Dylan was depressed, would he have ever sought help or ended his life regardless?
Eric was banking on the marines but couldn’t join because of his medication. Would he have found something else had he not given in to hate?

i think about this sometimes. the optimistic part of me thinks that if dylan didn’t eventually kill himself (i feel like there was a solid change he was going to do that no matter what), he would’ve really enjoyed working with computers and technology. i am reminded of brooks, who has jumped around in software-based jobs over the years. brooks’s brother became an audio engineer, and zack became the ceo of an IT management company. i reference them because we can kind of use them as springboards for imagining dylan’s trajectory. maybe him and zack would’ve gone into business together? dylan probably would’ve gotten into software engineering or maybe he would’ve been the manager of a best buy lol. the fact that he was gunning (no pun intended) for a college education put him ahead of byron already.
like i said, i do feel that dylan was probably always going to be destined for suicide because there just were no resources around him to prevent him from doing so. maybe he would’ve thrived and enjoyed being at college enough that he wouldn’t, but it’s really hard to say. he was pretty deep down the rabbit hole. it’s sad, there was nobody looking out for either of them.
for eric — i genuinely don’t know this, but can you even join the reserves if you take SSRIs? or is it all just strictly a no-go? i often see people speculating that he would’ve gone on to design video games. i think the passion was definitely there for him, but even he didn’t really know where he wanted to end up. he wasn’t super interested in college and, when he did mention it, he was pretty casually mentioning just going to community college. realistically, he’d probably be working in the trades. he probably could’ve been good at sales, so maybe he’d be a car salesman or maybe he’d be selling software. in 2024, maybe he’d be doing a WFH technical support job. i feel like those are reasonably realistic options.
i don’t know if dylan would have ever been interested in parenthood, but i think eric could have been. you never know tho, some of the weirdest, shittest dudes end up being someone’s baby daddy lol

This marks the first time that U.S. Air Force B-1 has been replenished in this way at Incirlik Air Base. The aircraft stayed at the base for less than two hours before leaving for a training mission with the Turkish Air Force.

BRITISH MADE TITANIUM WATCHES

Let's talk titanium watches and more specifically - titanium. Discovered in Cornwall in 1791, and there we have a nice link to the Blacklamp Carbon watch we made which has a structure akin to the crazy geology of the cliffs of Milook Haven near Bude. Titanium was named after the Greek Titans. It is the 7th most abundant metal in the Earth's crust. It has been detected in the sun, M-type stars, meteorites and it makes up 12.1% of moon rock composition. But that is generally an oxide because pure metallic titanium is very rare. 95% of all titanium ore is refined into titanium dioxide, a white pigment used in pretty much everything that is white - paint, sunscreen, toothpaste, paper, plastics, etc... So why is titanium such a cool material for watches? Titanium reacts immediately with air to form a thin non-porous passivation layer that continues to grow for about 4 years to a thickness of 25nm. A shield that protects the body of metal. This makes titanium watches as corrosion resistant as platinum ones. It is non-magnetic, it has the highest strength to weight ratio of any metal. Titanium is roughly 40% lighter than steel but just as strong. Twice the strength of aluminium but only 60% heavier and it is here that we have the titanium watches paradox. Whilst it is a commonly accepted metal for watch cases it falls short for luxury heft. On paper it should be the number one metal for cases but alas, if it is not heavy it is not precious. It is more expensive than steel as a raw material and is more difficult to machine but within the luxury sector cost is not the limiting factor in its ubiquity, it is weight.
That said, and thanks the Citizen X-8 in 1970 who were the first to use it, we see more titanium watches on the market every year, so perhaps the on-paper specs make more sense than our senses. Rolex launched its first ever commercially available full titanium watch in 2022 marking an important milestone for the metal's luxury value. Even though every other watchmaker of note has had to make a titanium watch, very few are vaulted and coveted like their steel counterparts. As of 2023, you could look at Audemars Piguet, Grand Seiko and Vacheron Constantin for some stellar examples.
Where does the Strange Lights fit in? For starters the case, including the case back are fully machined and finished in the UK, the cases are machined in Dorset and we do the finishing here in Sussex. The laser engraving is done between the two counties in Hampshire. We use Grade 5 Ti-6AL-4V (similar to the Rolex Sea Dweller RLX and the same as Richard Mille), an alloy with 6% aluminium and 4% vanadium. It is an expensive alloy favoured for its hardness and machining capabilities. However, titanium has poor thermal conductivity so heat builds up between the surface of the part and the cutting tool, thus creating a characteristic chatter in the cut as the tool expands and shrinks, so you will also see greater tool wear. We use state-of-the-art 5 axis CNC mills with skilled engineers who work with titanium all day long, especially within the military sector. In short, they know what they are doing and that mitigates the difficulties of working with this metal. So, to see the quality of finish as we do on the Strange Lights is testament to the quality of the case machining and precision.
The Strange Lights brings together the Schofield themes of sea and space. Titanium has so many specialist applications both in marine and space exploration. The International Space Station is estimated to have 22,226 Kg of titanium onboard comprising 7% of its total mass. So, the Strange Lights had to be titanium as soon as the idea took hold. The case back features a romantic look at these notions with the use of a 1950s UFO shining its light/beam on Smeaton's Tower Lighthouse, a strange light that would be! But we also see a star circle, not just showing the passing of time but also a map or a guide. The fact that this design is like a mission patch is no coincidence. SWC SL-1 (indicating that one day they may be more iterations of this watch) is mechanically engraved on the side giving us this ship's identity.
The Strange Lights is a limited watch in two dial colours; Not Quite Green and Not Quite Red, port and starboard lights. In the sky or on the water?

The Burrell brothers undoubtedly had the Midas touch. George kept abreast of developments in marine engineering while William specialized in the commercial side. Their fortunes were based on a steady nerve, foresight and breath-taking boldness. The formula was quite simple. In times of depression they would order a large number of ships at rock-bottom prices, calculating that the vessels would be coming off the stocks when the slump was reaching an end. Burrell and Son was then in a position to attract cargoes because it had ships available and could undercut its rivals. Then, after several years of highly profitable trading, the brothers would sell the fleet in a boom period and lie low until the next slump occurred,  it was a simple idea for them and very shrewd, none of their rivals were brave enough to take the risk and the firm went from strength to strength. It was when the firm were at there peak William became one of the most important collectors in Scotland. His interest in art went back to his youth. While still a boy he was already buying pictures, although he used to say in later years that their chief value lay in the frames. 
Although it is not known what sparked off Burrell’s love of art, there were plenty of opportunities in late 19th century Glasgow for him to form his tastes. A number of collectors were to be found amongst the wealthy Scottish industrialists and shipowners of the time.
  An estimate of Burrell’s early interests can be obtained from his loans to the Glasgow International Exhibition of 1901, when he was the largest single lender with more than two hundred works. Their range and scope show that he was already a collector of major standing. They included medieval tapestries, ivories, wood and alabaster sculpture, stained glass and bronzes, Roman glass, 16th and 18th-century Dutch, German and Venetian table glass, silver, furniture and Persian rugs. The paintings are by too many artists to mention here without it looking like a shopping list, but Whistler, Manet and Monticello were among his purchases.
  Between 1901 and 1911 little is known of Burrell’s collecting, apart from his acquisition of some fine pictures, including his first Degas. Unfortunately, at the same time he was selling as well as buying, a policy he was to continue even after the sale of the fleet had removed any major financial restrictions on the scale of his spending on art. In 1902, for example, he sent nearly forty pictures for auction, and among those sold were paintings by Daumier and Manet which are now in the United States.
From 1911 until 1957 Burrell kept detailed records of his expenditure in twenty-eight school exercise books. He made almost all the entries himself, except during the last few months when failing eyesight compelled him to delegate the task to others. These purchase books are an invaluable record of the astounding range and scale of his collecting. Although the entries tend to become more detailed as the years go by, the basic format was established on the first page of the first book. There are separate columns for date of acquisition, description, from whom the item was acquired, its price, date of delivery, insurance and whether photographed. The last column is headed “All in Order” and usually has Burrell’s initials.
Burrell was never an easy client. He was strong-minded, liked to haggle over prices and could be very cautious., well what would you expect from a canny Scot! Even dealers with whom he had done business over some years would find him seeking a second opinion on an object they were attempting to sell him. His collection is only bettered by some of the major museums across the British Isles.
  Until about 1930 Burrell seems to have been buying merely for his personal enjoyment, with no thought of forming a collection which would be kept together after his death. Until then he continued to sell or exchange paintings, but in the 1930s he formed the idea not only of having a permanent collection but of handing it over to public ownership. Burrell had discussions with a number of interested parties regarding the disposal of the Collection, and eventually, in 1944, it was donated to Glasgow, the city of his birth and centre of his business activities, in the names of himself and and his wife.
A few years later he gave the then Glasgow Corporation £450,000 for the construction of a building in which the Collection was to be housed and displayed. The terms of the Deed of Gift as regards this building, however, presented difficulties. Burrell stated that it should be within four miles of Killearn in Stirlingshire and not less than sixteen miles from the Royal Exchange in Glasgow. He felt that the Collection would appear to best advantage in a rural setting and was also deeply concerned at the harm which could be caused by the high levels of air pollution then prevailing over Glasgow. The councillors and Corporation officials were aware of the problems in, firstly, finding a suitable site and then in administering a museum so far removed from the city, but attempts to persuade Burrell to make his conditions less stringent met with little success. Various sites were considered, but the issue was still unresolved at the time of Burrell’s death. It was only nine years later, in 1967, when Mrs Anne Maxwell Macdonald presented Pollok House and estate to the City of Glasgow, that a site was at last found.
Sadly, he did not live to see them in the gallery in Pollok Park, where they form such an important feature. He died at Hutton Castle on 29th March 1958, at the age of 96.
A design competition for the museum building in 1971 was delayed by a postal strike, allowing time for the eventual winning architect  Barry Gasson. I have no idea why it took so long to actually get it built, but it’s size was maybe a factor. The building is the second largest post war building in Scotland, the abandoned St  Peter’s Seminary at Cardross being the largest. The Burrell Collectioned opened it’s doors in 1983.  So far, more than 1.3 million people have visited exhibitions
The Burrell Collection closed to the public in October 2016 in order to embark on a programme of refurbishment. It was reopened last year, after covid caused delays.

bread and born like championship horses, the mckinney household was held to very high standards. maura robinson met douglas mckinney in university where maura attended for an mrs. degree and douglas ? engineering. he was a few months from graduation when maura stuck her nails into douglas’ back. he had a future, came from a great family name, and could allow maura to get her ❛ degree ❜ within her first year of school, letting her party the rest of it away.

monica grew up in a semi-normal, albeit, very privileged life. her father came from money and rose the ranks fairly quickly in his bland corporate business career. maura and monnie didn’t care what he did, only that he brought home the money to support them and their vastly expensive tastes. monnie learned her taste after her mother. money and material goods were in place of love and affection, and monnie didn’t care.
she was fairly popular in school, mostly since she bought her way into it. her friends were fake, but they were there. the only real friends she made were on the cheer squad — especially veronica. to stay in shape and keep up with appearances and popularity, monnie joined the cheer squad in high school after doing cheer for a few years on a private team. it was something she enjoyed because there was a certain power in it that everyone had. the boys wanted you, the girls wanted to be you. influence was all she ever wanted.
and, oh, did boys want monnie. she is very aware and confident in and of her sexual nature, its one of the one things she is very sure of in herself. she didn’t care if it was because she came from money and made any guy on her arm the new coolest kid in school. she just wanted an accessory — and when they got too invested, she’d try a new one on. there was never any real feelings in her multitude of relationships, which she could easily blame on the lack of example offered to her by her own parents. everything in her life was transactional. so much so that she often wondered why she never actually liked any of the men she dated (... lol)
but patrick ? oh, patrick was different. he was such a good kid. always sticking up to bullies and even working his way up when it came to gaining friends and sudden popularity as well. having monnie for an older sister probably helped, but patrick got onto the basketball team all on his own. he liked the team, even if he didn’t agree with everything they said or did. he was the better, nicer mckinney kid, and everyone knew it. 
things started taking a turn for the worse when monnie was in her last year of university. she was close to getting her degree and moving somewhere like new york or europe for fashion when she found out about the abuse. she surprised patrick at home one night when she noticed the first bruise. 
patrick told her about everything that night in her car. he talked about the way dad was acting and how his attitude had suddenly shifted. he was normally an absent father, but now he needed to know everything that was going on in patrick’s life. how he suspected alcohol at first, but then he found the baggie he had been hiding in his briefcase. 
he then talked about when the hitting started. first, it was when patrick got in the way, then it turned personal. maura was never involved, but she also never involved herself. her after university plans changed that visit and she decided staying in hawkins would be best — at least until patrick was able to leave too. back at home, monnie would help try to cover his bruises with her makeup, but the bruises were always too multi-colored for her foundations to work.
then, all of a sudden, patrick was gone. something about a murderer on the loose who had already killed two people — patrick now being their third. but when monnie went to see his body, she knew there could never be someone capable of doing what had happened to patrick. she knew abuse like the back of her hand, and the stories of witchcraft and satanism weren’t enough for monnie to feel okay about patrick being gone. she wouldn’t accept it.
especially when the stories came out from his friends about him being lifted into the air, crumbling together, only to fall back into the waters of lovers lake. a spot she used to frequent when she was in school but now refuses to go near. and then when the earthquake hit and the news broke out on what was ruled the cause of patricks death ? monnie couldn’t deal. she doesn’t believe that munson kid killed her little brother, but she most definitely doesn’t believe what happened to his body was due to exposure. wrong place wrong time. 
monnie is now the only child in the mckinney household. she acts as though his death didnt do anything to her or change her at all, but it did — it changed her family quite a lot too. her mom finally left her dad and he skipped town. monnie hates that it took patricks death for their father to finally leave. 
after the earthquake and when the town started to settle did monnie settle, too. she couldn’t leave hawkins now — not when her brother was buried here and not when she didn’t have answers. instead, monnie restarted up the lovelace lingerie at the mall, becoming the new owner of the establishment. and then she bought a small house to fit her needs just perfectly.
still a wild bitch, monnie is being as true to herself as possible, while also trying to not let patrick’s death influence her life too much. something she’s already failing at.

Lockheed receives $7.6 billion to build 129 F-35 fighters from Lot 15

The U.S. Navy granted Lockheed Martin a $7.6 billion contract modification to produce 129 fifth-generation Lot 15 F-35 fighters in all variants.
The contract includes 49 F-35A aircraft (conventional takeoff) for the U.S. Air Force, three F-35B aircraft (short takeoff and vertical landing) and 10 F-35C aircraft (aircraft carrier variant) for the Marine Corps.
Also included are 15 F-35Cs for the U.S. Navy, 32 F-35A aircraft and four F-35B aircraft for participants outside the U.S. Department of Defense and 16 F-35A aircraft for foreign customers.
The announcement of the Pentagon contract said that the work under this modification should be completed in October 2024.

In a separate notice, the Pentagon said that Lockheed Martin was also receiving a $53.4 million modification for “continuous engineering and other related activities in support of the design and development of a variant of the Joint Strike Fighter aircraft adapted for foreign military sales (FMS) from an unspecified customer.”
The Pentagon did not reveal the customer, but it is worth noting that Israel is working on a special variant of the F-35 that will allow the Israeli Air Force to exclusively integrate certain technologies native to the F-35. Israel received the first of these unique fuselages in 2020.
According to Lockheed Martin's latest data sheet on the F-35 program, the company delivered more than 825 jets to nine countries. The global fleet has accumulated more than 550,000 flight hours with more than 323,000 missions.

ALFRED HITCHCOCK

Alfred Hitchcock (born August 13, 1899, London, England died April 29, 1980, Bel Air, California, U.S.) was an English-born American motion-picture director whose suspenseful films and television programs won immense popularity and critical acclaim over a long and tremendously productive career. His films are marked by a macabre sense of humour and a somewhat bleak view of the human condition.
(Early Life)
Hitchcock grew up in London’s East End in a milieu once haunted by the notorious serial killer known as Jack the Ripper, talk of whom was still current in Hitchcock’s youth two decades later. Although he had two siblings, he recalled his youth as a lonely one, with a father who was a stern disciplinarian; it is said that he once ordered Alfred to appear at the local police station with a note saying that he had been misbehaving, whereupon the sergeant on duty (at the request of Hitchcock’s father) locked him up for a few minutes, a sufficient length of time to give Alfred a fear of enclosed spaces and a strong concern for wrongful imprisonment, both of which would figure in his later work. When he was not being disciplined, he was cosseted by an overly watchful mother, who used food as a balm—to which he would later trace his trademark paunch.Hitchcock went to St. Ignatius College before attending the London County Council School of Marine Engineering and Navigation in 1913–14. He worked in the sales department at W.T. Henley’s Telegraph Works Company until 1918, when he moved to the advertising department. Giving in to his artistic side, Hitchcock enrolled at the University of London in 1916 to take drawing and design classes.

A string of successful films followed, including Rebecca (1940), Foreign Correspondent (1940), Suspicion (1941), Shadow of a Doubt (1943) and Notorious (1946). Rebecca won the Academy Award for Best Picture, with Hitchcock nominated as Best Director.He also received Oscar nominations for Lifeboat (1944), Spellbound (1945), Rear Window (1954) and Psycho (1960). Hitchcock's other notable films include Rope (1948), Strangers on a Train (1951), Dial M for Murder (1954), To Catch a Thief (1955), The Trouble with Harry (1955), Vertigo (1958), North by Northwest (1959), The Birds (1963) and Marnie (1964), all of which were also financially successful and are highly regarded by film historians
(Filmmaking Style)
The "Hitchcockian" style includes the use of editing and camera movement to mimic a person's gaze, thereby turning viewers into voyeurs, and framing shots to maximise anxiety and fear. The film critic Robin Wood wrote that the meaning of a Hitchcock film 'is there in the method, in the progression from shot to shot. A Hitchcock film is an organism, with the whole implied in every detail and every detail related to the whole.'

Hitchcock made his directorial debut with a silent movie named Number 13 which is rumored to be lost. He has made more than 20 silent movies including Number 13 (1922),Always Tell Your Wife (1923),The Pleasure Garden (1925) and etc.
He has made more than 40 sound films including Blackmail (1929),An Elastic Affair (1930),Juno and Peacock (1930),Murder (1930). Some of his most famous movies which are still praised are Vertigo (1958),Psycho (1960),The Birds (1963). The last movie which he directed before his death was Family Plot (1976)
