

-Windclan's acceptance of outsiders is near constantly fluctuating depending on the current leader. (Heatherstar was willing to invite rogues into her camp as friends. Tallstar was very relaxed with kittypets specifically becuase of Jake. Onestar's leadership shut this down immediately. To cover up his relationship with Smoke, he was pretty harshly against kittypets, rogues, and half-clans. Harestar is more kind because of his past, but isnt super accepting because he doesnt want to relive the mistake of trusting the wrong cats.)

Appreance Preferences

-Riverclan are very obsessed with their own beauty and image, so I image they're typically the least accepting clan. (This is relative to and changes with the leader, of course. Crookedstar's leadership was very kind, but it was clear during Leopardstar's lead that his time didnt really make an impact on their asshole behavior.) Outsiders might be welcome to join, but it's no doubt they have to put alot of work to truely be accepted.

-Bright fur (especially ginger) is considered attractive in Thunderclan. This trend was probably started by Thunderstar lmao. (Ex. Lionheart, Firestar, Squirrelflight, Lionblaze)

-Flat faces and fangs are considered attractive in Shadowclan ....You may hate the implications of Brokenstar being the hottest man in Shadowclan, but I refuse to change my mind. I said what I said.

-Riverclan finds silver and gray pelts attractive. (Ex: Rainflower, Silverstream, Stonefur)

-Windclan finds long tails attractive and short tails are cute.

General appearances

-Thunderclan cats are typically large and fluffy. Even short-furred cats have lots of undercoat. Thick tails are an iconic trait.

-Shadowclan cats are short and stocky. Flat faces used to be common. These traits aren't seen as often anymore though, because of all the outsiders who join and have kits.

-Tall Windclan cats are iconic, but I like how they're described in Squirrelflight's Hope. Windclan cats are small and it helps them to move faster. Their legs are long, but only relative to their small body sizes. Short tails aren't uncommon.

-Riverclan are plump and have thick, sleek coats. They're just as beautiful as they say they are. No competition for who's the most attractive clan.

-No specifics for Skyclan since they're all descendant from kittypets/rogues, but I always imagined they were cute in a dorky kind of way if that makes sense lmao. They're also tall.

View on scars

-Scars are common and valued in Shadowclan. They believe that scars make you strong, because you had a fight and survived it

-Opposite to Shadowclan, Thunderclan often find scars unsettling and bad luck, as TigerClaw's iconic feature was the scar across his snout.

-Riverclan are obsessed with beauty and image, so scars are typically kept hidden under thick fur. Cats like Crookedstar had a very hard time adjusting and growing up with such a harsh beauty standard.

-Windclan is pretty netrual on scars. Also they're usually more visible on Windclan cats because of their short fur.

Okay for the record anything made by Horizon is very cute and in that weird liminal space where it isn't bad but it isn't good, almost Avant garde but with that touch of Mom™ that means if she does a little doodle on her kid's lunch bag they'll probably keep it.

Does that make sense? I don't care.

Anyway legends that can ACTUALLY draw.

Short answer: Bloodhound, Wattson, Bangalore, Rampart, Seer, Fuse, Valkyrie.

Long answer:

Bloodhound: Probably the best out of them all. Particularly good at animals, but has an almost eerie ability to capture people in pencil, almost a photograph without being photorealistic. With animals and people they have a knack for catching that one piece of movement that just makes them feel alive. This is because of many, many, many many hours spent alone in the wilderness, on hunts or other expeditions. They leave little notes by drawings of plants to record what is and isn't poisonous and have actually sent in some small sketches to help with identification of rare flora and fauna to scientific boards in Gaea. Most of their notes in their sketchbook are the little things they notice about people and animals, though.

Bangalore: Canonly she got like a B in art and I just see her super stylized. Not award winning, but bold. Uses really harsh, dark lines and is one of those people that instead of starting out with too many light tones starts out way too dark, but eventually develops a really interesting style similar to old-school comic books. Would draw for her little cousins but not really for her family members. Reflecting her style, her favorite thing was to draw comics even if she didn't read them much. She figured out she was gay when she realized she wasn't drawing naked women to "practice anatomy".

Wattson: This is also canon if you read the lore book, but spending a lot of time on her own with almost complete control of what she did with said time left Wattson to learn, well, whatever she wanted, and one of those things was how to draw. She got a couple tutorial books, looked it up on the internet, and developed a clean, methodical style. One of those people where she says something is a "sketch" and you kind of wanna punch hit her but she's too damn nice. She tends to draw on the "cutesy" side of things, looooves to draw chibi-like characters. Will often use drawings to cheer Wraith up in particular. (Wraith has kept every single one). She's not very good at drawing anything but people and clothing, and her cat, but she's trying to branch out.

Rampart: Yeah it's canon, I know. Street art to the core, main method is spray paint and it started because of all the cool tags and art she saw in Gaea growing up. When she started doing it herself instead of being mad about it, her parents made her promise not to get caught more than twice. They actually got her art lessons, too. They bored her to tears, but they were helpful. Anatomy always comes out a little wonky though. Did find out she liked acrylic so she will use that. Used to make a little side money doing window paintings for Christmas.

Seer: Art was a method of expression and stress relief for him. It's really out there, somewhere between Picasso and Dali most of the time, but he can do some really intense human figures-think Alexandre Cabanel or any intense emotional figures in art in the 19th century. It's mostly a therapy thing for him and a test of skill, so a lot of people don't know how good he is at it. Loba has one of his pieces on her ship.

Fuse: Got into drawing because it was an easy way to goof off during class without getting caught. Style lands somewhere between Bangalore and Bloodhound really-there's a lot of movement and life in what he draws, and he can whip it out real fast. Half drunk drawing on a napkin can be a very cool sketchy vibe, prefers urban landscapes and people and will typically add dialogue or titles he finds funny to his drawings. Maggie used to make fun of him for it, but when they got older she actually got him a sketch book one Christmas and he really went off with it. There's a very "homey" feeling to his drawings, and he's always happy to sketch something for a friend. Has never been shy about sharing his stuff. After Maggie died, Bloodhound told him to try keeping a journal to help process his thoughts, and it's turned into half journal half illustration of his day, feelings, thoughts, etc. Bloodhound is the only one that's ever seen inside that particular journal. Similarly, he's one of the only ones, besides Loba, that's seen their sketchbook.

Valkyrie: I can kinda see her into drawing, but strictly anime. Not because she's Japanese or anything but because she gives the vibe of some kids I knew in high school who were like, really good at art, but only anime art, and soon as they stepped out of that it was like anatomy had fallen with the Roman empire and everything just kind of looked off. This isn't meant to be a bad thing I just see her very, very specific and not one to branch out from that particular style or develop one of her own. Really good at stylized landscapes though, and is in fact overall very good at converting any person or thing into a sort of anime style (I don't know enough about the different ones to specify).

It's warm, too warm to stay inside when Haley drops Jack off for a few hours. He can barely stand the heat in his apartment and he loves it hot, but it's sweltering in there. The air conditioning is on the fritz, he's got a work order in with the super but it's low on their list of priorities – there is flooding on the third floor that's damaging the second floor apartments too. It's a nice building but an old one, they'll get to it when they get to it. The super is kind enough to spring for a window unit, but Aaron doesn't love the idea of leaving a window open, shoving something in it that can be so easily pushed aside if someone wants to get in. Being on the first floor, he worries about things like that sometimes.

“Is he taking you somewhere nice?” he asks, watching the way Jack rushes through the apartment without even saying hello. He has to check on his toys, his bedroom, make sure everything is where he left it the last time he was here. It's been two weeks since his father has been home and sure, he misses him too, but that giant Iron Man toy is calling his name. Haley smiles a little sheepishly and shakes her head, sighing.

“Aaron...” she tries to brush him off, but he shrugs. It's casual, gentle and he invites her inside though she declines. He doesn't mean anything by it, he's trying to play nice. Things have been tense between them, ugly at times, but he's in a better place, he's not so angry. It's an innocent question and nothing more.

“I'm only curious,” he offers and she giggles at how childish he sounds, tucks a lock of hair behind her ear. It's almost like they're awkward teenagers trying to figure out how to speak the same language again. “I want you to find someone who'll treat you right.” Better than I did, that's what he means and she can't say she disagrees with that. She knows he's moved on, she knows he only really sleeps in this apartment when Jack is with him these days. It's a ruse, this place, it's not his home. He's always gone, and if she can be happy for him, she can allow him to do the same for her. It's what grown ups do, she reminds herself. There is a little jealousy that eats at her, knowing she's out there fumbling around dating random men while he's already settled into something good. She'd always known it would happen if she decided to leave, where he would go, whose arms would be waiting. There was something there with Derek even she couldn't touch and she'd seen it right away. The minute she met him, saw the way Aaron's eyes focused on every minute detail of the other man.

“Yes, Aaron, he's taking me somewhere nice.”

“Good. What does he do?” He's genuinely interested, and he focuses hard on her reply as Jack sprints from one end of the apartment to the other with Iron Man in his hands.

“He manages a grocery store,” she says and explains how they met in the cereal aisle, how he'd seen her and thought she was cute so he flirted by accidentally knocking a few boxes off of the shelf and introducing himself when she stopped to help him pick them up. In truth, he thought it sounded kind of sweet if not a little awkward, but that isn't what he said.

“Sounds sketchy,” he mutters and she narrows her eyes a moment, but his face erupts in a wide smile and she laughs at him, at the way he lights up.

“Says the man who joined a musical when he knew damn well he couldn't carry a tune. I'll pick Jack up by nine, can you have him ready for bed please? It would save me a lot of trouble later.”

“Of course.”

They take the Iron Man toy and they head right out the door after saying goodbye. He can't stay in the apartment, it's easily ten degrees warmer in there than outside and the air feels thick, smothering. He'll open the windows when the shadows stretch themselves out, when the building is shrouded by the darkness the trees offer. They'll be gone until then. There is a park just down the block, but that's not Jack's favorite, he likes the one a little further that Derek takes him to – he and Clooney and Jack spend hours there while Aaron finishes up his workload from home. He drives and joins them when he's finished so they can all drive home, it's a simple ploy not to have to walk that distance. He isn't usually feeling up to making the trek. He's exhausted, awake on borrowed time. Today he feels good, so they walk the extra few blocks, bring snacks, have an entire afternoon planned.

It's always the playground first. Slides with Iron Man, monkey bars, the jungle gym. He's little but he knows how to play on nearly everything. He's sure-footed, not at all clumsy like his father was at this age. It must be Haley in him, she's so graceful. Aaron watches him and reclines on the bench, grateful for the small break before Jack has him running soccer drills...his team has its first game the following week and he wants to practice. They don't keep score, it's really not a big deal but Aaron loves his devotion and motivation, won't squash it because he's tired. The drills tire them both out and Jack ends up with grass stains on his jeans, dirt on his nose and a smile on his face. It's swings next because, Aaron reasons, that means sitting again and he's winded, needs a short reprieve from running. But to Jack it just means they have to pump their legs hard and fast, and then jump off. A game to see who can go farther and Aaron knows he can win if he tries, he's not sure he should but Jack insists that Derek never just lets him win.

“You hafta do like dis, daddy,” Jack says, and it's easy when you're little, you don't go far – he lands in the soft bark and giggles, jumping back on to try again. Aaron tries not to go too high, he's done it a million times with Jack at their other park, his knees still allow the landing so long as it's on grass so he leaps but the chains lock in place, twisting just a little on the leap and he lands short of the grass, ends up a mess of scrapes on the small sidewalk that separates bark from grass. The worst place to land.

“You okay daddy?” Jack asks, standing over him panting from the effort of jumping for his third or fourth time.

“Yeah buddy,” he hisses, sitting upright through the shock of pain. For a moment he only knows he's hurt, has no idea where or how bad, it kind of always starts with alarm bells – there are electrical pulses sending shock waves, calling out SOS, massive panic in his nerve endings. As it settles, he's able to hone in on the source and it isn't so bad. He pulls his knee closer to him, it's already stiffening in the joint, bleeding from a dirty patch of road rash on full display beneath the now frayed end of his khaki shorts. That's the worst part for Jack, the part he can see and he's okay with that because the part he can't see...that's the real problem and he's sure he can hide it for a while. “Daddy's fine. Just need some band-aids. You mind if we head home?”

He can walk home. It's a longer walk than he'd prefer, and he's doing his best to conceal his limp, walking slowly behind Jack, taking short breaks to look at snails hiding in the wilting afternoon grass, Jack even asks if he can bring one home by placing its slimy foot in the middle of his palm and extending it to his father. Aaron can't help but laugh as he pulls the weight from his sore leg and peers at the snail, watches it move its slippery little eye stalks. “You can bring him to the garden,” he agrees. “It's nice and wet for him, he'll really like it. But he can't come inside.”

For once, he's glad they live on the first floor. He's not sure he could have climbed the stairs and Jack hates elevators, it's a new thing with him and Haley's sure it'll pass. It's an ordeal he's not up for. The apartment is too hot and he limps around while Jack finds the first aid kid, throws open all of the windows and turns on the fans. He stares at the air conditioning unit in its box and groans, he knows he can't manage that right now. The fans will have to do. The minute he sits on the couch the real pain hits. He grunts and whimpers softly at the way his knee creaks in its joint and he presses against it with one palm, tries to ease it into moving, being pliable again. It does't help. An entire box of Sesame Street band-aids is emptied onto the swelling red lump, covering the bloody scrapes, followed by a Buzz Lightyear ice pack. His palms are ripped up and Jack wants to cover them in band-aids too, this time its Thor and Captain America and another box is gone before he knows it. There is adhesive on wounds, it's going to hurt when he rips them off but Jack is pleased with himself. He brings snacks to help, they both laugh over the way daddy can't seem to bend around his painfully stiff knee, the awkward way he moves. Jack has to hand him things, help him take his shoes and socks off, it's a fun game for the boy and the way his face shines with pride when he unties Aaron's shoe laces is a pleasant distraction from the throbbing in his leg. He can feel it in his stomach, it's getting worse as the adrenaline wears off and things tighten up.

“Aw, man, we had plans tonight...what'd you do?” Derek whines, sauntering into the apartment with an arm load of groceries. Aaron smiles, shifts on the couch to get a better look at Derek in his kitchen. He loves the sight.

“I'm fine, just a little banged up. In case you wondered, it's official...I am too old to jump off of swings.”

“You got the hinky swing, didn't you?”

“I was unaware there was a hinky swing...”

“Jack, you didn't tell daddy he was sitting on the one with the busted chains?”

“I forgot...” Jack chirps, shrugging, not at all bothered by this revelation. Aaron glares. He is very, very bothered as his knee throbs beneath the melting ice pack. It's getting harder to ignore.

Derek chuckles and goes over to check out the damage, he knows knee injuries, having been plagued by them for much of his life as an athlete. Aaron's knee is swollen and he imagines pretty scraped up beneath Cookie Monster and Big Bird but he can see it's not too bad. Not yet, and he won't fuss over it or explore the damage until after Jack is picked up. He knows there's a careful balance being maintained now where the kid feels like he's helping and as long as Aaron is sitting down and can keep it up, no one will feel bad. Jack won't cry. Derek grabs a few pillows from their bed and uses them to prop Aaron's leg up, gets him a new bag of ice and a handful of ibuprofen while Jack is busy trying to find more snacks.

Popcorn and a movie, pajamas and finally Haley a few minutes early. It's a quiet evening, and she really isn't surprised to find that Aaron hurt himself. He's always been a magnet for accidents, and where Jack is concerned it's almost a given. He'll do anything to amuse Jack, often at great risk to his own safety. Overcompensating for not being around much, he tries to be everything and do everything, pack it all into the short time he has and it almost never works out the way he plans.

“He loves to pretend he's still young,” she says, lifting Jack's sleeping body into her arms. “He's brushed his teeth?”

“Ready for bed, like I promised,” Aaron announces proudly from the couch and she smiles, thanks him.

He needs to be up and moving, his knee doesn't hurt as much as it feels stiff so Derek makes him promise to take breaks when he needs to but he lets him join in the kitchen as they make their late dinner. The first date night they've had in weeks that didn't involve lumpy hotel beds and lukewarm takeout. No case talk, no work, just them.

He leans against the counter a lot to take the weight off, distracts Derek often by needing to be held, even just for a moment (maybe just a ploy but he'll never admit to it) and when it starts hurting more than its worth, when he can't bear to put weight on it for long enough to take a step, he calls it and sits down. Derek is all kisses and warmth, he takes the band-aids off and releases Cookie Monster of his burden, he's done a commendable job but he needs reinforcements. Derek wraps an ace bandage gently, tucks it in tight and presses a kiss where it ends. Aaron isn't sure how he got so lucky.

“It's fuckin' hot in here,” Derek announces, setting a new ice pack against Aaron's knee while he plates their dinner. He glances over at a large box sitting ominously in the living room. “That the window unit?”

Without asking permission, he puts it in and makes sure it's solid, in place, immobile. “We'll sleep on the couch tonight, no one's getting in here, I promise you that...but it's too fuckin' hot to sleep without it.”

Aaron nods, he's okay with it. He's sweating and in pain, in no mood to argue over relief from one of those things. He really only wants to curl up against Derek and hope the morning brings healing and nice, cool air.

“If that knee isn't better by morning...” he promises and Aaron nods. Urgent Care, he knows the drill.

“Understood.”
