The Supreme Court really said we’re going to put you at a structural disadvantage for getting into college, but if you do get in you will need to take out loans that will also put you at a structural disadvantage when you get out of college. Happy 4th

Moe and Steve have been at war (arguing about what to set the heat at in the winter) since the dawn of time (since Moe was tall enough to reach the thermostat). Steve has it set to a balmy 62°F from October through March and Moe takes every opportunity available to her to adjust it at least 10 degrees higher.
Steve: Stop touching my thermostat.
Moe: No! It’s fucking cold in here!
Steve: Put on a sweater.
Moe: I’m already wearing a sweater!
Finally, in 2018, it comes to a head when Moe finally ropes Hazel and Robbie into her crusade.
Hazel: Papa, it’s a little chilly.
Moe: And there’s loads of reasons why women feel the cold more than men
Steve: Says who?
Much to Steve’s chagrin, Moe produces three (3) scholarly sources discussing gender differences in thermoregulation.
Robbie: Get wrecked, Pop.
Moe: You and dad are outnumbered so it’s only fair that you cede to the majority.
Moe: And set the heat to 75
Steve: Uh, no. 75? Are you insane?
Steve: Also – I don’t know how you guys got under the impression that this is a democracy
Steve: This is a benevolent dictatorship at best, and until I see you helping pay the bills, that won’t be changing, so…
Steve: 65.
Moe: 72.
Steve: 68
Moe:
Moe: 68 during the day, 72 in the morning.
Steve: Deal.
*Cue a couple moments of sedate teenager-esque celebration*
Eddie, who had wisely remained a neutral party: Christ, Steve, she’s citing her fuckin’ sources and everything.
Robbie: Regretting having children yet?
Steve: No
Steve: Kind of regretting teaching you how to read though.

All important things are said in the sunset
This is based on a comfort fanfic of mine, "The Significance of a Grocery List With Everyone’s Favorite Food". Really good shit, is basically a fic centered around Saeyoung and how he navigates his newfound freedom after the events of Saeran´s AE. It has a little Vander7 here and there, with the chapter I based this on being the main one, but ultimately is based around family and domesticity.
Sadly it seems it´s descontinued, I hope not, but even if it is I fully recommend it. 10/10 makes me want more Seven centric fics.

I get what people mean when they say things like “you should care about x whether it has to do with you or not, that’s just being a decent person” but sympathy only gets you so far! Coalition building REQUIRES people seeing their struggle in the struggle for others. It’s lovely for short-term work to say “oh I care for others so I’m doing this” but inevitably, actual engaged solidarity will come with a cost! And when that toll becomes too heavy, no matter how well-intentioned you begin, if you can think, “it’s not about me” you will cave!
No, every issue does not have to directly relate to you but if you cannot see where the systems overlap you will always be at the mercy of seeing yourself as separate from the struggle you support, and a wedge will be driven either through repeated “us vs them” conditioning (even seemingly polite allyship like ‘cis people don’t come to this trans rally’) OR when it becomes so costly to support as an ally, you will stop “sticking your neck out” for something that “doesn’t concern” you.
Movements die when people outside the affected group stop caring, but one group’s injury is an injury to your movement too. We are not all facing unique enemies but the many-headed monster that attacks us all. And focusing on revealing where our fights meet is infinitely more important to me, and to genuine solidarity, than separating out who is supporting a cause for “””selfish””” reasons.
