3.111 It's time

We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather for our impromptu lake jaunt. It was the quintessential spring day with warm air, light wind, and zero clouds. But it was spring, and the air was warm, not hot. That meant the water hadn't warmed up yet, and it took us a while to adjust to its frigid grasp. But once we were in, nothing could stop our fun. We swam and splashed and played and kissed and swam some more until the sun began its descent and the air cooled.

A visit to Gilbert Gardens was not complete without a leisurely walk on the trails, so we tried to gather the dogs to walk around the lake with us, but they had other plans. Correction: Rosie had other plans. She always did, and this time they backfired. Poor thing got sprayed by a skunk. She waited for us at the trailhead, whimpering, looking pitiful, and smelling like hot trash. I took her to the outside basin immediately when we got home and had to bathe her three times to get that smell off.

While I was out there, I tended to the money tree and harvested the cash. Another §8,000! I wasn't a great student, but if my math was right, we could move within two days. Time to start packing.

Wade: Don't laugh - that's a real possibility. But, yeah, a grandchild - *realization* Whoa, I'm going to be a dad, Luc!  It's crazy to hear myself say that out loud. 

Luca:  I bet! Hopefully, soon I'll know what that feels like. But anyway, I'm very happy for you, Dub. I think you'll be a great dad. With any luck, maybe our kids will grow up together and be friends.

So...

I have had joint pain my whole life.

I went to a doctor as a child and they said I didn't have arthritis.

I got Covid around Labor Day.

The joint pain got far worse.

I went to the doctor.

Blood work said it wasn't arthritis.

I was recommended to go to the neurologist.

Spent about ten minutes? Talking and explaining that we're there for two reasons: 1, joint pain; 2, tics.

My neurologist, after these 10 minutes: You have Tourette's, which means you also probably have ADHD, OCD, or both.

(Self diagnosis essentially confirmed)

...apparently I have Tourette's, ADHD, OCD, and mild cerebral palsy from being a premie.

And that means my neck hurts but my insomnia is improving.

I can't stress this enough. If you don't feel like you can make it through. Like, offing yourself... Call your local police number and or your local help line if you have one or know of it. If you still unsure or you just want to vent.

If you have friends you trust. Talk, to, them! It's better to talk to someone you trust. And if you have to, talk to a adolt too. You're not alone.

Also, do fine a healthy way to calm yourself. Not just for being mad, sad, or anything. Try to find something to calm yourself, regardless. Of your state of mind. Don't do what I did. It's best to not even think about doing it. It's not worth it.

You are loved, and cared for buy at least one person. Regardless of what they think you look like, they still love you.

3.109 My place in this world

Mama called and invited us over for dinner that night, so Sophia and I discussed whether we would share our news when she inevitably asked us about her grandchildren. We knew she could handle it, and would offer to help any way she could, but we decided to keep it to ourselves for the moment. I didn't enjoy keeping secrets from my mother, but letting the world in felt like defeat at this stage. Sophia had only just begun the treatments. She could be pregnant by tomorrow. It wasn't time to worry everyone, especially when they weren't suspicious yet.

But to both of our surprise, we got through the entire evening without one question or comment about babies. Not even Alessia, who was even nosier, said anything. Without a story to fabricate, we ate in a semblance of peace with our secret between us, hoping one day this would be a distant memory added as a footnote in our story.

Back at home, I caught Sophia sneaking out of the bathroom as I headed for bed. She froze like she got caught stealing when she spotted me, but then the disappointed took over. I sighed, not because I knew what she did in there, but because of her tenacity. I loved how she wouldn't give up despite how much it hurt. But I didn't want her to end every day disappointed if these treatments didn't work, so I grabbed her by the hand and led her into our room.

"It's okay, you know. Maybe it takes a while for it to take effect."

"Or maybe it won't work for me."

"Don't say that. It'll work. And even if it doesn't, it's not the end. We'll just move on to the next thing. Regardless of how it happens, very soon, we'll have our baby, and we'll be in our new house, and everything will be great."

She sighed, nodding in agreement, but I could tell she struggled to believe.

"Is it bad that I hope we don't have to adopt? Does that make me like my parents?"

"Not at all. I think everyone prefers their own blood. It's natural."

"It's just that... You have all these beautiful family ties. There's only me. I don't want my existence to be just a blip on the radar, here one day and gone the next, forgotten and unimportant. I want to leave a piece of me behind so my life matters!"

I couldn't hold it together anymore. The dam broke, and tears flooded my face. I hated how much those idiots who birthed and raised her affected her life. She arguably was the best sim to ever walk the earth; The star in my sky; The light in my darkness; The gummy bear in my pancakes! No one else mattered to me quite like she did.

"Sophia, you do matter! You matter to me! You matter to this family! My life has been a thousand times better because you're in it! And when we're finally able to hold our child, whether it's ours or not, you'll matter to him too! Her. Whoever! You're gonna love the hell out of them, and they'll think you're the best sim on earth. Right?"

She nodded through her tears.

"Yes. I love it so much already! I haven't even met it yet."

"Exactly. Don't worry. It'll happen."

I love Pokemon. Its one of the fandoms I am actively in. I love drawing characters from the franchise and love battling with the friends I made along the way. However despite all the good things in the fandom, there are some things that make me want to stab my eyes out.

Let's talk about shipping. When I first heard of Shipping, I had assumed it was bad and toxic and all ships that ever existed were bad. However, that changed for me. Now I don't mind people shipping characters.

However there is a line with shipping and you shouldn't cross it.

Be warned, I'm about to get in some pretty disgusting ships here.

The protags of Pokemon are mainly around 10-13 years old. They are still children. They are still minors. They CANNOT consent.

There are SOME people who think it is okay to have the protags being shipped with adults. LITERAL ADULTS.

It is never EVER OKAY for a child to be in a relationship with an adult. Even if the child says its okay, it is NOT.

As a person who has been in this situation before and has common sense, this is bad. Like, how do you NOT SEE THAT THIS IS WRONG AND ILLEGAL.

And don't try to play it off by "Think of the positives! They are SOOOO happy together!1!"
